"With style and enigmatic poise... Kruger’s dreamy vocals spins visceral and poetic tales" ~ Texx and the City

As they gear up to release their new 'Heaving' LP, Berlin-based Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys has joined with Metropolis Records for North America distribution as a result of a partnership agreement with Europe-based Unique Records, a division of Schubert Music Europe. Uniquely merging moody art pop, dark folk and delightful ambient noise, the group, led by South Africa-born artist Lucy Kruger, creates music that is full of atmosphere and intensity.

To encounter Kruger's music is to witness a singular journey of constant reflection that is producing an ever-widening arc of creativity.  Kruger has consistently engaged in a slow, steady exploration of what it takes to make music that is universal and enduring.

“I think that what I am able to offer as an artist is a detailed expression of my experience, for although the situation may feel unique to me, the feelings are universal. Giving them a sound and shape validates and creates space for those feelings, allowing listeners to feel seen, even at a distance. Even in the isolation of a bedroom. Especially in the isolation of a bedroom,” says Lucy Kruger.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Metropolis Records and feel as if 'Heaving' has found a good home on the other side of the ocean. Hopefully the band will be able to join the songs and the label for a visit and some shows very soon.‘

Kruger also recently released the single 'Howl', along with a lyrics video and a live performance video filmed in South Africa. Defiant and devastating, catchy and cutting, 'Howl' slips from casual storytelling into visceral, near violent, confession. Catharsis in the form of rock ‘n roll.

Earller, the band released the singles 'Burning Building', 'Stereoscope' and the title track 'Heaving' with accompanying film by Belgian director and motion designer Lena Nerinckx (Contour Collective).

Since releasing the final album in the 'Tapes Trilogy' in April 2022 and touring this material extensively, the band now shifts their attention to the 'Heaving' album, the collective sonic wealth between them allowing for a live set that drifts between introverted and ecstatic. On April 4, the band kicks off their European tour as the album launch takes place the following month (May 5) at the Lido in Berlin.

The 'Heaving' LP will be released on April 7 and will be available from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp.

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys present 'Howl', the final single from their forthcoming 'Heaving' album, which will be released on April 7 via Unique Records, a division of Schubert Music Europe GmbH, and The Orchard.

Both defiant and devastating, catchy and cutting, 'Howl' slips from casual storytelling into visceral, near violent, confession. Catharsis in the form of rock ‘n roll.

In some ways a focal point of the new record, 'Howl' doesn’t just use the voice as a way to form words, but as a form of expression - an animalistic kind of autobiography. Strange sounds, and intimate snippets of stories are threaded between pulses that hope to pull the body into feeling.

"I spent the last three albums quietly singing about how I wanted to make a noise and, on this song, I’ve finally managed to do just that - which means, when we go on tour, I’ll have to make more noise, which is a lovely trap to have set for myself. I’m looking forward to seeing how it all goes, and how it all feels, for everyone involved," says Lucy Kruger.

The band recently previewed the title track 'Heaving' with film by Belgian director and motion designer Lena Nerinckx (Contour Collective), featuring Kruger and Lenny-Dee Doucha, having earlier previewed lead tracks 'Burning Building' and 'Stereoscope'.

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys are an art pop ambient noise band whose music is full of atmosphere and intensity. Based in Berlin, the group is fronted by South African-born Lucy Kruger. Full of atmosphere and intensity, this burning psychedelic folk is both intimate and energetic.

The band has been touring throughout Germany and Europe over the last year, also performing at Rheeperbahn, Fusion, Maifeld Derby, Wave-Gotik Treffen, South of Silence, Immergut, Left of The Dial, and Synästhesie.

Since releasing the third and final album in the 'Tapes Trilogy' in April 2022 and touring these albums extensively, the band is now shifting attention to the 'Heaving' LP. The range of material and storytelling captured in the trilogy, and this new material allow the group to explore a live set that drifts between introverted and ecstatic.

They have announced the upcoming album launch, which will take place at Lido in Berlin on the 5th of May along with a Spring 2023 European Tour. Concert tickets can be obtained at https://lklb.tourlink.to/tickets

As of March 16, 'Howl' is available from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full 'Heaving' LP, which is out on April 7, is now available for pre-order.

South Africa-German outfit Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys release 'Heaving', title track of coming fourth album

"With style and enigmatic poise... Kruger’s dreamy vocals spins visceral and poetic tales" ~ Texx and the City

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys present 'Heaving', the title track and third single from their forthcoming 'Heaving' album, following the recently-released lead tracks 'Burning Building' and 'Stereoscope'. The full-length album will be released in spring 2023 via Unique Records, a division of Schubert Music Europe.

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys are an art pop ambient noise band whose music is full of atmosphere and intensity. Based in Berlin, the group is fronted by South African-born Lucy Kruger. To encounter her music is to witness a singular journey of constant reflection that produces an ever-widening arc of creativity. This burning psychedelic folk is both intimate and energetic.

The song, which opens with a self-possessed pulse and a vocal sample that sits somewhere between a release and a reaching, pulls the listener into a distinct and surreal space - one that is both existential and immediate. There is a physicality to the sound that grounds the more elusive threads, in both sound and subject matter.

The accompanying film was created by Belgian director and motion designer Lena Nerinckx (the co-founder of Contour Collective) , and features Lucy Kruger and Lenny-Dee Doucha. Lena (who studied at both LUCA School Of Arts and Thomas More) uses film as a medium to translate thoughts and feelings into curving realms and surrealistic worlds through a focus on body language. A returning subject in her visual work is how emotions influence reality.

This piece is an intimate and intense duet between Lucy and an unknown but deeply present subject, seen and felt through a pair of hands. There is both effort and inevitability in the act of heaving and in this work. The body - both primal and performative - moves and is moved through a tender and quietly chaotic choreography. It opens its mouth and oozes. The distinction or boundary between the inside and the outside is blurred. It is both humanising and unsettling. The figure in motion, close up and dripping, becomes more landscape than limb. The video, filmed on Super 8 Reversal Film using a Canon Auto Zoom 814 camera, is beautifully stark - a visceral and compellingly uncomfortable exploration of intimacy.

In April 2022, the band released their third album in the 'Tapes Trilogy', signifying a relinquishing of control throughout the course of the three records in terms of both the sonic landscape and the stories brought to life through the lyrics. This song cycle began in 2019 with the band's debut album ‘Sleeping Tapes for Some Girls', followed by ‘Transit Tapes (for women who move furniture around)' in 2021 and the final 'Teen Tapes (for performing your own stunts)' in 2022.

As of February 16, the 'Heaving' single is available from fine music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The full 'Heaving' LP, which is out on April 7, is now available for pre-order.

The band, who have earned a reputation for their engaging and intense live performances, will be touring the album in Europe from April this year. They will play their album release show at Berlin's Lido on May 5. Concert tickets can be obtained at https://lklb.tourlink.to/tickets

Lucy Kruger & The Lost Boys present 'Burning Building', the second single from their forthcoming 'Heaving' LP, following their first offering 'Stereoscope', released at the end of 2022.

A spiky post-punk anthem for our time, this song is both more playful and more intense than the band's previous work. A chaotic and cathartic doomsday monologue, there is a change-up in tone, sound and subject matter multiple times within its short run-time. The opening groove feels like a dark cheerleading anthem that is soon subsumed by a doom-like rumble, over which Lucy spits a stream of consciousness.

There is a schizophrenic quality to the song, as if it’s been captured within the wrong groove and has to rush to find itself or to escape, hopefully spilling some moments of truth along the way. The first line in the second verse "I’m catwalking out of a Burning Building" brings up the feeling of masquerading in a situation that would be better suited to running.

Pursuing a slow, steady exploration of what it takes to make music that’s universal, that endures, that draws listeners in, even after countless listens, Lucy Krugar & the Lost Boys continue to explore live performance that drifts between introverted and ecstatic. They have performed at the likes of Rheeperbahn, Fusion, Maifeld Derby, Wave-Gotik Treffen, South of Silence, Immergut, Left of The Dial, and Synästhesie.

As of January 19, 'Burning Building' is available from fine music platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. On April 7, the full 'Heaving' LP will be released, followed by her album release show at Berlin's Lido on May 5. More tour dates kick off in February, running throughout spring.
