NEONFLY Announces Live EP and Presents Music Video for "Highways to Nowhere"!

UK alternative metal act NEONFLY has announced the release of the band's upcoming live EP Master Tapes - 10 Years Live at Masters of Rock, set to be released on June 19 via Noble Demon.

Having graced the festival for the 4th time in ten years back in 2022, this digital EP commemorates their decade-long journey since their first captivating performance on the international stage. Masters of Rock festival holds a special place in NEONFLY's hearts as it provided them with a crucial platform that kick-started the band's global presence. With each performance, NEONFLY has established a profound connection with their fans and the festival community, culminating in this special EP that commemorates their decade-long adventure at Masters Of Rock festival from humble beginnings to the here and now.

NEONFLY comments: "Our journey with Masters of Rock began in 2012 when we played to a packed second stage, winning the hearts and minds of everyone present. This led to us returning the following year and being promoted to an early afternoon slot on the Main Stage. Since then, the Czech fans, and especially those at Masters of Rock, have always held a special place in our hearts. Playing there feels like coming home, and we wanted to show our gratitude to all the fans who rocked out with us over the years, as well as to the fantastic team at Pragokoncert for their unwavering support."

Our first live recording dates back to our Main Stage debut in 2013, where we premiered the yet-to-be-released track "Heart of the Sun," later featured on our second album. The live version has been remixed and remastered for this release. In 2015, we returned for another epic Main Stage performance, proving that Neonfly was here to stay and a force to be reckoned with. That show also marked the debut of our visually captivating fire-breathing act, performed by guitarist Frederick Thunder, which has since then become a festival staple for us. Two tracks are taken from that show, "A Gift to Remember" and "Morning Star."

"'Although we performed at Metalfest 2017, also organized by Pragokoncert, it took seven years for us to return to Masters of Rock. Originally scheduled for 2020, the pandemic put our plans on hold until 2022, turning our return into a special moment, marking our 10-year 'MORversary.' "Highways to Nowhere" and "This World is Burning" are taken from that show, with their respective videos edited by Frederick Thunder."

Watch the music video for the first single "Highways to Nowhere", which the band performed at the Masters of Rock Festival 2022:

Guitarist Frederick Thunder about the track: "‘Highways to Nowhere’ has been a staple in our setlist since our second album ‘Strangers in Paradise’ came out. It’s really punchy and straight-forward, and it’s a great song to start the set with a bang and set the tone for the rest of the show. Even after all these years, the song only seems to have grown in popularity as evidenced by the number of people who request it and the way it’s positioned itself as one of our most popular songs on streaming platforms. It seemed like a great option as the starting track of our EP to celebrate what Neonfly is all about live."

NEONFLY Premiere Lyric Video for "Steal The World" and Celebrate Release of Brand New Album! "The Future, Tonight" out now on Noble Demon

"Loud, fast, lively and honest!"

Metal Hammer

"This is how Melodic Metal should sound in 2021!"

Hardline Magazin

UK's alternative metal act NEONFLY celebrates the release of their brand new album, The Future, Tonight, out now on Noble Demon! With their third full-length, the band has taken an aggressively modern sound and approach that reflects NEONFLY's musical maturity and evolution: ten modern rock anthems, heavy yet catchy allied with hard-hitting riffs, big metal grooves and decidedly socially conscious lyrics. While The Future, Tonight marks a departure from the band's more traditional metal roots, NEONFLY presents us a new, addictive sound that is both musically enthralling and artistically engaging. The Future, Tonight was produced by Grammy award nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Motörhead), with keyboards and orchestra arranged by Miro Rodenberg (Avantasia, Kamelot).

In support of their new album and to celebrate the release in glorious style, NEONFLY just shared a crushing, new lyric video for the song "Steal The World", featuring a guest appearance by Heart of a Coward's Kaan Tasan!

Watch the brand new NEONFLY video here

"Steal the world is a track that again showcases our moves into new musical territories, pushing a much more contemporary and aggressive sound for the band with our own trademark always socially conscious lyrics." vocalist Willy Norton comments. "We invited Kaan from Heart of a Coward to do some guest vocals on this, he’s a great friend and a fantastic singer, and his performance brings a lot of power and attitude to the track. The song is about the way everyone nowadays -from celebrities to your next door neighbour- can go online to express all sorts of false ideas, beliefs, lies, conspiracy theories, either on purpose to exploit people, or simply out of sheer ignorance. The lyrics are written from the perspective of a very cynical individual who deliberately preaches online falsehoods to wreak havoc in general, exploit the vulnerable and cause serious harm in the real world."

NEONFLY Release Brand New Lyric Video for "Beating Hearts"! "The Future, Tonight" to be Released June 18th on Noble Demon

For the stunning album artwork of The Future, TonightNeonfly collaborated with renowned Korean artist NOMA (Noh Gyeong Hwan), whose artistic vision is perfectly in tune with the band’s. The video for "Beating Hearts" gives an intimate insight into the world of NOMA, showing him painting the portraits of each band member in his own distinctive style.

The album artwork, as well as the portraits of the band members, form part of NOMA’s "21st Century Mona Lisa" collection, who explains the idea behind it in the following statement:

"We are one of the many organisms that coexist in this modern era. However, we are potentially just one of the many 21st century’s expandable products that may disappear at any time. We live in a rapidly changing digital era, locked within an ever-repeating media reality that turns on and off under their direction. It is like being a lifeless pixel on a TV screen, essentially becoming one of the many tools that are used to shape and create the future. We always hide our feelings and goals from some unknown enemy who could appear at any time. Our crooked desires, greed, and the accompanying cries of injustice are hidden behind the veil of a warm and happy face, expressing itself only in a way of our choosing. But even when our hidden emotions are exposed, we choose to suppress and deny them, choosing instead to lock them up in a snare of reality. It is as if we were a machine, calculating the right words to say and expressions to reveal, never acknowledging or expressing our true feelings. Unlike how the warm smile of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa from the 15th century reflects suppression, I choose to freely express our repressed and restrained desires. That might just be the self-portrait of the 21st century that we are living in."

Formed in 2008 as the brainchild of guitarist & composer Frederick Thunder and with two critically acclaimed albums under their belt, Neonfly have carved a dynamic and distinctive career, touring as main support for some of rock’s biggest names, including Alice Cooper, Dragonforce, Anvil, Gamma Ray & Magnum and storming festival main stages worldwide. Their highly anticipated third album The Future, Tonight, featuring 10 heavy-yet-catchy modern rock anthems, allied with hard-hitting riffs, big-metal grooves and decidedly socially conscious lyrics, drops June 18th on Noble Demon.

Today, coming in the wake of the release of the album’s epic title track (listen HERE), the four-piece unleash a lyric video for new single "Beating Hearts". The track demonstrates the musical variety of the new album with a gospel-tinged, rock orientated anthem & hook laden chorus. It’s “a song about not being afraid of being yourself, and not having to justify yourself for being different” as guitarist Frederick Thunder states. "It’s a song about following your heart and accepting your choices, regardless of what certain religious groups, social conventions or other people might dictate. It’s a song about passion, that celebrates alternative culture in all its manifestations: music, art, lifestyle, community… and it’s a song about overcoming any personal doubts you might have, and finding harmony within yourself."

June 18th 2021 will see UK metallers Neonfly release their hotly anticipated album, titled The Future, Tonight, via Germany's up and coming metal institution, Noble Demon.

Neonfly, formed in 2008 as the brainchild of guitarist and composer Frederick Thunder, took the heavy music scene by storm, releasing two highly acclaimed full-length records and an unforgettable debut EP to date. The four-piece have played countless tours with acts such as Sonata ArcticaDragonforceEpica and Alice Cooper to name just a few, and appeared at a raft of prestigious festivals notably DownloadBloodstock and Masters Of Rock. On their upcoming third album, Neonfly shows no signs of slowing down: The Future, Tonight not only features 10 modern rock anthems, heavy yet catchy allied with hard-hitting riffs, big metal grooves and decidedly socially conscious lyrics, but also signposts a new musical direction and a new creative era for the band, as guitarist Frederick Thunder states:

"We’ve evolved a lot since our last album, and it was extremely important for us to move forward both musically and artistically, and to create something unique and contemporary that would define Neonfly’s sound and stand out from everything else out there."

To follow up these words with actions, today Neonfly unleash a brand new video clip for the album title track! With a guest appearance by none other than legendary Björn Strid of the mighty SOILWORK, who has nothing but praise for the band: "I really enjoyed recording vocals for this song. Great players with tons of hooks and melancholic melodies. The song has some pretty unexpected turns as well and is just as epic as it rocks."

The Future, Tonight is a deeply powerful piece of music with a compelling message, dealing with the serious issues of mental health, depression, and addiction - Issues the band care deeply about.

"In the video we wanted to show this metaphorically by having the 4 band members blindfolded and tied to chairs in front of an interrogator who is abusing them psychologically and threatening them with physical violence" the band explains and continues: The interrogator represents mental health and depression issues, while the band members struggling and trying to stand up to him, represent the inner struggle that people have against those demons. In the video, we wanted to include this as part of a wider narrative, shot cinematically like a short movie. Towards the end of the video, there is a plot twist, as we see the interrogator blindfolded sitting on a chair on his own, and replaying the previous sequence entirely on his own, implying that he’d been the one sitting alone all this time struggling with his inner demons."

Furthermore Frederick Thunder adds:
“‘The Future, Tonight’ is one of my favourite tracks on the album. I think it really showcases where we are at today. The song is a perfect example of that, and we are truly honoured to have Björn “Speed” Strid -an artist that I deeply respect and admire- as a guest singer on the track. It’s also a testament to our commitment to keep moving forward and finding new and exciting forms of artistic expression."

"The Future, Tonight" was produced by Grammy award nominated producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Motörhead), with keyboards and orchestra arranged by Miro Rodenberg (Avantasia, Kamelot).

The stunning album artwork has been painted by Korean artist Gyeong Hwan Noh “Noma”.
