NEW DOCUMENTARY THE BALLAD OF JUDAS PRIEST IN PRODUCTION FROM SONY MUSIC VISION

Sony Music Vision, in association with Sony Music Entertainment UK and Epic Records, today announced the production of The Ballad of Judas Priest, a new documentary about legendary GRAMMY-winning English heavy metal band Judas Priest and their epic journey to the top of rock and roll.

Co-directed by documentary filmmaker Sam Dunn and Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello in his directorial debut, the documentary will celebrate the legendary band’s lasting impact on music and culture with their influence reaching far beyond metal. Featuring unforgettable anthems and pop culture staples like “Breaking the Law” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Coming,” The Ballad of Judas Priest will capture the passion, resilience and enduring legacy of a band whose music and story continue to inspire generations.

Rising from humble, working-class roots in Birmingham, UK, to become global rock legends, Judas Priest didn’t just help shape heavy metal culture – they forged it. Widely credited as being one of the pioneers of the Heavy Metal genre in the 1970s, Judas Priest has sold more than 50 million records and released 19 studio albums for their legion of dedicated fans around the world. In 2022, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With their 2024 album “Invincible Shield,” the band became the first heavy metal band to release studio albums 50 years apart. The album drew widespread acclaim, receiving a GRAMMY nomination for Best Metal Performance. This fall, they will be joined by Alice Cooper for a co-headlining tour across 22 North American cities.

Judas Priest said, “We have lived and breathed metal for over five decades, and finally in this documentary we are summoning our congregation to officially witness our lives uncensored, in a never-before-seen way…the cassock comes off, revealing Priest in all its metal glory!”

“While some may know Judas Priest for their huge hits that have shaped the heavy metal genre, there is so much more to their story,” co-directors Morello and Dunn said. “Tracing their incredible 50-year journey, this film will capture how Judas Priest both defined the sound and look of metal, but also made it a more inclusive place along the way. We are grateful to the band for allowing us such intimate, unfiltered access to their lives and look forward to bringing this film to the metal masses around the world.”

The documentary is a production of Banger Films and directed by Sam Dunn and Tom Morello. Producers include Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn. It is executive produced by Tom Morello, Rick Krim, Sheila Stepanek, and Jayne Andrews. Tom Mackay, Krista Wegener and Abby Davis serve as executive producers for Sony Music Vision. Sylvia Rhone is executive producer for Epic Records. The film is presented and distributed by Sony Music Vision.

THE HELLACOPTERS | Release Documentary 'Let's Talk Grande Rock Revisited'

Swedish high energy rock 'n' roll legends The Hellacopters have released a documentary called 'Let's Talk Grande Rock Revisited' in which they share interesting background information on the double album Grande Rock Revisited that's out today via Nuclear Blast Records

The insightful clip directed by Emil Klinta shows original members Nicke, Robert, Boba, and Dregen talk about the idea behind the revisited version of their classic record Grande Rock from 1999, and why they decided to release this new version as a double album.

Hailed by many Hellacopters fans as one of the band's best albums, Grande Rock hasn't been available to purchase on vinyl for over 20 years. This new edition of Grande Rock is available as 2LP, 2CD, and digital edition, all of which contain both the remastered original album as well as a revisited and remixed version with additional guitars by Dregen, plus additional percussion and piano and new backing vocal tracks. Just like the original release back in 1999, the vinyl edition exclusively features the Venom cover 'Angel Dust' as a bonus track.

-DIGITAL ALBUM
(the digital album has a reversed order with Grand Rock Revisited followed by Grande Rock (remastered))

Swedish high energy rock and roll band The Hellacopters released their eighth studio album titled Eyes Of Oblivion on April 1st, 2022. It marked the first full-length since the release of their temporary farewell record Head Off in 2008, and was met with massive acclaim from fans and media alike. Charting #1 in Sweden, #3 in Germany, #6 in Finland, the band celebrated a triumphant return culminating in a show with the mighty Iron Maiden in Gothenburg in July 2022, and gigs with Ghost in Germany in June 2023.

On February 16th, 2024 they will now release not one, but two stunning versions of their classic Grande Rock album. Entitled Grande Rock Revisited it has been remastered by Henke Jonsson, and furthermore has been completely remixed by Michael Ilbert at Hansa Studios, Berlin using the original multi-track tapes and reanimated with a whole lot of additional layers of rock! The result showcases how the record could have sounded in a parallel universe with Dregen being in the band at the time, and with a more balanced mix, something the band had been pondering about for quite a while. “We all love loud guitars”, Nicke explains, “but not at the expense of drums and bass, which is pretty much the gist of the original mix. It’s ALL guitars”. So whether you do not want to spend way over 100 Euro for one of the rare original LPs or are excited to hear a revamped, re-rocked new mix of Grande RockGrande Rock Revisited gives you both plus a double-album-cover design by singer/guitarist Nicke added as visual treat on top. The Hellacopters make Rock Grande again!

Of the film, Reel News Daily wrote:  “This film stunned me from the first frames.  I expected to like it, but I never expected to fall madly in love with the film and the man.  This is truly one of the best music docs I’ve seen.  I can’t recommend this film enough.”

“DIO: Dreamers Never Die” delves deep into the singer’s incredible rise from a ‘50s doo-wop crooner to his early rock days in Elf and Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow, to replacing Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath, and finally cementing his rock star status with his own band, DIO. The film incorporates never-before-seen footage and personal photos, as well as offering intimate scenes with his closest peers, family, and friends, among them Wendy Dio, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Glenn Hughes, Vinny Appice, Lita Ford, Rob Halford, Sebastian Bach, Eddie Trunk, and Jack Black, as they bring viewers inside the life of one of rock and roll’s true heroes and most beloved figures.

Dio’s widow and longtime manager, Wendy Dio, who executive produced the film, commented:  “I wanted this documentary to be authentic, for the fans to see the roller coaster ride that was Ronnie's life—the good times, the bad times and everything in between, especially including events that even the most diehard fans would not have known about.  It’s all in there, right up to the very end.”

In addition to SXSW, the film was showcased at the Hot Docs Festival in Toronto, IFF Boston, DocsLisboa International Film Festival, the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival in Korea, the Athens International Film & Video Festival and Gimme Shelter Film Festival in Athens, Greece.  Last October, it won the Audience Award at the In-Edit International Music Documentary Film Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

Fully authorized by the artist’s estate, “DIO: Dreamers Never Die” was directed by Don Argott and Demian Fenton (Framing John DeLorean, Believer, Last Days Here), produced by Don Argott and Sheena Joyce for 9.14 Pictures, and executive produced by Wendy Dio for Niji Productions and Kathy Rivkin Daum for BMG.

Ronnie James Dio, who died of gastric cancer in 2010, reigns as one of the most influential rock artists of all time and one of the greatest vocalists ever. With an illustrious recording career spanning from the 1950’s through to the 2000’s, the documentary follows his trajectory from sideman into singer, songwriter and frontman of not one, but three, of rock’s internationally-renowned, multi-Platinum-selling arena attractions: Rainbow, Black Sabbath and DIO. Famous for popularizing the ‘devil horns’ hand gesture that is now synonymous with hard rock and heavy metal music, Dio was known for not wavering in his pursuit of his rock and roll dreams and continues to influence a new generation of music artists.  His fans the world over remember him not only for his massive talent, but for his kindness, resulting in millions of dollars raised for cancer research in his memory via the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.

Argott and Fenton said, "People who have conviction, talent and heart like Ronnie James Dio are in short supply these days. It is refreshing to share his inspiring story of believing in yourself and chasing your dreams. As life-long DIO fans, it is incredibly humbling to bring Ronnie’s journey to the screen, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences."

SHUDDER ACQUIRES AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY THIS IS GWAR

June 14, 2022 – Shudder, AMC Network's premium streaming service for horror, thriller, and the supernatural, has acquired rights to the documentary. This is GWAR, which gives rare insight into the 30-plus year career of one of the world's most outrageous heavy metal bands, GWAR, known for their grotesque costumed characters and notoriously wild, fluid-soaked stage shows. The film, which world premiered at Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX, and won the 2021 Audience Award at NIGHTSTREAM, will be available exclusively on Shudder in the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand on Thursday, July 21.

"For more than three decades, GWAR has set the standard for heavy metal horror with larger-than-life personas and gore-filled stage shows that were unlike anything anyone had ever seen,” said Shudder General Manager Craig Engler.  “But even their most ardent fans have never seen them like this, as the band and director Scott Barber reveal in moving detail the literal blood, sweat and tears that have made GWAR the true legends they are today."

Added GWAR, "GWAR is founded on horror, humor, and heavy metal. Of course, we love Shudder! It's our favorite. Every movie is like a home movie for us. Are you kidding me?? Monsters, demons, the undead, dinosaurs? Those are our people! GWAR and Shudder. Two terrifying tastes that taste terrifying together."

This is GWAR is the powerful story of the iconic heavy metal art collective, as told by the humans who have fought to keep it alive for over thirty years. The feature documentary includes interviews with the band members, both past and present, and other artists, including Weird Al Yankovic, Thomas Lennon, Alex Winter, Bam Margera, and Ethan Embry, including never seen footage of legendary GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (Oderus Urungus).

This is GWAR is directed by Scott Barber (Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story), with producers Tommy Avallone (Bill Murray Stories) and Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/94). Executive Producers include Bill Parks, Zach Blair, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor.

The deal was negotiated by Josh Goldbloom on behalf of the filmmakers, and Emily Gotto, VP, Global Acquisitions & Co-Productions on behalf of Shudder.

About GWAR

The story of GWAR is carved across the history of this hopeless planet, but GWAR themselves are not of this world…Their story begins far past Uranus, in the deepest reaches of space, where the beings known as GWAR were warriors in the Scumdogs of the Universe, an elite fighting force in the army of the Master of All Reality. But GWAR proved too reckless and powerful, and after a series of tragic but hilarious blunders, they were banished to the furthest reaches of the galaxy, with orders to conquer an insignificant backwater prehistoric mudball known as the planet Earth. Once here, GWAR, the original Ancient Aliens, shaped the face of the globe, wiping out the dinosaurs, and mating with apes to create the human race. Having accidentally given rise to all human history, the Master of All Reality froze them in Antarctic ice where they could do no more harm. It was there they were discovered by a shady entrepreneur known as Sleazy P Martini, who sat the band down in front of professional wrestling, late-night horror movies, heavy metal music, and a steady diet of crack cocaine until GWAR became the cultural force they are today!

Triumph: Rock & Roll Machine, produced by Banger Films (Alice Cooper, Iron Maiden, Rush and ZZ Top), delivers on revisiting a band that sold millions of albums, played for millions of fans, and never put themselves above their audience.

The Triumph story was compelling to me, Marc, and the Banger team because it was an opportunity to piece together a broken puzzle,” says Sam Dunn (who co directed the film with Marc Ricciardelli). “We wanted to know how and why the band dissolved at the peak of their powers. It was quite the ride!”

"Triumph lays it all on the line in this endlessly fascinating documentary, in turn cementing their legacy as a tireless Canadian rock trio whose galvanizing magic power -- as evidenced on both the live stage and within the grooves of their many brilliant albums -- could simply not be contained. Triumph's ongoing, lasting musical impact resides well beyond their native border." --Mike Mettler, Sound & Vision Magazine

Sam and Marc did an outstanding job documenting what it has been like to have been aboard the Triumph train for the past near-50 years,” raves Triumph bassist Mike Levine. “For fans old, new, and those to come in the future, this is all they’ll need to know about the band.

The Triumph line-up – Rik Emmett, Gil Moore, and Mike Levine – rocked the world, and in the process, gave us countless classic hard rock anthems (“Fight the Good Fight,” “Hold On,” “Magic Power,” “I Live for the Weekend,” “Lay It On the Line,” and of course, “Rock & Roll Machine,” and albums (Just a Game, Progressions of Power, Allied Forces, Never Surrender, Thunder Seven, etc.).

Originally formed in 1975 and hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, the trio was always proud of their Great White North roots. And seemingly ever since their inception, Triumph was on the cutting edge of technology when it came to their live show – particularly lighting, sound, and effects. Sophisticated lasers, pyrotechnics and moving lighting rigs, all computer-controlled – Triumph was one of the first arena rock bands to incorporate all of these elements into their shows. Triumph’s headlining tours were legendary, and the band was featured on many memorable stadium/outdoor shows – including the US Festival, the World Series of Rock, the American Rock Festival, Texxas Jam, and Day on the Green, to name a few.

One of the best music documentaries I’ve ever seen, ‘Rock & Roll Machine’ is a superbly crafted documentary - an in-depth look at a band that makes me proud to be Canadian…a true TRIUMPH of a story!

Nashville Celebrates Premiere of LOVE, TOM Documentary with Tom Douglas and Tim McGraw Q&A

NASHVILLE CELEBRATES PREMIERE OF LOVE, TOM DOCUMENTARY

Legendary Songwriter Tom Douglas Joined by Tim McGraw for Q&A Following Film Screening

Love, Tom Premieres Exclusively on Paramount+ Thursday, Feb. 24

On Tuesday, February 15, the Nashville community gathered to celebrate the premiere of Love, Tom – a film from legendary songwriter Tom Douglas. The film premiered at the Regal Green Hills Theater, with Douglas joined by friend and co-writer Tim McGraw for a Q&A after the viewing.

During the Q&A McGraw remarked “There’s been plenty of songs in my career – and most of them you have written – that I don’t really even feel like it’s my song. I feel like I’m just the vessel that it comes through, and the song’s really for everyone else. As a songwriter and a singer, that’s what you try to do. You try to open up a door for people to walk through and express themselves.”

From executive producers Tom Douglas, Tommy Douglas, Austin Fish, Jason Owen and Michael Lennox, Love, Tom is produced in association with Sandbox Productions in partnership with Sony Music Entertainment’s Premium Content Division. The film will release exclusively on Paramount+ on Thursday, Feb. 24.

Over the course of a single night in Nashville, the GRAMMY, Oscar and Golden Globe nominated songwriter Tom Douglas narrates a letter of hope to a desperate world. Unflinchingly honest and personal, Douglas peels back the curtain of the creative process, revealing his own past hardships and the struggle of the creative endeavor, ultimately reminding us that you can never give up on something that you love.

Last night, Douglas expressed what the journey to this film means to him in conversation with McGraw stating, “The thing that attracts me to stories is the brokenness. I want to know how you overcome failure. I want to know what you do in the desperate times. That’s what I wanted to show. You know, the struggle is really evidence that you’re probably on the right path.”

About Tom Douglas
Tom Douglas is an Academy Award, Golden Globe and GRAMMY-nominated songwriter. After enjoying a 13-year career in commercial real estate, Douglas got his first song recorded by Collin Raye at the age of 41. That song, “Little Rock”, reached No. 1, earned a nomination for CMA Song of the Year and achieved the Million-Air award from BMI for receiving one million spins on country radio. Since then, Douglas has written numerous number one hits, including: “I Run to You” (Lady A), “Southern Voice” (Tim McGraw) and “The House That Built Me” (Miranda Lambert). The GRAMMY Award-winning song “The House That Built Me” remained at No. 1 on the Billboard charts for four weeks and earned ACM’s first ever Song of the Decade award.

Douglas has written countless well-received songs for a wide range of artists, including: Keith Urban, P!nk, Luke Bryan, Celine Dion, Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Florida Georgia Line, Kenny Chesney, Kane Brown, George Strait, Chris Janson and Collin Raye, among others. In 2011 Douglas’ song “Coming Home” received an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song. In 2014, Douglas was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, subsequently receiving a GRAMMY Nomination for his song “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” recorded by Tim McGraw. Some of Douglas’ recent work includes “Drunk Girl” recorded by Chris Janson, which received the 2018 MusicRow Award for Song of The Year. He also penned the song “Dear Hate” recorded by Maren Morris and Vince Gill, earning the GRAMMY nomination for the 2019 Country Song of the Year. Douglas is currently signed to Sony Music Publishing, and lives in Nashville with his wife, Katie.

TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” FEATURE DOC MAKES ITS WORLD PREMIERE AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH

“TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” FEATURE DOC MAKES ITS WORLD PREMIERE AT THE TORONTO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10TH

INTERNATIONAL RIGHTS HANDLED BY WAZABI FILMS

Banger Films, in association with Revolver Films, is proud to announce its latest feature, “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE,” will make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Directed by Banger Films’ Sam Dunn and Marc Ricciardelli, the documentary chronicles the career of the multi-gold and platinum-selling power rock band, Triumph, and is produced by Banger Films in association with Revolver Films, Bell Media’s Crave, Live Nation Productions, NBC Universal Canada, Slaight Communications Inc. and the Rogers Documentary Fund. “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” will be released in Canada by Bell Media with international distribution rights represented by WaZabi Films.

Before Drake and The Weekend, there was a different set of Toronto musicians who rule the roost. Known simply as Triumph, this rock trio—which includes drummer/singer Gil Moore, singer/guitarist Rik Emmett, and bassist/keyboardist Mike Levine—dominated North American radio and MTV in the ‘80s with hits such as “Lay It On the Line,” “Hold On,” and “Magic Power.” Despite being one of the world’s biggest rock bands, the group split at the height of their fame and seemingly disappeared without explanation to their fans or media. Set to a mesmerizing visual backdrop of spandex, 80s hair, and explosive pyro, “TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” delivers a deeper story about fame and the human condition while chronicling the band’s reunion for what might be the very last time they play music together. (English, 97 minutes)

“The Triumph story was compelling to me, Marc, and the Banger team because it was an opportunity to piece together a broken puzzle,” says Sam Dunn. “We wanted to know how and why the band dissolved at the peak of their powers. We're thrilled to be returning to TIFF for the world premiere of this film!”

“Sam and Marc did an outstanding job documenting what it has been like to have been aboard the Triumph train for the past near-50 years,” raves Triumph bassist Mike Levine. “For fans old, new, and those to come in the future, this is all they’ll need to know about the band.”

“TRIUMPH: ROCK & ROLL MACHINE” premieres at TIFF on Friday, September 10th at 9:00p.m. ET at the RBC Lakeside Drive-In at Ontario Place, Toronto.

“This is GWAR” Feature Length Documentary to Debut at This Year’s Fantastic Fest September 23rd-30th in Austin, TX

mail-38.png

This is GWAR,” is the powerful story of the most iconic heavy metal/art collective/monster band in the universe, as told by the humans who have fought to keep it alive for over thirty years. The film will premiere at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX.

The feature documentary includes interviews with the band members, both past and present, as well as other artists including Weird Al Yankovic, Thomas Lennnon, Alex Winter, Bam Margera, and Ethan Embry, including never before seen footage of legendary GWAR frontman Dave Brockie.

Bob Gorman, author of Let There Be GWAR (2015), and long time artist and performer for GWAR had this to say about the film; “The story that emerges shows the trials and tribulations of GWAR. The founders of this band deserve credit, and that perspective is in there, but it also follows the story of those who have lived with the band and sought to keep it alive these many years.”

Directed by Scott Barber (Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story), with producers Tommy Avallone (Bill Murray Stories), and Josh Goldbloom (V/H/S/94). Executive Producers include Bill Parks, Zach Blair, Matthew Helderman, and Luke Taylor. The film was edited by Casey Matthews.

Raven Banner launches hard-hitting Life of Agony doc THE SOUND OF SCARS at Cannes Market

mail-48.jpeg

Genre specialist, Raven Banner Entertainment has topped up its Cannes virtual market slate with The Sound of Scars, a deeply personal documentary which chronicles Brooklyn alt/metal band, Life of Agony's rise, fall and rebirth while confronting domestic violence, substance abuse and addiction, depression and lead singer Mina Caputo's gender transition.

Directed by Leigh Brooks and filmed across several countries while Life of Agony was on and off the road. "This isn't a typical music documentary. It's as personal as it gets," says director Brooks. "I first saw the band live at the London Astoria in 1996. Since then, Life of Agony has become an absolute go-to when I felt alone and insecure about myself. This film is an intimate portrait that sheds light on the real life stories that make their music so vital and relevant."

The film takes a deep dive into lead vocalist Mina Caputo’s gender transition. “We’ve never avoided tough conversations and we don’t pretend to have all the answers,” says Caputo. “But this film is a roadmap with many great lessons. It shows a ton of vulnerability... moments of falling downward and others where we rise strong. Enjoy this gift of imperfection. May you find the tools to be braver with this film."

The deal was negotiated between Leigh Brooks of Firebelly Films, Richard Moxon of Moxon Media Consultants, Alan Robert and Joey Zampella of Life of Agony (LOA), and Raven Banner’s Michael Paszt, Michael Da Silva and James Fler.

The Sound of Scars is one of the most intense 'punch in the face' documentaries we've seen in years,” states Raven Banner’s Michael Paszt. “We're looking forward to sharing the band's incredibly important story with everyone.”

The Sound of Scars utilizes personal archival footage, rare photographs and lost interviews, along with new, never-before-seen conversations with the band and their family members that tells the story of how three friends overcame domestic violence, substance abuse and depression to form one of the most influential bands in its genre. Through the success of their ground-breaking 1993 debut River Runs Red, hailed by Rolling Stone as “One of the Greatest Metal Albums of All Time”, they channelled their cumulative life stories into a soundtrack for a broken generation. At the time, that newfound fame allowed them to escape the tragedies of their pasts, but in the wake of their accomplishments, unforeseen obstacles arose.

“We've completely ripped our deepest selves open for this film,” says guitarist Joey Zampella. “The audience and our fan base will completely understand the mold we were broken from, and what this journey means to us."

“When we first started LOA over 30 years ago, I don’t think any of us could have predicted the impact that this band would have on so many people around the world,” says Alan Robert, bassist for Life of Agony. “We got together as a way of saving ourselves, but ultimately, through the music and the brutal honesty of the lyrics, we ended up saving so many others along the way.”

The Sound of Scars is a POWERFUL & MOVING documentary on the story of Life Of Agony. Growing up in the same area as the band, I’ve always been aware of them, but I learned so much more about their inspiring story of perseverance in life and music through this film. It’s a story that needs to be heard and the film is incredibly well done”. —Eddie Trunk, SiriusXM

Intervals Debut Intricate New Single “Lock & Key” New Album Circadian Due Out November 13th

LISTEN: “Lock & Key”

PREORDER: Circadian

Today, torchbearers of progressive, instrumental rock, Intervals, have shared “Lock & Key”, the latest single from the band’s highly anticipated full-length, Circadian, due out November 13th. On “Lock & Key”, Intervals continue to push the genre’s boundaries, as well as their own - mixing Aaron Marshall’s command of technical intricacies and meticulous compositions with earworm hooks that are as memorable as they are dizzying. “Lock & Key” finds Marshall collaborating with fellow guitarist, Josh De La Victoria, creating an impressive synergy between the dueling guitar leads. This unbelievable creative chemistry serves as the inspiration for the track title, as the two pieces fit perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle.

“Lock & Key” follows the widely praised lead single “5-HTP” that was first revealed in the short documentary about the making of the album, Co-produced by Marshall and fellow Torontonian, Sam Guaiana (Silverstein, Obey The Brave, Like Pacific), Circadian, is available for pre-order here

Quote from Aaron Marshall (Intervals):
"Lock & Key is one of my favourite tunes from the new record and I'm so happy to feature my pal and extremely talented artist, Joshua De La Victoria. When this track started to take shape, I knew right away that I wanted to feature Josh. Initially, the idea was just to trade solos and have a sort of "guitar duel", which you typically see more in a live environment, so I was really into the idea of capturing this on record. Once we started to work through various ideas, I realized that there was a little more room for Josh to contribute and round out the composition. I wound up asking him to respond to my initial call in the verses, and bringing in the bridge section before the solo unfolds. The response to 5-HTP over the past few weeks has been incredible, and I'm so excited to show everyone more of this record!"

About Intervals

Through the progressive, instrumental rock project, Intervals, Aaron Marshall has long been considered an innovator. He’s built a career on trusting his instincts, even when that intuition has led him down a road that is decidedly less traveled. That may mean tearing down genre norms, finding creative ways to interact with fans, or a commitment to self-releasing music even when label opportunities are readily available to him. Marshall has bet on himself continuously, and backed that gamble up with hard work, unparalleled creativity, and an uncompromising desire to make each Intervals release a pivotal moment in the lineage of instrumental rock. On Intervals’ latest record, Circadian, Marshall continues to push the limit at every turn, resulting in arguably the most dynamic record in the band’s highly-revered catalog.

October 5, 2020 - Sweden’s most creative and exciting export, AVATAR, debuted their documentary titled Scaling The Mountain that follows the band throughout the creation of their critically-acclaimed, new album Hunter Gatherer. Spanning over two years and multiple countries, Scaling The Mountain gives some of the deepest insight to the band and their process that fans have seen yet.

Out now via Entertainment One (eOne), Hunter Gatherer, marked the darkest and most thought-provoking release of the band’s near decade long career. A striking and bold manifesto, the album is an unflinchingly ruthless study of a clueless humankind’s ever-increasing velocity into an uncertain future, furthering the reach of the band’s always expanding dark roots. In 2019, AVATAR reunited with producer Jay Ruston (Stone Sour, Anthrax) at Sphere Studios in Los Angeles, California, where the foundation for each song on Hunter Gatherer was laid with the band performing altogether, as they'd done only once before, on Hail the Apocalypse (2014). The old-school method of playing as one in the studio, more akin to how they are on stage, captured the essence of AVATAR. Recorded entirely to two-inch tape, Hunter Gatherer exhibits everything that makes AVATAR standouts in the vast, rich landscape of heavy metal's past and present.

The Brazilian black metal stalwarts of MYSTIFIER have shared a two-part mini-documentary, 'Mystifier - Two days in the Capital of Death Metal,' (Dois dias na Capital do Metal da Morte) which follows the band in Belo Horizonte (BR) at the start of their “Under the Black Magick Dinasty 2020" tour. The film explores the history of the band as well as the early days of the Brazilian metal scene. The band visits iconic metal landmarks in this Latin American city such as the Bonfim Cemetary, where SARCOFAGO took the pics for 'INRI' and the Cogumelo Records shop. The clips also include behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsals, and more!

Watch Part One.
Watch Part Two.

The band comments:

"On our trip to the wonderful city of Belo Horizonte/MG - Brazil (which is the city of Sepultura, Sarcofago and others of extreme acts from the 80s), we recorded this documentary about our tour to promote the recent album 'Protogoni Mavri Magiki Dynasteia,' released by Season of Mist, in March 2019.

"The documentary was recorded in November 2019 and we had no idea what was coming. We didn't even mention about the pandemic... As all of you know, all of our plans for 2020 have been ruined.

"All of our tours were canceled in Asia, Europe, United States, Canada and so on.

"Despite our Mother Earth's relentless rage against humans (Coronavirus),
we are already working on new compositions. Beelzeebubth is working on a solo project too.

"A big hug to all our fans, friends, bands, producers, road crews, label and tour managers, pub staff and so on. We can't wait to come back to road to keep our work on and on.

"Greetings form Brazil.
Stay safe !;;!
Beelzeebubth & Mystifier"

In addition to the documentary, MystifieR has also recently released videos for the songs "Witching Lycanthropic Moon" and "Akhenaton (Son Mighty Sun)," both taken from 2019's 'Protogoni Mavri Magiki Dynasteia.' The videos can be seen HERE and HERE, respectively.

'Protogoni Mavri Magiki Dynasteiacan' can be purchased in various formats at THIS LOCATION.

Brazilian act MYSTIFIER was formed by lead guitarist and bassist Beelzeebubth, drummer Lucifuge Rofocale, guitarist Behemoth, and vocalist Meugninousouan in Salvador, Bahia in 1989. The band created an aggressive, fast, and malignant sound within the classic black metal style, which makes them veterans of their scene.

A first demo tape, which was entitled 'Tormenting the Holy Trinity' came out in November 1989 and secured the band several shows all over Brazil. The 7" debut single 'The Evil Ascension Returns', as well as a second demo entitled 'Aleister Crowley', led to widespread underground recognition for MYSTIFIERin 1990.

MYSTIFIER's debut full-length, 'Wicca,' was already released worldwide in 1992 and the Brazilians managed to cement their reputation with each following record and accompanying tour. 'Göetia' hit the streets in 1993, 'The World Is So Good That Who Made It Does Not Live Here' followed in 1996, and 'Profanus' came out in 2001. In the wake of the deluxe box 'Baphometic Goat Worship' (2008), MYSTIFIER performed at the NWN Festival ll in Berlin, Germany and several other festivals around the globe.

As time went by, MYSTIFIER underwent some radical line-up changes. Vocalist Leandro Kastyphas was replaced by the exceptional Diego Sorcerer Do’Urden from INFESTED BLOOD, and drummer Alex Rocha (POISONOUS) handed his sticks over to Edward WarMonger (formerly of MEDICINE DEATH), who brought much experience and maturity to the group's compositions.

Having wrecked stages throughout South and North America, Europe and other places with several sold-out shows during the 'Bloodshed Rituals' tour in support of ROTTING CHRIST, MYSTIFIER are now proudly presenting their newest offering ‘Protogoni Mavri Magiki Dynasteia!'

Line-up:
Do’Urden: vocals, bass, keyboard
Beelzeebubth: backing vocals, guitar
Warmonger: drums, percussion
