AENIMUS - RELEASE TRACK VIDEO FOR 'PHOENIX RISE';

Bay Area natives AENIMUS have released trailblazing progressive death metal since 2011. Today, the band offer fans a farewell in the form of a track video for the single'Phoenix Rise'.

Seth Stone comments, "To my fans, friends and family… With over a decade of moments shared together and infinite memories that will live with me forever, I have made the difficult decision to put Aenimus on an indefinite hiatus. Thank you all, for the support and love over the years, in making many of my dreams come true.

"Thank you to all the amazing musicians who performed and wrote these magical songs with me. Never, did I fathom I would perform and write music alongside some of the best and most humble musicians that I now consider family. I could not have accomplished any of this without a single one of you.

"Thank you to Nuclear Blast Records, Continental Touring, and everyone else within the music industry who guided Aenimus and gave us opportunities of a lifetime.

"With that, I give you all one last song, 'Phoenix Rise' a farewell to celebrate the time we spent together and a song to inspire hope to whoever needs it.

"Thank you, Brian Gosling(guitars/production), Cody Pulliam(drums), and John Flynn(bass) for sharing your amazing talents and writing 'Phoenix Rise' with me.“

Broadcast: Dark Space -II (Teaser)

> Amidst the echoes, a haunting scream reverberates through the vast expanse.
> Picked up by the keen sonar of an orbiting satellite.
> Triumvirate reach out to the inhabitants of Earth.
     > Wroth
     > Yhs
     > Zharaal

That's right, earthlings: Darkspace are gearing up for their long-awaited return. It's been almost a decade since their last transmission. But next year, they'll emerge from the void with Dark Space -II.

This new recording loosely deviates from the course set by Darkspace on their previous four albums. New member Yhs leads Wroth and Zharaal to experiment with different sonic textures. But while the mysterious trio still venture into uncharted aural territories, Dark Space -II never leaves their familiar realm of psychedelic, atmospheric, spatial black metal.

Dark Space -II comes out February 16, 2024. But you can hear a snippet of the supermassive black hole that is "Dark -2.-2" today over on our YouTube channel.

Fractal electronic samples slice through layers of extraterrestrial drones, manifesting an immersive experience that defies the boundaries of the conventional black metal genre. Vocal transmissions, like whispers from the outer reaches, seamlessly intertwine in the chilling mix, adding a haunting dimension to this celestial configuration.

DARKSPACE beckons you. Come explore the vast unknown.

Season of Mist reissued all of Darkspace's catalogue on CD and vinyl this year. Listen from Dark Space -I to Dark Space III I and hear how their hypnotic and otherworldly sound has influenced the modern black metal of today.

THIRDFACE SHARE WILD NEW SINGLE "BUCK" AHEAD OF DEBUT ALBUM RELEASE

DO IT WITH A SMILE OUT MARCH 5TH
VIA EXPLODING IN SOUND RECORDS

PREORDER: Do It With A Smile

"Kinetic and punishing one moment, noisy and multi-jointed the next, the record is a masterpiece for those who feel out of touch with the cultural tropes of metal and hardcore, here for the bristle as well as the bruise." - The Pit

"Formidable, confrontational, and wildly adventurous" - No Echo

“Thirdface aren’t fucking around.” - Stereogum

"Thirdface deliver a crushing brand of hardcore." - Consequence of Sound

“gloomy post-hardcore, whiplash-inducting punk, metallic riffage, and more.” - BrooklynVegan

“A searing and innovative take on hardcore” - Treblezine

“Hardcore of the cathartic, nasty kind” - VISIONS

Nashville hardcore group Thirdface shared their new single “Buck” just ahead of the release of their debut full-length via a premiere with The Hard Noise. The album Do It With A Smile, out March 5th via Exploding In Sound Records, is a caustic and innovative approach to hardcore from the quartet made up of members from Yautja, Sallow, Donors, and the DIY collective Drkmttr. Clocking in at just 36 seconds, the explosive track is a burst of maniacal energy but the band remains tightly in the pocket on one of the most ferocious tracks on the record. Do It With A Smile is out this Friday and pre-orders for the album are available here.

Nashville, as a music scene, breeds variance. It’s about as unpredictable as Tennessee weather, where shockwaves of different genres create ripple effects larger than a mixed bill. Coming together from different projects and spaces within the DIY community, Thirdface — vocalist Kathryn Edwards, bassist Maddy Madeira, guitarist David Reichley, and drummer Shibby Poole — blends together the resilient work ethic of their surroundings and the guiding principles which allow them to flourish past a night of local sets. Thirdface applies this knowledge through the furrowed brows of hardcore, references to horror films and Black westerns, and an unrelenting approach that saves no breath. And on their debut full-length (and first outing for Exploding in Sound Records), they Do It With a Smile.

While the band’s demo was written entirely by Reichley and recorded by Poole, Do It With a Smile is Thirdface’s first collaborative effort. Poole recorded it in the attic of a standalone garage where the majority of the band lived at a critical point of transition. That said, their record carries with it what was forced into harsh relief that year: frustration at the cyclical torture of wage slavery, ever-present and ever-thin allyship and feminism, and a low hum of negative thoughts, hopelessness, and the struggle to survive in an unforgiving world. Edwards turns those dark moments into relentless examples of catharsis, whether by using Buffy the Vampire Slayer as a stand-in (“Chosen”) or directly addressing evils in a community, like clout-gobbling men (“Local”) or exceptionalizing allies that speak over who they claim to support (“Ally”).

Thirdface’s brand of Southeast hardcore is informed by the storm clouds that circle over the working class and Black people in the South. Do It With a Smile seeks retribution for all of these crimes: sometimes in the world of Clive Barker, oftentimes in the communities that will receive it. It’s a wild and tumultuous journey. But tonight, Thirdface rides.
