WORMHOLE Rage Against the Machine on New Single

WORMHOLE warp brutal riffs and screeching dissonance into a signature tech-slam combo. So it's no surprise that the Baltimore band are huge gamers. Their new album 'Almost Human' was inspired by stomping fools at Metroid and Doom as much as headbanging to Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia.

Today, Wormhole are premiering a heroic new single with Slam Worldwide. Watch the monstrous visualizer for "Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact"
below.

'Almost Human' comes out 22 September. Pre-save the album

"This song has our hero struggling as they make their last stand," says Wormhole. "They're desperately trying to rally, but despite their rage, they just keep falling apart. Is the impossible really going to happen? Is our hero, the one we love and cherish so much, really going to lose?"

"Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact" might be the fastest and sludgiest song on 'Almost Human'. But it's definitely the most disgusting. Brothers Sanil and Sanjay Kumar scrape out stomach-churning riffs, while the rhythm section chews on the breakdown. Julian Kersey's death growl is so fierce and rotten, you can practically smell the stench wafting through your speakers.

When you invent your own genre, you can make the rules, and in space, no one can correct your math. If Wormhole’s excellent The Weakest Among Us was 50% tech death and 50% slamming brutal death metal, their Season of Mist debut is a veritable leveling up of the Baltimore-based act’s trademark “tech slam.” It’s the kind of record that can scramble your brain and give your neck a nice chiropractic workout; Almost Human feels like the future of extreme metal, dropped down from either outer space or delivered by Nintendo cartridge (more on that later).

So, what the hell exactly is “tech slam?” Well, the gleefully amorphous and unholy term comes from an ethos that guitarists Sanil “Noni” Kumar and Sanjay Kumar discovered and perfected over (probably) thousands of hours of Metroid and Doom games, as well as, you know, actual musical mastery. Almost Human, out September 22, 2023, is more powerful, more agile, and more confounding for pie-chart-enthusiasts than anything else that came before it. The sequel is always bigger, darker, and in this case, covered in much more pixelated space horror viscera. My Wormholio calculator puts their sound at 91% tech and 89% slam, with an increase in awesome stats somewhere in the 420% range. There’s also a clear emphasis on amplifying their dissonant death influence, the kind of eerie melodies that feel like being stomped on by Samus.

There’s a clear balance to everything on Almost Human: the songs are more adventurous while also being instantly memorable. No two songs sound alike, and that diversity in songcraft (level design?) sees Wormhole pushing and pulling along their tech and slam dials to figure out what’s best for the song; spoiler, it’s always riffs. What also becomes evident after repeated listens is how carefully the Kumar brothers understand a sense of place, humor, and a consistent vibe. This is still the same band that’s known for throwing on Saturday morning cartoons, and Almost Human continues to hammer home that Wormhole the musical entity is deadly serious, but the guys that make tech slam are not stoic creatures. There’s a warmth and sense of joy when chatting with them that only gets brighter when you ask their favorite Metroid game (that’s a question for a live show). So, what is this vibe they are chasing? Sanjay shares:

“The tech slam imagery is based on Metroid lore, Doom lore, and we haven't written a song about it yet, but Alien as well. Those three things are brutal sci-fi universes, so we're trying to embody that sound. The slam riffs, you can connect the brutal killing of stuff with the brutal chunky riffs; that's been a match that's existed since the nineties. So that's the slam part, and then the tech part was harder to fit that vibe, so we kind of do it differently. I lean into very dissonance-vibe stuff, like Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia. I think disso-death and heavy, they aren't usually paired together, even though they should be.”

“And then as far as chasing the vibe,” Noni adds, “I kind of go about it two ways. With the Metroid soundtrack or universe, that vibe, there's some dark and gloomy atmosphere, but there's a lot of pretty imagery as well. We wanted to find a way to match that very pretty, kind of out-there sound cohesively in songs with a very aggressive and guttural approach.”

Like another famous sci-fi horror masterpiece of a different media, Wormhole’s shifting, amorphous style is perfectly suited to blend in and amaze just about any fan of heavy music. That’s The Thing: they can pull off whatever they want, but it’s always boiled down to that tech slam vibe. Do you like tech, melody, breakdowns, atmosphere, or dissonance? Tech slam can fill whatever void you seek.

If previous albums were early generation, lower-resolution visions of tech slam, Almost Human is the 4K reboot, where you can see every pixel of terror and awe. Wormhole are absolutely ready for their closeup. Prepare your worms and your holes, tech slam is here to stay.

Singer-Songwriter Milky Day Releases Emotionally Charged EP Impulses

Milky Day, the talented singer-songwriter and producer known for his unique blend of R&B and soulful melodies, has released his highly anticipated EP, Impulses. Accompanying the release, Milky has launched the presale for his first Vinyl, which you can purchase here while supplies last. An EP that was primarily written during Covid isolation; Impulses is not only a reflection of internal conflict and struggles, it's also a project written from the perspective of Milky reflecting on all the craziness of the world, from the "window" of his trapped environment. As the world grappled with unprecedented challenges during the pandemic, he goes back and forth between tracks and even sometimes within a single

track, talking specifically about his personal struggles and then switching the narrative to a much larger questioning of purpose and existence. Inspired by raw honesty and life's inevitable struggles, this body of work presents a departure from Milky Day's classic themes of love, instead offering an emotionally charged exploration of life's complexities and challenges.

At the heart of this exploration is the EP’s focus track, "Temptation," which represents the above mentioned perspective within the opening line; "Waiting for better days.” The overall lyrics hint at a dialogue with oneself, questioning if he can be greater than his past self, battling the desire for growth while being trapped in a dark path. This track serves as a powerful introduction to the overarching theme of the EP - grappling with impulses and their consequences. "Aura" delves into the actions taken as a result of these urges, and it unravels the internal struggle between fleeting desires and the longing for stability and self-control. The haunting and poignant "Losing My Grip" follows, shedding light on the aftermath of impulsive decisions. Milky Day's soulful vocals resonate deeply, expressing the sense of loss and confusion that arises when one feels disconnected from life's purpose and meaning. "Rest in Peace" reflects on the transformation and growth that occurs when one decides to break free from the grip of impulsive tendencies, letting go of one's old self and embracing new beginnings. Finally, the EP concludes with the uplifting track "So Good." In this song, Milky Day explores the idea of finding peace with his mind, bidding farewell to negative thoughts, and embracing a brighter future. The song's cheerful vibe towards the end indicates a sense of hope and resolution after the tumultuous journey through impulses and self-discovery.

"Through my observations and life experiences, I realized that everyone struggles with their own inner demons in some shape or form - so I've been exploring more general themes of life struggles and suffering through my music, as you'll hear in my upcoming EP," says Milky Day, shedding light on the inspiration behind Impulses. With Impulses, Milky Day seeks to raise awareness about the shared nature of life's struggles and offer solace to those facing similar challenges. Through his candid and soul-baring approach, he aims to connect with his audience on a profound level, letting them know that they are not alone in their battles and that healing is possible.

Hailing from New Zealand and educated at Amherst College in the United States, where he graduated with a double major in Math and Music, Milky Day is a rising star in the R&B scene. His technical prowess in music production, influenced by his mathematical background, is a testament to his commitment to his craft. Simultaneously, his exceptional songwriting skills showcase his boundless creativity and ability to connect with his audience. Milky Day has released several popular tracks, including "You'll Be Alright" and "Take it Slow," which have gained significant traction on streaming

platforms, with over 47 million combined plays on Spotify alone. Stay tuned for more updates on Milky Day's musical journey and join him as he fearlessly bares his soul through his heartfelt compositions.

Within Temptation Announce New Album "Bleed Out" + Share Title Track — LISTEN

Bleed Out signifies a bold leap forward for the band. From contemporary, hard-hitting, and djenty riffs to soaring melodies displaying their symphonic roots, Within Temptation have created a sonic journey that fuses diverse musical styles and thought-provoking themes. This is an album that is as epic as it is unflinchingly outspoken, and now more than ever, this is a band who isn't afraid to make a stand on issues the members care about.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Within Temptation have shifted their focus from writing about personal emotions and societal subjects to tackling global injustices and reflecting the tumultuous state of the world in a way that other artists seem unable or unwilling to do.

Vocalist Sharon den Adel states, "The war in Ukraine has influenced us a lot. As artists we are inspired by the world, and we have this platform. We are storytellers, and I think as human beings, these are things we should be talking about."

Whilst songs such as "Wireless" and "We Go To War" examine the authoritarian aggression on display in Ukraine and other warzones, the title track itself addresses the plight of women fighting for their rights in Iran after the murder of Mahsa Amini.

den Adel explains, "I lived in Yemen when I was a kid. My parents lived in several countries in the Middle East, and I've visited them a lot when they were there. It's a different world. Due to my time there, I feel connected to that part of the world. I've been so incredibly impressed by the bravery of the young women there who've been burning their scarves knowing they were going to be thrown in prison or worse — it's heartbreaking."

The album also grapples with the complex issues around a woman's right to choose in recent single "Don't Pray For Me" and throughout, this impassioned and political focus is reflected in the intensity and heaviness of the music. Embracing a new era of musical exploration and lyrical depth, Within Temptation have pushed boundaries and showcased their artistic evolution, delivering a fist-in-the-air proclamation of both their moral convictions and their fearless approach to music.

Imbued with a vast dynamic range that plumbs the full depth of symphonic heaviosity, Bleed Out is as exuberantly heavy as it is politically profound.

For further details and to pre-order the album here

Bleed Out will be released in multiple physical formats and across all streaming via Within Temptation's own label Force Music Recordings in a joint venture with Bertus Distribution for worldwide distribution and Amped Distribution for the U.S. and Canada.

CYHRA Release Third Album "The Vertigo Trigger"

Four years after their last studio album No Halos in Hell, CYHRA proudly present their new album “The Vertigo Trigger.” The Swedes' third full-length has been released today, and it reflects exactly what the melodic metal band stands for: ear-splitting riffs, catchy choruses and plenty of melodies that make the band truly stand out.

The band based around singer Jake E (ex-AMARANTHE) and guitarists Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT/ex-IN FLAMES) Euge Valovirta (ex-SHINING),  drummer Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT), and guitarist Marcus Sunesson (ex-THE CROWN / ex-ENGLE) demonstrate that they haven’t slowed down. With “The Vertigo Trigger,” CYHRA has not only further developed their distinctive sound, but also proven how diverse they are. The best example for this is the latest single “Ashlight,” which combines hard-hitting elements with a gentle attitude. And if that wasn't enough, the Swedes also deliver a new music video for the latest single to celebrate the album release.

Watch the music video for ''Ashlight" below.

Vocalist Jake E comments:
“It feels amazing to FINALLY have new music to release again! We put a lot of effort into finding out what the future of Cyhra's music was to be and I must say I am overwhelmed with the result. Both with the album and also the songwriting!. I think that we have made a fantastic follow-up to both of our first two albums, but also at the same time we’ve managed to modernized the songwriting. I can assure you that no Cyhra fan will be disappointed!"

Drummer Alex Landenburg adds:
“To me, this is a perfect successor to our first two records. It has all the Cyhra trademarks, but it’s a bit more Rock’n’Roll, more raw, in the way we recorded it. And on top of that, Euge’s great mix and Jacob Hansen’s mastering are a wicked combination!”

Guitarist Euge Valovirta about the new song:
"This is the first album we produced by ourselves and it turned out to be just like I heard it in my head before we even started to record it. We still wanted to have (long time producer) Jacob Hansen's input on it so he did the mastering and I did the mixing. I'm very proud of it. And us. Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue."

Marcus Sunesson adds:
“It’s the first of the three Cyhra albums that I played guitar on and also contributed to the songwriting. It was a fun and very creative process, but also challenging since we wanted to break new ground in order to make the best Cyhra album possible. I am so happy and proud of this beast of an album! This time we took a deep breath and dove down to explore a slightly darker, more progressive and modern side of ourselves. Yet still sounding like the Cyhra you all know and love. This album will definitely turn some heads. You will love it!”

Jesper Strömblad comments as well:
“It's so great to have a new album around the corner. We have kept the essential Cyhra sound, but at the same time upgraded and updated it a bit. I love what Euge has done to the mix and I know you are not gonna be disappointed!”

Stream or purchase “The Vertigo Trigger” here:

Recorded in the summer/autumn of 2022, “The Vertigo Trigger” is the band's darkest album to date. The album was entirely self-produced and mixed by guitarist Euge Valovirta, whilst the mastering was handled by long-term producer Jacob Hansen. This new album offers fans the classic CYHRA sound, full of the band's trademarks, but fresh and refined. The Swedes have modernised their song writing meaning that no CYHRA fan will be disappointed, making The Vertigo Trigger a more than worthy successor to their first two albums.

And although guitarist Jesper Strömblad isn’t a part of CYHRA's live shows currently, he was deeply involved in the writing and recording process of the album. Therefore, the band can hardly wait for his return as soon as he is ready again.

CYHRA is:
Jake E – lead vocals
Euge Valovirta – lead guitar (and bass)
Alex Landenburg – drums
Marcus Sunesson – guitars
Jesper Strömblad – guitars (and bass)

Cody Hibbard Tributes Military Families in “Bend,” Available Now

Droptine’s Cody Hibbard began his unlikely path to music as a Naval Academy cadet, before an injury sidelined his service dreams and ultimately led him to pick up a guitar. While his career trajectory changed, his deep-rooted respect for the military remained, inspiring his latest cut, “Bend,” out now.

“‘Bend’ shows the bond between someone who has gone through chaos and the person that gets them through everything,” Hibbard shares. “It’s a song about vulnerability and admitting that sometimes the only thing to do is to ask for help.”

Self-written by Hibbard and produced by Julian King and Jim Catino, the battle worn track is an ode to the spouses of military members, acknowledging their sacrifice and dedication to weathering through life’s roughest storms. A willow tree serving as the song’s metaphorical backdrop, its ability to bend rather than break while being battered by winds encapsulates the emotional and psychological toll returning from deployment often has on families.

        This road's been narrow
Took a few wrong turns to get this far, ain’t no one’s hero
But baby you can hide these scars, cause like those willows
I run stronger in the wind, when we’re holdin hand in hand, you got my soul on the mend
        So Baby bend

To coincide with the release, Hibbard continues to highlight the stories of real families who have lived through these experiences with his interview series
“The Heroes Behind The Song,” available on YouTube beginning Monday, Aug. 21. “The Heroes Behind The Song” features candid conversations between spouses, delving into the hidden challenges military families face while shining a light on the battle that follows them.

Alkaloid Reach Critical Mass on New Single

No one has conquered the far reaches of the metalverse quite like Alkaloid. The Bavarian band have crafted songs about what lies beneath the Arctic crust, on top of an ongoing, multi-part saga about a galactic civilization that ascends to god-like levels of domination.

Today, Alkaloid are releasing the latest chapter in the Dyson Saga. "Numen" is a cosmic seven-minute yarn of how a supermassive black hole came to burp up an unheard-of cosmic artifact that gives both the song - and their new album - its name.

Watch the heady lyric video below.

'Numen is out on September 15. Pre-order the album
HERE. Pre-save the album HERE.

"We proudly present the title track of our new album, and the first of three new chapters in the ongoing Dyson saga up the Kardashev Scale", says galactic leader Morian from Alkaloid's space station via interstellar transmission. "Through the mindbogglingly complex manipulation of mass, electromagnetism and the structure of spacetime itself over countless aeons, "Numen" transforms into an acceleration hub for sentinel worldlets sent toward other galaxies".

"Numen" amasses sounds from across the spectrum of extreme metal: alien growls mixed with luminous cleans, drum fills that hurtle between mind-bending bass grooves, and riffs that crunch with the force of asteroids while also swirling like the milky way.

"Musically, I mangled materials inspired by Rainbow and Pink Floyd, as well as Meshuggah into a polyrhythmic context, while still staying true to the sound of our Dyson world," says Morian. "The subtle but continuous disturbance of the main 12/16 groove by a stubborn 7/16 layer is a hint at the massive forces at play in the story".

Progressive extreme metallers Alkaloid prepare to unfurl their new many-tentacled full-length, 'Numen' via Season of Mist. Featuring members of Triptykon, Obscura, Dark Fortress, and Obsidious, the Germany-based quartet of Morean (vocals, guitars, concepts), Hannes Grossmann (drums), Christian Münzner (guitars), and Linus Klausenitzer (bass) construct upon, expand away from, and journey between previous full-lengths The Malkuth Grimoire (2015) and Liquid Anatomy (2018) on Numen. In every respect, Alkaloid recommence the purposeful warp of various metallic genres they dimensionally blur. Tracks like the video single for "Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” and “Numen” posit heavy cosmological/Lovecraftian theoretic themes on top of musically-adept songs that are accessible yet undeniably intricate.

“We’ve all been around the block a few times by now as metal musicians,” says songsmith Morean. “The feeling that we’ve outgrown the narrow niche of pure extreme metal was a main motivator to start this band in the first place, ten years ago. The ‘prog’ tag is handy for us because, per definition, it already encompasses a wider range of possible styles and influences we can get away with than any one specific metal genre. This means we could ensure from the beginning that we’ll always be able to write whatever we want, no matter how crazy our ideas become. The heart of this band is always the songwriting, and we all like complex and virtuosic music in all its diverse manifestations. However, we do share a love for death metal as the smallest common denominator in the band, and we wanted to make sure no one thinks that just because we include melodies, clean guitars, and influences from other genres, we’d automatically sacrifice the brutality and relentless esthetic of extreme metal.”

'Numen' was written during the pandemic, but it was planned long before the scourge of disease wracked humanity. As a result, the songwriting sessions were predictably not "in the room" but over the Internet after the band members had isolated and worked on their constituent parts. Demos flew back and forth. Then, Tunker left amicably for personal reasons. Alkaloid could’ve folded, but the close-knit group soldiered on. They intensely relied on the professionalism and dependability of the collective to drive 'Numen' to completion. The complications of the two years it took to sonically inscribe the album into aeonic vastness didn’t fragment the end result. Instead, the process accelerated Alkaloid’s lambent, eldritch explorations. “Clusterfuck,” “The Cambrian Explosion,” “Numen,” and “A Fool’s Desire” expertly bridge the past to the future, where Alkaloid’s originative, daedal storytelling captures (and holds hostage) the imagination.

The title, 'Numen', got its start at the dawning of Alkaloid. It’s a word that Morean fell in love with immediately, and he knew it had a place in his creative endeavors. Whereas The Malkuth Grimoire talked about combining existing elements into new structures, and Liquid Anatomy dealt with the creation of new elements, 'Numen' tries to look at the universe from a kind of meta-perspective from an imaginary god, as if the space that everything happens in was given a voice and a role as observer and shaper of everything that happens. In it, sentient panspermic mycelia are swathed in Lovecraftian nastiness—like Shub-Niggurath and the Fungi from Yuggoth—while the new Dyson chapters interpret the aspiration to reach divinity rather literally, reshaping the entire galaxy by manipulating spacetime itself. Desperate to escape their doom, the Cephalopods from previous songs have returned, too. 'Numen' is dense but not impenetrable. In fact, from the first moments of opener, "Qliphosis," to the final contemplation of closer "Alpha Aur,” Alkaloid prove to be more charismatic than ever.

PRIDE IN PIECES Release Official Music Video for New, Alt-Metal Single "SURVIVAL"!

Denver, CO based, Alternative Metal band PRIDE IN PIECES has released the official music video for their new single, "SURVIVAL". Directed by JEREMY STEGMAN, and the mile high quartet's third single since reforming in 2022, "SURVIVAL" inspires with roaring, contemplative lyrics delivered alongside thundering riffs and blood pounding bass.

"'SURVIVAL' is a song about just that. It’s a fight to want to stay alive for many people, and many have lost that battle. Only through deep connection and a reason to live will we survive. Life & Death are one decision away from each other, the edge of a knife. If this song brings any hope, then we will count that as success. " (LEVI JOHNSON – Bass and Vocals)

Purchase / Stream "SURVIVAL" Online

PRIDE IN PIECES (PiP) was formed in 2010, in Denver, Colorado. Taking 2nd place in the 2014 Best of the West Battle of the Bands, and winning the Heart for Hayden Battle of the Bands, PiP recorded their full length album, ‘ Reformation, which was mixed and mastered by BRAD SMALLING at Evergroove Studios. That album was released in 2016, but the band took a hiatus soon after that release in 2017.

PRIDE IN PIECES is
LEVI JOHNSON – Bass and Vocals
DAVID CULBERT – Guitar
STEVEN FIGUEROA – Drums
AARON GRAVES – Guitar and Vocals

After taking some time off, Stevie and Levi starting families, and adding David Culbert into the mix, PRIDE IN PIECES reformed in early 2022. JOE MANSMAN AND THE MIDNIGHT REVIVAL BAND Blow Up The NEW WAVE OF CLASSIC ROCK Scene with “Empire State”!

Glens Falls NY based Bluesy Rock band JOE MANSMAN AND THE MIDNIGHT REVIVAL BAND has released the official music video for their single, "Empire State." With the single produced by the band and engineered and mixed and mastered by BRANDON KAPOOR at Skyfall Studio in Greenwich NY, the REILLY BALCOM (Another Visual Banger) "Empire State" showcases the band's incredible, high energy performance that has seen them share the stage with such rock and metal legends as TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION, SMASHMOUTH, WARRANT, Texas Hippie Coalition, SmashMouth, Warrant, Dokken, Jackyl, Scott Stapp, Thrice, Quiet Riot, SCOTT STAPP, THRICE, and QUIET RIOT. Fast paced, energetic, and fully party-hearty, "Empire State" is a full on rock banger with soaring vocals, thunderous guitar riffs, and pulse pounding bass, demanding fans to get up and move!

“’Get me on the waves, sail me right back home.’ That chorus just poured out of me, out of all of us. I think it was one of the more rare moments we connected on a level where we were all living the same story from five different viewpoints and longing to cascade the want of returning to something familiar and normal. But not in the sense of time and place. Rather, It's a song about feeling exonerated.” - JOE MANSMAN

“'Empire State' is an outstanding track that taps into the best parts of the classic rock era and brings it into today with horsepower to spare. Listen just once and you’ll understand what got Mansman on major bills with acts like Texas Hippie Coalition, SmashMouth, Warrant, Dokken, Jackyl, Scott Stapp, Thrice, and Quiet Riot. The band recorded the basic tracks for the song live in the studio, which breaks from their usual method, and it allowed them to achieve their high-octane live sound in the studio. Lyrically, the song is an open-ended homecoming story that a lot of people will feel in their soul." - MARTINE EHRENCLOU, Rock & Blues Muse

JOE MANSMAN AND THE MIDNIGHT REVIVAL BAND are a blistering display of dangerously skilled rock and rollers. Where few bands still don the mantle, these renegades carry the torch, combining attitude, swagger, colossal guitar solos, and boisterous lyrics into a crucible of sleaze rock, glam rock, southern rock, and heavy metal.

Helmed by the group's eponymous front-man, the self proclaimed 'wayward son' has been torching audiences since 2014 with a haughty and distinguished charisma that demands the attention of the room, leading them to share sold out stages across the US alongside JACKYL, WARRANT, DOKKEN, QUIET RIOT, TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION, SCOTT STAPP, and many more renowned acts in hard rock.

Their most recent EP, Live For Thrills, showcases the group at it’s finest, employing a rich and dynamic change in pace that ethereally serves dramatic and memorable vocal hooks over a soaring landscape of guitars and keys. The EP also gave birth to the band's first rock radio single, "TAKE IT EASY," and garnered them a position on Spotify's Top Hundred list of most streamed songs for new classic rock in North America in June 2022.

Wolves At the Gate Announce "Lost In Translation" Covers Album + Share "Pardon Me"

WOLVES AT THE GATE ANNOUNCE LOST IN TRANSLATION COVERS ALBUM OUT SEPTEMBER 22 VIA SOLID STATE RECORDS

BAND SHARES COVER OF "PARDON ME"

Earlier this summer, WOLVES AT THE GATE shared their awesome cover of Twenty One Pilots' "
Heathens."

They followed it up with their take on "
Attack" by Thirty Seconds to Mars and then their version of "Stupid Deep" by Jon Bellion.

Now, they have announced Lost In Translation, a full covers album featuring these three songs and several more...

...Like their version of Incubus' smash hit "
Pardon Me."

Listen to the song and watch the visualizer
below

Lost In Translation arrives on September 22 via Solid State Records. Pre-order it
here.

"An obvious theme through these covers is the unique nature of each one of these artists, and Incubus is no exception," says vocalist/guitarist Steve Cobucci about the latest cover drop. "We all have memories of when we first heard the band and how inspiring their creativity is. Personally, I remember buying their Live at Red Rocks DVD that I watched more times than I can count. I just remember thinking about how incredible Brandon's singing was for an hour-and-a-half long set. I also couldn't believe how Mike was creating such incredible and huge sounds as the only guitar player."

He continues, "It's difficult to explain what Incubus sounds like because they are so unique. It's always a bold move as an artist to create something so distinct and original, but an incredible payoff when you have talented musicians like the guys in Incubus. Mike Einziger's guitar playing is just as incredible as Brandon Boyd's singing. Their artistry on the song made it both challenging and exciting to run with. Tracking this song was fun because we all got to do things musically that we haven't explored much with our own music. The intricate vocals on the verse, the chop and stop drum beat, and powerful chorus were elements that we enjoyed recreating and interpreting."

ABOUT WATG:
Unrestricted by genre conventions and determined to raise the bar with each successive album, Wolves at the Gate deliver music and a message with a firm commitment to passion and authenticity. Tirelessly seeking out the light in seemingly overwhelming darkness, the Midwestern post-hardcore group balances soaring melodies with unrelenting metal and emotional heaviness. Eulogies arrives with confidence and forward motion born from reflection, introspection, and isolation.

The small-town Ohio-based five-piece band built the foundations for the album's 13 songs during the pandemic shutdown, shaping diverse tracks like "Shadows," "Peace That Starts The War," and "No Tomorrow" into stunning confessional epics. Wolves at the Gate's audience treasures each of the band's best-known songs for the emotional depth, passionate catharsis, and evocative power contained in them, as evidenced by the millions of streams for WATG anthems. These include "Counterfeit," "A Voice in the Violence," and "Drifter" (from 2019's Eclipse); "Asleep," "Flickering Flame," and "War in the Time of Peace" (from 2016's Types & Shadows); "Relief," and "The Bird and the Snake" (from 2014's VxV); "Dead Man," "The Harvest," and "Slaves" (from 2012's Captors), and "Heralds" (from 2011's We Are The Ones).

Plain White T's Share New Single "Would You Even"

Announced Friday, two-time Grammy-nominated rock group Plain White T's are back with their latest single "Would You Even," out now. Listen here.

Leaning back into their pop-punk roots, Plain White T's treat fans to a new sonic bop — fit with an undeniably catchy chorus and diary-honest lyrics. Known for their charming melodies and punk-centric guitar tones, "Would You Even" once again boasts the band's ability to write memorable hooks and intoxicating hits. Fans can hear this latest single, along with "Spaghetti Tattoo" and "Happy," on all streaming platforms today.

"I always have this fear, when I'm creating something that I really love, that what if I die, and these songs I'm writing and pouring my heart into will just be stuck on my iPhone forever," says Higgenson. "Never to be heard. Never to even get the chance to be hits. That's the basis of 'Would You Even.' I was dating someone and I would drive home super late sometimes after hanging out with them, and then the next morning, I would think about how tired I was, and how stupid and dangerous that was. And that led me to the question, 'Was this person even worth the risk? Would she do the same for me?'"

The band previously dropped "
Spaghetti Tattoo" and "Happy."

The Plain White T's were in the news recently with a beautifully heartwarming story of Higgenson performing their signature smash "Hey There Delilah" bedside for a cancer-stricken fan who was named after the track. Read more at
CNN, PEOPLE, and Newsweek.

ABOUT PLAIN WHITE T'S:
Since emerging in 1997, Chicago quartet Plain White T's — Tom Higgenson [vocals], Tim Lopez [lead guitar, vocals], Mike Retondo [bass], and De'Mar Hamilton [drums] — have remained visible and viable. They have consistently delivered unforgettable pop rock anthems that take up real estate in your brain for months at a time. They have amassed over 2.7 billion total global streams, earned two Grammy nominations, and collected several Platinum-plus and Gold certifications across their impressive catalog. Their signature single "Hey There Delilah" went quadruple-platinum, topped the Billboard Hot 100, and earned the pair of aforementioned GRAMMY® nominations in 2008 — for "Song of the Year" and "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal." They have made their pop culture mark by appearing on highly visible shows such as the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Sesame Street, iCarly, 90210, Beavis & Butthead, and Frankenweenie, all the while nabbing press accolades from TIME, Billboard, ESPN, Rolling Stone, AV Club, MTV, MSNBC, and more. Plain White T's have proven to be a reliable musical force, as well as a career band that shows no sign of stopping or slowing down.

Movements Release "RUCKUS!" + Share "I Hope You Choke!" Video

NEW ALBUM RUCKUS! OUT NOW VIA FEARLESS RECORDS

Southern California post-hardcore band MOVEMENTS — Patrick Miranda, vocals; Ira George, guitar; Spencer York, drums; and Austin Cressey, bass — dropped their new album, RUCKUS!, today, August 18, via Fearless Records. Get the album, produced by Will Yip,
here.

The band has shared the video for "I Hope You Choke!" to celebrate the momentous release! Watch it
here.

Movements have mastered the art of push and pull dissonance throughout the course of their career and that signature style is patently evident on "I Hope You Choke!" Tinny, tense guitar work, alternately sung and talked lyrics, and a gang chant of "I hope you choke" perfectly capture sonic storm-and-stress, the tension-and-release style that fans know and love.

It's been a whirlwind few years for Movements as evidenced by the fact that band's 2020 album No Good Left to Give debuted at #3 on the Alternative chart and their streams have doubled since then with 200 million total streams in the U.S. alone. However, despite their success, the Southern Californian act have constantly reinvented themselves since forming in 2015 and the band's third full-length RUCKUS! sees the post-hardcore quartet taking their sound to expansive and sometimes unexpected places. Produced by longtime collaborator Will Yip (Circa Survive, Code Orange), the album fuses post-hardcore and punk influences with a healthy dose of pop songcraft to create an album that defies scene conventions in favor of something wholly unique. In order to accomplish this, the band made three extended trips to Yip's Studio 4 in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, to write and record the collection of songs that would end up as RUCKUS! "I truly don't believe that it could have been a more streamlined process and I don't think we've ever written music that's as good as what we put together for this record," Miranda explains. RUCKUS! sees the band integrating decidedly different influences such as Gorillaz and Strokes into their sound to challenge people's preconceptions.

Movements will hit the road in September and October on a headline run. All dates are below.

Coldwards Release New Single "Bad News" + Official Music Video

Alternative Metal band COLDWARDS released their new single "Bad News" along with the official music video to all major platforms via Wake Up! Music Rocks. "Bad News" is the title track from their forthcoming EP Bad News.

"'Bad News' is about losing touch with someone you care about when they've become surrounded by people that change them for the worse and become blinded by loyalty to people that will never reciprocate it," says the band.

The track is a colossal hit geared to immediately impact radio – with that modern rock edge combined with an essence of the familiar classic nu Rock sound fans of Paul Crosby have come to expect.

The band plans on touring this fall and hitting festivals in early 2024.

Coldwards (pronounced Cold-Words) is a five-piece rock band from Houston Texas comprised of drummer Paul Crosby of Grammy nominated + Gold and Platinum awarded Saliva (Click Click Boom, Always, Your Disease), as well as Paul's sons Sean Crosby (Vocals/Guitar) and Zac Crosby (Vocals/Electronics). Together they make a powerhouse of heavy yet melodic riffs with immensely catchy hooks. Coldwards are a very percussive and vocal dominated style of music with chunky riffs and most of all deep lyrics with a message for today’s youth.

A LIGHT DIVIDED Release New Single "RAIN" to all major platforms!; Announce August Tour Dates with Rise Among Rivlas!

A LIGHT DIVIDED released their latest single "RAIN" to all major platforms on August 11, 2023. The single was produced by Kile Odell (Nita Strauss, Motionless in White, Saul). In support of the single, the band will hit the road this August with Rise Among Rivals.

“The concept of 'Rain' originally came about in 2021 but it never felt quite right. After a series of reworks with longtime producer Kile Odell and Zach Williams, we decided to strip it down and put all the focus on the vocals and the message. For me, that was the most important part. We also liked the idea of hiding these dark, sarcastic lyrics inside an upbeat song. Lyrically, 'Rain' is about the silent suffering of battling a depressive episode while simultaneously seeming okay to to the outside world,” says the band's vocalist Jaycee Clark.

A Light Divided is led by the powerhouse vocals of front woman Jaycee Clark with instrumentation from drummer Adam Smith along with guitarists Doug Weichbrodt and Scott Vallina. Together, they create a unique blend of rock and metal with a pop sensibility.

Through their electrifying live performances, A Light Divided has garnered a devoted following, steadily growing their underground army of fans. Their high-energy shows have earned them coveted spots at major festivals such as Vans Warped Tour, Blue Ridge Rock Fest, and Cadott, WI's Rock Fest. Additionally, they have shared the stage with esteemed national acts like In This Moment, Motionless In White, August Burns Red, Lacuna Coil, Diamante, 10 Years and many more.

In addition to their successful touring endeavors across the country, their most recent single “Inhale/Exhale” impressively climbed to #9 on the billboard top singles chart beating their previous single “Radio Silence” debut at #55.

BLAKE SHELTON AND GWEN STEFANI RELEASE REDEFINED VERSION OF “LOVE IS ALIVE” OFF A TRIBUTE TO THE JUDDS

Today, multi-award-winning artists Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani released their rendition of The Judds’ iconic ballad “Love Is Alive.” The track serves as the first single off of A Tribute to The Judds, the highly anticipated compilation record in celebration of the beloved duo's 40thanniversary, to be released on October 27 on BMG.

Nearly 40 years since its original release on the best-selling album Why Not Me, and reproduced by
Brent Maher, “Love Is Alive” seamlessly intertwines the timeless production of the original track coupled with the soulful vocals of Shelton and Stefani. Mastering the combination of Pop and Country, the track infuses both artists' signature sound while paying homage to the original song. You can listen to “Love Is Alive” below.

“I have always admired The Judds, and I am so thrilled to be part of this album,” said Gwen Stefani. "'Love Is Alive' is an iconic track and performing the song with Blake is a perfect way to honor their timeless discography.”

"The Judds are one of the greatest country acts of our lifetime. 80’s country music is my favorite decade, and I’ve been singing Judd songs for as long as I can remember,” said Blake Shelton. "‘Love Is Alive’ was on their first album, and we wanted to stick pretty close to the original version, and Gwen just nails the vocal. We’re thrilled to be part of this tribute album.”

“What a treat it was to re-record this wonderful song written by Kent Robbins. All I can say about Gwen’s vocal is, it’s perfect, and Blake’s harmony parts are wonderful. I absolutely love how this recording turned out,” said Brent Maher. “I think we captured the original essence of the song with Don Potters acoustic part and Eddie Bayers groove. Richard Bennett’s Electric guitar and Bobby Ogdin’s Keyboards gave this track the fresh vibe we wanted. Glen Worf’s bass part sealed the deal.”

SiM Drops New Single + AI Music Video "HiDE AND SEEK" Taken From Upcoming New Album 'PLAYDEAD' Out On September 27 (via UNFD)

Genre-blending Japanese metal, punk, and reggae outfit SiM has today dropped their latest offering "HiDE AND SEEK" and the accompanying music video, created by AI visual artists The Dor Brothers. Drawing inspiration from a previously recorded reggae melody created during the lockdown in 2020, "HiDE AND SEEK" morphed into its final form when SiM vocalist MAH reconstructed the verse, changed the key of the melody, and added a chorus on a track that was originally written for the band's previous album "THANK GOD, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF WAYS TO KiLL ENEMiES". Luckily, today's release can be found on SiM's upcoming new album 'PLAYDEAD' out on Friday, September 27 (via UNFD). When asked about the lyrical inspiration of the track, MAH shared:

"In [the children's game] ‘HiDE AND SEEK’, the equivalent Japanese phrase “Mouiikai” by the seeker is “Ready or Not”. But [in the Japanese version] the following response “Madadayo” meaning “not-yet (ready)” doesn’t exist in the English version of the game suggesting that the demons will come looking for you regardless of whether you’re “Ready or Not.”

Speaking about the incredible "HiDE AND SEEK" AI video, MAH commented:

“This is SiM’s very first AI-Generated music video. Will AI truly take over mankind one day?! I want people to embrace that “AI-nxiety” and enjoy the video.”

After making waves with their smash-hit singles "The Rumbling" and "Under The Tree" featured on the massively popular anime series "Attack On Titan", SiM has since released their lead single "RED", the theme song for the new season of the Netflix anime series "Kengan Ashura". Most recently, the band released a visualizer for "DO THE DANCE". Listen to "HiDE AND SEEK" here, watch the video below, and pre-save 'PLAYDEAD' here.

SiM has just wrapped up having sponsored their very own music festival in Japan dubbed Dead Pop Festival which was streamed by Amazon Music Live. Now, US fans will have their opportunity to see the band's high-energy show on the road on the Jackpot Juicer North American Tour (with Dance Gavin Dance, Rain City Drive, and Within Destruction), beginning on August 24 in Tempe, AZ. About Steve Hackett
Steve Hackett joined Genesis at the beginning of 1971 and gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the band’s classic line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Hackett’s intricate guitar work was a key element of Genesis’ albums from Nursery Cryme (1971) to Wind And Wuthering (1977) including the classic Selling England By The Pound.

After leaving Genesis at the end of 1977, Hackett’s solo career, which now spans more than 30 albums, has demonstrated his extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar. Hackett is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer and this was recognized in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR.

Hackett’s compositions take influences from many genres, including jazz, classical and blues. For his later studio works The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019) Hackett has explored the influences of world music. Recent tours have seen Hackett celebrate his time with Genesis including a spectacular 2018 tour in which he realized a long-held ambition to perform the works of Genesis live with his band and an orchestra. The lockdown enforced by the 2020 global pandemic has proven to be a particularly creative period for Hackett. He began by releasing Selling England by the Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith, a live recording of 2019’s hugely successful tour celebrating that Genesis classic together with the 40th anniversary of one of his most-loved solo albums. Lockdown also gave Hackett the opportunity to write and record two new studio albums, the UK Classical Chart hit Under A Mediterranean Sky and the forthcoming Surrender of Silence.

In 2021, Steve and his band returned to touring, celebrating the classic Genesis live album ‘Seconds Out’, on what was one of his most successful tours to date.
