Mychael's story is unique and compelling. His story begins when his parents met during the Prince's historic PURPLE RAIN World Tour. Mychael's father, Gilbert Davison was part of Prince's personal security detail on the Purple Rain tour and eventually became Director of Security, Prince's Manager and President of Paisley Park. Mychael's mother, Connie, was Sheila E.'s road manager and co-lyricist. Mychael is also Sheila E.'s co-producer, lead guitarist, studio engineer and collaborator.

The Lucid and Insane Clown Posse Vocalist Team Up For New Single and E.P.!

Eclectic hard rock band The Lucid, which features vocalist Vinnie Dombroski (Sponge), actor/guitarist Drew Fortier, bassist David Ellefson, and drummer/producer Mike Heller have joined forces with legendary underground rap icon Violent J (Insane Clown Posse) for the band's first single and title track from their upcoming E.P., Saddle Up and Ride, due out digitally January 27th from SpoilerHead Records. Miranda Lambert & Tractor Supply Company Bring Holiday Happiness to Animal Shelters

One of shelter pets’ greatest champions, reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year and current quadruple-GRAMMY nominee Miranda Lambert, teamed up this week with Tractor Supply Company, the exclusive retailer for her MuttNation pet line, to spread holiday cheer to animal shelters both near and far.  

On Monday, Lambert and her husband Brendan McLoughlin visited a Tractor Supply store in Franklin, Tenn., where they filled their carts with pet toys and supplies and then made surprise stops at three local shelters: Williamson County Animal Center, Metro Nashville Animal Care & Control and Nashville Humane Association.

Society 1 Film Multiple Music Videos For New Music!

Society 1’s new album will be released cinematically with music videos and as the soundtrack to the Shock Rock Movie that Lord Zane and Dagon are co-directing.

“We’re set to release two new music videos in January and February to accompany the singles we just did with iconic producer Chris Coller (Korn, Whitesnake). With the overwhelming response from our younger fanbase, Dagon and I decided to take a more cinematic approach to our music in 2023.” said lead vocalist Zane

Dagon Destroyer (Society 1 drummer & filmmaker) is partnering with Lord Zane to support the ambitious visual accompaniment of the music.

Dagon describes his perspective on the collaboration, “I see this new music as the soundtrack to a complete visual experience and story. There is just so much noise out there now and just releasing an album is no longer that interesting to me. My goal in working with Lord Zane is to combine our efforts to reach millions of eyes and in 2023 with visual storytelling and reels. We have everything in place to accomplish this.”

Solitude In Madness was released on May 1st, 2020. Vader went outside of their comfort zone, headling to Grindstone Studios in Suffolk, UK where the band teamed up with one-stop-shop Scott Atkins to engineer, produce, mix, and master for four weeks in the summer of 2019. The album artwork was created by death metal cover legend Wes Benscoter (Autopsy, Cattle Decapitation).

2020 also marked the 25th anniversary of Vader's classic and much sought-after 2nd album De Profundis (first released in 1995 in Poland), which hadn't been properly available in physical form in about two decades. Many fans regard it as one of the best albums in the band's catalog.

Formed in 1983 in North Eastern Poland, Vader are one of the longest-running bands in the history of extreme metal. Left-field metal luminaries Enslaved have revealed a single and video for 'Caravans to the Outer Worlds (Live from The Otherworldly Big Band Experience)'. The track, which comes from their forthcoming new studio album Heimdal (out March 3rd), as well as last year's EP of the same name, sees an innovative, alternative live recording and stellar presentation of the song, with nuanced accompaniment from fellow psychedelic Norwegian prog band Shaman Elephant.

This extraordinary performance took place one year ago, on last year's Winter Solstice, via the streaming event The Otherworldly Big Band Experience.

Heimdal album bonus versions will contain an extra track, 'Gangandi', alongside a Blu-Ray copy of The Otherworldly Big Band Experience. This streamed event was the band's boldest project to date. The kaleidoscopic stage show features a spectacular setlist, covering Enslaved's career, both past and present, and several tracks never previously performed live. 

Grutle Kjellson commented,
“Caravans To The Outer Worlds' was the first material written for our upcoming album, and that first song usually points in a certain direction. However, this song points in several directions, and that really made the whole process immensely interesting, and ultimately pushed us making our best album ever!
This live-version, taken from 'The Otherworldly Big Band Experience', our last big project keeping us alive during the pandemic, is the first of hopefully many opportunities to behold a performance of this energetic song. We hope you’ll enjoy it. God Jól!”

Never faltering, Norway’s iconic Enslaved continue to exist as one of the most original and dependable components in our scene's indestructible backbone. Possessing the reputation as one of the most riveting live acts around, they never fail to offer us talent of the highest calibre, always doing justice to their signature black/progressive sound. Enslaved was formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson, releasing their first demo Yggdrasill in the summer of 1992, their legendary mini-album Hordanes Land coming out in 1993, and with their debut full-length Vikingligr Veldi arriving in the spring of 1994.

Enslaved in 2022 are a band in stellar form - a band at its most existentialist and self-conscious, proud Bergeners bearing the torch of their hometown’s extraordinary musical history. Their most recent material shows Enslaved at their most unleashed and thought-through - a lethal combination unfurling a potential that’s easily rekindling the furor of their early works while dancing gracefully through their most ambitious, most haunting and most musical tunes yet. SAVAGE EXISTENCE ANNOUNCE APRIL 2023 RELEASE OF NEW SELF-TITLED ALBUM

Savage Existence will present their self-titled album — honest, violent, groovy and still crazy savage!

Formed in Costa Rica by Daniel Cleland (guitars) and Jesse Radford (drums), both entrepreneurs from Canada, and singer and songwriter Anton Darusso. They are joined by Daniel Ramos (bass) and Andreas Castro (guitars). 

“Savage Existence revisits old school groove metal with elements of American metal, death metal, and southern rock, with lyrics that speak about real life issues and relevant concerns of the modern day,” is how Cleland describes the group’s sound. 

“We made the new self-titled Savage Existence album as a fully collaborative unit, more experienced and better equipped than the first recording. We recorded with Logan Mader for a second time, but accessed the top notch gear in The Hideout, Skeleton Key, and Logan’s personal studios in Las Vegas. There are more vicious guitar solos, more complex overall arrangements to the songs, and generally we feel that this album shows-off just better composition. I really hope people are going to accept and love this record!”

“Logan Mader is of course one of the pioneers of groove metal from the 90s, and he’s produced debut albums for top selling bands like Gojira, Five Finger Death Punch, Devildriver and Cavalera Conspiracy. So having him in our corner has been a great asset.”

And although its release is still on the horizon, Cleland already has a few favorite tracks. “Personally my favorite tracks are ‘Cull,’ ‘Matricide,’ and ‘Enigma.’ I love the brutality and in your face lyrics of ‘Cull.’ I love the heavy melodic riffs of ‘Matricide’ along with the two guitar solos by Gary Holt. And I love the philosophizing lyrics of ‘Enigma,’ along with another Gary Holt solo. However another couple of awesome songs with great choruses and riffs are ‘Leap of Faith’ and ‘Standing in Flames.’”

Lastly, what are Savage Existence’s plans once the album is unleashed? “World domination! We’re doing some touring in South America while we wait for our USA visas to come though, and planning on touring Europe this summer. The whole idea is to support our upcoming releases with at least a year of touring!”

Due to high demand, Inferno Metal Festival Norway is now announcing additional black metal sightseeing tours on Friday, April 7, 2023 as tickets for the previously announced tour on April 6 have sold out!

This unique experience takes place during the 2023 edition of Inferno Metal Festival, which takes place in the heart of Oslo, Norway at the Rockefeller, John Dee venue during Easter weekend from April 6-9, 2023. The lineup and daily schedules for the festival can be found below.

Hosted by Anders Odden (Cadaver, Celtic Frost, Satyricon, Order), the tour will take fans on a trip through the places that marked the beginnings of Norwegian black metal.

For the average music fan the story of Norwegian Black Metal is in essence something about murder, suicide and church burning. Between 1991 and 1993 many of the most important events in this dark chapter in Norwegian music history took place in Oslo and we have put together a field trip to the sights that takes you back in time.

Anders Odden formed his first black metal band, Slaught, in 1986 after attending a rehearsal with Mayhem at the age of 14. He was one of the pioneers in the infancy of the Norwegian scene dealing with tape trading, organizing concerts, and creating more and more extreme music on his own. He formed Cadaver in 1988 and released the first Norwegian death metal album on Earache Records in 1990. His band played shows with Darkthrone, Mayhem, Old Funeral and many more bands of what would become the Norwegian black metal scene in the beginning.

This field trip has exclusive anecdotes and personal memories of the early life of the scene from someone who was there. The schedule for the tour is as follows:

The new exhibition investigates the dark and chaotic feelings of Norwegian black metal. Irish Synth Metal Trio NO SPILL BLOOD Release New Single "Anvil Crawler"

Today, Svart Records announces the sophomore album ‘Eye Of Night’ by Irish synthetic kraut-metal trio No Spill Blood. After the 2015 debut ‘Heavy Electricity’, the synth-bass-drums trio have spent the pandemic years working on a triumphant return, set to be released on February 23, 2023. No Spill Blood will embark on a 14-date Euro tour with Year of No Light to support the album starting February 4th.

As showcased by the new single "Anvil Crawler" the Dublin trio have refined and developed their signature sound, incorporating elements of doom and thrash into their synthetic kraut metal. ‘Eye of Night' is a feast of thunderous riffs, propulsive rhythms, cosmic textures, and moments of far-reaching minimalism. An arsenal of analog synths and electronics alongside pounding low-end strumming underpin a series of inward-folding tales of a protagonist's journey within the self. Formed in Dublin, Ireland in 2011, No Spill Blood are a forward-thinking synth metal band consisting of Matt Hedigan (bass, vocals), Ruadhan O’Meara (synths and electronics) and Ror Conaty (drums). Their sound has been described as a distinctive blend of heady, electronic riffs and crushing electronics which draws elements from synth punk, noise rock, classic doom, and experimental esoterica. The band’s debut album was on Sargent House in 2015, and they have performed live with Russian Circles, Baroness, Boris, The Fall and Deafheaven.

Fredlös have released their new single "Farsot"

Fredlös have released their new single "Farsot", taken from the band’s upcoming self-titled debut album. The single is accompanied by a music video.

Fredlös came together in the Spring of 2021, rising from the ashes of previous musical adventures, based in the country around Norrtalje, northeast of Stockholm. United by a deep sense of their historical roots and a love of dark sounds, they create a truly epic landscape, blending heavy guitars with more traditional instruments and a need to relate history true to the facts. The result is a brooding yet effortlessly melodic sound where the listener can survive and thrive in the dark.

Swedish Metallers SCREAMER Release New Single & Video for "The Traveler" Today!

SCREAMER, one of Sweden’s most ambitious heavy metal acts, have released their third single from their upcoming full length today, entitled "The Traveler". SCREAMER’s latest offering, Kingmaker, is scheduled for release on January 13, 2023 via Steamhammer/SPV.

It’s the physically tangible intensity of their songs, their enthusiasm and their irrepressible drive that has always set SCREAMER apart from other acts. The Swedish band surrounding vocalist Andreas Wikström benefits to no end from their amazing energy in combination with the musicians’ inspiring and diverse songwriting. This rewarding mix has already produced four studio albums and one live recording since 2011.

Like its predecessors, ‘Kingmaker’ sparkles with a wealth of songs in the catchment area of classic heavy metal, the kind that has been an integral part of our lives since the early 1980s. At the same time, Screamer skins-man Henrik Petersson promises his band’s most mature and focused album yet, saying: “‘Kingmaker’ had us refine our signature style even more and bring out the essence of our strongest fortes.”

New songs such as "Renegade", "Chasing the Rainbow" and "Hellfire" are typical Screamer numbers. Says Petersson: “In addition, they show what we are about this time, musically as well as in terms of content. Normally our lyrics are about life on tour, the joys of heavy metal and the life that goes with it.” 

However, the unusual, melancholy "The Traveler" is not your typical Screamer fare.

"‘Kingmaker’ also features socio-critical approaches, for example on "Ashes and Fire", and fantasy influences on "Sounds of the Night", which you might refer to as little adventure stories,” adds vocalist Andreas Wikström.

Screamer came together in Ljungby in 2009, a small town between Malmö and Gothenburg. Their previous studio albums, ‘Adrenaline Distractions’ (2011), ‘Phoenix’ (2013), ‘Hell Machine’ (2017) and ‘Highway of Heroes’ (2019), saw the five-piece deliver straightforward statements featuring dynamic riffs, tasteful twin guitars, punchy grooves and deeply melodic vocals. Screamer have played well over three hundred concerts, including acclaimed shows at renowned festivals such as Headbangers Open Air, Rock Hard Open Air, Summer Breeze, Bang Your Head and Muskelrock.

Testament to the quintet’s enthusiasm for playing live saw the light of day in January 2021: The songs on their ‘Live Sacrifice’ live album were cut during their European tour between autumn 2019 and spring 2020. ‘Kingmaker’ now seamlessly picks up where its predecessors left off. 

Wikström is not only Screamer’s vocalist, but also the band’s main lyricist, with a sure instinct for fantastic choruses. Along with longstanding members, guitarist Dejan Rosić, described by his colleagues as a “riff machine and Bosnian Santana”, and bassist Fredrik Svensson Carlström (“a real animal on stage!”), there’s drummer Henrik Petersson, who not only started the band, but is also its manager and organizational backbone. Guitarist Jon Morheim has only recently joined the Screamer fold and is a true riff virtuoso whose great technical skill has been instrumental in propelling Screamer to the next musical level.

These five have combined their talent, experience and undiminished driving ambition to unleash ‘Kingmaker’, the strongest album of their career to date.

Fat Mike of NOFX Launches New Label, Bottles To The Ground; Signs The Meffs, Codefendants and Melvinator

Right on the heels of the exoneration of his new band Codefendants, notorious punk rock legend Fat Mike announces the launch of a new record label, Bottles To The Ground. This label will be a halfway house for Codefendants, and a home for British punk duo The Meffs, NOFX’s Eric Melvin’s EDM project Melvinator, and others.

Fat Mike explains the origins of Bottles to the Ground: 

“When NOFX first played Amsterdam in 1988, we were invited to the closing night of one of the most infamous squats in the city. Not just a squat, this was a punk bar that instructed everyone to smash all glasses and bottles on the street after we emptied them. Apparently there would be no repercussions from the city because no one owned it. So, we drank all night along with hundreds of punks and every fucking bottle got smashed. To me, it looked like how punk rock music should feel. Bottles to the Ground is the beauty of disaster.”  

Fat Wreck Chords now has a new imprint Bottles to the Ground. Fat Mike created this label for both his and NOFX’s music projects such as Codefendants and Melvinator, as well as other bands that do not fit the traditional Fat sound. This label is a collective not solely owned by Fat, but by all members of NOFX.

We owe you a beer if the chorus isn’t stuck in your head for the rest of the day. The video was filmed in Clacton-on-sea, where Lily was born and bred. Being about a 'Broken Britain' it felt apt filming by the most deprived town in the UK... on a boiling hot day.”

Globally renowned guitarist, artist and founding member of punk-rock heavyweights NOFX, Eric Melvin needs little introduction. Outside of his work with NOFX, fans have been eagerly watching Melvin's solo transformation into Producer / DJ for nearly 10 years. Beginning with the now legendary "Mosh-Up" collection of mixes, Melvin's entree into the world of mash-ups, with short, sharp sets that seamlessly moulded together punk rock, hip hop, EDM, and funk - and mixing the likes of NWA with Fugazi & The Circle Jerks!  

With a packed schedule for 2023, Melvinator has teamed up with long-time friend, bandmate, and label boss Fat Mike as one of the first signings to his new label Bottles To The Ground. Melvinator will offer fans brand new versions of NOFX staples. Executive produced by Fat Mike and recorded over the course of two years alongside producer Baz The Frenchman (NOFX – The Decline at Red Rocks), this project continues Eric Melvin’s exploration of the do-it-yourself links between punk rock & EDM. His first release on the label, a reworking of “American Errorist”, is out today and available both on streaming platforms and as a 12” single featuring Melvinator’s original version and a remix by ZBA. Slaves to Humanity Announce Multiple Show Dates in Washington!

Slaves To Humanity announced that they will be playing a string of shows in Washington in January, 2023.

"I’m really excited. It’s gonna be extremely refreshing. I absolutely love Seattle, and I cannot wait to show our music to a new crowd. It’s a little scary, but the excitement outweighs any fear I have! " says Aidan Amini.

Shane Ryan adds, "Going on tour is one of the main things I’ve been looking forward to doing since I started playing drums, and now that we’re actually going to make that dream a reality is super surreal for me. This is going to be just the first of many tours we will be going on as a band and it’ll definitely be one to remember."

"I'm looking forward to it. There's something about being completely on our own that feels like a necessary stage in our journey. A little scary? Exciting? Definitely a bit of both," comments Nathan Johnson.

Pierce Akers also comments,"I’m excited but definitely nervous because I haven’t done anything like this, but this is definitely something that needs to happen for us to move on this musical boat."

Slaves to Humanity (STH) is a Sunset Grunge band from Orange County California. It’s members include Aidan Amini on vocals, Pierce Akers on guitar, Shane Ryan on drums, and Nathan Johnson on the bass. Together the band mates create a sound like no other, mixing the melodic guitars of the late 80s era hard rock bands, and the lyrics and vocal sound of the 90s grunge era, as well as throwing modern rock elements all around.

In 2019 they released their first single “BATTLEGROUND” which had success in radio stations and streaming platforms alike. Following this release, during the Covid 19 pandemic, the band released “Behind My Back” which showed even more success. Both singles were the most requested song on KLOS and received heavy rotation on that major radio station for many months throughout the pandemic.

During the pandemic, the band worked hard on putting together their social media presence and continue to do so today, showing success on Tiktok and Instagram. The band continues to play shows in Southern California as well as build their social media presence.

The band appeared on Episode 2 and Episode 10 of the show NO COVER - (The only Music Competition show w/ unsigned artists performing original songs).

British solo artist SICKY presents 'Beans', a complex melodic slice of alt-pop with slick lyrics, from his thickly layered sophomore album 'Garbage Town'. This 12-track collection was supported by three singles - the title track 'Garbage Town',  'The Bridge' and 'A Bite Without A Mark'. 

SICKY is the solo project of Mick Butler, his brand of melodic Britpop-infused indie rock spells good news for fans of Beck, Supergrass and early Blur. Originally from the Black Country region of England, he is now based in Shropshire.

"This album continues the theme of shaking off dark days and making better things happen. It also includes songs that are just quirky bits of pop fun. 'Beans', for instance, is a tale of someone I know who cannot be named. This friend has become infamous for his loose behaviour so I’ve likened him to Beans, the family cat. Songs 'None of That' and 'Protect Me Protect Mine' were very much inspired by the invasion of Ukraine. It's so hard to believe this can still happen in the 21st century," says SICKY.

While Mick Butler has had his run of playing in bands, ranging from the brass soaked pop of Papa Mantra to the dirty stomp of SUMO, he now derives pleasure from banging out tunes and crafting new material. Literally everything you hear in his music is him squeezing noises out of anything that'll sing.

"Life inspires me.Things that happen to me or people around me, good or bad. I tend to write when I least expect it. I never sit down and plan to write something. All my albums have been accidents. If you like dark matter, heart felt musings, rough edge diamonds, heart on sleeve kinda music, then please give Garbage Town a listen... It might just leave a mark," says SICKY.

The new album comes a year after his lockdown album 'Bowling Balls', which was partially inspired by Prince and Bowie, as well as Ray Bradbury's book 'The Martian Chronicles'.

NYC-based postpunk duo Frenchy and the Punk present 'Temple of Sleep', a slow, dark, atmospheric track from their new 'Zen Ghost' album. Pitting emotional angst against sleep, the song squirms with the uneasy yet seductive pull of altered states of rest. The video, shot entirely in upstate New York, captures the autumnal feel and mood of the song.

Frenchy and the Punk is vocalist, percussionist and lyricist Samantha Stephenson and guitarist-composer Scott Helland, who co-founded Outpatients and Deep Wound (with Dinosaur Jr.'s J Mascis and Lou Barlow). The duo profess a vivid blend of post-punk and dark folk music.

Not long ago, the duo revealed 'If The World Doesn't End First', a love song wrapped in an impending apocalyptic scenario inspired by current events, past fears and the knowledge that, in the end, the things that don’t matter pass and the one thing that does remains.

Earlier, they released the high energy singles 'Mon Souvenir' and Siouxsie-esque 'Come In and Play', their shadowy sound taking an even darker turn towards the pair’s previously unexplored personal planes and interpretations of the insanity of our increasingly tumultuous age. Dark times make for dark songs.

"When I wrote the lyrics to 'Temple of Sleep', I was literally having trouble sleeping. Sleep used to come easily to me, except perhaps as a teenager when I was afraid to succumb to it because of recurring nightmares and sleep paralysis. But during these last few years, sleep has often evaded me. I also think about what it must be like to be in your early 20s at this time, trying to make plans and dreaming of the future and how it is probably so different than when I was that age. There is a dystopian cloud that seems to hover over everything these days. The everyday of life can be poisonous and make restful sleep hard to attain, which is so instrumental to a healthy life," says Samantha Stephenson.

"I have always found that the return to nature for nurture and the calming of the waters of the heart and mind are essential to well being; an anecdote. I find the allure of the dream state to be very seductive and a welcome escape. The theme of sleep felt like the perfect subject for Scott’s beautifully lugubrious riff progression on this tune."

Tapped as one of the Top 25 duos in the US by Yahoo! Music, the freewheeling pair has released numerous recordings, including the acclaimed albums 'Happy Madness' (2010), 'Hey Hey Cabaret' (2012), 'Elephant Uproar' (2013), 'Cartwheels' (2014), 'Bonjour Batfrog' (2014) and 'Hooray Beret' (2019).

French-born, but raised in the UK and USA, Stephenson’s study of piano and dance ignited her eventual rejection of corporate conformity and fueled a quest to lead a truly autonomous life through art and music. A son of jazz-loving teachers, Helland grew up in Western Massachusetts and was a vital player on the region’s fertile early hardcore punk scene.

Helland and Stephenson met in NYC in 1998, when Stephenson spontaneously jumped on stage to accompany Helland during his solo guitar performance. The artistic union was immediate, powerful and undeniable. The two began to tour with fevered zeal, turning heads with their striking aesthetic, steadily building fervent fans on the mystical-folk/steampunk festival, coffeehouse, convention, and club circuits with their boisterous, revival-like live shows.

Over the years, they've performed live with Dead Can Dance's Peter Ulrich and Dresden Dolls' Brian Viglione, and opened for Thomas Dolby, Dinosaur Jr., The World Inferno Friendship Society, Rasputina, Cruxshadows, Hurray For The Riff Raff and The Young Dubliners. 

The 'Zen Ghost' LP is out now via EA Recordings and can be found across fine digital outlets, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. It is also available on CD via the band's website.

OCEANHOARSE Release Lyric Video for New Single "Carved in Stone"!

”Carved in Stone started with a melody written by my old guitar partner in Amoral, Silver Ots. I wanted to write music with him again after a decade-long break, so I asked him to send over any cool stuff he might have lying around. This melody made a big impression on me straight away, and I built a grandiose Oceanhoarse song around it. Lyrically the song is about how much of what we are, what we want and what we strive for is already within us either from since we are born, or from very early on in life.”
