GO AHEAD AND DIE RELEASE MUSIC VIDEO FOR FIRST SINGLE 'TUMORS' + NEW ALBUM UNHEALTHY MECHANISMS OUT OCTOBER 20TH!

Arizona death-crusters GO AHEAD AND DIE will deliver their caustic sophomore album Unhealthy Mechanisms on October 20th via Nuclear Blast Records. A torrential whirlwind born from the livid minds of Igor Amadeus Cavalera (HEALING MAGIC) and Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY). This new installment to the band's dystopian catalog is a fresh dive into the madness of society and the pollution that ravages our minds.

The first taste of the album comes in the form of the single 'Tumors'. The headbang-inducing track is a call out to the backstabbers who are toxic and are the "tumors" of life that if left to spread can become cancer. Check out the animated video created by Romanian artist
Costin Chioreanu

Max Cavalera comments, "The new G.A.A.D. is on its way! More brutal, feral, extreme, and intense than ever before! The album goes in a deep dive into the mental health subject and it’s produced by Igor A! It’s by far the most anarchist record I’ve ever been a part of in my entire career!"

Igor Amadeus Cavalera states, "I’m so excited to release this monster of a record! This album will take you through the darkened madness of declining mental health. It is definitely the heaviest record I’ve ever created, and I can’t wait to unleash it on the masses! G.A.A.D.!"

Unhealthy Mechanisms was produced by Igor Amadeus Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the recording in his Platinum Underground Studio steeped in the mystic ambiance of the Superstition Mountains’ foothills. The mixing and mastering were once again handled by Arthur Rizk (CAVALERA, SOULFLY, TURNSTILE ). For the artwork, the band enlisted Santiago Jaramillo of Triple Seis Design to create the unnerving design that fits with the album title. GO AHEAD AND DIE's newest record is a testament to declining mental health around the world, and a reminder that we are not alone in our pain. The mind is lost. The fuse is lit. Time to set everything ablaze.

Unhealthy Mechanisms will be available digitally and in the following formats:

WORMHOLE Rage Against the Machine on New Single

WORMHOLE warp brutal riffs and screeching dissonance into a signature tech-slam combo. So it's no surprise that the Baltimore band are huge gamers. Their new album 'Almost Human' was inspired by stomping fools at Metroid and Doom as much as headbanging to Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia.

Today, Wormhole are premiering a heroic new single with Slam Worldwide. Watch the monstrous visualizer for "Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact"
below.

'Almost Human' comes out 22 September. Pre-save the album
HERE.  Pre-order it HERE.

"This song has our hero struggling as they make their last stand," says Wormhole. "They're desperately trying to rally, but despite their rage, they just keep falling apart. Is the impossible really going to happen? Is our hero, the one we love and cherish so much, really going to lose?"

"Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact" might be the fastest and sludgiest song on 'Almost Human'. But it's definitely the most disgusting. Brothers Sanil and Sanjay Kumar scrape out stomach-churning riffs, while the rhythm section chews on the breakdown. Julian Kersey's death growl is so fierce and rotten, you can practically smell the stench wafting through your speakers.

When you invent your own genre, you can make the rules, and in space, no one can correct your math. If Wormhole’s excellent The Weakest Among Us was 50% tech death and 50% slamming brutal death metal, their Season of Mist debut is a veritable leveling up of the Baltimore-based act’s trademark “tech slam.” It’s the kind of record that can scramble your brain and give your neck a nice chiropractic workout; Almost Human feels like the future of extreme metal, dropped down from either outer space or delivered by Nintendo cartridge (more on that later).

So, what the hell exactly is “tech slam?” Well, the gleefully amorphous and unholy term comes from an ethos that guitarists Sanil “Noni” Kumar and Sanjay Kumar discovered and perfected over (probably) thousands of hours of Metroid and Doom games, as well as, you know, actual musical mastery. Almost Human, out September 22, 2023, is more powerful, more agile, and more confounding for pie-chart-enthusiasts than anything else that came before it. The sequel is always bigger, darker, and in this case, covered in much more pixelated space horror viscera. My Wormholio calculator puts their sound at 91% tech and 89% slam, with an increase in awesome stats somewhere in the 420% range. There’s also a clear emphasis on amplifying their dissonant death influence, the kind of eerie melodies that feel like being stomped on by Samus.

There’s a clear balance to everything on Almost Human: the songs are more adventurous while also being instantly memorable. No two songs sound alike, and that diversity in songcraft (level design?) sees Wormhole pushing and pulling along their tech and slam dials to figure out what’s best for the song; spoiler, it’s always riffs. What also becomes evident after repeated listens is how carefully the Kumar brothers understand a sense of place, humor, and a consistent vibe. This is still the same band that’s known for throwing on Saturday morning cartoons, and Almost Human continues to hammer home that Wormhole the musical entity is deadly serious, but the guys that make tech slam are not stoic creatures. There’s a warmth and sense of joy when chatting with them that only gets brighter when you ask their favorite Metroid game (that’s a question for a live show). So, what is this vibe they are chasing? Sanjay shares:

“The tech slam imagery is based on Metroid lore, Doom lore, and we haven't written a song about it yet, but Alien as well. Those three things are brutal sci-fi universes, so we're trying to embody that sound. The slam riffs, you can connect the brutal killing of stuff with the brutal chunky riffs; that's been a match that's existed since the nineties. So that's the slam part, and then the tech part was harder to fit that vibe, so we kind of do it differently. I lean into very dissonance-vibe stuff, like Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia. I think disso-death and heavy, they aren't usually paired together, even though they should be.”

“And then as far as chasing the vibe,” Noni adds, “I kind of go about it two ways. With the Metroid soundtrack or universe, that vibe, there's some dark and gloomy atmosphere, but there's a lot of pretty imagery as well. We wanted to find a way to match that very pretty, kind of out-there sound cohesively in songs with a very aggressive and guttural approach.”

Like another famous sci-fi horror masterpiece of a different media, Wormhole’s shifting, amorphous style is perfectly suited to blend in and amaze just about any fan of heavy music. That’s The Thing: they can pull off whatever they want, but it’s always boiled down to that tech slam vibe. Do you like tech, melody, breakdowns, atmosphere, or dissonance? Tech slam can fill whatever void you seek.

If previous albums were early generation, lower-resolution visions of tech slam, Almost Human is the 4K reboot, where you can see every pixel of terror and awe. Wormhole are absolutely ready for their closeup. Prepare your worms and your holes, tech slam is here to stay.

Within Temptation Announce New Album "Bleed Out" + Share Title Track — LISTEN

Bleed Out signifies a bold leap forward for the band. From contemporary, hard-hitting, and djenty riffs to soaring melodies displaying their symphonic roots, Within Temptation have created a sonic journey that fuses diverse musical styles and thought-provoking themes. This is an album that is as epic as it is unflinchingly outspoken, and now more than ever, this is a band who isn't afraid to make a stand on issues the members care about.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Within Temptation have shifted their focus from writing about personal emotions and societal subjects to tackling global injustices and reflecting the tumultuous state of the world in a way that other artists seem unable or unwilling to do.

Vocalist Sharon den Adel states, "The war in Ukraine has influenced us a lot. As artists we are inspired by the world, and we have this platform. We are storytellers, and I think as human beings, these are things we should be talking about."

Whilst songs such as "Wireless" and "We Go To War" examine the authoritarian aggression on display in Ukraine and other warzones, the title track itself addresses the plight of women fighting for their rights in Iran after the murder of Mahsa Amini.

den Adel explains, "I lived in Yemen when I was a kid. My parents lived in several countries in the Middle East, and I've visited them a lot when they were there. It's a different world. Due to my time there, I feel connected to that part of the world. I've been so incredibly impressed by the bravery of the young women there who've been burning their scarves knowing they were going to be thrown in prison or worse — it's heartbreaking."

The album also grapples with the complex issues around a woman's right to choose in recent single "Don't Pray For Me" and throughout, this impassioned and political focus is reflected in the intensity and heaviness of the music. Embracing a new era of musical exploration and lyrical depth, Within Temptation have pushed boundaries and showcased their artistic evolution, delivering a fist-in-the-air proclamation of both their moral convictions and their fearless approach to music.

Imbued with a vast dynamic range that plumbs the full depth of symphonic heaviosity, Bleed Out is as exuberantly heavy as it is politically profound.

For further details and to pre-order the album here

Bleed Out will be released in multiple physical formats and across all streaming via Within Temptation's own label Force Music Recordings in a joint venture with Bertus Distribution for worldwide distribution and Amped Distribution for the U.S. and Canada.

Within 20 years, we are looking towards the first live album of Obscura, spiked with songs of our last five releases. It was a pleasure working through every recorded show to pick the best song, the loudest possible audience and a stellar performance by a band that's on fire. As a first impression, we choose 'The Anticosmic Overload' performed in the United States of America, since this was the first song ever we performed in North America back in 2009."

DEKO ENTERTAINMENT TEAMS UP WITH MOTION ENT. WORLDWIDE TO RELEASE THEN AGAIN...BY LEGENDARY TRIUMPH GUITARIST/VOCALIST RIK EMMETT

Between its 16 albums and DVDs, it has received 18 gold and 9 platinum awards in Canada and the United States. They were nominated for multiple Juno Awards, including the Group of the Year Award in 1979, 1985, 1986, and 1987. Emmett is now releasing worldwide Then Again... through Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group) as part of a new deal with Music in Motion Ent. As he states about the release, “There seems little point in simply trying to repeat history, so we came at it from a different place: the place where Dave Dunlop and I dealt with these songs, on smaller nightclub & intimate listening room stages. Honoring the endurance of these songs, but giving them a fresh, stripped-down and 21st century D.I.Y. perspective.” Enjoy reimagined versions of classics like, “Lay It on the Line,” “Magic Power,” and “Fight the Good Fight.”

"Magic Power" reached #8 on the Billboard Mainstream Top Rock Tracks chart and #51 on the Hot 100, while "Fight the Good Fight" went to #18 on the Top Rock Tracks chart. Alkaloid Reach Critical Mass on New Single

No one has conquered the far reaches of the metalverse quite like Alkaloid. The Bavarian band have crafted songs about what lies beneath the Arctic crust, on top of an ongoing, multi-part saga about a galactic civilization that ascends to god-like levels of domination.

Today, Alkaloid are releasing the latest chapter in the Dyson Saga. "Numen" is a cosmic seven-minute yarn of how a supermassive black hole came to burp up an unheard-of cosmic artifact that gives both the song - and their new album - its name.

Watch the heady lyric video below.

'Numen is out on September 15. Pre-order the album
HERE. Pre-save the album HERE.

"We proudly present the title track of our new album, and the first of three new chapters in the ongoing Dyson saga up the Kardashev Scale", says galactic leader Morian from Alkaloid's space station via interstellar transmission. "Through the mindbogglingly complex manipulation of mass, electromagnetism and the structure of spacetime itself over countless aeons, "Numen" transforms into an acceleration hub for sentinel worldlets sent toward other galaxies".

"Numen" amasses sounds from across the spectrum of extreme metal: alien growls mixed with luminous cleans, drum fills that hurtle between mind-bending bass grooves, and riffs that crunch with the force of asteroids while also swirling like the milky way.

"Musically, I mangled materials inspired by Rainbow and Pink Floyd, as well as Meshuggah into a polyrhythmic context, while still staying true to the sound of our Dyson world," says Morian. "The subtle but continuous disturbance of the main 12/16 groove by a stubborn 7/16 layer is a hint at the massive forces at play in the story".

Progressive extreme metallers Alkaloid prepare to unfurl their new many-tentacled full-length, 'Numen' via Season of Mist. Featuring members of Triptykon, Obscura, Dark Fortress, and Obsidious, the Germany-based quartet of Morean (vocals, guitars, concepts), Hannes Grossmann (drums), Christian Münzner (guitars), and Linus Klausenitzer (bass) construct upon, expand away from, and journey between previous full-lengths The Malkuth Grimoire (2015) and Liquid Anatomy (2018) on Numen. In every respect, Alkaloid recommence the purposeful warp of various metallic genres they dimensionally blur. Tracks like the video single for "Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” and “Numen” posit heavy cosmological/Lovecraftian theoretic themes on top of musically-adept songs that are accessible yet undeniably intricate.

“We’ve all been around the block a few times by now as metal musicians,” says songsmith Morean. “The feeling that we’ve outgrown the narrow niche of pure extreme metal was a main motivator to start this band in the first place, ten years ago. The ‘prog’ tag is handy for us because, per definition, it already encompasses a wider range of possible styles and influences we can get away with than any one specific metal genre. This means we could ensure from the beginning that we’ll always be able to write whatever we want, no matter how crazy our ideas become. The heart of this band is always the songwriting, and we all like complex and virtuosic music in all its diverse manifestations. However, we do share a love for death metal as the smallest common denominator in the band, and we wanted to make sure no one thinks that just because we include melodies, clean guitars, and influences from other genres, we’d automatically sacrifice the brutality and relentless esthetic of extreme metal.”

'Numen' was written during the pandemic, but it was planned long before the scourge of disease wracked humanity. As a result, the songwriting sessions were predictably not "in the room" but over the Internet after the band members had isolated and worked on their constituent parts. Demos flew back and forth. Then, Tunker left amicably for personal reasons. Alkaloid could’ve folded, but the close-knit group soldiered on. They intensely relied on the professionalism and dependability of the collective to drive 'Numen' to completion. The complications of the two years it took to sonically inscribe the album into aeonic vastness didn’t fragment the end result. Instead, the process accelerated Alkaloid’s lambent, eldritch explorations. “Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” “Numen,” and “A Fool’s Desire” expertly bridge the past to the future, where Alkaloid’s originative, daedal storytelling captures (and holds hostage) the imagination.

The title, 'Numen', got its start at the dawning of Alkaloid. It’s a word that Morean fell in love with immediately, and he knew it had a place in his creative endeavors. Whereas The Malkuth Grimoire talked about combining existing elements into new structures, and Liquid Anatomy dealt with the creation of new elements, 'Numen' tries to look at the universe from a kind of meta-perspective from an imaginary god, as if the space that everything happens in was given a voice and a role as observer and shaper of everything that happens. In it, sentient panspermic mycelia are swathed in Lovecraftian nastiness—like Shub-Niggurath and the Fungi from Yuggoth—while the new Dyson chapters interpret the aspiration to reach divinity rather literally, reshaping the entire galaxy by manipulating spacetime itself. Desperate to escape their doom, the Cephalopods from previous songs have returned, too. 'Numen' is dense but not impenetrable. In fact, from the first moments of opener, "Qliphosis," to the final contemplation of closer "Alpha Aur,” Alkaloid prove to be more charismatic than ever.

Wolves At the Gate Announce "Lost In Translation" Covers Album + Share "Pardon Me"

WOLVES AT THE GATE ANNOUNCE LOST IN TRANSLATION COVERS ALBUM OUT SEPTEMBER 22 VIA SOLID STATE RECORDS

BAND SHARES COVER OF "PARDON ME"

Earlier this summer, WOLVES AT THE GATE shared their awesome cover of Twenty One Pilots' "
Heathens."

They followed it up with their take on "
Attack" by Thirty Seconds to Mars and then their version of "Stupid Deep" by Jon Bellion.

Now, they have announced Lost In Translation, a full covers album featuring these three songs and several more...

...Like their version of Incubus' smash hit "
Pardon Me."

Listen to the song and watch the visualizer
below

Lost In Translation arrives on September 22 via Solid State Records. Pre-order it
here.

"An obvious theme through these covers is the unique nature of each one of these artists, and Incubus is no exception," says vocalist/guitarist Steve Cobucci about the latest cover drop. "We all have memories of when we first heard the band and how inspiring their creativity is. Personally, I remember buying their Live at Red Rocks DVD that I watched more times than I can count. I just remember thinking about how incredible Brandon's singing was for an hour-and-a-half long set. I also couldn't believe how Mike was creating such incredible and huge sounds as the only guitar player."

He continues, "It's difficult to explain what Incubus sounds like because they are so unique. It's always a bold move as an artist to create something so distinct and original, but an incredible payoff when you have talented musicians like the guys in Incubus. Mike Einziger's guitar playing is just as incredible as Brandon Boyd's singing. Their artistry on the song made it both challenging and exciting to run with. Tracking this song was fun because we all got to do things musically that we haven't explored much with our own music. The intricate vocals on the verse, the chop and stop drum beat, and powerful chorus were elements that we enjoyed recreating and interpreting."

ABOUT WATG:
Unrestricted by genre conventions and determined to raise the bar with each successive album, Wolves at the Gate deliver music and a message with a firm commitment to passion and authenticity. Tirelessly seeking out the light in seemingly overwhelming darkness, the Midwestern post-hardcore group balances soaring melodies with unrelenting metal and emotional heaviness. Eulogies arrives with confidence and forward motion born from reflection, introspection, and isolation.

The small-town Ohio-based five-piece band built the foundations for the album's 13 songs during the pandemic shutdown, shaping diverse tracks like "Shadows," "Peace That Starts The War," and "No Tomorrow" into stunning confessional epics. Wolves at the Gate's audience treasures each of the band's best-known songs for the emotional depth, passionate catharsis, and evocative power contained in them, as evidenced by the millions of streams for WATG anthems. These include "Counterfeit," "A Voice in the Violence," and "Drifter" (from 2019's Eclipse); "Asleep," "Flickering Flame," and "War in the Time of Peace" (from 2016's Types & Shadows); "Relief," and "The Bird and the Snake" (from 2014's VxV); "Dead Man," "The Harvest," and "Slaves" (from 2012's Captors), and "Heralds" (from 2011's We Are The Ones).

Portland-based indie pop artist BERKLEY presents 'Your Place' single, previewing 'Pueblo' album

"Equal parts catchy and groovy... recalls the carefully manufactured hits of pop kingpin Beck and songwriting savants Miike Snow. Shimmering synths envelop the listener like a warm bath, while a melodious electric guitar floats atop in the form of a rock-tinged bass line" ~ Dallas Observer

“Earnest and immediate pop-rock with shades of Americana and ’70s Laurel Canyon rock & roll" ~ Bandcamp Daily

"Superb. Here we have a super-catchy melody, a high feel-good factor, impeccable delivery and production. Fans of Ben Folds, Ethan Gold and Ben Kweller should take note" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

Portland indie pop artist
Berkley presents his new single 'Your Place', previewing his debut full-length album 'Pueblo', slated for release on September 1 via Oregon-based label Big Secret Records. While recent singles explore his history and hometown of Pueblo, Colorado, here Berkley holds the mirror to himself, examining his past only to realize that it endures.

Berkley revisits the good, the bad and the ugly, Berkley concluding that ultimately, some things never change. He sums it up best in the chorus: “I’m uncomfortable with myself / you think you leave that behind but it stays on your face”.With verses that sketch one view of the past, Berkley revisits the good, the bad, and the ugly as he comes to terms with how some things never change.

Berkley explains, “Your Place started as an attempt to write as if I were 12 years old but possessed the vocabulary and perspective to capture all the big new feelings I had. That exercise led me to realize I haven’t stopped feeling as out of place and anxious as I did in middle school. The song came to be about the insecurities that stay with you and how they shape or guide your life despite your best efforts."

Interrogating the small spaces shared between what-ifs of the past and the realities of the present is where Berkley’s songwriting shines. Earlier, he released 'Pueblo Nights', which explores themes of memory, youth, and growth in Berkley’s hometown of Pueblo, Colorado, and 'Fiesta Day', where he blows the dust off the events that shape us to reveal what follows, revisiting the end of a teenage friendship with clarity brought by time.

Berkley is the nom-de-plume of Andrew Jones, a recording engineer whose production and songwriting adventures include recording with former Cher bassist and ASCAP award winner Bob Parr, a power pop collaboration with members of The Offspring, and the “gorgeous” (AV Club) synthesizer project Sound for Bombs.

As Berkley, Jones weaves together a wide range of influences, diving in with renewed vigor for writing and performing. In terms of his origins, after touring in his own punk and metal bands in his teens and early 20s, Andrew Jones took a chance on the Los Angeles songwriting scene, ultimately finding himself as part of a team of writers tasked with developing early ideas for Michael Jackson’s comeback album.

Following Jackson’s death, Jones reevaluated his path in music and stopped writing and performing for three years while he taught university writing and literature. Jones’ muses returned in 2010 when he quit his teaching job to immerse himself in jazz guitar studies and rekindle his relationship with music and his primary instrument.

As of August 14, 'Your Place' is available via
Bandcamp, where the full 'Pueblo' album (out September 1) can be pre-ordered on CD and vinyl, the first 100 of which come in a random color (brown, army green, gray, or purple). It also includes exclusive audio from vintage Pueblo KDZA broadcasts and field recordings captured in Pueblo locales significant to Berkley's life. A seamless listening experience track to track, side per side - this is how Pueblo is meant to be heard.

NIGHT VERSES Announce Ambitious New Double Album ‘Every Sound Has A Color In The Valley Of Night'; Drop New Single "Karma Wheel"

Prog metal voyagers NIGHT VERSES have announced their phenomenal new double album ‘Every Sound Has a Color In The Valley Of Night’, with Part 1 due out September 15th, 2023 via Equal Vision Records, pre-orders are available now HERE. Coinciding with the announcement, the band has released new single and official music video “Karma Wheel” - stream HERE and watch below.

Last month, the band released comeback single “Arrival” which marked their first new music in 5 years and heralded the end of their hiatus. Now, “Karma Wheel” offers fans a second glimpse into NIGHT VERSES' boundary-pushing new era.

‘Every Sound Has a Color In The Valley Of Night’ will be released in two parts. Part 1 coming September 15th and Part 2 due out in early 2024. Across both parts the album features a star-studded cast of guests including Tool bassist Justin Chancellor, Author & Punisher, Incubus frontman Brandon Boyd and Circa Survive's Anthony Green, 'Every Sound Has A Color In The Valley Of Night' sees NIGHT VERSES tear up the rulebook with a kaleidoscopic vision and truly living up to the accolade given to them by Noisey who referred to the band as “the Salvador Dali of Progressive metal”.

Speaking on their long awaited new album, NIGHT VERSES collectively share:

“This album is an assessment of human rituals and the power they hold. Not only on the individual, but also on the world around them. It reflects how the practices we devote our energy to have always determined the reality we occupy. For better or for worse.

Ultimately we want the listeners to find their own connection to the album, but this entire record was composed with different physical environments in mind for each song. Aiming to align the physical, visual and sonic experience in a way that could fully immerse the listener while giving them the space to find their own connection to the music.”

Fearless as ever in their exploratory vision, NIGHT VERSES once again raise the bar for creativity and innovation in heavy music.

ABOUT NIGHT VERSES:

Hailing from Fullerton, CA, NIGHT VERSES first galvanized listeners with their 2012  EP ‘Out Of The Sky’, merging prog, alt-metal, post-rock and ambient electronica into their own intoxicating strain of cinematic metal.

They continued to hone their bold songwriting and genre-bending musicianship on their debut full-length, 2014’s ‘Lift Your Existence’. After the mass critical acclaim that followed, they returned in 2016 with the full-length ‘Into The Vanishing Light’ produced by legendary producer Ross Robinson (Slipknot, At The Drive In). The album was the band’s first release after signing with Equal Vision Records, and marked their last album with a vocalist.

The band released their first instrumental album 2018, with the critically acclaimed ‘From The Gallery Of Sleep’, which cemented them as fearless, genre-defying innovators. Dubbed “The Salvador Dali of prog-metal” by Noisey / Vice, the album was hailed as "boundary-breaking prog" (Revolver), "ambitious and creative" (Exclaim!) and "a layered prog masterpiece" (Distorted Sound).

Now after a 5-year wait that's felt like an eternity, NIGHT VERSES are back to reclaim their rightful place at the forefront of progressive heavy music. With over 15 million career streams and unanimously glowing critical praise for their first four releases, the stage is set for NIGHT VERSES to ascend to even greater heights.

NEW ALBUM OMEN OUT SEPTEMBER 29 VIA ARISING EMPIRE

Michigan's Of Virtue have released the video for new single "
Holy," the latest track off their upcoming album Omen, out September 29 via Arising Empire.

Watch the "Holy" video
below.

Stream and download the song
here.

Vocalist Tyler Ennis comments, "I wrote 'Holy' after a relationship which meant a lot to me ended. It was difficult, I wanted to apologize for who I was and 'Holy' is how I made my best attempt. All in all, 'Holy' is about holding yourself accountable and realizing that it's possible that you were the reason why something, in this case my relationship, didn't work out the way we had wanted it to."

Omen will be available in limited colored vinyl and CD, along with unique merch options at the Arising Empire online shop, Impericon, and band shop. Pre-order Omen
here.

Of Virtue combinse an eclectic taste for the melodic, catchy, and ethereal with a foundation seeping with  brooding, thick guitars, thanks to guitarists Damon Tate and Mike Valadez, along with a penchant for multi-faceted vocal tonalities shared by vocalists Tyler Ennis and Damon Tate. All of this is brought together by the monstrous rhythm section featuring Ryan Trinh on drums. With this lineup at their disposal, Of Virtue have cemented themselves a diverse and engaging act, drawing influence from all types and styles of music to create something their own. With, Omen, on the way they have even further expanded on what makes them who they are, and by doing so they bring a warning — tread lightly and base today on yesterday or you may not get to tomorrow.

TesseracT Share "The Grey" Visualizer — LISTEN // Immersive Video Game

TESSERACT UNLEASH NEW SINGLE "THE GREY" WITH VISUALIZER ALONGSIDE IMMERSIVE VIDEO GAME "WAR OF BEING" — WATCH

NEW ALBUM WAR OF BEING OUT SEPTEMBER 15 VIA KSCOPE

Following their earth-shattering return with an announcement of a world tour, new single, and epic, 11-minute cinematic video for title track "War Of Being," TesseracT continue their journey into The Strangeland in the form of new single "The Grey."

Watch the visualizer for the track here.

"The Grey" builds on signature grooves that undulate in TesseracT's sound, flanked by polyrhythmic rhythms tied together by the band's iconic melodies. It's yet another example of the multi-faceted appeal of their sound and proves that they can craft immediate and affecting tracks just as masterfully as their epic 11-minute opuses.

Regarding the track, Amos Williams says, "'The Grey' explores the story and character within The Strangeland of the same name — a character who has suppressed their own voice to the point that they have blended into the shadows, their story lost amongst the white noise of the world. Through the song, we experience their journey as they wrestle with their frustration and sorrow at how they have ended up this way.

"It's a powerful, energetic piece that pushes each member of TesseracT to a next level of musicianship and expression. And continues to shine a light upon the diversity that can be expected from War Of Being."

Alongside the release of the single is a fully functional, immersive video game titled "War Of Being." Launched on August 11, the user can enter the world of the album bridging the gap between listening and experience to create a living, breathing concept that brings you closer to the world of TesseracT than ever before.

In celebration of the early access game, the band have made a visualiser for the single which incorporates areas seen in the game alongside the track itself. The visualiser was made by Amos Williams.

In the game's 'Early Access’,'fans can expect to explore several surreal landscapes, meet characters from the concept of "War Of Being" and solve puzzles in order to unlock parts of TesseracT's second single "The Grey." The end of the game will unlock the full song where the play can listen from within the same breathtaking landscapes used in the "War Of Being" music video.

Download + play here.

After finishing the album recording in August 2022, singer and frontman Daniel Tompkins immediately began his focus on developing "War Of Being" VR and desktop computer game based entirely on the album's original concept, created by Williams and himself. Tompkins is the lead designer and developer of the game alongside Adam Boyt (Programmer/Developer) and Kirsty Harvey (3D Designer).

Regarding the game, Tompkins says, "As a keen gamer and livestreamer, I have always understood the potential waiting for a musical project to bridge the gap between the gaming and music worlds and with such a visually stunning concept, I could see that this was the perfect opportunity to bring it to life in virtual reality and as a desktop game. This has been without a doubt the biggest project I have personally ever undertaken and is a huge achievement for our developers. It has pushed us to our absolute limits and I'm so proud to have accomplished the beginnings of a fully developed game on Steam."

The game will be available exclusively on Steam and playable in VR on Viva/Rift S and Oculus accompanied by a SteamDeck playable version.

War Of Being was recorded at Middle Farm Studios in the United Kingdom with Peter Miles (Architects/Sylosis/Dodie) co-producing with the band alongside Katherine Marsh of Choir Noir (Bring Me The Horizon/Architects/Marillion). Assisting with additional programming and production, the band was joined by Randy Slaugh (Periphery, Architects, Devin Townsend), with additional engineering by Forrester Savell (Karnivool). The artwork, which features characters "ex" and "el," was created in collaboration between AI and human as a means to extend the concept into its presentation.

The album will be available in a variety of formats that include the following:

— Deluxe version — "The Strangeland" – a limited edition collector's 3 Disc, 68 page Hardback Book Edition containing the War Of Being audio CD/a DVD/a Blu-Ray  that features "The Journey of Being" 40-minute documentary on the making of War Of Being, "The Strangeland," an in-depth view of the characters of War Of Being, the 1- minute feature length video and album in 5.1 Surround — strictly limited to 1,500 copies worldwide.

ASINHELL, Featuring Volbeat's Michael Poulsen, Share "Island of Dead Men" — LISTEN

ASINHELL SHARE "ISLAND OF DEAD MEN"

BAND FEATURES VOLBEAT'S MICHAEL POULSEN, MARC GREWE (INSIDIOUS DISEASE, EX-MORGOTH), +  MORTEN TOFT HANSEN (RAUNCHY)

DEBUT ALBUM IMPII HORA OUT SEPTEMBER 29 VIA METAL BLADE RECORDS

For more than 20 years, vocalist/guitarist Michael Poulsen has been spearheading Danish rock and roll machine Volbeat, releasing eight full-lengths, selling millions of albums, and filling stadiums worldwide. Before fronting Volbeat, however, Poulsen formed death metal band Dominus, which recorded four fast, brutal albums in the mid '90s. When Poulsen was putting together songs for Volbeat's 2021 album, Servant of the Mind, he wrote a bunch of death metal riffs and saved them on his phone. Then, when he was done with the Volbeat record, he reopened the rusty gates to Armageddon and started putting together songs for his new death metal band Asinhell, whose debut album Impii Hora (Latin for "Ungodly Hour"), is a tribute to Poulsen's favorite old-school groups.

Impii Hora will be released September 29 via Metal Blade. Pre-order it
here.

Today, the band has shared "Island of Dead Men." Watch below.

"'Island of Dead Men' was the second song I wrote for the album," says Poulsen. "It's one of the faster and more aggressive songs on the record, but with a groovy Death chorus and a solid middle piece that hails the mighty Autopsy. Enjoy… or don't!"

Poulsen has rekindled the death metal fire that fueled his first band Dominus. He began jamming on riffs with longtime friend and neighbor, drummer Morten Toft Hansen (Raunchy). The two started playing in Morten's tiny garage: no mics, no P.A. — just a drum kit and a combo amp turned all the way up like they used when they were teenagers. Soon, the pair were completing a new song every time they got together. When it came time to add vocals, Poulsen turned to his good friend, who also happened to be one of his all-time favorite death metal growlers: Marc Grewe (Insidious Disease, ex-Morgoth).

"I had known Michael quite a long time and he always mentioned that we should do a death metal project one day, but I never took him too seriously because he was so busy with Volbeat," Grewe says. "Then he called for real and said, 'Yeah, I want to do it now. Are you up for it?' Immediately, I was like, 'Yes, of course!'"

With Asinhell fully formed, the three convened with Volbeat producer Jacob Hansen to produce, mix, and play bass on their debut album. When it was time to add lead guitar to the album, Michael looked no further than friend and The Arcane Order axeman Flemming C. Lund.

The album will be available in the following formats:
*Jewel case CD
*180g Black Vinyl (Europe excl.)
*Crimson Red Marbled Vinyl (Europe excl.)
*White Vinyl (Europe excl., ltd. 1000)
*Gold/Black Dust (EMP excl., ltd.300)

Ministry Announces 16th Album “HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES” Coming March 1, 2024

As the world continues hanging on by a thread through pandemics, wildfires, climate change, social-political chaos and social media-fueled conspiracy theories, at least there’s Ministry to get us through. Industrial provocateur Al Jourgensen is ready to unleash his latest missives with Ministry’s groundbreaking 16th album, HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES, slated for release March 1, 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Today, the six-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated multiplatinum act gives the first taste of the new material with the official release of “Goddamn White Trash,” featuring Pepper Keenan, a song that made its debut on Ministry’s headline tour earlier this year.

See the video for “Goddamn White Trash,” directed by Dean Karr, below.

Over the course of 9 tracks, Jourgensen is righteously cantankerous as ever about a f***ed up world ripe for a boot up its ass. Like always, he's merely looking around at the same dumpster fire we all are, but he's got a microphone and uses it well to rage on about the state of the world.

“Just like you or anybody else, I’m simply a passenger in this lifetime,” says Jourgensen. “I’m watching social changes, political changes, and economic changes, and I comment on them because I do have a First Amendment right. A lot of people say artists and athletes should shut up and play ball. No, I’m on this trip too. If I see something, I say something. That reflects on where each album goes. Instead of staying sedentary and singing about broken relationships, inner turmoil, or whatever is hurting this week, I comment on what’s going on from the perspective of a fellow passenger.”

Joined by Ministry’s current frontline of musicians – John Bechdel (keyboards), Monte Pittman and Cesar Soto (guitars), Roy Mayorga (drums) and Paul D’Amour (bass) – HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES also has a slew of special guest contributors including Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hutz, long-time collaborator and Lard companion Jello Biafra and Corrosion of Conformity frontman Pepper Keenan.

HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES will be available in three vinyl variants, a CD jewelcase and digital/streaming platforms. The vinyl variants include:green with yellow splatter (in stores everywhere); blue with pink splatter (nuclear blast exclusive); red with white splatter (band/tour exclusive).

Pre-order HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES HERE

The release of HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES follows Ministry’s acclaimed 2021 album Moral Hygiene that kickstarted another era for the band. The critically acclaimed LP wound up on year-end lists from the likes of Consequence of Sound and Loudwire, as the band continued to sell out venues coast-to-coast on the Industrial Strength tour.

Beginning August 24, Ministry will embark on the Freaks On Parade Tour, supporting Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper.

ABOUT MINISTRY

Born in 1981 in Chicago, Ministry has been the lifetime passion project of founder Al Jourgensen, considered to be the pioneer of industrial music. In its early days, Ministry was identifiable by its heavy synth-pop material in line with the new sounds and technology that were being developed in the ‘80s. Ministry’s output began with four 12” singles on Wax Trax! Records in 1981 before the first LP With Sympathy in 1983 via Arista Records. As time progressed however, so did Ministry, quickly developing a harsher, and more stylized sound that the band soon became infamous for on seminal albums Twitch (1986), The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste (1989). With the release of Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and The Way to Suck Eggs (1992), Ministry hit an all-time high in the mainstream musical realm and received its first Grammy nomination. In total, Ministry has been nominated for a Grammy award six times. Eight more albums would follow before an indefinite break in 2013, only to be unearthed again in 2018 with AmeriKKKant, continuing to reflect Jourgensen’s views on the frightening state of society and politics. The 2021 album Moral Hygiene marked a new creative era of Jourgensen and the band. Ministry’s 16th studio album, HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES, will be released in early 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.

NITE Reissue 'Darkness Silence Mirror Flame'

NITE come from a long and storied line of heavy metal. The Bay Area gave birth to titans like Metallica. And while it’s not what most metalheads imagine when they go to their happy place, Northern California’s sunny climate did inspire Death to cross over into death metal.

'Darkness Silence Mirror Flame' carries that torch with pride. NITE's debut album will be available for the first time through Season of Mist on October 27. Order it today on CD Digipak, black or ash grey vinyl, or as a digital download
HERE.

Every member of NITE has played in other bands that span from coast to coast, but they came together around San Francisco in 2018. It didn’t take long before they were making their presence known, either.  'Darkness Silence Mirror Flame' appeals to old metalheads and nu-comers alike.

Just rewatch the video for the album's lead single
HERE. "The Way" carves a fresh blood line between '80s thrash and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Badass riffs come roaring out the gate, shooting off starblinding melodic leads, and the steel-toed drum beat has more muscle than a Harley Road King. But NITE didn't come to worship the past. Van Labrakis' blackened vocals snuff out any warm and fuzzy feelings, like a blot on the sun.

The San Francisco Bay Area has a history steeped in forward-thinking, technically dazzling metal, and NITE carries that torch with pride. Founded in 2018, their blackened heavy metal brand barrels towards the peril of an unknown future, while keeping one eye on the days when blistering leads once ruled the land. Guitarists Van Labrakis (Satan’s Wrath, Mencea) and Scott Hoffman (Dawnbringer, High Spirits) let loose galloping riffs and harmonies that evoke the classic sounds of the N.W.O.B.H.M., with Labrakis’ grizzled voice driving their dark, melodic metal into the modern era.

With Avinash Mittur (Wild Hunt) replacing founding bassist Bryan Coons in early 2021, he and drummer Patrick Crawford (Serpents of Dawn, Older Sun) make up a rhythm section that’s fierce yet breathlessly precise: a freewheel pounding reminiscent of the early days of heavy metal, with a Rickenbacker-powered roar fueling the low end. NITE’s debut full-length Darkness Silence Mirror Flame, released in March 2020 by Creator-Destructor Records, earned widespread praise. It showcased their fist-raising classic heavy metal that nearly every fan of the genre once fell in love with, but with a twisted and shadowy edge that the titans of old could never imagine. NITE is the flame of the past illuminating the darkness of tomorrow.

Lineup

Van Labrakis - Guitar, Vocals
Scott Hoffman - Guitar

END Announce New Album "The Sin of Human Frailty" + Share "Gaping Wounds of Earth" — WATCH🔚🌍

END — guitarist Will Putney, vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarist Gregory Thomas, bassist Jay Pepito, and drummer Matt Guglielmo — will release their second album The Sin of Human Frailty on October 27 via Closed Casket Activities. Pre-order it here.

Today, the band has shared the video for the enraged first singe "
Gaping Wounds of Earth." Watch it below.

"'Gaping Wounds of Earth' is a jarring and chaotic exploration into what it feels like to be uncomfortable in your own skin," the band says. "The spiral of a broken human continues. As in all our work, there is no light at the end of this tunnel."

END initially materialized during 2017. The group's From the Unforgiving Arms of God EP spawned the fan favorite "Necessary Death," and lead to a signing with label Closed Casket Activities. Highlighted by "Covet Not" and "Absence," the band bulldozed the senses with their 2020 full-length debut, Splinters From an Ever-Changing Face. Brooklyn Vegan hailed "Pariah" as "an absolutely filthy dose of modern metalcore," and Kerrang! went as far as to describe their debut LP as "catharsis fed through a distortion pedal and shaped into a dense, destructive wrecking ball." Perhaps, Invisible Oranges put it best" "These gentlemen have come together to summon a fury seldom heard on any album from the realms of hardcore, grind, and black metal…"

In 2023, the members congregated once again to write and recorded what would become this sophomore release. "Part of the goal was to do things our way," states Putney. "We didn't want to lean on our influences too heavily, whether it's in terms of production, guitar tone, arrangement, or other elements. We were like, 'Let's just make a record that sounds like END.' I feel like there's more of an identity to the band than there has ever been on this record." The final result is a unique blend of HM2 driven Grind and Metallic Hardcore cross over with moments of Industrial chaos over ten tracks. Featuring guest vocal appearances by J.R. Hayes (Pig Destroyer), Debbie Gough (Heriot), and Dylan Walker (Full of Hell), this Graphic Nature Audio recording clocks in over 30 minutes of unhinged aggression and grind. Produced and engineered by Will Putney and featuring the art of Alex Eckman-Lawn, this release pushes the complexity of END both sonically and visually. Vinyl comes packaged in a ten panel die-cut jacket, pressed on deluxe colored vinyl and with a digital download code.

END will embark on a U.S. tour with Full of Hell in the fall. All dates are below.

SVALBARD - release melancholic composition 'How To Swim Down' alongside heart-breaking animated video

DON'T BREAK THE SPELL
I'LL NEVER TELL
WHY WE WON'T DROWN
IF WE SWIM DOWN...

Svalbard have released the third single from their forthcoming new studio album, The Weight Of The Mask, due out on October 6th. The track titled 'How To Swim Down' is Svalbard's most unique and moving work to date, featuring heart-rending, ethereal violin parts from Liam Phelan, and a profound vocal performance from Serena Cherry.

The track is accompanied by a beautiful animated video, created by
Boy Tillkens. The heart-breaking animation is a delicate portrayal of humanity, detailing the tenderness and strength found in existence.

Svalbard's Serena Cherry commented,

"This song is about the exquisite pain and sorrowful beauty of unrequited love. I think it's the saddest, most heart-breaking song we've ever written. Lyrically, the starting point of the verse is about the concealment of adoration, before the chorus gives way to realizing and accepting the fate of loving someone quietly from afar.

I cannot watch the music video for How To Swim Down without crying. Boy has captured the bittersweet emotion of the song so delicately, it's an incredibly moving piece of animation to watch.

Musically, How To Swim Down saw us dive into unchartered waters with Liam adding many layers of mournful violin parts onto the track. Finally, violins - for the first time in Svalbard history! It feels so exciting to have new instruments on a song. Another first is that How To Swim Down features only clean vocals, no screams. I wanted the vocal delivery of these lyrics to feel as though I'm whispering a secret to someone whilst they're sleeping. My vocals here represent that lonely type of communication, singing to yourself in an empty house. It's a private, selfless love song, where only the listener knows of my heartache."

The Weight Of The Mask was recorded at The Ranch Production House, UK. The record was produced and mixed by Lewis Johns, with mastering by Grant Berry. Engineering was handled by Lewis Johns, assisted by Matt Janke, with additional editing by Kel Pinchin and Sebastien Sendon.

Svalbard's intention with their music is to make people feel less alone and to be there for people in their darkest times. The Weight Of The Mask bravely lays out experiences of mental illness and depression, hoping to help destigmatize these topics.

Svalbard finished an extensive tour across the continent supporting post-metal monoliths Cult Of Luna and Russian Circles earlier this year, and the band are currently in the midst of a string of European summer festival performances. They've recently played the likes of Inferno (Norway), Hellfest (France), and With Full Force (Germany), plus2000Trees and Portals in the UK. Their remaining festival dates are listed below.

SVALBARD will be returning to the EU mainland for six headline show dates in October, which will be followed by a performance at the Cult Of Luna curated Beyond The Redshift event in London and a headline date at The Key Club in Leeds.

Summer Festivals
11-13 Aug - BE, Kortrijk, Alcatraz Festival
16-19 Aug - UK, Compton Martin, ArcTanGent
October Dates

15 Oct - DE Cologne, Helios 37
16 Oct - DE Berlin, Urban Spree

19 Oct - FR Paris, Backstage By The Mill

20 Oct - UK London, Beyond The Redshift - curated by Cult Of Luna
21 Oct - UK Leeds, The Key Club

Formed in Bristol UK, Svalbard have released three studio albums, three EPs and several split releases. Their exceptional last studio album, 2020's When I Die, Will I Get Better? was dubbed by Metal Hammer UK as "the most important British metal record of 2020", with both Metal Hammer and Kerrang! lauding the record as a top 10 album of the year. A career milestone, it cemented Svalbard as a powerful and vital component of our global music scene.

Whilst refining their distinctive blend of euphoric black metal, post-rock, and d-beat, Svalbard have incorporated a few more surprising influences along the way. From soft, mournful singing to progressive guitar leads, it showcases a sensitive dynamic that lends impact to their most crushing moments - of which there are undoubtedly many. There’s no poetry, no ambiguity - just direct, raw honesty as the quartet tackles some very uncomfortable subjects head-on. This is heavy in the most evocative sense of the word. The blunt lyrics are equally as important as the music.

Svalbard are:
Vocals/Guitar - Serena Cherry
Vocals/Guitar - Liam Phelan
Drums - Mark Lilley
Bass - Matt Francis

HORRENDOUS Invite You Inside 'Ontological Mysterium'

When Horrendous started working on their fifth album, Philly's filthiest and finest death metal band wanted to acknowledge the bombast of late '80s and early '90s heavy metal, while blazing a path forward into uncharted territory. They were awfully successful, too. With 'Ontological Mysterium', these guys made a classic of their own.

'Ontological Mysterium' is now streaming in full below.

Horrendous are also hosting a listening party for their new album on Bandcamp this Wednesday at 9 pm EST. Fans can listen to 'Ontological Mysterium' while chatting with members of the band. RSVP for the listening party
HERE

'Ontological Mysterium' is a labyrinth. The deeper in you go, the more this album twists and churns, luring you toward some monstrous final battle. The riffs on
the title track slice like the blades of an Apache helicopter, while the battle cry that opens "Cult of Shaad'oah" will make you feel like you're about to carve up a volcano full of giant, flaming snake warriors.

But 'Ontological Mysterium has other surprises up its robe.
"Preterition Hymn"is a lament for the weary that cascades like sweet, sweet tears. And with elastic bass, fluorescent synths, a jazzy ride cymbal and a finger-tapped guitar solo that will bring you to your knees, "Aurora Neoterica" is about as sleek and sexy as death metal gets.

"Somehow these guys can take Iron Maiden, mesh it with '90s prog-influenced death metal masters like Atheist, dispense with traditional metal song structures and create something that you've never heard before," writes
Metal Injection

Angry Metal Guy says: "Horrendous have knocked out another triumph of intelligent, sumptuous progressive death, cementing themselves as one of the most important death metal bands of the past decade.

Here's what the band has to say about their new album: "We can't believe the time has come to unveil 'Ontological Mysterium'! An indescribable amount of determination, suffering, joy, and love went into this record, from the first seeds of writing in early 2019, through periods of extreme rethinking and revision over the pandemic lockdown, to the adrenaline-fueled, highly experimental, and at times circus-like recording sessions. We feel that this is the most "Horrendous" album yet - the one that best distills who we are and celebrates how far we've come on this continuing journey. We hope that you enjoy OM, and that it breathes some wonder into your life during these trying times".

'Ontological Mysterium' will be released on August 18, 2023 by Season of Mist. Pre-save the album HEREPre-order it HERE

Let your chariot ride!

Horrendous are on the cover of the September issue of Decibel magazine. Order a copy and get an exclusive limited edition The Silver flexi disc.

"After years of incredible support from Decibel Magazine, we are honored to make it to the cover of their next issue", the band says. "Eternal thanks to Albert Mudrian for always believing in our music, Mike Wohlberg for all of his artistic contributions to the band, and Scott Kinkade for capturing us masterfully, and everyone out there who has supported us."

“Surprises always come up during writing — spontaneous ideas pull you into new territory and enable the realization of novel possibilities that previously were inaccessible.”

Such are the words from Horrendous drummer Jamie Knox when discussing the creation of the band’s fifth full-length, the highly anticipated 'Ontological Mysterium'. Knox’s quote also encapsulates Horrendous’s approach to extreme metal. Since 2009, the band has capably tapped into the inaccessible by providing a fresh, unconventional take on death metal that harnesses technical brilliance with elaborate, mind-melding melodies, frothy, spewing vocals and labyrinthine song structures. This combination has made each Horrendous long play a clinic in the gratifyingly unorthodox. The trend continues on Ontological Mysterium.

The follow-up to 2018’s Idol was recorded, mixed and mastered at Subterranean Watchtower Studios in Virginia, which doubles as the homestead of guitarist/vocalist Damian Herring. While the band (completed by guitarist/vocalist Matt Knox and bassist Alex Kulick) finished much of the songwriting for Ontological Mysterium in 2019, its recording was delayed by the 2020 global pandemic and various life events. Horrendous eventually finished recording in early 2022 and mastered the album before the start of 2023.

The album upholds Horrendous’s position as one of the underground’s best outside-of-the-box extreme metal bands. Having long abandoned concern whether people would appreciate their “uniqueness,” Horrendous has embraced its role as a band willing to veer far from death metal conventions, intentionally stretching and breaking norms. To wit, the band primarily views its music as filtered through a death metal lens. This may be Horrendous’s defining trait: By not accepting parameters, nothing is off-limits.
