All that remains are images, emotions, and fragments from our previous existence, mixed in with the thoughts and memories of our human hosts. HELLRIPPER Announces New Album, Launches New Single + Music Video

Scotland's ibex-obsessed blackened thrash bastard of Hades, otherwise known as HELLRIPPER, is pleased to announce that his fourth studio album, 'Coronach,' will be released worldwide on March 27, 2026 via Century Media Records, making it his debut to the label! To celebrate this upcoming offering, HELLRIPPER is now debuting a raucous new black thrash anthem, “Hunderprest,” along with a spirited performance video that was filmed at UK’s Damnation Festival 2025 by Sethpicturesmusic and edited by Jake Ten. HELLRIPPER mastermind, guitarist/vocalist and songwriter James McBain comments on the new single,

"'Hunderprest' hits immediately with a chaotic deluge of dissonance, and is what I felt to be the perfect way to open the album — leaving the listener with no time to prepare. Based on the legend of 'Hunderprest,' or 'dog priest' - the vampire of Melrose Abbey. The sinful chaplain inherited his nickname because of his habit of hunting on horseback with his pack of hounds. After his death, legend says he was buried in the graveyard of Melrose Abbey; and because his spirit could not find peace, he would rise from his grave when night fell to harass the villagers and his former mistress to satisfy his bloodthirst. He was eventually defeated when a group of monks from Melrose Abbey exhumed Hunderprest’s blood-soaked body in broad daylight and set it on fire, throwing the ashes into the wind to be sure that the vampire would no longer be able to torment the town.

"Musically, the track primarily takes influence from a mixture of thrash (Kreator, Merciless, Metallica) and black (Watain, Rotting Christ, Tribulation) metal, with a healthy dose of some more 'atmospheric' d-beat elements from the likes of Oathbreaker and Fall of Efrafa.”

He adds about the album, "'Coronach’ is a personal exploration of Scottish Culture — its music, literature, history & folklore. From Pictish mysteries to Victorian Gothic literature, sinister lore, classic Scottish poetry and modern urban tales, the album tells stories of the country throughout the ages. Inspired by anything and everything from Venom and Mercyful Fate, to Watain and Opeth, to Manic Street Preachers, film scores and traditional Scottish music, the album is a good representation of myself all wrapped up in a nice speed metal package! Quite a bit of experimentation went into this album, and I wanted each track to contain something that I had never done previously. Whether it be the inclusion of a different instrument, or how a song begins, I aimed to offer some element of surprise in each track.

"The album, named after the vocal lament traditionally sung at funerals in the Scottish Highlands, encompasses everything the band is about: mixing modern and old-school influences, past and present storytelling, the dark side of Scottish history and my personal interpretation of it. As always, the writing and recording took place in my home studio, with various other people putting their stamp on a few of the tracks. The album was mixed by myself, and was mastered by Damian Herring at Subterranean Watchtower Studios, and the artwork was done by Adam Burke (Nightjar Illustration). One of the shortest songs that Ponte Del Diavolo has ever written, “Lunga vita alla necrosi” strikes quick. The main riff nods to classic ‘90s black metal amidst amidst the song’s thick post-punk atmosphere. Drawing from both Italian ‘80s hardcore and early 20th-century classics, Erba del Diavolo’s vocals channel dark, compelling sensations.

As the dual bass lines move in deliberate opposition - one distorted and visceral, the other fluid and melodic - a suffocating framework is built that mirrors a mind that’s not searching for an escape but circling into madness.

PONTE DEL DIAVOLO craft a focused blend of doom, black metal, post‐punk, and wave—an aesthetic they call “blackened post‐punk.” Wave‐tinged female vocals anchor the project’s flaming core, supported by an uncommon dual‐bass setup that grounds the rhythmic guitars and a raw, dynamic drum pulse.

The result is an immersive, tension‐driven sound. Following the initial release of three EPs, the band signed to Season of Mist and unveiled their first full-length album, Fire Blades from the Tomb.

After two years on the road - appearing at leading European festivals such as Roadburn and Inferno in support of their debut - Ponte del Diavolo return with “De Venom Natura,” a record that extends and refines their musical boundaries.

While still possessed by a cinematic vision, Unverkalt are throwing back the velvet curtain in favor of the veil. On their upcoming third album and first since signing with Season of Mist, the post-metal luminaries plunge into the darkness that awaits us all. Vocalist Dimitra Kalavrezou remains one of Unverkalt’s unmistakable traits. Her clean singing twists above the band’s fiery new single with all the mystifying beauty of a phoenix from the ashes. But as the first song written for Héréditaire, “Oath Ov Prometheus” reveals a haunting new depth to her voice.

“I encouraged her every day to go further with her vocals.”, Unverkalt’s guitarist and primary composer Themis Ioannou says with an appreciative smile. “But the progression of our music came naturally. We love to experiment with every album. With Héréditaire, we wanted to introduce extreme vocals because they bring out all these heavy feelings. It’s like they’re shaking you awake”.

Poison the Well Announce New Album "Peace In Place" + Share "Thoroughbreds" Video

POISON THE WELL released the definitive album The Opposite of December... A Season of Separation in December 1999 and it went on to become a benchmark of the genre that has inspired a generation of bands. The album was chosen as one of the "15 '90s Metalcore Albums That Still Resonate Today" by Brooklyn Vegan; as one of the "21 Best U.S. Metalcore Albums of All Time" by Kerrang!; as one of the "25 Best Metalcore Albums of All Time" by Loudwire; and as one of the "Top 60 Best Hard Rock Albums of All Time" by Revolver. Its influence is indisputable.

But the band is not content to rest on the laurels of its past achievements, as mighty as those achievements are.

The song boasts all the hallmarks fans have come to know, love, and expect from Poison the Well — introspective lyrics, urgent riffing, massive breakdowns that cause tectonic plates to shift, and soaring melodies.

"Joining Poison the Well at 18 and chasing music shaped how I approach life," says singer Jeffrey Moreira. There Are More of Us, Always is a bold collection that moves between spacious, melodic guitar passages and raucous, swelling climbs. With heartfelt, melodious songwriting, a diverse range of eclectic touches buried within, and eruptions of dense, layered sound, this record delivers wonderfully balanced compositions through raw and personal production.

The project began as a cross-continental art experiment between Woodruff and Torres. What started as a simple exchange of ideas quickly found real shape through collaborative composition and thoughtful arrangement. Early sessions with David Haik helped refine the song structures and drum frameworks, setting the groundwork for what would become Jagged City's striking debut.

"We wrote with pure instinct, just tried to add something new to a genre that we love. As we traded ideas, we took some left turns and incorporated elements that may be unexpected," commented Woodruff.

When it came time to record, scheduling issues led to an inspired change of plans. Urian Hackney joined the project both behind the kit and behind the board, engineering and performing the drum parts that propel the record. In two intense days at The Box studio in Burlington, Vermont, Jake and Urian captured the core of the album with an immediacy and urgency that remain audible in every take.

Carlos recorded bass in Los Angeles alongside longtime musical colleague Michael James (Explosions In The Sky), while Jake added further guitar textures from his home studio, creating layers that thread the compositions together.

This debut is both a statement of intent and an open invitation: Jagged City offer music that rewards close listening and communal experience—an instrumental journey shaped by collaboration and a fierce commitment to feeling. While still post-rock, There Are More of Us, Always utilizes a diverse range of influence, giving a freshness to each uniquely realized track.

"This record is a product of collaboration and love and creativity - we hope it inspires people to be connected and think collaboratively and creatively together. That's the only way forward," concludes Woodruff.

Alkaloid Release Classic New Version of "The Fungi From Yuggoth"

Every show is a very special experience and sometimes even creates an almost magical performance. Such moments are beyond explanation; you just have to be there to believe it or, in a best-case scenario, have them recorded for posterity — as American Metal act Prong have done with their latest live album.
