HOST Release Video For Second Single "Hiding From Tomorrow"

Dark wave duo HOST (Greg Mackintosh and Nick Holmes) have released a new video for 'Hiding From Tomorrow', the second single from their upcoming debut album IX. This new offering is a brooding cut of stark goth rock, akin to the works of Siouxise and the Banshees and The Sisters of Mercy.

Vocalist Nick Holmes comments "'Hiding From Tomorrow’ was one of the first songs we wrote for the Host project and although the title would suggest otherwise, it was written a few years prior to the pandemic. With that in mind, I was thinking about the things that keep you awake at night, and although life is something that should never be taken for granted, uncertainty is a big part of it, and none of us know what’s around the corner."

About HOST

The origins of HOST do not trace back to the 1999 PARADISE LOST album bearing the same name but instead to the West Yorkshire music clubs of the mid-to-late 1980s. WhileHolmes and Mackintosh were already certified heavy metal fanatics (“metal thrashing mad” as Holmes equates), they were equally drawn to the New Wave and Goth music scenes. The pounding rhythms, sublime melodies and undercurrent of darkness drew them in, creating immediate earworms and a desire to delve further.

Mackintosh finally put plans into motion during the pandemic for a venture that would merge his penchant for sound design with the moods and atmosphere of 1980s dance-pop and Goth. The project was originally a solo pursuit until he asked Holmes, his longtime PARADISE LOST songwriting partner, to join. 'HOST' was selected as the name as a tip of the hat to the aforementioned album that found PARADISE LOST in an unprecedented period of experimentation that eschewed their metal roots and also challenged their fanbase in ways like never before.

“We always stood by 'Host' as an album,” says Mackintosh. “This project is not totally connected to that album, but some of the ideas are extrapolated. We’re taking the basic premise and trying it out now. And, really, it was something fun and interesting for us to do. We’ve been doing PARADISE LOST for a long time and got an itch to try something different from where PL is now. I could take PL down this route again. Who knows? It may happen if we live long enough, but I thought, ‘Why not now?’ I had the time to do it.”

The Riven Launch Second Studio Album, 'Peace and Conflict'

Stream the Album HERE

Classic rock meets heavy metal on 'Peace and Conflict', the second studio album by Swedish five piece The Riven.

Since the release of their debut, self-titled album from 2019, the group has recruited a second guitarist, enabling more dynamic twin guitar arrangements and colorful melodic elements enriching the new tracks. This, combined with a powerful vocal performance and a tightly pounding rhythm section, results in a full-blown rock explosion divided into 9 new tracks.

With a growing number of gigs, tours and festival appearances on their resume, 'Peace and Conflict' shows an ever evolving The Riven, still with a sound firmly rooted in NWOBHM- powered hard rock. Lyrically tackling subjects such as life, death, freedom, love, and hate while moving between fast paced heavy metal numbers to laid back acoustic cuts, 'Peace and Conflict' offers a varied and vibrant rock experience.

“'Peace & Conflict' is full of catchy rock tunes and psychedelic vibes. It’s only half as long as a Stranger Things episode, so make sure you give it a spin and find out who dies at the end.” - The Riven

'Peace and Conflict' was recorded at La Cavana Studios by Arnau Díaz.

The album was mixed and mastered by Ola Ersfjord.

Artwork made by Maarten Donders.

'Peace and Conflict' is released on The Sign Records and is available in: purple vinyl, orange vinyl, black vinyl, CD (digipack) and on all streaming platforms.

Biography:

Hard hitting, sharp shooting power rock influenced by the great sounds of the 1970s and 80s. The Riven plays honest Rock & Roll that makes you wanna shake your fist and bang your head. Their music and lyrics will take you on a sonic journey.

The Riven is an electrifying powerhouse, Classic Rock for the 21st Century"

The Riven are currently in the line of releasing their second full length studio album 'Peace and Conflict'. The album consists of eight hard hitting tracks that will be available on Vinyl, CD and digital platforms. New on this album, is the guitarist Joakim Sandegård who together with Arnau Diaz create a twin guitar sound, new to The Riven. Also on this album is Jussi Kalla behind the drums who made his debut with the band with the 12inch "Windbreaker / Movin On" released in May of 2020

“Make no mistake this band is going to blow up in stratospheric proportions” -The Sludgelord

The Riven recorded their nine track, self-titled debut album in Madrid, Spain with Producer Ola Ersfjord (Lucifer, Tribulation, Dead Lord) at Holy Cuervo Studios. It was later released on the first of March 2019 on The Sign Records with a worldwide distribution.

Glowingly performed and with a clear direction towards future great deeds. You cant ask for more from this fully-fledged debut album” - Sweden Rock Magazine.

The self-titled album 'The Riven' received great reviews and in the autumn of 2019 the album got a South American release through the Brazilian label Hellion Records. The first album developed the band’s sound from their EP 'Blackbird' and gave space to a more progressive and psychedelic side.

In 2019, The Riven embarked on extensive tours, taking them all over Europe in three separate head-line tours around France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and Sweden, playing festivals like Muskelrock, Hellgart, Live at Heart and Skövde in Rock.

In the summer of 2021, The Riven went to a cottage in the south of Sweden, recording their second full-length album. The anticipated sophomore album balances perfectly straight, sharpshooting heavy rock with big choruses with psychedelic moments. 'Peace and Conflict' offers twin guitars, roaring vocals and a locked-in rhythm section waiting to take you away.

Now this is Classic Rock for our time” - Doomed & Stoned

Today, the band consists of singer Totta Ekebergh, guitarists Arnau Diaz and Joakim Sandegård, bass player Max Ternebring and drummer Jussi Kalla. The Riven was formed in 2016 when they were living in West London, where they also recorded their EP ‘Blackbird’ at Buffalo Studios.

The five tracks on 'Blackbird' are short, snappy, and more catchy than airborne Ebola”. - AMG

Die Oberherren Release Single & Video for "The Blood or the Wine"

What on earth has happened to gothic rock? This was the thought burning in Joakim Knutsson’s mind, and he felt that something needed to be done to save the much-loved genre from going down the drain. He embarked on this mission with the aim to create something special but also something faithful to the original ideals of the 80’s gothic genre.

“I wanted a band that would be an occult mix of The Lords Of The New Church, Adam and the Ants, John Carpenter and Billy Idol”, says Knutsson, “The end result turned out heavier, bloodier and darker than that, but that was probably our destiny anyway.”

With a little help from prominent members of the Swedish metal and punk community the idea recently took a solid form. Today the band together sums more than 250 years of knowledge in music and pop culture - knowledge they shamelessly put to use in their own creation.

Here they are: die Oberherren. The Gothic rock band the world has been waiting for since the golden age of the 80s. Kept strictly under wraps until now, die Oberherrenfeature members of rock and metal royalty in Sweden, with past or current membership in bands such as The Coffinshakers, Ghost, The Mobile Mob Freakshow, Gehennah and many more.

Watch "The Blood and the Wine"

The band's comments on the video:

"This video somewhat takes over where "The Horned One Stabs" ends. It is also in the vein of 70s and 80s horror movies. This one also points to the so called Highgate Vampire debacle."

About the song:

"When we demoed the song someone pointed out that the main riff sounded alot like a 'bad 80s Alice Cooper', which by today's standards of course, is awesome. A catchy rocker with sing along chorus and stupid nonsense lyrics? The way it should be."

The band snatched their ominous-sounding moniker from the intellectual group that operated at the turn of the 20th century, by whom their lyrics are also heavily influenced.

About die Oberherren, Knutsson comments: “Anarchistic, occult and apocalyptic imagery with prophets of war, armageddon, decadence and love – these themes and ideas are even more actual today than the original ‘overlords’ could ever dream of over a hundred years ago."

The debut album 'Die By My Hand', set for release on January 27, 2023 on Svart Records, is a collection of eight songs that are adorned with infectious hooks and laced with vintage darkness.

OCEANHOARSE Unleash Video for New Single "Pryopen"!

Today, Finnish heavy metallers Oceanhoarse have unleashed their brand new single "Pryopen"onto the world! A heavy pounding anthem but also a track with a serious and strong message, as singer Joonas Kosonen explains: "'Pryopen' is musically fast and captivating, perhaps stylistically even in the direction of more modern American metal. However, the song's lyrics are about the struggle with addiction. The subject touches many of us either directly or indirectly and we wanted to offer strength to those who are fighting, as well as to those who have already lost a loved one to addiction. We wanted to keep the lyrics of the verses raw and straightforward, depicting internal battles in one's own head just when the will is about to break. The purpose of the chorus is to light a small spark of hope for those who struggle in their everyday life: 'Won't bend this time, cause now I'm taking back what's mine!'"

The single comes with a brand new music video, that you can watch below.

Bass player Jyri Helko about the music video:
"The video shoot was something extraordinary. We wanted to have a scene where Joonas is about to drown in the middle of the empty sea during night time, but obviously shooting a scene like that during the freezing winter in Finland is impossible. Therefore, we had to get creative and we spent a whole day decorating a small indoor pool in our friend’s house to make it look like the real deal – I think we did a pretty damn good job with it."

"Pryopen" is taken from the band's upcoming sophomore studio album titled Heads Will Roll, which will be released on February 17 via Noble Demon. The album is available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

The wait is over, the Dead Again reissue is now out! Watch the music video for "The Profit Of Doom" below.

TYPE O NEGATIVE's Kenny Hickey comments, "The first casualty of this album was the record company - which promptly went under after its release. As the black cloud continued its relentless path over Type O, Dead Again appeared and disappeared from the streaming platforms for years. Now that the storm has passed we have some slight hope of establishing a small illusion of permanence with this final release of Dead Again. SOEN To Reissue First Two Albums, 'Cognitive' & 'Tellurian', via Silver Lining Music on January 27, 2023

SOEN, the dynamic, mercurial, and titanic Swedish progressive metal supergroup, have decided to re-release their first two albums, Cognitive and Tellurian, via Silver Lining Music on January 27, 2023 - reviving these benchmark steps in the band’s progression. The re-issues are available to pre-order now via D2C at Soen.Shop, whilst traditional retail pre-orders are at this location.

These are the official Soen-endorsed releases; bringing their entire catalog to one label for the first time!

Reinterpreted as a live orchestral composition, the melodically haunting "Savia" from the debut LP Cognitive also appears in Soen’s most recent release ATLANTIS, the special concert film featuring the group’s most popular compositions. Watch/Listen to the recently released "Savia" below.

Cognitive will enjoy a first-ever vinyl release, which will include the bonus track “Written”, as well as full lyrics. Tellurian, currently out of print, will also be reissued on vinyl.

Cognitive saw drummer Martin Lopez (Opeth, Amon Amarth), vocalist Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree), bassist Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus, Testament), and guitarist Kim Platbarzdis create what Lopez described as “melodic, heavy and intricate” songs which illustrated the scope, range and power potential Soen held. They would further develop those sensibilities and expand upon those dimensions with Tellurian, which saw Stefan Stenberg coming in on bass, and the deeper, richer melodies alongside personal performances which pushed the limits of excellence, have seen the initially-limited release album establish itself as a core album for Soen and their fans. Both albums were produced by the Grammy Award-winning Dave Bottrill, who has worked with Peter Gabriel, Tool, Smashing Pumpkins, and Muse.

Always provocative, engaging, and ultimately a deeply entertaining experience, having these two rich and vital pieces of Soen’s story released under Silver Lining Music represents a moment of principal importance to the band. Every recorded chapter of their career thus far is finally in one officially endorsed home, with future chapters to come on Silver Lining Music.

BIZARREKULT Reveals Music Video for New Song, "Du Lovet Meg"

Solo black metal project BIZARREKULT is now sharing a brand new single, "Du Lovet Meg," along with a thought-provoking music video! The track is taken from the project's upcoming sophomore full-length, 'Den Tapte Krigen,' which will be released via Season of Mist on January 27, 2023, making it BIZARREKULT's debut to the label! The song and video, which was directed by Guilherme Henriques, can be found at THIS LOCATION.

BIZARREKULT mastermind Roman V. comments: "I am happy to reveal the opening track from the new album. 'Du lovet meg' (You promised me) is a song about the mismatch of our expectations and actions, promises that never get implemented, forgiveness and eternal love. A soundtrack for anyone who has ever been in relationship with another person. Embrace the emotions, don't hide your feelings from yourself."

'Den Tapte Krigen' can be pre-ordered HERE and the album can be pre-saved on all digital streaming services HERE

Since the genre’s inception, black metal has been ruled by lone wolves. Individuals who blur the lines between “masterminds” and “madmen,” creating in solitude and willful confinement. From first and second wave purveyors such as BATHORY and BURZUM to this century’s revivalists like SAOR and PANOPTICON, these anomic souls have made incomparable contributions to the dark arts. And in 2022, BIZARREKULT paves a new yet familiar path, establishing itself as one of the cult visionaries of this decade.

Before finding his way to music, multi-instrumentalist Roman V was first a poet. Since childhood, Roman found an outlet in writing and by 2006, he created BIZARREKULT as an auditory accompaniment to his verbal expressions. “BIZARREKULT since the beginning was a quest of identity and philosophical search for answers on the questions that bother the mind at night and day,” explains Roman.

Despite the project’s inception 16 years ago, BIZARREKULT’s music did not make its debut until the release of ‘Vi Overlevde’ in 2021. As he started feeling challenged by the declining state of the world, Roman pursued a new path and decided to go straight to the environment that incubated and birthed the genre that he loves. As he relocated from Siberia to his current home of Norway, his new surroundings had its intended purpose and greatly impacted his musical journey. “After some initial recordings the project was set aside in order to deal with increasing mass challenges from the surrounding world. And then it ended up getting a spark a decade later in a different environment, nature, language and culture. So distant, but so close. Norway has become my second home and the last few years that led to revitalization of BIZARREKULT were spent on reflecting on myself, meaning, purpose and reuniting with the things that were important – art and creativity.”

Meaning “We Survived,” ‘Vi Overlevde’ was a very intimate, vulnerable, and personal offering. Roman describes the record as “a testament to survival through personal crisis” and notes that it is “filled with reflections on childhood, family and societal relations.” The musician took care to ensure that the record delivered a comprehensive package, aligning the music, artwork, and lyrics with exact precision.

As the world was collectively reckoning with the turmoil of year two of a global pandemic, the album’s message gave many hope. Fans started to emerge, reacting to the record with their own artistic interpretations as a way to pay tribute. The album also won the hearts of the media, appearing on a handful of “album of the year” lists, including scoring a third place position from Sweden’s biggest newspaper, Aftonbladet.

Now, BIZARREKULT is ready to enter a new chapter, forging a new union with Season of Mist and completing the work on its sophomore full-length, ‘Den Tapte Krigen.’ Meaning “The Lost War,” ‘Den Tapte Krigen’ thematically picks up the thread from where ‘Vi Overlevde" left off, but sees a musical evolution as BIZARREKULT continues to find and establish its identity. “The main message of ‘Den Tapte Krigen’ is about a constant war inside our lives, war with ourselves, our closest ones, our societies,” says Roman. “It’s a war in which we can lose everything, including our personality, faith, honour and dignity. However, similar to ‘Vi Overlevde’ that ends on a rather positive note, ‘Den Tapte Krigen’ contains a message of hope and reconnection, of necessity to make a peace with yourself, accept what you are, your identity, and share forgiveness and love. This is the only way out of the vicious circle.”

We've been working on this project for a long time now and we wanted to make sure we really captured the essence of what Thousand Below is to us while keeping in mind what our fans wanted to hear. Our end goal was to create a record that had the perfect mix of album 1 and album 2 in hopes of getting the best of both worlds of our band's sound, while still telling an emotional story along the way.

We wrote & recorded HFYE in the thick of the pandemic and the subject matter reflects that. Everyone went through their own personal battle with depression & maintaining one's mental health in the last few years. Every problem, every pain, every sad moment in life was exponentially harder to deal with given the setting of the world, and we wanted to make an album that perfectly resonated with those themes. Loss in an isolated setting, substance abuse in times with little hope, and loneliness compounding on itself in the darkest of times were all subjects we felt were important to make music about.

We hope everyone enjoys "Sabotage" and we're excited to hit the road this November."

Prior to today, the band released their music video for "Face To Face" and announced their signing with Pale Chord Music. Pre-save 'Hell Finds You Everywhere' here, watch the music video for "Sabotage" below, and stream the track here.

Thousand Below are currently on the road on the completely sold-out North American leg of A Tour Of The Concrete Jungle with Bad Omens, Dayseeker, and Make Them Suffer. Be sure to stay tuned for more Thousand Below news coming soon.

Thousand Below’s vulnerable, ambient, yet ultimately hopeful self-examination of loss, life and healing is an enduring theme resonating in the band’s signature sound. The range within their genre is an homage to the band’s intimate experience through the stages of grief. The American quartet-- James DeBerg [vocals], Josh Thomas [guitar], Josh Billimoria [Bass], and Max Santoro [drums]-- descend into the visceral anger and raw anguish echoing throughout their lyrically-jarring debut album The Love You Let Too Close (Rise Records), followed by the somber instrumentation of an ultimately quieter emotional discourse in their sophomore album Gone In Your Wake (Rise Records).

NAUT Reveals New Album Details, Shares Music Video for First Single

Emerging U.K. post punk outfit NAUT will be releasing a brand new full length, 'Hunt,' on February 24, 2022 via Season of Mist, making it the band's debut to the label! The album details, tracklist, and artwork can be found below! The band is now sharing the first single, "Unity of Opposites," which features special guest Chris 'Stig' Miller (AMEBIX) who handles the spoken word verses! The song and video can be found together at THIS LOCATION!

NAUT comments, "At last! It has been a long time coming, but finally we can reveal the first single from our debut album. We feel that 'Unity of Opposites' best sums up our sound and the approach we have taken with 'Hunt': dancefloor hits mixed with our blend of knife-edge rock and post-punk. It was inspired by the writings of Heraclitus and how this still relates to our current world as a seemingly universal truth, the pendulum swings back and forth, to the same place but it’s never the same motion. To top it off, Chris 'Stig' Miller from legendary UK band Amebix lends his talents to a short spoken word section in the song, and it was wonderful to have him do so."

Pre-orders for 'Hunt' are now live HERE and the album can be pre-saved on streaming services HERE.

NAUT are a four piece drum machine rock band from Bristol, whose shared love of classic rock and metal, alongside reverence for the post-punk pioneers of the late 70s and early 80s makes itself known from the start. Triumphant synths and scything guitars entwine with danceable beats, while driving bass-lines, moving to pounding drums, create a dynamic and shifting rhythm section. The tracks pulse with a raw post-punk energy but always remain danceable and (perhaps most dangerously) catchy. The lyrics touch on mental paralysis, impending doom and divided peoples, and with the path our world is currently on they have become more relevant than ever.

Starting out as an evening sharing riffs in a flat in Bristol, the first tracks for NAUT had their genesis in 2016. Those first riffs, written by Gavin (vocals) & Jack (guitars) grew to become something much more compelling and after that initial moment, the idea of a band was born. Gathering musicians from Bristol’s small but active post-punk scene and armed with rough recordings, NAUTstarted working on the tracks as a full band in June 2017.

It all rapidly fell into place. NAUT's first show was in September 2017 followed by two shows supporting Grave Pleasures before the year was out, and they entered the studio the following November. Raise the Lights - their debut EP was recorded at RS Studios in Bristol by Jamie Elton (Moss, Amulet, Spite) and was mastered by Orgone Studios (Ulver, Grave Pleasures, Ghost). The final mastered tracks were ready in March 2018 and plans were put in motion for a June release of a debut EP that made people take notice. The intention was to break out into the world and NAUT did just that, with coverage in Kerrang! Magazine as well as a host of smaller blogs, publications and radio.

2018 saw more live shows with Abysmal Grief and David Eugene Edwards & Alexander Hacke as well as a sell out show in Bristol, and the start of some new material.

Not content to sit still, NAUT were soon ready to enter the studio again with new tracks written at the end of 2018, initially planned as a double A single, but growing into a 3 track EP. The song writing was rooted firmly in the foundations laid by Raise the Lights, but also broke new ground. With a solo in the title track Semele provided by Henrik Palm (Henrik Palm, ex-In Solitude, ex-Ghost) and the same winning combination of recording with Jamie Elton and Orgone Studios taking care of mastering duties the tracks were finished by April 2019.

The 'Semele' EP was released in November 2019 and was well-received. Featured in multiple high profile websites such as Louder, Vive le Rock, Distorted Sound and more, the EP helped establish NAUT on the scene as a band to watch.

Alongside this, NAUT played several more shows, including supporting post-punk legends Pink Turns Blue and playing the warmup show for Incineration Festival in London alongside Idle Hands.

'Threads' and 'Hand in Hand' were recorded in late 2019, building on the spirit of experimentation in the 'Semele' EP whilst calling on elements from Raise the Lights, creating a tantalising mix of the two. The songs were once again recorded by Jamie Elton with mastering handled by Orgone Studios.

During this time NAUT remained an active presence in the UK live scene, sharing the stage with bands as diverse as their fan base, from Discharge to Orange Goblin.

The end of 2019 also saw a change in NAUT’s format, with the departure of their drummer. NAUT had started life as a drum machine project before the addition of Kenny Selway for the debut EP, and after a string of changes, the obvious choice was to return to that format. This opened up new avenues for musical exploration, on and off stage.

With the spectre of a global pandemic looming large, in March 2020 NAUTplayed their last live appearance of that year in a sold out St Pancras Church in London with King Dude.

With that the world of live music went silent.

However NAUT remained active below the surface, 'Threads' and 'Hand in Hand' were released as a double A side 7” in June 2020. With this release NAUT further gained the attention of fans from across the spectrum of dark music. Word spread further around the scene adding fans to the ever growing following, with Hand in Hand featured in Kerrang! Magazine’s Kerrang! Rock Chart and a number of other high profile goth and post-punk playlists and the music video, creatively produced under the restrictions of a strict lockdown, garnering a strong reception.

Not content with releasing these new songs, work on a debut album was also underway. Over the long months of restrictions and lockdowns NAUT crafted the demos for their debut album, making the most of the dormant state of the music world, something special was being fashioned. The turmoil of 2020 also opened other opportunities and NAUT struck a partnership with Doomstar booking agency, ready for whenever the venues open.

Now NAUT are excited to have signed with Seasons of Mist for the release of their debut album. The label has come to represent all shades of musical darkness and feels like a strong pairing for NAUT, as although the band are less extreme in their musical approach, dark music in all its facets underlies all that they do.

NAUT can't wait to share this upcoming slab of infectious and pulsing drum machine rock with you all.

From young Woody Allen to now: ROB MUNK releases 'Phased Out' LP after 20 years after leaving rock music for acting

"Sassy power-pop... the same blend of jaunt and joyfulness and slightly downbeat and world-weariness running through their music as, say, The Lemonheads or The Dandy Warhols. Not to mention no small amount of early R.E.M. wonky majesty" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Enjoyable, danceable, moshable – timeless in the same way as Pixies and Throwing Muses will never seem old. But Munk’s music itself is perhaps closer to Sebadoh, Sparklehorse, The Shins, Fastball, Weezer or Presidents of the USA" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Munk’s an idealistic singer/songwriter with great guitar and vocal chops, not to mention stellar songwriting skills" ~ Popular Culture Beat

American indie rocker Rob Munk presents his new 'Phased Out' album, 20 years after initially leaving the music scene. Alas, music takes on its own life, pushing Rob back into its realm with better and more personal songs than ever before. During the pandemic, he recorded this album with his good friend, actor-writer-artist Daniel London (Old Joy, Minority Report, Manhattan) and Tinsel drummer and writer-director Joe Ventura.

Released via Montclair, NJ-based Magic Door Label, a grassroots imprint founded by Guided by Voices' Kevin March, producer Ray Ketchem and artist-vocalist Renée LoBue, this ambitious 2-track collection is, according to Munk, "a little poppy, a little sloppy and entirely honest".

"Phased Out was such a joy to make. No oversight but my own standards, nothing at stake but my integrity. Years after wanting a career in music, I made music to supplement my career. I worked with masterful collaborators who understood my vision and worked hard to make it happen. I feel lucky for the opportunity, and proud to make a record as good as I could make," says Rob Munk.

Mixed by Oakland composer-producer Chuck Johnson at Cirrus Oxide, this album was produced, recorded, mastered and partially mixed at Magic Door Recordingby Ray Ketchem, whose production credits include Guided By Voices, Gramercy Arms, Luna and Elk City.

In the lead-up to this album, Munk released the upbeat environmentally-conscious lead track 'Amazon' and earlier singles 'Heavy Shoes (to kill the blues)' and 'Ghosts of San Francisco'. The latest single 'Youth' is a sonic love letter to misspent youth, a misty-eyed celebration of juvenile delinquency and bad decisions made in that magical time before consequences, regret and civic responsibility took their rightful place as guiding principles.

'Phased Out' is a record that somehow comes out of nowhere from an artist that has been almost everywhere. This is modern rock that respects people's emotional intelligence. With elements of 1990’s and 2000's indie rock and traces of 1970’s AM pop, this is music that respects people's emotional intelligence.

For Rob Munk, music was never the plan. An actor from the age of three, he and his brothers would commute into NYC from New Jersey for gigs to help support life with a single Mom. After several years of filming commercials (including Jello pudding with Bill Cosby), Rob was cast as young Woody Allen in 'Stardust Memories', his brother having played the same role in the Oscar-winning 'Annie Hall'. He left acting at 14, enrolled in boarding school and formed a band, soon learning that music felt more natural and was far more fun than acting. He was hooked.

Upon moving to Boston, Rob’s new band Thudpucker became a staple on the Boston rock scene in the early 90’s as many local bands were starting to explode. Between several singles, local gigs and touring, they opened for everyone from Pavement and Hole to the Afghan Whigs and Juliana Hatfield. After relocating to Chapel Hill, NC, Rob formed the indie rock band Tinsel, having opened for Polvo, Guided By Voices, Pipe and Come, while also playing in cover bands with members of Firehose and Superchunk. After some touring and a few singles, they put out two records before imploding of natural rock and roll causes.

After stints in a few more NYC bands, Munk was once again doing commercials and TV shows, including scenes with Tina Fey, Tony Hale, John Goodman and Paul Giammatti. After moving to LA for a pilot season but getting no traction there, Rob launched the now-defunct blog 'LoserActor', creatively chronicling his daily humiliation. With his writing brought to the attention of the creative directors at famed ad agency Wieden + Kennedy, Rob returned to New York - only this time as a copywriter and creative director, writing huge campaigns for ESPN, Delta Airlines and AT&T.

The 'Phased Out' LP is out now, available everywhere digitally, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where it can be ordered directly from the artist.

BLACK LAVA Streams New Album 'Soul Furnace' in Full

Emerging blackened death metal quartet BLACK LAVA (ft. members of VIPASSI, ex-NE OBLIVISCARIS, AMDBL, HADAL MAW, etc.) will release its debut full-length, 'Soul Furnace,' this Friday, November 25, 2022 via Season of Mist! The band is now streaming the album in its entirety ahead of its release!

Pre-orders for 'Soul Furnace' are now live HERE and can be saved on all digital streaming services HERE.

During the turbulent and uncertain years of 2020-2021, perhaps none were plunged deeper into darkness than those from down under as Australia imposed some of the strictest, harshest, and most devastating lockdown measures in the world, forcing their civilians into years of isolation. However, through solitude and desolation, some of the greatest art is created, as is the case with BLACK LAVA, the emerging blackened death metal quartet from Melbourne (AU). Founded by drummer Dan Presland (Vipassi, AMDBL, ex-Ne Obliviscaris) and guitarist Ben Boyle (Vipassi, AMDBL, Hadal Maw), BLACK LAVA draws influence from old school death and black metal bands while injecting groove-laden melodies and progressive elements to create their own experimental sound.

“The idea came about from just pure frustration of the situation at hand during 2020/2021,” explains Presland of the band’s formation. “Ben and I live locally together, and in the beginning of the pandemic, I built a working studio, so we got together to just initially jam to release some frustrations and vent some music around the second half of 2021. We had a pretty casual jam together and Ben came back with a few fleshed out ideas a few days later.” As the ideas started to come to fruition, the duo quickly realized that the project had more potential than just a jam session. “Both of us were really into the direction Ben pushed,” continues Presland, “and it was something pretty new to both of us - we have worked together quite extensively over the years within music, playing in several bands together (Vipassi, AMDBL, Aphotic Dawn and more) - so to go in a totally new direction was pretty refreshing.”

As the pair fleshed out more ideas, they turned to their good friend Rob Watkins of Blackhelm to fulfill vocal duties. “Within 10 minutes we had found a vocalist and the search for a bassist was on. Tim Anderson (Blackhelm) was found pretty quickly and was keen to jump on board the idea also, so within a very short time frame we had a full lineup, a record ready to go, and 4 guys full of enthusiasm to push something new.”

Sharing a diverse love for black metal, death metal, and progressive music, the quartet quickly found their sound and hit a stride. And thus, Soul Furnace was born - a searing 34-minute aural assault that conjures up nostalgia while still sounding fresh and current. While the record promises to usher in a new musical era of the 2020s with its forward-thinking and contemporary energy, the lyrics dwell somewhere between fantasy and the old world.

“In the world of Black Lava, the lyrics are set in a time and world long gone and forgotten, mostly made up of fantasy and a medieval theme, fitting for the realms of our style of music,” explains vocalist Rob Watkins of the album’s themes and inspirations. “We draw inspiration from the natural environment and mother nature, ancient witchcraft and the glory of warriors in battle. I picture Black Lava as visiting an ancient beast in a cave giving you a chance to escape the outside world through its tales and mythology.”

With a new deal with Season of Mist and a team of some of the music industry’s most revered artists, producers, engineers, and professionals behind them to help render their vision, Black Lava is ready to make its debut and unleash its fury upon the masses.

Dan Presland (drums)
Ben Boyle (guitar)
Rob Watkins (Vocals)
Tim Anderson (bass)

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION Excite with Remarkable Fourth Single, “I’m A Bitch” + Official Video

Exciting Self-Titled Debut Album

Out this Friday, November 25 via Napalm Records

Pre-Order NOW

German modern metal upstarts LEAGUE OF DISTORTION have introduced an incrediblyrefreshing sound to the scene with the successful releases of fiery first singles Wolf or Lamb and “My Revenge, proving the musical finesse and experience of lead membersAnna “Ace” Brunner (Exit Eden) and Jim “Arro” Müller (Kissin’ Dynamite).

While the electrified third single It Hurts So Good recently added to their dangerous mood, the quartet goes all out by showing their most resilient side on final single I’m A Bitch, landing just before the release of their self-titled debut album this Friday, November 25 via Napalm Records.

The vibrant formation doesn’t make any compromises by offering a wild, energetic sound that doesn't hide behind any norms. I’m A Bitch kicks off with hypnotizing rhythms, rising up to a grooving, hard-hitting soundscape while making an empowering statement with its music video.

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION on “I’m A Bitch”:

“This song is about social prejudice and inequality. Women and men are still being treated with different measures. With this provocative topic, song and music video, we are speaking up against this injustice, wanting to persuade you to reprogram the old patterns of thinking.”

Watch the Official Music Video for “I’m A Bitch”

A new force, LEAGUE OF DISTORTION unites to defeat the shadows cast upon the music scene with their fresh sound and style! Back in 2017, Anna Brunner celebrated remarkable international success with her symphonic metal band Exit Eden and has now teamed up with notorious guitarist Jim Müller of renowned heavy metal band Kissin’ Dynamite.

Together, they’ve formed one of the hottest new modern metal bands of the year, combining their signature sounds to create a powerful soundscape. Now, they are ready to fight the darkness yet again with their 2022 full-length, the self-titled debut album, 'League of Distortion'.

Lifting the dark veil of stagnation caused by the pandemic, LEAGUE OF DISTORTIONintroduces a new sound that resonates with the uncertainty of this period. Wolf or Lamb- the addictive first stand-alone single that introduced the band as a force to be reckoned with - ignites the fire of the full album. Rebel By Choice and The Bitter Endshow the band’s burning passion and dedication to the genre, while My Revengeconvinces with a catchy hook and bashing guitar riffs.

The elemental force of Anna “Ace” Brunner’s distorted, powerful voice merged with chunky riffs played by Jim “Arro” Müller, steady and strong beats delivered by Tino “Aeon” Calmbach and edgy bass by Felix “Ax” Rehmann unifies them, forming a strong blast of an album that cannot be missed!

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION showcases the individual musical expertise of its members without ever becoming stagnant or pretentious - unabashedly distorting the order and launching a new age of metal. Catchy hooks like in L.O.D.mark anthems to claim their new reign. With songs like Solitary Confinement and Sin, the band shows their lyrical depth by turning their sadness into a powerful war cry, providing expressive pieces and hymns for the lost.

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION convinces with classic pieces featuring strong instrumentals, on-the-nose lyrics and energetic vocals, proving their penchant to stand out from the pack. They’ve transformed their frustration into a musical statement beyond comparison. With Do You Really Think I Fucking Care, the band lands the final punch of the album to make the message clear: LEAGUE OF DISTORTION are here to set the scene ablaze!

The band on their debut album:

"With this debut album, we lay the cornerstone of LEAGUE OF DISTORTION. Processing the cruel and capricious reality, with straight-forward, provocative and very personal topics, we are distorting perspective and creating tremendously powerful music. LEAGUE OF DISTORTION is here to stay, and we welcome you to be a part of this from the very beginning."

Trench Dogs Sign New Record Deal with Wild Kingdom/Sound Pollution

Second Album

'Stockholmiana'

to be Released March 3, 2023!

Trench Dogs released their debut album 'Year Of The Dog' in August of 2018 and the plan then was to really focus on getting on the road and playing shows. But, with the world grinding to a halt in 2020, those plans had to change, and the band instead put their full attention on writing and recording what would become their second album.

'Stockholmiana' is a groovy rock n’ roll album with songs that span the human emotional spectrum and explore the tragedy and bliss of our strange existence.

The band expands on elements from the last album and the result is a record that mixes speedy rock n’ roll bangers with bombastic mid-tempo tracks that are big in all the right places and raw where they should be. Big backing vocals and drums complement melodic guitar riffs while still hitting hard with the energetic, boozy and unpolished attitude that has become the trademark of the band.

Signing with Wild Kingdom almost seemed like a natural choice for us says drummer Martini, also stating that, "We’ve personally known some of the people involved with the label for several years. We’ve even had the pleasure to play an acoustic show in the Sound Pollution store in Stockholm a couple of years back so when the talks about this cooperation started, it felt right from the start”

Lead singer Andy also comments, "Signing with Wild Kingdom felt like the right step for us to take, we self-released our first album but this second one deserves a proper label release and I think Wild Kingdom is a perfect match for us. Also, them being a Stockholm based label, us being a Stockholm based band and even the album being called 'Stockholmiana' must be seen as a sign, right?”

Pre-Order 'Stockholmiana' HERE

The multinational band has kept up its tradition of seeking to cooperate with people outside of their home country as the album was mixed by Harry Darling (of the band Bitch Queens) at Lux studios in Switzerland, as well as being mastered by producer Al Scott in England.

'Stockholmiana' has all the best parts from their previous releases but still sees the band moving forward and evolving.

Martini adds, "This album as well as our new cooperation with Wild Kingdom is the band taking it up a notch and having a label like Wild Kingdom to stand with us as we do that is a great thing.”
