A Songwriter’s Diary offers a poignant look at Gardner’s evolution as an artist, emphasizing the importance of her early work and the foundation of her artistry. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, the album has gained new significance for Gardner, who witnessed the storm’s impact on her hometown of Burnsville, North Carolina. These songs tell her story, reflecting her upbringing, family, and experiences, capturing memories through the music written in Burnsville.

Gardner hopes to transport listeners to her Appalachian roots and various stages of her life. “I want to give y’all a glimpse of my world,” she shares. From childhood joys to the pains of first heartbreaks, the album provides a sonic journey through her past and present. She envisions it as a safe haven for listeners, saying, “In a spiritual and euphoric sense, I wanted this album to encompass the real magic of music and the journey it can take you on if you let it.”

In conjunction with the album’s release, Gardner premieres a powerful new music video for “Cry,” directed by Ryan Hood. The video weaves between her soulful performance and the emotional unraveling of her ex's new relationship, exploring themes of heartbreak and a yearning for retribution. With lines like, “I hope she leaves you; I hope she breaks your heart like you broke mine,” Gardner's rich, velvet tone conveys the lingering pain of unresolved love.

Following the viral success of her cover of Fleetwood Mac’s "Dreams"  which garnered over 55 million views, Gardner felt a strong urge to connect with fans through her original music. The album title is inspired by her popular Instagram series of the same name, marking where it all began. “By returning to my roots, I hope this project serves as a reminder for me as I continue my journey in this career,” Gardner expresses.

With a captivating blend of classic rock, soulful delivery, and country influences, Gardner has carved a unique niche through her music. From her roots in the mountains of North Carolina to international stages, she consistently showcases her exceptional talent and determination. Inspired by her late grandfather’s love for music, she has evolved from a gifted storyteller to a celebrated artist. Her impressive collaborations with industry icons like David Guetta and MORTEN and her feature on the Twisters soundtrack alongside Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson highlight her rising star, further solidified by her recent recording contract with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville and publishing deal with Big Machine Music.

Lanie’s journey is marked by significant milestones, including her performance at this year’s CMA Fest and tours with major acts like Jelly Roll and ZZ Ward. These experiences have not only highlighted her captivating stage presence but also strengthened her bond with a passionate, devoted fanbase, further amplified by her recent addition to the 2025 Stagecoach lineup, where she will perform alongside headliners Jelly Roll, Zach Bryan, and Luke Combs.

As she continues to rise, Lanie remains a genre-defying artist dedicated to making a positive impact through her music. Her story is one of love, passion, and dreams—promising many more unforgettable melodies, memories, and milestones ahead.
