All worth its weight in hordes of kroner.” - Decibel Magazine, December 2022 issue

Out of Brooklyn NY Comes Mag Electric with Their New Single "Thorn In My Side"

MAG ELECTRIC release their new single/video "THORN IN MY SIDE". Mag Electric plays music that can best be described as hard rock with a healthy dose of psychedelic influence. "Thorn In My Side" garners all of those motions put into place by a distinct bass and drum drive. The vocals were undeniably written and sung to fit the jam. This is a complete work formed with overtures of classic and psych rock. With their second release, it is time to give Mag Electric their due. "Thorn In My Side" is set to bring the rock loud and proud!

'"Thorn in my Side" is Mag Electric's hard rock expression of life's annoyances and problems. Brought about by daily struggles most everyone experiences in all walks of life, the song expresses a response to the thorn in your side in your own life. All wrapped up in a psychedelic hard rock package, "Thorn" figures to be song rock fans can relate to as we go through life picking thorns out of our own sides."' - William Peluso

"Thorn In My Side'' is the second single from NYC 3-piece Mag Electric. Building off the hard rock foundation the band laid with their debut "Iron Horse", "Thorn In My Side" sees the band explore more of their musical roots. The psychedelic influences of guitarist Jack Simchak are on full display, from beginning to end. In addition, the unique arrangement necessitated by the song's intro section showcases the band's appreciation of non-traditional song structures. Make sure to check out "Thorn In My Side", a song that could be an instant classic among fans of the genre.

ABOUT:

Mag Electric is a 3 piece hard rock band from Brooklyn. The band consists of Jack Simchak (guitar and vocals), Scott Meyer (bass), and Bill Peluso (drums). The three came together out of a shared love of old-school hard rock bands like QOTSA, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, and ZZ Top, as well as master musicians like Jeff Porcaro. Mag plays music that can best be described as hard rock with a healthy dose of psychedelic influence. Through each song written and performed the band strives to stay true to what they love about their musical roots while maintaining relevance to what they as individuals want to express. On the heels of their first release Roadie music mag said this about their debut single "Iron Horse", "What Jack Simchak (guitar and vocals), Scott Meyer (bass) and Bill Peluso (drums) did on Iron Horse, can be considered an immediate classic, such is the strength of its hard rock with seventies influences, but which borders on the lines of stoner rock, at certain times, showing enormous versatility in their heavy and adrenaline-filled sound, with an intense footprint and a lot of originality on the surface at all times." The band is currently gigging around NYC in support of their upcoming sophomore single "Thorn In My Side" coming out in the winter of 2023. Looking ahead you can find the band on the road touring the northeast this spring with more releases coming throughout the rest of 2023 so make sure to follow and stay tuned.

*Mag Electric will be going out on tour in late April-early May throughout the northeast going down as south as Virginia and as far north as Maine hitting many places in between. More information will be available on all band social media accounts as the dates get closer.

Dark times inspire 'Requiem For The Sun' single by Brooklyn post-punk duo A CLOUD OF RAVENS

“Their sound, though inspired by bands of their youth, is not rooted stubbornly in the past - their music feels of this time, with their messages transversing the cosmos” ~ Post-Punk.com

"Sonic luxuriance... racing at full velocity with tight-fisted riffs, cutting exactitude and danceability... a healthy reminder of the original and timeless allure of the post-punk sound and scene" ~ The Spill Magazine

“A Cloud of Ravens impress not only for the dark poetry, which forms and develops in the band’s lyrics and expands in their alluring titles, but the duo also rivet through their gritty and immediate sonic scheme, which feels pitch dark and hard as nails”Destroy // Exist

"A perfect blend of an homage to the past and the modern construction of the future. A heroic journey through a desolate land" ~ Sounds and Shadows

“They play cold wave, they play post-punk, they are Gothics, and they set to music some of the most striking lyrics you can find out there” ~ White Light // White Heat

Alt-rock post-punk duo A Cloud of Ravens present a new veiled calling card for their forthcoming 'Lost Hymns' LP, set for release on April 28 via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music Europe. With a hopeful eye towards the light, 'Requiem For The Sun' is a rich frenetic jaunt through the multiple facets of darkness we are all so eager to leave.

This new offering follows the singles 'Nature of Artifice' and 'The Blackest Mantra', which opened the door to the hallways of the new album, a collection of 11 tracks recorded from spring to autumn 2021 and mastered by ACTORS' Jason Corbett at the Jacknife Sound studio in Vancouver.

"Though it has nothing to do with actual organized religion, “Requiem for the Sun” takes me back to hymns I sang in church choir as a child, and informed the album’s title. To paraphrase a sentiment that dates back to the early 20th century; in a world of deceit and disinformation, both personal or worldly, sunlight, truth, is the best disinfectant. If this song has a message, it’s that," says Matthew McIntosh.

Formed in 2018 by Matthew McIntosh (guitar and vocals) and Beth Narducci (bass guitar), the Brooklyn-based duo emerged on the burgeoning dark music scene with a series of self-released offerings that garnered attention that led to their 2021 album 'Another Kind of Midnight', a mournful yet triumphant collection exploring the heart of a world amidst a devastating pandemic and torn by moral tribalism.

Effectively merging classic and contemporary post-punk and darkwave sensibilities, their somewhat poetic use of prose and metaphor expressed the trials and joys of the world in which we now find ourselves. A Cloud of Ravens' subsequent remix-based EP featured contributions by legendary producer John Fryer and such prominent artists as Clan of Xymox, ACTORS, Chris Vrenna and Ritual Howls.

Growing up in a family of avid music lovers and her mother being a professional opera single, McIntosh arrived at this genre of music after ample explorations in the punk, death rock and hardcore scenes, finally forging the duo's trademark sound with Narducci, whose background is more connected with alternative rock and industrial music, as well as professionally supporting fellow musicians in the A&R field.

As of February 3, 'Requiem For The Sun' is available across digital outlets, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Bandcamp. In addition to the full 'Lost Hymns' album release in April, fans can look forward to North American tour dates with Clan of Xymox and Curse Mackey in mid-2023.

ELK CITY haunts on Patti Smith-esque 'Floating Above The Water', latest taster of new 'Above The Water' LP

Elk City’s cool and elegant sound draws on 1980s “dream pop” and bits of 1960s folk-rock" ~ The New York Times

"This music is sophisticated – vivacious, harmonious and memorable due to many factors, not least of all is the remarkable vocal timbre and convincing delivery of vocalist Renée LoBue, recalling Eddie Brickell at times and Jefferson Airplane’s Grace Slick at others" ~ Music-News.com

"A formidable offering... animated, brazen and effervescent. LoBue’s commanding vocals are the icing on the cake, making for a highly infectious track" ~ The Spill Magazine

"White-hot, catchy and propels the listener ahead in forward motion... with a vocal timbre somewhere in the midst of Chrissie Hynde, Blondie and Patti Smith" ~ The Record Stache

Art pop band Elk City presents their new video for 'Floating Above The Water', a trippy chill track from their new 'Above The Water' album, out now via Magic Door Record Label. Performed live at Union Pool in Brooklyn, this video was recorded and filmed by H. Robert Escurel.

Some bands have that striped-sunlight sound; Elk City has that moon-reflecting-on-the-water sound. It’s always nighttime in Elk City - the same nighttime where Big Star liked to see the people. The same nighttime where, every so often, that ol’ killing moon comes too soon. Elk City's 'Above the Water' LP is that particular stripe of evocative post-everything rock ‘n’ roll, exalted and earthy at once, revelling in the joy of experience. Because that’s exactly how these songs got written in the first place - the band jammed until they existed.

Drummer-producer Ray Ketchem and vocalist-artist Renée LoBue have helmed Elk City since 2000, opening new chapters into their sound across 5 albums and 3 EPs. But with their 2022 LP, Above the Water, they’ve abandoned the script altogether, and that has everything to do with the group’s current lineup, which features guitarists Sean Eden (Luna), Chris Robertson (Psychedelic Furs side project Feed) and bassist Richard Baluyut (Versus).

Renée LoBue says: “The lyrics to “Floating Above the Water” are partially a nod to my favorite cult documentary 'The Source Family' - “There are homes we can live in. There are names we were given.”  In a broader sense, it’s a call to float or rise above immersive illusions of the material world. Ultimately, it’s about expansion; remaining psyched (pun intended) about the continual journey of seeking that which opens doors to a soul’s unfolding.”

This single following their Suzanne Vega-esque confessional single 'Apology Song', upbeat introspective lead track 'That Someone' and the laid-back and philosophical 'Your Time Doesn't Exist'.

A new chapter in the Montclair, NJ band’s evolution, the new album is vibrant, raw-edged and bold, showcasing a new guitar-rich lineup. Released via the newly-launched Magic Door Record Label, founded by Guided by Voices drummer Kevin March with Ketchem and LoBue with a simple mission to release music created by the rich community of artists who surround them, this album reveals the band’s North Jersey roots and lineage with The Feelies, Yo La Tengo (with whom they share a former label, Bar/None) and Luna (with whom they share a guitarist).

‘Above the Water’ was recorded, mixed and mastered at Ketchem’s Magic Door Recording, opened in 2017 as an acoustically lush refuge for musical expression and experimentation. Ketchem, whose production credits include Guided By Voices, Luna and Gramercy Arms, partnered with legendary studio designer George Augspurger to transform a cavernous warehouse into a freeform studio where vintage microphones, modern studio gear, and bespoke sound tuning elevate and inspire.

The 'Above The Water' LP is out now, available across fine digital outlets, including Apple MusicTidalQobuz and Spotify, as well as Bandcamp. The band will be playing their album release show in Boston (Jamaica Plain) at The Midway(together with Sleepyhead).

BIOHAZARD REUNITE WITH ORIGINAL LINEUP ANNOUNCE LIVE DATES, NEW MATERIAL

Biohazard is back.

Celebrating their 35th anniversary as a band, Brooklyn, NY hardcore metal legends Biohazard have returned, reuniting their original lineup of guitarist/vocalist Billy Gradziadei, guitarist Bobby Hambel, drummer Danny Schuler, and bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld.

The first wave of confirmed dates for the seminal outfit includes multiple international festivals in the summer of 2023, as well as select appearances in America. See the current dates below, with more announcements coming soon.

In addition to touring, Biohazard has a 35th anniversary documentary in the works containing previously unreleased footage spanning four decades. They also plan on returning to the studio to record new material in early 2023.

“Biohazard is an iconic band that ripped it up on the streets of New York when I lived there in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, so I’m excited to be working with them to bring their pioneering hardcore sound to a new generation,” says Andy Gould (Rob Zombie, Pantera, Type O Negative, more). The band is managed by Gould and Paul Gargano and booked by Jim Morewood at the K2 Agency internationally, and Steve Sokol at Pinnacle in North America.

Biohazard pioneered a genre, with a trailblazing sound that fused elements of hardcore, heavy metal, punk, and hip-hop.

BILLY GRAZIADEI: “Over the years, we made some great music together and had so many incredible shows on some pretty amazing tours. After spending so much time and focus on Powerflo and my solo project BillyBio, things just fell in place at the right time and I decided it was the time to recapture that energy and go kick ass again with the original lineup of Biohazard with Danny, Bobby, and Evan!”

BOBBY HAMBEL: “I’m honored to perform with the band again. I can’t wait to get onstage with the guys and do what we do! I’m looking forward to traveling and playing live - see you out there!”

DANNY SCHULER: “Life is short, things happen, and before you know it, it’s too late - that’s why I’m extremely grateful that we are getting the chance to do this again, forgiving the past and focusing on the future. I’ve missed the band and the great times we’ve had, and I’m looking forward to the shows, the travel, and seeing our friends all over the world again… This is gonna be awesome, let’s go!”

EVAN SEINFELD: “It’s been ten years since we all played together, and I’m in a huge place of gratitude for the opportunity to get back to the roots of Biohazard and not only reconnect with the other guys, but also the fans. We’ve been through decades of madness, and it feels like the fantastic four are back together.”

Pre-order "Survival Of The Sickest" NOW:

The world is in flames, and "Survival Of The Sickest", produced by BLOODBATH and co-produced and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory at Rorysound Studios, offers no respite from the horrors of reality. Instead, with the addition of new guitarist Tomas ‘Plytet’ Åkvik (Lik) onboard, BLOODBATH’s latest and greatest album gleefully confronts the slavering ghoul lurking in the shadows, and treats him to ten songs of ripping death metal frenzy. Alongside BLOODBATH’s official alumni, "Survival Of The Sickest" boasts a smattering of irresistible cameos from the great, good and ghoulish of the metal underground, including Barney Greenway (Napalm Death), Luc Lemay (Gorguts) and Marc Grewe (Morgoth).

From the thuggish brain-smash of opener “Zombie Inferno” to the bleak, obsidian ooze of closer “No God Before Me”, "Survival Of The Sickest" is the sound of a great band in blistering form. In contrast with The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn, which borrowed heavily from the blackened end of the death metal world, the new BLOODBATH goes straight for the jugular in true old school fashion. With strong echoes of everything from Morbid Angel and Death to Deicide and Obituary, songs like the rampaging “Putrefying Corpse”, the disgustingly slow and heavy “Dead Parade”, and the deliciously twisted “Tales Of Melting Flesh” breathe fresh fire into an arcane, perpetually rotting formula.

Formed by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström (both of KATATONIA), Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) and Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity) in 1998, BLOODBATH devoted themselves to resurrecting the increasingly forgotten art of pure death metal. In 2014, they unveiled a new frontman – legendary Paradise Lost vocalist Nick Holmes, now redubbed Old Nick – and yet another macabre musical evolution. With this new line-up, the only way to go was grim. On "Survival Of The Sickest", BLOODBATH evoke their most horrifying sonic scenarios to date, from the death-by-munching nightmare of “Malignant Maggot Therapy”, to the murderous nihilism of “Affliction Of Extinction”. A glorious comeback from a legendarily wicked musical force, "Survival Of The Sickest" provides yet more proof that BLOODBATH are the kings of the old school.

"Survival Of The Sickest" will be available in the following formats:

TOMBS Unleashes New Song "Bone Furnace"

Subscribe to Season Of Mist for new releases : https://som.lnk.to/YouTube Taken from the album 'Under Sullen Skies'. Release Date: November 20, 2020. Order h...

Brooklyn metal formation TOMBS has partnered with Decibel Magazine to unleash their apocalyptic second single, "Bone Furnace," along with a visualizer. The song is taken from the band's upcoming full-length, 'Under Sullen Skies' on November 20 via Season of Mist.

Pre-orders for 'Under Sullen Skies' available in the Season of Mist shop HERE.

There’s a line from Mike Hill’s audiobook/tour diary of ANODYNE’s 2004 European tour in which the gravel-throated frontman affirms, “I will always outwork you.” In that case, Hill was referring to an incident in Germany early on during a six-week long overseas jaunt with his previous band. In actuality, however, he could have been talking about any instance between when he first picked up a guitar as a teen and the present. Whether it’s his history dating back to previous bands OTIS, ANODYNE, KING GENERATOR or VERSOMA, his ongoing solo work in VASILEK, the more recent SCORPION THRONE  project or his thirteen year reign as the driving force and nerve center of post-black metal institution TOMBS, hard work is second nature and nothing will keep the guitarist/vocalist from creative endeavor and expression. And it’s not just music in which his propulsive work ethic has gleaned results: Hill also is the CEO and roast master at Savage Gold Coffee (a labelling nod to TOMBS’ 2014 album of the same name), the host/producer/creator of the Everything Went Black podcast, host and producer of Gimme Radio’s Metal Matters flagship podcast, the creator and co-host of horror podcast Necromaniacs as well as a stalwart in the print and online journalism world covering music and MMA fighting. His is, has been and always will be a life steeped in dedication and with unassailable drive in the cross hairs. And despite the world being put on pause, Hill refuses to curtail his innate determination and ongoing tenacity with the result being TOMBS emerging with the next chapter in its impressive catalog and growing legacy: the band’s fifth full-length, 'Under Sullen Skies'.

“The week VERSOMA broke up in 2007, I started TOMBS,” he says, recalling how, characteristically, the band started before any dust was permitted to settle. “The initial rehearsals ended up being the bulk of material that showed up on the first [self-titled] EP. The intent from the beginning was to get back to playing music I wanted to hear and to not be so concerned with genre or satisfying anyone else’s desires. It was to do music on a personal level and be a reflection of the darkness I’ve felt throughout my life.”

Formed in the gritty corners of pre-gentrified Brooklyn, NY, TOMBS’ early mandate was steeped in the harshness and atonality of black metal but dosed with trace amounts of the varied influences and inspirations ingrained in Hill’s musical muscle memory by previous bands. “The canon of music TOMBS has created has spanned several different genres, but I’ve always had it my intent for there to always be a certain amount of violence and hardness lurking the background.”

Those early years delivered splits and singles, the highly revered 'Winter Hours' debut in 2009 and Decibel’s 2011 Album of the Year, 'Path of Totality'. Never one to sit still, 'Path of Totality' was followed by appreciable and impressive amounts of touring in accordance with the lauding afforded by critics and fans and the braying of foes, which only served as fuel for Hill’s perseverance. Savage Gold came three years later after which a restless Hill began nudging TOMBS’ black metal base into territories populated by gothic and death rock artists like FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM and SISTERS OF MERCY as well as avant-garde purveyors Caspar Brotzmann and Live Skull while never forgetting – or being able to – scrape the grime of NYC from under his fingernails. The addition of a second guitar and live keyboards/samples brought a fuller sound and allowed noise sequences and soundscapes to be brought to the live show. It was around the time of 2016 'All Empires Fall' EP that TOMBS punctuated its iconoclastic spirit and thought process. Despite then-being part of the Relapse Records family, the band struck out with the intent of self-releasing the EP in order to retain as much independence as contractual obligations would allow – retaining the digital and publishing rights while eventually licensing the record back to Relapse. A one album stint in 2017 under the Metal Blade banner birthed 'The Grand Annihilation' into the world where TOMBS took broader and more daring steps into buffering black metal with morose melody, sullen death rock and classic METALLICA chugging. Following a parting from Metal Blade, the band – now completed by drummer Justin Spaeth, guitarist Matt Medeiros and bassist Drew Murphy, who are also 3/4ths of New Jersey death metal crew KALOPSIA - quickly found a home on Season of Mist and issued the 'Monarchy of Shadows' EP literally a week before the world went into Coronavirus lockdown.

“The original strategy assumed we would be on the road for most of 2020,” says Hill with a lamenting laugh. “We had a sick tour with Napalm Death planned right after the EP’s release. We were going to record the new full-length before the tour and have it come out in the fall. There was all kinds of tour talk and plans and 2020 would have been a tour-de-force of TOMBSactivity in the United States and Europe. Obviously, none of that is happening, but we’re still going ahead with the record.”

Of course they are. Throw a hurdle in front of Mike Hill and he’ll never shy at rolling up his sleeves and taking on the challenge. Even with the world in shutdown mode, Hill is still brimming with enthusiasm about the input and work ethic of the current TOMBS lineup and how Spaeth, Mederios and Murphy stepped up to the plate in the creation of 'Under Sullen Skies'.

“Everyone contributes on this record and the door has always been open for others to do so. There has always been this misconception that I’m some sort of tyrant always telling people what to do and play. The fact of the matter is that most of the time I outwork people; that’s just the way I am. No one is ever going to outwork me on any level in any area of my life and I was always coming up with material. Now, I have these maniacs in the band who are equally motivated and there’s a whole new life injected into TOMBS. That’s awesome and I love it. These days we’ll try anything and we actually write stuff and throw it out because it’s not perfect. It’s more like a writing committee, which I really appreciate. It’s not just me writing everything. It’s a big difference from 'The Grand Annihilation' which was basically a solo record.”

'Under Sullen Skies' is this lineup’s second kick at twisting black metal’s DNA around dank emotional corners, psychological turmoil and the urban underbelly all of which is unavoidably coloured and touched by the present-day status of life on this here Earth.

“The album’s title came during all this and the sort of post-apocalyptic world we’re living in,” Hill explains. “It encapsulates an overall feeling of gloom and depression which is pretty much how we’ve been living for most of this year. The title was the last piece to fall into place. I remember standing on the roof of the building I was living in at the time on a grey day and it was raining – actually, it wasn’t even raining; it was a half-assed attempt at rain! – and depressing and I just thought, ‘What a sullen sky’ and it just stuck with me.”

The album starts with “Bone Collector,” a furious blast of melodic black metal that shifts gears towards an anthemic fist-pumping slog through the goth rock-thrash metal VENN DIAGRAM. “Void Constellation” takes as many cues from Peaceville Three gloom and doom as it does the death metal stomp of OBITUARY and INCANTATION. “Descensum” mines the various well-worn parts of Ride the Lightning for influence before blasting the doors open with some startlingly spacious chromatic single-note atonality. As the album progresses, further textures and moods are employed via acoustic instrumentation and keyboards as well as sampled soundscapes all butting heads with furious second wave black metal and sly to nods to death rock heroes SISTERS OF MERCY and FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, all of the band’s motivations and interests being dropped into the chameleonic pair of tracks closing the album, “Sombre Ruin” and the appropriately titled “Plague Years.”

“‘Barren’ stands out as the song that’s most collaborative,” notes Hill. “Justin wrote the bulk of the riffs on that one, that sort of NWOBHM/SCORPIONS ending part is something I came up with, Matt added a bunch of guitar harmonies over it and Drew’s bass is laid thick underneath. That one is one of the biggest group efforts and one of the strongest songs on the record.

“I explore a lot of the archetypes that are used in folklore on this record, like werewolves and vampires which I’ve always been interested in, and on a song like ‘Secrets of the Black Sun’ I talk about the finite nature of our time on this planet, that nothing is really permanent and being aware of that whether as an individual or as a civilization, which I guess fits in with the pandemic and the changes that are going on. There are all kinds of other people, civilizations and creatures that have come and gone long before us and if you think about it over a long enough time span, everyone’s life expectancy goes down to zero.”

The new album not only sees Hill expanding his creative and collaborative comfort zone by wholly embracing the offerings of his band mates, but he’s also let down the drawbridge to allow folks from beyond the immediate TOMBSfamily to include what he describes as “mad guest spots.”

“There’s Cat Cabral, who does the spoken word piece on ‘Angel of Darkness.’ She’s not a musician per se; she’s more from the occult and witchcraft world. I’ve been friends with her for a really long time and she’s a great resource for esoteric knowledge. She’s also an actress who has done plays and commercials and been in films, so I figured she’d be the perfect person to deliver dialogue in an emotionally deep way, and be good at taking direction. Ray Suhy from SIX FEET UNDER rips the guitar solo in ‘Barren’ and that solo is its own masterpiece, in my opinion. BLACK CROWN INITIATE and former TOMBS live guitarist Andy Thomas contributed a guitar solo in ‘Void Constellation.’ Todd Stern from PSYCROPTIC plays the solo in ‘Mortem.’ Sera Timms from IDES OF GEMINI  and BLACK MATH HORSEMAN does guest vocals on ‘Secrets of the Black Sun.’ We’ve got INTEGRITY’s Dwid Hellion singing the chorus on ‘The Hunger’ and BLACK ANVIL’s Paul Delaney also doing a couple of verses on ‘Angel of Darkness.’ So, yeah, there are a bunch of people on there and it’s like a community effort which I enjoy. I like involving people I respect and having them be a part of the whole thing.”

After spending his entire adult life navigating the pitfalls and pratfalls of the industry for expressive and creative opportunity, Hill has amassed an impressive legacy, one that 'Under Sullen Skies' contributes to admirably and irreverently. Like most, the extreme music underground lifer and veteran is probably justified in approaching the future with very muted optimism, but while the world works at screwing its head back on straight, Hill is going to do what he wants to do as well as he possibly can. Uncertainty may reign at the moment, but Hill and TOMBS are still going to do their thing and will be content to please themselves in the process. If anyone else happens to be along for the ride, then welcome aboard.

“'Under Sullen Skies' is a dark and introspective album,” he asserts. “It’s not a happy record that anyone is going to use to get pumped up on a Friday night. We wanted to pull out the stops, go full-on and make a nice body of work. I could care less if anyone likes the band or not because I’ve been through so many ups and downs with this thing that I don’t give a fuck if people enjoy the music. I know I like it, I know the guys in the band like it and we’re just rocking and rolling. This record and the EP came out about as close as I could imagine to what I have in my brain about how this band should sound. The whole trajectory of the band has had each record never quite hitting, but 'Monarchy of Shadows' and 'Under Sullen Skies' have both really come out how I envisioned the songs to be.”

New Studio Album 'Tar a-Kan' Out May 15th

Brooklyn-based industrial outfit FELLAHIN FALL has released a new single from their upcoming studio album, 'Tar a-Kan'. Fans can check out the premiere of "A Fading Whisper" exclusively via Metal Sucks at the link found HERE. Born from the ashes of melodic death metal band Fin'amor, Fellahin Fall released their debut self-titled EP in November of 2019, with 'Tar a-Kan' primed to see a May 15th independent release.

Speaking about their new single, Fellahin Fall primary songwriter Nodar Khutortsov says, "You don't overcome the nostalgia of a period in your life until you are humiliated by reliving it. 'A Fading Whisper' is about the narrator's hope that his previous hubris is a lesson to be learned, rather than a moment to be yearned."

Pre-order 'Tar a-Kan' HERE

About FELLAHIN FALL

Founded by songwriter Nodar Khutortsov in the summer of 2018, Fellahin Fall was initially conceived of as a synth-centered darkwave project. Through many iterations of the music, the group would evolve into the the gothic-industrial band it is today. Patrick Reilly of Tengger Cavalry, drummer Eugene Bell and rhythm guitarist Raphael Pinsker of Fin’amor, and bassist Mark Morrill complete the lineup. Fellahin Fall's self-titled EP was released in November of 2019. The band's music is written from and influenced by the backdrop of South Brooklyn. Themes of dragons and Scandinavian forests are nowhere to be found here. Instead, contemporary urban thematics dominate the auditory landscape. The upcoming album 'Tar a-Kan' is narrated by and named after a man in the near future who is ravaged by the change of time, technology, and himself. Tar a-Kan struggles to come to terms with his ever evolving state and the crushing urbana that surrounds him.

TOMBS Share Previously Unreleased Live Music, "Abraxas Ritual: Live In Chicago"

While concerts might currently be on hiatus, you can still experience the live fury of Brooklyn metal formation TOMBS! The band has just dropped previously unreleased live tracks from a 2019 set in Chicago, IL, which was recorded by Spenser Morris on June 17, 2019 at Livewire Lounge. "Abraxas Ritual: Live in Chicago" features four live cuts and is available to stream or purchase now via Bandcamp at THIS LOCATION.

'Monarchy of Shadows' was released on February 28 via Season of Mist, making it the band's debut to the label! The album can be heard in its entirety HERE and purchased HERE.

See what the press is saying about 'Monarchy of Shadows' below:

"Frenetic, lively and grandiose black metal colors the EP's six tracks. 'Monarchy of Shadows' references the brooding, down-tempo nature of 'The Grand Annihilation' at times; however, there is a more visceral, fast, full-frontal assault this time around that finds the band continuing to grasp at an ethereal spirit." - Blabbermouth

"The six tracks on Monarchy Of Shadows are ripping, diabolic odes to darkness that drink heavily from the same chalice as Watain, with razor-wire guitar melodies sticking jaggedly out the top..." - Kerrang

"The music has changed in small and large ways from album to album, but Tombs is one of those bands you just need to listen to, because the intensity is unwavering, and the evolution never seems to have taken any wrong turns." - No Clean Singing

"The black metal parts on this one are especially blackened and whiplash-inducing, but as is usually the case with Tombs, the album can’t be pinned down to just one sound. It also takes clear influence from goth and post-punk and Swans, and Tombs fuse those sounds with black metal pretty seamlessly." - Brooklyn Vegan

If you are looking for some further entertainment during isolation, TOMBSmainman Mike Hill is the host/producer/creator of the Everything Went Blackpodcast as well as the host and producer of Gimme Radio’s Metal Mattersflagship podcast. Episodes of Metal Matters can be heard HERE.
