Sonic Universe (Feat. Corey Glover of Living Colour) Drop "It Is What It Is" Video

Corey Glover and Sonic Universe will drop their debut album It Is What It Is on May 10. Pre-order it here. 

The band combines the forces of the Grammy Award-winning lead singer of Living Colour and Adrenaline Mob guitarist and founding member Mike Orlando.

Today, they share the video for the album's title track "It Is What It Is."

Complemented by the rhythm section of bassist Booker King and drummer Taykwuan Jackson, Glover and Orlando soar over what the singer called "a tight, tight, tight groove."

Glover continues, "The whole idea is that in order to make something new, you have to destroy the old. We do everything we can to change things, but the only way that you can change things is to believe."

"Right now / Right here/ Is all that it is / We lie / We try / It's all we can give."

"It Is What It Is" is  Glover and Sonic Universe giving their all to make a break with the past and create something new and honest.

"The band is killing it on this," Glover concludes. "It's a real gut-punch kind of sound."

The song appears on the band's upcoming debut album It Is What It Is, out May 10 via earMUSIC. Pre-order it here. 

"Higher" follows the statement of purpose that was first single "I Am." It's a call for strength and resistance in the face of opposition. "Sometimes it's all around / Can't get yourself up off the ground / Don't let the world bring you down."

There's no mistaking the power of Glover's voice, Orlando's ascending riffs, and the rhythm section of bassist Booker King and drummer Taykwuan Jacksonto take fans "Higher" as anticipation builds for the album's release.

The album was recorded at Orlando's Sonic Stomp Studios in New York City and the new video was once again directed by Tom Flynn (Lamb of God, Buckcherry). Capturing Corey in all his "colourful" glory, Sonic Universe muscles through the powerful track, showing four musicians at their peak and a chemistry to conjure new musical worlds from the galaxies of hard rock, funk, punk, thrash, and metal.

COREY GLOVER ANNOUNCES THE FORMATION OF SONIC UNIVERSE

Vocalist Corey Glover (Living Colour) has teamed up with guitarist Mike Orlando (Adrenaline Mob) to form Sonic Universe. Bassist Booker Kingand drummer Taykwuan Jackson complete the line up. The band has signed a worldwide deal with earMUSIC for their debut album It Is What It Is scheduled for release on May 10. The 10-song album was produced, engineered, and mixed by Mike Orlando at Sonic Stomp Studios.

The debut video from the album "I Am" premieres today. The video was directed by Tom Flynn (whose credits include videos for Lamb of God and Buckcherry) and shot in Toms River, NJ.
