ARCHETYPES COLLIDE demand repeated listening, mixing everything from Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon to The Chainsmokers, and Stranger Things-style retro synths, into a unique musical identity. A collection of singles and EPs drew a devoted fanbase and the attention of Oshie Bichar, bassist for Beartooth. Bichar enlisted his management, and the pair took Archetypes Collide under their wing. Soon after, SiriusXM's Octane got behind songs like "Your Misery," "Becoming What I Hate," and "Above It All." The band appeared on major festivals like Aftershock, Louder Than Life, and Welcome To Rockville, toured with genre giants The Amity Affliction, and crafted an ambitious self-titled debut album for Fearless Records. Archetypes Collide spent several weeks in the first part of 2022 making their inaugural full-length, with a super team surrounding them to execute their vision. Bichar produced alongside Nick Ingram (Dayseeker, Convictions, Hawthorne Heights) at Capital House Studio in Ohio. Additional production came from Jon Eberhard (Skillet, I Prevail, Until I Wake); The Plot In You frontman Landon Tewers lent a creative hand as well. The resulting album, mixed by Jeff Dunne (Ice Nine Kills, Wage War, Make Them Suffer), captures the vibrant spirit of the 2010s-era Warped Tour with a postmodern edge. It's a diverse but singular mission statement, brimming with authenticity and hope. ARCHETYPES COLLIDE aren't bound by preconceived notions or limitations. As single Kyle Pastor explains simply: "Why not take every shot, in every direction, under the umbrella of hard rock and metal?"

Canada's Locket Return With "Sonic Bloom" Video — WATCH

Canada's Locket are back and in a beautiful way.

The alt rock band has shared its first new single in three years in the form of "Sonic Bloom." Watch the video below.

Locket have crafted a downright pretty love letter with "Sonic Bloom." Lyrically, the song is a celebration of love and appreciating the things one has in life. Sonically, the high-energy and buzzy post-hardcore riffs will remind you of your favorite alternative bands of the '00s while the choruses invite singing along while throwing your hands in the air and dancing around the living room like no one is watching. It's a razor sharp anthem with a heart of gold.

"Since the last record was released, a lot has changed. I got married, Cory got married, Travis will be getting married in June— we've all experienced a shift in perspective when it comes to what's most important in our lives now. OVERKILL Bobby Blitz comments, "Man, it seems like for F-in ever since we chatted!!!! Ha! I tell you what, this is the longest ever between Overkill releases, Feb '19 to April '23.

For me, it became my 'peterpandemic' go-to. I wrote my part, tore it down, then again and again. I found myself still changing parts while Colin was mixing!  It became the normal in a very abnormal time, sanity amongst the insanity. Somewhere in 'Scorched' that is all reflected, a common thread, it is the place I went to get what I needed, maybe what "we" needed. It's different, that's for sure an old-school approach/mix in a modern world....was it worth the wait? You tell me.......see ya on the road! Horns up!"

Scorched offered a new recording environment as all members were able to record on their own. The mixing of the record was handled by Colin Richardson and his assistant engineer Chris Clancy. Johnny Rodd helped with producing vocals, and finally, Maor Appelbaum took over mastering and adding finishing touches. The band returned to artist Travis Smith to create the album cover art.

Chase Rice Reveals Emotional "Bench Seat" Accompanied by Short Film Music Video Spotlighting Mental Health

When Chase Rice’s longtime friend came to him with an idea for a song about “a guy and his dog driving around together,” the Diamond-certified songwriter laughed. “That cliché was exactly the type of thing I was trying to avoid on this album,” Rice remembers. And yet, once he sat down with his acoustic guitar to craft what would become one of three solo writes on the forthcoming project, the result was anything but cliché. With “Bench Seat,” available everywhere now, Rice pays tribute to that friend – and the dog that saved his life.
 
“My buddy was in a really dark place – to the point where he was ready to end his own life. It took a lot for him to take me back to that moment, but when he told me what stopped him it stopped me in my tracks: his dog came and laid his head on his lap, and that connection saved him,” Rice explains. “I wrote this song by myself with the point of view from the dog’s perspective – which might not be obvious right away – and what that moment might have meant for the two of them if not for that intervention.”
 
Building upon the emotional backstory of the song, the official music video directed by Kaiser Cunningham offers a seven-plus-minute short film spotlighting the mental health struggle that affects countless people. The video’s intention is to encourage viewers to feel comfortable talking about the topic and seeking the assistance they need, with its conclusion pointing to available resources via wannatalkaboutit.com and encouraging anyone in crisis to call/text 988.
 
“For the first time in my career, I could envision the whole video as I was writing the song,” notes Rice. “I wanted to shine a light on the topic of mental health because this is something that makes way too many people feel alone and especially when addiction becomes part of the picture, one bad moment can have horrible consequences. I personally know how hard it can be to ask for help when you need it, but I hope this helps start a few more conversations and lets people know they really aren’t alone.
 
“When my friend was in that moment, it was impossible to see anything but the heaviness. He was able to get the help he needed, though, and now he’s living a beautiful life and starting a family. That’s what this video is really about – showing you the potential for a happy end to the story if you are able to find a way to get help through the dark times.”
 
The powerful song is one of 13 tracks on Rice’s forthcoming album, I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell, set for release Feb. 10 and showcasing a more raw, vulnerable side of the man praised by Sports Illustrated for “his wild ride to redemption” than on any of his previous studio projects. Recorded during an immersive two-week period at Rice’s farm outside Nashville with producer Oscar Charles and a live band using a makeshift recording setup, the album ranges from admiration of a Western way of life in recent releases “I Hate Cowboys” and “Way Down Yonder” to emotional reckoning in “Key West & Colorado” and today’s “Bench Seat.”
 
Soon, fans will get to hear the new music live on Rice’s Way Down Yonder Tour, set to visit iconic venues such as Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Boston’s House of Blues and Athens’ Georgia Theatre beginning March 3.

ENSLAVED Release New Single "Forest Dweller"

Enslaved have released a new single and video from Heimdal, their 16th studio album due out on March 3rd 2023. 'Forest Dweller' launches with progressive splendor, guiding the listener into a churning, psychedelic journey through archaic Norse folklore. One might ask what lessons we can divine from our celestial ancestors? We might never understand their true intentions, but their echo will live on regardless.

Enslaved's Grutle Kjellson commented,

“To me 'Forest Dweller' was the most immediate song on the album, at least in its earliest form as an instrumental demo. I spent quite some time to get into some of the other songs of the album, but this one seemed somehow logical, well logical by Enslaved standards that is. I had an idea for a lyric, and Ivar’s amazing and diverse riffs on this one made it easy to pan out the scripture. I made a rough plan on what to sing over it, and we actually ended up using some parts of those recordings on the album!

The song sort of showcases our representative samples of inspiration: Led Zep, Genesis, Destruction, Iron Maiden and David Bowie, to mention a schizophrenic tapestry of influences. It mirrors in the lyrics as well, which deals about both darkness and light in connection to the nature of Heimdal.”

Heimdal, is both a departure and a communion with roots forged over three decades ago in the turbulent birth throes of Norway’s black metal scene. The record is named after Heimdal, arguably the most mysterious entity in Nordic mythology.

The record features psychedelic track 'Caravans To The Outer Worlds' from last year's EP of the same name. Album bonus versions contain an extra track, 'Gangandi', alongside a Blu-Ray copy of 2021's stunning Otherworldly Big Band Experience streamed event - the band's boldest project to date, featuring fellow Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant. The kaleidoscopic stage show features a stellar setlist, covering Enslaved's career, both past and present.

Heimdal was produced by Enslaved's own Ivar Bjørnson, Iver Sandøy and Grutle Kjellson. Mixing was handled by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, and the final treatment was mastered by Tony Lindgren. The concept and lyrics for Heimdal was, as always, developed by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson in tandem. 

The album was recorded primarily at Solslottet Studios in Bergen, which is owned by Iver Sandøy. Solslottet is a satellite of the well-known Duper Studios, where the drums were recorded and engineered by Iver himself, with assistance from Vegard Lemme. The main guitars, bass, pianos, organs, and vocals were also recorded at Solslottet. Arve 'Ice Dale' Isdal recorded his guitar leads at his own Earshot & Conclave Studios. The final touches and a few experimental ideas were added at the Overlook Hotel using Solslottet’s mobile studio rig. All music for Heimdal was written and demoed at Ivar Bjørnson’s own Crow’s Nest studio.

DAGON DESTROYER Featured in Cinematic Drum Playthrough of "The Fight Within" by SOCIETY 1!

Last week, SOCIETY 1's new single and music video for “The Fight Within” was released, and they've just shared a cinematic drum playthrough video featuring DAGON DESTROYER!

The music video is directed by LORD ZANE and produced by Dagon Destroyer.

Dagon had this to say about the drum play though video, “This was an interesting composition. I go from straight-ahead, four-on-the-floor, industrial type playing to some tribal-fusion flavor. I really enjoyed this song. The drums are subtle and there's some great nuance going on. I hope you enjoy the video.”

LORD ZANE (SOCIETY 1 Front-man) shared his thoughts about reuniting with Dagon again after 20 years, “Working with Dagon after all these years has been the kick in the ass Society 1 music has needed to get to yet another level. DEATHSTARS - announce New Album "Everything Destroys You"

Swedish industrial cult act DEATHSTARS finally return with their latest sonic output Everything Destroys You, which will be released on May 5th through Nuclear Blast Records.
Their first release in over eight years marks a long-awaited comeback, spotlighting everything that is DEATHSTARS: adrenaline, bombast, sex & glam!

“The reason it’s been taking so long is that we simply wanted - and needed - a break after intense touring and so on, and on top of that the pandemic happened so tours were postponed and the release with them, so it feels fantastic to finally be able to present Everything Destroys You', says Nightmare Industries.

The band are celebrating their return with an amazing video for the first single ´This Is´ .

Frontman Whiplasher Bernadotte stated about the video: "We had a lot of discussions regarding the first video. At some point, it was going to be filmed in Mexico City, the next day Paris or Belgrade but we ended up just filming it in Stockholm, where we live. It was kind of a slimmed-down production, shooting for a couple of days in the old slaughterhouse area in Stockholm.
We wanted to do a video with no green screen or blue box, just a straightforward rock video that illustrates what this band is about in less than four minutes. It was weird shooting it where we did. We actually filmed it in 'Slaktkyrkan', which means 'The slaughter church', and the scenario… well, in one corner you could see a very androgynous looking Cat in high heels with a lot of weird lights all around him, in another corner Nightmare strapped to some fence in a straitjacket, then we had Skinny with a chainsaw and an angle grinder – just decapitating mannequins, Nitro toiling in a sea of fire and drums, and also me with my 130-kilo python, who is 6,30 meters long and her name is Cruella. Interesting creature! She was very heavy to walk around with; sliding around my shoulders and constantly licking my neck with her tongue. We had a good time."

NYC indie pop-rock outfit Gramercy Arms presents 'Tricky Love Stuff', the second taste of their third album 'Deleted Scenes', which will be released via New Jersey-based Magic Door Record Label on March 3.

This song features contributions by the amazingly talented Claudia Chopek on violin, Peter Hess (The World/Inferno Friendship Society, Anti-Social Music) on saxophone and backing vocals by Reneé Lo Bue (Elk City, Flowers of America),Jessie Kilguss and Gary Burton (Dovedale). This star-studded album also involves members of Guided by Voices, Phillip Glass Ensemble, Nada Surf, Luna, Aeon Station, The Little River Band, Elk City, Lloyd Cole and the Negatives, The Dambuilders and Joan As Police Woman.

Gramercy Arms is a revolving collective, masterminded by Dave Derby (The Dambuilders, Lloyd Cole). Inspired by the artistic heyday of ‘70s and ‘80s-era New York City, they make addictive indie pop - exquisite hook-laden melodies filled with lyrics that will have you floating back in time, remembering your favorite mistake.

"'Tricky Love Stuff' is a happy-sad pop song about teenage high school romance mixed in with adolescent awkwardness and I guess is actually fairly autobiographical," says Dave Derby.

Earlier, Gramercy Arms released 'Yesterday's Girl', penned by Derby and music legend Lloyd Cole (with video by acclaimed visual artist Debora Francis) for Darlene Love. Artfully reimagined as a duet with Derby and Renée Lo Bue, they also released an acoustic version of this song, performed live at the Magic Door Recording Studio in Montclair, NJ.

Produced, recorded and mixed by Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Elk City) at Magic Door Recording, this album was mastered by award-winning engineer Greg Calbi (John Lennon, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Tom Petty, Todd Rundgren).

Lyrically driven and rich on vocal-harmony, interspersed with elements of 60s sunshine pop and folk-rock, 'Deleted Scene' follows previous albums 'The Seasons of Love' (2012) and 'Gramercy Arms' (2008).

The apocalypse is nigh and Finnish grindcore entity ROTTEN SOUND has crafted the perfect soundtrack to accompany humanity’s impending extinction. Aptly titled ‘Apocalypse,’ the band’s eighth studio album is dropping into 2023 with the same blistering speed and chaotic impetus as an asteroid searing through atmosphere and crushing everything upon impact.

URIAH HEEP RELEASE SECOND SINGLE “HURRICANE” CHAOS & COLOUR NEARS RELEASE

British hard rock legends and progenators Uriah Heep release the second single “Hurricane”, taken from their twenty-fifth studio album Chaos & Colour, set for release January 27th, 2023 via Silver Lining Music.  

The anthemic and epic “Hurricane” carries an underlying historical and mythological theme. 

Co-writer and drummer Russell Gilbrook explains: “Simon (Pinto) and I wrote the song about how our ancestors looked at storms and how these can be interpreted as being messages from the Gods… Their power is awesome and a great inspiration for a rocking track!”

Chaos & Colour second single, “Hurricane”, is accompanied by a lyric video available to watch below.

Founding member Mick Box comments: “Music and lyrics are of paramount importance to me… I used to hate those ‘80s MTV million dollar videos as they created such a visual image that all calls to imagination were lost because you didn’t have to think. I think the power of music and lyrics are that they do certain things to certain people.”
