Rock needs reinvention. It only moves forward when a band pushes it to do so. Enter: GEARS. Finding a sweet spot between metal, R&B, hip-hop, and alternative, the Miami, FL group—Jimmy Wooten [drums] and Tripp Sixx [vocals]

—zigs and zags past all expectations and burns down one convention after another in the process. Racking up hundreds of thousands of streams and views, collaborating with everyone from members of Living Colour to Sevendust, and receiving plugs from Metal Insider and more, they usher in a new era of rock with a series of singles and their forthcoming independent debut album.

“There’s something for everyone,” observes Jimmy. “It’s heavy. It’s soulful. It’s melodic. The band’s versatility is our strength. We’ll bring R&B and hip-hop into rock, but we’re doing it in our own tight and cohesive way.”

GEARS initially began to grind back in 2014. New York native Tripp wound up in Florida and met fellow Northeast transplant, Jimmy. Bonding over shared influences such as Prince, Alice In Chains, Deftones, and more, they carefully carved out a singular style. After playing countless shows and dropping the Pride Comes Before the Fall EP in 2015, the band teamed up with Sevendust vocalist Lajon Witherspoon on “Tango Yankee.” Meanwhile, Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery contributed guitar to the latter as well as to the singles “Stronger Than Pain” and “King.” They also collaborated with the likes of Corey Lowery [Seether] and Troy McLawhorn [Evanescence] in addition to dueting with legendary Living Colour frontman Corey Glover on a cover of the classic “Cult of Personality.”

Along the way, they crossed paths with producer Chris Dawson [SAUL, Any Given Sin, Seasons After] and found the perfect production partner. Hitting the studio in 2020, they immediately uncovered undeniable creative chemistry.

“It just hit,” adds Trip. “It came together really quickly, and we clicked with Dawson on all fronts.”

With Dawson behind the board, they completed their 2021 single “Wasteland”. Airy electronics give way to head-nodding drums and chugging guitars on the track. Trip’s soulful cadence twists and turns through the beats before culminating in the catchy chorus, “Save me, locked in a cage, and I can’t get out.”

“It’s about being trapped in a mindset you don’t see any way out of,” the frontman states.

“It encompasses a lot of things,” Jimmy elaborates. “It’s easy to become trapped in continuous circles in life where you’re doing the same things over and over again. As a band, you have to reach outside of the box, work with someone new, try something different, and change the sound. Following the Pandemic, it’s like a rebirth for GEARS in a weird way, so we decided to push the envelope.”

Gears single “Wasteland” went on to achieve even greater heights as “Wasteland” hit the Top 20 Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator and Top 50 Mediabase Active Rock. They won’t stop pushing the envelope either. For as much as Gears urge rock to evolve, they elicit a classic reaction. “When you leave a concert, we want you to feel like it was worth it,” Tripp leaves off. “We want you to bop, jump, yell, scream, and do it all. We try to give listeners this gratification.” “We hit you with as many emotions as possible,” agrees Jimmy. “Maybe a song will affect you and connect on a deeper level—or you’ll be able to bounce to it simply. This is meant to spark a physical and emotional reaction.”

And Gears continues to take their listeners with them as their last single “Don’t Want To Say Goodbye” was placed on Octane TEST Drive and with the culmination was a successful shift forward. The way was clear and the opportunities boundlessly continued to develop as Gears on 8/5 released "Good Enough" and radio rotation was heavy. "Good Enough" was also in the Top 50 Mediabase and Top 20 Billboard Mainstream Rock Indicator.

Now finishing out 2022 Gears wanted to give their fans a wrap-up of appreciation for all their support and blaze into 2023 with "Lost Again". Touring is on the horizon along with more Gears music - so be ready!

After 4 top 50 Active Rock singles with Candlelight Red, Jeremy Edge launched The Jeremy Edge Project in 2020 Making a departure stylistically with more blues-based, guitar-based rock.

After extensive gigging in 2021 including dates with Lita Ford, Jackyl, Randy Hansen, Derek St Holmes and Gary Hoey, Edge and crew are back with their sophomore effort Saints and Souls, being released in two volumes. This record was more than a year in the making, recorded and mixed in different locations and is in the spirit of the classic rock and blues albums that first inspired Jeremy to play. The album contains artwork and lyrical imagery inspired by New Orleans and some of the stories and folklore surrounding it. It is named as a tip of the hat to the Haitian traditions of "All Saints Day" and "All Souls Day" as a means of celebrating life and those who have passed. There is a recurring theme of light and dark and a struggle to overcome adversity. Some are personal stories, some are about modern times, and some are based on fiction and folklore but all have this recurring theme.

The band is rounded out by John DeLowery on bass and Ray Gieda on drums with guest appearances by Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater, Black Country Communion) playing keys on "Move On" and "Hellride", with select tracks mixed by Kevin "Caveman" Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Joe Bonamassa, etc…). The band will be out on the road supporting this through 2023.

The first single: "Move On" hits streaming outlets on Dec 2nd, with the full album of volume dropping on Dec 23rd.

Setting off into a new era, metal greats DELAIN have recently returned with a new line up, impressively proving that they are stronger than any machine with their standalone single “The Quest and The Curse”. Fuelled by massive support and enthusiasm all around the globe, the multi-million streaming leading outfit now finally sets the stage for their eagerly awaited next studio album, entitled Dark Waters, out February 10, 2023 via Napalm Records.

Emerging as a brand new start and safe haven alike, Dark Waters, without any doubt, continues the legacy of the brainchild of keyboardist, founder and main songwriter Martijn Westerholt and contains everything DELAIN is loved for and more: A sonic rollercoaster ride of catchy tunes with explosive elements - ranging from pop to film score-inspired to blistering room shaking metal. 

The tracklist merges perfectly with the fantastic voice of new vocalist Diana Leah, showcasing her incredible talent and musical sophistication, which the brand new single “Beneath” manifests. The vocal department holds new adventures with guest singer Paolo Ribaldini, who also highlights the track as the ultimate hymn. Along with a stunning music video, “Beneath” takes the listener into a sinister underworld of the deep. Modern, synth melodies mixwith catchy classical passages and ominous riffs throughout the song.

Along with Martijn Westerholt, original guitarist Ronald Landa and original drummer Sander Zoer bolster DELAIN’S continuity, while new members - Diana Leah and bassist Ludovico Cioffi - continue to evolve their sound. Songs like the aforementioned standalone single, as well as “The Cold” (the latter featuring a real, epic choir), lure with a bombastic sound that skillfully combines orchestral melodies, epic heavy riffs and marvellous vocal performances. DELAIN magnificently manages to never lose touch with their characteristic sound, making them a constant without ever standing still. Pop-induced opening track “Hideaway Paradise” shows exactly that by inducing a dream-like feeling flirting with melodic metal guitars, while the ballad-like dark track “Mirror of Night”, featuring Within Temptationguitarist Ruud Jolie, entices the listener with unfathomably catchy lines and melodies. “Queen of Shadow” merges the orchestral and synth-focused soundscapes DELAIN is known for as it weaves melodic heavy guitars that intertwine with orchestral lines and vocal melodies. “Tainted Hearts” is centred around Westerholt's keyboard arrangements, which skillfully showcase the creative roots of the mastermind. “Invictus” is nothing less than the Magnum Opus of the album - a rock opera in its own right with heavy riffing, choirs and vocal parts performed by Diana Leah, Paolo Ribaldini and Marko Hietala (ex-Nightwish), ending in a bombastic climax where everything comes together.

Swansong just recently announced their signing to Noble Demon for the release of the band’s debut album. With full focus on their upcoming album, set for release in 2023, the band has now also announced a new drummer to replace Markus Tikkanen from now on. The band comments:

"Our original drummer Markus Tikkanen stepped aside from Swansong due to personal and schedule reasons. We wish him all the best. He has been an important part of our story and we are grateful to him. Respect! Luckily as our story grows we found Jimi, who is known from such ensembles as Sadistik Forest, Se, josta ei puhuta and Kaera. He is highly skilled, professional and known by many. Whiskey Myers' Macon, GA Concert to Broadcast Live on DIRTVision Sun, Dec. 11

Multi-Platinum band Whiskey Myers is set to bring a new experience to fans around the world with a live DIRTVision broadcast of their concert next Sunday, Dec. 11, from the Macon Centreplex in Macon, Ga.

As part of the chart-topping band’s 2022 Tornillo Tour and a preview of what’s to come on the Whiskey Myers 2023 Tour, the concert’s broadcast will start at 9 p.m. ET and is available to all fans by signing up for a free DIRTVision registration HERE. DIRTVision is the exclusive live streaming home of Whiskey Myers partner World of Outlaws and the only place to watch live racing action from the world’s premier dirt racing series and tracks.

Singer-Songwriter Jay Allen To Release New Single, "No Present Like the Time" This Friday, 12/2

Newly married Nashville singer-songwriter and Voice contestant Jay Allen is giving his fans a wedding gift. His new single, “No Present Like the Time,” will be released Friday, Dec. 2 via global marketing and distribution giant ONErpm.

“I wrote ‘No Present Like the Time’ with (friend and frequent collaborator) Nate Kenyon and Micah Wilshire right before I went on The Voice,” Allen explains, after an intense grieving period over losing his mother. “It was 2019, she was my world, and only 54 when Alzheimer’s devastated our family,” he adds. “What I experienced during those years was a sort of sadness and doubt that almost broke my spirit, but what I gained was an invaluable lesson—time is precious.”

For those who may need the reminder, Allen offers this final piece of advice: “If I could go back, I would answer every phone call, say ‘I love you’ every day, take a lot more pictures and just spend time with her.” Pausing, he adds, “I know my mother wouldn’t want me to live with regrets, so instead I believe she gave me this song to remind me how to live.”

Allen also recently performed on actress (and wife of country musician Brad Paisley) Kimberly Williams-Paisley’s fifth annual ALZ Dance Party benefit, which raised more than half a million dollars for the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.

Revolution Saints, the band centered around vocalist/drummer Deen Castronovo, have returned with a new line-up and a new single, "Eagle Flight". Castronovo is joined by new companions, bassist Jeff Pilson and guitarist Joel Hoekstra for Revolution Saints 2.0 and "Eagle Flight" is their brand new musical statement announcing their arrival.

Revolution Saints was initially put together by Serafino Perugino, President and Head of A&R for Frontiers Records, to showcase the stunning voice of Deen Castronovo(Journey, Bad English, Hardline). Castronovo has always been a well respected drummer, but fans who took note of his background vocals over his career and who attended Journey shows and saw him take lead vocals on "Mother, Father" during the band's set, came to realize he also had an amazing voice. Revolution Saints was, and always has been, a vehicle to show the world Deen's incredible singing talents.

For the first three Revolution Saints albums, 'Revolution Saints', 'Light In The Dark', and 'Rise', Deen was joined by bassist/vocalist Jack Blades (Night Ranger) and guitarist Doug Aldrich (The Dead Daisies, ex-Whitesnake, DIO). Produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio, those three albums brought back the classic melodic rock style that thrilled and delighted legions of fans in the ‘80s and ‘90s and still does today! Inspiring, uplifting vocals, soaring melodies, and hooks for days is what you get in spades across those three albums.

While Revolution Saints MK I left an indelible mark on the melodic rock world, it was time for MK II to be born. Deen, having recently re-joined Journey, was feeling invigorated and inspired and ready to sing his ass off. Filling Blades and Aldrich's shoes would be no easy feat, but, mercifully, the exact right guys were found for the job.

Joel Hoekstra is a current member of Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Iconic, as well as having his own solo project, Joel Hoekstra's 13 and is an absolutely stunning guitar player, able to play multiple styles. Jeff Pilson, currently a member of Foreigner, Black Swan, and The End Machine, is also known for his time in Dokken and his more recent production work. Two stellar musicians to compliment Deen's singing and drumming is exactly what was needed for Revolution Saints 2.0 and that's exactly what we've got here.

Atlanta, GA nu-deathcore outfit Left to Suffer has dropped their latest single and live music video, "Primitive Urge" featuring Joe Bad of Fit For An Autopsy (filmed by Nox Nohl). Prior to today, the band released "Snake" which was co-written with Three Days Grace's Neil Sanderson and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson. Speaking on "Primitive Urge", Left to Suffer commented:

Art pop band Elk City presents new timidly confessional single 'Apology Song', a Suzanne Vega-esque offering from their new album 'Above the Water', following up earlier singles 'That Someone', which explores the dual nature of self and other, excitement and dismay, and the more laid-back and philosophical 'Your Time Doesn't Exist'.

Revolving around its founders, artist/ vocalist Renée LoBue and producer/drummer Ray Ketchem, the band is rounded out by guitarist Sean Eden (Luna), bass guitarist Richard Baluyut (Versus) and Chris Robertson of Punch Havana and Psychedelic Furs side-project Feed. Since their formation in 1999, Elk City has released five albums, three EPs and numerous singles. Pursuing a glimmering rock thread, Elk City makes potent atmospheric pop with psychedelic undertones and overtones.

A new chapter in the Montclair, New Jersey band’s evolutionary story, this album is vibrant, raw-edged and bold, showcasing a new guitar-rich lineup. Released via the newly-launched Magic Door Record Label, founded by Guided by Voices drummer Kevin March with Ketchem and LoBue with a simple mission to release music created by the rich community of artists who surround them, this album reveals the band’s North Jersey roots and lineage with The Feelies, Yo La Tengo (with whom they share a former label, Bar/None) and Luna (with whom they share a guitarist).

“Apology Song” is probably Elk City’s most well-crafted song to date. Straight up songwriting craftsmanship. I came up with the chorus late in the game. The band wanted something more, something additional to sink their musical teeth into. They asked me to come up with an add-on to the parts that were already there. That’s when I came up with the part that says, “I'm sorry. I did it. I got all caught up in my head. I'm sorry, you know it. My head got caught up in that thing”, I've never written a lyric so simplistic, yet meaningful. Both off-the-cuff and relatable AF,” says Renée LoBue.

"I've had this concept and have wanted to direct this video for a while now. I describe the video as "A sensual comedy packed with nutrition". As 'Apology Song' is heavy on drama, we knew we needed to go lighter/comedic with a video for the song. It's the visual wack-a-doo companion that balances the song's "heart on sleeve" message. Eat your fruits and vegetables, kids!"

‘Above the Water’ was recorded, mixed and mastered at Ketchem’s Magic Door Recording, opened in 2017 as an acoustically lush refuge for musical expression and experimentation. Ketchem, whose production credits include Guided By Voices, Luna and Gramercy Arms, partnered with legendary studio designer George Augspurger to transform a cavernous warehouse into a freeform studio where vintage microphones, modern studio gear, and bespoke sound tuning elevate and inspire.

The 'Above The Water' LP is out now, available across fine digital outlets, including Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify, as well as Bandcamp. The band will be playing their album release show in Boston (Jamaica Plain) at The Midway(together with Sleepyhead).

EXPLORING BIRDSONG, Return With New Single "Ever The Optimist"

Acclaimed young alt-pop/prog trio Exploring Birdsong return with their new single & video "Ever The Optimist". This is their first new music in three years since 2019's stunning 'The Thing With Feathers' EP.

The band comments: 

"This song certainly has the most interesting back story to any of the tracks we’ve written. When in university back in 2018, Lyns and Matt were given the opportunity to have a one on one songwriting session with Sir Paul McCartney. This is the song they took into the session and worked on with Sir Paul himself. It’s by far the poppiest song on the record and was the catalyst for centring our songs around synths as well as sole piano parts."

Following the release of their debut EP 'The Thing With Feathers' (2019, Long Branch Records), the band finally return with their incredible new single "Ever The Optimist".

"Ever the Optimist", was originally penned when the band studied at LIPA, Sir Paul McCartney’s prestigious performing arts institution in Liverpool. The band’s songwriting talents earned them a one to one songwriting session with Sir Paul, with whom they crafted the skeleton of the single.

Described by the band as "a complete melting pot of all the influences that makes us sound like us", the single sees Exploring Birdsong steer closer to their pop influences than ever before, with one of the best choruses you'll hear this year.

The young group most recently made their European debut at Euroblast festival (Cologne, DE) - their first live performance since their five city inaugural headline tour across the UK in September 2021, including London, Manchester and Birmingham, and following successful support tours with the likes of Sleep Token and Thank You Scientist.

Whilst Exploring Birdsong refuse to be pigeon-holed to one genre, they evoke moments of Agent Fresco, Kate Bush, Everything Everything, Sleep Token and Karnivool.

Black Paisley Release New Album 'Human Nature'

Today on Black Friday, Black Paisley release their new album 'Human Nature', which includes 12 well-crafted songs in true Paisley spirit.

'Human Nature' is the fourth album since 2017 from the veteran swedes in Black Paisleyand is their best to date! A lot of effort has been put in to making a classic rock album to remember. Partly a cooperation with legendary Mike Fraser in Vancouver with the aim to reinvent some of the classic rock sounds from the peak of the era, combined with modern production and innovative song writing.

The band managed to sign and meet up with icon Mike Fraser at Armoury Studios in Vancouver (mixing - 5 AC/DC albums, The Cult, Aerosmith, Metallica) and Ryan Smith, at Sterling Sound in Nashville, handled the mastering (AC/DC, Adele, Ozzy & Greta Van Fleet), to help them out with "Set Me On Fire" and 'Human Nature'.

This was of course a great experience for the band, but also a humbling realization of already having a great team in place back in Stockholm.

The band name Black Paisley comes from Bon Jovi’s Ritchie Sambora’s classic Fender signature guitar from 1996. With the name you get an embedded connection to melodic rock with catchy melodies which is the best way to describe Black Paisley’s music.

Since the start 2015, Black Paisley from Stockholm, Sweden have reached almost 10 million spins on global streaming services, although still an independent act. Seen by many as one of the big inheritors of Classic Rock in the line of bands like Whitesnake, Scorpions and Y&T.

Their Most Uncompromising Album to Date!

Finnegan's Hell used the shutdown during the pandemic to write new songs and produced an impressive collection. The strongest ones ended up on the record 'One Finger Salute'.

The title track was released as a single a couple of weeks ago and was very well-received. The Irish Times wrote: "A magnificent attitude marker with an infectious chorus sure to evoke a sea of middle fingers in the audience".

The video for the song suggests that this is a correct assumption, watch it below.

Finnegan's Hell has been called "the Swedish Pogues" by the music press, and it is easy to see why. These Swedes have a solid grasp of the Celtic punk idiom and are able to use stomping folk melodies and traditional instrumentation to reveal, and revel in, the gnarlier side of life.

Finnegan's Hell is gaining quite a reputation on the European folk rock scene, due to the band's extraordinary live shows. American heavyweights Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly might very well be in for some Swedish competition in the future.
