About Hootie & the Blowfish
With the rich, bluesy vocals of Darius Rucker and gleeful harmonies of guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber and drummer Jim “Soni” Sonefeld, Hootie & the Blowfish have sold over 25 million records worldwide to date after their infectious melodies hit the airwaves in 1994 with hits such as “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry” and “Only Wanna Be With You.” The quartet met at the University of South Carolina where endless gigs at frat houses and local bars built a major local buzz. Their blend of pop, folk, blues, soul and rock made them hard to pigeonhole, but easily accessible to anyone who loved good music.

Atlantic Records, impressed by their regional draw, signed them and released Cracked Rear View in 1994. The album had been out for six months before the band played on the “Late Show with David Letterman” which sent sales skyrocketing, eventually landing at No. 1 on the Billboard chart the following spring. Cracked Rear View and the band went on to win two GRAMMY Awards, an MTV Video Music Award, a Billboard Music Award and multiple People's Choice Awards. Cracked Rear View also earned the band Billboard's Band of the Year Award in 1996 and the RIAA's Diamond Award for sales in excess of 10 million units. At 21x Platinum, Cracked Rear View remains among the Top 10 best-selling studio albums in music business history.

The band remained a top draw nationwide following their debut and released five more albums for Atlantic: Fairweather Johnson, Musical Chairs, Scattered, Smothered & Covered, Hootie & the Blowfish and The Best of Hootie & the Blowfish, as well as Looking For Lucky on their own Sneaky Long Records and LIVE in Charleston, The Homegrown Concert Event DVD and CD. The band took a break from full-time touring in 2007, reuniting annually for a variety of philanthropic events while also pursuing solo projects. 2019 marked the band's first full-time touring year in over a decade as they embarked on the sold-out Group Therapy Tour in support of Imperfect Circle, released in late 2019 under a new record deal with Universal Music Group’s Capitol Nashville.

Southern Rock Artist CAGE WILLIS Releases Official Music Video for Single "Home To You"

Southern rock artist Cage Willis has released his official music video for single "Home To You."The video was filmed by Ian Davis (Ian Davis Media) and produced by Cage Willis.

“I want to be as genuine as possible, with that in mind, “Home To You” was filmed entirely in my hometown. Starring a local couple and featuring places around Wabash County, I hope to really represent the little things we love about where we live," says Willis.

He adds, “ It's a day in the life of a midwest workin' man.”

During the summer of 2017, Cage crossed paths with drummer Cameron Allen. Jamming on the likes of Gary Clark Jr., Chris Stapleton, and The Marcus King Band, the two knew that they wanted to continue to play together. They first performed in early 2019 as a two piece at a “Battle of the Bands” in Evansville, IN. Bass Guitarist Andrew Logan joined Cage and Cameron at the beginning of 2020. Today, they continue to perform together live at local venues, and opening for acts like The Cold Stares and even Foreigner's VIB. Cage released his first single in early 2021. Over the course of the year, Cage recorded and released Bones (Our Town), an EP. His first full length album, a 10-track album, will debut late this Fall.

NYC post-punk duo Frenchy and the Punk release 'Come In and Play', a Siouxsie-esque preview of their 'Zen Ghost' LP

"Explosive, subdued, confrontational, soothing, spikey, and accessible, an incredible blend of alt-rock shade and alt-folk light" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Penetrating psych-soaked post-punk... Brimming with their signature cinematic drama and that unforgettable voice" ~ Global Texan Chronicles

"Bombastic... a happy medium between the sonic atmosphere and thoughtful melancholy of post-punk music and the unmistakable drama of cabaret... as beautifully manic as some of the finest artists on America's early punk' scene" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"An inspiriting slice of post punk hued, new wave nurtured rock ‘n’ roll... under the skin and hungrily stirring the imagination in a flash" ~ Ringmaster Review

NYC-based postpunk duo Frenchy and the Punk presents 'Come In and Play', an upbeat Siouxsie-esque delight and the second enchanting single from their forthcoming 'Zen Ghost' album. Their seventh long-player record, this will be released via the EA Recordings label on October 28.

Frenchy and the Punk is vocalist, percussionist and lyricist Samantha Stephensonand guitarist-composer Scott Helland, who was co-founder and bassist of Outpatients and also Deep Wound (along with Dinosaur Jr. founders J Mascis and Lou Barlow). Influenced by The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Blondie, Concrete Blonde and The B52’s, the duo thrive in their trademark blend of post-punk and dark folk music.

About 'Come In and Play', Samantha Stephenson says, "This song was named in relation to a character in Bewitched, my mom was a fan of the show. It sparked a curiosity and enthusiasm for all things mystical and magical from an early age. I could be quite solitary and eventually dove into a meditation practice. That feeling of going inward and exploring the inner workings of the esoteric realm always felt very comforting."

Earlier, the band released the lead track 'Mon Souvenir', an unapologetically new wave nugget, propelled by chugging acoustic chords, that reflects the album’s central theme of transcending ‘mind phantoms’ - the experiences from the past that linger within all of us.

Dark times make for dark songs. 'Zen Ghost' was written and recorded during the downtime of 2020-2021. Here, the duo's shadowy sound takes an even darker turn - an inward spin into the pair’s previously unexplored personal planes and interpretations of the insanity of our increasingly tumultuous age. But despite its more pronounced moodiness, like the rest of the band’s oeuvre, 'Zen Ghost' offers plenty of opportunities to dance in the darkness.

Tapped as one of the Top 25 duos in the US by Yahoo! Music, the freewheeling pair has released numerous recordings, including the acclaimed albums 'Happy Madness' (2010), 'Hey Hey Cabaret' (2012), 'Elephant Uproar' (2013), 'Cartwheels' (2014), 'Bonjour Batfrog' (2014), and 'Hooray Beret' (2019).

French-born, but raised in the UK and USA, Stephenson’s study of piano and dance ignited her eventual rejection of corporate conformity and fueled a quest to lead a truly autonomous life through art and music. A son of jazz-loving teachers, Helland grew up in Western Massachusetts and was a vital player on the region’s fertile early hardcore punk scene.

Helland and Stephenson met in NYC in 1998, when Stephenson spontaneously jumped on stage to accompany Helland during his solo guitar performance. The artistic union was immediate, powerful and undeniable. The two began to tour with fevered zeal, turning heads with their striking aesthetic, steadily building fervent fans on the mystical-folk/steampunk festival, coffeehouse, convention, and club circuits with their boisterous, revival-like live shows.

Since then, they've performed live with Dead Can Dance's Peter Ulrich and Dresden Dolls' Brian Viglione, and opened for Thomas Dolby, Dinosaur Jr., The World Inferno Friendship Society, Rasputina, Cruxshadows, Hurray For The Riff Raff and The Young Dubliners.

'Come in and Play' is now out everywhere, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp, where 'Mon Souvenir' can also be found. The 'Zen Ghost' album will be released on October 28 and is available for pre-order digitally via Bandcamp and on CD via the band's website.

Anti-Flag Share "MODERN META MEDICINE" Video Feat. Jesse Leach of KsE — WATCH

Lies They Tell Our Children' January 6 via Spinefarm.

A limited-edition, olive-green vinyl version of the album is now available

For this record, the band recruited several high profile and like-minded artists to feature on the songs.

Today, the band has shared the video for "MODERN META MEDICINE"

Watch it below.

The track features Killswitch Engage vocalist Jesse Leach.

"Let's be honest, in a world and cultural climate that reaps division and sows a void of nuance in our conversations, writing a record that challenges a healthcare system that puts profit before people can be scary," the band says. "But an opioid crisis, miracle cures for our weight, our skin, the hair on our heads, a limp dick, and then the simultaneous denial of access to healthcare for the bodies of pregnant people, the poor, Black and immigrant communities is a stark contrast that must be discussed.

"At the crossroads of where business models and our healthcare intersect, the for-profit model has beyond proven it is unsustainable. And the fact that these corporations have preyed openly upon the most vulnerable in our society with very little push back has only opened the doors wildly for the conspiracy theorist, instead of allowing us to globally celebrate science, progress and the advancements of our healthcare.

"MODERN META MEDICINE' looks to trace back the origins of capitalisms takeover of our health as global citizens, the Reagan era policies that allowed for billionaires to flourish off of the suffering of so many. Healthcare is a human right, and we need to steal our rights back from a machine that sees us as commodities and profit margins, however we can.

"We are grateful to Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage for lending his talent and empathy to this track. Since becoming friends we’ve had a few great conversations on this topic so we knew he would be perfect for this and holy shit did he deliver."

For the lyrics and essay about the track, click HERE

INDECLINE, who shot the video, also commented, "In a feedback loop of self-referential information, it's hard to sort out any kind of accountability. The moment of epiphany is often washed away in the tidal wall of think pieces, hammering truth into sophistry, our sense of identity into marketing campaigns. Music is powerful, like all art, because it hinges on the truth of the moment, something felt first. We feel, personally, that health is the point of being alive, not a luxury good to keep the markets accelerating toward a concentration of wealth in the hands of an emerging class of cynical billionaires, who would burn the planet to build their rocket ship out of here.

"The Black Panthers understood that health is the first step in community, and community is the first step in change. We won’t argue about resources; in a world of cruel excess, we are sure that a little organization and empathy in the dispensation of what we already have would make a difference in the quality of life for everyone. So, imagine a world in which quality was preferenced over quantity. Or rather, over empty dollar signs. Imagine measuring our markets in the effect they have on those who participate in them instead of the intangible math of growth. We would have a different health care system in that world. What would it look like?

"'First, 'do no harm' has never been an excuse to do nothing. It is a challenge to think about the deeper consequences of how we dispense care. It doesn't cost us anything to think about it, but it costs an awful lot not to. We are grateful to Anti-Flag for giving people music that allows them to think about what really matters. This is actually a love song. But the love is available equally, for everyone who is willing to accept it. That’s our hope for health care, too."

'Lies They Tell Our Children' was recorded, produced, and mixed by Jon Lundin.

Anti-Flag are also returning to the road this fall. The band will embark on a headline run of the U.S. before heading to Canada.

Anti-Flag's tour will kick off on September 16 in Burlington, Vermont and run through November 6 with an appearance at Punk Rock in the Park in Silverado, California.

WEDNESDAY 13 Embodies Horror Punk Spirit with Brand New Single "Good Day to Be A Bad Guy"

Ninth Studio Album, 'Horrifier',

Out this Friday, October 7

via Napalm Records

Pre-Order HERE

On Tour Now in North America!

The undisputed Duke of Spook, WEDNESDAY 13, will finally drop his highly anticipated new album, 'Horrifier', this Friday, October 7, 2022 via Napalm Records!

Today, following the addictive first single "You're so Hideous", and one of his heaviest outputs yet, the lauded "Insides Out", WEDNESDAY 13 has revealed his latest concoction - surefire future fan-favorite "Good Day To Be A Bad Guy". The track aces the pure horror punk spirit of Murderdolls as a downright blissful tongue-in-cheek earworm that’ll seep into the listener’s head on repeat.

WEDNESDAY 13 says about "Good Day To Be A Bad Guy":

"'Good Day To Be a Bad Guy' is one of my favorite tracks off the new album. This track definitely has an earlier WEDNESDAY 13 sound to it, with the horror punk hammer in full swing and excessive use of the “F” word.

The video carries on with the horror movie theme with another tribute to one of my favorite films from the 80s, 'Halloween III: Season of the Witch'.”

Following up on 2019’s acclaimed 'Necrophaze' (#2 US Heatseekers), with 'Horrifier', the former front man of renowned horror punk supergroup Murderdolls revitalizes his sound with intensely fun punk energy and metallic attitude!

'Horrifier' weaves an underlying sonic thread reminiscent of WEDNESDAY 13’s roots – a raucous blend of ballistic metal and macabre heavy rock that’ll have new and diehard fans alike ascending from the depths.

WEDNESDAY 13’s ninth full-length album kicks off with eerie introductory track Severedbefore careening into one of the band’s heaviest songs ever recorded, the massive, slow and low Insides Out”. The aggressive, industrial-edged Exhume and Devour and warning sing-along single You’re so Hideous pick up the pace with danceable 90s sonic vigor.

The 'John Carpenter’s Halloween' inspired anthem Return to Haddonfield convinces with marching gang vocals and a searing metallic guitar solo before the pace picks up again on fast-riffing, mosh-ready title track Horrifier. Southern-fried metal tinged Hell Is Coming is one of the album’s best displays of stylistic versatility, accented by an impressively commanding vocal performance while pumping out a thrash-worthy breakdown and blues rock solo. Halfway to the Grave sees the band echoing 80s flavor accented by memorable leads and imploring lyrics before leading into the charging 'Christine' themed album standout Christine: Fury in the Night, featuring pounding drums, an unforgettable hook and a transfixing guitar lead that quite literally drives.

'Horrifier' closes with its most heartfelt track, The Other Side – a personal ode WEDNESDAY 13 penned about the sudden loss of his mother, as well as former Murderdolls bandmate Joey Jordison – but that also shines as a vital anthem made further pertinent after recent years of intense worldwide loss and reflection.

'Horrifier' was produced and recorded by WEDNESDAY 13 with mixing and mastering by Brent Clawson and features stunning album artwork by Jonny Bush.

WEDNESDAY 13 offers about 'Horrifier':

"The last three releases have seen the band explore new ground with heavier songs, drums, and vocals. Coming out of the Covid crisis, I promised I would not release a sad, depressing record. I wanted to make a fun, horror themed rock record that would be reminiscent of the first few WEDNESDAY 13 records. The new album is a fun, fast-paced, thriller!"

JUNO Award Winning Rock Duo CROWN LANDS Join Greta Van Fleet on 'Dreams in Gold' Tour This Month

JUNO award-winning, powerhouse rock outfit Crown Lands are eager to embark on their most impactful US tour to date. The duo of Cody Bowles (vocals, drums) and Kevin Comeau (guitar, bass, keys) will join the 2022 'Dreams In Gold' arena tour, supporting the one and only Greta Van Fleet! Crown Lands will begin their run on the tour on October 18 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Commenting on these upcoming shows, Cody & Kevin share:

"We’re very much looking forward to playing in the US again! It’s been years. We’ve missed the culture, the interstates, and the people. It’s an honour to be opening up for Greta Van Fleet. They opened the door for rock music to penetrate the mainstream in our generation. It feels like a natural fit. So many fans have called for us to tour together for years. It feels good to be making it happen!"

The Canadian prog-rockers go on to address making their return to the states this year, saying:

"Touring the USA right now is one of the hardest things a band can do. It has become absurdly expensive when you factor in fuel, hotels, Van maintenance, crew wages, work permit costs (trust me this is a big one). Not to mention the risk of covid and other illnesses when playing to arenas full of people. It’s a beautiful and risky endeavour. All of this, plus 8-hour drives each day to get on stage for a half hour. That time on stage is why we do it. We believe it’s worth it. We are a live band. It’s in our blood. This is why we do it! See you on the road."

ABOUT CROWN LANDS

Juno-Award winning rock-duo, Crown Lands’ self-titled debut album, produced by Grammy-nominated Dave Cobb, was released in the summer of 2020, to widespread acclaim from the likes of Guitar World, Kerrang!, and American Songwriter; coverage from the BBC and the CBC. Crown Lands then stormed into 2021 with two songs, “Context: Fearless Pt. 1” and “Right Way Back,” that returned them to their prog-rock roots and pointed the way to a limitless future, while also connecting the group to their legendary countrymen, Rush, after working with three prolific Rush producers – Terry Brown, Nick Raskulinecz and David Bottrill – on the tracks. “Context: Fearless Pt. 1” and “Right Way Back” premiered with Rolling Stone and were named “Rockest Record of the Week” on BBC Radio 1. Shortly after, Crown Lands received their first Juno Award nominations, for Rock Album of the Year and taking home the award for Breakthrough Group of the Year. Crown Lands continued their collaboration with Bottrill, releasing four more tracks they had worked on with him in the form of White Buffalo which included the mission-driven title track, “White Buffalo” which was presented as the third installment of a trilogy of songs addressing Indigenous rights. The series of songs connect the past with “Mountain,” the present with “End of the Road” while “White Buffalo” aspires to a prosperous future. Most recently, Crown Lands released their first-ever live record, Odyssey Volume 1 which celebrates songs from their emergent discography to date.

Hailing from Southwestern Ontario, powerhouse Canadian rock duo Crown Lands is a startlingly fresh jolt of energy, making music that brings together a range of influences

from folk and blues to psychedelic prog rock. The group’s name is indicative of their

musical ambitions: “Crown Land” is territorial area belonging to the monarch—or, as

Bowles (whose own heritage is half Mi’kmaw, an Indigenous tribe from Nova Scotia)

puts it: “Crown Land is stolen land and we are reclaiming.

Whiskey Myers Celebrate Year Two of Firewater Music Festival; Named Texas Roadhouse's October Featured Artist

With POLLSTAR proclaiming in their recent cover story that “somewhere between the six-string swagger of Southern rock and the hard-charging improv-aspect of jam bands, Whiskey Myers ignited a national fervor,” the cover stars brought together fans and musical friends for a 150 acre celebration outside Kansas City this weekend for their second annual Firewater Music Festival.

Kicking off Thursday evening with a pre-party concert for early access camping attendees, Clay Clear Band, Eli Howard & The Greater Good, Matt Poss Band and Steven Bankey & The Flatlanders (who also returned late Saturday night for an after party performance) set the stage for a weekend of intimate performances by a who’s who of artists straddling the lines of Country, Rock and Americana.

As the weekend continued, Old 97s, Nikki Lane, 49 Winchester, Austin Meade and Them Dirty Roses launched the main event with thrilling Friday performances on the Main Stage that culminated with a captivating headlining set from Blackberry Smoke. The Friday night party continued with a late-night forest jam at the Campground Stage hosted by 49 Winchester with Whiskey Myers percussionist Tony Kent joining for a few songs, offering a unique opportunity for fans to see their favorite artists up close in a jam session environment.

Saturday’s musical offerings kept the party going with performances by Quaker City Night Hawks, Goodbye June, Matt Koziol and The Weathered Souls, plus Read Southall Band as the final guest stars of the lineup. A highlight of the day came midway through Goodbye June’s set, as lead guitarist Tyler Baker lost his footing during an all-out jam, landing on his back and continuing to play from the ground without missing a beat.

As the night came to a climax, Whiskey Myers themselves took the stage to close out the Main Stage for the weekend. Performing everything from RIAA Platinum-certified hits “Stone,” “Ballad of a Southern Man” and “Broken Window Serenade” to fan-favorite cuts “Frogman,” “Virginia,” “Bury My Bones” and more, the set culminated in an all-sing finale featuring members of Read Southall Band, Goodbye June and The Weathered Souls joining for a cover of Tom Petty’s “Refugee” to bring an energetic close to Firewater Music Festival.

With Whiskey Myers having also performed a healthy offering of music off Tornillo, their latest critically acclaimed album that was released in July, the band celebrated by Rolling Stone as “the new torch bearers for Southern music” and by Esquire as “the real damn deal” thrilled the Firewater crowd just as they have at sold-out shows across the country on their Tornillo Tour, underway now.

In addition to upcoming tour dates, Whiskey Myers will also be featured as Texas Roadhouse’s featured artist for the month of October, with the beloved restaurant prominently featuring the band’s music via in-store jukeboxes and by playing their John Wayne” music video frequently across all 600+ locations nationwide.

About Whiskey Myers
Genre-bending band Whiskey Myers have played more than 2,500 live shows to ever-increasing crowd sizes since their emergence in 2007. In addition to headlining their own sold-out shows from coast to coast at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater and Ryman Auditorium, plus performing at marquee festivals Bonnaroo, Stagecoach, Download and more, the six-piece was also personally selected to open The Rolling Stones’ Chicago stadium show in 2019. Their latest self-produced album, Tornillo, available everywhere now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records, follows their fifth studio album, Whiskey Myers, which debuted at No. 1 on both the Country and Americana/Folk sales charts, at No. 2 on the Rock chart and No. 6 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart (No. 3 among new releases). In total, Whiskey Myers have sold more than 1.4 million albums and amassed nearly 2 billion streams while earning four RIAA Gold & Platinum certifications as an independent band. Known for their high-energy live show and unique sound, the band praised by Esquire as “the real damn deal” has also earned sync success with features (and an on-screen appearance) in Paramount’s hit show “Yellowstone” as well as Netflix series “What/If,” Angelina Jolie film “Those Who Wish Me Dead” and hit CBS series “SEAL Team.” USA Today describes their sound as “a riff-heavy blend of Southern rock and gritty country that has earned comparisons to the Allman Brothers Band and Led Zeppelin,” with Rolling Stone noting “it’s the seminal combination of twang and crunchy rock & roll guitars that hits a perfect sweet spot.”

Left to Suffer Unleash New Single + Music Video "Snake"

Atlanta, GA nu-deathcore outfit Left to Suffer has released their latest single and music video, "Snake". Co-written with Three Days Grace's Neil Sanderson and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Howard Benson, today's drop is the first release since the band's latest EP, 'And Dying Forever'. Speaking on working with Sandersonand Benson, the band shares:

"Listening to Three Days Grace in our parents’ cars growing up was one of each of our first real introductions to music. Something that led all 5 of us to Slipknot and Korn, then eventually to whole deathcore/metalcore scenes. It’s safe to say we wouldn’t be here without them. So when Neil Sanderson, the band’s drummer, and main songwriter DM’d us on IG at the beginning of the year saying he was a super fan of ours we were in total shock. Then he told us that both he and super producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Three Days Grace, Papa Roach, etc) wanted to work with us on some songs and our minds were completely blown. There’s absolutely no way we could say no."

Neil Sanderson commented:

Howard Benson and I had been talking about how he and I wanted to make a few legit metal records. Howard, Johnny Lee Andrews and I were working on Three Days Grace and some other things, and I said to Johnny, "Hey man what’s the coolest heaviest metal band in Atlanta?" (where he lives), and he said, "Left to Suffer, no doubt." So I reached out to them and now here we are all working together.

Howard Benson said:

"Working with LTS was amazing.. they bring it on every take! We are stoked to have them release their music on Judge & Jury Records and hope we can do more work with them in the future!"

New York City has always served as a cultural epicenter for musical innovation. Even more so than incubating genres in their infancy such as hardcore and even glam metal, for which bands like Twisted Sister and KISS long set the stage before the Sunset Strip took the reigns, the empire state has a storied and unique history of taking genres whose roots lie elsewhere and making them its own; whether it be Anthrax reinventing Bay Area thrash, Suffocation and Immolation planting their flag as death metal purveyors at a time when it was a primary export of Florida, or bands like Blondie and the Ramones rivaling the British punk scene, the city has always been at the forefront of musical excellence. And when it comes to New York’s answer to black metal, Black Anvil have not only been a driving force for USBM, but have taken the black metal genre as a whole and made it entirely their own. Now, with full-length number five, the band has once again leveled up their game, presenting a “regenesis” of black metal.

Here you have 12 tracks of unrelenting yet thought provoking evil, sure to have you take a second & thoroughly re-examined view of what you thought black metal was supposed to be. “This is a more stripped down and aggressive song writing approach. Having time to digest ‘As Was,’ to understand where we were then versus where we are now was key. We always focus inward with our writing, never wanting to repeat ourselves, while also not losing our identity in a stretch to sound different,” explains Black Anvil bassist/vocalist P.

Challenging the norm has always been a core part of Black Anvil’s DNA since their formation in 2007. Upon the release of their debut full-length, Time Insults the Mind, the band quickly garnered the attention of Relapse Records and were presented with a deal. When it came to album number two, the band diverged from the typical approach of their contemporaries and sought an unlikely counterpart to render their vision, tapping engineer “General” George Fullan (The Rolling Stones, Dream Theater) at Mark “The Animal” Mendoza’s (Twisted Sister) Diamond Drop Studio on Long Island, NY. Released in September 2010, sophomore offering Triumvirate received much critical acclaim, notably being revered as an "all-around monster metal album."

Four years after its release, Triumvirate was followed by Hail Death, a 70-minute journey of intensity that further established Black Anvil as a modern black metal powerhouse. The album was met with praise by publications including Noisey, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Metal Injection, and many more. With the album’s success, the band’s profile rose as they were tapped to participate in numerous prominent tours with black metal legends such as Mayhem, Watain, Urfaust, Marduk as well as dates with Aura Noir, Nachtmystium, Immortal, Eyehategod, Cannibal Corpse, etc. Additionally, the band has appeared at various prestigious festivals including the Scion Rock Fest, Beyond The Gates in Bergen, Norway and the renowned Roadburn Festival in The Netherlands.

In 2017, Black Anvil dropped their fourth studio-album, As Was. Atmospheric and melodic without relenting on any of the ferocity that the collective has always been known for, As Was seamlessly weaves through eight monumental passages of extreme metal art, more diverse, complex, and thought-provoking than anything they've done before. The record proved itself to be a stellar representation of modern black metal and of Black Anvil’s continuous progression and songcraft.

Now, nearly six years after As Was made its mark, Black Anvil is returning with its aptly titled fifth full-length, Regenesis. With a new record label, a new album, and a newfound exploration of dark and black metal, Regenesisrepresents a new dawn for the New York City collective. “The concept is renewal, as well as the process/journey to get here outgrowing our past,” explains P. “Black Anvil has always been a departure from our past, a vehicle for us to grow as individuals, like a snake constantly shedding its skin. We don’t look  back, but never forget.”

Make no mistake, Regenesis is not a departure from Black Anvil’s identity, but rather serves as the latest progression in the band’s ever-evolving sound. The record takes what As Was did best and does it even better. The unrelenting and polished aggression hangs in the balance above dark melodic passages, presenting a dynamic soundscape that serves as the band’s most devastating and existential offering to date. As it’s evident that the band pulls inspiration from unlikely corners, they defy all genre standards and make one thing clear - this isn’t just black metal, this is NYBM.

ABORTED Sign With Nuclear Blast Records + Announce New Single "Infinite Terror"

On a moonless night, metal powerhouse NUCLEAR BLAST dared to gaze into the pitch black abyss and summoned one of the most vicious and menacing forces roaming the European death metal scene to join their ranks. Today, both of them are proud to announce that ABORTED have inked a contract with NUCLEAR BLAST!

The true scenario behind the signing of this outstanding genre pioneer might have been a bit less dramatic but the promise of an exciting future remains.

ABORTED have announced their first single right in time for the kick-off of their North American Tour with Lorna Shore. "Infinite Terror" will come to haunt your dreams, destroy your ears and musically seal the devilish deal that NUCLEAR BLAST and ABORTED have closed to spread the word of brutal death metal all around the world!

Sven de Caluwé (vocals) comments:
"We couldn’t be more excited to announce our signing to NUCLEAR BLAST — one of the premier labels for extreme music with tons of label mates we love. We are very excited to see where this mad caravan leads to next! After a very long and solid partnership with Century Media, it was time for us to try something new.

To celebrate our signing with NUCLEAR BLAST and the upcoming monster of a tour with our friends Lorna Shore, Ingested and more, we decided to unleash a new single. “Infinite Terror” will obliterate all your senses on October 19. The song is inspired by ‘Event Horizon’ and marks the debut of new guitarist Dan Konradsson (Ophidian I, Une Misère). Expect something dark, imposing, and HEAVY as fuck!"

Jaap Wagemaker, A&R Nuclear Blast Europe, adds:
"NUCLEAR BLAST is very excited to announce the signing of brutal death metal maniacs ABORTED.

ABORTED is one of the pioneers of the genre. Originally founded in Belgium, they have come a long way from the death/grind underground to creating a very successful, unique brand of horror-themed, cinematic extreme metal that’s highly compatible with today’s tech death and deathcore scenes. ABORTED have influenced a lot of bands worldwide, and for many bands being invited to go on tour with ABORTED meant the start of a successful career. ABORTED worked on their status even more by releasing classics such as The Necrotic Manifesto and Retrogore which somehow managed to surpass that album and showcased what the band is capable of: lifting death metal to a higher level of intensity, atmosphere and brutality.

NUCLEAR BLAST and ABORTED are looking forward to keep pushing the boundaries of high class brutal death metal together in the future!"

About ABORTED:

With their horror-themed, cinematic extreme metal, ABORTED have mastered a dark craft that’s tough to compete with. The Belgian band has been dominating the world of death metal since vocalist Sven de Caluwé formed the band 26 years ago. As the lone original member, he’s directed the band like a demented conductor.

ABORTED are shapeshifters, evolving from blazing deathgrind to groovier fare before settling into a technical approach on death metal.

Their ability to compose and perform an uncompromising mix of death metal and grindcore, complemented with provocative artwork and merchandise designs, has allowed ABORTED to become an essential pioneer of the extreme metal scene over the course of their career, that has seen them release 11 successful full-length albums since the mid-Nineties.

Despite the seemingly sinister image that’s portrayed by the bands wildly heavy, gore-fueled music, ABORTED have actively supported charity campaigns throughout their career. They’ve donated parts of their merchandise income to “National Alliance To End Homelessness”, teamed up with other bands to launch a shirt to benefit the Ukrainian war refugees and have also been a long term member of “Metalheads Against Racism”.

With their latest album ManiaCultABORTED entered the German charts at #33 and US Current Hard Music Albums at #7, while Retrogore charted at #4 of ‘Top New Artists’ on the Billboard Charts and TerrorVision entered the US Billboard Charts at #4 (Heatseeker) and #9 (Current Hard Music). After releasing music and playing worldwide tours for almost 30 years, they still push musical boundaries and managed to endlessly re-invent themselves.

Most recently, the new studio album, Call Of The Wild, entered the album charts at #2 (and staying for 16 weeks in the charts) while the hit single "Dancing With The Dead" went gold and platinum. The Best Of album, Best Of The Blessed, released in 2020, also successfully entered the German charts at #2. POWERWOLF achieved massive success as they headlined large venues with their phenomenal stage performances on the almost completely sold out Wolfsnächte headline tour (2019), as well as numerous summer festival shows in which crowds were thrilled and completely captivated by the wolves and their unique, (un)holy metal mass. Beyond many others, they’ve also headlined Wacken, Masters Of Rock, Summer Breeze – all massive live successes.  Once POWERWOLF performs the new studio album, Call of the Wild, live at Europe’s largest venues on their upcoming Wolfsnächte 2022 headlining tour – and, for the first time ever, at their long-awaited debut North American shows in 2023 – the whole world will be completely under the sign of the wolfpack once again!

Since its formation in 2015 in Baltimore, Maryland, WORMHOLE has been spearheading the tech slam movement, introducing strong melodies, technical prowess, and virtuosity to hard-hitting brutal death metal. In October 2015, and in 2016 WORMHOLE released their aptly titled debut album “Genesis” on Lacerated Enemy Records.

With influences drawn from Necrophagist, Abominable Putridity, and Beyond Creation, WORMHOLE has been described as “monumental” and “monstrous”, with “ferocious slams” that “bludgeon listeners senseless”.

In December 2017, WORMHOLE made their incendiary live debut. In 2018, they partnered with Vulvodynia on a tour of Europe, and in 2019 joined the infamous yearly Tech Trek tour with death metal giants ARCHSPIRE, INFERI, and VIRVUM.

“The Weakest Among Us”, released in January 2020, WORMHOLE is bridging the gap between brutality and virtuosity and pushing the boundaries of what a death metal band can be.

Miranda Lambert Brings "Strange" Performance to ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Tomorrow 10/4

MIRANDA LAMBERT BRINGS “STRANGE” PERFORMANCE TO ABC’S JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE! TOMORROW, OCT. 4

Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas Residency Continues to Thrill Through Second Week

As Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency continues to earn rave reviews through the second week of shows, reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year and current CMA triple-nominee Miranda Lambert returns to the stage at ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! tomorrow, Oct. 4, for a performance of her current single, “Strange.”

The anthem of timely encouragement follows recent Top 10 hit “If I Was A Cowboy,” the 15th of her career, as the second single off Lambert’s latest hit album, Palomino, already named one of the best of the year by TIME, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum and more.

Stereogum describes the track honored with the “Disc of the Day” award from MusicRow as “a bluesy ramble about treating yourself right in an uncertain moment” – a fitting description for a song written by Lambert together with Luke Dick and Natalie Hemby during the height of 2020:

Have a smoke, buy a round
Get on a jet liner going anywhere bound
Pick a string, sing the blues
Dance a hole in your shoes
Do anything to keep you sane
‘Cause times like these make me feel strange

“‘Strange’ is permission to just let go for a sec,” reflects Lambert. “We were really wanting the chorus to lift – literally and emotionally – and go into a happy place. It’s such a song for the time that we’re in right now, but it doesn’t feel like it won’t matter in 10 years, either.”

The single is the latest offering from the L.A. Times’ “Queen of Country Music,” whose 2022 was already packed with accolades even before the kickoff of her Velvet Rodeo residency. Following her ACM Entertainer of the Year win earlier this year, the Texas native was also named as the only country artist on the TIME100 List of the World’s Most Influential People, a distinguished group of individuals honored for their impact, innovation and achievement.

Designed exclusively for Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and promoted by Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment, Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency gives fans an up close and personal opportunity to experience live performances of Lambert’s numerous chart-topping songs and beloved album cuts. Tickets for shows through April 9, 2023 are on sale now at ticketmaster.com/mirandavegas, with shows scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

About Miranda Lambert
Palomino, the eighth solo album from Vanner Records/RCA Nashville superstar Miranda Lambert, arrived in April as the largest female Country album debut of 2022. Already named among the best albums of the year by TIME, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum and more, it marks the latest installment in a storied career that has spanned seven previous No. 1 solo albums, 10 No. 1 hit radio singles, more than 70 prestigious awards and countless sales certifications, earning the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year praise from NPR as “the most riveting country star of her generation.”

With her headlining Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency now underway at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Zappos Theater, the top streaming female Country artist of 2022 was also named to the 2022 TIME100 list honoring the world’s most influential people, with Pitchfork declaring that she “manages the hat-trick of both timelessness and timely activism.” Whether challenging conventional gender notions in her recent Top 10 hit “If I Was A Cowboy” or using her voice to write and record the inclusive “Y’All Means All” anthem for the latest season of Netflix’s “Queer Eye,” the Texas native continues to expand the tent of the Country genre via her music, including current single “Strange.”

In addition to Palomino, the celebrated singer/songwriter’s lauded discography includes Wildcard (2019), The Weight of These Wings (2016), Platinum (2014), Four The Record (2011), Revolution (2009), Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (2007) and Kerosene (2005). She has also released three albums with her trio, the Pistol Annies, as well as 2021’s GRAMMY-nominated The Marfa Tapes, a raw and intimate recording with collaborators Jack Ingram and Jon Randall.

The most decorated artist in the history of the Academy of Country Music, Lambert has earned 38 ACM Awards (including a record-setting nine consecutive Female Artist of the Year Awards), 14 CMA Awards, three GRAMMY Awards, the Nashville Symphony Harmony Award, ACM Gene Weed Milestone Award and ACM Song of the Decade Award, plus was named 2019’s RIAA Artist of the Year and was the youngest artist ever to serve as the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum’s Artist in Residence.

Her clothing and cowboy boot collection, Idyllwind, is a private-label brand sold at all Boot Barn stores nationwide and her home goods collection, Wanda June, is available now at Walmart.com. An avid animal lover, Lambert’s MuttNation pet product line is available exclusively at Tractor Supply Co. with proceeds benefitting her MuttNation Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that has raised over $6 million since its inception in 2009. The Foundation’s mission is to promote the adoption of rescue pets, support animal shelters across the country, advance spay & neuter and assist with the transport of animals during times of natural disaster.

Chronologically speaking, while Graham Brooks falls into the generational social construct known as “the millennial,” in actuality the Barishi guitarist/vocalist is an old soul, wise and talented beyond his years. Sure, he’s got an all-in-one cellular device in his pocket like just about everyone else on the planet, but you’ll rarely find him obsessively staring into it unless necessary. He was scouring used book and record stores for classics long before it was deemed cool by the hipsters of his cohort and when it comes time to actually listening to his vinyl finds – instead of mounting them for show or posting “Look at what I bought” online missives – he prefers lengthy, involved and protracted pieces of music in direct opposition to the quick fixes required to sate the miniscule attention spans of kids these days.

Furthermore, when Brooks’ name comes up in conversation, a soon-to-be classic yarn quickly follows: last year, he was asked to provide a guest spot solo record on Cable’s Take the Stairs to Hell album. Instead of utilizing modern and available technology and facelessly recording and emailing in his contribution, the worryingly tall gentle giant drove five hours non-stop from his home in central Vermont to a Boston recording studio, laid down his solo in a matter of minutes then almost immediately got back in his car and drove the five hours home. Without a hint of self-consciousness or ironic arrogance, he’ll divulge, “I definitely have an interest in old stuff. I guess people would call me an atavist. I like to read about archeology and history and old empires and stuff like that. I remember hearing someone talk about the fleeting nature of smoke and its age throughout time and that seemed interesting to me.”

This is the launch pad for Barishi’s newest album, Old Smoke. The Green Mountain State metallic shape-shifters’ third album roils along with feet in both the distant past and foreseeable future. The record is a fulcrum for the conglomeration and combination of metal from black, progressive, doom and sludge subgenres aligned with a variety of rock musics, including classic, roots, Americana and indie. For Barishi, there are no sonic barriers, no musical borders, everything is welcome and the result of throwing all available ingredients into a melting pot to create a powerful sum of parts. It’s a notion that grizzled urbanites and dichotomous us-against-them thinkers might view as achingly naive or treacherously liberal, but in the alchemical context of novel robustness emerging from the distillation of the best of disparate parts, Old Smoke exists as a beacon of light and strength. This is something Brooks attributes not only to the experience the band has gained since forming in 2010, but also the isolation of growing up as hopeful metalheads in rural Vermont.

As a pre-teen, Brooks’ family moved him to the tiny village of West Dover in order to live and eventually work on the family farm, where he lives and works to this day. While precociously and proudly sporting an Iron Maiden shirt at the grocery store one day, he was spotted by, and became friends with, Dylan Blake and the two joined forces when they ended up at the same high school in town.

“Dylan was known around as a drum wizard, I played guitar and [bassist] John [Kelley] got into metal a little later, but we were always friends so we just started rocking out together and have just stuck with it.

“Early on, we didn’t know anybody or how to get shows until this guy in Burlington started running this thing called Metal Mondays at a club called Nectars, which is the place Phish got their start at,” he says about the band’s primordial age. “That was where we were able to become a little more professional, figure out what we were doing and what we wanted to do. But Vermont’s cool because it’s so isolated and because there’s not a lot to do people come out to metal shows. Some old hippie will come out and have a great time just because that’s what’s happening in town. It’s small enough that there are no scene politics with this genre of kids versus that genre of kids; if there’s a show, people go to it. I think that attitude has allowed us to do our own thing while playing to everybody. Once in a while I’ll talk to somebody from a big city and they’ll mention the woes of trying to play to fans of a certain subgenre and how it never goes over. We don’t really have that in Vermont.”

Originally an instrumental band called Atlatl, the band joined forces with vocalist Sascha Simms and switched to the Barishi moniker in 2012. The then-quartet recorded and self-released a self-titled album in 2013 which caught the eye and ear of the likes of Decibel, Metal Hammer, New Noise, and, most importantly, Season of Mist. Being offered a recording contract slathered the Barishi camp in surprise (“We had done a fair bit of DIY touring, but it wasn’t like we were the big local band or had any buzz at all”) and sparked a growing ambition which begat the band’s 2016 album, Blood from the Lion’s Mouth. Shortly after the debut’s release though, Simms and the band parted ways which put Barishi in a holding pattern for a few months until they decided to stop looking for a replacement and fill the position internally.

“We tried a few other singers until I ended up grabbing the vocal reins. There weren’t hordes of disappointed fans or protesting crowds of Sascha loyalists,” Brooks says with a self-deprecating laugh, “so it made it easier to make the sort of identity change that most bands would worry about. Plus, it was hard to find people willing to give up as much as you have to and put in the work to be in a band.”

Once they traversed the hurdle of Simms’ departure, the now-trio discovered a new side of the band. Now that they didn’t have to concern themselves with what to do with a vocalist during lengthy instrumental parts, the songs got longer, more exploratory, grandiose and epic. Add on to that the fact that Old Smoke was gestated over a three year period and it becomes clear why this album brims with a monumental magnanimity.

“Not having a vocalist meant we could do our thing a little more. This was also the first time we demo-ed things extensively and through that process I was able to get a better perspective on the songs and shape them a little bit more towards something we’d want to listen to. I remember having a conversation with a friend about our shared love of Iron Maiden and one of us said something about Maiden being one of those bands that, when you put on a song, you instantly feel like you’re going on a quest. I thought that was bad ass and really wanted to write songs that could be considered ‘quest-worthy.’ I’d say that was a big thing when we were writing these songs: writing longer songs that went somewhere without making them seem cumbersome.”

Despite the excellence of Old Smoke, Barishi is humble and fully cognizant of their position as low rung on the ladder at Season of Mist, in particular, and in the metal scene, in general. Brooks reveals without hesitation that “I’m still surprised we weren’t dropped after losing a charismatic frontman like Sascha,” and that “We’re still new to and nervous about playing big markets like NYC” despite recent tours with Weedeater and Tombs. But with tracks like the lassoed meandering of awesome album opener “The Silent Circle,” the sinister black metal/noise rock slashing of “The Longhunter” and the sky-opening prog-metal enormity of the title track leading the charge, Old Smoke is set to make an indelible mark on the metal scene; one dripping with passion for the art of progressive song writing, honest creative expression and the hunt for one’s individual voice while paying homage to the well-worn parts of record collections.

“A big goal we have is having the band catch up to our tastes in music. Sometimes people have good taste in music, but what they create doesn’t always reflect the quality of that taste. I like to think I have good taste in music and I think we’re starting to reflect that in the music we make. There are bands we really respect that can write super-long, beautiful songs you can listen to and it sucks if you get interrupted because you want to listen to the whole thing in one shot. We want to have songs like that, songs you look forward to listening to. We also want to have an enjoyable creative process in creating something that sits well with us; to make something that survives the long term and is a fair representation of the stuff we’re into.”

Old Smoke it is, then!

NECRONOMICON Announces Run of Canadian Shows

Canadian blackened death metal horde NECRONOMICON will be performing a run of shows in Quebec and Newfoundland this November! The run kicks off on November 12 in St. John, NF & will conclude in Trois Rivieres, QC on November 19. The full tinerary and ticket links can be found below!

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with 'UNUS', the crushing and cinematic follow up to 2016’s 'Advent of the Human God'. With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; 'UNUS' is no exception to this.

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob "The Witch" in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band have carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac St Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.

'UNUS' is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.

German postpunk icons PINK TURNS BLUE bring October-December tour dates, along with 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP'

"One of the most ethically driven and environmentally conscious post-punk artists of our time... powerful" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Consistent purveyors of quality guitar-laden post punk and dark-bent indie rock... one of the most honest and most direct enduring acts in post punk today" ~ Destroy // Exist

"The timeless message is driven home with a timeless sound composed with refined effect" ~ Post-Punk.com

"They have had high ranks in the charts and still have a place deep in the heart of many fans" ~ Reflections of Darkness

"When it comes to actual darkwave, Berlin’s Pink Turns Blue are rightly regarded as one of the founding acts... one of the finer exemplars of continental postpunk" ~ CVLT Nation

Trailblazing darkwave-postpunk pioneers Pink Turns Blue are at the half-way mark of their long-awaited TAINTED 2022 tour as they cross North America and select cities in the UK, Germany and Spain. Especially for this tour, the trio has also released the 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP'.

Riding on the strength of their 'Tainted' album, released in late 2021 via Orden Records, and on the trail of their recently released single 'Not Gonna Take It', Pink Turns Blue brings this music to fans from one coast to another while also sharing four new songs that reflect their emotional state in today’s world.

Formed in 1985 in the first generation of gothic rock and named after a Hüsker Dü song, today Pink Turns Blue is Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Paul Richter (drums) and Luca Sammuri (bass). Their debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' advanced the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal post-punk album. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of Cold War Germany, they have since released a dozen full-length LPs.

Both the 'Tainted' LP and the new EP relate to a world in havoc and the seemingly powerlessness of today's youth to take over the world and change it for the better. But this album is also a call to never give up, to never lose faith or the understanding that making this world just a bit better every day is what makes our lives worth living.

With potent singles such as 'Not Even Trying', 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me', 'There Must Be So Much More' and 'So Why Not Save The World' address such themes as climate change, its effects, the reaction to it, the split within society, isolation, health risks and financial uncertainty.

“Since Pink Turns Blue presented the ‘Tainted’ album, things have changed for the worse, or have become more desperate and we have used this time to develop a few songs from the ‘Tainted’ sessions further - songs that didn’t make it onto the album since they were not ready yet, says In defiance of the global trend that the powerful use any excuse to enforce their agenda and defend their accumulation of benefices, more and more people see through it and stand up – for themselves and never give up to make this world just a little bit better," says Mic Jogwer.

"Since February 24 (actually my birthday), when Russia invaded Ukraine, things became even worse. Instead of slowly getting back to “normal” and trying to get our humanity’s shit together and to alleviate climate change and the consequential effects, now we have to cope with war and an energy, food and financial crisis (again) with the risk of losing the battle for equality, climate change, peace... you name it. So now the world is not only TAINTED but is in DISARRAY".

The 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP' is out now everywhere online. 2021's 'Tainted' LP is also available via Apple Music and Spotify, with CD and limited-edition vinyl editions available via the band's website. Tour tickets can be ordered at https://pinkturnsblue.com/live-dates.
