CINNAMON BABE Premieres "Loose" Music Video via Dread Central (Exclusive)

One of the most outspoken and controversial newcomers in heavy music, CINNAMON BABE isn't backing down from detractors with their latest single, "Loose". The LA-based nu-metal band helmed by model/actress Stormi Maya has partnered with Dread Central to premiere the horror-inspired music video for the track. The "Loose" video was directed byAlison-Eve Hammersley; a 2019 Lena Waithe AT&T Hello Lab mentee, with directing credits for short films like Fragile.com and You'll Only Have Each Other.

Watch the "Loose" video below

Speaking on the topics of misogyny and sex work, and how they influenced "Loose",Stormi comments:

“Sex work is what I turned to for survival when I was a teenager leaving foster care and dealing with homelessness. I was going back and forth from minimum wage jobs, but it was never enough to pay bills, especially in New York City. I first got into stripping at 18, and I stuck with it for a couple years. I also was a dominatrix, sugar baby, and nude model. In those years, I dealt with a lot of mistreatment, harassment, and abuse from the same men that wanted me for my sexuality. Within the strip club, a lot of the same men that were there paying for my service were the same men that were looking down on me."

Maya adds, "It’s hard to accept that the men I make feel good with my images and company are the same men that turn on me and call me out by name when they don’t get their way. I stand with sex workers no matter their gender. I hope they legalize sex work so it can be protected and girls can rely on law enforcement for protection instead of pimps. I wish we lived in a world where adults having consensual sex and being sexual wasn’t so taboo. My biggest inspiration for the song was ‘Whore’ by In This Moment. That song empowered me so much. Because it’s true – they love me for everything they hate me for."

"Loose" was engineered and produced by Esjay Jones & J.R. Bareis (Love & Death, Spoken), mixed by Joe Rickard, and mastered by Niels Nielsen (Ghost, Starset, In Flames).

Press Reactions to "Rock 'N' Roll Is Black"...

"Cinnamon Babe is letting everyone know where she stands at the crossroads of rock and race." -Loudwire

"On the incendiary single Rock And Roll Is Black — Influenced by Rage Against The Machine’s Take The Power Back, she rails against the gatekeeping of metal from its black originators." Metal Hammer

"For Stormi, Cinnamon Babe is a labor of love, an expression of anguish and strength born out of a difficult upbringing and a devotion to alternative music." - Metal Sucks

"That anyone questions the black roots of rock in this day and age is frankly flabbergasting but, again, it probably shouldn’t be. Hopefully, the likes of Maya can educate a few people." - Idobi Radio

Randy Houser Releases "Country Round Here Tonight" Ahead of Forthcoming Album 'Note To Self' set for 11/11

RANDY HOUSER READIES FANS FOR FORTHCOMING ALBUM WITH
COUNTRY ROUND HERE TONIGHT

Produced by Houser and Blake Chancey, Note To Self is Set for Release
Friday, November 11; Pre-Order and Pre-Save
HERE

Title Track Continues Climbing the Charts at Country Radio

With his sixth studio album Note To Self set for November 11 via Magnolia Music Group, the Billboard lauded “golden-voiced Mississippi native” Randy Houser releases “Country Round Here Tonight.” Listen to the song below and pre-order/pre-save Note To Self HERE.

True to its name, “Country Round Here Tonight” is a steel guitar and fiddle-laced track written by Houser with Brice Long and Jeff Hyde, reminiscent of the classic country hits of the 90s’ and creates a feeling of nostalgia as Houser croons about a small-town spot where everyone goes to unwind and spend their paycheck:

There’s a backed up line of four wheel drives
Filling up the parking lot
This little bar they call a hole in the wall
Is everybody’s favorite spot
There’s a saw dust floor waiting on the door
To swing wide open, let us all inside
Paycheck cash is gonna go fast
‘Bout to get country round here tonight

For all them boys in the fields making dollar bills
Stacking that hay up high
All them girls in the sand working on their tans
Down by the riverside
Getting through the day, hell, they just can’t wait
To congregate round a cold beer sign
Tie one on to a jukebox song
‘Bout to get country round here tonight

Ahead of the release of Note To Self, Houser has shared multiple tracks, with Whiskey Riff observing, “It’s easy to see that his whole album is full of deep reflection from Houser throughout his life. This is gonna be a good.”

Currently Top 40 and climbing the charts at Country radio, “Note To Self,” Houser’s first taste of new music since 2019’s critically-acclaimed Magnolia, marked his “powerful return” with MusicRow boasting the Mississippi-native “remains one of country music’s very finest vocalists. His return is most welcome, especially with such a strong song of regretful hindsight. His extraordinary voice is absolutely fierce as this hair-raising pile driver reaches its climax.”

Rub A Little Dirt On It” delivers some much-needed wisdom that’s often forgotten in our fast-paced world – that difficult times are only temporary, sometimes alleviated by turning to places of beauty and tranquility, with Country Now sharing the song “acts as a reminder that with a little help from those places of stability, the tough days start to feel more insignificant over time.”

Workin’ Man” illuminates the tenacity and persistence of America’s blue-collar workers among the struggles they face day-to-day to support themselves and their families, with Billboard praising, “Houser yields his enviable vocals with a rough-hewn delivery that lends grit to this radio-friendly track,” while MusicRow calls it a “rousing blue-collar anthem” that Houser sings with “a barn-burner baritone that dips and growls in all the right places.”

Album opener “Still That Cowboy” was written by Houser, Matt Rogers and Josh Hoge as an ode to his wife Tatiana as the couple prepares for their second child together, with CMT.com sharing, “Houser has never been afraid to sing country music, and ‘Still That Cowboy’ spotlights the genre’s tenets as much as anything Houser has ever released. His baritone rings against the backdrop of the pedal steel guitar as he delivers the song written for his wife.”

With multiple sold-out shows so far in 2022, including an at-capacity stop at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, Houser wrapped his co-headlining tour with longtime friend Jamey Johnson in April and is currently on the road with Cody Johnson. Along with preparing new music and a relentless touring schedule, Houser landed on-screen roles in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming film Killers of the Flower Moon starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and more, as well as the inspiring The Hill starring Dennis Quaid.

Melodic Death Metal Unit WOLFHEART Unleashes New Official Video for “Knell”

New Album, 'King of the North',

Out Now I Order Your Copy HERE!

Melodic death metal powerhouse WOLFHEART have shared their new official video for the blistering song “Knell”, cut from their recently released full-length studio album, 'King of the North', out now via Napalm Records.

Following the sonic legacy of their previous albums, 'King of the North' resonates with their trademark blend of colossal melodies, earth shaking vocals, gripping lyricism and driving rhythms. After the release of the album and their subsequent, recently wrapped European tour, WOLFHEART strengthen their howls for another round.

Knell”, the third song on the album, befittingly continues the electrifying mood of the previous songs, creating epic soundscapes along the way. Skillfully combining powerful riffs, hefty instrumentals and earthshaking vocals, WOLFHEART show their insatiable hunger for the art of melodic death metal.

The new video matches this mood perfectly, relentlessly pulling audiences into the exhilarating world of 'King of the North'.

WOLFHEART’s guitarist/vocalist Tuomas Saukkonen adds:

"After an agonizing three years of waiting to get back on the road, it was like an early Christmas, birthday and all the kinder eggs from Easter combined to share a tour with the magnificent ULTIMA RATIO package and get to play new songs to our fans across Europe. Having a video shot from the tour is the best way to remember the awesome crew we had, top notch venue staff and especially all those hands in the air, voices from the crowd and the connection between us and the audience interweaved by the music."

Discover distant realms of northern mythology with melodic death triumph 'King of the North'!

Each song on 'King of the North' is dedicated to a different story of Finnish mythology – underlined by WOLFHEART’s grand, crushing songwriting and production. The King, for instance, tells the tale of the forest god with horns and pianos accompanying heavy guitar riffs and solos, before raising the energy levels once more on the relentless Cold Flame” featuring Karl Sanders.

Ancestor is the album’s most frostbitten anthem, unleashing WOLFHEART’s acclaimed brand of crushing blast beasts and cutting-edge vocal performances alongside guest Jesse Leach of Killswitch Engage.

'King of the North' is a true masterpiece of melodic death metal, crafted with loads of attention to detail and intricate mythology-driven storytelling – showcasing WOLFHEARTat never-before-heard artistic levels!

Tuomas Saukkonen about 'King of the North':

"After 'Wolves of Karelia', it made a lot of sense to continue writing thematic albums, but this time I wanted to travel a lot further in history than the Second World War and went straight to tales about creation of the Nordic world, ancient gods of the north and majestic nature. The colorful theme also inspired me to write the musically most diverseWOLFHEART album and also bring the biggest variation of vocals than ever before, putting Lauri and Vageliss in their well-earned spotlight."

OBSIDIOUS Premieres Performance Video for New Song, "I Am"

PRE-ORDER

Modern progressive metal outfit OBSIDIOUS is now releasing a brand new performance video for the new single, "I Am." The track is taken from the band's upcoming debut album, 'Iconic,' which will be released tomorrow, October 28, 2022 via Season of Mist! The video was shot during the band's performance at the mighty Euroblast festival, which took place in September 2022. The video can be seen below.

OBSIDIOUS comments: "The concept of the lyrics of this song is a little more abstract. It is the personification of a feeling speaking to its host, presenting itself and convincing the host to embrace it and ultimately succumb to it. It is like the biblical story of temptation being represented by the devil, but, in this case, without the willpower to resist.”

'Iconic' can be pre-ordered on physical formats HERE while you can pre-save the album to all streaming services HERE.

Modern metallers Obsidious launch their wonderfully intricate and musically-accomplished new album, Iconic, via Season of Mist. The group—featuring Linus Klausenitzer (bass), Rafael Trujillo (guitars), Sebastian Lanser (drums), and vocalist Javi Perera (vocals)—come from distinguished and lettered origins in Obscura, Alkaloid, Eternity’s End, and Juggernaut. Obsidious, however, are a different creature entirely. Iconic is technical but not officious. The album breathes intensity but expands upon it with mellifluent dexterity. With Obsidious, there’s always a hook. The early release of and positive feedback from video singles “Under Black Skies,” “Sense of Lust,” and the title track illustrates these qualities well. Iconic builds upon a prestigious foundation, but its vision isn’t restricted to its tenets.

“We consider ourselves the modern evolution of progressive and technical metal,” bassist Linus Klausenitzer says. “To name a few bands: Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, Meshuggah, Opeth, Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, Periphery, and Haken. As such, our music asks for many different moods and vibes. Javi’s vocals reinforce that idea, adding meaning and drama to it. While we still work as session musicians, Obsidious is now our main priority.”

Obsidious crystallized after Klausenitzer, Trujillo, and Lanser departed amicably from fellow German tech-metallers Obscura in 2020. Named after black volcanic glass, the group’s moniker exudes something dark, of fiery origin, in a state of final transformation. Metaphorically, the name Obsidious offers a nearly limitless platform for expression and advancement. However, it was only when the trio brought on newcomer Perera—whose growls and full-toned voice are first-rate—were the multi-national outfit officially codified. Interestingly enough, the newly-joined frontman couldn’t even meet his bandmates while the band wrote, recorded, and filmed videos for Iconic due to the pandemic. Yet, the technologically-apt foursome made it work.

Iconic is an album of manifold extremes. “Sense of Lust,” “I Am,” and “Devotion,” for example, pivot on heavy rhythmic axes, their intense grooves seamlessly unifying with ample doses of atmospheric dissonance. “Under Black Skies,” “Delusion,” and the title track, on the other hand, are nimbly expeditious, with Perera’s considerable vocal talents complementing Trujillo, Klausenitzer, and Lanser’s angularly-involved, smartly-experimental songcraft. As for “Iron Dust,” “Lake of Afterlife,” and the massive chorus in the ferocious “Bound by Fire,” they offer a more straightforward (yet ebullient) musical and aesthetic posture. Throughout Iconic, Obsidious impress with their artistic inventiveness and creative expanse.

“Seventy-five percent of the band members were part of Obscura, so we knew what most of our fans like and what they don’t,” says Klausenitzer. “When we decided to integrate clean vocals, we knew that the reactions would be controversial. But we like to push the boundaries. We don’t like to stand still musically—we want to add something fresh to metal. This is why this band is so special for some listeners already.”

Lyrically, Perera tackles human-relatable topics throughout Iconic. While his modern metal peers abstractly traverse the vagaries of the universe, the singer hits home where and when it matters. Disaster in any form is trauma-inducing, and this is at the heart of Under Black Skies, where a tremendous yet preventable calamity descends on a petty yet desperate populace. BDSM, an uncommon topic in metaldom, carries through “Sense of Lust.” Here, sex and the power of and subsequent joy by the submissive are explored. The title track, “Iconic,” discusses dementia. Perera’s profession outside of Obsidious is in healthcare, and he’s seen firsthand how the mental disorder traps and torments. Iconic is a showcase in multiplicity.

“This album does not have a concept per se in terms of lyrics or an underlying storyline,” vocalist Javi Perera says. “The songs on this album touch on subjects of diverse nature, and there are even some songs that narrate personal experiences. But what I can consider as a common denominator in the album is the absence of constraints on a compositional or stylistic level, allowing us the freedom to shift between different musical genres as long as the song requires it. I always consider that we, as artists and musicians, are at the service of the music and not the other way around.”

Extensive pre-production aided in Obsidious handling a pandemic-era recording process for Iconic. For the official sessions, the group spread out parts to several different studios. Firstly, Lanser kicked Iconic into gear by recording drums at Lanser Studios in Salzburg, Austria. The rest of Obsidious holed up in Woodshed Studios in Fürth, Germany, where producer V. Santura (Triptykon, Obscura) tracked guitars, bass, vocals, synths, and sound effects. Vocal overdubs and additional soundscaping were taken to TheRedHouse Studio in Cambridge, England. Obsidious then handed the finalized pieces back to V. Santura to mix and master. Even though Iconic was a non-linear undertaking, it sounds absolutely monumental.

“The pre-production was very professional,” says Klausenitzer. “So, we already had an idea of what we wanted the songs to sound like—we had a specific sonic goal in mind. We had already worked with V. Santura before, so we knew what to expect in that regard. The recording sessions were, if anything, straightforward. When V. Santura completed the final master, we knew we had created something unique and special—the Obsidious sound!”

Obisidious are ready to deploy their unique brand of hooky neoteric metal on Iconic. From Trujillo’s wickedly clever riffs and Lanser’s artful drumming to Klausenitzer’s superb counterpoint and Perera’s soaring vocals/venomous spits, songs like “Under Black Skies,” “Iconic,” “Bound by Fire,” and “Nowhere” brim with cool calculation and aggressive spontaneity. They storm normality not only musically and lyrically. The monolithic cover piece by French graphic artist Adrien Bousson (Rotting Christ, Khonsu) also transcends convention. Obsidious are poised for a breakthrough on Iconic. Prepare for metal’s modern metamorphosis!

Nordic folk band Vévaki Shares Video Stream for New Album, 'Fórnspeki'

Dark neo-folk collective VÉVAKI will be releasing its sophomore full-length,‘Fórnspeki,' tomorrow, October 28, 2022 via Season of Mist, making it the band's debut to the label! The Nordic folk newcomers are now sharing a stunning video stream of the upcoming album in its entirety ahead of tomorrow's release! The album can be seen and heard below

Originally a solo project by singer and multi-instrumentalist Will Hunter,VÉVAKI is a folk band which draws from Nordic heathenism and animistic traditions. Myth, ritual and a connection with the natural world inform VÉVAKI’s music, which is both contemporary in sound and wide-ranging in instrumentation.

The record is now available for pre-ordering in the Season of Mist store HEREand can be pre-saved across streaming services HERE.

Debut album ‘Edda’ came in 2020 when VÉVAKI was a still a solo project, although Sigurboði Grétarsson and Florian Baudrain made contributions. Taking a collection of Old Norse poetry – the Poetic Edda – as its source material, ‘Edda’ breaths new life into these stories through its musical journey, at once beautiful and hypnotically heady.

VÉVAKI’s second album, ‘Fórnspeki’, finds the band expanding upon their sound while staying true to their folk roots and traditions. Sigurboði Grétarsson has joined VÉVAKI as a full-time member, as has Gísli Gunnarsson and Hrafnhildur Inga Guðjónsdóttir. The new material is, says Will, broader and more mature sounding.

VÉVAKI is very much based in our modern heathen tradition,” Will notes. “Sigurboði and I had been playing music for a while and we have used music as part of our personal spiritual practise. We had worked on some songs together but they were very much personal. Then we had a jam session in this cave in Iceland and afterwards we tried to record a song. I asked if Sigurboði would feature on it and he said yes, thankfully. Then I went home and used my home recording equipment to do a song which we sent to Danheim (Danish folk musician) and he put me on his online record label. And that’s howVÉVAKI started. We did a full album from there. Sigurboði featured heavily on it, even though he wasn’t in the band in any official capacity. But he did lots of drums and vocals and stuff like that.”

VÉVAKI employ various stringed instruments and percussion throughout their music, its dynamics buoyed by the complementary vocal styles of Will, Sigurboði and Hrafnhildur and the cinematic soundscapes sculpted by Gísli Gunnarsson. This comes to the fore on ‘Fórnspeki’.

“We decided to go a bit bigger,” says Will. “We started working on the second album and we brought in Gísli, and the sound has changed quite a bit, I think. It’s much more mature now. In my opinion, Gísli is the glue that holds us together. He comes from a modern classical background. And Hrafnhildur was an obvious choice, to add an important female dynamic. Her voice has a healing quality to it, I think, and that’s a big thing with the new album.”

Ritual and spiritual practises provide a structure to ‘Fórnspeki’.
“Our practice is very animistic,” says Will. “But you don’t have to be a super spiritual person to feel some sort of connection to nature. And we just hope that whoever is listening finds that our music brings some sort of connection for them.

Sigurboði adds, “‘Fórnspeki’ was composed around this concept of the ritual and of the performance. There will be a performance and ritual on stage, because that’s how the songs are imagined. And some of the songs came from rituals that we’ve done or have spawned from the rituals. For example, the song ‘Dísablót’ is based around a ritual that we would do. It’s got lots of chants in there that we would do and we hope that other people might be inspired. On this new album we have a lot of original lyrics. But it’s both based in the myth and the practice. It’s not all about the gods but also about the worship and the ritual.”

VÉVAKI is a fluid and resourceful project, employing traditional and contemporary instrumentation of various origins.

“We’re not going for historical accuracy,” points out Sigurboði. “We’re not married to the idea that it has to be a Nordic instrument. We’re not Vikings. We’re not the Shamans, or the Priests. We are the practitioners, the regular folk making the offerings.”

Adds Will, “We are trying to step away from that whole Viking thing. There are modern songs for modern beliefs. We put a lot of emphasis on that.”

About Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs
The Dirty Knobs came together nearly two decades ago. What began as a less structured project for Campbell in between The Heartbreakers’ touring became something else altogether when they added the rhythm section of bassist Lance Morrison (Don Henley) and drummer Matt Laug (Slash, Alanis Morrissette).

What followed was several years of intimate, almost incognito, performances in the band’s home base of Los Angeles and surrounding Southern California cities. After all those years playing together, it became clear The Dirty Knobs should take what they were doing to the next level. Following the passing of Campbell’s longtime compatriot, friend and bandmate Tom Petty and his performances with Fleetwood Mac on their 2018-2019 World Tour, The Dirty Knobs released their album Wreckless Abandon in 2020 to widespread praise; Forbes declared, “The aptly titledWreckless Abandon is a wholly rollicking, joyous affair, a record whose 13 songs recall some of Campbell’s finest recorded moments alongside Petty as co-writer,” while American Songwriter proclaimed, “[Mike Campbell] doesn’t diverge from the essential sound of The Heartbreakers as much as it celebrates and builds on the legacy he helped establish.”

External Combustion, the new album from Mike Campbell & The Dirty Knobs, released earlier this year via BMG represents Campbell’s second as a band leader, following up Campbell & The Dirty Knobs’ 2020 critically acclaimed debut album, Wreckless Abandon.

Sunset Strip–era rock & roll never died and it’s finally making a comeback. When Hollywood films and streaming hits like Peacemaker (HBO Max) feature music from LA GunsPretty Boy Floyd, and Vain, it's proof that 80s hard rock is primed for a resurgence. Enter American Jetset.

Following the news that they will make history as the first extreme metal band to headline the Kia Forum this December, undisputed kings of Viking heavy metal, Amon Amarth, have today announced that the historic evening will be celebrated with another first of its kind as terrestrial radio’s queen of hard rock Full Metal Jackie combines forces with Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin (Liquid Metal) to co-present the Los Angeles event in celebration of the metal genre.

Amon Amarth will be bringing their infamous theater production to their North American tour, a spectacle that fans have come to expect over the course of their touring career. Additionally, full-scale European production is coming to North American arenas this winter when they play the world famous Los Angeles Kia Forum, Place Bell in Montreal and Hammerstein ballroom in New York City as part of their gargantuan The Great Heathen Tour. The band have released a brand new tour teaser which gives fans a small taste of what to expect and can be viewed HERE or by clicking the image below. Along with their awe-inspiring stage show, featuring Viking ships, a Viking helmet drum riser, live battle reenactments, the now infamous "Viking Row" and enough pyro to raze several villages to the ground, Amon Amarth will also be bringing one of the best lineups of the year with them as they are joined for the full run by fellow genre legends Carcass, Obituary and Cattle Decapitation. These history making shows will see Amon Amarth become the first ever extreme metal band to headline arenas in North America. A truly exceptional feat for a European viking metal band who started touring the US in the early 2000’s, playing bars and clubs.

Speaking on their upcoming North American raid, Amon Amarth share;

“Heathens! Come make a battle to remember with us on these monumental and historic raids along with our fellow brothers in metal Carcass, Obituary and Cattle Decapitation. Let’s make these the biggest death metal shows in history in this country! Bring your viking spirit and get ready to raise your horns and row like you’ve never rowed before! See you at the shows!”

A new force, LEAGUE OF DISTORTION unite to defeat the shadows cast upon the music scene with their fresh sound and style! Back in 2017, Anna Brunner celebrated remarkable international success with her symphonic metal band Exit Eden and has now teamed up with notorious guitarist Jim Müller of renowned heavy metal band Kissin’ Dynamite.

Together, they’ve formed one of the hottest new modern metal bands of the year, combining their signature sounds to create a powerful soundscape. Now, they are ready to fight the darkness yet again with their 2022 full-length, the self-titled debut album, 'League of Distortion'.

Lifting the dark veil of stagnation caused by the pandemic, LEAGUE OF DISTORTIONintroduce a new sound that resonates with the uncertainty of this period. Wolf or Lamb - the addictive first stand-alone single that introduced the band as a force to be reckoned with - ignites the fire of the full album. Rebel By Choice and The Bitter End” show the band’s burning passion and dedication to the genre, while My Revenge” convinces with a catchy hook and bashing guitar riffs.

The elemental force of Anna “Ace” Brunner’s distorted, powerful voice merged with chunky riffs played by Jim “Arro” Müller, steady and strong beats delivered by Tino “Aeon” Calmbach and edgy bass by Felix “Ax” Rehmann unifies them, forming a strong blast of an album that cannot be missed! LEAGUE OF DISTORTION showcase the individual musical expertise of its members without ever becoming stagnant or pretentious - unabashedly distorting the order and launching a new age of metal. Songs like I’m A Bitch and It Hurts So Good abandon all rules, while catchy hooks like in “L.O.D.” mark anthems to claim their new reign. With songs like Solitary Confinement and Sin, the band shows their lyrical depth by turning their sadness into a powerful war cry, providing expressive pieces and hymns for the lost.

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION convinces with classic pieces featuring strong instrumentals, on-the-nose lyrics and energetic vocals, proving their penchant to stand out from the pack. They’ve transformed their frustration into a musical statement beyond comparison. The band on their debut album:

"With this debut album, we lay the cornerstone of LEAGUE OF DISTORTION. JOHN DEMENA Releases Music Video for Cover of The Doors "People Are Strange"

JOHN DEMENA Releases Music Video for Cover of

The Doors "People Are Strange"

Nominated for 2022 Hollywood Music In Media Awards

Rock solo artist John DeMena has released a cover of The Doors "People Are Strange", along with a music video for the track. The LA-based DeMena's homage to the 1967 classic is part of a compilation series honoring music from artists including The Doors, Talking Heads, and Warren Zevon, which will be released via Rhino Entertainment. Speaking about the cover, DeMena comments:

“I wanted to pay tribute to this timeless classic with a cover that stayed true to the essence and soul of the original while also taking the song through different sonic landscapes.”

Personnel on the cover of "People Are Strange" is comprised of John DeMena (vocals, guitar, bass), along with Jimmy Kimmel Live keyboardist Jeff Babko and drummerCristian Chiloe. The track was mastered by legendary audio engineer Dave Collins(Metallica, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains). The music video was directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films, whose credits include Cradle Of Filth, Suicide Silence, Mr. Big, and Sons of Apollo.

In addition to the release of the "People Are Strange"cover, John DeMena has been nominated for a 2022 Hollywood Music In Media Award for his "Eternal Eyes" music video. The event is scheduled to be held at The Avalon in Hollywood on November 16, and a list of nominees can be found here.

Watch the video for "Eternal Eyes" HERE

John DeMena is an award-nominated rock singer and guitarist from Los Angeles who has worked with producers and musicians of Alice Cooper, Jane’s Addiction, and Jimmy Kimmel among others. One of the benefits of today’s musical landscape is the breadth with which artists can record and produce their compositions, from famous acts to talented emerging artists. That’s certainly the case with John DeMena, who wrote and produced his upcoming debut album Dreams and Lies entirely by himself. As he points out, “after moving to Los Angeles and not being able to find anyone artistically aligned with me, I had to take a DIY approach and do everything myself. It was the only way forward.” For a couple of years, he wrote nonstop, picked other instruments, penned all lyrics, and used software to program drums and other instruments in pre-production before seeking out session players for this debut.

He then recruited musicians Glen Sobel, Pete Griffin, and Matt Rohde to record the drum, bass, and keyboard parts respectively, and took on the guitar and vocal duties himself. Lastly, he invited axeman John Ziegler, who plays in Volto! alongside Tool’s Danny Carey for one guest solo on Angel City. John DeMena self-released an early mix of this debut in 2019 that got the attention of several record labels, iconic brands such as PRS Guitars (which hand-picked him as one of their new artists), earned him a nomination for a 2020 Hollywood Music in Media Award under the best rock song category for his song Eternal Eyes (previous winners of these awards include artists such as Trent Reznor or Amy Lee (Evanescence) and a deal with Vere Music (Warner ADA) for the release of his debut album in early 2023.

Of course, DeMena’s journey wasn’t exactly easy. After emigrating from Spain to the United States in 2008, he found himself jobless, contactless, and without even a driver’s license or sufficient work experience. He explains: “I didn’t even have credit, so I couldn’t rent a place. Instead, I had to live in hostels and other inhospitable places for six months. Then, the recession hit, and I was laid off four years in a row. I spent years going from job to job, so those first years in L.A. were excruciatingly painful and lonely.” Never one to give up, he continued believing in himself and pushing forward; that resolve assisted in strengthening his character and moving him toward his main goal: a career in music. “Those experiences separated the boy from the man, in a manner of speaking, and helped me develop a military-style discipline and get to know myself better,” he adds.

Inspired by legendary groups like Pink Floyd, Bowie, Alice in Chains, Pantera, Radiohead, NIN, and AC/DC—all of whom can be felt within Dreams and Lies to varying degrees—John DeMena set out to not put any limits to his creativity while presenting the listener with a personal and modern sound. Going back to “Eternal Eyes,” it was also turned into a music video by animator/filmmaker Ishan Shukla (whose work has won dozens of international awards and been featured at over one hundred film festivals). As with making the album itself, DeMena found their partnership demanding yet immensely gratifying: “I reached out to him with a mostly formed idea of how I wanted the storyline, aesthetics, and visual world to be. Then, we modified sections and let it all evolve organically. I can’t thank him enough for his patience.”

NYC-French duo Frenchy and the Punk preview 'Zen Ghost' with latest Siouxsie-esque single 'Come In and Play'

"Explosive, subdued, confrontational, soothing, spikey, and accessible, an incredible blend of alt-rock shade and alt-folk light" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Penetrating psych-soaked post-punk... Brimming with their signature cinematic drama and that unforgettable voice" ~ Global Texan Chronicles

"Bombastic... a happy medium between the sonic atmosphere and thoughtful melancholy of post-punk music and the unmistakable drama of cabaret... as beautifully manic as some of the finest artists on America's early punk' scene" ~Amplify Music Magazine

"An inspiriting slice of post punk hued, new wave nurtured rock ‘n’ roll... under the skin and hungrily stirring the imagination in a flash" ~ Ringmaster Review

NYC-based postpunk duo Frenchy and the Punk has released 'Come In and Play', an upbeat Siouxsie-esque delight and the second enchanting single from their forthcoming 'Zen Ghost' album. Their seventh long-player record, this will be released via the EA Recordings label on October 28.

Frenchy and the Punk is vocalist, percussionist and lyricist Samantha Stephensonand guitarist-composer Scott Helland, who was co-founder and bassist ofOutpatients and also Deep Wound (along with Dinosaur Jr. founders J Mascis andLou Barlow). Influenced by The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Blondie, Concrete Blonde and The B52’s, the duo thrive in their trademark blend of post-punk and dark folk music.

About 'Come In and Play', Samantha Stephenson says, "I was named after the character in Bewitched. My mom was a fan of the show. It sparked a curiosity and enthusiasm for all things mystical and magical from an early age. I could be quite solitary and eventually dove into a meditation practice. That feeling of going inward and exploring the inner workings of the esoteric realm always felt very comforting."

Earlier, the band released the lead track 'Mon Souvenir', an unapologetically new wave nugget, propelled by chugging acoustic chords, that reflects the album’s central theme of transcending ‘mind phantoms’ - the experiences from the past that linger within all of us.

Dark times make for dark songs. 'Zen Ghost' was written and recorded during the downtime of 2020-2021. Here, the duo's shadowy sound takes an even darker turn. An inward spin, into the pair’s previously unexplored personal planes and interpretations of the insanity of our increasingly tumultuous age. But despite its more pronounced moodiness, like the rest of the band’s oeuvre, 'Zen Ghost' offers plenty of opportunities to dance in the darkness.

Tapped as one of the Top 25 duos in the US by Yahoo! Music, the freewheeling pair has released numerous recordings, including the acclaimed albums 'Happy Madness' (2010), 'Hey Hey Cabaret' (2012), 'Elephant Uproar' (2013), 'Cartwheels' (2014), 'Bonjour Batfrog' (2014), and 'Hooray Beret' (2019).

French-born, but raised in the UK and USA, Stephenson’s study of piano and dance ignited her eventual rejection of corporate conformity and fueled a quest to lead a truly autonomous life through art and music. A son of jazz-loving teachers, Helland grew up in Western Massachusetts and was a vital player on the region’s fertile early hardcore punk scene.

Helland and Stephenson met in NYC in 1998, when Stephenson spontaneously jumped on stage to accompany Helland during his solo guitar performance. The artistic union was immediate, powerful and undeniable. The two began to tour with fevered zeal, turning heads with their striking aesthetic, steadily building fervent fans on the mystical-folk/steampunk festival, coffeehouse, convention, and club circuits with their boisterous, revival-like live shows.

Since then, they've performed live with Dead Can Dance's Peter Ulrich and Dresden Dolls' Brian Viglione, and opened for Thomas Dolby, Dinosaur Jr., The World Inferno Friendship Society, Rasputina, Cruxshadows, Hurray For The Riff Raff and The Young Dubliners.

'Come in and Play' is now out everywhere, including Apple Music,Spotify and Bandcamp, where 'Mon Souvenir' can also be found. The 'Zen Ghost' album will be released on October 28 and is available for pre-order digitally viaBandcamp and on CD via the band's website.

A SHORELINE DREAM presents 'Harlow Syndrome' from new 'Loveblind' album.

"Delicate curves and beauty... a glorious dawn" PopMatters

"Goth heaven... one of the leading lights of the neo-shoegaze movement" DKFM

"A sonorous journey – a inward looking, lush and wonderfully orchestrated sonic adventure with dark intensity" ~ Spill Magazine

"A wild and beautiful thing" The Big Takeover

"Shadowy and storming dreaminess.. reminiscent" Stereo Embers Magazine

Iconic shoegaze / postpunk outfit A Shoreline Dream presents 'Harlow Syndrome', the latest audio-visual offering from their new 'Loveblind' album, released viaLatenight Weeknight Records. Their sixth full-length record dives into recollections and past desires while looking forward in a wash of soundwaves pointing towards a blinding future.

Filmed in Denver & Littleton, Colorado and starring Jessica Halpine and Allan Cutler, this video was filmed, direct and edited by Ryan Policky with costumes byTiffany Smyth and Jessica Halrpine.

"My first intention was to create a video for the moment I thought I was passing away, which goes along with that track. I personally feel it's one of the best on the album after giving it some time to settle," says ASD mastermind Ryan Policky.

"This 'Loveblind' album is an introspective view of things building all the way up, then crashing back down - like relationships that try to rekindle, only to find that the original reason for the failure has grown even stronger. The songs and driving energy behind each represents rare moments of true passion and also those of complete devastation. Even in perceived time of feeling, things couldn’t get any better, a finality lies waiting behind the next corner".

Their first release since the Covid pandemic began, offering 40 minutes of goth-laced progressive soundscapes, the band had previewed thelead tracks 'Alarms Stop Ringing' and the album's title track 'Loveblind'. Produced by Ryan Policky and recorded over 10 months in the Barnum suburb of Denver, Colorado, this album features immense synth layers, the band's signature guitar and symphonic vocals.

In 2020, A Shoreline Dream released their 'Melting' album (2020), the latest in a series of critically acclaimed releases. Formed in 2005, today ASD revolves around two original members - multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Ryan Policky and guitarist Erik Jeffries. Their legacy is further rounded out thanks to collaborations with legends such as Ulrich Schnauss, Mark Kramer and The Engineers (for whom they created a remix for progressive label gods K-Scope). Also of note is the fact that the band also opened for Chapterhouse for their very final appearance.

The pandemic has taken its toll on our mental well-being and the perception of money and power has blown previous years away. Dying to get back to the good times and moments of pure, unscathed lust, we long for new experiences to sweep us off our feet. 'Loveblind' reaches for that same energy, taking cues from previous A Shoreline Dream works, drawing from their progressive goth roots. Layers of moodiness, blissful explosions of rock and chugging tempo mix with the pain, love, hope and moments of near death experienced while creating the album itself.

The 'Loveblind' LP is out now, available everywhere online, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. The band has also announced a vinyl pre-order for their seminal 'Recollections of Memory' LP (featuring Ulrich Schnauss) on vinyl, as well as their 'Avoiding the Consequences' LP.

INSANITY ALERT Reissues 'Moshburger,' Shares Live Video from Wacken

INSANITY ALERT
Re-issues 2016's 'Moshburger,'
Releases Live Footage from
Wacken Open Air 2022

PRE-ORDER

Party hard and mosh even harder with the reissue of 'Moshburger,' the 2016 feel-good opus from crossover thrashers INSANITY ALERT. Not only does the Austrian party brigade know how to craft the perfect anthem for beer drinkers and bong rippers, but they are also asking the important questions here, like “Why Is David Guetta Still Alive?”

In celebration, INSANITY ALERT is releasing a brand new live video for the track "Desinfektor," which was shot during their performance at the mighty Wacken Open Air in August 2022. The clip can be seen at THIS LOCATION.

INSANITY ALERT comments: "Couldn't still your hunger for Thrash lately? Guess what! 'MOSHBURGER' will do! Our second and sold-out album will be re-issued via Season of Mist Records on December 9! And since every good meal needs an appetizer, we will pregame this party with the release of a new live video: Bang your head to one of Moshburger's finest: "Desinfektor" - performed at this year's Wacken Open Air!"

The new juicy moshburger is served in a crispy digipak, two crunchy vinyl editions, and various slices of merch designs on the side. It will be released on December 9 Pre-orders are now available HERE.

The world of INSANITY ALERT is a dark yet happy place. Fast, aggressive music, crazy lyrics about alcohol, rage, weed, ignorance and hate, all drenched in an 80’s hot sauce but played with a 2019 attitude. The band emerged from the Austrian city of Innsbruck in 2011, with only one intent: deliver crushing, crossover party thrash.

A tongue-in-cheek concept backed up by strong musical prowess worked out extremely well as ‘First Diagnosis’ proved in 2012. This demo was welcomed with open arms and the first impression of the public quickly confirmed by ‘Second Opinion’, which came out the year after. In 2014, debut album, ‘Insanity Alert’ delighted critics and fans alike and was reissued four years later by Season of Mist. The wild Tyrolians, always eager to please, next served a juicy ‘Moshburger’ (2016).

With ‘666-pack’ (2019) the band proves once more to be an unstoppable force. Whether it is dropping a to-the-point, crossover track such as “The Body Of The Christ is The Parasite” or INSANITY ALERT-esque interpretations of classics like “Saturday Grind Fever”, the groove will have you headbanging in no time with a smirk on your face. Having confirmed their first festivals for 2019 and riding the wave of the thrash metal revival, INSANITY ALERT can’t wait to return to the stage and share (a) 666-pack with you!

Deströyer 666 Shares New Single, "Andraste"

Deströyer 666
Unleashes New Song,
"Andraste"

PRE-ORDER

Black thrash outlaws DESTRÖYER 666 will be releasing its sixth studio album, 'Never Surrender,' on December 2 via Season of Mist! The band is now sharing a vicious new single, "Andraste," which can be heard at THIS LOCATION.

The band explains of the single, "An ode and an offering to the Gods and Goddesses of War."

'Never Surrender' can now be pre-ordered HERE.

DESTRÖYER 666 continue to do what they are best at: kicking ass and hammering out heavy metal that is slamming straight into the face. No compromise, no sell out, no bullshit!

DESTRÖYER 666 don’t do whiny nostalgia but simply stick to their old school roots, which are reaching straight down into the golden age of metal while allowing themselves to sound fresh and remain relevant. The band originally started out as a solo project of BESTIAL WARLUST guitarist KK in Australia in 1994. As early as with debut album ‘Unchain the Wolves’ (1997), fast-tracked towards international acclaim. The even stronger second full-length, ‘Phoenix Rising’ (2000) had the Australians relocating to Europe to be able to satisfy the soaring demand for touring and festival shows. After a round of line-up changes, third full length ‘Cold Steel… For an Iron Age’ (2002) cemented the band’s excellent reputation. After a hiatus caused among other issues by disenchantment with the business, DESTRÖYER 666 returned with ‘Defiance’ in 2009 and followed up on this success with the rough and gritty ‘Wildfire’ (2016) seven years later that saw them touring and performing at all the relevant metal festivals worldwide on a regular basis again. The Australians filled the gap between the latest albums with the hard-hitting EP, ‘Call of the Wild’ (2018) that comes with a distinct taste of an unrepentantly classic flavour.

The outlaws from down under deliver another pummelling and relentless lesson in aggression with full length number 6(66). ‘Never Surrender’ is a furious assault of black thrash, chainsaw riffs, and warlike drums, offering no moment of reprisal as it rages on for 40 unyielding minutes.

With this offering, DESTRÖYER 666 takes no prisoners!
