Oxford-based indie pop outfit JODY AND THE JERMS presents dazzling 'Divine' single

“Evanescent jangle of endearing pop hymns... a celestial glow that lingers at the nexus of The Sundays, Belle and Sebastian, Throwing Muses, and the effervescent efflorescence of The Darling Buds” ~ Post-Punk.com

"It’s almost like power pop, a bit Bangles... or jangle pop. Lovely" ~ Radcliffe & Maconie, BBC 6 Music

"‘Pop’ can often be used as a negative, hinting at either shallow or cynically manufactured music but with Jody and the Jerms the music is awash with a wonderful humanity that feels born out of friendship and love. Divine indeed" ~ Joyzine

"Jody had to be coerced into singing, and she does it really well. It's good isn't it!" ~ Janice Long - BBC Wales

"Poised and perfect... A joyous romp through everything that made pop so great... sassy and full of buoyant energy, shot through with chime and charm, and has lashings of sing-along-ability" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Aglow in sugar-spun pop confections and unforgettable harmonies that conjures the jangling heyday of The Bangles and the buoyant rhythms of The Regrettes" ~ Stereo Embers Magazine

"Positivity and buoyancy.... glossy pop, jangling guitar, elegiac harmonies, memorable choruses and wistful melancholy" ~ The Spill Magazine

Jody and the Jerms present their new single 'Divine', a short explosive slice of heavy pop wrapped into a song about hope and belief in an increasingly cruel world. Fuzzed-up and psychedelic guitars are balanced perfectly alongside a touch of electronica with beats and synth to the fore, paving the way for Jody's soaring vocals, supported by new Jerm Salma Craig and drummer Steve Clark on harmonies.

Recorded in August at Safehouse Studios in their hometown of Oxford, this catchy earworm is the final release of 2023. A prolific year for the band, they've played 50 shows across the UK, released their latest
'Wonder' album (April 2023), and enjoyed significant press and radio attention across the globe, including airplay on BBC 6 Music, Absolute Radio, Sirius XM and much coveted praise from Rolling Stone.

"What with all this talk of AI in music, we bucked the trend with a happy accident when we woke up one morning after playing a festival. All our guitars were locked in the van, so Pete (guitar) said we don't need instruments to write, and started humming the main riff. Steve (drums) happened to record it on his phone, then we drank coffee, got back in the van, drank something stronger and forgot about it for six weeks. Then I asked for the recording and Jody and I turned it into Divine one productive afternoon," says Niall Jeger.

"It's got a different grove than most of our other tunes, with more electronica and heavy guitars, but it is very much us. Salma and Steve stepped up with some strong backing vocals and harmonies to really give 'Divine' power."

As the lyrics go: "Hearts can break is what they say, abandoned dreams don't fade away. I believe you're heaven sent, my divine experiment".

Jody Jeger adds, "There is so much heartbreak in the World right now that I wanted to write something affirming about love and believing in finding it against the odds."

'Divine' arrives hot on the trail of
'Seen It All Before', an upbeat bitter-sweet tale of mistakes and consequences, inspired by lifelong friendships. Produced, mixed and mastered by RIDE's Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound studio in Oxford, this collaboration began with their third album 'Wonder' and then subsequent single 'Liberation'.

Championed by the late Janice Long at BBC, among others, Jody and the Jerms is a seven-piece revolving around Jody Jeger (vocals) and Niall Jeger (guitars and vocals). Jody had never sung or been in a band before the Jerms formed in 2019, although Niall had been in 00s Oxford trio
The Anydays, who graced the pages of NME, played with Radiohead and Supergrass, and were featured by Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2.

Jody and the Jerms create endearing jangle-pop songs that are both evocative and relatable. Formed in Oxford in 2019, they have been writing, recording and performing their blend of melodic and uplifting indie/ alt rock ever since, having enjoyed national airtime on Radio X (UK), Sirius XM (USA) and RTVE (Spain), as well as BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, BBC Wales and BBC Ulster.

As of November 1, 'Divine' will be released across digital platforms, including
SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp. Jody and the Jerms are currently touring the UK - get tickets at https://jodyandthejerms.com/live

Oxford indie pop-rock outfit
Jody and the Jerms have a summer surprise for the world - their new single 'Liberation', which was produced, mixed and mastered by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound studio near Oxford.

On 'Liberation', Jody and the Jerms get into the summer groove with a 3-minute stomp that sees the Oxford band push on from their jangle pop roots. With vocals to the fore, buoyed by the addition of new Jerm Salma Craig on backing vocals, the song is awash with Wah, Hammond and shaker to get the audience moving as they continue their 48-date summer UK tour and multiple festival appearances.

Now that the dust has settled on April's release of their third album
'Wonder' and latest single 'Intuition', the sweet taste of 'Liberation' powers the band forward, recalling the killer riffs, sass and harmonies of the B-52s in the embrace of the Jerms' own trademark twists and warm production.

An insanely upbeat and empowering song, 'Liberation' is about how the good times make you feel alive and free -  and how you want that positivity to last forever.

‘Liberation' single  https://jodyandthejerms.ffm.to/liberation

"A lot of our songs from the two latest albums, 'Flicker' and 'Wonder', have been called bittersweet - but 'Liberation' is something completely different. It's about how you feel when things are going well, the euphoria you feel, which can be hard to explain or even understand, and the excitement of what comes next," says frontwoman Jody Jeger.

Niall Jeger adds, "The whole song has a different sound to previous Jerms songs. We played around with different guitar and synth sounds, and also went big on the three-part harmonies that were a lot of fun to record. We had a very productive, creative  and happy day in the studio which matches the lyrical themes of 'Liberation'".

Championed by the late Janice Long at BBC, among others, Jody and the Jerms is a collective revolving around Jody Jeger (vocals) and Niall Jeger (guitars and vocals) with other band members coming from
The Anydays, who have graced the pages of NME, played with Radiohead and Supergrass, and were featured on Mark Radcliffe at BBC Radio 2.

Jody and the Jerms create endearing jangle-pop songs that are both evocative and relatable. On working with the Jerms, Mark Gardener notes, "In a great way, the music and the people take me to a place and time where music and life felt easier, fresh and less complicated. There is a simple purity, real heart and soul, plus earworm catchy-as-hell tunes in all they do. Always a warm glow pleasure that never felt like hard work or ‘trying to split the atom’  when there’s absolutely no need to as soon as they start playing in the studio we’re back off to that lovely space again."

As of July 12, 'Liberation' is available from fine music platforms, including
SpotifyApple Music and Bandcamp, where their latest 'Wonder' LP can also be ordered on limited edition CD and pink vinyl. Jody and the Jerms are currently touring the UK in support of this release. Tickets are available at https://jodyandthejerms.com/live

Oxford sextet
Jody and the Jerms welcome in the summer with a 3-minute pop classic called 'Intuition', arriving on a wave of rave reviews and airplay in support of their latest full-length album 'Wonder'.

"Is it Intuition, going round and round. The silent looks between you are dragging me down" sings Jody as she tells a heartfelt story of betrayal and temptation over the Jerms’ chiming piano, jangle guitars, and more harmonies, handclaps and tambourines that you can shake a stick at.

"Intuition is about how it feels being two timed and cheated on. But also how a broken heart can soon heal, and then you look back and wonder how did I let that happen and ask ‘had I listened to my intuition, the signs were there," explains frontwoman Jody Jeger.

'Wonder' (their third album to date) was produced, mixed and mastered at OX4 Sound Studio by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener, who notes, "Always happy days when Jody and the Jerms came into the studio to record ‘Wonder’. In a great way, the music and the people take me to a place and time where music and life felt easier, fresh and less complicated. UK indie pop outfit Jody and the Jerms present their full-length album 'Wonder', released via JATJ Records and arriving on a wave of rave reviews and airplay for lead tracks 'Started Something' and 'Insatiable'.

Their third album to date, this new collection of 12 tracks was produced, mixed and mastered by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio in Oxfordshire. Loaded with a healthy dose of melodic chrystallised indie pop that is heartfelt and honest, they present endearing jangle-pop songs that are both evocative and relatable.

"We recorded the guitars and drums with Mark Gardener at his OX4 Sound Studio almost as an afterthought following a long day of recording tracks for the 'Wonder' album. We were about to call it a day, but we just kinda let rip with the guitar riff and a real nice and simple rock drum beat. But it wasn’t until Jody set the song’s direction with the lyrics that we know we had a really good single," says Niall Jeger.

In the home-stretch towards the release of their much-anticipated 'Wonder' album, Oxford-based indiepop outfit Jody and the Jerms present their final single 'Insatiable', showcasing exemplary buoyant indie pop that harkens back to the feel-good vibes of another less complicated time and trailing the equally fun lead track 'Started Something'. His domineering appetite for the best of everything, combined with his complete sense of self entitlement, does not leave much room for others' feelings," says Jody Jeger.

"In this song, it leaves his neglected partner feeling ignored, playing second fiddle to his ego and needing the bravery to leave. If only someone could make him see!"
