Richmond, Virginia, rising alt-rock artist Wes Parker has announced his eagerly anticipated debut solo album, 'Super Rare', out Friday, June 5 via Big Machine Rock. 'Super Rare' is Parker's latest body of work since 2025's fan favorites 'fantom' and 'Splinter' EPs. In celebration of the news, Parker has dropped his latest single "Little Birdie" from the forthcoming full-length along with the official music video. Speaking about 'Super Rare', Parker shared:
“‘Super Rare’ feels like the closest I’ve gotten to putting my full personality on record. It reminds me of the notebooks I had growing up that were full of sketches, poems, doodles of my observations of people in the suburban America I grew up in. People describe it sounding like 90s alternative rock, bands like Radiohead, Muse and some modern day sounds, like MJ Linderman, The Shins, Mac DeMarco. It’s a melancholic record, but I wanted to let some of my comedy background into the world of the album through interludes from a fictional radio host named DJ Charlie-Horse.”
When asked about "Little Birdie", he commented:
“I think of “Little Birdie” as a pretty simple four-chord psych-rock/surf-rock tune sonically. It’s about watching something in your life crumble away and feeling both mournful yet liberated. I always loved songs with choruses that just had one or two notes. It kind of whips me into a frenzy. So I thought I’d try that on a song of my own. Something about the chorus kind of reminds me of Blink-182.”

Today, Brighton-based and Aberdeen-originating alt-rockers THE XCERTS are excited to announce their much-anticipated new album, ‘i think i want to go home now,’ out on July 10th via FLG.
In addition, the band also shares the album's latest single and arguably their heaviest release to date, the fuzzed-out, fast-paced "pretty ugly." Written during a period of intense personal strain, the track channels a sense of anger and frustration, with vocalist Murray Macleodconfronting both internal struggles and external pressures, lashing out at criticism while processing deeply personal experiences.
Speaking on the single, Macleod shares:
"A nod to 'Scatterbrain' but also heavily inspired by UK post hardcore bands like Kids Near Water and Tribute to Nothing whilst pushing the sound forward. Lyrically, it's comically brutal. The vocals are borderline incoherent but that was intentional. Another emotion I haven't put in a song for a very long time is anger and at the time I found myself feeling very angry at the world. So this song takes a swipe at people who were criticizing the band during a period when my family was going through a lot"
He continues, "The second verse is about my father and what he was going through after his cancer diagnosis. I reference the machinery that cut out my dad's tumour, the Da Vinci XI, and also Van Gogh. 'Maybe I'll splatter my brains against the wall, then you can all dissect the art, I'll do one better than Van Gogh and cut em both off."
Macleod concludes, "The song is heavy in sound and heavy with emotion, so it was important to say something a bit left field because that’s what happens when you’re having an internal meltdown."

An undoubted career highlight long-player, the remarkably consistent and immediate songs on‘i think i want to go home now’ are sonic manifestations of the mutual support and friendship that carried the band through a particularly turbulent period, including Smith’s mother passing away and Macleod’s dad facing a cancer scare.
The new album also sees the band reconnecting with the raw urgency that defined early releases ‘In The Cold Wind We Smile,’ ‘Scatterbrain’ and ‘There Is Only You.’ Intriguingly, there are a number of stark similarities to that very first record. Smith had lost his father before they made that one, and Macleod had gone through a devastating break-up. To say that history has repeated itself would undermine the emotional gravitas of these latest life experiences, but the band found it hard not to draw comparisons between then and now.
Alongside the album announcement, the band also share news that they will perform a full run-through of ‘i think i want to go home now’ at their 2000 Trees Festival set, a festival and community they have returned to numerous times over the past 20 years and which has become something of a spiritual home for the band. In addition, they will appear at Arbroath Festival and embark on a run of dates with old friends Twin Atlantic in June. A full list of live dates can be found below.
“It was really time for us to band together and celebrate our friendship,” says Macleod, speaking further on the album. “We're so proud that we're still doing this, because we started the band 23 years ago. It’s astonishing really. This really is the purest XCERTS record there's been since the first one. We dug really deep to discover what the defining sound of our band is and bled it all out”.

Writing the lyrics felt like diving into the subconscious, bringing these emotions to the surface. It was wonderful to explore the creative process of arranging the backing vocals. I especially love how AMBERIAN DAWN's music makes strong use of backing vocals, helping to create a fuller, richer sound around the lead vocals. TodoMal came to life in 2020, conceived by Anglo-Spanish musician and composer Christopher B. Wildman and musician, composer and producer Javier Fernández Milla: two veteran multi-instrumentalists of the Spanish underground scene whose careers span a wide range of projects and styles. A product of pure serendipity, TodoMal represents a deeply personal fusion of the solemnity of traditional doom metal and the expansiveness of space rock, interwoven with nuances of ecclesiastical music, classic hard rock and cinematic soundscapes.
Their debut album, Ultracrepidarian (2021), evokes the placid yet desolate moorlands of their base in northern Alcarria and the region of Matarraña (Teruel), two emblematic landscapes of Spain's so-called "emptied lands." With A Greater Good(2023), the duo crafted a collection of what they describe as "dark songs," evolving into a complex, dense and unclassifiable album that appeared on several year-end lists and sold through its initial pressing. "Lyrically, 'Violent Silence' came into being as an apology to my wife," MORTIIS admits ruefully. "I had done something stupid again, and she was really upset. I was trying to apologise in a text message – a really long one. The lyrics for 'Violent Silence' took a lot of inspiration from those words and that moment. As time goes by and having lived with this song for quite a while now, it gets harder for me to listen to those words. The gut-wrenching sensation of guilt never goes away fully. Musically, it was a very inspiring song to work on – especially with all those crazy fuzz and echo guitars that built up this song towards the end."

Joy Thieves Productions crafts their surprisingly cohesive signature sound from the contributions of its ever-growing 80+ roster of members, drawn from a diverse range of genres, including industrial, rock, punk, darkwave, hip hop and experimental music, they produce a sound that The Joy Thieves describe as being created by “all of us. Many of the songs on the new album began with producer-drummer Dan Milligan re-recording iconic hip hop breakbeats with modern drum sounds. ‘The Wrong End of Your Rifle’ began exactly that way -- with a modern re-imagining of the one of the most famous breakbeats of all time (‘Ashley’s Roachclip’ by The Soul Searchers). This formed the basis upon which the entire track was built.
“At the very beginning of the creation process for Apocalypse Pending, the goal was to blend the existing Joy Thieves’ sound with elements of the golden age of hip hop, and I think ‘The Wrong End of Your Rifle’ does that as well as any song on the album,” says Dan Milligan.
For a band with members spread all over the world, The Joy Thieves' music feels like it could have only been made in Chicago. Anchored by their love of industrial rock, their music immediately outgrows the restrictions of the genre by stretching into the new realms, creating a sound that both honors the past while pushing its evolution into the future.

‘This Is Where The Show Begins,’ DAN’s debut album, is full of joy and confidence. There is swagger alongside sensitivity, a widening musical horizon that feels both fresh and bold. At the center of it all is that voice, as powerful as it is vulnerable, as emotive as it is commanding.
The lead single, “Saviour,” is a perfect opener. It bursts to life with attention-grabbing hard-rock stabs and pile-driving riffs, its verses simmering with quiet drama before exploding into a chorus that promises we are in for one hell of a ride. Southpaw FLHC, who bridge the gap between the old and new generations of hardcore with elements of punk, metal and hip hop, crashed the scene with their self-titled EP, released in 2020. They haven’t taken a breath since, releasing seven singles with accompanying music videos. Clearly, their DIY ethic is strong, as the band also hit the road — and hard. They've shared stages with and toured alongside With Blood Comes Cleansing, Tracheotomy, Bodysnatcher, Surfaced, and Hoods, inciting furious moshpits in every city they played. In 2025, they embarked on a headline run with Cutthroats, Kind Eyes, Unvow, and Resistor. Their hometown roots run deep as marrow, as evidenced by the fact that they headline and packed the first-ever show at a brand new venue called HARDLOVE in Jacksonville. "If you stand alone with a brick in your hand against an oncoming wave of tanks with no hope of success, you still throw the brick," vocalist Syd Jagger says. "If there is an overreaching theme to 'AINYG? It would be hope in the face of adversity. This song was the last one written for the album, a late night jam sent to me by the band. 10 minutes later, I had the melody and chorus, sometimes they write themselves. I wasn't trying to but you can hear me starting to blow out the vocal microphone during the 'I won't let go' part. All of the vocals for this album were done in one day so I waited til the end of the session to record this one because I knew I wanted a raspier spent sound."
Am I Not Your Girl? is the latest from a band that's excelled at weaving past and present to deliver rock music that hits a sweet spot of post-hardcore grit and genuine songcraft. Am I Not Your Girl? is an exercise in simplicity born from years of consistency, prioritizing true-blue songwriting that draws on a lifetime of influences, from Revolution Summer sincerity to the conciseness modeled by The Replacements: Big choruses, big moments, big emotions.
Despite its members having played in a murderer's row of beloved, important bands in the worlds of post-hardcore and emo (Garrison, Saves the Day, The Bomb, and more), the four-piece have locked in on what the band really is across two previous records, College Rock and Clove Cigarettes and Strange Desires. Her Head's on Fire isn't trying to coast off those acts but rather push their work forward.
Mixed by Jack Shirley (Deafheaven, Joyce Manor), the album excels at making the listener feel like they're in the room with the band as it happens, with production focused on capturing the music live rather than creating anything artificial.
Nowhere is the band's philosophy better illustrated than in Am I Not Your Girl?'s cover art. Painted by Joy Johnson and inspired by the photography of Nan Goldin, it's a collage of illusory moments all occurring within the same space, one emotion bleeding into the next. In the same way that different feelings melt into one another, the record's emotive highs do the same, each beat of exuberance, pain, and sadness flowing into the one that follows. "Maybe this record's on in the background while people have a beautiful conversation, fall in love, or navigate a brutal moment," Jagger says. "I am honored to be any part of that soundtrack."
At the core of the band's mission is community: Playing shows and inviting the world in. Having shared stages with the likes of Quicksand, Hey Mercedes, and The Suicide Machines, there's a sense of connection that threads through both the music itself and their consistent activity as a touring act. "This thing attracted us because we were outliers, and we needed to feel less alone in the world," Jagger says. "We can't let the ugly trappings of the world creep in and take a hold of this thing. This community, this love is what it is all about."

"'wither without' is about watching someone you love slowly decay before your eyes, and the continuous fight that it takes to stay by their side when everything in you wants to look away," the band explains. "It's about carrying on their memory when they've lost their own."

"There's a two-part meaning to you'll forget the sun," Fabian reveals. "On one hand, the days can be so dark that you forget the sun exists. On the other hand, when we step into the presence of God—whose glory is so radiant and bright—the sun will pale in comparison. We're pondering this dichotomy from a perspective informed by our faith and experiences. All of the hard things will eventually fade away, and we'll be left in the presence of light."
idle threat have uplifted listeners with a combination of cathartic energy and open-hearted honesty since 2016's Grown Tired EP. They deepened their connection with an ardent audience on blurred visions in 2021 highlighted by "no turning back," "driftwood" [feat. Cory Brandan of Norma Jean], and many others. They toured with everyone from Make Sure, Distend, Meadows, and Roy Sullivan to Norma Jean, Emery, Aaron Gillespie, and Watashi Wa, in addition to appearing at Furnace Fest twice.
Throughout the spring of 2025, the musicians recorded you'll forget the sun in Nashville with Haste The Day frontman Stephen Keech behind the board as producer. In the studio, they made major creative leaps as a collective, honing their sound in the process.
German gothic metal pioneers CREMATORY have released a brand-new music video for their latest single “Blind,” offering a dark glimpse into their upcoming greatest hits album English Hymns & Deutsche Hymnen.
The album is set for release on May 15, 2026 via ROAR – A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music and celebrates 35 years of the band’s career. English Hymns & Deutsche Hymnen will be available as an expansive three-CD edition as well as limited double-vinyl formats. The 3-CD set includes English Hymns, Deutsche Hymnen, and Engulfed in Darkness Demo. With “Blind”, the exclusive bonus track on the Deutsche Hymnen LP edition, CREMATORY present one of their darkest German-language tracks to date. Driven by themes of spiritual erosion and emotional desolation, the song unfolds a bleak, cinematic atmosphere, combining crushing heaviness with immersive depth. Lines such as “kein morgen naht, kein leben bleibt / nur kalte asche” reinforce the track’s cold, ritualistic aesthetic.

Today, after more than 40 eventful years of existence, Canada's progressive sci-fi metal innovators VOÏVOD return with ‘Symphonique,’ a special live release together with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra, set for release on June 5, 2026, worldwide via Century Media Records.
‘Symphonique,’ which functions like an epic piece of cinema, showcases VOÏVOD’s pioneering futuristic metal with the strains of a symphony orchestra, and features a carefully curated VOÏVOD best-of setlist composed of 12 songs across 73 minutes, recorded live on June 4th, 2025, at the Grand Théâtre in Québec City, Canada.
Offering a first taste of 'Symphonique,' the band shares the first single, "Forgotten In Space (Symphonique)," alongside an official visualizer curated by Cloud Motion Design, available to view below.
VOÏVOD’s drummer and founding member Michel “Away” Langevin comments on ‘Symphonique’:
“This live album with the Quebec Symphony Orchestra is a longtime dream turned reality. Thankfully, we will experience it again in 2027 with the Orchestre Symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, right in the region where VOÏVOD formed back in 1983. We wish to take this show across the globe with local orchestras one day, but in the meantime, I hope you will enjoy this epic release. It’s the closest we’ve ever come to sounding like a dystopian sci-fi movie soundtrack, another dream of ours!”
About the first single "Forgotten in Space (Symphonique),” bassist Dominic “Rocky” Laroche adds:
“Taken from the album ‘Killing Technology,’ 'Forgotten in Space' transports us to a Mad Max-esque science-fiction universe. Denis "Piggy" D'Amour was even inspired by it when composing parts of the original version. This incredible symphonic masterpiece, orchestrated by Hugo Begin, offers a powerful orchestral introduction that takes us on a musical journey where the fusion of metal and classical music invites us to imagine, for 6 minutes and 27 seconds, that humanity itself may have been forgotten in space…”
Symphonique' follows the release of VOÏVOD’s latest Juno Award-winning studio album,'Synchro Anarchy' (2022), which reached #7 on the official album sales charts in Germany, #64 in Switzerland, #67 in Austria, and #88 in the Netherlands upon release. It also arrives after the band’s special 40th anniversary release, 'Morgöth Tales' (2023).
VOÏVOD will next embark on comprehensive European touring runs in suitable timing for the upcoming live release starting in June.

Inspired by Robin Williams' quote, “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about,” BLACK SITES have released their new single "Silent Wars". The single lands ahead of the forthcoming full length, For Eternity. The album is set to release independently on July 17, 2026.
BLACK SITES founder Mark Sugar comments on "Silent Wars": "This track is one of my favorites. While there’s some blatant Jake E. Lee homages, a lot of the song was inspired by Americana artist Jason Isbell, of all people. The guitar bit at the very end was recorded as I wrote it — the take that’s on the record is the first time I ever played it."
Heavy driving rock 'n' roll rhythms kick off "Silent Wars" with high energy. Drawing from traditional rock and metal styles, the track delivers a powerful message through moody verse arrangements and a catchy chorus hook.
For Eternity was produced by Mark Sugar & Chris Black, recorded at I Can’t Believe It’s Not Mace Street Studios, with mixing and mastering by Dan Swano. Drums on For Eternity were recorded by Vladimir Ružičić at Kebac Recording Studio.

Based out of Chicago, IL, USA, BLACK SITES was founded in 2016, initially as a studio project, by vocalist and guitarist Mark Sugar. Sugar was later joined by members John Picillo (bass), Ryan Bruchert (guitar) and Chris Avgerin (drums).
