Caitlyn Smith Releases Vulnerable Track, "The Great Pretender"

Self-Produced Third Album, HIGH & LOW, Due April 14, 2023
On Monument Records

After completing her new album High & Low and turning the self-produced body of work in to her label, Caitlyn Smith wrote a song so powerful and important that the only answer was to cut it overnight, alone in her home. The recording’s vulnerability and isolation serves The Great Pretender,” an appropriate closing track for her third studio project arriving April 14 on Monument Records.

“‘The Great Pretender’ is about the mask I’m guilty of putting on, pretending everything is perfect, when in reality, it’s anything but,” says the Critics Choice winner. “I wrote this song after High & Low was finished and turned in, but I knew it was too important to not have on the album, so I recorded it in my house alone.”

Nobody knows I’m crying in a bathroom stall
I’m living in a house of cards about to fall
But I make them believe that I’ve never been better
        I am the great pretender
        I am the great pretender

“I’d realized that I’d grown into this version of myself that only wanted to show and talk about the highs and became quite dependent on keeping up this façade that I have it all together,” Smith shares. “Real life is gritty, and wild, and never perfect, and it’s given me so much freedom to be able to be more vulnerable not always put on a happy face, and be honest and unafraid of the more difficult feelings.”

Written by Smith with Bob DiPiero and Joe Clemmons, you can listen to “The Great Pretender” below.

The additional six new tracks balance 2022’s critically-acclaimed High, celebrated by NPR as “her most fully realized project yet,” with High & Low capturing the full picture of who Smith is as an artist and as a creator – where embracing the yin and yang simply makes you more human.

In addition to celebrating the release of High last year, the Minnesota native earned her first Academy of Country Music Awards nomination for New Female Artist of the Year. With an upcoming performance at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium's "Rock the Ryman" concert on March 1, Smith announces more shows soon.

L.S. Dunes Share "Past Lives" Video + Announce Tour Dates

L.S. Dunes — guitarist Frank Iero, guitarist Travis Stever, vocalist Anthony Green, bassist Tim Payne, and drummer Tucker Rule — have announced two special Southern California club dates this spring: April 8 at Pappy + Harriet's in Pioneertown, CA and April 9 at 1720 Club in downtown Los Angeles.

The celebrated hardcore punk band has also shared a brand-new video for "Past Lives," the title track of their acclaimed debut album, Past Lives, released late last year via Fantasy. The blistering live video features footage captured during L.S. Dunes' triumphant sold-out North American tour in November + December of 2022.

Watch "Past Lives" video below.

Listen to/purchase Past Lives here.

"We couldn't be more excited to announce our upcoming California shows," Iero states. "We've wanted to play at Pappy + Harriet's since we started L.S. Dunes and we're thrilled to finally make it a reality. Can't wait to see all our lost souls out there."

"A staggering collection of progressive-rock and post-hardcore songs" — Alternative Press

"A tour-de-force of post-hardcore" — Heavy Consequence

"An urgent and flat-out fantastic record" — Brooklyn Vegan

L.S. Dunes recently completed their first-ever run of European shows last month, playing to fervent crowds in London, Glasgow, Manchester, and Birmingham in the UK, before finishing up in Amsterdam, Paris, Cologne, Berlin, and Prague. In addition to the new dates, the band's previously announced shows include the Adjacent Music Festival in Atlantic City, NJ on May 28, and five shows on the Sad Summer Festival tour: Jacksonville, and Clearwater FL, on July 6 and 7, Alpharetta, GA on July 8, Portsmouth, VA on July 11 and Baltimore, MD on July 12.

Find the complete tour itinerary here. More dates will be announced soon.

Produced by Will Yip (Turnstile, Circa Survive, Quicksand), Past Lives navigates themes of fearlessness, dependency, nonconformity, and impermanence in a boundary pushing synthesis of post-hardcore and punk that has established L.S. Dunes as one of the rock's most compelling new arrivals. From the gripping, theatrical opener "2022" and the blazing "Bombsquad," to the pummeling, expansive "Permanent Rebellion," and the disarming album closer, "Sleep Cult," Past Lives is an electrifying and emotional ride.

After the shock of the pandemic shutdown, the close friends and mutual admirers urgently realized that "tomorrow" is not promised. "We never knew if we would ever get to play these songs together; in fact, none of us lifelong musicians really knew if we'd ever be able to play music for a live audience ever again," Iero recounts. "'Permanent Rebellion' is about taking back what is rightfully yours," Rule added. "We wanted to do something where you can hear all our bands in it and yet, not have it sound like any one in particular. Our roots are punk rock and hardcore, and the vibe is hope for all the lost souls.”

Praise has come from all corners of the globe including year-end accolades from Guitar World, Revolver (Best New Bands of 2022), Loudwire, Kerrang, Alternative Press: (55 Best Albums of 2022) Brooklyn Vegan: (Best Punk Albums of 2022), Rock Sound (cover), StereogumLoudwire: (Best Rock + Metal Debut LPs 2022) New Noise (cover), Line of Best Fit, Heavy ConsequenceAllMusic, Forbes, and many more.

The Meffs Release New EP 'Broken Britain Pt. 2' via Bottles To The Ground + Unleash New Music Video For "No Future"

British political punk duo The Meffs have today released their latest EP 'Broken Britain Pt. 2'. Produced by legendary punk rocker and songwriter Frank Turner, the EP is the follow-up to their December 2022 drop 'Broken Britain Pt. 1'. Both EPs were released via Bottles To The Ground, Fat Mike of NOFX's new label imprint of Fat Wreck Chords. In celebration of today's news, the band has shared their new music video for "No Future". The track can also be found on the Bottles to the Ground label compilation 'Bottle Music for Broken People', now available on all streaming platforms. Speaking on the EP, The Meffs shared:

Anyone can write a record of love songs, but where's the truth in that? The sequel to Broken Britain Pt.1 is out now on Bottles to the Ground. Produced by Frank Turner. Great songs, good friends, no rules.

(And yes, we really do have those accents.)

Stream 'Broken Britain Pt. 2' here, pre-order the 10" vinyl of the EP here, and watch the music video for "No Future" below.

Since exploding onto the UK scene in 2019, The Meffs - aka Lily on vocals/guitar and Lewis on drums/backing vocals - have built up a reputation as purveyors of frantic punk bangers and an absolute must-see live sensation.

A performance at Frank Turner's Lost Evenings Festival was followed by the band hitting the studio with Turner to record, arguably, their best work yet. Pulling no punches as ever, Lily calls out societal inequality at every opportunity over a wall of hard-hitting melodies.

2022 saw The Meffs sign to Bottles to the Ground, imprint label of Fat Mike's Fat Wreck Chords. Described by Turner as "an absolute monster", Broken Britain Pt.1 and Pt.2 are out now!

Following a multitude of festival appearances and sold-out shows across the UK, May 2023 sees the band embark on their first tour of the UK: BROKEN BRITAIN TOUR. Tickets are available on their website and most major ticket sites. 2023 also sees The Meffs join the likes of Buzzcocks, Grade 2, Barstool Preachers, and Dune Rats on the road, alongside making their Download Festival debut.

If there was ever a time society needed this band to make some noise, it's now, and don't the people know it.

UP THE MEFFS.

Chicago's THE BELLWETHER SYNDICATE summon inner courage and resolve on bursting 'We All Rise' single

"Goth Rock Tornado... hair-raising speed, riff-racing insanity and badass drum/bass force... William Faith‘s edged Goth-infused vocals rumble all over this super-duper sucker-punch steamroller" ~ Turn Up The Volume

"Anything but conventional... the band is one of the most unique dissonant sounds in the scene" ~ Outburn Magazine

“Words so relevant to the time we are living in... Superb... The Bellwether Syndicate is full of brilliant surprises” ~ The Spill Magazine

“The time seems right for a new wave of post-punk to be ushered in... The Bellwether Syndicate is leading the charge” ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"A glittery piece of glamorous darkness...with William Faith’s crooning vocals and Sarah Rose smoothly cascading guitars” ~ Post-Punk.com

Alternative post-punk outfit The Bellwether Syndicate present 'We All Rise' (with video filmed by Sidney Strong), the third single from their 'Vestige & Vigil' album, which will be released in late April via Sett Records in North America and elsewhere via Nexilis Records /  Schubert Music Europe. A tale of hope and struggle, of inner-courage and rage for what could be... A powerhouse of a track, the reflective tone of the verse climaxes in the screaming industrial chorus, stirring both the heart and mind.

Based in Chicago, The Bellwether Syndicate is made up of William Faith (vox, guitars), Sarah Rose Faith (vox, guitars), Philly Peroxide (keyboards, percussion), Stevyn Grey (drums) and Corey Gorey (guitars). Formerly of seminal goth acts Christian Death, Mephisto Walz and Shadow Project and co-founder of Faith & The Muse, William Faith moved from his native Los Angeles to Chicago in 2010, forming The Bellwether Syndicate with his wife, Sarah Rose Faith a.k.a. Scary Lady Sarah, one of the scene’s most eminent DJs and club promoters and host of Nocturna, the longest-running goth event in North America.

“'We All Rise' is both an acknowledgement of and a call to the inner courage we all possess, which gives us the resolve and the strength to go against the prevailing system and try to build the world that lives in all of our hearts and minds. It is said that inside every cynic there is a wounded idealist, and we see this everywhere; the armor we’ve acquired to protect our dreams. This song is about drawing on that courage and believing again; daring to dream again, says William Faith.

This single follows the band's single 'Beacons', its ‘set adrift’ narrative supported by liquid, chorused guitars and distress-signal bass and synth before kicking into a full steam ahead chorus, with chiming, glorious guitars chasing the pulsing beat and soaring vocals all the way home. Earlier, the band released the glam-noir lead track 'Dystopian Mirror', a relentless assault of hard-edged guitars, buzzsaw synths and tribal beats accompanying a guided tour through the realm of mental instability.

Six years in the making, the 'Vestige & Vigil' LP was produced by William Faith, whose credits include Jarboe, Clan of Xymox, Bootblacks and Autumn, and Chad Blinman (Face To Face, Faith and The Muse, Jarboe). Recorded by William Faith at 13 Studio in Chicago, it was mixed by Blinman at The Eye Socket. This album comes 9 years after debuting with 'The Night Watch' EP and four years since their latest single, 'Republik'.

As of February 24, 'We All Rise' is will be available from all fine digital outlets, including Apple MusicSpotify and Bandcamp, where the first two singles can also be found. The full 'Vestige & Vigil' album will be released on April 28. Throughout March, The Bellwether Syndicate will be touring the USA with Clan of Xymox. Tickets are available here.

ELEGANT WEAPONS UNLEASH NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “BLIND LEADING THE BLIND,”FROM FORTHCOMING HORNS FOR

Metal fans have been eager to hear what the new collaboration, ELEGANT WEAPONS, sounds like, after the formation of the band – comprised of Rainbow singer Ronnie Romero, Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner, Uriah Heep bassist Dave Rimmer, and Accept drummer Christopher Williams – was first announced last year. Now, the time is finally upon us to get a sneak peek of what lays in store from the quartet, with the new single/video, “Blind Leading the Blind,” which can be  heard via this link: https://ew.bfan.link/blind-leading-the-blind

The video is great and gives a quirky and stylistic representation of the meaning of the song,” explains Faulkner. “The main character is getting drunk on the power he is given by the people that trust him, only to be found out later when his followers really see the truth. When the power is taken away, he is seen for what he really is.”

ELEGANT WEAPONS’ debut full-length, Horns for a Halo (produced by Faulkner’s Priest bandmate, Andy Sneap and featuring album performances by Pantera’s Rex Brown and Judas Priest's Scott Travis), will be dropping May 26th via Nuclear Blast Records, and can already be pre-ordered: https://ew.bfan.link/horns-for-a-halo

And shortly after the album’s release, the group plans on hitting the road, according to the guitarist. “We are very much looking forward to touring and our first tour dates are taking place in Europe starting in June 2023. Fans can expect heavy songs with catchy melodies, great vocals, and lots of riffs! We all live to play live, and can’t wait to take the ELEGANT WEAPONS out onto the live stage.”

As for the music, Richie describes it as “a mix of Jimi Hendrix, Priest, Sabbath, solo Ozzy and Black Label Society, but with a lot of melody, sort of old school and modern at once if that makes any sense, and actually down-tuned a whole step. There are a lot of guitar solos and the songs are on the heavier side. And even though there’s a lot of melody, it’s still going to shake your bones.

Lastly, Faulkner sees a promising/long road ahead for ELEGANT WEAPONS. “As far as the future, we are all dedicated to giving this band the longest life we can. Live shows, tours and future albums. Growing with the fans along the way. The writing process for the second album is already underway and with live dates coming in thick and fast, we are looking forward to seeing how the future evolves for ELEGANT WEAPONS.

And the new video for “Blind Leading the Blind,” is certainly a mighty first step.

HOST's Debut Album, "IX," Is Out Now

Greg Mackintosh comments "Finally our debut album IX has been released. The culmination of 2 years of poignant reflection."

About HOST

The origins of HOST do not trace back to the 1999 PARADISE LOST album bearing the same name but instead to the West Yorkshire music clubs of the mid-to-late 1980s. WhileHolmes and Mackintosh were already certified heavy metal fanatics (“metal thrashing mad” as Holmes equates), they were equally drawn to the New Wave and Goth music scenes. The pounding rhythms, sublime melodies and undercurrent of darkness drew them in, creating immediate earworms and a desire to delve further.

Mackintosh finally put plans into motion during the pandemic for a venture that would merge his penchant for sound design with the moods and atmosphere of 1980s dance-pop and Goth. The project was originally a solo pursuit until he asked Holmes, his longtime PARADISE LOST songwriting partner, to join. 'HOST' was selected as the name as a tip of the hat to the aforementioned album that found PARADISE LOST in an unprecedented period of experimentation that eschewed their metal roots and also challenged their fanbase in ways like never before.

“We always stood by 'Host' as an album,” says Mackintosh. “This project is not totally connected to that album, but some of the ideas are extrapolated. We’re taking the basic premise and trying it out now. And, really, it was something fun and interesting for us to do. We’ve been doing PARADISE LOST for a long time and got an itch to try something different from where PL is now. I could take PL down this route again. Who knows? It may happen if we live long enough, but I thought, ‘Why not now?’ I had the time to do it.”

ABOUT ARCHETYPES COLLIDE:
ARCHETYPES COLLIDE demand repeated listening, mixing everything from Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon to The Chainsmokers, and Stranger Things-style retro synths, into a unique musical identity. A collection of singles and EPs drew a devoted fanbase and the attention of Oshie Bichar, bassist for Beartooth. Bichar enlisted his management, and the pair took Archetypes Collide under their wing. Soon after, SiriusXM's Octane got behind songs like "Your Misery," "Becoming What I Hate," and "Above It All." The band appeared on major festivals like Aftershock, Louder Than Life, and Welcome To Rockville, toured with genre giants The Amity Affliction, and crafted an ambitious self-titled debut album for Fearless Records. Archetypes Collide spent several weeks in the first part of 2022 making their inaugural full-length, with a super team surrounding them to execute their vision. Bichar produced alongside Nick Ingram (Dayseeker, Convictions, Hawthorne Heights) at Capital House Studio in Ohio. Additional production came from Jon Eberhard (Skillet, I Prevail, Until I Wake); The Plot In You frontman Landon Tewers lent a creative hand as well. The resulting album, mixed by Jeff Dunne (Ice Nine Kills, Wage War, Make Them Suffer), captures the vibrant spirit of the 2010s-era Warped Tour with a postmodern edge. It's a diverse but singular mission statement, brimming with authenticity and hope. ARCHETYPES COLLIDE aren't bound by preconceived notions or limitations. As single Kyle Pastor explains simply: "Why not take every shot, in every direction, under the umbrella of hard rock and metal?"

ARCHETYPES COLLIDE ARE:
Kyle Pastor – Vocals

The Ongoing Concept Share "Unwanted Again" Video — WATCH

BAND RETURNS WITH ORIGINAL LINEUP + NEW ALBUM AGAIN OUT MARCH 31 VIA SOLID STATE RECORDS

THE ONGOING CONCEPT are back!

The band — brothers Dawson Scholz [vocals, guitar], Kyle Scholz [vocals, keys, percussion], and Parker Scholz [drums] along with TJ Nichols [vocals, bass], and Andy Crateau [vocals, guitar] — has announced its fourth album Again, out March 31 via Solid State Records. Pre-order it here.

Not only is this the first taste of new music from the band since 2017 but it also marks the return of the original lineup.

Today, the band has shared another new single with "Unwanted Again." Watch it below.

"'Unwanted Again' was one of our favorites to write and record," states Dawson. "Being fans of bands like Cory Wong, Dirty Loops, Don Broco, and Vulfpeck, we found ourselves incorporating a lot of groovy elements to this album, and this song really showcases that. It was also fun to bounce vocals back between TJ and I. For longtime fans of our band, we added some subtle references to our song 'Unwanted'; not only in the song, but in the music video as well. Being our second single and coming after a heavy hitter like 'Prisoner Again,' I think this song showcases the variety we put into this album."

For a little history lesson and how the band came back to its original form, keep reading!

The Ongoing Concept emerged with the now-seminal Saloon back in 2013. On its heels, fan favorite Handmade bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums Chart and Top Christian Albums Chart in addition to cracking the Top 30 of the Top Independent Albums Chart. In its wake, Kyle, Parker, and TJ departed, leaving Dawson as the sole original member for Places in 2017. As The Ongoing Concept went dormant, the group's catalog continued to react with listeners as the likes of "Cover Girl" clocked over a million Spotify streams and counting. After a period of quiet, communication mended between Dawson and his brothers Kyle and Parker. Between careers, marriages, and kids, they kicked around the idea of playing together once more.

"We’d been playing music since we were six-years-old," notes Dawson. "We lived and breathed the same band together. It's crazy, because I didn't know my brothers outside of music. Taking a break for a few years, we found who we were as normal people and embraced other interests. It was super healthy for all of us. One day, we were hanging out, and I said, 'You know I’ve been working on some little skeletons for songs, and it made sense. The only reason we got back together was because we had our time apart."

They self-produced Again and took their time. The Ongoing Concept integrated "lyrics and Easter Eggs" from previous albums into the record’s framework, embodying the title quite literally.

TO THE GRAVE Drop Music Video For New Track "Found Footage; New Album 'Director's Cuts' Out Tomorrow

Hardline extreme metal squad To The Grave have unveiled their powerful new single / video 'Found Footage' ahead of the release of new album, Director’s Cuts, out tomorrow (24th February) via Unique Leader Records. Watch the official music video for 'Found Footage' below and pre-order the album HERE.

The band comment:

"This song is our attempt at a little storytelling, inspired by stories of Animal Liberation efforts gone wrong (as they commonly can), told from the perspective of someone at the heart of it.”

To The Grave have just completed a mostly SOLD OUT tour in Europe with Shadow Of Intent, Enterprise Earth and Angelmaker. More touring news to be announced soon.

At just over 44 minutes in length, 'Director’s Cuts' is an album packed with ambition and conscience. To The Grave have never shied away from channeling the real horrors of animal cruelty and its impact into the violent, emotional intensity of their music. Songs such as ‘Red Dot Sight’, ‘Found Footage’ and ‘Cut Off The Head’ perfectly conjure images of a world gone astray.

'Director’s Cuts' was recorded by bassist Matt Clarke, with drums recorded live at The Brain Studios in Sydney and mixed and mastered by Lance Prenc at Prenc Audio (Void of Vision, Alpha Wolf, Polaris) in Melbourne with album photography by Animals Uncovered.

The band comment on the new album:

"This is the refinement of our combined musical tastes, fuelled by our sadness and anger at the state of the world. We made the music we wanted to make without really considering how it would fit into any little genre boxes, because we knew if we loved it completely then everyone else would too. These songs are hard and heavy without being technical just for the sake of it.”

Watch the video to their first single "Red Dot Sight", a hard-hitting track about anti-vegan public figures and the media perception against vegan activists, here.

Second single 'Axe of Kindness' continues the band's strong vegan message, watch the video here.

Watch the video to third single 'Cut Off The Head' here.

ABOUT TO THE GRAVE

One of Australia’s most uncompromising bands, To The Grave return with their heaviest album to date, both sonically and thematically. Since the release of their 2019 debut album 'Global Warning', the caustic five piece have garnered international success, with 2021’s follow-up 'Epilogue', a re-issue of 'Global Warning' with bonus tracks, solidifying their position as “one of the country's heaviest exports.” (Revolver).

To The Grave have steadily built an audience in the underground, accumulating more than 11 million Spotify streams, racking up over 5.4 million YouTube views, all whilst decimating live audiences alongside Parkway Drive, PolarisCattle Decapitation, Thy Art Is Murder, Vulvodynia and Alpha Wolf.

Now, following a sold-out national headline tour in 2022 and revitalized by a new lineup, the band are more focused than ever on the eve of the release of their second album 'Director’s Cuts' .

The eleven tracks lyrically expose a societal and environmental hell on earth whilst pushing the boundaries of accessible extremity, full of barbed hooks, thick with atmosphere and drenched in groove. Razor-sharp guitars played with an exploratory approach - blending everything from whammy pedal squeaks and chiming cleans to death metal chainsaw tones - are entwined with live drums to give a level of dynamism that musically sets this band apart from the extreme metal pack, yet they maintain the weight of the heaviest bands today. Vocalist Dane Evans commands a multifaceted performance, bursting with vocal energy from throat-ripping dissonant screeches to low end gutturals.

To The Grave are

Dane Evans - Vocals

Jack Simoni - Guitars, Programming

Luke Ringin - Guitars, Vocals

Matt Clarke - Bass, Vocals

Simon O’Malley - Drums, Vocals

Today, the band has shared the video for "Darkest Day."

"We are excited to release a live video for our latest single 'Darkest Day,'" the band says. "The video was shot in Knoxville, Tennessee, in December. This was one of the most fun and energetic sets we’ve ever played and the crowd set the perfect tone for the fast-paced ripper that 'Darkest Day' is. Our friends Marshall Wieczorek and Michelle Nisbet were able to capture that energy perfectly and we're so proud of the video we were able to create together."

"We knew when we started writing that we really wanted to make something darker and heavier that was still uniquely Entheos, and we knew that we wanted to make a record that really came from our hearts and captured where we want to take this band," explains vocalist Chaney Crabb.

"The new album also has a strong 'trippy' vibe, not in a generic sense but meaning when you are done listening to it you feel like you’ve gone on a journey," adds multi-instrumentalist Navene Koperweis. "I've always loved albums that gave me that feeling. I can't say we set out to have the experience, it just sort of happened and that's something I'm proud of."

Having stripped down to a two-piece in 2020, this has helped to streamline the band and allow the core members to make the music they want to with no compromise, which is clearly to their betterment. Koperweis — who takes the role of drummer in the band's live lineup — has long written most of the guitar parts, so it was not a radically different writing process, but allowed him the freedom of complete control. "I tell people this album is more of everything that we do, except this time it’s deeper in all directions," says Koperweis. "We're no longer dipping our toe in the pool on certain aspects, when we decide to go somewhere, we fucking go there."

Relying less on synths and electronic production than on previous releases, a lot of the more atmospheric elements are contributed by guitar, and there is even an acoustic guitar for the first time on an Entheos record. Crabb has also pushed herself harder than ever before, interested in consistently practicing to find new pitches and timbres in her voice, and she has most certainly extended the range of her screaming. Using pitched screaming to add melodic lines in many places, this is also the first Entheos record on which she has sung.

When it came to penning the lyrics, Crabb knew that she was going to write about her own "experience as a human" and approach the album based on the lingering awareness many people have, that there is so much world out there and there are so many different experiences to have — but there is so little time. However, this idea really hit home in August 2021 when she got into an accident on her electric scooter on the day she started tracking vocals.

"I do not remember how I fell, but when I woke up I was really badly hurt. Gravel was embedded in my lower lip and had severed the inside of my chin from my face, my upper lip was completely split open to the point that my teeth were visible, my nasal septum bone was split in two and my nose was completely bent to one side — I ended up with 100 stitches in my face and was unable to do vocals for three months. I lost all abilities to move my nose and lips for those months, and to this day I still haven't regained complete control."

Because of this accident she found herself in a strange place mentally, juggling between feeling truly happy and grateful for every second that she was alive and got to spend with the people who she loved, but also feeling completely depressed, because of all of the uncertainty surrounding her injuries. She shares, "The album took form as a journey from the depths of depression into gratitude, but ultimately as an examination of our time and how precious it is."

With Koperweis handling production duties and Mark Lewis (Whitechapel, The Black Dahlia Murder) mixing the record, all of the drums were tracked by Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate, and Koperweis tracked guitars and vocals. They also recruited former member Evan Brewer to supply the bass. Though committed to their status as a two-piece, the band does have a live lineup with Brian James (ex-Fallujah) and Robert Brown (ex-Slaughter to Prevail) providing guitar, maintaining their reputation for being a killer live band. Having delivered the best record of their career they are also in a very good place mentally, but they do not get ahead of themselves.

The album will be available in the following formats:

Digital / Streaming

CD Jewelcase

Vinyl — Dark Gray & White Marble (US exclusive)

Vinyl — Clear with Gold Metallic & Black Marble (US exclusive)

Vinyl — Red / Gold Melt (A Side B side) (EU exclusive)

Weathers Drop New Single "ALL CAPS" + Announce Upcoming New Album 'Are We Having Fun?' Out On May 5 via Sumerian Records

Los Angeles-based alt-rock trio Weathers have announced their next album 'Are We Having Fun?' set for release on May 5 via Sumerian Records. Alongside this announcement, the band has dropped a new single "ALL CAPS" (co-produced and featuring John O'Callaghan) aka John The Ghost. When asked about the collaborative process for recording "ALL CAPS", Weathers frontman Cameron Boyer shares:

We jumped at the opportunity to work with producer/singer John O’Callaghan (aka John the Ghost). We are big fans and so working together was a trip. After some time soul searching for what this song would sound like, the end result we landed on has a lot of attitude that we didn’t expect to finish with. One of the biggest obstacles was deciding where John would sing. I felt like most projects like this have the featured artist start singing in the second verse. But for me, while it’s a Weathers song, I wanted to throw listeners off and start with John’s voice. He’s got such a unique tone and I thought it would draw listeners in right off the bat and make them go “oh shit?” In a good way.

Weathers describes their upcoming release as the next step for the band creatively.

"With our new album, we wanted to not try so hard. Instead we wanted to dig deep from our past and pull from music we listened to growing up. In the end, we got a body of work that's a little heavier, more raw, and way more emotional and honest than anything we've done in the past."

Sumerian Records' Senior Vice President Mike Jakubow shares the band's enthusiasm for the new album:

“Weathers is on the verge of making major strides in their career. They have written a brand-new record that is deeply introspective, relatable, and exceedingly catchy. The band combines old and new themes and made it entirely their own. The energy in these songs will make a lasting impact on fans”.

Sumerian's Head of A&R and Executive Operations Nick Ocean (Walters) chimed in saying:

"As an A&R in a crowded music space, it is always the greatest pleasure to partner with a group of artists that feels authentic from the beginning. The new album has many colors, both bright and dark. Their music truly pops from the canvas and they deliver something fresh and nostalgic in a unique way. This is just the beginning for Weathers, and we are thrilled to help build upon what they started."

The album's lead single "Where Do I Sign?" has already clocked up over 750,000 streams on Spotify and counting. Listen to "ALL CAPS" here, watch the music video below, and pre-order 'Are We Having Fun?' here.

Weathers fan will have their chance to see the band hit the stage across the United States starting in April in support of Meg Myers. For ticket information, please click here.

Weathers cycle through vibes at the speed of life. Text messages to cheaters, actual conversations about mental health among friends, and a shared passion for eighties and nineties nostalgia (coming-of-age comedies, in particular) turn into fodder for their undeniable and unforgettable alternative anthems. The acclaimed Los Angeles trio—Cameron Boyer [vocals, guitar], Cameron Olsen [guitar] and Brennen Bates [bass]—infuse their third full-length offering, Are We Having Fun? [Sumerian Records], with gleeful unpredictability.

“It’s meant to be unpredictable,” affirms Boyer. “Since there’s a cohesive sound, you’re essentially living in the same universe, but you’re listening to a bunch of different stories. We dug into how relationships and love can fuck with your head as much as anything else can. We welcomed the changes in our lives, because it was time to evolve—which is also when you should do a new record.”

The band initially emerged back in 2015. A year later, they released the breakthrough single Happy Pills, amassing over 164 million Spotify streams and counting. They parlayed this momentum into Kids in the Night (2018) and Pillows & Therapy(2021). The latter boasted fan favorites such as Rehab, Losing Blood, and C’est la vie, which reeled in over 28 million Spotify streams and counting. Meanwhile, Billboard proclaimed, “Their message empowers through the acceptance of something we all consider flaws at some point.” Of Pillows & Therapy, Under The Radar noted, “The band married grungey alt rock and synth-laden pop rock, embracing newly anthemic sounds as well as revisiting their ‘90s influences,” while Beyond The Stage Magazine proclaimed, “Weathers’ Pills & Therapy is the best medicine.”

Throughout 2022, they wrote and recorded what would become Are We Having Fun? with producer Jason Suwito (Sir Sly, Imagine Dragons). They absorbed the ebbs and flows of the Post-Pandemic season in their music as they sonically nodded to classic bands like My Chemical Romance and The Killers.

“We were kids in the two-thousands, so we love over-the-top emotional tunes with a heavier sound,” Boyer goes on. “When we were making the record, we were feeling a bit of rage and sort of doomed. So we asked ourselves, ‘Is this even fun anymore? Or, are we doing this because we’re stuck?’ Since the music encompasses a lot of raw emotion, we decided to be very honest with the title.”

“We want you to walk away feeling like you were heard, and it’s okay to not be okay,” Boyer leaves off. “At the same time, we’re trying to get out of the darkness, because no one wants to be in the dark for too long. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel. When you’re on the floor crying, you’re not the only one.”

“To us, Weathers is a lifestyle and a family,” Brennen concludes. “So, it’s important for the three of us to express ourselves, stick together, and support each other as well as everybody out there who supports us.”

Elle King Stuns Sold-Out Lexington, KY Crowd with Surprise Guest, Tyler Childers

When Tyler Childers’ record label asked him what artist he would want to record his song “Jersey Giant,” he requested Elle King. Sunday night (Feb. 19) he joined her on stage in Lexington, KY for a first-ever performance of the song to a surprised and jubilant crowd. Watch performance below.

“I am proud that I come from this part of America,” said King. “Where I come from, what I see in the faces are love, hope, bravery, hardworking, family oriented, true blooded, incredibly strong human beings. I felt honored to share the stage with someone who is also shining a massive light on the beauty of where we come from. Tyler Childers, you are a beacon of hope. You are a pillar of truth and proof that if anyone from down home has a dream and something to say, people will listen. Thank you, Tyler, for giving me a beautiful song. And thank you for joining me tonight. For the first time in probably over 10 years you got up and sang that song with me. And I love you. From the River Rat Festival to the worldwide superstar that you deserve nothing less than to be, more than anything, I am glad to have to gotten to sing with my friend tonight. Thank you. Kentucky Strong.”

King’s nearly 30 city A-Freakin-Men Tour Presented by Slow & Low opened Valentine’s night in New Orleans, LA followed by shows in Atlanta, GA, two sold-out nights in Asheville, NC before the sold-out show in Lexington where Kentucky native Childers joined her on stage for the performance.

King recorded and released the song last year and added it to her critically acclaimed Come Get Your Wife album which was released just a few weeks ago. Upon release of King’s version of the song, Childers said, “I wrote ‘Jersey Giant’ over ten years ago and only performed it for a short period of time. I was pleased with how it turned out structurally (it even has a bridge, which is rare for me), but I was over performing it pretty fast. I reckon that’s just how songs go sometimes. They can be like that coat you saw and had to have, only to get it home and think, ‘Why gah, I ain’t never gonna wear this thing.’ Or, one that you got from an ex which you would rather just toss out. But that’s not saying anything against the coat, it just doesn’t fit me anymore and hasn’t for some time. I’m super excited that Ms. King has dusted this old song off and given it a new life.”

King, who provides lead and background vocals and is featured on acoustic guitar, co-produced the track with award-winning, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and reigning ACM Acoustic Guitar Player of the Year, Charlie Worsham. Worsham lends his signature sound for background vocals, plus acoustic guitar, mandolin and banjo.

King will join Childers on his 2023 Send in the Hounds Tour at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Aug. 2and 3.

The Elle King A-FREAKIN-MEN Tour Presented by Slow & Low, will also feature the musical force that is Red Clay Strays. (* not available for this Show)

Fat Wreck Chords Imprint - Bottles To The Ground - Releases New Label Compilation Feat. New Music From Fishbone

Bottles To The Ground, the new Fat Wreck label imprint founded by notorious punk rock legend Fat Mike, has released its first label compilation today. 'Bottle Music For Broken People' is available digitally now HERE and features tracks from Fishbone, Codefendants, Melvinator, The Meffs, The Skints and more. The majority of the tracks featured are previously unreleased and many will appear on upcoming Bottles To The Ground physical releases on either 10" or 12" vinyl. 'Bottle Music For Broken People' gives fans the first cross-sectional look at what they can expect from the new label moving forward.

Speaking on Bottles To The Ground first compilation release, Fat Mike shares

"We’re trying out a new thing where we put a bunch of different songs by a bunch of different bands on the same record and see what happens.”

The release of the new collection is highlighted by the music video for brand new track from ska punk legends, Fishbone. The video for the new track, titled "All We Have Is Now", can be viewed below. "All We Have Is Now" is the first Fishbone release with Chris Dowd back in the band since 1994. The current line-up features 4 of 6 original members, making this the first new song recording with these members in 29 years.

Speaking on their brand new track and accompanying music video, Norwood Fisher of Fishbone shares

"Fishbone and NOFX go waaaay back. We’re in the mutual admiration club, great appreciation for our individual approaches to the music that we’re known for. I don’t remember exactly when Fatty 1st expressed interest in producing Fishbone but it seems like it was a long time ago. A random encounter in a parking lot in more recent history, led to the current release. Mike is batshit crazy but highly functional, with incredible integrity and follow through. Just right for Fishbone’s batshit crazy, dysfunctional world, yet we are this functional enough to make it this far, asses! It was a long time coming and we hope you love it like we do. Enjoy if you will…

Sometimes a note to self finds its way to the song form. 'All We Have Is Now' is a prime example. Philosophically, it’s far from a new concept. Eckard Tolle, Allan Watts, Joseph Campbell and many others have contemplated and pontificated on this topic. The pursuit of self inquest, in the hopes of experiencing an extended, extraordinary sense of Being, the song, wrapped in a fully blown Fishbone party, reminds me to take advantage of the gift of the ever present now. Feel free to interpret it however it speaks to you. Ain’t nuttin’ buttah potty…"

The 'Bottle Music For Broken People' compilation is just the start for a stacked year of releases from the new label. Fans can look forward to more new music coming from Codefendants, Melvinator, The Meffs, Fishbone, Ras-1, Doom Scroll and Tommy and June over the coming months. Be sure to follow Bottles To The Ground on Instagram to keep up with all new releases.

One more round then it’s Bottles to the Ground, smashing of the glass, an imperfect perfect sound.“ - Fat Mike

ABOUT FISHBONE

Fishbone is a band. Fishbone is a Familyhood. Fishbone is Red Hot.

Born out of the punk rock scene of Los Angeles, CA, Fishbone came out as a force of songs and live energy, a feeling that continues today. Signed to Columbia Records in 1984, they went on to release 4 critically acclaimed albums and numerous EPs and singles. They have toured the world headlining their own shows as well as festivals - always leaving people stunned and declaring it “one of the best shows ever seen.” A constant statement that still is used today from fans to artists.

After years of touring and rotating members, 2023 finds Fishbone back to their most solid line up which includes original members, Angelo Moore (vocals/Saxophone), Chris Dowd (Keys/Vocals), Dirty Walt (Trumpet/Vocals), Norwood Fisher (Bass), rounding it out with veteran Fishbone drummer, John Steward, and Mark Phillips.

With a new EP recorded and produced by Fat Mike of NOFX and coming out on Bottles To The Ground later this year, Fishbone is getting ready to reclaim their live touring throne. No doubt they will continue to leave the audience wanting more and thinking more, leaving their mark and influence on younger bands, and paving the foundation and legacy they have been laying for decades. #FuckRacism

ABOUT BOTTLES TO THE GROUND

Fat Wreck Chords now has a new imprint Bottles to the Ground. Fat Mike created this label for both his and NOFX’s music projects such as Codefendants and Melvinator, as well as other bands that do not fit the traditional Fat sound. This label is a collective not solely owned by Fat, but by all members of NOFX.

Fat Mike explains the origins of Bottles to the Ground:

“When NOFX first played Amsterdam in 1988, we were invited to the closing night of one of the most infamous squats in the city. Not just a squat, this was a punk bar that instructed everyone to smash all glasses and bottles on the street after we emptied them. Apparently there would be no repercussions from the city because no one owned it. So, we drank all night along with hundreds of punks and every fucking bottle got smashed. To me, it looked like how punk rock music should feel. Bottles to the Ground is the beauty of disaster.”

Echos Releases Haunting New 'Affirmations Re-Imagined' EP + New Music Video For "Mad (Re-Imagined)"

Industrial-tinged, ethereal alt-pop chanteuse Echos has today shared her latest EP 'Affirmations (Re-Imagined)' via Seeking Blue, a collection of fresh interpretations of select tracks from latest album 'Affirmations'. In celebration of the drop, Echos has shared the music video for "Mad (Re-Imagined)" from the EP. Speaking about today's news, songwriter and vocalist Alexandra Norton commented:

"I wanted 'Affirmations (Re-imagined)' to feel like you're listening to lullaby versions of the original record. A perspective shift if you will. So much has changed from when this original body of work was created up until now and I think you can feel the weight of that in all of these. The art of being able to strip a song down to its bones and feeling something new about it has always been one of my favorite parts about music and to be able to deliver these seemingly loud and angry songs in a newer softer tone was such a delicate task. I hope they help carry you through whatever it is you need to heal from.

I wanted "Mad" to be the lead single of this body of work because in its original form, it's so hard-hitting and in your face but when it's reconstructed it shows you the reasoning behind the anger which always reveals itself to be sadness. The lyrics are almost an oxymoron when presented in this way. To sing "i'm fucking mad at you" in a lullaby feels so harrowing yet comforting at the same time."

Stream 'Affirmations (Re-Imagined)' here, watch the music video for "Mad (Re-Imagined)" below, and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for more Echos news coming soon.

ABOUT ECHOS

ECHOS has matured from her early roots as an electronic dance music darling, to creating emotionally commanding, and cinematically vivid alternative-pop with eminence.

Having worked with established curator MrSuicideSheep and his label Seeking Blue for the last 5+ years – ECHOS has seen the fortune of millions of streams, impressions, and eyes on her music. Her breakout track "Saints" has had over 1.7 million views on YouTube and nearly 38 million streams on Spotify alone.

Finding importance in the physical, ECHOS has not only seen huge gains digitally, but they have also supported large-room sold-out tours with electronic acts like Grammy Award-winning DJ/Producer Illenium, with whom they collaborated on massive track "Afterlife" which has over 15 million YouTube views and 20.5 million Spotify streams alone and have performed on the festival stages of Electric Forest, Snowglobe and more as well as a US tour with Alternative metallers I See Stars.

With her latest album, 'Affirmations' shifting to a deeper emotional focus, ECHOS lyricist, co-songwriter, and vocalist, Alexandra Norton has used these tracks as an outlet to document the battlefield of her battles with mental health and as an outlet to process the thoughts and feelings that don’t quite make sense.

ECHOS has nearly 600,000 monthly Spotify listeners and has over 500 million cross-platform streams to date across her catalog.

HENGET Reveals Debut Album Details, Shares New Single + Music Video

Guitarist Jesse J. Heikkinen (The Abbey, Iterum Nata) and vocalist King Aleijster de Satan (King Satan, Saturnian Mist) have teamed up for a mind-bending progressive black metal project, HENGET. The emerging band will be debuting its first full-length, 'Beyond North Star,' on May 18, 2023 via Season of Mist!

Drawing inspiration from the world of occult and the ways of ancient Shamanism, 'Beyond North Star' depicts a violent hallucinatory journey to the depths of the mind and beyond with a psychedelic outlook. The band is now sharing a trippy and disturbing new music video for the first single, "I Am Them." The video was created by King Aleijster de Satan and can be found below.

HENGET comment: "'I am Them' offers a microcosm of the Henget debut album. Violent black/death metal with psychedelic and progressive elements spiced with haunting melodies and avant-garde spirit!"

Pre-orders are now available HERE. The album can be pre-saved on various digital platforms HERE.

The creation process has always been a very fascinating riddle isn’t it? After all, there’s no strict formula. Some spent weeks, months or even years meticulously working on every tiny detail over and over again until it feels perfect while others just have to let it all out, no matter how it all comes out, it just has to. And no, no matter how hard you try, you can’t force it. You just can’t. You need to have that vision, that unstoppable yearning to turn your dreams into reality.

King Aleijster de Satan has long stopped asking himself all those questions. Although he’s only thirty-four years old, the Tampere based Finn is a bullet-proof veteran of the black metal scene: he used to run and sign bands for Saturnal Records. He also ran the Blackvox studio from 2013 to 2020 where he recorded multiple bands. Purely on the musical front, besides being the long-time standing frontman of Saturnian Mist he also because various experiences, in Arvet among others. But with the industrial rumblings of King Satan, he’s learnt to expand his mind and look over all those useless fences to see what lied beyond. In the end, it’s all about being free both as an individual and as an artist, to go where your instincts and muse take you, no matter what.

And nothing encapsulates more this quest for freedom than HENGET. As a matter of fact, it lies at the very center of it as most of the music AND lyrics were on purpose improvised on the spot. Ever tried to capture lightning in a bottle? King Aleijster de Satan and his comrade Jesse Heikkinen just did with HENGET first album, Beyond North Star, Heikkinen having proved to be quite a versatile artist since dabbling with ‘progressive esoteric folk’ with Iterum Nata, the equally ‘out there’ Hexvessel or The Abbey.

“When I got in the studio to do the vocals, I only had various notes, sometimes hastily written on a small piece of paper and more or less some kind of loose structures to go with it. Most of them I gathered in between 2016 and 2019 after, let’s say experimenting quite a bit. I admit natural psychedelics and other shamanic methods influenced me a lot to reach another level of consciousness, besides my long interest towards the occult and mysticism. Those weren’t meant to get lost into but instead to be used as mere tools to help me opening new doors in my brain, a bit like a shaman would do when engaged in a ritual to reach a trance like of state. That’s also why I booked a two weeks session just for the vocals: I needed that amount of space to really dive in my subconscious. Overall, that was one of most intense recording experience I ever had but I wouldn’t recommend it to everyone because the toll you have to pay once it’s done is pretty heavy.”

Originally, the pair planned to unite in Saturnian Mist but then, Jesse “had to move to another city and it made things too complicated. But we still wanted to work together as he is probably the best songwriter I know. And since I had this idea for this other thing where I knew I wanted to push the limits and go over the edge in terms of songwriting, I needed somebody of his calibre.” “Indeed, Aleijster approached during summer 2021” confirms the multi-instrumentist. “He had a quite clear vision of what kind of concept he wanted to do lyrically speaking for a long time. It did coincide with my own desire to express something personal yet aggressively, an urge I hadn’t felt in a long time. Based on his background, we agreed this should happen within some kind of black metal frame but without still paying attention to much conventions or rules. I was given free rein to do whatever I felt like and I quickly realized I wanted it to be quite intuitive while making sure the music would be as crazy as possible, like some typhoon swallowing everything in its path… So using mostly vintage instrumentation, I recorded most of the music by myself in my own studio, pushing the button ‘rec’ and then totally letting myself go, following Aleijster ‘automatic writing’ method and ending up with some pretty interesting result.”

There’s something strangely seductive about the eight tracks included on Beyond North Star, as if the listeners were invited to enter some alternative and colourful place, dangerous and scary yet always otherworldly. Some may argue that all along you will most likely cross there the ghosts of Dødheimsgård, Arcturus or King Crimson. But Aleijster remains pretty reluctant to label it but “if we really need to, I guess it’s avant-garde black metal.” After hesitating with Henkivallat (‘spiritual realms’), which they ended up using as a songtitle instead, the name HENGET was chosen because of its double meaning as it can be translated both as ‘life’ but also ‘spirits’, “a perfect name for an occult band”. Beyond North Star is a “loose” concept album, like one long journey, even if the songs are not exactly tied up together. Something the 70’s prog rock loving Jesse is quite happy with while its title is a reference to that actual spiritual journey the listeners are about to undertake. One they will never forget.

Three ambitious music videos in total have been shot already to promote the album and HENGET has gathered a full line-up in order to start playing live. Saturnian Mist drummer Ville Rissanen was the first one to be asked, soon followed by Lasse Launimaa, a teenage years friend of Jesse who also plays in cult symphonic black metal band Thyrane on keyboards, and Palmi Johansson on bass.

August Burns Red Share "Reckoning" (Feat. Underoath's Spencer Chamberlain) Lyric Video — WATCH + LIS

NEW ALBUM DEATH BELOW OUT MARCH 24 VIA SHARPTONE RECORDS

BAND CURRENTLY ON 20-YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR

Grammy-nominated Lancaster five-piece AUGUST BURNS RED — JB Brubaker [lead guitar], Brent Rambler [rhythm guitar], Matt Greiner [drums], Jake Luhrs [vocals], and Dustin Davidson [bass] — have shared "Reckoning," another new song from Death Below, which arrives March 24 via SharpTone Records. Pre-order it here.

Listen to and watch the lyric video below.

"'Reckoning' is an eight-minute journey that concludes our new album, Death Below," says Brubaker. "It was one of the last songs we wrote for the album and is taken over the top by the haunting guest vocal appearance by our friend Spencer Chamberlain from Underoath. We don't typically like to share the album closer before our records come out but we're just so pumped on this track and had to make an exception this time."

ABR are currently on the road on the 20 Year Anniversary Tour, during which they will play material off all nine of their albums as they hit North America.

The first leg of the tour kicked off on February 15 in Silver Spring, MD and runs through March 14 in Charlotte, NC. The second leg launches on April 13 in Philadelphia, PA and wraps on May 12 in Quebec in Canada. The tour marks the first time the band has played Canada since 2019. The support acts are The Devil Wears Prada, and Scottish band Bleed From Within, who are touring the U.S. for the first time. The bands will appear on both legs of the tour. VIP packages are on sale right now at this location and include an exclusive, 200+ page photo book that spans each year of ABR's entire career.

ABOUT AUGUST BURNS RED:
August Burns Red is likely the only metal act ever described as "thrillingly empathetic" (Kerrang!). It's a testament to the ferocious band's ability to recognize and connect with the mixture of brokenness and hope found in their audience and within themselves. A hard-working collective with a shockingly stable lineup for the vast majority of their career, August Burns Red pour every ounce of themselves into their music. Atmospheric, riff-laden, aggressive bursts of controlled chaos, filled with shifting time signatures and tempos, deliver confessional, self-reflective, and authentic emotion.

Tour stops with Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, and Bring Me the Horizon; several major international hard rock festivals (Rock Am Ring, Download, and Aftershock, to name a few); and the Vans Warped Tour are among the destinations around the world to witness ABR's live prowess. Massive headlining treks celebrating 10-year anniversaries for Constellations and Leveler demonstrated the enduring relevance of the band’s catalog, nearly 20 years into ABR's storied career. 2020's Guardians debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hard Music, Rock Albums, and Vinyl Albums charts.

Revolver, who put the band on their cover the same year, observed August Burns Red "embrace the pain so well." It's a truth never more evident than on Death Below, their stunning ninth studio album. Recorded with longtime producers Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland, Death Below encompasses all of the pissed-off strength of the band's past without sacrificing an ounce of catchy, melodic might. Death Below boasts guest appearances from ABR allies Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage), Spencer Chamberlain (Underoath), Jason Richardson (All That Remains), and JT Cavey (ERRA). "It's getting difficult for the members of August Burns Red to keep one-upping themselves," marveled Billboard shortly before Guardians arrived. With Death Below, they emerge victorious again.

Jethro Tull launch ‘The Navigators’; the second single from ‘RökFlöte’

Jethro Tull recently announced the release of their 23rd studio album, ‘RökFlöte’, on the 21st April 2023 via InsideOutMusic. Following 2022’s ‘The Zealot Gene’, the band's first album in two decades, Ian Anderson and the band are returning with a 12-track record based on the characters and roles of some of the principle gods of the old Norse paganism, and at the same time exploring the ‘RökFlöte’ - rock flute - which Jethro Tull has made iconic.

Today the band are pleased to launch the second single from the album, ‘The Navigators’. Appearing as a special single edit version, mixed by Bruce Soord (The Pineapple Thief), you can watch the video (created by Christian Rios) below.

The lyrics for this track explored the Norse god Njord, who was the god of wealth, fertility, the sea and seafaring.

Ian explains the album’s title & theme in more detail: “The title of this offering went through a little change or two along the way. I started with the idea of a predominantly instrumental album for rock flute - as in rock music. When the subject material of the album presented itself, I was drawn to the term Ragnarök from Norse mythology - their version of apocalyptic end times or Biblical Armageddon. The "final showdown" scenario is ubiquitous and inherent in Hinduism, Christianity and Islam, for example. Ragnarök translates as “destiny of the Gods”, the rök part meaning destiny, course, direction. With umlaut firmly in place, courtesy of the Germanic origins of Old Norse, Flute became Flöte in keeping with the spelling. With me so far? I just can't miss the glorious opportunity for a good and legitimate umlaut.”

Jethro Tull continue live dates this year, with shows in mainland Europe, as well as a newly announced headline date in London on the 23rd May to celebrate the new album release. They will also return to North America later this year, with the first show in Wolf Trap confirmed and more to be announced in the coming weeks. Find the full list of shows here: https://jethrotull.com/tour-dates/

‘The Zealot Gene’, released in January 2022, was Jethro Tull’s 22nd studio album and it garnered critical acclaim across the board. Reaching #9 in the UK album charts, a feat the band hadn’t reached since 1972, it also debuted at #4 in Germany, #3 in Switzerland, #5 in Austria, #8 in Finland, as well as top 10 in the US Album Charts, Current Album Charts and Rock Album Charts.

With more than 30 albums to their credit and sales totaling more than 60 million, Jethro Tull are one of the most successful rock bands of all-time with a catalog that contains classics that still resonate today. Led by Ian Anderson, Tull still continue to tour throughout the world, entertaining audiences of all ages.

The band consists of:
Ian Anderson - Concert and Alto flutes, Flute d'Amour,
Irish whistle and vocals
David Goodier - Bass guitar
John O’Hara - Piano, keyboards and Hammond Organ
Scott Hammond – Drums.
Joe Parrish-James – Electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin
