The new live album, Die In Fire - Live In Hell, by ruthless Swedish black metal collective WATAIN is out today through Nuclear Blast Records.

After 25 years of madness and mayhem that manifested in seven studio albums, WATAIN‘s intense and much talked-about live rituals remain in a league of their own. Experience the raw power and fiery precision captured perfectly on this live recording from a sold out show that took place in October 2022 in Stockholm, and features fan favourites from albums such as Casus Luciferi, Lawless Darkness, The Wild Hunt, Trident Wolf Eclipse and of course the band's latest offering, The Agony And Ecstasy of Watain, as well as the BATHORY cover 'The Return Of Darkness And Evil'. The audio was recorded by Jamie Elton and mastered by Tore Stjerna at Necromorbus Studio.

”With the videos for the live album we have attempted to convey at least a fraction of the primal psychedelic malevolence that possess us when we perform.

The majority of the footage is from the same concert in Stockholm at which the album was recorded. It was then slaughtered and remolded by the skilled and manic artists credited at the end of the video. Turn off your mind, shut out the modern world and dissappear into these analogue nightmare visions of darkness and ecstasy.”

Ruthless Swedish black metal collective WATAIN has shared a second single from the upcoming live album, Die In Fire - Live In Hell, out November 3rd 2023 through Nuclear Blast Records. The live version of 'Ecstasies in Night Infinite', the ferocious opening track of WATAIN's latest album, The Agony And Ecstasy Of Watain, coincides with the release of another music video for the single, once again directed by Johan Bååth.

Today, notorious Swedish black metal collective WATAIN is proud to unveil the third and final single from their upcoming new studio album, "The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain," which will be released on April 29th, 2022.

The song is called "We Remain" and represents the deepest shadow of the album. A profound contemplation on the winding abyss of the past. Fearlessly extending across the known borders of Watain's musical wilderness, "We Remain" also features noble contributions by Farida Lemouchi (ex The Devil's Blood, now Molassess) and Gottfrid Åhman (ex In Solitude, now PÅGÅ).

The video for "We Remain" was directed by Johan Bååth who has been documenting WATAIN's journey through the world for many years.

"I begun writing "We Remain" in 2012, as a meditation on the concept of Mythopoeia; our mythical origins and how our understanding and approach to them is shaped and transformed throughout time. The lyric is built around the five elemental wings of the Pentagram, and the mysteries embedded in that ancient symbol. It is a song about forgotten things that ought to be remembered, the search for truths that were lost, of the ever burning flame that illuminates the darkness of times immemorial, the passing of aeons and and our ponderable place therein."

Watain crawled out of Satan’s cunt in 1998, and has since then ascended and grown into one of the world’s most well known and notorious Black Metal bands. Their legacy is often referred to with fear, love, confusion or awe, but seldom with indifference.

Their infamous live shows have become a worldwide phenomenon; inimitable ceremonies of wild Black Metal fanatism where the sacred and solemn collides with raw unadulterated force. With their greatly anticipated seventh studio album, Watain continues to arouse and electrify their audience with an unmistakable, adventurous brand of Black Metal Magic, processed and distilled over the course of a 25-year long history.

Recorded live by long time collaborator Tore Stjerna in his infamous Necromorbus studio, now re-located to an old church on the Swedish countryside, ”The Agony & Ecstasy of Watain” takes the listener one huge step closer to the innermost heart of a band that despite always being surrounded by rumors and controversy has always strived for a most sincere and genuine form of expression.

With 10 songs written by the founding trinity of Watain (E. Danielsson, H. Jonsson and P. Forsberg), it is also the first Watain album to be recorded live with a full line up completed by A. Lillo, H. Eriksson and E. Forcas.

Notorious Swedish black metal collective WATAIN is proud to unleash "The Howling" - the first single from their upcoming new studio album, "The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain," which will be released on April 29th, 2022.

"The Howling" sets the tone for what will be offered on the band's 7th full-length, an unsettling blackened voyage in 10 chapters that is as inexorably vicious as it is enticing.

E. Danielsson (vocals) adds:
"The Howling refers to the wordless voice of the wild, wailing eerily through the ages, urging us to leave our safe spaces and explore the dark recesses of the great Abyss both within and without. To see it, to learn from it, to know it. "

Notorious Swedish black metal collective WATAIN is proud to announce that it will join forces with equally infamous Norwegian black metal legends MAYHEM for a tour through North America, aptly labeled "The Sanguine Sodomy Of North America," starting on March 7th, 2022. They will be supported by US blackened speed metal punks MIDNIGHT.

WATAIN and MAYHEM issued the following statement:
"Mayhem and Watain are delighted to announce that what is to become known in history as the sanguine sodomy of North America is set to take place in the spring of 2022, with both our bands at the helm and with the infamous Midnight joining us as special guests. We hereby invite all of our North American friends and foes to celebrate the return of Darkness and Evil to your lands, and to join us in what is destined to become one legendary Hell of a tour!"

WATAIN have just wrapped up the recording of their seventh studio album, which will be released in Spring 2022 through Nuclear Blast.
