CARSEX Release 'Landmine' Video From "Human Interest" EP

Long Beach, CA Punk/Metal band CARSEX have released their ferocious new EP “Human Interest”, which is a deep dive into timely themes about the current state of our chaotic world.  They channel their anger and angst into 7 pummeling tracks.  The EP was produced by Steve Evetts (Sepultura, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Butcher Babies) at Maple Studios in Santa Ana, CA, and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New Windsor, NY.

The EP’s focus track “Landmine” is a heavy, chugging anthem that’s forges ahead like a sonic M1 Abrams Tank.  CARSEX singer Nigel Burk says “Landmine’ is a follow-up to our song “Your Lesson”, which delved into succumbing to various forms of temptation and how we’re taught to fear divine retribution if we fall prey to these desires.  “Landmine” takes it a step further - it’s akin to a bad acid trip where everything is distorted…    You come to the realization that there is no absolution and you’re going to burn anyway.  It’s like walking through a field of landmines – you’re going to blow up, no matter what you do”.

Director Chris Michael explains the “Landmine” video concept: “I teamed up with my buddies in CARSEX to bring their video “Landmine” to life. This track’s a banger, and I was honored to storyboard and shoot it. The concept dives into the effects of an acid trip: The cool blue colors for the initial calm, then harsh reds and awkward angles take over as the hallucinations hit. We swapped the mic for a grenade to push the hallucinatory theme further.”  He continues: “We were under red and blue lighting for hours so long we actually thought we were tripping…. Some of the guys swore the colors were shifting and moving.  Everything about the shoot stayed true to the theme: chaos, distortion, and the constant threat of land mines.”

CARSEX has previously released 2 songs from the EP - “Crooked Canvas” and “Sitting Ducks”, with both tracks gaining support on Heavy Music playlists including Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora and Audiomack. The band’s other releases include 2019’s CarSex and 2020’s 2020 EP, which featured the singles “Your Generation” and “Lovesick”. The band is scheduling shows in support the EP release and will be doing an extended tour in the fall.

CARSEX Share New Track "Sitting Ducks"

Punk band CARSEX have released their ferocious new track “Sitting Ducks”.  It’s the follow-up to the Long Beach, CA based band’s successful single & video “Crooked Canvas”.  Both were produced by Steve Evetts (Sepultura, Alesana, Poison the Well, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Butcher Babies).  The track is a deep dive into current human-interest stories, and the shape of the human condition in 2024.

“Sitting Ducks” is a frenetic, all-out barrage of sound with distorted guitars & a menacing rhythm line that explodes into a supersonic metal/punk mashup. It’s a mix of Henry Rollins/Black Flag, with a bit of Danzig mixed in for good measure.  It’s an unrelenting anthem of angst.

CARSEX Singer Nigel Burk says “Sitting Ducks’ is a kind of “they live” type song. It covers the helplessness and monotony of a modern world and the meaninglessness that follows what’s viewed “important” by society at large, and the misalignment of priorities in today’s chaotic times”.

About CARSEX:

CARSEX amped-up sound is what the name implies: Sleazy, primitive, uncomfortable - and just as good as your friends told you it’d be.

Forged by the survivors of Long Beach music scene bands Damned Age, Black Velvet Brigade, and Red River Massacre, the five music veterans in CARSEX have slugged it out in the clubs of Orange County, California for more than 10 years.  While performing shows in these various groups on the circuit they became friends over time.  As the bands they were in either dissolved or changed direction – they decided to form under a new banner with shared musical tastes & goals, and CARSEX formed in 2018. Their sound is a mix of Circle Jerks/Black Flag/The Germs, with Danzig, Fu Manchu & a bit Queens of the Stone Age blended into a potent combination. They play hard and loud with no hint of an apology.

The band has previously released 2 EPs: 2019’s CarSex and 2020’s 2020 EP, which featured the singles “Your Generation” and “Lovesick”.   A new EP is being finalized and will be released in the 1st quarter of 2025.

CARSEX is very much a live band, and is playing shows in support the new music.  They’ve opened for Stillwell (Fieldy from Korn’s Band), The Obsessed, Mondo Generator, Suicide Silence, Unsane, Dead Poet’s Society, Narcoleptic Youth, and O’Zorn!, among others.

CARSEX Share New Track/Video "Crooked Canvas"

Long Beach, CA underground Rock band CARSEX has a supercharged sound that is what the name implies: Sleazy, primitive, uncomfortable & just as good as your friends told you it’d be.

They are releasing their new single & video “Crooked Canvas”, which was produced by Steve Evetts (Sepultura, Alesana, Poison the Well, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Butcher Babies).  The track is a diatribe about their intense disdain for blind consumerism and uninformed fealty to political parties.  It starts out with a spoken word warning that is underlined by a fierce guitar riff that builds alongside a staccato drum beat and then explodes into a supersonic blast that never lets up.

CARSEX Singer Nigel Burk says “Crooked Canvas’ is about the metaphorical wool being pulled over people’s eyes and the blind, general consumption of what’s being put forth.  Whether it’s politics, religion, what shoes to buy, which pill will make your dick bigger. It’s about consumerism at its finest and my distaste for it”.

Bassist Jeremy Schott adds “The music video was shot by our pals Brad Walther and Jason Lazo at Big Walrus Productions in Long Beach. We worked with them on our last video for “Your Generation”. We shot the video on a church set, keeping with the theme of the song being about the public being told how to think and what to consume – and blindly doing so. Steven Burhoe of Plague Productions edited the video.“
