HANGMAN'S CHAIR - RELEASE NEW ALBUM SADDICTION

Today French doom metal pioneers HANGMAN´S CHAIR release their brand new album Saddiction via Nuclear Blast. Together with the album the band released their new visualizer for 'Healed?' a song where every heavy riff and slow beat reveals the torments of the mind. The harrowing lyrics evoke depression, anxiety, and inner struggles, capturing pain and isolation in an oppressive, cathartic atmosphere.

HANGMAN'S CHAIR comments about 'Healed?': "The last song of an album is always a special one. “Healed?” is no stranger to that process, it was thought and written to be the final act of Saddiction since the beginning and it sums up all the themes of the album. It’s a classic Hangman’s Chair tune, that opens a new chapter. The question mark at the end leaves you the choice, are you healed or just denying?"

About Saddiction: "Feeling depressed on St Valentine’s Day? February 14th is the perfect day to release our new album when the ultra-modern solitude of big cities starts to kick in.
Saddiction or 9 ways to say I love you. Now, please don’t blame us for your saddiction, It has always been here."

About HANGMAN'S CHAIR:
HANGMAN'S CHAIR, formed in 2005 in Paris, is one of the most unique-sounding Doom Rock bands currently active. Through the years, they have found and fine-tuned their own sonic brand, somewhere at the crossroads between TYPE O NEGATIVE, LIFE OF AGONY, and SISTERS OF MERCY, to name a few, mixed with a certain street credibility connected to the group’s roots in hardcore. Each album takes its strength and essence from the band members’s life experiences, which they portray with unflinching honesty. Whether it is the loss of band members, drug overdoses, or the hardships of living in suburban Paris, all those human emotions resonate within each of their songs as they embrace the darkness and transform it into something beautiful, heavy, and melancholic.

HANGMAN'S CHAIR - Release New Single 'In Disguise'

Ahead of their next studio album, Saddiction, due on 14th February 2025 via Nuclear Blast, French doom metal pioneers HANGMAN´S CHAIR are back with their new single 'In Disguise'. A haunting, slow-burning shoegaze doom track that drifts through layers of sorrowful distortion. Its mournful lyrics unravel the weight of depression, echoing the isolation and darkness that consumes the soul.

HANGMAN'S CHAIR comments about 'In Disguise': "Wheather, debts, long time since failure, low motivational level, the feeling of a need to take action… already depressed? January 20th, more commonly known as “Blue Monday”, what a perfect day to release our third single “In Disguise”. A last fix before the launching of SADDICTION on Valentine’s Day. Enjoy!"

About Saddiction"SADDICTION is the contraction of 2 words, sadness, and addiction. It means the addiction to sadness. 7th effort of the band, for us, Saddiction is the second album of the new trilogy that started with A Loner back in 2022 and it’s the logical continuity. Keeping up with the cold, massively reverbed, and chorused atmosphere but now mixed with what Hangman’s Chair has been known for, the heaviness and the low-tuned sound, thanks to the magical sound engineer Francis Caste, once again. Valnoir of Metastazis designed the cover and resumed what the identity of Hangman’s Chair is all about in its purest form, concrete, pavement, bleakness, and ultra-modern solitude of the Parisian « banlieue ». Now, please don’t blame us for your saddiction. It has always been here. In your hearts, February 14th, 2025."

HANGMAN'S CHAIR - Release New Single 'Spleenwise' Ahead Of Their European Tour With IGORRR

As they prepare for their extensive European tour with IGORRR, French doom metal visionaries HANGMAN’S CHAIR reveal a previously unreleased gem in the form of new single 'Spleenwise'. Clocking in at over six minutes, 'Spleenwise' bears the trademark features of HANGMAN's CHAIR, as it combines dark, brooding atmosphere with somber melodies.

HANGMAN'S CHAIR stated about 'Spleenwise':
"'Laugh at everything, sad sex and poor decisions. Silence is addictive.'
'Spleenwise' is a neologism to express our state of mind towards everything that surrounds us: sit around, watch the world burn, and appreciate the spleen.
Plus, this song is a link between the past and the future, a track written many moons ago that closes the A Loner chapter, as it is the last remaining song of the studio sessions."

HANGMAN'S CHAIR about their album A Loner:
"It’s been a long, long way to get to this day and the path was beset with difficulties. And now to holdA LONERin our hands is an accomplishment and a relief, we’re just enjoying the fruits of our labor. The 3 singles we released were a taste of the album and to discoverA LONERas a whole will definitely be a different experience that we’re finally happy to share. To celebrate this day, we also released a new video, 'WHO WANTS TO DIE OLD', directed by Oscar Bizarre, filmed in an old disused asylum hidden in the woods near Paris. A music clip that closes the trilogy ofA LONERvideos."

The album is available now in various formats. Order your copy here: https://hangmanschair.bfan.link/a-loner.ema

Additionally, the band comments on the release of "Who Wants To Die Old":
'This is where it all started, depression. Depression comes back like an old friend, always. It crawls and slithers like Colonel Kurtz’snail, along the edge of a straight razor, our spine. And it survives.
'Who Wants To Die Old' was written at the peak of a never-ending depressed state and the stage was set for the rest of the album.
Musically, it has been inspired by our main influences from the 90’s Brooklyn
TYPE O NEGATIVE & LIFE OF AGONY. Once again, Oscar Bizarre is behind the camera, filmed in an abandoned sanitarium hidden in the woods near Paris, where concrete and nature become one.'

PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE HERE: hangmanschair.bfan.link/a-loner.ema

Known for traversing borders and experimenting with contradictions and taboos, HANGMAN'S CHAIR recently contributed a track 'Judge Penitent' to rap legend JOEYSTARR's Deezer France exclusive podcast 'Gang Stories'. Shedding light on the incredible lives of gang chiefs and shady personalities of the criminal underworld, the podcast deals with the dark side of humanity - and HANGMAN'S CHAIR managed to artfully portray this dark atmosphere and put this into music.

The band states about "Judge Penitent":
"We are thrilled to contribute to the Gang Stories Podcast by JoeyStarr. It’s a podcast that tells the journey of people with incredible destinies, such as the Crips’ Stanley “Tookie” Williams, or the gang chief of Rio, William Da Silva Lima, and many more, all narrated by JoeyStarr.
For the 5th season, we have written a song, but also the theme music to accompany the exploration of the darker side of the human soul and the discovery of the great outdoors via the history of Maurice “Mom” Boucher of the Quebec Hells Angels.
It is a very special song to us, it’s one that sums up all of our different elements, and one that we feel portrays the atmosphere of such a unique tale.
If you have already listened to Gang Stories, you know the gist of it: every society has the criminals it deserves.
A huge thank you to JoeyStarr and Deezer for their trust and for giving us the chance to play a part in such a project."

Podcast host JoeyStarr adds:
"If you listen to the Gang Stories podcast, you know the gist of it: every society has the criminals it deserves.
In the 5th season, I’m taking you on the roads of North America to tell you the story of Maurice “Mom” Boucher and of the Quebec Hells Angels.
Bikers’ road trips have always been soundtracked by the drum beats and saturated guitars from the Beat Generation, with a dose of psychedelic rock and heavy metal.
To create the music for this season, calling on Hangman’s Chair seemed like an obvious choice. These guys are used to taking us through dark atmospheres, which isn’t that easy in France. There’s no better fit to help us delve into the dark sides of the human soul and explore the great outdoors."

The band states about "An Ode To Breakdown":
"'An Ode To Breakdown' was clearly meant to be the first song of our new album 'A Loner'. Our new direction, especially sound-wise, is perfectly represented by this track.
The cover is also a new direction for us, in contrast to the lyrics, the light was chosen. White and neons as the new outfit. We asked the photographer Christopher De Bethune and the illustrator Dehn Sora to tell us what Loneliness means to them. An old man, a bench, and the world around. Waiting for nothing."
