The Hirsch Effekt bassist Ilja John Lappin on PALINGENESIS:

"PALINGENESIS is my contribution to the SOLITAER EP, on which each band member wrote a song. It's the memory of a path that I inevitably had to take. When life as we knew it suddenly came to a stop with the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was forced to confront a very dark place that I had mentally arrived at. A crisis of purpose, sealed by a cycle of loneliness and depression as well as the tireless and at the same time unstable routine of the previous years, unfolded with full force in a new, unknown surrounding. During this long period of isolation, I took a desperately needed break for myself. In able to stop. In able to understand who I actually had become over the years and where I had landed in life. PALINGENESIS is a hymn to the battle itself. To your own strength, of which you're often sure you no longer have, especially when greater, darker clouds are gathering on the horizon once again. A hymn to the fight back to your own heartbeat."

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT Announce New EP 'SOLITAER'

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT Announce New EP 'SOLITAER' Coming August 26th, 2022

German progressive metal trio The Hirsch Effekt have announced their new EP, 'SOLITAER', for August 26th, 2022.

The social distancing restrictions of the Corona era prompted The Hirsch Effekt to take a radical step: what if you not only recorded by yourself for the next release, but also wrote the songs completely alone? One song per band member. And so came about the concept of SOLITAER, which means "living individually" and thus represents the antonym to gregarious - Social distancing as a songwriting concept. The opinion of the other band members was welcome, but required no necessity and didn’t need to influence the work of the respective musicians. In the end, three songs were created - all of which showcase typical characteristics that are part of The Hirsch Effekt recipe, but do not sound like typical The Hirsch Effekt songs. It not only sounds like an extremely exciting experiment, but also frankly speaking: exceedingly extreme. The SOLITAER EP is rounded off by a band version of the song "Gregaer", which was originally created as an orchestral version.

'SOLITAER' will be released as:

  • limited and serially-numbered LP Edition incl. black vinyl

  • Exclusive Napalm Records Shop Edition incl. colored vinyl

  • CD Edition incl. both 'SOLITAER' and 'GREGAER' EP's

  • Streaming/Digital

Also, The Hirsch Effekt's latest vinyl EP, 'GREGAER', is now available again as a limited reissue with a red-colored LP.

All formats are available for pre-order here: https://thehirscheffekt.lnk.to/solitaer

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT Offer Commentary On Current Events With Their New Single "NARES"

It's December 2021 and the Coronavirus pandemic continues to be the dominant topic everywhere. "If not now, when?" thought German progressive metal three-piece The Hirsch Effektwith their song "NARES", which serves as not only a surprising new single, but also the band's personal commentary on current events.

Listen to "NARES" below

The Hirsch Effekt about their new single "NARES":

"Besides lockdowns, home office, zoom calls, homeschooling, test centers, and crude freedom struggle comparisons with Sophie Scholl, the COVID pandemic in Germany has brought forth especially one thing above all else: dozens of ways to wear mouth-nose protection. As different as the Germans are, so are also the possibilities of pulling the mask over your face the wrong way. This mirrors the curious expression of individuality that is typical of a country in which one is incapable to understand that the freedom of the individual ends where that of the other begins. Racing unvaccinated with 200 kilometers per hour across the autobahn in order to shop your Demeter certified de-wormer in the organic supermarket while wearing the mask under your nose. It doesn't work any place better than here. Because no matter what science will find out, some professional soccer player, who still expresses personal concerns about it, will always be found as well. And to him exactly, The Hirsch Effekt want to sing a song of worship, that he may remain true to himself and have his own opinion."

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT Line Up:

Moritz Schmidt (Drums)

Nils Wittrock (Guitar, Vocals)

Ilja John Lappin (Bass, Vocals)

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT Share Music Video for EP Title Track 'GREGÆR' - OUT NOW on Long Branch Records

German progressive metal trio The Hirsch Effekt have released a music video for the title track of their new EP 'GREGÆR'. Watch the video here

"We wrote GREGÆR together as a three-piece last year before our 'Corona-Tour' in Germany," says guitarist and singer Nils Wittrock. "Preliminary the writing process, we already chose to lay a fundament that would serve well and leave enough space for the upcoming orchestral arrangements of Anthony Williams. Lyrically, the song thematizes areas of conflict. On the one hand the personal resentment and frustration due to the Covid-19 pandemic and on the other hand the resentment and frustration over those forming in the anti-government 'Querdenker'-movement in Germany - a movement that either denies the existence of the virus or rejects the government measurements taken against it."

Bassist Ilja John Lappin comments on the new video, "The two chess players - who are the one and same person - symbolize the various parts of our society, that are trying to play off against each other. They gather together to play the game, knowing that in the end, only one side will win. The video was realized by young filmmaker Fabian Schmidt, who had been keen on working with the band already in previous times. Fabian's wish was also to include the band, yet in a different way than in the classical 'full band performance'. In this regard he chose to merely film the two singers of the song in a huge, dark room - thus including them into the story of the video. The minimalistic art of the video and the steady camera work form a counterpole to the hectically driving nature of the music."

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT SHARE VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "DEKLARATION"

Subscribe to our channel here: https://LBR.lnk.to/youtube "DEKLARATION" is taken from the The Hirsch Effekt album "KOLLAPS" released 08/05/2020 via Long Bran...

ALBUM "KOLLAPS" AVAILABLE NOW!

The Hirsch Effekt share their new single "DEKLARATION" along with a music video. It's the fourth single from the band's 5th studio album KOLLAPS released in May 2020 via Long Branch RecordsKOLLAPS encounters everyday madness with elaborate counterpoints and ludicrous lyric lines. In a heavier manner, the band slips into the roles of other, social actors to reflect the aspects of their agenda: a dispute with the systematic collapse is thematized from the perspective of the „Fridays For Future“-movement, depicted in a musical dainty or a bizarre way, then again also to corrode opposers in a strobe-like manner.

The Hirsch Effekt about the new single "DEKLARATION":

"Many of the riffs in "DEKLARATION" were written by Moritz. Funnily, all three members in the band have different opinions on how hard it's to master the playability of the song. The rhythmic pattern for the Meshuggah-esque part that can be heard shortly before the second chorus already existed already way back when writing „Eskapist“. It never made it on the album though. The lyrics were written partially in April of last year but only finished much later due to creative interruptions. Some of the lyrics had to be reformed and rewritten because of complications that came along with the usage of quotes and the rightful way of dealing with the subject."

KOLLAPS is available now as Box-Set, CD/LP+T-Shirt Bundle, CD, 2LP, Stream and Download. Order the album here thehirscheffekt.lnk.to/kollaps

After their last album Eskapist (2017), which charted #21 on the German album charts, and formidable show-offs at Wacken Open Air, Full Force Festival and as recent headliners at the renowned Euroblast Festival, The Hirsch Effekt have now spawned their new ogre. Musically, the trio from Hanover, Germany, has once again settled in the microcosm of progressive metal and enhanced their songs with their typical trademark of – at first glance totally out of the line – genre-hopping.

Similar as on previous records, it happens again by Hirsch-style chopping of parts and beats, that first off felt safe and usual. In between chorals resound, helping to find one's way back to a necessary recollection. On the one side it's a euphonious, on the other side a hurting listening experience that leads to a heightened perception of the exposure of the human disorientation, and serves as a call to the solitary consciousness of courageous individuals - to gather together at concerts.

Live, this symbolic demise is celebrated purification. This can be celebrated together with the fans at upcoming shows, by the way of indulging unison and clamor, questioning oneself whether the own heart and thoughts have gone prone to egoism or still are in line with the harmony of hope, that is hidden within Kollaps.

Moritz Schmidt (Drums)

THE HIRSCH EFFEKT SHARE NEW SINGLE "TORKA"

WARNING: This video may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised. Subscribe to our channel here: ht...

Album "KOLLAPS" Coming May 8th, 2020

The Hirsch Effekt share their new single TORKA along with a music video. It's the third track from the bands 5th studioalbum KOLLAPS coming May 8th, 2020 via Long Branch Records. KOLLAPS encounters everyday madness with elaborate counterpoints and ludicrous lyric lines.

TORKA is now available as Stream and Download on all digital platforms.

The Hirsch Effekt about the new single "TORKA":

"TORKA is another composition that was written by Ilja solely. Except for the drums and one guitar doubling all instruments were played by Ilja. The songs root can be found in the Industrial-like electronic bass figure that is first introduced in the intro and later picked up the bass guitar and even later by the guitars and drums. The ending is nothing less than a reprise of the interlude MOMENT, just in a band- instead of a strings arrangement. The lyrics of the song tell a fictional story that is settled on the Easter Island and deals, inter alia, with the extinction of its inhabitants. The same story is later continued on the album's title track KOLLAPS. TORKA belongs to the more melancholic songs on the album."
