Pagan Folk Band FAUN Shares New Single "Lady Isobel" + Visualizer

The Pagan Folk band FAUN are excited to release their new single, "Lady Isobel,"taken from their upcoming album, 'Hex,' due out on September 5th. The new single comes alongside a visualizer, available below.

“Lady Isobel” is a deeply personal ballad from vocalist Oliver Satyr. Accompanied by lute (Liuto Forte) and vocals, Satyr uses poetic imagery to tell the story of an enchanting woman seemingly trapped in the tower of her own loneliness. Enriched with flutes and synthesizers, the song once again showcases FAUN’s ability to craft a unique musical world, one that transcends genre boundaries with weightless beauty.

Oliver Satyr comments on the single:

"'Lady Isobel' has its source in one of my poems, which I wrote about a dear friend of mine. The lute accompaniment was inspired by the guitar playing of, for example, Nick Drake and Bert Jansch. Together with great vocals, flute playing, synthesizers, and rhythms of my band colleagues, 'Lady Isobel' has become a wonderfully floating ballad that I am very proud of.“

After being signed to Universal Music from 2012 to 2019, where they achieved gold and platinum success, FAUN released their first album on their own label, Pagan Folk Records, in April 2022. Titled 'PAGAN,' the album was met with enthusiastic praise from both press and fans, debuting at number three on the German album charts through a partnership with distributor Believe/Soulfood. Looking ahead, the band has announced plans to return to their musical roots with mystical, archaic folk and enchanted ballads on their forthcoming album, 'Hex,' set for release on September 5, 2025.

FAUN’s twelfth studio album 'HEX' explores themes of female magic, pagan myths, and ancient rituals across a variety of cultures. The title draws from the German word "Hexe" (witch) and the Old High German “Hagazussa,” meaning “one who walks between worlds.” The album focuses on pre-Christian legends from the Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, Germanic, Norse, and Turkish traditions, featuring stories such as Merlin and Nimue, Viking sacrificial rites (“Blot”), and ancient spells like “Ylfa Spere.”

Blending medieval instruments (hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, lute, harp) with modern beats, synthesizers, and diverse global influences, 'HEX' showcases FAUN’s signature fusion of ancient and contemporary music. Collaborations include Turkish singer Fatma Turgut, Swedish musicians Daniel Pettersson and Daniel Fredriksson, and a darkly atmospheric feature with Chelsea Wolfe.
