Steel Panther celebrates 15 YRS. of "Feel the Steel"

The Paramount was the perfect venue to kick off the 15-year celebration, as Huntington, Long Island, is famously known for its vibrant and electric party atmosphere. Tonight was no different; as the audience strolled in, you could clearly see and intensely feel that they were ready to let loose and rock the night away. The party truly began with "Eye of the Panther," and the band delivered everything you would expect from the renowned Steel Panther. Each member of the band was a captivating spectacle in their own right, bringing unique energy and charisma to the performance. Mike Starr made sure to point out "Banana Man" early in the set, promising him a memorable spot on stage, which he delivered during the encore performance of "Glory Hole." The band is celebrated not only for their humor but also for their infectious songs, high-energy performances, and, of course, the stunning GIRLS. Throughout various songs, a special sexy lady was playfully serenaded by the band on stage, with the standout highlight being "17 Girls in a Row." However, for me, the undeniable musical highlight was when Akira Takasaki from Loudness joined the stage to play guitar on "Running with the Devil." Holy shit, what an unforgettable opening night of this tour! Everyone better bring their stamina because this is one exhilarating, non-stop ride that you won’t want to miss.

W.A.S.P. and Armored Saint Roll their Metal Machine into NYC !

With the UFC fighting for dominance at the world’s most famous arena, just a block away, the Hammerstein Ballroom was alive with the thunderous energy of 80's metal. Blackie Lawless brought his highly anticipated Album One Tour to this historic venue, celebrating the landmark anniversary of their debut album by performing it in its entirety. As the lights dimmed and the crowd buzzed with excitement, the audio cranked out a captivating mixtape of classic WASP songs, heightening the anticipation as the band made their way onto the stage. They kicked off the evening with the electrifying anthem “I Wanna Be Somebody.” Midway through the set, Blackie paused to warmly welcome the audience, sharing that they had never before opened with that particular song. He also mentioned his initial reservations about performing the album in its entirety, but after reflecting on how Led Zeppelin had boldly done the same with one of their own albums, he felt inspired to go ahead and celebrate this landmark in WASP’s history. Throughout the show, Blackie stood confidently behind his imposing skeleton microphone stand, flanked by his talented bandmates Doug Blair, Mike Duda, and Aquiles Priester. Together, they delivered the perfect SOUNDTRACK to the album that launched their storied career. After a brief intermission, the band returned to the stage, igniting the crowd once again with a thrilling medley of fan favorites, including the classic hits “Wildchild” and “Blind in Texas.”

Opening the evening was yet another iconic band from the 80’s metal scene, the legendary Armored Saint. Their no-frills stage presence, combined with their powerful songs, transported me right back to a time when you could catch any one of the soon-to-be-huge bands—like Metallica, W.A.S.P., Anthrax, and others—performing at one of the many vibrant metal clubs scattered throughout New York City. As John Bush recounted a nostalgic story about performing in the renowned L’Amour in Brooklyn, it became clear that the band's history was deeply intertwined with the rich fabric of the metal scene. The setlist featured a greatest hits collection that spanned their long and distinguished career. At one memorable moment, John cleverly snuck his way to the balcony to sing closer to the audience lingering in the back, creating a special connection that made everyone feel welcomed and like they truly belonged. They also displayed no signs of slowing down, as they energetically played two of their more recent songs alongside the cherished classics that fans have loved for years.

Everclear Brought the 90's Alt Rock Hits to Long Islands' Paramount Theatre

It has been a few years since Art and the band last graced the iconic Paramount stage, but they certainly made up for the lost time with a fantastic set filled with everything you wanted to hear. Only a band with a massive catalog of hits can confidently get away with playing one of their top hits, "Father of Mine," so early on in their set and still manage to keep the audience rocking for the rest of the night away. It was also heartening to witness the love returned for the vibrant 90s scene, as it was a packed house at the Paramount Theatre, buzzing with excitement.

Marcy Playground delivered yet another amazing performance as a quintessential 90’s rock hit machine. They had the honor of playing either the middle set or serving as the opener for Everclear, a decision that brought an electric atmosphere to the venue. The band created a fun and exciting environment for the audience to immerse themselves in the music, especially highlighted when Jimi from Jimmies Chicken Shack joined them on stage to perform the beloved song “Sherry Fraser.” They expertly split their setlist, presenting hits from their albums in a balanced fashion, ensuring that the crowd received a well-rounded experience. The night kicked off with the energetic opening track “Poppies” and culminated with the unforgettable fan favorite “Star Baby.” Of course, they included their number one hit “Sex and Candy,” which kept the crowd moving and dancing all night long.

The night began with Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, and as Jimi Haha energetically welcomed everyone to the openers’ opener, the audience could feel an electric anticipation in the air. I wasn’t quite sure how the night would unfold at first, particularly as Jimi, who walked with a cane and had a noticeable limp, made his way onto the stage. However, all of my concerns quickly evaporated once he strapped on his guitar and confidently walked to the center stage. In that moment, it became clear that the band, alongside Jimi, was about to push into high gear. They delivered an exhilarating performance, showcasing their punk stoner vibe that beautifully complemented the alternative rock genre. Jimmie’s Chicken Shack was undoubtedly the perfect band to kick off this exciting night of music. Although their set felt standard and disappointingly brief for someone like me, with memorable tracks like “Do Right” and “High” included in the lineup, there was simply no way they could go wrong.
