Pinkshift Share "Vacant" Video

Maryland trio PINKSHIFT recently announced their new album EARTHKEEPER, which arrives August 29 via Hopeless Records. Pre-order it here

Today, the band has shared the video for the uptempo, punk rock anthem "Vacant." Watch the late-night dance party, inspired by a surprising source, below.

"For 'Vacant,' we drew upon our ever-present punk influences to create a sound that feels familiar while also introducing concepts new to us," the band states. "Though we're no strangers to breakdowns, the one in this song was inspired by grunge jam sections rather than hardcore/metalcore, and ended up becoming of the grooviest parts we've ever written."

The band finishes, "'Vacant' is cheeky, urgent, and energetic, and we wanted to reflect that visually with a lighthearted, un-serious music video. Inspired by Beyonce's '7/11' video, it showcases the three of us and our two touring members, Michael and Kirby, just hanging out. A simple concept, but it captures our genuine selves connecting and reconnecting with the song and each other as we have a late-night dance party."

Awaken I Am is an alternative rock band from Australia, fronted by producer and vocalist Jimmy Alexander.

The band’s journey has been marked by resilience and evolution. In 2018, as they wrapped their first U.S. tour, tragedy struck back home in Brisbane. Guitarist Connor Verner-Oakley, just 22, lost his life in a devastating incident involving an intentional reckless driver. In the wake of this unimaginable loss, Awaken I Am channeled their grief into creativity, diving into the writing and recording process. The resulting songs became a cathartic tribute to their fallen bandmate—honoring his memory while confronting the pain of his absence.

As the world faced lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, the band continued forging ahead, writing what would become their most personal and powerful work to date. Produced by Jimmy Alexander (Rain City Drive), their upcoming full-length album, The Only Way Out Is Through, is set for release in 2025.

The band's sound, shaped by tragedy, growth, and perseverance, continues to evolve. Their recent singles have showcased this transformation—starting with “Relic,” followed by “Turn To Stone,” which earned a spot in SiriusXM Octane’s rotation in February. Now, "Vacant", the latest single, is set to release on Friday, April 25th, offering yet another glimpse into the raw emotional landscape the band explores with every release.

Awaken I Am stands as a testament to turning pain into power, always moving forward—through loss, through change, and through sound.

OVERSIZE Share Video For New Track "Vacant' —

OVERSIZE have revealed their new single "Vacant," another glimpse of their stunning debut album Vital Signs, due February 28 via SharpTone.

Watch the video below.

Stream the song here.

Of the single, the band comments, "''Vacant' is one of the few album tracks that made its way into our live set pre-release, it's one of our favorite songs to play live, and we're really stoked to release it as the last single before our album comes out."

Oversize continue, "Lyrically, the song focuses around a lack of connection and communication with the people around you, how easy it is to get complacent, and not check in with someone, or open up with how you're really feeling."

OVERSIZE have already turned the heads of many tastemakers in the UK scene, with rave reviews and rapt attention from Dan P Carter, Alyx Holcombe, and Jack Saunders at BBC R1. In their short time as a band, OVERSIZE have already performed at Outbreak Festival, and supported Militarie Gun, Higher Power, Fiddlehead, Boston Manor, and many more.

Although still very much in its infancy, the group — which formed in the South West of England — has already developed a fully-formed, personal sound. Elements of post-hardcore, alternative metal, shoegaze, and emo combine to deliriously heady effect. While the band doesn't shy away from its love of alternative '90s music, and a love of HUM, Smashing Pumpkins, Deftones, and Pixies, OVERSIZE have very little interest in being sonically tied to the past.

The band members and the shared experience of writing and playing live together has found them carving out their own space within the alternative scene in just a handful of years. Exploring the vast range of dynamics within their music, songs drift between atmospheric textures to loud fuzzy riffs, magnifying and complimenting the personal and often venerable vocals.
