RAGE Announce New EP 'Spreading The Plague'

German Power Metal band RAGE has come up with a special surprise for its followers to thank them for their loyalty and patience during the long wait enforced by the pandemic: In time for their major co-headlining tour alongside Brainstorm in October and November 2022 and as an appetizer for the things that await their fans, singer/bassist Peavy Wagner and his bandmates Jean Borman, Stefan Weber (both guitars) and Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos (drums) are set to launch their ‘Spreading The Plague’ EP, featuring three previously unreleased new songs as well as three exciting bonus tracks. Says Peavy“This is a thank-you to our fans who have stood by Rage for so many years. We really look forward to seeing everybody again at our upcoming shows.”

‘Spreading The Plague’ consists of the songs "To Live And To Die", "Spreading The Plague" and "The King Has Lost His Crown", all three from the production phase of Rage’s 2021 album ‘Resurrection Day’ and previously unreleased. Peavy explains: “These are numbers that we recorded at the same studio quality level as our ‘Resurrection Day’ material but have deliberately held back until now to have something special up our sleeve for our fans when we’ll be able to tour again at last.” ‘Resurrection Day’ was a major success for Rage: The album scored high chart positions in a number of countries in September 2021, such as number 14 in Germany, number 12 in Japan, number 38 in Switzerland, and a more than impressive number 46 and 81 in the US and Canada, respectively.

The new EP is complemented by three bonus tracks: ‘A New Land’ is a new unplugged version; ‘The Price Of War 2.0.’ was first released a few months ago as a digital single, including a video clip to introduce new band members Jean Borman and Stefan Weber, but has not yet been available on any physical record, same as the Rage classic ‘Straight To Hell’, a live stream from the Balve Cave venue in July 2020.

So there are plenty of exciting things in the offing: a new EP (complete with exciting cover artwork courtesy of Karim König, who has also designed ‘The Devil Strikes Back’ and ‘Seasons Of The Black’, among others) as well as a big European tour in October / November 2022. It’s safe to say that Rage fans have plenty to look forward to...

RAGE Release Lyric Video for New Single "The Age Of Reason" (Zardonic Remix)

RAGE are one of the real iconic metal bands. With an ongoing career of almost 40 years, the band has helped to shape German Heavy Metal as it is today. Now, for the first time ever, the band has collaborated with a remixer.

The idea of producing a remix from a RAGE song was born at a big metal festival in Japan some years ago when they met Federico Agreda Alvarez – better known as ZARDONIC, an internationally renowned DJ and remixer who's famous for his work with Bullet For My Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Syndicate, just to name a few.

The result is a pumping new version of the RAGE song “The Age Of Reason” RAGEas you have never heard it before!

The original version of "The Age Of Reason" can be found on the band's latest studio album, 'Resurrection Day', which was released on September 17th, 2021 through SPV/Steamhammer.

RAGE Announce New Studio Album 'Resurrection Day' - Out September 17 on Steamhammer/SPV

mail-59.jpeg

The band’s fans were overjoyed when in the Summer of 2020, RAGE frontman Peavy Wagner presented the group’s new line-up featuring two guitarists, announcing a return to the constellation that had recorded classics such as Black In Mind and End Of All Days. After last year’s departure of Marcos Rodriguez, Stefan Weber (ex-Axxis) was enlisted, followed just a few weeks later by Jean Bormann (Angel Inc, Rage & Ruins). The fourth band member is drummer Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos, who has been with Rage since 2015.

The current line-up could be seen and heard for the first time on the ´The Price Of War 2.0` video clip, a new edition of the same-named song from Black In Mind, which has been available on all major online channels since June 2020. Immediately afterward, the quartet commenced work on its brand-new album Resurrection Day.

“I`m surprised how quickly the new line-up has gelled into a homogeneous team and how positively the talents of each band member have come into effect,” says Wagner, looking back on a highly creative production phase and commenting on Rage’s latest offering, “I feel that our music is still typical Rage on the one hand while sounding so much fresher on the other.”

Rage have recorded twelve new songs covering a stylistic range that could hardly be more characteristic of the band, from raw thrash metal tracks like "Virginity" (also the first single and video), "The Age Of Reason" and "Extinction Overkill" through mid-tempo pieces such as "Arrogance And Ignorance" and "Monetary Gods" to the straightforward ballad "Black Room" which balances things out.

“Rage fans get exactly what they want on Resurrection Day, plus a surprise or two,” promises Peavy, mentioning in particular "Travelling Through Time"; a number that explores the extremes between bludgeoning 'shoot-em-up grooves' and epic moments.

“The song is inspired by Renaissance composer Giorgio Mainerio,” he explains. “There`s a piece by Mainerio called ´Schiarazula Marazula`, with a wonderful theme that I often play at home on acoustic guitar. Jean and I have adapted it to suit the Rage format and given the song a different rhythmic perspective, which has added intensity. We’ve never done a number like ´Travelling Through Time` before.”

RAGE Reveals New Line-Up and Releases New Single/Video!

Rage are back from the Corona crisis with a double bang: as had already been rumoured behind the scenes, guitarist Marcos Rodriguez has left the band. To replace him, vocalist/bassist Peavy Wagner has welcomed two new stringsmen to the Rage fold. New addition Stefan Weber (ex-Axxis) was introduced to the public at the METAL HAMMER online show in early May, now the band has presented its second new member, Jean Bormann (formerly Angelic, Rage & Ruins). Alongside Peavy, drummer Vassilios “Lucky” Maniatopoulos continues to be part of the group’s permanent line-up. Peavy“We’ve wanted for some time for Rage to be a quartet again, with two guitarists the way we operated back in the days of Black In Mind and End Of All Days. After Marcos had returned to Tenerife and consequently was no longer available, I used this opportunity to enlist two young guitarists.”

The full new Rage line-up can be seen and heard for the first time in the ‘The Price Of War 2.0’ video clip, a new edition of the song from Black In Mind, scheduled to be released today on all important online channels. Peavy“As you can tell from the clip, Stefan and Jean complement each other perfectly. They’re both young and bring a lot of fresh energy to the band. We consciously chose this number for the video because we also wanted to revitalise the sound of the Black In Mind era. The track was cut practically live for the clip, with only a few overdubs added. Rage will sound as heavy and punchy as we do on that song.”

The fact that Rage are already busy working on new material proves just how well the new line-up has gelled on a musical as well as a personal level. Says Peavy“As we’re not in a position to do any shows for obvious reasons at the moment, but the guys are bursting with energy, we’re using that momentum to work on new ideas that will probably be ready for release next year.”

The current album "Wings Of Rage" was released in January 2020 through Steamhammer/SPV as CD digipak, 2LP gatefold version, limited box set, shirt bundle (Steamhammer Shop) download and stream ( https://RageSPV.lnk.to/WingsOfRage ) and entered the album charts in Germany, Switzerland, Spain, France and the USA.
