NE OBLIVISCARIS Shares New Live Video for "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope"

Progressive metal outfit NE OBLIVISCARIS is now sharing a brand new live video for its seminal song, "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope," which was recorded in Melbourne (AU) on May 10, 2019 at 170 Russell. The clip is taken from an upcoming 'Live in Melbourne' Blu-Ray performance that will only be available via the special collector's edition of 'Exul!' The video can be seen below.

Limited to just 2,000 copies, the special item also contains 'Exul' on CD, a 16-page booklet, and a unique media book with a mount-it-yourself acrylic box, figurine and logo!

The band comments, "This live performance video features audio that is almost completely unedited. It's brilliantly imperfect. A genuine and an authentic representation of what our shows are like. This concert Blu-Ray is a great example of how deeply we care about our music and the connection between ourselves and the audience. It's six people that have worked for years (decades even) at their craft coming together to bring our music to life for audiences across the world and we are so excited to get back to doing that in 2023. We hope you enjoy this taste of NeO's Live in Melbourne Blu-Ray. See you all on the EXUL world tour (EU/UK this May and USA/CAN Oct/Nov + more TBA) for our own moment to share together!"

'Exul' is due March 24, 2023! The band's stunning video for the new song "Graal" can be found HERE.

Pre-orders for 'Exul' can be found HERE while the album can be pre-saved on streaming services HERE.

NE OBLIVISCARIS also recently announced a European/UK tour, which will take place from May 5-June 3, 2023! For all upcoming live dates and tickets, visit the band's website HERE.

Drum tracking for Exul, the fourth long-player from Australian extreme progressive metallers NE OBLIVISCARIS, started in March 2020. There is an ominous tone to that date: March 2020. The pandemic demarcation line. That month, Daniel Presland laid down his drums in Nashville, Tennessee, with American producer Mark Lewis. As flight cancellations increased and borders shuttered, Presland made it home literally hours before Australia closed theirs. Lewis, guitarist Benjamin Baret and bassist Martino Garattoni weren’t as lucky. They were due to land in Australia in the days that followed to continue tracking, but were forced to remain overeseas indefinitely. With recording studios shuttered throughout Melbourne, a slow, tedious, life-altering two-year grind to complete Exul ensued for NE OBLIVISCARIS

What should have been the continued upward swing after 2017’s critically acclaimed Urn turned into the most fraught moment of NE OBLIVISCARIS’s career. Clean vocalist and violinist Tim Charles says the period “came close to breaking us completely.” It was a time filled with death, relationships breaking down, despair and financial loss. Presland, NE OBLIVISCARIS’s drummer since 2005, amicably parted ways in early 2022, throwing yet another wrench into the band’s plans.

There are, however, happy accidents scattered throughout the creation of Exul. The extra, unexpected downtime allowed the band to fine-tune and even re-write parts previously set in stone before the pandemic. Charles’s violin solo at the end of “Graal” is a prime example: His original idea wasn’t fully realized until he revisited the song in early 2021 and promptly came up with a new part. It was a classic “a-ha” moment that improved the song.

“Getting an opportunity to have a song mostly done for a year or so and then go back to it, find what you loved about it the first time and maybe even improve it in some ways was a nice silver lining from all the delays,” says Charles. “I think because we had so many delays that were out of our control, we were even more determined to take our time to make sure when the time came to record and to mix, that we ensured it was the absolute best it could be in every way.”

Seven additional studios and three more countries later, Exul was finally mixed and mastered in July 2022.

The album personifies NE OBLIVISCARIS’s distinctive, boundary-pushing ethos. The band’s trademark blend of emotion and beauty is as towering as ever, if not even more compelling, particularly how Charles’s violin lines carefully weave their way around Baret and fellow guitarist Matt Klavins’ riffing. The duality of Charles’s clean vocals and Xenoyr’s growls remains the narrative anchor, elevating songs that emanate sophistication and are a masterclass in composition.

“Our approach is always the same,” says Charles, “which is essentially to just write and see what comes out. Exul definitely had its challenges during the songwriting process. Part of the beauty of how our music comes together is that we are quite different individuals bringing an array of ideas together. From there, we work out how to combine them into something that is seamless and beautiful to us. We were determined to make this our best and most complete album yet, which definitely resulted in it taking longer. But we are so proud of this album and it’s exciting to finally share it with the world.”

The album’s centerpiece is the two-part “Misericorde I – As the Flesh Fails” and “Misericorde – Anatomy of Quiescence.” (A NE OBLIVISCARIS album is not complete without a multi-part epic!) According to Charles, Part II began by taking a song they thought was finished (Pt I) and asking, “What if after that…?” The band then wrote a section that took the piece in a new direction and what was a 7 minute song, became an almost 17 minute 2 part epic.

“The bulk of Part I was written more so by Benji and Martino,” notes Charles. “You can hear the very guitar-driven approach present throughout that track. Part II, by contrast, was written more so by myself in collaboration with others and the emphasis changes more towards expansive solos and slow-developing sections that build towards the epic finale. These two tracks are a great example of how it’s the combination of our different strengths as songwriters spread across an album that results in the sound that is 'NE OBLIVISCARIS'.”

Charles’s violin parts, whether on “Misericorde II,” “Equus” or “Suspyre,” exude confidence. The instrument has always been central to the band’s sound. On Exul, Charles’s violin playing is taken to another level. “I think that over the years, in regards to how my violin interacts within NeO’s music, I’ve simply continued to add more strings to my bow, so to speak,” he says. “With ‘Exul,’ I definitely explored even further the use of layers of violin and viola parts to create a more textured feel compared to other albums. ‘Mesericorde II’ was definitely a bit of a breakthrough song for me, where I felt I could utilize the strings in a way that hadn’t been done in NeO’s music before. In the end, whatever serves the song best is always the aim and having more ways of creating music makes it easier to serve the song.”

The Exul album title came to Xen when he was summing up the album’s feeling musically and lyrically. Coincidentally, it matched the experience of most people during the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “I think everyone at some point has felt at odds with the world around them, felt alone, cast out, or misunderstood,” says Xen. “Exul felt right to use in a broader sense and as a lone word, for we each have our own history and a story of exile.

“Overall, there’s a darker core to this album, perhaps more ominous than previous releases,” he continues. “However abstract the lyrics are, they involve some form of unwanted departure — all journeys into torment, passion, longing and even despair. They touch on the process of physical and psychological destruction that comes from that sense or reality of being exiled, whether forced from one’s land, ostracised from a community, shunned by a religion, or even simply being treated differently for being who they are.”

Touring will factor heavily into NE OBLIVISCARIS’s 2023 plans. The band will embark on headlining tours worldwide that will hit new territories. As luck would have it, the return to live show activity will coincide with the release of Exul and the band’s 20th anniversary. As one of Australia’s leading extreme metal exports, there is a distinct sense of gratitude from Charles and his bandmates. They’re looking forward to sharing it with fans when they resume touring.

“Simply getting the opportunity to perform music that we’ve written on stages around the world to people that genuinely love and connect with it,” finishes Charles when talking about NE OBLIVISCARIS’s 20-year journey. “There is something incredibly special about the energy that exists between an artist and audience at a concert and it’s an honor to get the opportunity to spend 2023 connecting with people in that way once more.”

The founder of the project and Venezuelan guitarist, Daniel Morales, has fused together a variety of music styles in this track through complex guitar writing and modern production techniques.

With complex rhythms, catchy melodies, and innovative sound, "A New Infinite" is a track that is sure to impress even the most discerning of listeners. This track was mixed by Simon Grove and mastered by Venezuelan engineer Moises D' Bello, and it is a testament to their musical expertise.

This release truly shows how guitar music continues to evolve and innovate, offering a lot more room for creativity and a new infinite for possibilities.

Music Tabs will be available for sale later this year.

I was introduced to electronic music at a young age through video games and online browsing. This led me to discover artists like Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada and fueled my love for music. Over time, I became fascinated with the unique fusion of guitar music and electronics in artists like Linkin Park, Attack Attack, and more recently The Algorithm and 100Gecs just to name a few. This foundation has ultimately brought me to this point where I wanted to create my own twist on this genre, and I'm grateful to have had the help of talented artists like Plini and Simon Grove in realizing my vision," says Daniel.

Aurora Dream is a Miami, Florida-based musical project that was founded by Daniel Morales in 2016, during his final months at university. The project was launched with the release of "Parallel Colors (Demo)," a single that was originally meant to be a personal release. However, due to high demand during live shows, Daniel decided to establish a separate project.

Aurora Dream pushes the boundaries of traditional guitar music with its unique fusions, writing styles, and production techniques. Despite this, the project retains its signature progressive, modern, and ethereal sound. As the driving force behind Aurora Dream, Daniel Morales has grown the project independently with the help of numerous talented individuals in the music industry. The result has exceeded his expectations, and the project has expanded beyond his original vision.

Daniel Morales, also known as “Duniel”, is a Venezuelan-American independent guitarist, entrepreneur, and composer. He is best known as the founder of the instrumental project Aurora Dream, and also releases music under his own name where he explores his creative ideas and continues to expand the boundaries of guitar music. Daniel composes, plays guitar, records, and manages his unique brand of instrumental progressive music, all from his bedroom studio. Born in Mérida, Venezuela, on September 11th, 1996, Daniel is considered to be one of the most successful and influential guitarists from his home country. His inspirations revolve around progressive rock, metal, emo, math rock, pop, and experimental music.

Jenna Paulette Lives on Love with "Anywhere The Wind Blows," Available Everywhere Now

Rising country songstress and cowgirl Jenna Paulette is shedding past woes and heartbreaks, replacing them instead with an excited sense of anticipation for a future yet to come. The carefree, wistful love detailed in her latest song, “Anywhere the Wind Blows,” serves as a testament to how far she’s come - and how far she plans to go. Listen to “Anywhere the Wind Blows” below.

“Anywhere the Wind Blows,” written by Paulette alongside ACM Songwriter of the Decade Rhett Akins and producer/songwriters Will Bundy and Jeb Gipson, is the latest off her upcoming debut album The Girl I Was.

The project was inspired by one of Paulette’s favorite childhood memories of selling cattle with her grandfather as a young girl. It’s where she first recognized her love of being a cowgirl and felt most true to herself. Realizing how disconnected she had become from who she once was throughout the course of a ten year relationship, The Girl I Was follows her soul-searching journey - and finds Paulette re-emerging stronger and more confident than ever before as she rediscovers that child-like joy she had long since lost. Pre-save The Girl I Was, available March 31 HERE.

"This song is about letting go of the things that weighed me down and into what God has for me,” Paulette shared. “I have so much hope for my future right now-- everything I thought I could never have is working out just fine and I feel so light and ready for the adventure ahead."

Recently named Apple Music’s March Country Riser of the Month, Paulette’s first episode on “The Ward Guenther Show” will be available to stream on Apple Music today at 3pm CT HERE.

About Jenna Paulette:
Named a CMT Next Women of Country Class Member of 2022, singer-songwriter Jenna Paulette — a cowgirl who came of age amid the gritty realities of ranch life — is part of Nashville’s growing wave of female artists who are rewriting the rules and charting their own paths. Her finely calibrated blend of toughness and sensitivity is on full display in tracks like “Country in the Girl” and “Pretty Ugly”. Her most recent single, "Slow Drawl", gives a glimpse into Paulette's songwriting abilities and finds a way to present the western way of life in a mainstream way. Paulette settled in Nashville, where she struck up a mentorship with Ashley Gorley, a veteran songwriter with 50+ No. 1 tunes under his belt. Since collaborating with songwriters like Will Bundy, Rhett Akins and Jessie Jo Dillion, as well as opening for Mason Ramsey on his 2019 national tour, Parmalee, John Michael Montgomery and Clay Walker, Paulette landed brand partnerships with Boot Barn, George Dickel Whiskey and Ranch Water, and ultimately signed a publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music in June 2021. Last year, Paulette continued to spotlight her authentic western lifestyle, performing the national anthem at the Professional Bull Riding World Finals; as well as, day working on ranches across Texas, securing opening slots and performing in multiple festivals including CMA Fest. With her debut album, The Girl I Was, due March 31, 2023, Paulette hopes to continue building her audience as fans get a deeper look into who she is as an artist.

ENSLAVED: New Album, "Heimdal," Is Out Now!

We are of the waters carrying the countless names
above, below, absorbed and besung
We are of the Eternal Sea, crossing to wander in shadows

Today, Enslaved are proud to release their latest avant-garde creation, Heimdal. Their breathtaking 16th studio album is both a departure and a communion with roots forged over three decades ago in the turbulent birth throes of Norway’s black metal scene. It's a record that points towards new beginnings, and a dawn that’s on the other side of the apex of the land. Prepare for a psychedelic journey through arcane Norse folklore, to connect with one's ancient ancestors and our future selves.

Enslaved's Grutle Kjellson commented,
“After more than three decades, I still get excited when I hear Ivar’s demos; we may be older now, and as life has evolved are unable to spend as much time on music as we would like, but the song writing process for Enslaved hasn’t changed much. Ivar works on the seeds and shapes of songs, sends them to the rest of us, and we’ll form our own narratives - these phantom sketches eventually come to life and they speak to us, and hopefully they speak to our fans as well.

In my opinion, our band is even more creative, more experimental, more diverse and somehow more  musical than when we started. I suppose one of the main reasons we continue as a band is that we have never reached a place where we bore ourselves. Our passion for telling stories, writing riffs, put words to them and exploring the human condition through music and myth, has only increased over the years and Heimdal is a reflection of who we are as artists, musicians and human beings in the year 2023.”

Enslaved have also revealed a masterly lyric video, created by Ingo Spörl, for album focus track 'The Eternal Sea'.

You can order/stream Heimdal here: https://enslaved.bfan.link/heimdal.ema

Heimdal was produced by Enslaved's own Ivar Bjørnson, Iver Sandøy and Grutle Kjellson. Mixing was handled by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, and the final treatment was mastered by Tony Lindgren. The concept and lyrics for Heimdal was, as always, developed by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson in tandem.

The album was recorded primarily at Solslottet Studios in Bergen, which is owned by Iver SandøySolslottet is a satellite of the well-known Duper Studios, where the drums were recorded and engineered by Iver himself, with assistance from Vegard Lemme. The main guitars, bass, pianos, organs, and vocals were also recorded at SolslottetArve 'Ice Dale' Isdal recorded his guitar leads at his own Earshot & Conclave Studios. The final touches and a few experimental ideas were added at the Overlook Hotel using Solslottet’s mobile studio rig. All music for Heimdal was written and demoed at Ivar Bjørnson’s own Crow’s Nest studio.

The record features psychedelic track 'Caravans To The Outer Worlds' from last year's EP of the same name. Album bonus versions contain an extra track, 'Gangandi', alongside a Blu-Ray copy of 2021's stunning Otherworldly Big Band Experience streamed event the band's boldest project to date, featuring fellow Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant. The kaleidoscopic stage show features a stellar setlist, covering Enslaved's career, both past and present.

Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene's indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, releasing their first demo Yggdrasill in the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-album Hordanes Land coming out in 1993, and with their debut full-length Vikingligr Veldi arriving in the spring of 1994.

Enslaved in 2023 are a band in stellar form - a band at its most existentialist and self-conscious, proud Bergeners bearing the torch of their hometown’s extraordinary musical history. Their most recent material shows Enslaved at their most unleashed and thought-through - a lethal combination unfurling a potential that’s easily rekindling the furor of their early works while dancing gracefully through their most ambitious, most haunting and most musical tunes yet. A contradiction? Life itself is a contradiction. And yet we all live to prove it wrong.

Enslaved are:
Ivar Bjørnson | guitars
Grutle Kjellson | vocals
Arve 'Ice Dale' Isdal | guitar
Håkon Vinje | keyboards, clean vocals
Iver Sandøy | drums

Gramercy Arms release star-studded 'Deleted Scenes' LP, inspired by the artistic heyday of ‘70s and ‘80s-era New York City

"Gentle and perfectly arranged, it is both calming and genuine, straightforward and talented, giving space and voice everywhere that the song and its story requires. A hidden Americana-indiepop gem, Gramercy Arms show that music truly is a journey"~ The Spill Magazine

"A slice of mature, soulful pop, gentle and refined, a swirl of gorgeous boy-girl harmonies, laced with elegant guitar lines and the perfect balance between a slightly nostalgic then and a now calling out for such astute, chart-friendly pop. A future classic" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Melancholic yet radiant, emotively shadowed but joyfully rousing, Yesterday’s Girl swiftly and keenly had the body swinging and pleasure bubbling, its melodic jangle and rhythmic kneading just as magnetic" ~ Ringmaster Review

NYC indie rock outfit Gramercy Arms have released their much-anticipated third album 'Deleted Scenes' via New Jersey-based Magic Door Record Label.

A revolving collective, masterminded by Dave Derby (The DambuildersLloyd Cole), Gramercy Arms is inspired by the artistic heyday of ‘70s and ‘80s-era New York City. They make addictive indie pop - exquisite hook-laden melodies filled with lyrics that will have you floating back in time, remembering your favorite mistake.

Produced, recorded and mixed by Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Elk City) at Magic Door Recording in Montclair, NJ, this album was mastered by award-winning engineer Greg Calbi (John Lennon, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Tom Petty, Todd Rundgren).

Earlier, Gramercy Arms teased the singles 'Yesterday's Girl' (plus an acoustic version), Derby co-penned by Derby and music legend Lloyd Cole and performed as a duet with Derby and Renée Lo Bue (Elk City, Flowers of America), and 'Tricky Love Stuff', featuring violinist Claudia Chopek (Bright Eyes, The Little River Band), saxophonist Peter Hess (Phillip Glass Ensemble, Anti-Social Music, Slavic Soul Party) and backing vocals by Lo Bue, Jessie Kilguss and Gary Burton (Dovedale).

This album is quite the star-studded affair, involving Lloyd Cole, Kevin March (Guided by Voices, The Dambuilders, Shudder to Think), Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices, Nada Surf), Sean Eden (Luna), Rainy Orteca (Joan As Police Woman), Mark Lizotte (Diesel), Rafa Maciejak (Lloyd Cole and the Negatives), Phoebe Summersquash (Small Factory), Lysa Opfer (Aeon Station), Kendall Meade (Mascott), Verena Wiesendanger (Semi Gloss), John Leon (Royal Arctic Institute), Hilken Mancini (Fuzzy), Richard Alwyn-Fisher (King Canutes), Mike Errico, Steve Hurley (Gigolo Auntsand Carl Baggaley (Elk City, Royal Arctic Institute),

"Every step of this record has been about collaboration. Before we started, Ray Ketchem and I documented our vision for how the record should be. We wanted it to be simple, melodic, powerful and beautifully recorded. We were almost finished with the record and then COVID happened and we had to cancel what were initially intended to be the final sessions of making the album," says Dave Derby.

"During the pandemic, when the entire world seemed to go on break, we reached out to friends like Mike Errico, John Leon (Royal Arctic Institute, Roky Erickson), Stephen Hurley (Gigolo Aunts) and Mark Lizotte (Diesel), who were able to contribute remotely. Their contributions really transformed the record."

Ray Ketchem adds, "We were lucky to work with Greg Calbi, legendary Grammy-winning mastering engineer of classic records from Talking Heads, David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen. Calbi called me after spending the afternoon working on 'Deleted Scenes' and said, “Who IS this guy? Every one of these songs are fantastic!”

Lyrically driven and rich on vocal-harmony, interspersed with elements of 60s sunshine pop and folk-rock, 'Deleted Scenes' follows previous albums 'The Seasons of Love' (2012) and 'Gramercy Arms' (2008).

'Deleted Scenes' is out now across online platforms, including Apple MusicSpotify and other online stores, as well as Bandcamp. On March 1, Gramercy Arms hosts their record release show at Sid Gold's in New York, the first in a series of monthly Public Access TV Musical Variety Shows hosted and produced by Gramercy Arms, Jessie Kilguss, Gary Burton, Richard Alwyn Fisher and Dave Derby.

FIRST TRACK "HELL HOUNDS" OUT TODAY

Heavy Southern Rock band Texas Hippie Coalition announces the release of their seventh studio album, The Name Lives On, on April 21, 2023 via MNRK Heavy. The hard-hitting, 10-track collection is another riff-heavy, sonic assault from beginning to end.

The first single, “Hell Hounds,” was released today and proves this dog hunts right out of the gate.  With a punishing riff, Big Dad Ritch growls, "And I know that you think you're so strong/And I've been sent to prove you wrong."

THC frontman Big Dad Ritch says, “Where there once was an appetite for this style of music, I witnessed a hunger grow and now I see the lovers of real music starving for it. “The name lives on” is an album that is a dinner bell ringer… I was sent to ring that bell!!!”

Texas Hippie Coalition is often compared to the many great Southern Rock and Texas bands that came before them.  But they are proving to the world that THC is not just following in their footsteps, they are leaving giant footprints.  THC has etched out a place for themselves in the multi-genre fields of music, and have also created their own genre, "Red Dirt Metal."  You have to hear it to understand it.  Words are not enough to convey how powerfully big their sound is.

SILVERTUNG RETURNS AFTER TWO-YEAR HIATUS WITH NEW SINGLE, “INTEGRITY”

Mid-Atlantic rock band Silvertung is back! Following a two-year hiatus of uncertainty, they were left with the most important decision of their music career...shut down or face the adversity they've been dealt.

"Giving up was NOT an option," asserts lead vocalist, Speed Vincent. After experiencing the world-changing effects of the pandemic, he reformed Silvertung with all new members and a reinvented sound.

Injecting new styles and ideas, Silvertung is setting their own pace and rules within the quartet’s musicianship. Their newest single “INTEGRITY” is an unrelenting sonic message with intense, hard-hitting beats, aggressive guitar riffs and confident, demanding statements like “Hope you see the light, before the light becomes your enemy.” Unified with infectious melodies, fierce screaming vocals, and harmonies, firing up a massive, uplifting chorus. Mastering the elusive balance between surprising new elements, without deviating from the empowering motivation the band is known for.

Morgan Wallen Celebrates ONE THING AT A TIME with Special Hometown Show

East Tennessean Morgan Wallen has remained true to his roots throughout his skyrocketing career - his pride in his hometown of Sneedville, Tennessee playing an integral role in songs like “More Than My Hometown” and “Tennessee Fan.” Yesterday (3/2), stepping on to his high school alma mater’s baseball field for the first time since graduation, that pride was on full display after surprising Gibbs’ senior class in their high school auditorium, hand-delivering the news of his impromptu performance to follow that evening.

Brought to students by Spotify, Wallen performed an hour+ set including eight new songs from One Thing At A Time to the 2023 senior class, along with Gibbs High School faculty, the baseball team and more local guests. Guests could create their own Gibbs High School baseball card to commemorate the evening, write letters on album-themed postcards and participate in other fun games and activities all housed on the field so much of Wallen’s teamsmanship stems from.

It was a night the senior class nor Wallen are likely to forget. From a surprise presentation of a 2021 championship ring by baseball coach Geff Davis, to having his parents, son and both grandmothers in the crowd, a humbled and grateful Wallen reflected, “This is so cool. There are a lot of special people here. Having graduated in 2011, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel coming back - but this place will always hold a special place in my heart.”

The most humbling part of the evening wasn’t the jubilant crowd or the celebration of another milestone album - but was in his ability to give back to the place that built the foundation of who he has become. In a night filled with surprises, Wallen topped them all, presenting a $35,000 check on behalf of the Morgan Wallen Foundation (MWF) to go toward providing instruments for the school’s students.

“I started the Morgan Wallen Foundation about a year ago - It combines my love of sports and music. Without those two things I don’t know where I’d be,  I don’t know what my life would look like. I know it would look a lot different, so that’s what I’m going to try to do - give back to those two areas, as well as communities in need. That’s our focus.” Wallen shared.

“We wanted to say thank you tonight and help you out with a couple things, so we wrote a $35,000 check,” he continued. “It’s going to go towards instruments for the choral department, instruments for the band department and then for baseball - a new field cart - so we can help get this field back in shape after y’all trampled on it tonight.”

"The impact that Morgan has had on both the country genre and Spotify is undeniable. He is one of the most streamed artists on our platform, and we are thrilled to celebrate his new album with a deeply personal event in his hometown," shared Brittany Schaffer, Spotify Head of Nashville Label Partnerships, Music Strategy. "We cannot wait to watch fans connect with his new music in person and on our platform once the record comes out this week."

The Morgan Wallen Foundation provides opportunities for children to thrive by creating access to music and sports. The mission is inspired by Wallen’s own childhood and how access to both music and sports transformed and enriched his life in ways he could have never imagined – instilling in him the values and benefits of discipline, hard work and commitment. MWF supports programs that share its core belief that Every Child Deserves A Chance to thrive, play and create and is also dedicated to being there for communities in times of need, whether offering a helping hand during natural disasters with urgently needed supplies or turning concert parking lots into food distribution centers providing bags of groceries to food insecure families.

“Morgan wears his heart on his sleeve as an artist and songwriter, and he brings fans into his world through his lyrics,” said Miller Guth, Spotify Artist & Label Partnerships Manager for Nashville. “We wanted to do just that: bring fans to an influential location of his past where they’ll get to know him even more and witness an unforgettable performance.”

To continue the celebration of the album that has already yielded 2 No. 1 hits at country radio ahead of its release - 2x Platinum “You Proof” and Platinum “Thought You Should Know,” co-written by Wallen alongside Nicolle Galyon and Miranda Lambert - Wallen will host another free-to-fans show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena tomorrow night (March 3). The at-capacity celebration distributed every ticket available in just 3 hours and 5 minutes with fans lining up for blocks around the downtown arena.

ABOUT MORGAN WALLEN
Hailed by Billboard for making “his superstar arrival as a touring artist” in 2022, Morgan Wallen recently wrapped his record-shattering 55-show Dangerous Tour with his first headlining stadium show at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, which saw him shatter attendance records previously held by Elton John and Lady Gaga. Now, the CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee who broke records in 30 venues across the country - with the only country tour nominated for Pollstar’s Major Tour of the Year - will embark on a massive world tour in 2023. Spanning 30 stadium shows across 4 countries and 2 continents, plus arenas, amphitheaters and festivals, Wallen’s 63-show 2023 One Night At A Time World Tour will deliver the man The New Yorker dubbed as “the most wanted man in country” to fans worldwide.

With over 13.6 billion on-demand streams and eight chart-toppers at Country radio, the East Tennessean’s latest hit to top the charts is “Thought You Should Know,” cowritten with Nicolle Galyon and Miranda Lambert. Recent breakout hit “You Proof” became his fastest climbing single to-date, reaching No. 1 after just 14 weeks and remaining at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart for a record-breaking ten non-consecutive weeks. On the heels of the unparalleled success of his 4x platinum, ACM Album of the Year, Dangerous: The Double Album (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic Records) – which topped 2021's all-genre Billboard 200 Albums year-end chart and notched historical chart status as Billboard’s longest running Top 10 album in history for a solo artist (with 108 total weeks spent in the Top 10, eclipsing Adele’s 21 and Bruce Springsteen’s Born In The USA), Wallen’s 36-song deeply personal third studio album, One Thing At A Time, is available now. The American Music Awards’ Favorite Male Country Artist and Favorite Country Song (“Wasted On You”) winner continues to touch fans’ lives in ways few can; Pollstar noting “[he has] the ability to distill his life in a way that pulls others to him.” Thanks to those very fans, the superstar has raised nearly $3 million dollars for causes close to his heart with $3 from every U.S. ticket sold for each tour benefitting the Morgan Wallen Foundation.

Paleface Swiss Drop Music Video For Brand New Track, "Best: Before Death"

Switzerland's finest purveyors of brutality, PALEFACE SWISS, have dropped brand new stand-alone single "Best Before: Death" today. The new release comes with a brand new music video and is in celebration of the band's first ever US tour, which kicked off in West Palm, FL with Bodysnatcher, Angelmaker and Distant. Find the track on streaming platforms HERE, watch the video below and get tickets HERE.

Speaking on his band's latest release, frontman Marc 'Zelli' Zellweger shares

"The song is about the expiry date of us humans and how we as people get closer to that date with every breath we take, with every addiction, greed, hate, over-working, etc.

You could say we are made to be used before our death. In essence, the human becomes useful after their death.

We don't have much longer because: the world is fucked, the people are fucked and our lives are fucked.“

Today is a special day for PALEFACE SWISS, not only because they unleashed their first new music in almost a year, but also because it also marks the start of their first ever US tour. The run kicked off in West Palm, FL last night and the mostly-sold-out run with Bodysnatcher, Angelmaker and Distant will hit a further 26 cities across the US before culminating in Worcester, PA on March 29th. Full routing below. Remaining tickets available from palefaceswiss.com/tour

Speaking on his excitement for the upcoming trek, Zelli continues

"A few year’s ago, me, the little swiss boy Zelli decided that I wanted to form a band with my friends. Over the years, we have luckily gained a lot of attention from heavy music fans in the US. Now, after long months and years of preparing, it is finally time for the four boys from Switzerland to head over to the states not just for our first us tour but also to make one of the biggest dreams we have as a band come true.

We are obviously extremely exited to finally give back to our US fans who have supported us so much and so constantly over the years! Something they deserve. We have a lot of respect and we’re honestly a little bit nervous but we can’t wait to finally rock through the whole country with an AMAZING line up and a nearly sold out tour! See you in the pit! "

LANDMVRKS frontman Florent Salfati and most recently, fan favourite and stylistic curveball, "My Grave / Lay with Me" which was released last month. The album focuses on more mature and critical topics related to the fears and struggles young people have to contend with in the 21st century, most importantly, the topic of mental health.

The neutrality Switzerland is known for globally does not apply to PALEFACE SWISS

They have come to destroy.

ABOUT PALEFACE SWISS

Since the release of their third album, 'Chapter 3: The Last Selection', independent outfit, PALEFACE SWISS have gained international recognition throughout the Deathcore and Beatdown Community. Known for their huge, aggressive riffs, brutally bombastic rhythm section, frontman, Zelli's outstanding vocals and a pinch of humor. This is Switzerland’s finest heavy music.

PALEFACE SWISS was formed in Zurich, Switzerland in 2017 by vocalist Marc Zellweger (Zelli) and drummer Colin Hammond (CJ) having met through a mutual friend in 2016. After bonding over a shared love of beatdowns and hardcore, Zelli and CJ shook hands at a concert in 2017 and promised they would create the craziest beatdown band ever together.

They recruited guitarist Yannick Lehmann to the band and released their debut ‘Chapter 1: From The Gallows’ in 2018. Later that year, they brought bassist Tommy-Lee Abt to PALEFACE SWISS family. They played their first show in October 2018 and quickly grew in popularity with the song “Deprivation Method”.

In early 2019, Paleface started writing ‘Chapter 2: Witch King’ which was released in May 2019. The band started to gain international attention with the release of tracks “Human Hunter” and “Skin People”. They released the single “No Mercy At All” at the end of 2019 and started working on the final installment of the dark story they’d created with Chapters 1 & 2.

Chapter 3: The Last Selection’ was released on October 30th 2020 to much acclaim. PALEFACE SWISS released fourmusic videos for huge tracks “Curse Us”, “The Rats”, "Lights Out" and “Skalpell” which quickly ranked high in the deadown/hardcore charts and saw the band become cover stars on Spotify’s Heavy Beatdown playlist.

In 2022 the band released their most ambitious and brutal album yet, 'Fear & Dagger'. The album was widely considered a huge step up for the band as plaudits began to roll in for frontman Zelli's vocal ability, Metal Injection accurately summed it up in their review by saying, "It's fun to get caught up in Paleface's unrelenting instrumentals, but Zelli's really the star of Paleface. This is largely because he treats his screams like rap bars.".

The album's technical proficiency and no-holds barred brutality, coupled with Zelli's unique delivery and highly emotional lyrics struck a chord with fans worldwide and saw the band's monthly listeners on Spotify increase by nearly 300%. It was released to much acclaim with New Transcendence stating "Paleface have created one of the most emotionally relevant and intriguing beatdown releases to date" and Wall of Sound calling it "an unashamedly brutal and angry album".

As Metal Injection so astutely put it in their review of 'Fear & Dagger' - "Stop pretending to be cultured, and get down with the beatdown.".

As a festival that's focused on highlighting new and upcoming artists in the heavy scene, KNOTFEST and Pulse of the Maggots are a perfect fit and are helping us expand more into the growing metal and hardcore scenes. We are excited for everyone to see what is in store for the night."

Clown of Slipknot shares the enthusiasm, saying, "Excited for the new Pulses for us all."

Pulse of the Maggots Fest initially began as a digital festival in 2020, shortly after the launch of Knotfest.com as a full heavy culture media hub as a way to bring emerging artist performances to audience across the world during the world shut down. After two more digital festivals, Pulse Fest had its inaugural in-person event with the Pulse Fest UK featuring Sylosis, Orbit Culture, Heriot, Spiritworld, and more.

With this SXSW showcase (as well as other festivals spanning the globe, including currently on-sale festivals in Australia, Japan, and Italy, Knotfest continues its impact as a curator in the heavy genre.

ABOUT THE PULSE OF MAGGOTS x SXSW SHOWCASE LINEUP:

THE CALLOUS DAOBOYS:
Earning comparative nods to mathcore lineage like Botch and Converge, the sextet package a cacophony of organized chaos in a performance on 2022's Celebrity Therapist  that is purely volatile.

CREEPING DEATH:
Practitioners of Texas heft, Creeping Death have taken up the torch for the modern era of death metal. The band's Edge of Existence EP was hailed for it classic and contemporary take on the genre such that their forthcoming 2023 release is among the most anticipated of the year.

ESCUELA GRIND:
The New England grindcore unit proved relentless on their 2022 full length, Memory Theater. Paying homage to their predecessors like Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, and early Carcass, the technical prowess in tandem with the sheer brutality of the band make them among extreme music’s most promising prospects.

MILITARIE GUN:
Dynamic songwriters well beyond their years, L.A.'s Militarie Gun have a knack for crafting tunes that stick. Their All Roads Lead to the Gun ushered in a new era of post-hardcore brilliance that leaned heavily on memorable hooks, punchy guitars and a '90s angst executed with grit and guts.

SOUL GLO:
The Philly hardcore standouts scored a massive win in 2022 with the release of their universally acclaimed, Diaspora Problems. Praised for their biting social commentary and frenzied execution, they are among the most exciting, emerging names in the landscape of contemporary hardcore.

VCTMS:
The Chicago aggressors and DIY riders spent most of 2022 touring in support of their Vol. IV: Numb the Ache LP. Ending the year with the reveal of the single, "The Dearly Beloved," the band's layered assault and musical bombast makes for an impressive show of force.

Lead vocalist and guitarist Igor Sydorenko comments: "Written in 2019, recorded in 2021, released in 2023 - behold 'Father Light!' Serving as the first half of our ambitious five-years-in-the-making song cycle project, 'Father Light is heavy, intense and progressive - while its sister album, 'Mother Dark,' is expected to be more laid-back, hypnotic and introverted. STONED JESUS recently announced their appearance on the mighty Hellfest of 2023! More information on tours/festival for 2023 will be announced on a later stage.

Ukrainian prog-stoner trio STONED JESUS held their first rehearsal since the Russian invasion in the middle of July 2022. It was a moment the band dubbed as “surreal” and justifiably so — the regular ritual of band practice was made impossible by the war. The members of STONED JESUS — Igor Sydorenko (vocals/guitar), Sergii Sliusar (bass) and Dmytro Zinchenko (drums) — captured the moment for their social media channels. A broad smile of defiance and satisfaction can be seen on their faces. Regardless of the senseless havoc and destruction reaped upon their homeland, STONED JESUS would play on. It was the resumption of a music career temporarily thwarted but not defeated by evil.

Since 2009, STONED JESUS has served as one of Ukraine’s leading forces in heavy rock. Sydorenko, a veteran of the Ukrainian music scene, formed the band after stumbling upon some heavy and angry riffs that would become the song “Occult.” He fed off his Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin influences and was soon turned onto Electric Wizard and Sleep, two bands who mastered the art of bold, lurching heaviness, thus creating a sonic template to abide by.

The band was initially dubbed “STONED JESUS from the Outer Space” but shortened to the much crisper Stoned Jesus. The name was trimmed down out of necessity — Sydorenko wanted to legitimize the band immediately. “I realized that this may cause some problems,” he told the Psychedelic Baby webzine in 2010. “Some people wouldn’t take our music seriously, then. I don’t mind jokes and having fun, but music is always the most serious thing for me.”

Two demos ensued before STONED JESUS’s debut LP, 2010’s First Communion. Recorded in two hours, First Communion was a promising offering that dove headlong into the world of heavy stoner rock, with three songs going over the ten-minute mark for hypnotic effect. The album eventually saw a proper reissue in 2020, introducing it to a new group of fans. Seven Thunders Roar followed in 2012 and included “I’m the Mountain,” a 16-minute epic jam that has since become a live staple. The album also introduced a bevy of acoustic guitar and softer vocal approaches from Sydorenko.

The Harvest came next in 2015, deftly transitioning Stoned Jesus from sludge into new terrain, including alternative and progressive rock. This is a credit to Sydorenko’s evolving songwriting style and desire to never allow STONED JESUS to repeat itself. “It works brilliantly for the likes of Motörhead or AC/DC, but we’re not that legendary yet,” he told Outlaws of the Sun webzine in 2015. “So, let’s experiment, shall we? Let’s play with the genres, the sound, the song structures, the melodies, the timings — yes, my favorite trick!”

Pilgrim came next in 2018, which until now, has been the band’s career-defining moment. Stoned Jesus’s original plans were to record its follow-up in 2020. That, of course, was sidelined by the pandemic. The band then entered Spivaki Records in Kharkiv in July 2021 to record nine songs at 75 minutes. Two-thirds of the material was mixed and mastered before the invasion, leaving the final run-time of six songs at 43 minutes.

The result is Father Light, the band’s first for Season of Mist. The album catches Stoned Jesus in full bloom. The foundational elements of STONED JESUS’s sound remain (fuzzed-out rock, driving bass lines and maximum groove) and are once again augmented by the combination of Sydorenko’s gentle clean vocals and hook-laden chorus choices, along with an array of ornamental guitar melodies. And, in true STONED JESUS fashion, the journey is often the reward: The cuts on Father Light expand and shift — all the while, the band’s trademark heaviness serves as the guide.

STONED JESUS subsequently resumed live activity in July 2022 with European festival dates and runs with countrymen (and labelmates) Somali Yacht Club and then VOVK. The shows provided the band the opportunity to air two of the songs that would end up on Father Light: “Con” and “Porcelain.” Moreover, the dates were an outlet for the band to connect with waiting audiences who supported their music and cause of raising money to help those impacted by the war.

The idea that music is the ultimate escape has never rung truer in light of what happened to Ukraine in 2022. The prospect of brighter days lies ahead, making the Father Light album title even more appropriate.

As 2022 drew to a close, the members of STONED JESUS posted their final message for the year, epitomizing their resilience and optimism:

All the missiles in the world can’t destroy freedom. Nothing will stop truth.

ASHLEY McBRYDE JOINS “THE JENNIFER HUDSON SHOW”

New Single Light On In The Kitchen” Debuts to Critical Acclaim;
Impacts Country Radio March 27

“Ashley McBryde maintains her position as
country’s most down-to-earth songwriter”
 The New York Times

Grand Ole Opry member Ashley McBryde joined “The Jennifer Hudson Show” yesterday, March 1 to discuss her latest release, recent GRAMMY win for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her chart-topping “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Carly Pearce and performed an impromptu song based on an audience member’s story.

Last week, McBryde debuted her latest single “Light On In The Kitchen” to critical acclaim, with The New York Times praising, “Ashley McBryde maintains her position as country’s most down-to-earth songwriter,” while Rolling Stone observes, “With its gentle, brushed drums and light shadings of mandolin, it’s a delicate ballad that feels ready for radio and the Grand Ole Opry stage but comes with mountains of good advice.”

With “Light On In The Kitchen” impacting Country radio on March 27, Billboard boasts, “Is Ashley McBryde capable of writing a less-than-stellar song? It seems not,” calling it “another ace from this singer-songwriter,” as Stereogum notes “McBryde excels at tough-minded character sketches with Southern-rock edges, but she’s also great at this kind of sentimental fare.”

The Arkansas native performed in her home state over the weekend and heads back out on the road next week before embarking on a run of additional headlining shows, festivals, two dates at the Grand Ole Opry, three dates with Eric Church on The Outsiders Revival Tour and seven shows with Jelly Roll this spring and summer. PhaseOne + Void of Vision Drop Sizzling "Eyes Wide Shut" Collab

Hot on the heels of explosive, 2022-released collabs with forward-thinking metal bands ERRA and Polaris, hard-hitting Aussie producer PhaseOne has now partnered with Void Of Vision for raucous new track titled "Eyes Wide Shut."

It's a radioactive cauldron of synths and beats, thunderous sounds, soaring vocals, and clawed-the-bowels-of-hell screams. It's a sonic thrill ride in which you will experience ALL of the feels. It's an excellent execution of an EDM x metalcore mashup, as PhaseOne has become known for!

Listen here

"The instrumental for this song was the first demo I made for this UNFD project," PhaseOne states. "It evolved many times before the final product, but the final result is something I'm very proud of! It is a metalcore-focused song with synth riffs mimicking the guitars throughout the entire track, giving it that electronic blend before breaking off into a full blown drum & bass section, which catches the listener off-guard in the best way possible. Jack [Bergin] from Void Of Vision sent me his vocal top line, and it was the cherry on top, as it really tied the track together. He nailed the assignment, fulfilling all the sections super tastefully with his wonderful vocal range."

"The idea of working alongside PhaseOne has always been something floating around VOV camp as we've delved further into the electronic world we're now within, whether it be between ourselves or with colleagues," says Bergin. "When we were approached for the collab, it was an absolute no brainer, not just in the aspiration sense, but also to continue pushing the envelope of areas where we can go as a band." He continues "It's been a rewarding year creating and releasing our most experimental work to date so getting to release this track which is somewhat of a culmination of every area we've been exploring sonically, was just a perfect way to keep up the momentum and leave people still curious as to what comes next. Getting to experiment a lot more with a more dynamic vocal range was such a huge confidence booster for myself and I can't thank PhaseOne enough for letting me tackle some new things in this one."

Bergin finishes, "Lyrically, 'Eyes Wide Shut' serves as a mental slap in the face for myself, a reminder to snap out of falling back into old habits which I've done so well of keeping out of the past few years. As I was personally wrapping the year that had been with a hectic touring schedule and leaving my old job, I felt like I was almost developing some kind of martyr complex amidst the burnout. When I hopped into the studio to record for this one, it was very easy to pen down that exact moment and place it within the art, kind of preparing me mentally to go into the new year with a clean slate."

As noted, PhaseOne is no stranger to collaborations in the rock and metal world, with the acclaimed EDM artist having previously teamed up with the likes of Northlane, Silverstein, Crystal Lake, Thy Art Is Murder, and countless others, with his distinct brand of hard hitting guitars welded to heavy-duty bass endearing him globally, racking up 75 million streams and a formidable live reputation in the process. And while his sensational emergence onto the scene back in 2013 saw him whip ears and crowds into a frenzy via his unique take on bass music production, his latest endeavor — a collection of collaborations with some of the hottest names in heavy music curated by UNFD — is seeing him reach new audiences and fresh creative heights.

"Icarus," the collaboration with Polaris, has already tallied nearly 1.5 million streams, while "World Unknown" with ERRA is just about to hit a million streams since it's December release.

MORE PHASE ONE COLLABS:

"Icarus" (With Polaris)

From Stylophone to Stylish Indie-Pop: London's Mari Dangerfield releases 'Love And Other Machines' album

"Sonically pleasing, lyrically clever, easily accessible, largely danceable and totally relatable... Recalling the best of such artists as Lowell, Chvrches, Kate Nash, Saint Etienne and Dubstar" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Instantly gripping that it draws you in completely, leaving its mark with no apologies... entire album is so artistically riveting, both technically and lyrically, that it takes you on the swells and waves of their journey" ~ Mobile Musician Magazine

“...truly catchy melodies and a stunning chorus (that is to die for) that will undoubtedly get stuck in your head” - American Pancake

“Definitely both melodic and somewhat quirky. It has an undeniable hook and a catchy synth melody” ~ Loudness

Rising London indie pop gem Mari Dangerfield has released her album 'Love And Other Machines', a collection of 12 catchy synth-driven alternative pop tunes, on CD via Dimple Discs. She also presents a series of fun buoyant videos, including for the uber-catchy 'Screen Time', driven by concern about technology and its effects, and the endearing and reverie-filled electro-ballad 'The Stars Were Wrong'.

Hailing from Ealing, West London, Mari Dangerfield is a multi-talented and colourful alternative / electronic pop artist, producer, writer and musician with a knack for fragile songs bursting with originality. Coining her sound "Quirkpop of the mind, body and laptop", her productions are characterised by rich vocal harmonies, catchy hooks and cinematic arrangements.

Broadly a concept album, 'Love And Other Machines' explores the connections between emotions and technology and is filled with love songs that use objects and gadgets as songwriting metaphors. Dangerfield made her first appearance on the music scene after winning a Mute Records video competition. In 2017, she also won a competition created by French composer Yann Tiersen, for which she covered his song ‘Porz Goret’, winning in the Best Non-Piano category.

Building on a string of self-released singles and videos since 2018, she has been able to build a devoted audience, both online and for her unique live shows. Already something of a polymath, she records, arranges and produces all her own material, as well as designing the visual content for artwork, new media and video. She’s also known for re-popularising the Stylophone, which features in her early singles and her live set.

Thematically, many of the songs are connected to technology (whether from exhaustion of its use or anguish from the way it highlights loneliness, dependency or one's psychological condition), with other songs about love and relationships. 'Love Machine' is the anchor that binds those themes tightly together, exploring how love can be a mechanical process (certainly on the biological and psychological side of things). 'Coping Mechanism''Virtually', 'Screen Time' and 'Webcam' continue this exploration.

“This album is so much more than just a collection of songs to me – It’s a sort of record of the first few years of my career, and an even longer period of my life. It reveals so much about me, personally and professionally. It feels like my artist's palette has been formed. If you really listen to these songs, you can get to know me on quite a deep level. There’s a lot of my reality embedded within the concept and the stories. I would have been lost without making music. It saved my mental wellbeing,” says Mari Dangerfield.

This album is as diverse in sound as it feels in how it’s travelled with me as I’ve developed as an individual over the past three years: No song sounds the same and, as I’m sure you’ll agree, it feels like I’m in a very different place at the end from where I was when it began. Undeniably, some of the songs delve into some quite personal struggles of mine and were inspired by my time in therapy between 2015 and 2018, as I came out of some incredibly dark places. I was so lucky to have been gifted all this time to learn about myself and my inner wounds, and not only improve as a person, but to be left with the tools to continue to reflect on my struggles, as undoubtedly, they would and do return in different guises."

'Love And Other Machines' is out now, available both on CD and digitally. It can be ordered via Bandcamp or elsewhere from all fine online music platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.

Brazil's BIKE present Amazonian psychedelic rock-prog trip on 'O Torto Santo' + MARI DANGERFIELD

"This is a fabulous band with positive, reflective and stimulating music... they seem very much to Brazil (and the world) what Tame Impala is to Australia. The light of the sun is here with slight strobes of dark trippiness caught between the trance-like guitar riffs" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

Brazil-based sonic adventurers BIKE have announced that they will release their new album ‘Arte Bruta’ on May 5 via Quadrado Mágico Records and Before Sunrise Records.

Ahead of that, they preview 'O Torto Santo', the intriguing lead single from this psych-rock, post-Tropicalia, noise rock collection. ‘Arte Bruta’ represents the process of self-analysis the band has undergone in recent years, resulting in the most daring leap in the group's career.

BIKE's trajectory has been one of long journeys, formed in 2014 by Julito Cavalcante (guitar and vocals), Diego Xavier (guitar and voice), Daniel Fumega (drums) and João Gouvea (bass).

“The lyrics for this song were inspired by self-analysis, where I understood that everything has two sides and that we have to be aware of what happens around us, strong enough to face difficulties and take advantage of every opportunity that life gives us,” says Julito Cavalcante.

“Both ‘O Torto Santo’ and this album move forward from our sound on previous albums. We managed to mix all the coolest things we had already done with new references and older ones that have not yet appeared on other albums. We also added new elements and handcrafted instruments in the songs. The idea was to sound artistic and raw at the same time.”

Turning heads and pleasing fans since launching, BIKE is the only Brazilian band that has released music ('Enigma Do Dente Falso'in 2014) through Columbia Records imprint 30th Century Records, founded by cult American producer Danger Mouse.

BIKE released their debut album '1943' in 2015, followed by 'Em Busca da Viagem Eterna' (2017), 'Their Shamanic Majesties' Third Request' (2018) and 'Quarto Templo' (2019). These releases have brought them critical acclaim.

To date, BIKE has played more than 400 shows in 16 Brazilian states, the venues ranging from larger stages to underground houses and festivals. They've also shared the stage with The Black Angels and Os Mutantes. The band also did three extensive international tours through France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Scotland and Wales and has performed at Primavera Sound (Spain), Nox Orae (Switzerland), MIL Lisbon (Portugal) and The Great Escape (England).

On March 1, 'O Torto Santo' will be available from fine digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the ‘Arte Bruta’ album (out on May 5) is also available for pre-orderBIKE will be performing at this year's SXSW Festival (March 13~18) and Treefort Music Fest (March 24-26). More live dates can be expected.

Produced by guitarist/vocalist Stephen Richards at The Loft in Saline, MI, SC\SSRS is the musical brainchild of Richards, recorded and written over the last decade, first as material for a new Taproot album, then with the intention of a solo release, before coming full circle back to Taproot.

Says Richards, “I had written most of this record to be the next Taproot release years ago, following The Episodes, when some health and other issues arose, we decided to take a break that turned into a longer than anticipated hiatus. After my mother's passing, I decided I needed to record these songs and share them with friends and fans that were interested in hearing what was next. I've spent the last 6 years doing as much as I could around my personal life to make it happen, and after all of the hard work, the other guys jumped behind me to support and we decided to get it out there and release what IS the new Taproot record SC\SSRS.”

Bassist Phil Lipscomb adds, “Steve had all these great songs recorded that he'd originally written for the next Taproot record that he was planning to just release independently as part of his solo project, but we started talking, and I encouraged him that we should just do it as a Taproot record and pay it the respect that it deserves. And that's exactly what we did.”

SC\SSRS will be available for pre-order 3/15 from taprootmerch.com.

Taproot also welcomes new guitarist Taylor Roberts, and the return of original drummer Jarrod Montague, who will join the band for select upcoming shows (with all other shows featuring longtime drummer Dave Coughlin of Sponge) including their “reunion” appearance at Blue Ridge Rock Fest in September, and the SC\SSRSalbum release party, which will mark the band’s first club show in 6 years, September 29th at The Machine Shop, in Flint, MI.

Tickets go on sale Friday morning at 10 am EST and a VIP Upgrade is available at taprootmerch.com.

Taproot also recently announced the release of Best of Besides, a 17-track collection of remastered demos and rarities, mastered by Richard Easterling (Tantric, Zen From Mars) in stores and digital May 5th, available for pre-order now at taprootmerch.com

Taproot formed in 1997 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and went on to sign to Atlantic Records, releasing their Ulrich Wild (Static-X, Pantera, Mindless Self Indulgence) produced debut album GIFT in 2000, followed by extensive touring including appearances on Ozzfest 2000 and 2001, and tours with Deftones, Incubus, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Disturbed, and Linkin Park.

The bands sophomore release Welcome, their first pairing with legendary producer Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Metallica, Korn, Primus) which Rolling Stonecalled, “a self-preserving transition from new metal to art metal”, went on to sell over 500,000 copies and spawn the hit Rock singles “Poem”, which peaked at #5 on the Mainstream Rock charts, and “Mine”, helping propel "Welcome" to over 50 million digital streams. The band would continue heavy touring with Alien Ant Farm, Chevelle, joining Disturbed on the Music As A Weapon Tour, and Linkin Park. Vocalist Stephen Richards would also appear on the track “P5hng Me A*wy” on Linkin Park’s 2002 remix album REANIMATION.

2005 saw the release of Blue-Sky Research, also helmed by Wright, the band’s final release for Atlantic, which spawned the hit radio single “Calling”, co-written with FAR vocalist Jonah Matranga, and saw the band collaborate with Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Nick Hexum (311), and Stephen Carpenter (Deftones), with heavy touring again, with the likes of Chevelle, Staind, P.O.D., and Flyleaf.

Taproot released several more full-length studio albums, including 2008’s Our Long Road Home (Velvet Hammer), 2010’s Plead The Fifth (Victory), with the single “Fractured (Everything I Said was True)” reaching the top 20 on the Active Rock Chart, and 2012’s The Episodes, while continuing to tour consistently through 2013, when the band went on an indefinite hiatus, returning only to play a sporadic handful of local Michigan shows, before reforming officially this year.

Taproot will play BLUE RIDGE ROCK FEST in September, and The Machine Shop in Flint, MI on 9/29.

Out of Brooklyn NY Comes Mag Electric with Their New Single "Thorn In My Side"

MAG ELECTRIC release their new single/video "THORN IN MY SIDE". Mag Electric plays music that can best be described as hard rock with a healthy dose of psychedelic influence. "Thorn In My Side" garners all of those motions put into place by a distinct bass and drum drive. The vocals were undeniably written and sung to fit the jam. This is a complete work formed with overtures of classic and psych rock. With their second release, it is time to give Mag Electric their due. "Thorn In My Side" is set to bring the rock loud and proud!

'"Thorn in my Side" is Mag Electric's hard rock expression of life's annoyances and problems. Brought about by daily struggles most everyone experiences in all walks of life, the song expresses a response to the thorn in your side in your own life. All wrapped up in a psychedelic hard rock package, "Thorn" figures to be song rock fans can relate to as we go through life picking thorns out of our own sides."' - William Peluso

"Thorn In My Side'' is the second single from NYC 3-piece Mag Electric. Building off the hard rock foundation the band laid with their debut "Iron Horse", "Thorn In My Side" sees the band explore more of their musical roots. The psychedelic influences of guitarist Jack Simchak are on full display, from beginning to end. In addition, the unique arrangement necessitated by the song's intro section showcases the band's appreciation of non-traditional song structures. Make sure to check out "Thorn In My Side", a song that could be an instant classic among fans of the genre.

ABOUT:

Mag Electric is a 3 piece hard rock band from Brooklyn. The band consists of Jack Simchak (guitar and vocals), Scott Meyer (bass), and Bill Peluso (drums). The three came together out of a shared love of old-school hard rock bands like QOTSA, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Soundgarden, and ZZ Top, as well as master musicians like Jeff Porcaro. Mag plays music that can best be described as hard rock with a healthy dose of psychedelic influence. Through each song written and performed the band strives to stay true to what they love about their musical roots while maintaining relevance to what they as individuals want to express. On the heels of their first release Roadie music mag said this about their debut single "Iron Horse", "What Jack Simchak (guitar and vocals), Scott Meyer (bass) and Bill Peluso (drums) did on Iron Horse, can be considered an immediate classic, such is the strength of its hard rock with seventies influences, but which borders on the lines of stoner rock, at certain times, showing enormous versatility in their heavy and adrenaline-filled sound, with an intense footprint and a lot of originality on the surface at all times." The band is currently gigging around NYC in support of their upcoming sophomore single "Thorn In My Side" coming out in the winter of 2023. Looking ahead you can find the band on the road touring the northeast this spring with more releases coming throughout the rest of 2023 so make sure to follow and stay tuned.

*Mag Electric will be going out on tour in late April-early May throughout the northeast going down as south as Virginia and as far north as Maine hitting many places in between. More information will be available on all band social media accounts as the dates get closer.
