HOST Release Sprawling Ambient Remix Of "Hiding From Tomorrow" By LUSTMORD

Contemporary dark wave project HOST, launched by Nick Holmes and Greg Mackintoshof PARADISE LOST, have released a sprawling ambient remix of 'Hiding From Tomorrow' by LUSTMORD. The remix follows the recent release of the bands debut albumIX.

Greg Mackintosh comments "Lustmord has taken this track from electro goth into a whole new territory. I love it when a remix drifts far and wide from it's source material and he has certainly done that. He has created a sprawling, emotive, cinematic soundscape"

About HOST
The origins of HOST do not trace back to the 1999 PARADISE LOST album bearing the same name but instead to the West Yorkshire music clubs of the mid-to-late 1980s. WhileHolmes and Mackintosh were already certified heavy metal fanatics (“metal thrashing mad” as Holmes equates), they were equally drawn to the New Wave and Goth music scenes. The pounding rhythms, sublime melodies and undercurrent of darkness drew them in, creating immediate earworms and a desire to delve further.

Mackintosh finally put plans into motion during the pandemic for a venture that would merge his penchant for sound design with the moods and atmosphere of 1980s dance-pop and Goth. The project was originally a solo pursuit until he asked Holmes, his longtime PARADISE LOST songwriting partner, to join. 'HOST' was selected as the name as a tip of the hat to the aforementioned album that found PARADISE LOST in an unprecedented period of experimentation that eschewed their metal roots and also challenged their fanbase in ways like never before.

“We always stood by 'Host' as an album,” says Mackintosh. “This project is not totally connected to that album, but some of the ideas are extrapolated. We’re taking the basic premise and trying it out now. And, really, it was something fun and interesting for us to do. We’ve been doing PARADISE LOST for a long time and got an itch to try something different from where PL is now. I could take PL down this route again. Who knows? It may happen if we live long enough, but I thought, ‘Why not now?’ I had the time to do it.”

HOST Release Video For Second Single "Hiding From Tomorrow"

Dark wave duo HOST (Greg Mackintosh and Nick Holmes) have released a new video for 'Hiding From Tomorrow', the second single from their upcoming debut album IX. This new offering is a brooding cut of stark goth rock, akin to the works of Siouxise and the Banshees and The Sisters of Mercy.

Vocalist Nick Holmes comments "'Hiding From Tomorrow’ was one of the first songs we wrote for the Host project and although the title would suggest otherwise, it was written a few years prior to the pandemic. With that in mind, I was thinking about the things that keep you awake at night, and although life is something that should never be taken for granted, uncertainty is a big part of it, and none of us know what’s around the corner."

SUBWAY TO SALLY Releases Second Single + Live-Video “IX” / New Live Blu-Ray/DVD/CD “Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark” out June 18

SUBWAY TO SALLY Releases Second Single + Live-Video for “IX”

(feat. Saltatio Mortis).

New Live Blu-Ray/DVD/CD, Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark, out June 18, 2021 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order NOW

When two greats of the German folk rock and medieval scene get together, there’s nothing but magic taking place - not even a prevailing pandemic can change that! Today, SUBWAY TO SALLY drop their captivating performance of the Saltatio Mortis hit “IX”, cut from the band’s upcoming, unique Blu-Ray/DVD/CD highlight, Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark, out June 18, 2021 via Napalm Records.

The original song can be found on the Saltatio Mortis full-length Das Schwarze Einmaleins(2013) and is now captured for eternity, presented by both bands as an exclusive version on Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark.

SUBWAY TO SALLY add:

“We covered ‘IX’ and put it into our very own SUBWAY TO SALLY version. Our long-time companions from Saltatio Mortis wanted us to cover the song for a bonus CD that’s part of their album Zirkus Zeitgeist (2015). Within a short time, the track became very popular amongst our fans and even pushed a few of our classics out of our streaming top 5 temporarily. After a joint tour playing the track together with Saltatio Mortis, we enjoyed it so much that we decided to keep it in our regular live set for some time. Or in other words: a Saltatio Mortis cover version became part of the SUBWAY TO SALLY set! I don't think there can be a better alliance within our scene and so we were really looking forward to performing the song again with our friends at Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark. “

SUBWAY TO SALLY’s annual Eisheilige Nacht concert goes virtual with exciting special guests!

Chart-breaking German folk rock institution SUBWAY TO SALLY demonstrate their exceptional live presence once more, carving a unique stage experience in stone with the upcoming release, Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark. In an intimate setting, the Potsdam based unit drops a colorful bunch of songs taken off their multifaceted discography and invites its listeners to be part of an exciting adventure! Supported by many great artists (Saltatio Mortis, Schandmaul, Feuerschwanz, Chris Harms/Lord Of The Lost,MajorVoice, Patty Gurdy), SUBWAY TO SALLY created an unforgettable evening that offers numerous surprises and specials neither seen nor heard until now.

SUBWAY TO SALLY on Eisheilige Nacht - Back to Lindenpark:

“After 11 years of our "EISHEILIGE NACHT-tradition", we definitely did not want that 2020 will be seen as a red "X" in the history of our festival series. So we thought about how we could provide our fans with the EISHEILIGE NACHT feeling at their homes, when we weren't allowed to tour ourselves. An online concert wasn't enough for us: EISHEILIGE NACHT is not only about meeting friends, but also being a highlight of the year - with several befriended bands performing live on stage. We wanted to implement all of this in one experience. We wanted to record this very special event where the EISHEILIGE NACHT originally began. Instead of playing a concert in an empty hall, we used the size of the hall, lined up in a circle and placed our guest musicians into our midst. This created new insights that have never been seen before in any SUBWAY TO SALLY concert film! We are very pleased that we can now, as requested by countless fans, record this event for eternity as a special concert film! "

Since their foundation in the early ‘90s, SUBWAY TO SALLY have established themselves at the top of the scene. Having released thirteen studio records so far, the seven-piece featuring the remarkable Eric Fish on vocal duties never fails in surprising their devotees with an ingenious symbiosis of folk, heavy metal and rock. In the course of time, it became a tradition to celebrate every year with numerous fans and a final live show on December 30 at the venue Lindenpark in the band's hometown of Potsdam. Due to great demand, in 2009 the band decided to move to a bigger location in the same area. The Eisheilige Nacht was born and turned into a whole annual festival tour shortly after, where top-notch bands heeded the call to join SUBWAY TO SALLY for some magical evenings.

In 2020, SUBWAY TO SALLY returned to Lindenpark and - supported by many great artists like Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost), Feuerschwanz, Schandmaul, Saltatio Mortis, MajorVoice and Patty Gurdy - created an extraordinary lockdown live experience.
