Denver Doom-rock outfit SHEPHERD will unleash their debut studio EP, 'First Hand', next Friday (November 20th) on Destruent Records. In anticipation of the record, the band partnered with Decibel Magazine to premiere a new track, titled "Persephone". Fans can check out the new song from the group's upcoming EP right here.

Speaking with Decibel Magazine about "Persephone," the band shares, “Our pursuit always is to make music that people can feel and move to. In 'Persephone,' we wanted to write something straightforward with impact. The pieces fell together and we knew instantly that it was one of our best efforts."

The band DEATH DEALER lead by ROSS THE BOSS has issued a new lyric video, ‘EVERY NATION,” off their forthcoming 3rd record, CONQUERED LANDS - to be released worldwide November 13, 2020, through STEEL CARTEL.

Sean: "It is kind of weird that I wrote these lyrics 4 years ago and the video was scheduled to come out now in the middle of a turbulent time of division. The song represents how I feel that the metal community that it is an evolved society compared to others. If I see someone with an Iron Maiden shirt on at the store I say hey what is up and throw them the horns. I do not care about any of the things that could divide us. I just know we are both metal loving maniacs and that is the number one thing for me. People say it is a lifestyle off the cuff but it really is."

Ross: "The song is really rocking and has a strong message too. Music is a uniter and the video captured the concept perfectly. This whole album is filled with great songs like this one I am really proud of it. So support heavy metal and pick it up!"

Stu: "I was hoping this track would get picked as one of the songs to do a video for. I always liked how it came together when Sean and I wrote it. This track is one I am sure we will be working into the live set in the future."

Mike: "Sean and Stu let me be as creative as I wanted on the album. They just set me loose and trusted me 100%. This style of metal is right up my alley. It's where my playing is at its best. The level of talent in this band is off the charts. These guys push me to the edge and I love it."

DEMON HUNTER ANNOUNCE SONGS OF DEATH AND RESURRECTION ALBUM AND LIVESTREAM PERFORMANCE

PERFORMING NEW ALBUM IN FULL NOVEMBER 20th

DEMON HUNTER surprised fans today with the announcement of Songs of Death and Resurrection, a brand new acoustic album due March 5th, 2021.

In celebration, the band will livestream a full performance of the album, from start to finish, on November 20th. Songs of Death and Resurrection features 11 newly recorded “Resurrected” versions of classic DEMON HUNTER songs from across their ten studio albums, including “I Am a Stone,” “I Will Fail You,” “Carry Me Down,” and “The Heart of a Graveyard,” plus a brand new composition, “Praise the Void.”

Lush string arrangements, haunting piano, and layered vocal harmonies accompany the “reimagined” acoustic versions found on Songs of Death and Resurrection. The album features founding vocalist/songwriter Ryan Clark, lead guitarist Patrick Judge, bassist Jonathan Dunn, drummer Yogi Watts, and guitarist Jeremiah Scott, who produced and mixed the effort in Atlanta, Georgia, and Nashville, Tennessee. Scott also produced the band’s War (2019), Peace (2019), Outlive (2017), and Extremist(2014) records. Joanna Ott performed piano and additional vocals throughout. Strings were arranged and performed by Chris Carmichael. Clark’s mother, Peggy, his original vocal inspiration, appears alongside her son for the first time ever, on “Dead Flowers” and “Loneliness.”

DEMON HUNTER will perform the entire album, from start to finish, in an exclusive livestream performance, taped at Dark Horse Studios in Franklin, TN. The livestream will air at 5pm PST November 20th and will remain available for a 48 hour period only.

Clark had this to say about Songs of Death and Resurrection:

The Demon Hunter ballad has been a defining aspect of our band since our very first album. My brother and I knew that if we wanted the freedom to pursue more somber, more melodic moments of creativity, we had to set that precedent from the beginning. What we didn’t realize then was just how important these songs would become to both the band and our fans.

The concept of an acoustic record is something we’ve been considering—and encouraged to pursue by fans—for many years. After ten studio albums, and a tour cycle that included a full acoustic set, it felt like the right time to actualize this idea. What we didn’t want to do is something we had done before. Though we’ve played many of these songs in acoustic fashion over the years, we’ve never done so with such a level of care and attention. We hope that comes across in these recordings.

New Album 'To Live To Kill To Live' is OUT NOW

Danish prog-thrash veterans MANTICORA have released the second music video from their critically acclaimed ninth album 'To Live To Kill To Live', which is the follow-up/second half to their 2018 concept record 'To Kill To Live To Kill'. Both albums are based on the 334-page horror/thriller novel written by lead singer Lars F. Larsen.

This semi-lyrical video for "Katana - Death of the Meaning of Life" is vividly composed and produced by the talented Chilean video producer Federico Bossinga from the company Abstract Chaos. The story of the song is a very sad, bordering on despair-inducing, tale which the band is delving deep into at several occasions on the last 2 albums, making up the overall concept.

Guitarist Kristian Larsen goes deeper into the story of 'Katana' and the creation of the music video, sharing:

"Since this song deals with the story in which a young Dutch sailor - situated in Hong Kong, 1921, at the time when the story takes place - is falling in love with a local prostitute and looking at what he calls the love of his life, getting brutally murdered by local thugs, we wanted to express ourselves in colours that match the story.

The light blue colours, resembling the room in which most of the story takes place, the dark red, resembling the extreme amount of blood, present in the story, when several people are killed in violent ways (by means of either gun or Katana). Federico (Bossinga) was given the lyrics, the story and all our ideas and impressions of this sad tale and he has splendidly matched the storyline with the colours and imagery."

The music on both albums was recorded partially in the band's own studio and recorded/mixed in Hansen Studioswith World-famous producer, Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Destruction, a.o.) who also produced the first two MANTICORA albums back in the last millenium.

Symphonic metal horror masters CARACH ANGREN have unveiled the spooky new music video for the song "Franckensteina Strataemontanus," which is the title track of the band's 2020 release!

The Dutch masters of horror are back with their most flamboyant album so far. On 'Franckensteina Strataemontanus', CARACH ANGREN resurrect the gruesome story of troubled soul ‘Conrad Dippel’; the inspiration of Mary Shelly’s novel 'Frankenstein'.

CARACH ANGREN have extended all the sonic colours on their established palette to dazzling effect. Their trademark whipping guitars are weaving harsh melodies and sinister soundscapes, which are beautifully contrasted by opulent keyboards and majestic orchestrations. That Till Lindemann (RAMMSTEIN) and Peter Tägtgren (PAIN) have called upon the composition talent of Clemens "Ardek" Wijers is a telling sign of his outstanding mastery of the craft. Another signatory counterpoint is provided by Seregor's fierce rasping and shrieking vocals. Adding to the impact, Namtar has become a relentless driving force with his hart hitting yet intricate drumming. CARACH ANGREN set out to tell ghost-stories with a set of paranormal cases recorded on the demo 'The Chase Vault Tragedy' (2004). This was soon followed by the official release of the 'Ethereal Veiled Existence' EP (2005) as a prelude to the haunting 'Lammendam' (2008). The Dutch had a clear vision of combining a dark baroque style of metal with horror based lyrical concepts. Their sophomore full-length 'Death Came through a Phantom Ship' (2010) witnessed the band setting sail to bring their eccentric and capturing live performances to audiences and festivals all over Europe. In the wake of third album 'Where the Corpses Sink Forever' (2012), the haunting had reached the Americas and started to spread rapidly. This record added a serious side to the lyrics of CARACH ANGREN. While firmly remaining in the horror genre, their tales revolve around the evils of war. This mature streak was taken a step further with the fourth full-length 'This Is No Fairytale', which is on the surface a darker variation of the "Hansel and Gretel" story from the Brothers Grimm collection, but also deals with the too real topic of child abuse in a dysfunctional family. With ‘Dance And Laugh Amongst The Rotten’ (2017), the band returned to pure story telling with episodes that are centred on a girl playing a little too long with her Ouija board.

NEW ALBUM BLACK SHEEP ARRIVES FEBRUARY 19, 2021

Snakefarm Records is pleased to announce the signing of singer, songwriter, and guitarist Austin Meade to the roster. Meade and his music sprung up from the Red Dirt music scene, as he deftly fuses country and rock 'n' roll in a DNA-distinct way.

Meade will release his label debut Black Sheep on February 19, 2021.

To herald the announcement, the artist has shared the video for "Happier Alone." The track is already shaping up to be a hit, surpassing 2 million streams in the U.S. alone.

"I played this song at least 30 times the first day we wrote it," Meade explains, offering some insight into the track and its accompanying visual "For me, it doesn't get old and the idea for the video was sitting in my head for a few months. It's a tip of the hat to my high school hometown: Brenham, Texas. I've always wanted to go back and shoot a video with old friends in the places that we loved hanging out when we were younger. So we got a killer crew together and made it happen."

He continues, "'Happier Alone' turned into the exact early 2000's sound that I've always loved, and the video keeps that nostalgic aura alive. 'You could be happier alone' is a pretty heavy statement when standing alone as text on a page. But the music and video give you a peek inside our true intentions of keeping life funny and enjoying the small moments — like an old roller rink couple's skate."

ABOUT AUSTIN MEADE:

Austin Meade's songs and stories are contradictory yet cohesive. On his Snakefarm Records debut, Black Sheep, his influences —musical and otherwise— are as varied and rich as the small-town Texas soil that nurtured his talent and yielded these 12 stellar songs ranging from multi-layered musicality and storytelling to dark alt-pop to new age and Sabbath-inspired. Thanks to his metal-and classic-rock loving dad, Meade got to see bands like Judas Priest and worshipped Whitesnake. In junior high, he related to the intense emo-rock of Paramore and Fall Out Boy, as well as the power of songwriters like John Mayer. Yet, thanks to plainspoken but deep heartland songwriters like Tom Petty, and cutting his teeth touring in the Texas and Oklahoma Red Dirt scene, Meade’s music overflows with wide-open soulfulness. He was a drummer for years, even teaching to pay the bill. Meade eventually found his true voice when he began playing guitar as a teen in his pastor father’s church. Those experiences lend both a gravitas and rebelliousness to Meade's songs and self.

Toronto, ON based Dark Alternative Rock Band A PRIMITIVE EVOLUTION, fronted by The Birthday Massacrebassist Brett Carruthers, has released the official music video for "Ghost," off of the band's latest album, Becoming. Directed by Terra Joy McNerthney and produced by long time collaborator and friend Bailey Northcott.

A song about love and loss, inspired by the shared grieving process of filial death, the video for "Ghost" takes place in a desolate, post-apocalyptic dreamscape where two lone survivors search for connection. Radio waves call to them, but what will they find at the source of the signal?

“'Ghost' was a song we took a chance on. We’d never written an epic long piece like this before and it really helped seal the album together for us. I wrote this song when I was having a lot of dreams of my father who we lost when I was 14. Funny how certain years these “ghosts”seem to come back and haunt you. Often times you almost feel as though they’re communicating with you or something along those lines. It’s a really beautiful moment where you feel like you’re with them again, the disappointment is waking up to reality.” - A PRIMITIVE EVOLUTION

"The song opens with an atmospheric, The Edge-esque guitar riff and lead singer Brett Carruthers’ singing in a hushed tone. As the song progresses through the first verse, he appears in the video, sitting besides a vintage car playing a beat up acoustic guitar. “Ghost” continues to add musical elements as it progresses and after a few minutes has morphed from an sparse arrangement to a shoegaze-inspired wall of sound with distorted guitars, a shuffling drum beat from Stu Dead and moody synth tones. THEODOR BASTARD is one of Russia's most unusual bands who represents the electronic Karelian neofolk genre, while blending elements of dark wave and trip hop. Focused on messages of mythology and shamanism, the hallmarks of the band are the unique and bewitching lead vocals of multi-talent Yana Veva and the impeccable sound producing skills of Fedor Svolotch, who founded the band two decades ago.

From album to album, THEODOR BASTARD carefully and masterly combine many different exotic and traditional instruments. The special northern atmosphere of their albums is created with Nordic nyckelharpa and jouhikko, primeval flutes created from tree roots and shamanic percussion.

"We live in the north of Russia in Karelia, which has a difficult fate" states band leader Fedor Svolotch. He continues: "This is a harsh northern region with unpredictable nature, with spruce and pine forests. Bears are found here. Moose and hare come straight to my house. In Karelia there are beautiful cliffs and clear lakes with fresh water. These are our personal places of power, the places where stones and winds are talking to us. Singing for us a songs of the northern harsh nature".

THEODOR BASTARD consists of six musicians, turning their performances into a dark and magical artistry that sends the audience back to Northern musical traditions. The collective captures a sound that is both ancient and modern as they blend electronics and contemporary sounds with rudimenrary instruments as well as their own hand-made instruments from stones, human bone and the roots of Karelian birch.
