UK band ACRES are pleased to announce their new EP, What It's Like to Feel Worthless, out October 25 via Tooth & Nail/Solid State Records. Pre-order it here.
Alongside the news of the five-song EP, the band has shared the visualizer for the single "Deadweight." Watch and listen below.
The song marks new territory for the band, as it stretched and flexed different creative muscles when crafting the track.
"When writing 'Deadweight,' we were really conscious keeping all the elements of what we're known for but also welcoming in the new sound," says singer Ben Lumber. "It's cathartic and anthemic. Lyrically, it's almost like a conversation between two people expressing how they feel about each other, and coming to terms with how they feel. It's the first time I've written this way."
Regarding the EP as a whole, Lumber states, "This EP is us trying new things and trying to express ourselves in a new way. We will forever try and change things up with every release but also keeping what our fans like about our band."
Following the success of 2019's Lonely World, a record that harnessed melody and melancholy, Acres found themselves playing the biggest shows of their career so far and achieving things they had only previously dreamt about. But when the world around them suddenly felt so uncertain, they had a choice to make of what they should do next. Instead of rushing out with something that they didn't fully believe, they locked themselves away and painstakingly created something that not only represented where they had been but also where they wanted to end up. The result was Burning Throne, a perfectly crafted account of what it means to stare into your own oblivion and learn about who you really are from it.
