Weathers Drop New Single "Antidote" And Official Music Video via Big Machine Rock

Alt-rock powerhouse Weathers have released their latest banger "Antidote" and the official video. Prior to today, the band dropped "Happy Pills (Higher Dose)", breathing new life into the fan-favorite track "Happy Pills" (via Big Machine Rock). Speaking about the inspiration behind their release, the band shared:

“‘Antidote’ reflects personal experiences with having too much fun to the point of going off the rails. And then finding yourself unable to help yourself, therefore needing someone to help pick you back up even though you’ve hurt them during your downward spiral. We realized early on that the demo of this song captured a sense of vulnerability that couldn’t be recreated leading to most of the song being the original cuts including the vocals.”

Fans will have their chance to see the quartet tear up the stage across the US alongside alt-pop duo VOILÀ and Ella Red, on the theatrically immersive 'Moonbloom' tour, featuring aerial acts, sword swallowers, magicians, and jugglers. The tour kicks off on Tuesday, October 27 in Los Angeles, California at The Fonda, with No Love For The Middle Child joining the lineup for that evening only (ticket info here). ABOUT WEATHERS

Southern California-based alternative rock band Weathers — lead singer/frontman Cameron Boyer, guitarist Cameron Olsen and bassist Brennen Bates — have been consistently creating finely crafted introspective pop songs heavily inspired by the counter-culture of the 80s and 90s since forming in 2015. The band makes music that speaks to those among us who tend to forget that, regardless of outward appearances, everyone is struggling with something and that no one is alone. Weathers’ story is a tale of growing up, of coming into one’s own, and includes themes of depression or anxiety and the often difficult maintenance of mental health.

They first grabbed listeners' attention with 2016's "Happy Pills," which peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart. Initially, vocalist Boyer and guitarist Olsen met in 2012 while attending a battle of the bands in the Los Angeles suburb of Manhattan Beach. By 2015, they had formed Weathers, recruiting bassist Bates. Signing with RCA Records, they released their debut single, "I Don't Wanna Know," a swaggeringly moody song that drew comparisons to Walk the Moon and The Neighbourhood. Fans followed, and in March 2016 they landed a slot at SXSW. Their follow-up single, "Happy Pills," garnered the band even more attention, becoming the most added track to rock radio in July 2016. In 2018, they issued the Kids in the Night EP, featuring the single "1983."

It's an atmospheric, melancholic track that captures the calm and the ensuing emotional storm both musically and visually in the accompanying music video (by Peter Leukhardt): A temporary inner emptiness that leads to the hope of escaping this familiar cycle sooner or later. With their unmistakable blend of melancholy depth and rousing sound, the band delivers another impressive foretaste of their upcoming album HEADWAY, which will be released on January 24.

"It would be too nice if there was simply an antidote for low moods. I think we've all wished for that at some point," comments guitarist and songwriter Matti. 

"Antidote" was created in collaboration with the producer team Julian Breucker and Christoph Wieczorek.

Swedish electropop-metal quartet Solence has released a lyric video for their latest release, "Antidote". Speaking to the theme of seeking meaningful connection, the track is taken from their forthcoming new album '_hope is a cult_' out Friday, February 17 via Hopeless Records. Speaking on today's release, the band shares:

"'Antidote' is a song about wanting to feel more alive. We interact with more people on a daily basis than ever before, yet we’re still unable to create real connections and end up feeling alone. The perspective of "Antidote" is that we desperately seek a cure, or something, to make us feel better. The song starts slow and mysterious then breaks out into a big sing-along chorus. After intensely touring all over Europe to promote ‘Radiation’, the band received great reward by being one of the four recipients of the 2019 grants for contemporary music awarded by the City of Geneva. This support has allowed Impure Wilhelmina to approach their new album with confidence and the will to develop their sound and get out of their comfort zone. The band put a lot of efforts in the elaboration and production of its new songs, notably by calling on Yvan Bing, producer and sound engineer, to accompany the four musicians throughout the creation process of the album. This successful collaboration began in the summer of 2019 and continued for over a year, giving rise to IMPURE WILHELMINA's seventh album, ‘Antidote’.

In the context of the pandemic that marked part of the recording of ‘Antidote’ and its long completion, this title also resonates in a very particular way. Welcome to this journey into uncharted musical lands.

Skilfully navigating between melodies and dissonances, always at the service of raw emotion, this sixth album was unanimously acclaimed by the press and the public, opening the doors to wider recognition.

After intensely touring all over Europe to promote ‘Radiation’, the band received great reward by being one of the four recipients of the 2019 grants for contemporary music awarded by the City of Geneva. This support has allowed Impure Wilhelmina to approach their new album with confidence and the will to develop their sound and get out of their comfort zone. The band put a lot of efforts in the elaboration and production of its new songs, notably by calling on Yvan Bing, producer and sound engineer, to accompany the four musicians throughout the creation process of the album. This successful collaboration began in the summer of 2019 and continued for over a year, giving rise to IMPURE WILHELMINA's seventh album, ‘Antidote’.

In the context of the pandemic that marked part of the recording of ‘Antidote’ and its long completion, this title also resonates in a very particular way. Welcome to this journey into uncharted musical lands.
