DISMEMBER - Release Limited 'Historia Mortis' 12 LP Box Set Feat. All 8 Studio Albums, 2 EPs + Assorted Demos And Rarities

Swedish death metal pioneers DISMEMBER are proud to announce the release of Historia Mortis - an exclusive, strictly limited 12 LP box set, which includes all 8 DISMEMBERstudio albums, the Pieces MLP, the Misanthropic EP, The Complete Demos (1988 - 1990), as well as a separate LP containing assorted rarities. Both Misanthropic and the rarities compilation are exclusive to this set.

The entire audio has been mastered for vinyl by Patrick W. Engel at Temple of Disharmony with the goal to preserve a 'true to the original' sound and also contains the more dynamic June '91 version of Like An Ever Flowing Stream
on vinyl for the first time! Only the tracks from the Death Metal sessions have been remastered by Engel, supervised by Fred Estby, and new tape rips were used to restore the group's earliest recordings. All album layouts were created together with DISMEMBER resulting in a return of the Indecent and Obscene sticker and a new logo arrangement on The God That Never Was. On top of that, Historia Mortis features exclusive artwork by Daniele Valeriani (Mayhem, Dark Funeral), and a 36-page book with rare and previously unseen photos from the band's private collection, a commented discography, posters, flyers, and more historical content. DISMEMBER's Historia Mortis has been a team effort of band, collectors, editors, and label paying homage to one of the most consistent discographies in death metal history on six blue and six yellow LPs.

In addition to the Historia Mortis box set, standalone physical re-issues of the DISMEMBER catalog will be available on CD and Vinyl throughout 2023 via Nuclear Blast Records. Keep your eyes peeled!

About DISMEMBER:

Between 1988 and 2011 DISMEMBER earned a notorious reputation as the “Motörhead (version) of death metal”, through eight classic albums and furious live shows around the globe. The band was formed by Robert Sennebäck, David Blomqvist, and Fred Estby in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1988 and has long since been regarded as one of the originators of the trademark Swedish death metal sound, next to other pioneering bands such as ENTOMBED, GRAVE, and UNLEASHED. DISMEMBER recorded a couple of self-released demos before their 1990 demo cassette, Reborn In Blasphemy, with Matti Kärki on vocals and ENTOMBED's Nicke Andersson taking over most lead guitar parts, got picked up for a wider release by NUCLEAR BLAST RECORDS. In 1991, their first full-length, Like An Everflowing Stream (Nuclear Blast Records), saw the light of day, which was recorded by Thomas Skogsberg at the now legendary Sunlight Studios, and featured Richard Cabeza (UNANIMATED) on bass. DISMEMBER released their acclaimed sophomore album, Indecent & Obscene, in 1993, which to this day remains their most successful output. Three more albums would follow on NUCLEAR BLAST, Massive Killing Capacity (1995), Death Metal (1997) and Hate Campaign (2000), until the band decided to switch labels. They released two more albums, Where Ironcrosses Grow (2004, Karmageddon Records) and The God That Never Was (2006, Regain) before Fred Estby announced his departure for family reasons in 2007. Their last album, Dismember, followed in 2008 and the band officially broke up in 2011. After an eight-year hiatus, the band's original line-up reunited for a 30th anniversary gig at Scandinavia Death Fest in October 2019, performing together for the first time in over 20 years. Since then, the band has remained active playing festivals and shows all around the globe, and after relaunching their impressive back catalog they will set sights on new material.

DISMEMBER - Release The Complete Demos 1988-1990 & Like An Everflowing Stream (1991 Master)

Swedish death metal pioneers DISMEMBER are proud to announce that as of today the compilation The Complete Demos (1988-1990) as well as the rare 1991 master of their classic debut, Like An Everflowing Stream, are finally available on streaming services.

In 2022, DISMEMBER began to relaunch their complete catalog and this mission continues in 2023! The newest entry is a carefully restored collection of their earliest works titled The Complete Demos (1988-1990). This release was remastered by Patrick W. Engel from new tape transfers by Nicola Costantini (‘Encyclopedia Of Svensk Döds Metall’), and showcases the early days in the band’s evolution culminating in the infamous Reborn in Blasphemy demo which initiated the group’s career with Nuclear Blast Records.

In addition, Nuclear Blast and DISMEMBER are happy to release the rare June 1991 master of the band's debut album, Like An Everflowing Stream, which due to its higher dynamic range is considered to be the superior sounding version of the recording. Until now it had only been available on one particular CD pressing from 1991, but an old copy was unearthed while restoring the group’s back catalog, so it can finally be made available to a wider audience. Enjoy it in all its gory glory!

DISMEMBER - Sign With Nuclear Blast / "Like An Everflowing Stream" Kicks Off Catalog Re-issue Campaign

In celebration of this announcement, a fully remastered version of Like An Everflowing Stream has been made available on streaming services worldwide today after it had been absent for quite some time.

Like An Everflowing Stream - hailed by many as one of the best death metal albums of all time - is the first entry in a re-issue campaign of the entire DISMEMBER back catalog, which is currently being remastered from the original albums. Stay tuned for more info on proper LP & CD re-issues that are in the works for late 2022!

Fred Estby (drums) comments: “After reuniting the original line-up and performing sold-out shows in 2019, the axe chopping business needed a solid partner to get the festering complete back catalog back on the streets. The unholy alliance of 1990 is reconfirmed, Dismember and Nuclear Blast Records are once again a perfect kill team!

Jens Prüter, Head of A&R Nuclear Blast Europe, adds: "It’s a pleasure to bring back one of the Nuclear Blast bands of the early days. The 1991 debut album Like An Ever Flowing Stream quickly became a Death Metal classic and they haven’t released a weak album until they officially split up 20 years later in 2011. I still remember one of their last shows, in 2008 at the Party-San Open Air, where they played with their buddies GRAVEand UNLEASHED - only ENTOMBED was missing to complete the Big Four of Stockholm Death Metal. And it was a pleasure to see them again on their first reunion show in 2019 at the Scandinavian Death Fest in their hometown. Only a few seconds in it was clear that they were back in full force. Welcome back!"
