Nearly 40 years into its career, the band turns its gaze toward the unavoidable truth of mortality. Liturgy of Death explores the philosophy of mortality with stark, uncompromising clarity. The album presents death not as an ending, but as a universal law that touches all life and exposes the fragility of human existence. This impermanence becomes a call to live with full intensity, for every gain and loss ultimately falls back into the same silence. Echoing ancient philosophies, the album portrays life as a transitional state and death as a gateway to a higher form of being, while the solemn, dark beauty of death permeates the entire work.

"Despair" captures this vision in its most visceral form. The track unravels the collapse of being through ritualistic chants, Latin invocations, and blistering blast beats that echo like the pulse of annihilation. Attila’s vocals summon an ancient, fatal truth: the fading of light, the inevitability of death, and the recognition of human fragility. "Despair" stands as the album’s stark revelation — the moment where death is not feared but understood.

Secrets Share New Single "Despair"

SECRETS have unleashed their first new music since 2022 with the new single "Despair." Listen Below. 

It's all about the electronic flourishes, gnarly riffery, and screams that sound as thought they crawled headlong from the bowels of hell. The track will kick your ass from start to finish.

Not only does the new single mark a new era of aggression for the band but is also a rebirth of sorts, as guitarist/clean vocalist Richard Rogers has stepped away from the band and has given his blessing for the band to carry on with a new lineup. Long-running members, vocalist Wade Walters and guitarist Connor Branigan, are now joined by guitarist/clean vocalist David Baqi in this rebirth of these California metalcore stalwarts. 

"Despair" was produced by Taylor Larson (Asking Alexandria, Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Within Temptatio.), who will also oversee the band's upcoming full-length album. Set to be recorded this summer, the new album promises to be the band's most pulverizing yet. You read it here first.

SECRETS are currently touring with Colorblind, Glasslands, and Unwell. Once the tour wraps, the band will then spend June aneJuly supporting Eyes Set To Kill. Expect a wealth more touring from the band as they unveil more new music in the coming months. 

Since their formation over a decade ago, California-based metalcore band SECRETS have been a giant within and beyond their genre. Relentless drive and progressive creativity have solidified the band's place in their scene's development and impact on the masses.
 
After being signed to Velocity Records in 2011, SECRETS released their debut full-length album, The Ascent, in January 2012. The record debuted at #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and became the first release from the first incarnation of Velocity Records to appear on the Billboard Top 200, debuting at #185.
 
 Worldwide touring and lineup changes helped refine the band and their music, leading to their second album, Fragile Figures, in 2013. The album was a success, selling over 10,000 copies in the first month and charting at #59 on the Billboard 200 charts. SECRETS released their third studio album, Everything That Got Us Here, in January 2015, seeing the album hit #11 on the Hard Rock Albums charts and #20 on the Independent Albums charts.

Following yet another success with their fourth album, the self-titled Secrets in 2018, the band continued to create, perform, and push the boundaries of their music and the genre. 2022 saw the release of their fifth album, The Collapse via their new partnership with their initial label, Velocity Records, who at the time had recently relaunched.
