The Cult of Kariba is both a return and a continuation. The EP expands on Carach Angren’s first album Lammendam by entwining the sinister figure of Kariba within the folk tale of the White Lady. “The Resurrection of Kariba” opens underneath the floor of a church, where a cult gathers to summon the alleged sorceress. An unholy pounding by the duo’s blood-splattered symphonic signature brings Kariba back among the land of the living. Yet her audience of worshipers discover far more than they intended. The song’s ritual unleashes something even more sinister: one of her victims, now awakened with vengeance.

With the upcoming EP The Cult of Kariba, CARACH ANGREN return to the story that first defined their identity. Drawing from historical legends and obscure regional folklore, the band revisits the myth of the White Lady from Schinveld, this time expanding it with a new, sinister figure: Kariba. Inspired by real poems, forgotten theatre plays, and occult symbolism, this EP introduces a hidden cult intent on resurrecting Kariba—a poisoner and alleged witch whose spirit carries a legacy of vengeance. MicroPitching and other effects aren't the only tricks of the trade that are pulled out from under Hooded Menace's cloak. Traditional death-doomers might have been pleasantly surprised by the band covering W.A.S.P., so imagine the delighted screams upon hearing a Top of the Pops' gem like "Save a Prayer" splattered in their signature blood-soaked dread. Lasse's riffs still cement the rock-solid foundation beneath Lachrymose Monuments of Obscuration, but even he was surprised when sculpting its lead single. What should appear from the double bass swirling amidst "Portrait Without a Face" but the moan of a cello. Like an echo from beyond the grave, the cry of strings reappears during the album's grand finale. Former live bassist Antti Poutanen sorrowfully saws as the band marches, gallops then sinks back "Into Haunted Oblivion".

BASTARD CROSS Announce New Album 'Crossripper'
This Halloween, blackened metalpunk band BASTARD CRÖSS will unveil the auditory blasphemy that is their forthcoming album, Crossripper via Morbid and Miserable. The debut full-length as been heavily inspired by horror movies, and draws from religious history notably dark and violent documented events. The music video for the first single and title track is available now.
BASTARD CRÖSS bring "Crossripper" to life through the medium of B-Movie horror. Filled with the harrowing chants of the names of seven demons, aggressive thrash riffs, and shifting dynamics make for a thrilling and gloomy display. The track traverses the heavy weight of slower tempos and sections with a more raucous pace until it reaches its gory end.
About BASTARD CRÖSS:
The blasphemous quartet emerged from the crypts in Philadelphia in the grim winter of 2021, releasing their self-titled EP in the same year. This was followed by a Split with BLACK KNIFE in 2022 (released via JEMS), and 2023 saw the arrival of the Beasts of the Night EP and the Faster than the Devil 2 split (released via Wiseblood Records). The upcoming 2025 offering Crossripper (via Morbid and Miserable), sees the band extend even further into the hellish realms of their extreme sound.
BASTARD CRÖSS' musical influences stem from a menagerie of metallic inspirations from thrash (SLAYER, EXODUS) to black metal (DISSECTION) and punk aggression (ANTI-CIMEX). The band experiment with melodic harmonies layered above loud and dirty riffs. The band's distinctive edge derives in part from the two vocalists who combine influences from early black and death metal.

Earlier this week, DESPISED ICON announced they would join headliner's SANGUISUGABOGG on their U.S. tour. Joining the package as support are DEFEATED SANITY, and CORPSE PILE. Prior to the 22-date trek, the band will make appearances at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival. Scotland's iconic Fini Tribe shares 'We're Interested', previewing epic retrospective album set "The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987" is out October 10
Scotland's iconic 1980s music mavericks Fini Tribe present "We're Interested", the second offering of their colossal retrospective "The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987", following the razor-edged first single “I Want More”. This anthology include the legendary John Peel session from 1985, the original 12” singles (including "Detestimony"), the WaxTrax! singles, and unreleased live tracks - all lovingly remastered and produced by the band's members.
Fini Tribe was born into the cash-poor but culturally-wealthy environs of post-punk Edinburgh in the very early 80s – 1980 to be precise. A tiny three-piece with no drummer would soon swell into a muscular six-piece with inherited or cheaply-purchased instruments. Band members Chris Connelly, Simon McGlynn, Andy McGregor, Davie Miller, Philip Pinsky, and John Vick haunted the cold, damp warrens of the Niddry Street and Blair Street rehearsal rooms, just off the high street in Old Town Edinburgh.
"Actually 'We're Interested" was a watershed moment for the Fini Tribe. Starting with John Vick's plaintive piano melody, it invited each member of the group to bring a melancholy laced with an (almost) pop sensibility to the song... inspired by endless walks, bike rides and other shenanigans on the banks of Edinburgh’s Union Canal, one of the many cryptic landmarks of the city that inspired the band. The song IS Edinburgh, moreso than most: it is the green of the Braid Burn Valley, the dank history of the band’s Niddry Street rehearsal room, the secret lanes of the New Town," says Chris Connelly.
"The version you have here was recorded at BBC Maida Vale studios and produced by Mott the Hoople's Dale Griffin, who was kind enough to lend his ears to the young Finis that amazing spring Sunday in 1985 when they recorded their first John Peel session. The song became a live favourite, and its haunting melody stretches far over the forty years since its conception."
Drawing on the influences of everything from Throbbing Gristle, Wire, Can, Captain Beefheart, and numerous angular funk bands that were spewing out of the John Peel Show at the time, they also drew from the seemingly bottomless well of modern film, writing, and art that was abundant in the festival city.
"The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe" is the band's first retrospective, curated and designed by the band itself. It includes a wealth of archival photographs, an essay by original member Andy McGregor, who also designed the sleeve, and essays by longtime friend Shirley Manson (Garbage, Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie) and author Alastair McKay, an early champion of the band. This release also includes the first legendary John Peel Session, produced by Dale Griffin and originally broadcast in May 1985.
Rehearsing and writing tirelessly between high school and part-time jobs, Fini Tribe played whenever they got the chance: CND benefits, support band for local mentors Visitors and Explode Your Heart, and endless rehearsals turning them into a well-oiled, if frantic, machine. Gigs farther afield were found in London, Glasgow and Aberdeen, and the sound grew as the band became more unique and distanced from their peers and ploughed their own furrow.
A debut self-released EP on their own FINIFLEX label led to a John Peel Session in 1985. Not to let the grass grow under their feet, the band quickly morphed into a formidable experimental dance unit. The arrival of sampling would cement this and 1986’s “Let The Tribe Grow” EP, with the anthemic, church-bell driven “Detestimony”, would become a lasting and iconic statement of intent unbeknownst to the band at that time. Fini Tribe heralded a new sound and new hypervisual approach, more akin to performance art than any straight rock ‘n roll, with a one-off performance at Edinburgh’s prestigious Assembly Rooms: sculpture, film, ritual, new music, and suspended bin bags full of lurid poster paint sprayed a shocked audience. The gauntlet was thrown, covered in paint, and slapped like a wet fish.
"The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe: 1982-1987" was recorded in Edinburgh at Wilf's Planet, Pier House, Niddry Street Rehearsal Rooms, Pleasance Theatre, and Calton Studios, and in London at Southern Studios and at BBC Studios, Maida Vale.
As of September 10,"'We're Interested" is out everywhere, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where 'I Want More' is already available. The full album, released on October 10 via Shipwrecked Industries, is available as a three-CD digipak with 24-page booklet, as a vinyl LP in a gatefold sleeve with insert, and digitally.

UK Metal Trio URNE Announces New Studio Album 'Setting Fire To The Sky' Due for Release on January 30th 2026 via Spinefarm
The London modern metal band URNE, – Joe Nally (bass, vocals), Angus Neyra(guitar) and James Cook (drums) – are proud to announce their new studio album, 'Setting Fire To The Sky,' due for release on January 30, 2026, via Spinefarm.
The announcement is paired with the release of their new single, "Be Not Dismayed," which is an invitation for younger fans not to be intimidated by the big blokes, battle jackets, and patches crowding around them at gigs and festivals. The new single arrives accompanied by a music video, available below.
Bassist/vocalist Joe Nally comments on the track:
“I wrote the lyrics to ‘Be Not Dismayed’ after spending a few summers playing some of the best metal festivals around and seeing the buzz that fans would have by being there. On people’s faces, you could see they were experiencing pure elation, and I guess it took me back to that feeling I used to have going to shows. I clearly remember the feeling I had when I went to see Slayer for the first time at the London Astoria. I went through it all. In the end, it was the moment that set me on a path to where I am now.”

Produced by SikTh co-vocalist Justin Hill, mixed by Johann Meyer (Silvercord Studio), mastered by Tony Lindstrom at Fascination Street Studio and scheduled for release on January 30th 2026 via Spinefarm, 'Setting Fire To The Sky' whips up a firestorm of grit, swagger and grandiosity.
Snarling hardcore, extreme inflections, and a strong sense of heavy metal’s inherent classicism all burn together within URNE’s burial chamber, propelling the band forward. “I feel like I'm in Metallica in 1988 with what we do,” says Nally.
URNE has enlisted Kurtis Bagley as second guitarist to the live band. Kurtis will make his live debut at URNE’s sold-out London show at Camden Assembly and features in the "Be Not Dismayed" video.
Guesting on the record, you’ll hear innovative cellist Jo Quail appear as part of melancholy album closer "Breathe" whilst the nine-minute-plus undulating epic, "Harken The Waves,"released as a single earlier this year, features guest vocals from Mastodon’s Troy Sanders.

“The artwork for the last album was so dark, this time around we wanted to go in the complete opposite direction. I had never worked with a real artist before, but I had a clear idea of what I wanted, and Dan Zollinger has done more than capture that. German symphonic metal band BEYOND THE BLACK have become one of the most exciting forces in modern symphonic metal, carving an impressive path since their formation. Schmitty Signs with The Neal Agency
As Midwest native and Warner Chappell Music singer-songwriter Schmitty prepares to release his debut six-song EP, Office With A View, available everywhere this Friday, he’s signed with The Neal Agency (TNA) for booking.
"I couldn’t think of a better home for my booking than The Neal Agency. Jake, Ryan, and the team feel like family and share the same values I grew up with back home in the Midwest,” shares Schmitty. “With a roster that looks like my playlist and a winning culture all around, it’s a dream come true. Office With A View blends Schmitty’s wild child spirit and the down-home morals that shaped him during his years growing up and working on his family farm in Washburn, North Dakota, along the rural banks of the Missouri River. Inspired early on by stories of his paternal grandpa’s Hall of Fame barbershop quartet, The Schmitt Brothers, he was taught his first guitar chords at 13 by a bluegrass-picking neighbor, he recalls: “That’s where the music bug bit me.”
Leaving behind his tractor seat as a third-generation grain farmer to chase his dream in Nashville, Schmitty draws from the influences his family instilled - The Eagles to The Allman Brothers - while shaping his own jam-band storyteller aura.
Heartfelt lyrics and candid honesty have elevated his social media presence, with one YouTube share sparking millions in conversation - affirming his belief that God truly put him on this earth to create music. Pulling from his own journey - the highs, lows and lessons learned - he writes with a grounded authenticity that connects heart to heart with listeners.
With previously released songs like “Cadillac,” “This Side of the Porchlight,” and debut album title track “Office With A View,” Schmitty keeps one foot planted firmly in the dirt that raised him while building a foundation for what’s ahead. With new music on the horizon and a growing calendar of shows, Schmitty is represented by Warner Chappell’s Jessi Stevenson for publishing and Fusion Music’s Dylan McGraw and Daniel Miller for management.

COLD SLITHER Announce NYC Show
