TSJUDER Announces New Album, Shares New Single + Music Video

Norwegian black metal legend TSJUDER is now unveiling the album details of its god defying new creation, 'Helvegr,' which will be released via Season of Mist on June 23, 2023! The album artwork, tracklist, and details can be found below! To celebrate this long-awaited release, the band is now sharing brutalizing new single, "Gods of Black Blood," along with a blistering new music video! The video, which was created by Guilherme Henriques, can be found below.

TSJUDER comments: "Today, 'Gods of Black Blood' from our forthcoming album 'Helvegr' is unleashed. This is raw Norwegian Black Metal! Choke on it!

The album will be released on various physical formats, such as cd digipack and coloured vinyl, but also limited edition clamshell box (cd) and LTD vinyl box. These limited editions come with a bonus album 'Scandinavian Black Metal Attack,' in which TSJUDER pays a special ode to Bathory.

Pre-orders for "Helvegr" are now available HERE while the album can be pre-saved HERE.

Since their inception in 1993, Oslo’s TSJUDER have been responsible for some of the most hate-filled ferocity perpetrated under the banner of TRUE NORWEGIAN BLACK METAL.

The band’s unholy fire was initially lit when founding members NAG (vocals/bass), BERSERK (guitar) and DRAUGLUIN (guitar) grew weary of playing death metal and sought out engorged levels of extremity to sate their increasingly profane ambitions. The time was ripe to inaugurate a ceaseless campaign committed to an uncompromising strain of brutally raw black metal, influenced by the primal thrash blasts of Sodom, Kreator, Destruction, Sarcófago and early Sepultura; black metal first wave trailblazers such as Bathory and Hellhammer; and, most vitally, Mayhem’s seminal Deathcrush, and Darkthrone’s game-changer, A Blaze in the Northern Sky.

Assuming the TSJUDER name, a moniker plundered from a mythical, murderous Northern tribe, various embryonic line-ups gathered around the all-conquering core of Nag and Draugluin, laying the fearsome foundations for what was to follow with two demos – Ved Ferdens Ende and Possessed – recorded between 1995-96. But it was with 1997’s EP, Throne of the Goat, that the black metal underground really began to sit up and take notice, the release establishing TSJUDER’s reputation as a blasphemous bulldozer hellbent on crushing the insipid and nostalgic in relentless blizzards of sub-zero riffage, punitive blast beats and blood-curdling screams.

Recordings for an inaugural full-length in 1999 were lost to a computer virus, but from the scavenged remnants of these sessions would emerge the Atum Nocturnem demo, an obnoxious foretaste of the group’s debut album, Kill For Satan, an international breakthrough slathered in slime-encrusted sacrilege. That damnable release saw the aptly-named ANTI-CHRISTIAN open his TSJUDER account, the drummer blasting a succession of gateways though the underworld, pulverising a punitive march to the band’s malevolent maelstroms.

Demonic Possession (2002) and Desert Northern Hell (2004) sustained the band’s focus on death, devils and destruction, while ratcheting up the production levels on a barbaric brace of flesh-strippers conjuring a landscape of frost-bitten wastes and foul abyssal realms. With the music press busy dishing out plaudits, the band’s burgeoning confederacy of fanatics were becoming desperate for some TSJUDER live action. Heeding the clarion, the band embarked on a full European tour with fellow countrymen Carpathian Forest. They also recorded a pair of gloriously powerful live performances in 2005, in Norway, which would subsequently be documented on the group’s NorwegianApocalypse DVD.

TSJUDER would take a deserved hiatus in 2006, with members finding other musical outlets for their creativity; Nag launching heretical black metal outfit KRYPT; Draugluin and Anti-Christian doing time with the thrashier TYRANN.

But it wouldn’t be long before the irresistible call of TSJUDER would exert itself once more. The band reconvened, reenergised and eager to make up for lost time, returning to live performances in 2010 before finally unleashing the mighty Legion Helvete (2011), a typically uncompromising comeback interspersed with pronounced Motörhead influences on punkish hyper-blasters such as ‘Slakt.'

It would be another four years before TSJUDER issued the merciless Antiliv(2015), a snarling lycanthropic howl of a record, heavy-loaded with vindictive black’n’roll swagger and lashings of buzzsaw guitar.

TSJUDER quickly set about creating the follow-up to Antiliv, but musical differences and protracted disputes led to a parting of the ways, with Anti-Christian bowing out after an impressive 20-year tenure with the group. Undaunted, Nag and Draughluin enlisted doyen tub-thumper JON RICE to provide the requisite drum artillery and continued to work on new recordings – fine-tuning guitar tones and sharpening mixes.

Then COVID-19 struck, the pandemic further stymieing the album’s release as the world tumbled from its fragile axis. But humanity is now benignly settling into its most chronic phase of perpetual abnormality and TSJUDER are steeled again to hoist their inverted cross above the barricades of conciliation. Their latest opus, Helvegr, is a devastatingly savage offering, one which fully adheres to the band’s eternal credo of “NO FUCKING COMPROMISE."

Introducing NONEXISTER! Band Shares Video For "Your Pain Up My Veins"

NONEXISTER thrive on the interplay of electronic energy and heavy catharsis. As if soundtracking an after-hours club at the end of the world, the Zurich, Switzerland band — Marco Neeser [electronics, songwriting, production], Nik Leuthold [vocals, songwriting, production], Reto "Fu" Gaffuri [bass], Siro Müller [drums, backing vocals], and Silvan Gerhard [guitar, backing vocals] — are like a pendulum swinging from moments of industrial ecstasy to moshpit-ready fits.

The first single "Your Pain Up My Veins" boasts a chugging guitar riff with a head-nodding beat and goth-inspired loops. Nik howls and wails as if awakening from a cryogenic freeze with a lust for control on his tongue.

Watch the video here.

"It describes the phenomenon of power as a drug," Nik says. "The frenzy of power is a very human phenomenon on one hand, we all know it at least a little from our own lives. Already there it can cause a lot of harm. But in bigger scales, it's quite dystopic for the world. And it's quite common, mainly among rabble-rousers and potentates. Often when things in the foreground are driven by ideology, it's just comes down to ego. I'm just trying to explain this from the point-of-view of a junkie for trampling others to uplift himself."

"This track — which was the first song we ever made — became a blueprint for NONEXISTER," Marco goes on. "It builds up to this wall of sound, but you still can hear the melodies within."

As for the accompanying visual, Nik explains, "The video by Elias Ressegatti is an artistic exaggeration, a metaphor of the song's topic of abusing power as a drug. The main creature breeds new creatures from her own flesh in a kind of archaic incubator, in ecstatic frenzy. Then she feeds them and her old self to her own perfect replica, which walks out as the new and better version of herself. We understand that the cycle will begin again in not too much time, and again, and again... She walks literally over dead bodies for her satisfaction and alimentation."

In similar fashions, co-founders Marco and Nik drew on dynamic and distinct backgrounds at the onset of the project. Marco, the electronic maverick, honed his creativity and stage presence in the likes of Swandive, Division Kent, me.man.machine., and Glitter Wasteland, gracing the stages of major festivals and cities across Europe. Meanwhile, Nik powered the punk upstarts Catchpole, and he voices one of the robots of groundbreaking robot band COMPRESSORHEAD, for which John Wright (frontman of the Hanson Brothers and drummer for the legendary No Means No), writes the music and is the voice of the robot singer.

Simultaneously, he has entrenched himself in Switzerland's dynamic subculture scene and fostering the launch of initiatives, such as independent cultural and political radio force Radio Stadtfilter.

Given the intimate nature of their hometown's music community, Nik and Marco crossed paths many times through the years. After grabbing a drink one evening, they decided to collaborate in the studio, giving rise to NONEXISTER.

The duo wrote and recorded under-the-radar. They recorded at New Sound Studio with producer Tommy Vetterli —renowned as mastermind of Coroner and member of legendary thrashers Kreator. He added another dimension to recording with production, guitar alongside Jonas Wolf, and contributing adlibs.

The two artists went into Marco's home studio and began writing songs for the first NONEXISTER album. They mostly produced these before teaming up at New Sound Studio with producer Tommy Vetterli, known as the mastermind of Coroner and a member of legendary thrashers Kreator, who added another dimension to the production. Vetterli also composed the backings with Nik and contributed some adlibs. It was also Vetterli who brought the two together with guitarist Jonas Wolf, who played most of the guitars on the album, but has since handed over the guitar on NONEXISTER to his friend Silvan Gerhard in favor of the role of musical director with Eluveitie.

DEATHSTARS present lyric video for "Angel Of Fortune And Crime"

The tension rises! The world´s biggest and undeniably best outfit sitting somewhere between the realms of industrial and rock/metal – DEATHSTARS - have released an atmospheric, fierce new track in the lead-up to their eagerly awaited new album Everything Destroys You, which will be released on May 5th via Nuclear Blast.

Following two extremely successful singles - ´This Is´ and ´Midnight Party´- the band presents us with an amazing lyric video for the dark anthem ´Angel Of Fortune And Crime´.

Frontman Whiplasher Bernadotte comments on the song: "For me, this song has pretty clear and present Deathstars-DNA, but with some new bloodlines in it… I mean it’s a pretty straightforward groovy jet-black tune, but with a certain vocal melody in the latter part to break the pattern completely. Almost like a piece of darkness with some hope to it, but without the hope of course, haha."

MISCREANCE Announces Re-issue of 'Convergence'

Old school technical death metal revivalists MISCREANCE will be reissuing their debut album, 'Convergence,' via Season of Mist on May 19, 2023! The album was originally self-released by the Italian newcomers in in September 2022. For a taste of what to expect, listen to the single 'Incubo' below.

The band comments: "Beyond the apparent quietness of sleeping, unspeakable horrors and repugnant creatures will mold your fears into your worst 'INCUBO.'
Relieve all the monstrosities buried deep inside your mind, into a frenzied dance of riffs, screams and absurd rhythms from the underworld."

'Convergence' will be re-released on three different colored vinyl as well as CD formats. The record is now available for pre-order HERE while you can stream it across all digital platforms HERE.

Though many have tried, few bands have successfully replicated the mind-bending technical death metal formula that was established during the genre’s advent by the Godfathers of DEATH. That is until Italy’s Miscreance entered the ring in 2022 with its debut full-length, ‘Convergence.’ Unlike tech death contemporaries who are known for speed and extremity, Miscreance artistry lies within its carefully executed precision, underscoring the focused discipline behind the music’s eloquent complexities.

Miscreance is a project reborn from the ashes of Atomic Massacre. As the former band's members decided to change the course of their stylistic direction, they felt it was time for a rebirth, changing the name as well. In 2018, the band released its first demo, 'From Awareness to Creation,' which was originally co-produced by Red Wine Rites records in Switzerland and limited strictly to 100 copies.

Shortly after the demo release, the band ceased their search for a singer upon realizing that drummer Andrea F. was exactly what they were looking for, so they exhumed three songs from the pre-demo era and recorded a split with death metal grind-crushers Vile Apparition (AUS), released in late 2021.

In 2022, Miscreance made its debut with its first full-length, ‘Convergence,’ which took almost five years to complete. The offering quickly garnered the attention of Season of Mist, who formed a union with the emerging band and is now reissuing the full-length for worldwide distribution as the old school tech death revivalists prepare to unleash a sophomore offering onto the masses.

WORM SHEPHERD Drop Stand Alone Single; "The Frozen Lake Pt II (The Ruined)"

Symphonic deathcore titans, Worm Shepherd, have released stand alone single, "The Frozen Lake Pt II (The Ruined)" today. Accompanying the 8 minute masterpiece is an epic music video which can be watched below. Stream the track on your platform of choice HERE.

Speaking on the new release, vocalist Devin Duarte shares

“The Frozen Lake Pt. II (The Ruined) is about forgiveness of self. We live in a world where perfection is expected of everyone at all times. No one is perfect whether they want to admit it or not and we all would be doing ourselves better to stop running from and ignoring all of these imperfections and mistakes. Once people learn to accept the reality of their humanity, we can start to focus on working through those mistakes, learning new lessons, and being better people overall. That’s what it’s about. Stop putting on a show. Stop being ashamed of yourself. Before there is no more you to speak of.

Be true to yourselves, and understanding of those around you. That is how learning, and improving is done.”

HOST Release Sprawling Ambient Remix Of "Hiding From Tomorrow" By LUSTMORD

Contemporary dark wave project HOST, launched by Nick Holmes and Greg Mackintoshof PARADISE LOST, have released a sprawling ambient remix of 'Hiding From Tomorrow' by LUSTMORD. The remix follows the recent release of the bands debut albumIX.

Greg Mackintosh comments "Lustmord has taken this track from electro goth into a whole new territory. I love it when a remix drifts far and wide from it's source material and he has certainly done that. He has created a sprawling, emotive, cinematic soundscape"

Stream 'Hiding From Tomorrow (Lustmord Remix)' on all platforms now at: https://HOST.bfan.link/HFT-LMR.ema

Purchase IX on various formats now from: https://bfan.link/host-ix.ema

About HOST
The origins of HOST do not trace back to the 1999 PARADISE LOST album bearing the same name but instead to the West Yorkshire music clubs of the mid-to-late 1980s. WhileHolmes and Mackintosh were already certified heavy metal fanatics (“metal thrashing mad” as Holmes equates), they were equally drawn to the New Wave and Goth music scenes. The pounding rhythms, sublime melodies and undercurrent of darkness drew them in, creating immediate earworms and a desire to delve further.

Mackintosh finally put plans into motion during the pandemic for a venture that would merge his penchant for sound design with the moods and atmosphere of 1980s dance-pop and Goth. The project was originally a solo pursuit until he asked Holmes, his longtime PARADISE LOST songwriting partner, to join. 'HOST' was selected as the name as a tip of the hat to the aforementioned album that found PARADISE LOST in an unprecedented period of experimentation that eschewed their metal roots and also challenged their fanbase in ways like never before.

“We always stood by 'Host' as an album,” says Mackintosh. “This project is not totally connected to that album, but some of the ideas are extrapolated. We’re taking the basic premise and trying it out now. And, really, it was something fun and interesting for us to do. We’ve been doing PARADISE LOST for a long time and got an itch to try something different from where PL is now. I could take PL down this route again. Who knows? It may happen if we live long enough, but I thought, ‘Why not now?’ I had the time to do it.”

DEFIANT Releases New Single "Ignite the Sky" + Official Music Video via Curtain Call Records

"Ignite the Sky" can be bought/streamed at:

https://linktr.ee/defiantpa

Defiant released their latest single "Ignite the Sky" to all major platforms via Curtain Call Records along with the official music video. The single was produced, mixed and mastered at Atrium Audio in Lititz, Pa. The band is set to release their third EP in 2023.

“Fat Man, Little Boy, Nukes, The Atomic Bomb. On July 16,1945 humanity had to ask themselves whether their scientific curiosity had gone beyond that of man, and transcend into an apocalyptic cataclysm of hellfire. Defiant's newest single brings forward a harrowing perspective of man's most powerful weapon, and it's involuntary desire to lay waste to all it's nuclear hands touched. The aggressive vocals and hard pounding groove of "Ignite The Sky" brings the essential punk onslaught Defiant is more than happy to give to your precious ears. For a hundred minds and a thousand hours gave God's power to human hands.," says the band.

Boldly resisting authority…like the definition of its name, Curtain Call Records recording artist Defiant has set out to ignore any rules or standards in hard rock music. The 4-piece band from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania infuses elements of punk, alternative, classic rock and heavy metal to form its own unique brand of music.

Formed in 2018, Defiant has built a reputation with their high octane live shows playing on bills throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region with the likes of From Ashes to New, The Texas Hippie Coalition, Kix, L.A. Guns, Buckcherry, Puddle of Mudd, Tantric and Otep among others.

The band is comprised of Albert Halterman (vocals and guitar), Joe Defiant (guitar), Paul Barlowski (bass) and Paul Cochran (drums).

The band is available for interviews!

Blues-Rock Superstar Joe Bonamassa Releases Stunningly Sweeping Live Rendition Of “Time Clocks”

Bonamassa’s Groundbreaking Live Performance From The Iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre Is Available Worldwide 4/14 Via J&R Adventures

Stream “Time Clocks” live here

On the heels of his sold out music festival cruise Keeping The Blues Alive at Sea VIII, the three-time GRAMMY-nominated guitarist and 25x Billboard chart-topper Joe Bonamassa has just released an unforgettable live rendition of “Time Clocks,” the beautifully poignant title track of his most recent studio album. Featured on ‘Tales of Time,’ his sprawling and expansive live concert film and album shot at the breathtaking Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, the epic 7+ performance finds the blues-rock superstar at his most expressive and ambitious, casting a spell of pure timelessness over the enraptured crowd. As the heart on sleeve narrative plays out in front of a stunning visual backdrop that served to highlight the beauty of the music, the rousing chorus rises to the heavens as Bonamassa sings, “and the rain soaking through my coat, about to capsize my boat I push it along away from the docks, I was never a good puncher of time clocks.” Watch the live performance Below.

Out 4/14 via Bonamassa’s J&R Adventures in CD/DVD, CD/BR, vinyl, and digital formats, ‘Tales Of Time’ captures a stratospheric performance by the blues-rock titan, as his virtuoso guitar style and unique technique and flair elevate the evening to an almost heavenly high. This incredible undertaking was produced by long-time collaborator and producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Journey). “This live show represents our most progressive and largest production to date, focusing on my most ambitious studio album to date,” commented Bonamassa. “My band was a force of nature on this show, and it truly was a special night.” For more information and to pre-order, visit https://shop.jbonamassa.com/collections/tot

Bonamassa has just announced a handful of additional performances for 2023. Starting with the Capitol Theatre in Yakima, WA on Friday, May 26th, Bonamassa will wind his way across the west, culminating in a performance at the iconic Red Rock Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on August 6th. Capping the summer with a previously announced two-night run with Styx and Don Felder in the northeast, Bonamassa will round out the year with performances at the Hertz Arena in Ft. Myers, FL on Friday, December 1st and Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, FL on Saturday, December 2nd. Tickets are available now at https://jbonamassa.com/tour-dates/.

Cited by Guitar World as “arguably the world’s biggest blues guitarist,” Bonamassa is known for taking risks and venturing into uncharted territory throughout his wide-ranging career. His most recent full-length ‘Time Clocks’ marked his most raw, rocking studio album yet, with American Songwriter sharing, “Bonamassa pushes into fresh territory while staying within a blues-based framework,” and “there is more than enough proof in this sprawling set that Bonamassa doesn’t intend to rest on his laurels or take his star status in the blues-rock genre for granted.”

About Joe Bonamassa
Blues-rock superstar Joe Bonamassa is one of the most celebrated performing musicians today. A three-time GRAMMY-nominee, Bonamassa earned his 25th No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart, with his latest studio album ‘Time Clocks.

Bonamassa earned his third GRAMMY nomination with 2020’s ‘Royal Tea,’ recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios. The album brought Bonamassa full circle: reconnecting the guitar-slinging kid who stumbled across the best of British-blues in his dad’s vinyl collection to the player he is today. That same year, Bonamassa delivered a groundbreaking live performance from the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, where he played ‘Royal Tea’ in its entirety to over tens of thousands of people across the globe via livestream, recording the full set for the live concert film and album ‘Now Serving: Royal Tea Live From The Ryman,’ released in 2021.

Bonamassa also runs Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation, a non-profit that promotes music education and blues music by funding scholarships and providing music education resources to schools in need. To date, the foundation has provided schools and teachers with over $1 Million and has positively impacted 90,000 students in all 50 states.

Created by Bonamassa and Roy Weisman, Keeping The Blues Alive Records (KTBA Records) has released albums for many artists, including musical icon Dion’s ‘Blues With Friends,’ Chicago Queen of Guitar Joanna Connor’s ‘4801 South Indiana Avenue’ and British Blues-Rock star Joanne Shaw Taylor’s ‘Blues From The Hear Live,’ all of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Blues Charts, while Blues-legend Larry McCray’s ‘Blues Without You’ debuted at No. 2. Bonamassa plans to produce and release more artists on KTBA Records this year.

Journeyman LLC, the newest endeavor between Bonamassa and his long-time manager Roy Weisman, is a vertically integrated music management, concert promotion, and marketing company that builds awareness for great live artists worldwide. After years of perfecting strategies, while building Joe Bonamassa’s career, the company will utilize the same savvy tactics which allowed them to overcome industry barriers that typically held back artists from achieving success. Bonamassa has been keen on using his experience to pay it forward to help other artists navigate the murky industry waters. Consequently, Journeyman sets itself apart in this way as being the true market maker for its artists.

ONErpm Nashville is proud to announce the signing of vocalist and songwriter Jesslee. Her debut single, “Unmeet You,” is now available on all platforms and the official YouTube video for the single premiered yesterday. Watch Below.

Tim Wipperman, managing director for ONErpm Nashville, says “Jesslee is a phenomenal singer. Her powerful vocals are unparalleled, coupled with the fact that she is one of the best new writers in town.”

“As an Italian American artist,” Jesslee says, “I am so excited to be working with a company that embraces my uniqueness and is dedicated to working with artists to develop something wonderful together.”

Jesslee—who appeared for 45 consecutive weeks on Apple Music’s Country Hot Tracks—first burst onto the music scene in 2018 by turning two chairs and ultimately joining coach Blake Shelton’s team on season 14 of NBC’s The Voice. That performance led to several more national television appearances and, ultimately, songwriting opportunities. Jesslee soon moved to Nashville and continued developing her craft with an elite group of artists and writers. “Unmeet You” was written with her manager, Steve Virginia, and fellow Voice alums, The Swon Brothers.

“She is a one-of-a-kind artist,” affirms Virginia, CEO of Black Label Nash Entertainment. “Jesslee crafts every song with a genuine passion that naturally pulls the listener in,” noting that “She has a way of staying true to the story while doing what is best musically for the song.”

“The responses and comments from her fans are filled with touching stories about how she makes a difference in so many lives,” remarks Ryan Cunningham, A&R director of Country Music for ONErpm, adding, “This is exactly what music is supposed to do.”

2023 is looking like a breakout year for Jesslee, with a brand-new record deal and several national and international dates on the books. She has already shared the stage with high-profile country artists such as Thomas Rhett, Dierks Bentley, Cole Swindell, Cam, Kane Brown, LOCASH, RaeLynn, Uncle Kracker, Wynonna Judd, Joe Nichols, Thompson Square, Parmalee, Cassadee Pope and Craig Campbell.

ROB MUNK presents 'Run!' - a high-energy treat from his debut 'Phased Out' LP, out now via Magic Door Record Label

"A crunchy blast of indie rock bliss that’s redolent with laconic charm and unexpected longing. Bringing to mind everyone from Built To Spill to Australia’s late great Soap Star Joe...  as dynamic and hook-laden as it gets" ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

"Sassy power-pop... the same blend of jaunt and joyfulness and slightly downbeat and world-weariness running through their music as, say, The Lemonheads or The Dandy Warhols. Not to mention no small amount of early R.E.M. wonky majesty" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Enjoyable, danceable, moshable – timeless in the same way as Pixies and Throwing Muses will never seem old. But Munk’s music itself is perhaps closer to Sebadoh, Sparklehorse, The Shins, Fastball, Weezer or Presidents of the USA" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Munk’s an idealistic singer/songwriter with great guitar and vocal chops, not to mention stellar songwriting skills" ~ Popular Culture Beat

New Jersey-based indie rocker Rob Munk presents the video for 'Run',
a fun upbeat offering for the ears and spirit. The accompanying video was written and directed by Iam Williams with animation and editing by lincktendo.

the latest single from his debut album 'Phased Out', released both digitally and on vinyl via Montclair-based Magic Door Record Label. a grassroots imprint founded by Guided by Voices' Kevin March, producer Ray Ketchem and artist-vocalist Renée LoBue.

"Run! Is about sprinting through life with reckless abandon, so it only makes sense that the video feell like an 80’s style 8-bit video game, both nostalgic and fun. Run! is the perfect springtime anthem for those ready to get outside, smash some bottles on the street and really blossom,” says Rob Munk.

Munk comes back with a strong return after 20+ years since Munk left the music scene at the turn of the century. Now available on limited edition 12" fully recycled colored vinyl, supporters will also receive the digital download upon purchase. This collection, which Munk calls "a little poppy, a little sloppy and entirely honest", features better and more personal songs than ever before.

This album was produced, recorded, mastered and partially mixed at Magic Door Recording by Ray Ketchem, whose production credits include Guided By Voices, Gramercy Arms, Luna and Elk City. Mixed in Oakland by Chuck Johnson at Cirrus Oxide, Munk recorded this album during the pandemic with actor-writer-artist Daniel London (Old Joy, Minority Report, Manhattan) and Tinsel drummer Joe Ventura.

"Phased Out is now officially out in the world, ready to begin its slow trudge towards obsolescence or meteoric rise to greatness, depending on the listener. The journey truly has been the reward, and it’s been so creatively rewarding. As it turns out, it takes a village to make a solo record, and I have immeasurable gratitude towards the village people that helped make this real," says Rob Munk.

Earlier, Munk released the singles 'Youth', 'Amazon', 'Slumber' 'Heavy Shoes (to kill the blues)' and 'Ghosts of San Francisco'. With elements of 1990’s and 2000's indie rock and traces of 1970’s AM pop, this is music that respects people's emotional intelligence.

Munk's foray into show business began as an actor in commercials (including Jello pudding with Bill Cosby) and movies (cast as young Woody Allen in 'Stardust Memories'). At 14, he jumped ship on acting to form a band and his life changed. His band Thudpucker was a staple on the 1990s Boston rock (opening for Pavement, Hole, Afghan Whigs and Juliana Hatfield) and later formed Tinsel in Chapel Hill, NC (supporting the likes of Polvo, Guided By Voices, Pipe and Come), plus cover bands with Superchunk and Firehose members. These bands eventually imploded of natural rock and roll causes.

Munk eventually returned to acting, including scenes with Tina Fey, Tony Hale, John Goodman and Paul Giammatti. After moving to LA for a pilot season but getting no traction there, Rob launched the now-defunct blog 'LoserActor', creatively chronicling his daily humiliation. Noticed by the famed ad agency Wieden + Kennedy, Rob returned to NYC as a copywriter and creative director, writing huge campaigns for ESPN, Delta Airlines and AT&T.

The 'Phased Out' LP is available now on vinyl via Bandcamp and everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify and other fine outlets.

A CLOUD OF RAVENS brooding 'Parable' video previews 'Lost Hymns' LP (out April 28).

“Their sound, though inspired by bands of their youth, is not rooted stubbornly in the past - their music feels of this time, with their messages transversing the cosmos” ~ Post-Punk.com

"Sonic luxuriance... racing at full velocity with tight-fisted riffs, cutting exactitude and danceability... a healthy reminder of the original and timeless allure of the post-punk sound and scene" ~ The Spill Magazine

“A Cloud of Ravens impress not only for the dark poetry, which forms and develops in the band’s lyrics and expands in their alluring titles, but the duo also rivet through their gritty and immediate sonic scheme, which feels pitch dark and hard as nails”Destroy // Exist

"A perfect blend of an homage to the past and the modern construction of the future. A heroic journey through a desolate land" ~ Sounds and Shadows

“They play cold wave, they play post-punk, they are Gothic and they set to music some of the most striking lyrics you can find” ~ White Light // White Heat

NYC-based postpunk duo A Cloud of Ravens has released 'Parable',  the final taster of their much anticipated 'Lost Hymns' LP with a new video that is as foreboding as the lyrics. Recorded from spring to autumn 2021 and mastered by ACTORS' Jason Corbett at his Jacknife Sound studio, this collection of 11 tracks will be released via Nexilis Records / Schubert Music Europe on April 28.

'Parable' is a foreboding tale that comes following 'Requiem For The Sun', which casts a hopeful eye towards the light in a rich frenetic jaunt through the multiple facets of darkness we are all so eager to leave. Earlier, the duo previewed 'Nature of Artifice' and 'The Blackest Mantra'.

Formed in 2018 by Matthew McIntosh (guitar and vocals) and Beth Narducci (bass guitar), the Brooklyn-based duo emerged on the burgeoning dark music scene with a series of self-released offerings that garnered attention that led to their 2021 album 'Another Kind of Midnight', a mournful yet triumphant collection exploring the heart of a world amidst a devastating pandemic and torn by moral tribalism.

"In some ways, 'Parable' channels Einstein’s definition of insanity, which is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result," says Matthew McIntosh.

"Though dense in metaphor, 'Parable' is asking - how dire do things need to get in this world for us to realize, as a society and culturally, that maybe something needs to shift as far as how we honor each other, the futility of war, and how we treat the environment? We’ve got one planet, and we’re on it together whether we like it or not. Doesn’t the path of least resistance ultimately make the most sense?"

Effectively merging classic and contemporary post-punk and darkwave sensibilities, their somewhat poetic use of prose and metaphor expressed the trials and joys of the world in which we now find ourselves. A Cloud of Ravens' subsequent remix-based EP featured contributions by legendary producer John Fryer and such prominent artists as Clan of Xymox, ACTORS, Chris Vrenna and Ritual Howls.

Growing up in a family of avid music lovers and her mother being a professional opera single, McIntosh arrived at this genre of music after ample explorations in the punk, death rock and hardcore scenes, finally forging the duo's trademark sound with Narducci, whose background is more connected with alternative rock and industrial music, as well as professionally supporting fellow musicians in the A&R field.

'Parable' is out now, available across digital outlets, including Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and Bandcamp. In support of the 'Lost Hymns' album, A Cloud of Ravens will launch a European tour with Then Comes Silence in April-May, followed by North American dates with Clan of Xymox and Curse Mackey in May-June.

CLOAK Premieres Crushing New Single, "Seven Thunders"

Blackened heavy metal masters CLOAK are now unveiling the crushing new single, "Seven Thunders," which is taken from their upcoming third full-length, 'Black Flame Eternal!' The song can be found along with a lyric video, which was created by CLOAK frontman Scott Taysom.

Cloak comments:
"The Lord thundered from Heaven; the voice of the Most High resounded amid the hail and burning coals.”

"A song based more in religious mythology and tradition, 'Seven Thunders' is a tale of the end times."

CLOAK is following up 2019's 'The Burning Dawn,' which was named one of the Best Albums of the year by Metal Insider (#6), A&P Reacts (#8), Treble Zine (#11), and others.

'Black Flame Eternal' is due on May 26, 2023 and can be pre-saved across all streaming services HERE and pre-ordered HERE.

CLOAK will be performing a hometown album release performance, which will take place place at The Earl in Atlanta, GA on June 10!

Prior to that, the band will be performing at the Carolina Chainsaw Massacre Fest II in Greensboro, NC on May 6 followed by an appearance at the inaugural Hell in the Harbor festival, which takes place the weekend of the album's release in Baltimore, MD. All dates and tickets can be found below!

“The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.” - Rudyard Kipling

In an era that is designed to beat down and weaken the individual, Black Flame Eternal is an album that represents strength, empowerment, and total opposition. With mounting pressure to engage in modern societal tribalism, Cloak invokes a spiritual rebellion that exists beyond good and evil with album number three.

“All of our albums are created with a spiritual focus, dealing with how we see life, death, and everything in between. I think the earlier records dealt more with the mysteries that surrounded delving deeper into the world of dark spirituality, whereas the new material has taken what we’ve learned and used it to move forward with force,” says Cloak frontman Scott Taysom of the record’s underlying philosophy. “Black Flame Eternal is a statement of spiritual empowerment in every sense. For the first time we want people to grasp on to this sentiment, instead of keeping it completely personal within our world of Cloak. The themes and the sheer power can be felt much more within the songs that this album contains."

“Our goal is complete spiritual liberation, which is where true power and freedom exists,” he adds. “We’ve reached a point in history where people are forced to pick a side or to join a team, so to speak. Cloak stands in complete opposition to this. We aim to be a giant middle finger in the face of the empty modern world.”

While Cloak might rage against societal conventions, the Atlanta quartet embraces the rebellious and time-tested traditions of heavy metal. Whether it be the conjuring the chaotic spirit of Swedish black metal purveyors Watain and Dissection, summoning the deep, dark and sensual groove of Danzig, or evoking the raw speed and raucous energy of Motörhead, the influence of metal’s founding fathers is deep within Cloak’s DNA. Cloak’s charm, however, does not merely lie within its romanticism of the past, but rather is the way each of these genres has shaped Cloak’s own personal identity. And with Black Flame Eternal, the record sees Cloak continue to strengthen its own unique established sound.

Cloak recognizes the importance of a band’s third record, with Taysom explaining, “These influences will always be important to us, as they are some of the best and most important bands of our time. On the other hand, what is so special about getting to the third record of our career is that inspiration starts to move inwards. We had enough experience and material at this point to really know what we do best and how we can utilize these skills in the best way possible. If you look at some of the most iconic bands, their third albums were massive steps towards greatness. So to us, we feel our third record will be a very important one in our time as a band.”

The Atlantan’s evolution is evident in the fury displayed on Black Flame Eternal, which flawlessly compliments the grandiose melodic atmosphere. “This was a conscious effort. Early on before the album even started, I knew it was going to be a much more aggressive and powerful album. I wanted to take a step away from certain sounds and add a bit of brutality back in. The overall vibe matches who we are much more, so it was only fitting to move towards this sound. It almost feels like we are going back to our roots as people in certain ways,” explains Taysom.

Black Flame Eternal follows up sophomore effort The Burning Dawn, which was released in November 2019, with hell unleashing its fury on the globe just a few short months later. As plans to tour the new album around the world came to a screeching halt, the band did not stagger or falter, and instead used this gift of time to write. When reflecting upon the lost years and its impact, Taysom seemingly embraces the situation with little regrets, “Considering Cloak is a sacred space for us, these exterior things did not have as much of an impact as one might think. But it was impossible to ignore some of what was going on throughout these tumultuous years. It’s bound to affect people’s personal lives and the way the mind works during these interesting times. One thing that it did greatly affect was the fact that we could not promote The Burning Dawn properly after the one U.S. tour we did with 1349. We feel this hurt the record, but there was nothing we could do. We were one of the earliest out of the gate after venues started to open back up, and we’ve been continuing to tour in promotion of that album all the way up until now.”

Cloak utilized every minute of this time to focus on fully realizing its vision for Black Flame Eternal. “The initial stage of the writing process started in January of 2020, and lasted all the way until May 2021. It was the longest spanning album process for us so far, with many long days, nights, and weeks trying to piece the songs together the best we could.” While the record did not come together swiftly or easily, the care and attention put into its creation is evident in its powerful composition.

Making up for lost time, these road warriors have already embarked on several high profile North American tours since the autumn of 2021, commanding audiences in every major city with their chaos magick. Each performance merges the spirit of black metal with the backbone of rock ‘n’ roll as the band consistently delivers a blistering set from start to finish. Taysom describes Cloak’s live approach as “a mixture of ethereal atmosphere and total abrasive chaos. The mixture of these two opposing energies is where Cloak lies; the meeting of high and low. To us, this is where the most interesting moments happen, both emotionally and physically.”

With no borders or boundaries, Cloak is ready to embark on this new chapter as the leader of its own pack. The band bows to no one, forging its own path as one of the governing metal forces of this decade as ‘Black Flame Eternal’ promises to scorch the earth and leave its hallowed mark.

Alternative rock band To Kill Achilles have shared the video for the new single "Rats," out now via Arising Empire.

Watch the video below. Stream the track here.

"Rats" is an antithesis of previous material, and for far too long, the band told the story of mental degradation without hope. Becoming completely drained repeating the same lines of how it hurts to be here, this new material deals with courage, control, acceptance, and ultimately the end goal that anyone in this circumstance seeks — the other side. This is the journey of getting better, taking control of your life, and the experiences around you.

The band previously released Something To Remember Me By back in 2020. Listen here

To Kill Achilles have extensively toured across the UK, the majority of Europe and Russia with bands such as We Came As Romans, Counterparts, While She SLeeps, I Killed The Prom Queen, Betraying The Martyrs, and many more.

The Amity Affliction Announce "Not Without My Ghosts" Album + Share "It's Hell Down Here" Video

Australian metalcore trailblazers THE AMITY AFFLICTION — Joel Birch[vocals], Ahren Stringer [vocals, bass], Dan Brown [lead guitar], and Jon Longobardi [drums] — have announced their new album Not Without My Ghosts, out May 12 via Pure Noise. Pre-order it here or here.

To celebrate the news, the band has shared the video for "It's Hell Down Here." Watch it here.
The track address mortality — a topic frequented several times on the album. It also boasts the vocal dynamics and pummeling breakdowns that are the band's signatures.

"This song is a a letter from myself and Ahren, written by me, to our friends who have passed on to the other side," Birch shares.

He continues, "I'm 41. I'm bipolar. And I'm pretty tired of it. That's where lyrics like 'Like a snake I tire / the cold dark clouds, they steal my light' come from. The song is wrapping up how I feel daily, and reflecting on the time leading up to my friend killing himself. I'm sure a lot of people who have experienced that guilt at not seeing what becomes glaringly obvious after the fact."

The album boasts multiple features — something the band has not incorporated into a release in quite some time — including late New Zealand rapper Louie Knuxx, who passed away in 2021, as well as Comeback Kid's Andrew Neufeld, The Plot in You's Landon Tewers, and Phem.

The Amity Affliction will also appear at several festivals this year, including Louder Than Life in September and Aftershock in October.

THE FLOWERS OF HELL presents 'Foray Through Keshakhtaran' ahead of sixth studio album + Record Store Day ‘Odes’ deluxe LP

“So beautiful and great. Exquisite” ~ Lou Reed on Sirius/BBC6

“They take orchestral pop to the next level” ~ Rolling Stone

“Stirringly evocative” ~ NME

“They balance stately chamber pop with noise” ~ Pitchfork

Toronto-London based experimental group The Flowers Of Hell have announced that they will release their new album 'Keshakhtaran' via UK cult label Space Age Recordings (home to Spacemen 3, as well as Spectrum, Chapterhouse, Acid Mothers Temple and The Telescopes). Ahead of this, they present ‘Foray Through Keshakhtaran’, the first taste of the trans-Atlantic group’s first studio album in six years.

A tripped out instrumental journey in two 20-minute parts, this record involves 20 artists, including special guests Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone, Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Black Angels, Beck) on sitar, Montreal harpist Sarah Pagé, and NYC avant-accordion legend Angel Corpus Christi (Suicide, Spiritualized, Dean Wareham). Produced by the band’s leader and composer Greg Jarvis, this album was mastered by Grammy recipient Peter J. Moore (Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Joe Strummer).

'Keshakhtaran', which is an urban dictionary term for "seeking nirvana through meditation to sound, especially when you're stoned," is suitably named. The album presents a 42-minute instrumental psilocybin meditation piece in two parts, rooted in sax, flugel horn, chimes, harp, sitar and opera soprano vocals, augmented with tremolos, flutters, horns, woodwinds, strings and percussion.

For the past 18 years, The Flowers Of Hell have traversed the experimental edges of indie, classical and jazz, with music often rooted in the audio-visual synesthesia of the group’s mastermind, Greg Jarvis. Despite relatively obscurity, they have been championed by music legends such as Lou Reed, Sonic Boom, Kevin Shields and members of The Legendary Pink Dots, Death In Vegas, The Wedding Present, The Fugs and The Plastic People Of The Universe, not to mention support from NASA’s mission control team and the Tate Gallery with an album installation and concert just a fortnight before London locked down.

“Keshakhtaran began as a 40 minute ‘space guitar’ piece I’d done out of bits and bobs I’d been playing in my home studio for a girlfriend to meditate to in the months before Covid. During the pandemic, I found I couldn’t write anything new (nothing in, nothing out), but I pulled out the guitar track and started sending it to caged up band members and friends to add layers to, and soon I was mixing and editing away, creating a sonic world to escape off into,” says Greg Jarvis.

“With massages being some of the only human contact allowed in Toronto at the time and with one of my bandmates being a masseuse, I’d go in and test the mixes while over-micro dosing on mushrooms for a truly immersive experience that transported me from the bleak times. I’d then play the work-in-progress for bandmates in my ‘semi outdoor contact’ garage that I’d converted into a psychedelic shack with a lightshow and a fog machine, tweaking things until it reached its final form that you’ll hear”.

For Record Store Day (UK), Space Age Recordings will also release a deluxe first vinyl LP pressing of The Flowers Of Hell’s ‘Odes’ album, originally released in 2012. This is a collection of orchestral pop arrangements of some of Jarvis’ favourite songs, which Laurie Anderson and Lou Reed ended up hearing and loving, with Reed also supporting The Flowers by premiering it on his final radio show.

Fortunate enough to have learned directly from the likes of Malcolm McLaren, David Bowie, Jason Pierce (Spiritualized), The Moody Blues, Liz Mitchell (Boney M) and Ivan Kral (Patti Smith Group) while working in the music business, Greg Jarvis formed the Flowers Of Hell in 2005 – a time when London only had two bi-monthly club nights (Sonic Cathedral and AC30) where it was possible to play The Flowers’ kind of ‘Velvets meets Spacemen 3 meets classical’ music. Since relocating to his hometown Toronto, subsequent albums and tours have involved musicians from both continents.

'Foray Through Keshakhtaran' is available across digital platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. The full ‘Keshakhtaran’ LP will be released digitally on May 12th with the vinyl LP (including an inserted bonus CD featuring a reworking of the piece by Sonic Boom) to follow in late 2023. In the meantime, get the deluxe 'Odes' album on vinyl on Record Store Day (April 22) in the UK,to be made available two weeks later for the rest of the world.
