KERRY KING's 2024 offering From Hell I Rise was born in the aftermath of SLAYER's final curtain call on November 30, 2019, in the band’s Los Angeles hometown. Now, two years since it's unveiling, the iconic SLAYER songwriter/guitarist celebrates this milestone with the forthcoming offering, From Hell I Rise: Extended Deluxe Edition. The approaching anniversary edition of From Hell I Rise sees the track list include additional demos featuring vocal performances by KERRY KING.

Joining the KING crusade is a lineup that began with SLAYER drummer Paul Bostaph. “Paul's kind of like my [Vinny] Appice to Ronnie James Dio,” KING says. “I knew Paul wanted to be part of this since 2018”. Alongside KING, the role of guitars “went Phil Demmel’s way.” The band is completed by bassist Kyle Sanders (HELLYEAH), and in the much-talked-about vocalist spot, Mark Osegueda (DEATH ANGEL), a friend of KING’s since the early ‘80s Cali thrash days. The lineup kills. From the instrumental entrée “Diablo” into the relentless, repentless “Where I Reign,” to the last cut, the statement-making, full-circle title track “From Hell I Rise,” KING and co. are in full control. Music and lyrics are very intentional, with song topics including war, women’s rights, current American politics…and one-tune inspired by THE SCORPIONS and HELLOWEEN-style riffs. (“That one, ‘Shrapnel,’ was something super-indulgent for me, and it came out really cool,” he says.)

Portland's Wooden Overcoat shares "I Knew You Would', showcasing debut "Hello Sunbeam" EP

Portland psychedelic indie-pop outfit Wooden Overcoat unveils 'I Knew You Would' with its garage-meets-grunge sound, complete with a haunted vocal harmony you didn’t know you needed. The video was created by Italian multi-arts visionary Francesca Bonci, well known for her work with The Dandy Warhols, Tombstones In Their Eyes, Federale (The Brian Jonestown Massacre's Collin Hegna), Pete International Airport and Slowdive's Rachel Goswell.

Wooden Overcoat's recently released debut "Hello Sunbeam" EP is a sweet spot where lo-fi garage psych meets 90s shoegaze, anchored by layered harmonies and an evocatively intimate vocal delivery. Exploring vivid, emotionally resonant themes, this vibrant four-track collection presents a fantastic dreamlike environment for lovers of life.

The sonic brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Brant Hajek, Wooden Overcoat took its name from an old Americana euphemism for a coffin. Hajek’s creative process is personal, having returned to music after a hiatus. What started as a practice in self-production transformed into a deep creative obsession with soundscapes and gear. Recording in a rented basement, Hajek crafted this EP through spontaneous experimentation, propelled forward by sudden bursts of inspiration.

"The lyrics to ‘I Knew You Would’ are more about transcribing emotional impact than saying something meaningful. I wrote it when I was feeling a lot of grief, very uneasy, and it’s about the isolation you can feel going through bouts of depression, even when you have someone very close to you. Thinking about it in hindsight, I feel like I was writing about myself, hurling accusations for not being better, or finding the ability to improve things about myself or the way I was handling stress and grief," says Brant Hajek.

"Recording this EP almost ruined my life, and I hope it sounds like it. Each song is its own little world, in which I lost myself. With childlike wonder, exploring concepts and sounds, I was inspired to make something new each time just to keep the wheel turning. I loved the feeling of momentum, knowing I was creating something out of thin air and maybe grabbing ahold of something slippery and evasive.."

Hajek’s creative process is a deeply personal, layered journey towards the spark that turns an emotionally restless melodies into finished pieces. While he himself performed every instrument on thise EP, Wooden Overcoat is now a full band, bringing these tunes to the stage. With Hajek on guitar and lead vocals, he is joined by bassist Dillon Glusker, guitarist Mac and drummer Brian Levin.

Earlier, Wooden Overcoat released the shimmering lead track "Home" - a reverb-drenched sanctuary, blending in sun-drenched textures and a wash of tape echo and reverb, and "Finally Arrived" with its viscous guitars, slow thudding drums, rhythmic trance-like pulse and dreamy soundscape.  Between mourning and romantic friction, it examines the delicate nature of human connection and tendency to view individuals as replaceable assets. "Heaven Right Now" is a reverb-soaked psych-rock track about hidden emotional fractures, shared suffering, and how people quietly break under pressure.

"This EP was written at a dark time in my life. My mother was diagnosed with cancer, the world was flipped on its head and never really recovered, political turmoil and conflicts overseas dominated the collective conscious, and it profoundly affected me. My relationship was suffering from cumulative stress and I can now see how it came through in what I created. Themes of beauty that doesn’t last, self-sabotage, dissociation, cynicism, and desire for connection but feeling removed from it," says Hajek.

Norwegian "Tundra Rockers" Slomosa Drop Heavy-Hitting KEXP Live Session

Norway’s sludge-fueled groove titans Slomosa have unveiled a blistering five-song live session for Seattle’s KEXP, recorded during the band's first-ever U.S. headlining tour this past April. Known for redefining Desert Rock into what they proudly call “Tundra Rock," the Bergen-based four-piece delivered a raw, hypnotic, and thunderous performance in the legendary KEXP studios.

Reflecting on the KEXP session, the band writes, “[...] we’ve binged down endless hours of KEXP sessions ourselves through the years. So, needless to say, it was a huge honour to be invited to do our own! The KEXP session arrives as the perfect primer for the band’s U.S. fall tour as direct support for Clutch. The three-week tour promises to bring some of the loudest, most groove-driven nights of the year to cities across the country.

After eleven years of albums and global touring, Colorado’s Khemmis have cemented themselves as pillars of modern heavy metal. FLESHCRAWL Release Video For "Chapel of Guts" Alongside New Album 'Epitome of Carnage'

FLESHCRAWL unveil a torrent of ferocious bloodshed, chaos and power in their tenth studio album, Epitome of Carnage, out now via Distortion Music Group (DMG) - Powered by Reigning Phoenix Music. Accompanying the full length release is a rampage of gloom in the new music video for "Chapel of Guts".

On "Chapel of Guts" FLESHCRAWL share, "with 'Chapel of Guts' we wanted to showcase the full spectrum of our sound. This track stands out from our more classic Swedish Death Metal tracks, making it the perfect contrast to the other singles and the album as a whole. It's a short break from the more straight-forward tracks, offering a more dark contrast."

"It digs a bit deeper into the Fleshcrawl roots, combining heavy, doomy passages with intense blast beats and a lot of dynamics. It captures that darker atmosphere we wanted to have on the record. It is Death Metal with a room to breathe and then to choke."

On the writing process the band explain, "We didn't force it into a specific direction; we just let the track develop its own flow and energy during the writing process."

A foreboding darkness awaits in "Chapel of Guts". A haunting, enveloping atmosphere swells and hurriedly subsides as the pace increases and intensity rises. As the heaviness ebbs and flows through chaos, it's ferocious brutality leaves nothing in its wake.

BLOODHUNTER Release New Album 'Sons Of The Abandoned'

Spanish melodic death metal powerhouse BLOODHUNTER have officially released their brand-new studio album “Sons Of The Abandoned” via ROAR - A Division of Reigning Phoenix Music.  

Marking this milestone, the band are not only kicking off a run of Spanish live dates alongside CRYPTA , but are also premiering a brand-new music video for “Masters Of Deceive”, one of the album’s most dynamic and emotionally charged tracks. 

Guitarist Dani Arcos comments: "This song is insane. We mixed guttural and melodic vocals, slow and melodic choruses with the most extreme riffs on the album... and there's even a recorded piano that you only realize has been there the whole time at the end of the song."

Vocalist Diva Satánica adds: "This song includes my very first clean backing vocals in BLOODHUNTER. I really wanted to give it a try because it represented the eternal disappointment of people trying to pull out from me a different version of myself but which I didn’t really feel identified with as a vocalist. This song speaks about toxic environments and how hard is to step out from there to follow your own path. It was the first song that we wrote for this album: it goes from a very dramatic chorus to the most enraged verses, to represent the complex dynamics in a relationship."

Formed in Galicia, BLOODHUNTER have steadily carved their name into the international extreme metal scene through relentless touring, uncompromising sound and a clear artistic vision. Fit For a King Share New Song "Blood Pact" Ahead of Summer Tour With Motionless In White

FIT FOR A KING  — Ryan Kirby, vocals; Bobby Lynge, guitar; Daniel Gailey, guitar; Trey Celaya, drums; and Ryan "Tuck" O'Leary — bass/vocals — dropped their eighth album Lonely God last summer via Solid State Records. Get it here. 

The band returns today with new music in the form of the standalone song "Blood Pact." It's full of piss, phglem, and palpable rage — just as fans like it.

"'Blood Pact' is a song that, unfortunately, has become more relevant as time goes on," explains Kirby. "It's about how the decisions of people in power affect the rest of us. And how as a human race, we face the reality of destruction, even when it's not the majority making the decision."

The song arrives ahead of FFAK's summer tour with Motionless in White, which kicks off July 14 and runs through August 15.

Dirty Heads Release "7 Seas" Album + Share "2 Young" + Summer Tour With 311 Kicks Off Next Month

Southern California's favorite sons, the RIAA Platinum Certified band DIRTY HEADS, are pleased to release their ninth full-length album, 7 Seas, via Better Noise Music. Listen to 7 Seas here.

Today, they serve up "2 YOUNG," which features a duet between singer Duddy and his daughter Sophia Lynn, proving that music is indeed the tie that binds.

"I remember Sophia sitting in a high chair while we were writing 'Lay Me Down,' so to now have her featuring on our album is very special. Her voice was meant for this song," states Duddy.

Sophia Lynn weighs in about the track's heft, saying, "Getting to work with Dirty Heads was such a full circle moment for me. This track is so meaningful, and I'm so grateful to be a part of it. As someone who's just stepping into a new chapter of life after graduating high school, these lyrics really resonate with me. Growing up is exciting, but it can also be confusing, overwhelming, and messy. I hope this song reminds people that at whatever stage in life they're at, it's okay to not have everything figured out."

Earlier this week, DIRTY HEADS gave fans a sneak peek of the album with an intimate Q&A and listening party event at the Honda Lounge at the iHeartRadio Studios in L.A. The listening party and Q&A will be available for fans to watch on VEEPS in celebration of the release.

KOE WETZEL IS THE NIGHT CHAMPION SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM OUT NOW

For a man who's spent the last decade turning chaos into career momentum, embracing the excess and emerging with a clearer view of himself on the other side, The Night Champion arriving via Columbia Records today, June 12, essentializes all of it. The heavy, hard rock songs, the high plains drifts that sail on currents of desolation, regret and frustration and those ballads you’d never expect from someone as hard-charging as Koe Wetzel. “I feel like right now I’m the best version of myself I’ve ever been,” Wetzel marvels. “I survived the night side of me. I’m coming out of it a champion. That’s the essence of this record.”
 
Still, as “Sinner” sears the slow burn opener of The Night Champion, it’s obvious he’s lost none of the edge or the ballast that made him a roughneck favorite long before the torrent of success surged. Through a conversation with the Almighty, God has no trouble telling the singer, “you’re probably gonna do it again.”
 
For all its rough edges, The Night Champion may be Wetzel's most reflective work to date. Whether the bring-on-the-jagged-pain “Hurts Like You,” the seductively obsessive “Magnet,” the lust-driven, reality-check “When I’m Gone” or the hushed requiem for a can’t quit/can’t stay love “I’ll Lock Up,” Wetzel delivers the raw twitch of how it feels across the 11-song project produced by Gabe Simon (9 Lives, Noah Kahan, Lana Del Rey). Beneath the calloused flesh and concrete-seeming heart, there’s a vulnerability slowly emerging as he evolves.
 
“It’s kind of where I am now: an edgy roughness to all of the songs that doesn’t give a f*ck, but there’s a tenderness to it, too. Whatever happens, I’m man enough to deal, but the focus and headspace have shifted; I’ve grown up and become okay with looking back.”
 
That romantic fatality infuses “Dollar and a Bottle,” the muscular meander written with alt-outlaw Nikki Lane, showcasing his signature wanting more while sideswiping the happily ever after with random excess. Factor in additional female collaborators Amy Allen, Carrie K and Steph Jones, as well as vocalist Maggie Antone, and Wetzel may forge a man’s man’s world, but it’s tempered by how women see it. Through the slight dissonance and darkness split by a harmonica and the low-to-the-ground vocal of “Nowhere Fast,” the swerve of living hard is pulled back from the edge with a catalog of the bad deeds and what might be a better end.
 
Whether you were there from the independent jump or got on board during last year’s “High Road” radio rush, The Night Champion is built to offer complexity as it brings his disparate audiences together. It echoes on the muscular “Time Goes On,” weighing what was, what could’ve been and what’s happened since they were kids against an onerous musical tableau, or in the hungers that drive us and the illusions people who love us cling to on the pulverizing truth-tell “The Man.”
 
“I’m not torn between the worlds,” the intense Pittsburg, Texan explains. “This, though, is where all the fans meet. Sitting here now, it’s all happened so fast, it’s kind of a blur, but bringing everyone together, no matter when they got here, this is that moment.”
 
This or Sam Harris of X Ambassadors’ deeply personal “Circus,” the album’s sole outside cut delivered with an emphasis on syncopation and the details. “Sam’s the older cousin who shows up with a really good bottle of whiskey at the picnic and turns you onto some great band or record. He’s just that guy, and he never pitches anything. But when I heard this – that idea of ‘you can’t know what you’re getting into when you sign on’ – I called him and asked if I could cut it.”
 
What Koe Wetzel knows now could fill a library, but he’s still pushing forward. The more he learns, the deeper he wants to dive. “Surrounded” is captured and shook down by memories, while the acoustic “When I Was” owns the damage. More than capturing the wild catting, red dirt piece of mind, there’s that sense that behind wild eyes, there’s much going on.
 
“In a lot of ways, it’s closing a chapter, and opening another one for what’s to come for the next 10, 12 years,” Wetzel says, taking it all in. “Here we go.”

Victor V. Gurbo’s new release, Gurbo & Co. Live 2025, has been a long time coming. Ever since he began playing his music on the streets of New York, Gurbo has dreamed of performing at the historic venues where his idols first made their mark. In January 1961, a 19-year-old Bob Dylan began performing at the now-legendary Cafe Wha?. In November of 2025, Victor brought his electric band to the same stage. It’s undeniable that Gurbo & Co. have tapped into something special here — channeling the energy of the ’60s with an approach that could only exist today. In an anthropological sense, this is a remarkable and deeply considered live document.

Victor V. Gurbo is a folk-rock and roots songwriter, artist, and guitar maker. A homebred Brooklynite and self-described musical anthropologist, he seems to exist outside of time. In speaking and listening to his songs, one could easily place him in the 1960s, while— to quote John Schaefer of NPR’s Soundcheck—“evoking sounds we probably heard in New York City from the late ’20s, early ’30s.” Yet there is something unmistakably contemporary about his presence. Influenced by country and blues pioneers such as Robert Johnson, Howlin’ Wolf, and Hank Williams, as well as songwriting titans like Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, John Prine, and Leonard Cohen, Gurbo carries that lineage forward in a voice distinctly his own.

He has performed at some of New York’s most respected venues — Carnegie Hall, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, NPR’s Greene Space, the Highline Ballroom, and City Winery, among others. His music has been featured in numerous media outlets, including Top 5 Press Radio, The Big Takeover magazine, and NPR.

Historically, Manchester, UK breeds a certain toughness. As a pillar of the 19th century Industrial Revolution in Northern England, factories and warehouses line much of the city's rain-baptized topography. A hardworking lot who shoot straight without apology, its denizens traditionally take an incredible amount of pride in where they come from. Embodying the grit and gusto of Manchester, UK, Guilt Trip bring a blast of homegrown intensity to their hybrid of hardcore and metal. The five piece slide striking melodies in between throat-slitting thrashy riffs and earth-splitting breakdowns. Guilt Trip started to forge a seething signature style without comparison back in 2015. They dropped the Unrelenting Force EP [2016] followed by River of Lies [2019]. The latter spawned "Thin Ice," which reeled in 7.1 million Spotify streams and counting. 2023's Severance marked a turning point. It boasted popular collaborations with LANDMVRKS and Malevolence. KERRANG!hailed their "unique brand of hardcore that sees them delve into elements of thrash, old-school hardcore and fist-pumping metal." Beyond sharing the stage with everyone from Sylosis to While She Sleeps, they lit up festivals, including Download and Hellfest. Attracting Roadrunner Records to their corner, the musicians decamped to StudioOWZ in Clarbeston Wales with producer and engineer Adam "Nolly" Getgood [Periphery] during early 2025 to record their debut LP for Roadrunner Records, Armour Of Angels. They bulldozed the way for the release with the God Forgives EP, which incited the applause of Rock Sound, BLUNT, and CLASH. With Armour Of Angels, they're primed to make Manchester proud as they make a lasting imprint on heavy music.

Modern Metal Supergroup CYHRA Release New Album Requiem For A Pipe Dream And Unveil "Venom In Me" Guitar Playthrough

Swedish melodic metal supergroup CYHRA (Featuring AMARANTHE Co-Founder Jake E and current THE HALO EFFECT, KAMELOT, THE CROWN, and SUBURBAN TRIBE members) celebrates their 10th anniversary year with their fourth studio album Requiem For A Pipe Dream, released via Reigning Phoenix Music. Alongside the arrival of the full-length, CYHRA present the high-powered track "Venom In Me".

"'Venom In Me' isn’t just about a person — it’s about anything that slowly poisons you while you’re trying to survive. About CYHRA
As they approach their 10th anniversary next year, CYHRA have carved out a notable place in the metal scene since their founding in 2016 by Jake E (AMARANTHE Co-Founder) and Jesper Strömblad (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). They were soon joined by drummer Alex Landenburg (KAMELOT, Luca Turilli’s RHAPSODY), guitarist Euge Valovirta (SUBURBAN TRIBE), and bassist Peter Iwers (THE HALO EFFECT, formerly IN FLAMES). Their debut album Letters To Myself was released in 2017 to glowing reviews, catapulting the group to global stages, crowned with a massive North American tour supporting SABATON and KREATOR.
 
Following Iwers’ departure, Valovirta also took over bass duties, and the band released their second album No Halos In Hell in 2019, which blended groovy metal with a poppy flair and featured the hit single "Out Of My Life," amassing about 11 million streams on Spotify. Their success continued with a European tour with BATTLE BEAST, UK dates alongside DELAIN, headline shows in select countries including Finland and Japan, and performances at major festivals like Masters of Rock, Bloodstock Open Air, Sabaton Open Air, and 70,000 Tons of Metal.
 
In 2020, guitarist Marcus Sunesson (RONNIE ATKINS, THE CROWN) joined, expanding the line-up. The pandemic pause allowed the band to craft their third album The Vertigo Trigger, released in 2023. The album’s tour brought them back to Finland to open for SMASH INTO PIECES and to headline shows in early 2024. CYHRA ended the cycle with a Scandinavian tour with EVERGREY, and leading into 2025 and through to 2026 the band began to introduce the new album with a series of single releases. Requiem For A Pipe Dream is out now via Reigning Phoenix Music.

APOSTLE Release New Album A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon Alongside New Music Video for "Exiting The God Hologram"

Metal trio APOSTLE have released their dynamic and emotionally charged new full-length album, A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon, out via Terminus Hate City. Alongside the album’s arrival, the band have also unveiled a new music video for the opening track, "Exiting The God Hologram".

"Exiting The God Hologram" introduces A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon with the approaching rumble of a train passing by at night, a sample recorded from vocalist and guitarist Murice White’s apartment. The track explores the idea that there is no singular “correct” way to experience or move through life. Its lyrics conjure striking imagery of a blood-filled sea splitting in half to reveal two paths, each offering only one view of reality, of “truth.” Musically, the song moves through a progression of sonic heaviness, emotive passages, and expansive textures that set the tone for the record’s deeply introspective journey.

Across six tracks and 27 minutes, A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon finds APOSTLE moving through themes of grief, mortality, internal conflict, oppression, intuition, and eventual healing. The album’s title references Carl Jung’s description of humanity as a “splinter in the infinite deity,” framing the record as an exploration of spiritual duality, loss, and self-examination.

From the personal weight of "Illusion of Loss" to the urgent anger of "Swine", the fractured realities of "Distortions of Light", the instinctual force of "Oscillating Polarities", and the vulnerable, bittersweet closing passage of "At Ease", A Splinter in the Infinite Noumenon presents APOSTLE at their most refined, expansive, and emotionally resonant.
