Post-punk legends Pink Turns Blue presents 'Dancing With Ghosts', previewing 'Black Swan' album and European tour dates

European post-punk stalwarts Pink Turns Blue present their new single 'Dancing With Ghosts' and accompanying video, confronting the agonizing reality of toxic relationships, those soul-draining connections we often share with the people closest to us.  It's a raw exploration of the struggle to escape the "ghosts" of the past and the arduous, but ultimately liberating, journey toward self-preservation.

This is the third offering from their forthcoming album 'Black Swan', a term used for an unexpected event that, in retrospect, is rationalized as if one could have prepared for it. This record is set for release on limited edition vinyl, CD and digitally via Orden Records on February 28,

Earlier, the band shared 'Stay For The Night', a celebration of the postpunk - goth rock - darkwave community, and the lead track 'Black Swan (But I Know There Is More to Life)', the album's only ballad, which delves into profound questions about existence, life’s purpose and the beauty of the world.

Today made up of Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Paul Richter (drums) and Luca Sammuri (bass), Pink Turns Blue - named after a Hüsker Dü song - emerged in 1985 in the first generation of gothic rock. Their debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' advanced the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal post-punk album. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of a divided Cold War Germany and inspired by Joy Division, The Sound and The Chameleons, they have since released a dozen full-length LPs and have become known for their trademark blend of post-punk, alternative rock and new wave.

Mic Jogwer shares, "An exclamation to escape a complicated relationship, 'Dancing With Ghosts' is a song about our difficulty of breaking out of an unhealthy bond. Some last a lifetime – and are not good for us at all. They suck all our energy, never give, always take. And whatever we do, it's never right and never good enough. And since it's often our best friend, mother, or sister, it feels like we owe them something, but every time we try to do something good for them, we just feel miserable and used. There is no easy way out, because whatever we do, we lose. These spirits will haunt us forever unless we challenge them and eventually manage to leave them behind. We're Dancing With Ghosts."

After the widely acclaimed ‘Tainted’ album in 2021, the companion 'Tainted Tour 2022' EP and successful American and European tours with often-sold-out concerts, this new studio album will be followed by their 'Black Swan' tour, which sees them visit clubs through Germany in April.

Pink Turns Blue has achieved pretty much everything an indie band could wish for - Album of the Year (Byte FM), Best Album of 2021 (Post-Punk.com), singles reaching number 1 in the German Alternative Charts and Indie Disco Top 40, excellent reviews in worldwide music press, well attended and sold-out club concerts spanning from Los Angeles to Yerevan.

As of February 7, 'Dancing With Ghosts' is available everywhere, including Apple MusicSpotify, and Bandcamp. The full 'Black Swan' album will finally be released on limited-edition vinyl and CD editions, as well as digitally on all streaming platforms, on February 28. It can now be pre-ordered in physical formats, or digitally via Bandcamp.  Tickets for Pink Turns Blue's upcoming tour dates can be ordered at https://pinkturnsblue.com/ live-dates.

Pink Turns Blue presents new single 'Stay For The Night', a danceable ode to their community

Iconic post-punk band Pink Turns Blue present their new single 'Stay For The Night', a celebration of the post-punk / goth rock / darkwave community and the second single from their new 'Black Swan' album, to be released on limited edition vinyl, CD and digitally via Orden Records.

Today made up of Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Paul Richter (drums) and Luca Sammuri (bass), Pink Turns Blue - named after a Hüsker Dü song - emerged in 1985 in the first generation of gothic rock.

This new single follows the lead track 'Black Swan (But I Know There Is More to Life)', the album's only ballad, offering ample fruit for thought. Delving into profound questions about existence, it reflects on life’s purpose and the beauty of the world.

"'Stay for the Night' is meant for the dance floor. While we are an alternative rock band, founded in the post-punk era of the 80s, many of our fans wear black or dress as goths. And we often play in clubs that play darkwave music or goth rock at the after show party. The key message of the song is about unequal love, with one person wanting to leave the relationship or the group or going home instead of staying in the club with their (black-clad) friends and the other person asking to stay to sort things out, to give the relationship or the evening another chance," explains Mic Jogwer.

"This is also a love song to the post-punk / goth rock community for being with all these years. Very often, we stay for the after-show party and immerse ourselves in the very open-minded and diverse dancing crowd. This is home. After the show, we can just close our eyes and float with the music and our friends... All we need is love. All we need is friends. Thank you so much for being with us. See you on the dance floor."

After 2021's widely acclaimed ‘Tainted’ album, the companion 'Tainted Tour 2022' EPand successful American and European tours with often-sold-out concerts, the Berliners' new studio album will be followed by their 'Black Swan' tour, which sees them visit clubs through Germany in April.

This new collection is aptly named 'Black Swan', a term used for an unexpected event that, in retrospect, is rationalized as if one could have prepared for it.

Pink Turn Blue's debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' advanced the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal post-punk album. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of a divided Cold War Germany and inspired by Joy Division, The Sound and The Chameleons, they have since released a dozen full-length LPs and have become known for their trademark blend of post-punk, alternative rock and new wave.

As of January 10, 'Stay For The Night' is available everywhere, including Apple MusicSpotify, and Bandcamp. February 28 brings the release of the full 'Black Swan' album - digitally on all streaming platforms with limited-edition vinyl and CD editions now available for pre-order. Tickets for 2025 concerts can already be ordered at https://pinkturnsblue.com/ live-dates.

Post-punk / Darkwave pioneers PINK TURNS BLUE reveal profound single 'Black Swan (But I Know There Is More to Life)'

Iconic post-punk band Pink Turns Blue has announced that their new 'Black Swan' album will be released in February on limited edition vinyl, CD and digitally via Orden Records. Ahead of that, they present the single 'Black Swan (But I Know There Is More to Life)', the only ballad on the album. Setting the tone for this album, this song offers ample fruit for thought to round out the yea, delving into profound questions about existence, reflecting on life’s purpose and contemplating what makes for a meaningful life and the beauty of the world.

After 2021's widely acclaimed ‘Tainted’ album, the companion 'Tainted Tour 2022' EPand successful American and European tours with often-sold-out concerts, the Berliners' new studio album will be followed by their 'Black Swan' tour, which sees them tour throughout Germany in April.

This new collection is aptly named 'Black Swan', a term used for an unexpected event that, in retrospect, is rationalized as if one could have prepared for it.

Formed in 1985 in the first generation of gothic rock and named after a Hüsker Dü song, Pink Turn Blue's debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' advanced the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal post-punk album. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of a divided Cold War Germany and inspired by Joy Division, The Sound and The Chameleons, they have since released a dozen full-length LPs and have become known for their trademark blend of post-punk, alternative rock and new wave.

"This first single is about pondering your goals in life. In the end, you will review what you have done with the time you were given. If you think the purpose was to enjoy life – did you do that? If you think your purpose was to be good and make the real world a better place – did you really try? If you think life doesn’t make any sense at all – why did you act like you did?  Some encounters and events leave an impression, while others made you aware of the beauty and the wonders this world," says Mic Jogwer.

"Maybe the only thing that really makes you wonder whether there is something divine at all is LOVE. So, did you make efforts to find or give love to someone special, your partner, your parents, kids, or someone in need?  Is it good to be good? Is it important to search for something deeper? Or am I just hopeless? Am I trying too hard?"

As of December 6, 'Black Swan (But I Know There Is More to Life)' is available everywhere online, including Apple MusicSpotify, and Bandcamp. February 28 brings the release of their 'Black Swan' album - digitally on all streaming platforms with limited-edition vinyl and CD editions now available for pre-order. Tickets for 2025 concerts can already be ordered at https://pinkturnsblue.com/ live-dates.

Darkwave / Postpunk pioneers PINK TURNS BLUE kick off 'TAINTED 2022' tour, release new EP

"One of the most ethically driven and environmentally conscious post-punk artists of our time... powerful" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Consistent purveyors of quality guitar-laden post punk and dark-bent indie rock... one of the most honest and most direct enduring acts in post punk today" ~ Destroy // Exist

"The timeless message is driven home with a timeless sound composed with refined effect" ~ Post-Punk.com

"They have had high ranks in the charts and still have a place deep in the heart of many fans" ~ Reflections of Darkness

"When it comes to actual darkwave, Berlin’s Pink Turns Blue are rightly regarded as one of the founding acts... one of the finer exemplars of continental postpunk" ~ CVLT Nation

Trailblazing darkwave-postpunk pioneers Pink Turns Blue kick off their long-awaited TAINTED 2022 tour on September 2, bringing them to 23 cities across North America and select cities in the UK, Germany and Spain the same day that they release their special-edition 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP'.

Riding on the strength of their 'Tainted' album, released in late 2021 via Orden Records, and on the trail of their recently released single 'Not Gonna Take It', Pink Turns Blue brings this music to fans from one coast to another while also sharing four new songs that reflect their emotional state in today’s world.

Formed in 1985 in the first generation of gothic rock and named after a Hüsker Dü song, today Pink Turns Blue is a trio, made up of Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Paul Richter (drums) and Luca Sammuri (bass). Their debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' advanced the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal post-punk album. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of a divided Cold War Germany, they have since released a dozen full-length LPs.

Both the 'Tainted' LP and the new EP relate to a world in havoc and the seemingly powerlessness of today's youth to take over the world and change it for the better. But this album is also a call to never give up, to never lose faith or the understanding that making this world just a bit better every day is what makes our lives worth living.

With potent singles such as 'Not Even Trying', 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me', 'There Must Be So Much More' and 'So Why Not Save The World' address such themes as climate change, its effects, the reaction to it, the split within society, isolation, health risks and financial uncertainty.

“Since Pink Turns Blue presented the ‘Tainted’ album, things have changed for the worse, or have become more desperate and we have used this time to develop a few songs from the ‘Tainted’ sessions further - songs that didn’t make it onto the album since they were not ready yet, says In defiance of the global trend that the powerful use any excuse to enforce their agenda and defend their accumulation of benefices, more and more people see through it and stand up – for themselves and never give up to make this world just a little bit better," says Mic Jogwer.

"Since February 24 (actually my birthday), when Russia invaded Ukraine, things became even worse. Instead of slowly getting back to “normal” and trying to get our humanity’s shit together and to alleviate climate change and the consequential effects, now we have to cope with war and an energy, food and financial crisis (again) with the risk of losing the battle for equality, climate change, peace... you name it. So now the world is not only TAINTED but is in DISARRAY".

As of September 2, the 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP' can be found everywhere online. The 'Tainted' LP is also available via Apple Music and Spotify, with CD and limited-edition vinyl editions available via the band's website. Tickets for their live dates can be ordered at https://pinkturnsblue.com/live-dates.

Ahead of their long-awaited TAINTED 2022 tour, iconic darkwave-postpunk pioneers Pink Turns Blue present the single'Not Gonna Take It', the first taste of their 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP', which will be released on September 2 when the tour kicks off in Seattle.

Riding on the strength of their 'Tainted' album, released in late 2021 via Orden Records, Pink Turns Blue will bring this music closer to home to music lovers from one coast to another while also sharing four new songs reflecting their emotional state in today’s world.

Formed in 1985 in the first generation of gothic rock and named after a Hüsker Dü song, today Pink Turns Blue is made up of Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Paul Richter (drums) and Luca Sammuri (bass). Their debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' advanced the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal post-punk album. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of a divided Cold War Germany, they have since released a dozen full-length LPs.

"Not Gonna Take It' is a song about standing up for oneself and for a better world. Yes, the powerful, the bullies and the rich have many resources to get their way and claim that wrong is right. And yes, we all have our moments where we feel helpless and depressed because there doesn’t seem any way out of this cunning system of lies, propaganda, lobbying and influence. But every now and then, we just get fed up and decide we are not going to take it anymore. We find ways to break free, organize and fight for the things that are worth fighting for. Right now, it seems very difficult, at times impossible, naïve and all too idealistic. But if we give up fighting, we give up living. It is an uphill battle, but our defiance and our courage keep us going,” says Mic Jogwer.

“Since Pink Turns Blue presented the ‘Tainted’ album, things have changed for the worse, or have become more desperate and we have used this time to develop a few songs from the ‘Tainted’ sessions further - songs that didn’t make it onto the album since they were not ready yet, says In defiance of the global trend that the powerful use any excuse to enforce their agenda and defend their accumulation of benefices, more and more people see through it and stand up – for themselves and never give up to make this world just a little bit better.”

Riding on the strength of their latest 'Tainted' album, released in late 2021 via Orden Records, iconic post-punk outfit and darkwave pioneers Pink Turns Blue will embark on their TAINTED 2022 tour, which kicks off on September 2 in Seattle. To mark this occasion, the band will also release the 'Tainted Tour 2022' EP with four songs reflecting their emotional state in today’s world.

The songs on the 'Tainted' LP relate to this world in its current disarray and the seemingly powerlessness of today's youth to take over the world and change it for the better. But this album is also a call to never give up, to never lose faith or the understanding that making this world just a bit better every day is what makes our lives worth living.

"Since Covid, playing live has been either impossible or very difficult. Until lately, German musicians were not allowed to travel to the USA and Canada at all and many shows were either postponed indefinitely or cancelled due to legal or travel restrictions or bankruptcy for promoters. Other shows, including festivals, happened under very limited or difficult circumstances. Often, people bought tickets but didn’t dare show up because they feared for their health," explains frontman Mic Jogwer.

With all these themes addressed on the 'Tainted' album still very actual, the TAINTED 2022 tour will bring this music closer to home to music lovers from one coast to another.

The 'Tainted' LP is out now across digital platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify, as well as on CD and limited-edition vinyl, available via the band's website. On September 2, the 'Tainted Tour 2022' EP will be released for the launch of the TAINTED 2022 tour. Tickets can be pre-ordered at https://pinkturnsblue.com/live-dates.

Iconic post-punk / darkwave outfit Pink Turns Blue has released their new 'Tainted' album via Orden Records, the result of time well spent during a lockdown year - writing, recording, mixing and mastering the new album in their Berlin recording studio. They also present their new video for 'Not Even Trying', a lament for a wasting planet.

On ‘Tainted’, the band added an electronic element to their classical vocals, guitar, bass and drums. The album title itself relates to the state of our world: climate change, its effects, the reaction to it, the split within society, isolation, health risks and financial uncertainty.

“When I travel the world, I encounter two types of people. Many are sad and void of hope that mankind is able to change. Others just don’t care or are sarcastic about just everything. I guess this makes me angry. I see all those toddlers with their lives before them, playing and laughing and inheriting a world in disarray just because of the greediness and irresponsibility of their parents. A call to try so much harder! Instead of using excuses for missing or inadequate action, mankind really has to get its shit together – now," says Mic Jogwer.

"Obviously, young people seem to realize the cost of our shortcomings much better: all the carelessness about using resources, polluting the environment, the threatening effects of global warming, a poisoned environment and extinct species. They are at the beginning of their lives and the world is in crisis already. But most of us are using excuses or alibi “actions” to cover up our indifference or complacency. We pursue our own advantage at the expense of others even if the calculation does not add up in the end: if we don’t incorporate sustainability in our actions all will lose.”

Earlier this year, the band released the singles 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me''There Must Be So Much More' and 'So Why Not Save The World'

Earlier this year, the band released the singles 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me''There Must Be So Much More' and 'So Why Not Save The World'

Today Pink Turns Blue is a trio consisting of Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Reubi Walter (bass, keyboards) and Paul Richter (drums). In the first generation of gothic rock, Pink Turns Blue formed in 1985, originally as a duo consisting of Jogwer and Thomas Elbern, plus a drum machine. Naming themselves after a Hüsker Dü song, their sound was initially inspired by The Chameleons, Clan of Xymox, and The Cure.

Their debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' brought dark undertones into their new wave sound, essentially advancing the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal album in the post-punk genre. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of a divided Cold War Germany, the band went on to release 11 full-length LPs, the latest being 'The AERDT – Untold Stories' in 2016.

On October 1, the 'Tainted' LP will be released digitally across digital platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. Black vinyl, strictly limited to 500 copies and with an 8-page booklet, will be released on October 29. CDs, which come with a 16-page booklet, are available now - both these and vinyl can be ordered exclusively via the band's website.

PINK TURNS BLUE reveals video for 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me'

Iconic post-punk band Pink Turns Blue has unveiled the video for 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me', a beautiful film to their new single. Portraying figures who are utterly alone, introspective, and seeking an elusive connection, this video echoes themes of isolation felt during the process or working through grief over the loss of a loved-one.

This past week, the band announced that their new album 'Tainted' will be released in autumn on limited edition vinyl, CD and digitally via Orden Records.
They also recently shared two enticing singles - 'There Must Be So Much More' and 'So Why Not Save The World'.

Pink Turns Blue is Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Reubi Walter (bass, keyboards) and Paul Richter (drums). Inspired by Joy Division, The Sound and The Chameleons, Pink Turns Blue plays alternative rock heavily influenced by 80s post-punk and new wave.

This album is the result of time well spent this past lockdown year writing, recording, mixing and mastering the new album in their Berlin recording studio. On ‘Tainted’, the band added an electronic element to their classical vocals, guitar, bass and drums. The album title itself relates to the state of our world: climate change, its effects, the reaction to it, the split within society, isolation, health risks and financial uncertainty.

"How to overcome the grief / pain of lost love, torn between hate, very bad feelings and, at the same time, not being able to let go at all. As there is no understanding why you fall in love with someone in the first place, there is also no reason / understanding why love does end or your love of life starts to feel attracted to someone else. It all dissolves into nothingness," says Mic Jogwer.

"Some melodies and moods just call for certain sad themes and touch old wounds that never seem to heal. Normally love stories don’t seem to have a connection to me and my life. But then, when I find a sad melody with some sad chords it all gets stirred up and comes to life. Maybe love really never ends."

Among the first generation of gothic rock in Germany, Pink Turns Blue formed in 1985, originally as a duo consisting of Mic Jogwer and Thomas Elbern, plus a drum machine. Naming themselves after a Hüsker Dü song, their sound was initially inspired by The Chameleons, Clan of Xymox, and The Cure.

Their debut album 'Two Worlds Kiss' brought dark undertones into their new wave sound, essentially advancing the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal album in the post-punk genre. Amidst fear and uncertainty in a divided Germany during the Cold War era, the band longed for a more romantic element. They went on to release eleven full-length LPs, the latest one being 'The AERDT – Untold Stories' in 2016 via Orden Records.

'You Still Mean Too Much To Me' is out now everywhere, including Apple Music and Spotify. The 'Tainted' LP will be released on September 24. It will be available digitally and in two physical formats - a CD with a 16-page booklet and on black vinyl, strictly limted to 500 copies, with an 8-page booklet. Both can be pre-ordered exclusively via the band's website.
