Known by some as the “Queen of Low Rock” and her association and collaborations with members of the iconic band Morphine, acclaimed bassist, vocalist and songwriter MONIQUE ORTIZ(Bourbon Princess, Alien Knife Fight and A.K.A.C.O.D with Morphine saxophonist Dana Colley and drummer Larry Dersch) returns to the alt-pop scene with the forthcoming album "Rise Of Nones", her first full-length solo release in nearly twenty years.
With “Swimming Pool Dream,” Ortiz invites listeners into a hypnotic sonic world where shimmering melodies meet raw emotional undercurrents. The track balances dreamlike textures with a pulsing intensity, creating an immersive listening experience that feels both intimate and expansive. Anchored by Ortiz’s captivating vocal delivery, the single explores themes of memory, longing, and the tension between stillness and movement.
Staking her claim to a new, alternative high ground with a collection of ten iconic new tracks, including “Feels Like I’m Missing”, featuring Morphine co-founder Dana Colley.
Other stand-out tracks include the electro-pop-tinged “Swimming Pool Dream”; featured single “Soul Transmission”, and the plaintive,emotionally-tectonic album opener “Eclipsed”.
The release features original album artwork by Ortiz, and an expanded 20-page companion booklet. A summer-long promotional effort and live dates in support of “Rise of Nones” will be announced Spring 2026.
