“This episode and experience were something that was extremely personal to me. Being a new mother, an artist myself and outdoorswoman, I wanted to embark on this adventure with someone who would embrace it,” said Cooke Johnson.

“I grew up spending more time in the woods than indoors,” said Cooke Johnson. “We often slept outside under the stars because the old farmhouses we rented, when we weren't in our school bus, lacked air conditioning. The nights were much cooler and more comfortable outdoors. To this day, I dedicate most of my spare time to foraging for wild herbs and food, learning from nature. When Mary invited me to take this survival course with her, I couldn't say yes fast enough. My hope is that this experience will inspire women watching the episode to learn basic survival techniques, as it boosts confidence and self-esteem in a way nothing else can. I'm eager to do this again and acquire ancient skills, becoming a part of keeping them alive to pass down to my own children one day."
