NYC collective Gramercy Arms present 'Yesterday's Girl', co-written by Lloyd Cole and Dave Derby

"Gentle and perfectly arranged, it is both calming and genuine, straightforward and talented, giving space and voice everywhere that the song and its story requires... clearly at a different level of musical maturity.. A hidden Americana-indiepop gem, Gramercy Arms show that music truly is a journey" ~ The Spill Magazine

NYC-based indie rock / powerpop outfit Gramercy Arms presents their Americana-tinged single 'Yesterday's Girl', a bittersweet remembrance of love lost and friendship regained. This is the first taste of their 'Deleted Scene' album, scheduled for release via Montclair, NJ-based Magic Door Record Label in early 2023,

Co-written by Gramercy Arms frontman Dave Derby and music legend Lloyd Cole, this song was originally penned for Darlene Love’s solo album 'Introducing Darlene Love'. Artfully reimagined by Derby and producer Ray Ketchem as a duet with Derby and Renée Lo Bue (Elk City, Flowers of America) trading vocals for the Gramercy Arms version. The colorful video, directed by acclaimed visual artist Debora Francis, features Derby and Lo Bue.

Deleted Scene' is the group’s third full-length album, following 'The Seasons of Love' (2012) and 'Gramercy Arms'. Lyrically driven and rich on vocal-harmony, interspersed with elements of 60s sunshine pop and folk-rock, Gramercy Arms is a revolving collective of musicians and artists masterminded by Dave Derby (The Dambuilders, Lloyd Cole),

Produced, recorded and mixed by Ray Ketchem (Guided By Voices, Luna, Elk City) at Magic Door Recording with additional recording by Lloyd Cole, this album was mastered by award-winning engineer Greg Calbi (John Lennon, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Talking Heads, Patti Smith, Tom Petty, Bill Frisell, Todd Rundgren).

“Being asked to sing one-half of the lead part on 'Yesterday's Girl' was a wonderful surprise. I showed up at Magic Door Recording prepared to do backing vocals. It was Ray Ketchem who suggested a duet during the session. It's an honor to sing the female lead part on a Lloyd Cole/Dave Derby penned song, originally written for Darlene Love,” says Renée LoBue.

Lloyd Cole further notes: “As I recall, we wrote very quickly hoping to channel Springsteen channeling Spector, with copious help from Blanton’s of Kentucky. I’d completely forgotten it until Dave presented this version and it feels like I won the lottery. It is wonderful. Very happy to have my name in the credits."

Inspired by the artistic heyday of ‘70s and ‘80s-era New York City, Gramercy Arms makes addictive indie pop - exquisite hook-laden melodies filled with lyrics that will have you floating back in time, remembering your favorite mistake.

Apart from Lloyd Cole, 'Deleted Scene' is a star-studded affair, also involving Kevin March (Guided by Voices, Shudder to Think, The Dambuilders), Doug Gillard (Guided by Voices, Nada Surf, Cobra Verde, Death of Samantha), Sean Eden (Luna), Mark Lizotte (Diesel), Phoebe Summersquash (Small Factory), Rainy Orteca (Joan As Police Woman, Dead Air), Renée LoBue (Elk City, Flowers of America), Kendall Meade (Mascott), Verena Wiesendanger (Semi Gloss), Claudia Chopek (Bright Eyes, The Little River Band, Echo of the Ghost), John Leon (Roky Erickson, Royal Arctic Institute), Rafa Maciejak (Lloyd Cole and the Negatives, Ivy), Hilken Mancini (Fuzzy, the Monsieurs, Punk Rock Aerobics), Richard Alwyn-Fisher (King Canutes, The Winter Drinks), Mike Errico, Steve Hurley (Gigolo Aunts), Lysa Opfer (Aeon Station), Carl Baggaley (Elk City, Royal Arctic Institute), Peter Hess (Phillip Glass Ensemble, Slavic Soul Party), Jessie Kilguss and Gary Burton (Dovedale).

As of November 16, 'Yesterday's Girl' will be available across online platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. It will also be downloadable via Bandcamp, where the album can be pre-ordered.

"With this album, CANDLEMASS prove once again they are the real kings of doom metal." (Rock Hard, IT)

“The godfathers of epic doom metal prove once again that they can wallow in the doomy sonic mire like no one else. Stay doomed!”

(La Heavy, ES)

CANDLEMASS…Returning to the dark light!”

(Metallian, FR)

Legendary classic doom icons CANDLEMASS recently announced the release of their new album, Sweet Evil Sun, to finally see the light of day this Friday, November 18, via Napalm Records. With this top-notch offering, recorded at NOX studio in Stockholm, the Swedish force centered around Leif Edling continue their unmatched legacy, following the inimitable The Door to Doom (2019) and proving once more that they reign as one of the heaviest metal bands on earth, bringing epic doom to the world of metal.

After releasing the hammering first single, “Scandinavian Gods” and the heavy doom successor track Sweet Evil Sun, it’s time to unveil the next appetizer “When Death Sighs”! Lethargic riffs announcing the ominous arrival of death, while Jennie-Ann Smith, mesmerizing vocalist of Edling's brainchild Avatarium, accents the song’s shimmering, blood-freezing chorus lines. With no exit out of the situation, the haunted atmosphere is supported by an amazing guitar solo closing the dark chapter of the death’s breath, underlined by an eerie lyric video to capture this dark feeling visually.

After working on this massive piece of art for 18 months in total, with 'Sweet Evil Sun', CANDLEMASS brings back all the grandness of their early years, exploring themes of ambition and strife, hope and failure. It comes as no surprise that, alongside the band, renowned producer Marcus Jidell captured the band’s massive, smoky guitar tones, powerful drums and larger-than-life vocals, offering a truly unique, high quality sonic experience.

Through the power of wall-shaking riffs, incredible vocal performances and the blood and spirit of classic heavy metal, Sweet Evil Sun shines as a masterpiece of impending legend that truly honors the epic doom metal cult of CANDLEMASS.

The artwork for 'Sweet Evil Sun' was illustrated by the skilled hand of Erik Rovanperä, the architect behind CANDLEMASS’ visual style since 'Psalms for the Dead' (2012).

Leif Edling on the new album:

“'Sweet Evil Sun' is about hope, striving, adoration and failure. It's about all the personal battles that you have, but also the never-ending decay of humanity.

The record took over a year to make and there's not a bad track on it! We had a fantastic time recording it and are really looking forward to the release. It's Doom, It's Metal! It is the essence of CANDLEMASS put into one album!”

Weathers Announce Signing To Sumerian Records, Drop New Track & Video "Where Do I Sign?"

SoCal Alt-pop trio, WEATHERS have announced today that they have signed a new deal with world-renowned independent label, Sumerian Records. The band have also dropped their first new single out via their new label home, the aptly named "Where Do I Sign?". Find the track on streaming platforms HERE and watch the official music video below.

Speaking on the release of the band's new track, frontman Cameron Boyer shares

“We wanted to make a song as a kind of satire on things we’ve been feeling in the past year. We’ve been joking with each other saying “what’s it gonna take to get to the next level?” And we mentioned selling our souls is our best bet. So we thought we’d turn that into a song and talk about all the things we want in a kind of dark twisted way. It’s a lighthearted mind set with with a darker feel since selling your soul would actually be something very serious.”

On the subject of their new label deal announcement, Boyer adds

“We are stoked to be signing with Sumerian Records. It feels like the perfect fit and we are thrilled to be surrounded by such an excited and dedicated team that believes in our music and vision. We are both inspired and humbled to be a part of their roster alongside some amazing artists including a few that we’ve become friends with on past tours. Calling this a dream come true would be an understatement. We can’t wait for what the future holds.”

Further news about new music from WEATHERS to come soon. Be sure to follow them online to stay up to date.

They followed their debut release up with a series of self-released singles which lead into their most recent album release, 'Pillows and Therapy' which came out in August of 2021. NOFX's Fat Mike Launches New Musical Collective; CODEFENDANTS

When they decided to give MPC’s and distortion boxes to inmates….Crime Wave was born.

What if Killing Joke played reggae but with minor chords and Tom Waits was singing and playing piano? Well, that would probably be terrible. Codefendants are not.

Fat Mike of NOFX's newly launched project, Codefendants, are the breath of fresh air and the steel-toe-cap kick in the nuts music has needed for too long. Impossible to define by traditional standards, Codefendants were forged out of a desire to make an album that sounded like nothing else - a completely genre-fluid album - a cross between hip hop, new-wave, flamenco, and the Beatles. And thus a whole new genre - Crime Wave was born.

Today they release the music video for “Suicide By Pigs”, Episode 1 of a cinematic pentalogy which succeeds previously released music video for Episode 2 and the track “Abscessed” which was surreptitiously released without fanfare on YouTube last month and has already racked up over 33k views. Watch both videos by clicking the images below or by clicking HERE and HERE. If you don’t want to ruin the viewing experience, watch Episode 2 first, followed by Episode 1. It will all make sense, just trust us.

Non-album versions of "Suicide By Pigs" (Baz Mix) and "Abscessed" (10" Version) are available as part of a newly released 10" split also featuring two Get Dead tracks "Safe Places" and "Pepperspray" (Chris Dugan Mix) , out now via Fat Wreck Chords HERE.

Sam King from Get Dead’s graffiti crew were giving tattoos and making flash art to raise money to help rapper Ceschi Ramos when he was in prison. Months later they met at the Gilman Street Project in Berkeley, California. They bonded, talking about their love of hip-hop and punk rock, over a bottle of Jameson. They didn’t know it yet, but they had just started Codefendants.

They began recording songs two years later in Los Angeles with Fat Mike from NOFX as producer. Soon after Fatty joined the band, they decided to make an album that sounded like nothing else. That album will be released in early 2023.

You can’t hear the band on streaming services yet, but you CAN listen to their 6 song demo cassette tape if you send $7 to a PO BOX in Brooklyn. Videos can be seen on YouTube… at least the ones that weren’t banned. They just finished filming a five- song video series that will probably not be seen on YouTube, but will be available at thisiscrimewave.com. The short movie, made up of the five music videos, features the legendary rapper DOC, N8NOFACE, 2Mex, and Stacey Dee from Bad Cop / Bad Cop.

All that Fat Mike has to say about their new album is,

”Get ready for the best aural sex of your life.”

NYC-based American-French duo FRENCHY AND THE PUNK present 'If The World Doesn't End First'

"Explosive, subdued, confrontational, soothing, spikey, and accessible, an incredible blend of alt-rock shade and alt-folk light" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"Vibrant and danceable. Who says dark can’t also be fun? Zen Ghost, which may be among the year’s best albums to date, is a highly recommended listen" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Penetrating psych-soaked post-punk... Brimming with their signature cinematic drama and that unforgettable voice" ~ Global Texan Chronicles

"Bombastic... a happy medium between the sonic atmosphere and thoughtful melancholy of post-punk music and the unmistakable drama of cabaret... as beautifully manic as some of the finest artists on America's early punk' scene" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"An inspiriting slice of post punk hued, new wave nurtured rock ‘n’ roll... under the skin and hungrily stirring the imagination in a flash" ~ Ringmaster Review

NYC-based postpunk duo Frenchy and the Punk present their new single 'If The World Doesn't End First', a love song wrapped in an impending apocalyptic scenario that is inspired by current events, past fears and the knowledge that, in the end, the things that don’t matter pass and the one thing that does remains.

This is a superb taste of their seventh album 'Zen Ghost', released via EA Recordings, following up high energy singles 'Mon Souvenir' and Siouxsie-esque 'Come In and Play'. Here, their shadowy sound takes an even darker turn towards the pair’s previously unexplored personal planes and interpretations of the insanity of our increasingly tumultuous age. Dark times make for dark songs.

Frenchy and the Punk is vocalist, percussionist and lyricist Samantha Stephensonand guitarist-composer Scott Helland, who was co-founder and bassist of Outpatients and also Deep Wound (along with Dinosaur Jr. founders J Mascisand Lou Barlow). Influenced by The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Blondie, Concrete Blonde and The B52’s, the duo thrive in their trademark blend of post-punk and dark folk music.

"I have a very clear memory of seeing the apocalyptic film ‘The Day After’ as a child and being totally traumatized by it. I had a recurring nightmare for months afterwards that I was running home during a nuclear war to die with my family, I didn’t want to die away from them. It was the Cold War, it felt like the end of the world was possible back then," says Samantha Stephenson.

"Extreme circumstances tend to put things in focus and in perspective. The past six years politically and culturally have been very intense. The pandemic felt like the culmination of years of social and cultural anxiety. There was a point where, after our US and European dates were all cancelled in 2020, we were trying to book some shows with the expectation that it would be possible again in early 2021 but the situation kept shifting. A promoter, suggesting a new possible show date, ended the email with ‘if the world doesn’t end first’. That phrase really hit me. It took me back and I started thinking about how all the trivialities and ridiculous things that we worry and stress about, things that in the end don’t matter, vanish in the face of survival and we are left with the one thing that does matter - love."

Tapped as one of the Top 25 duos in the US by Yahoo! Music, the freewheeling pair has released numerous recordings, including the acclaimed albums 'Happy Madness' (2010), 'Hey Hey Cabaret' (2012), 'Elephant Uproar' (2013), 'Cartwheels' (2014), 'Bonjour Batfrog' (2014) and 'Hooray Beret' (2019).

French-born, but raised in the UK and USA, Stephenson’s study of piano and dance ignited her eventual rejection of corporate conformity and fueled a quest to lead a truly autonomous life through art and music. A son of jazz-loving teachers, Helland grew up in Western Massachusetts and was a vital player on the region’s fertile early hardcore punk scene.

Helland and Stephenson met in NYC in 1998, when Stephenson spontaneously jumped on stage to accompany Helland during his solo guitar performance. The artistic union was immediate, powerful and undeniable. The two began to tour with fevered zeal, turning heads with their striking aesthetic, steadily building fervent fans on the mystical-folk/steampunk festival, coffeehouse, convention, and club circuits with their boisterous, revival-like live shows.

Over the years, they've performed live with Dead Can Dance's Peter Ulrich and Dresden Dolls' Brian Viglione, and opened for Thomas Dolby, Dinosaur Jr., The World Inferno Friendship Society, Rasputina, Cruxshadows, Hurray For The Riff Raff and The Young Dubliners.

The 'Zen Ghost' LP is out now and can be found across fine digital outlets, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. It is also available on CD via the band's website.

ROYAL THUNDER Release Powerful New Single “The Knife”

Announce January 2023

Concerts in NYC, Chicago & Atlanta

Atlanta-based rock band ROYAL THUNDER have returned with their first new track since the release of 2017’s Wick.

The trio of Mlny Parsonz (vocals, bass), Josh Weaver (guitar), and Evan Diprima(drums) have dropped a new single, titled “The Knife”, along with a music video.

A powerhouse of darting, bluesy riffs and booming, soulful vocals, “The Knife” re-introduces listeners to the visceral and spirited sound of Royal Thunder.

Fans can check out the music video for the song via the link below.

Speaking about returning to music and releasing their first new material in over five years,

Parsonz comments, “Coming out full throttle has filled my heart to the brim. Actually, I am exploding with joy! To feel like an outlet (music) was being ripped away from my existence, and finding myself here and now, holding it like a new born baby, brings me a sense of freedom and hope that I haven’t felt in years. To everyone, especially Josh and Evan, that has been there on this journey - thank you! Thank you for making this real again.”

Weaver adds, “It feels amazing to be back and doing something that has been a void in my life over the past few years. It’s a new opportunity to do this thing right. We are so thankful to have the overwhelming support of our fans and everyone that has ever believed in us! Very exciting and new things on the horizon for Royal Thunder.”

ABOUT SAUL:

Underdogs change the game. They turn the tables, defy expectations, and emerge victorious. SAUL's story is a classic underdog tale. The band quietly clawed its way out of the Midwest and into the national limelight with 6 million-plus streams and the endorsement of tastemakers such as Revolver, Guitar World, Loudwire, and many more.

The Iowa quartet — brothers Blake Bedsaul [lead vocals] and Zach Bedsaul [lead guitar, backup vocals], William McIlravy [bass, backup vocals], and Myles Clayborne [drums] — embodied this timeless tale on their 2020 full-length debut, 'Rise As Equals' [Spinefarm]. To date, the record has racked up over 40 million streams.

As early believers already know, SAUL have been grinding steadily since 2017, sharing stages with the likes of Bush, Fuel, 10 Years, HELLYEAH, and Nonpoint over time.

Musically, they perfected the elusive balance between jackhammering polyrhythmic guitars and sweeping melodies. In 2019, the four-piece independently catapulted the single "Brother" (dedicated to their late brother Caleb) to #1 on Sirius/XM Octane, as it took over airwaves across the country. Within a year, it eclipsed 3.7 million Spotify streams and 1.3 million YouTube views.

SAUL next partnered with Spinefarm for 'Rise As Equals' and eventually unleashed "King of Misery", which went on to become a Top 20 single at rock radio. The musicians co-wrote the track with Disturbed front man and rock legend David Draiman over Zoom during quarantine.

The band also teamed up with powerhouse songwriter Erik Ron [Godsmack, Panic! At The Disco] on "Here And Now." Elsewhere, Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose hopped behind the throne for the syncopated shockwaves of "Inside." The album's title track also transmitted a message directly to the group's legion of fans, affectionately referred to as "Equals."

That's the SAUL story up until now.

New music and more touring are on the horizon for SAUL — 2023 looks to be their year!

SOEN RELEASE SINGLE & VIDEO FOR "FORTUNE

UPCOMING RELEASE 'ATLANTIS'

- AN ALTERNATE UTOPIA -

OUT THIS WEEK!

NORTH AMERICAN DATES START NOVEMBER 22

Today, the engaging, enchanting, cutting, yet beautiful Swedish metal supergroup Soenrelease the enchanting video for the single “Fortune”. The track is taken from the forthcoming release ATLANTIS, out via Silver Lining Music this week on November 18, 2022.

Musically, “Fortune” is epically heavy with its crushing riffs and percussion, yet delicate with haunting vocal phases and an outstanding guitar solo, all whilst carrying a poignant story and message.

Founding members Martin Lopez and Joel Ekelöf comment "'Fortune' is a song about getting beaten up by life, falling down again and again, but getting back up regardless. In this specific case, it is about seeing a loved one face the obstacles that you have faced, letting them know that things will eventually get better and that you have got their back no matter what.”

Watch/Listen to "Fortune"

ATLANTIS is a special concert film featuring thirteen of the group’s most popular compositions reinterpreted with live orchestral accompaniment. ATLANTIS was created within the mystic and magical confines of Atlantis Grammofon Studio in Stockholm, Sweden, which has seen a wide range of international artists record, from Quincy Jonesto Lenny Kravitz to Green Day. Formerly a movie house in 1941, it went on to become Metronome Studio (during which time ABBA was born) before becoming Atlantis Grammofon in 1983.

Filmed and recorded on December 10th 2021, Martin Lopez (drums & percussion), Joel Ekelöf (lead vocals), Lars Enok Åhlund (guitars & piano), Cody Lee Ford (lead guitar) and Oleksii “Zlatoyar” Kobel (bass) worked together with an 8-piece orchestra to reinterpret and rediscover fresh energy and elements in classic Soen songs, such as “Antagonist”, “Monarch”, “Jinn” and “Lucidity”, as well as introducing a stunning interpretation of Slipknot’s deeply dark meditation on darkness rejecting love, “Snuff”. The end result of this 80 minutes performance is some remarkable new aural refractions of Soen’s greatest material for fans to absorb and enjoy. As has always been the way with Soen: the deepest dives yield the greatest treasures.

SYLVAINE Unveils New Music Video for "Everything Must Come to An End"

Norwegian multi-instrumentalist SYLVAINE is now revealing a brand new music video for the song, "Everything Must Come to An End," which is taken from her latest opus, 'Nova!' The video, which was created by William Lacalmontie, can be found below.

SYLVAINE comments on the video: "This song…. There’s always at least one track on every album that resonates extremely deeply with me every time I revisit it in any way and 'Everything Must Come To An End' is definitely one of those on "Nova". It was the first song written for 'Nova' yet was somehow a prediction of what life would become shortly after. The whole album is colored by the emotions expressed in this specific track, especially regarding the impermanence of all. An emotionally heavy conclusion to an album that was awfully hard to make, 'Everything Must come To An End' is a track I'm not sure I'll ever be able to perform live, hence why I wanted to give people a chance to see some sort of performance of it. Director and creator William Lacalmontie captured a perfect, intimate balance between heartbreaking and heartwarming in this video, something I feel extremely grateful for. He managed to create a visual that perfectly embraces every aspect of this song."

The video release is in conjunction with SYLVAINE's forthcoming headlining European tour, which kicks off on December 7 in her hometown of Oslo (NO)! The full itinerary can be found below!

SYLVAINE is supporting the release of her brand new fourth studio album, 'Nova,' which is out NOW! In addition, the previously sold-out vinyl is now repressed and back in stock in the blueberry marble color! Stream/download/order HERE.

SYLVAINE has just launched her very own signature tea in collaboration with BrutaliTeas! "Apples Aligned, Coming Undone" is an apple crème brulée loose leaf tea created with ceylon black tea, gunpowder green tea, apple pieces, cinnamon, natural candy apple and crème brulée flavors, rose hips, rose petals, and marigold flowers and comes just in time for the autumn season! The tea can be ordered HERE and will also be available on SYLVAINE's merch table for the upcoming EU tour!

Additional details for the tea can also be found HERE.

To speak to Sylvaine, the one-woman multi-instrumentalist, bandleader, and composer born Kathrine Shepard, is to speak to some spirit that exists beyond the veil of convention and stereotypes. This is not a woman playing to the vogue dark melodic folklorist trope that has become so prevalent in the metal scene but rather, this is a woman who is a serious and classically trained composer and arranger whose songs, that originate on unplugged electric guitars in lavender and black bedrooms, end up exploding against the unlimited conventions of what modern music can accomplish.

For some time, Kathrine Shepard has been seen as the petite pixie of the Norwegian black gaze scene but her small eleven features and lightheartedness belie the woman warrior behind Nova, her complex and personal fourth release. Following her 2018 Atoms Aligned Coming Undone release, Sylvaine (a play on the name of one of her beloved French poets, Paul Verlaine) gives us Nova, an album that is both a musical and personal reawakening of a singer/composer finding her way in this world.

The Lord of the Rings type choir arrangement heralds in the opening of her latest release as we the entranced listeners follow her to the realm of Lothlorien. The creation of this ambitious release began in 2019, before the world changed before all of our eyes. Experiencing a personal loss in a time the world was suffering a collective loss, Sylvaine composed on her guitar and wrote in her notebooks, eventually leading her into the small rooms of Drudenhaus in early 2021. Sequestered away in the countryside of France, the Norwegian native and her musical cohorts would all contract Covid. Asthmatic since birth, our heroine isolated herself in a small room to score out the different soprano and alto melodies of an actual choir to make her vision for the opening track “Nova,” come to life. Sung in an imagined language, the syllables of NO-VA continued to emerge, suggesting to the singer something linguistically symbolic and important.

“I’ve been wanting to write a choir piece since my 'Wistful' days,” she says, “Just a purely vocal piece. I love harmonies and the most personal instrument you have is yourself, your voice. I wanted to really show who I am this time around.”

Naked on the cover, which may raise some eyebrows, Sylvaine insists to her fans that this is a symbol of her own vulnerability and personal rebirth that transpired over these years of creating Nova. “Nova" in terms of language is connected to words such as nuova (Italian) or nueva (Spanish), meaning ‘new’ and speaks to a rebirth, to loss, the temporality of life, grieving as nothing lasting forever, but looking forward as new doors are forever opening.

Album tracks “Mono No Aware” and “Fortapt” are compositions in the 10-minute range, showing the progressive skills of the multi-instrumentalist’s musical mastery and magic. Taking the loud and quiet back-and-forth of the ‘90s a step farther, she manages to haunt every note with primal sincerity. “Fortapt” is a particularly unique track, paying homage to Sylvaine’s Norwegian roots. And while critics may want to pin a song like “Nowhere, Still Somewhere” in the shoegaze or dreampop category, her mysterious resonance adds something to the composition that makes Sylvaine’s work defy categorization.

Much like Joan of Arc, Sylvaine is not a one-woman army without her legionaries. Instead of enlisting members of the folk metal glitterati, she has been a bit more selective about her surprise guests on her album, choosing Scottish violinist Lambert Segura of SAOR and cellist Nostarion aka Patrik Urban, whom she met while performing a very special acoustic show in Belgium in 2019. For Sylvaine, it felt emotionally appropriate to weave classically trained instrumentalists into her work, demonstrated on the last track on the album, "Everything Must Come to an End."

Unlike so many of the pixie dream girls haunting the American metal landscape right now, Sylvaine sings but also screams from the very depths. There is absolutely no one in the metal game right now who can match her vocal range, which traverses from the elvish sounds of Enya and Lisa Gerard to the black metal Ericthro screeches of her kvlt counterparts of the land of ice and snow.

In the U.S., we have a tendency to clarify bedroom pop as music that is composed in the feminine space of one’s bedroom confines. Although orchestral and incredibly composed, Sylvaine does not shy away from admitting her songs always start bare bones—almost all of her compositions begin with an unplugged electric guitar. “A melody and a chord progression should be able to stand on its own without any effects whatsoever. The song will go on to manifest itself in different ways but that main guitar part has to be solid enough to emotionally work just by itself, “ she says.

But to this lover of Verlaine and the French Romantic poets (as well as a diehard Type O Negative fan), the written word is still paramount to her heart. After all, she explains, “Music is an attempt to avoid the words we can’t always express in life.”

Fencer Announce Self-Titled Debut Album & Release "Joseph Courtney" Single Out Now Via Blood Blast Distribution

The Los Angeles based rock trio, Fencer, have today announced their long awaited self-titled debut album, set to drop on February 3rd, 2023 via Blood Blast Distribution. This marks the band's first self-produced release, composed of 10-tracks and what is considered to be their most authentic work yet. Fans can pre-save the album here.

The album announcement is accompanied by the release of their latest single "Joseph Courtney." You can stream "Joseph Courtney" here. You can also watch "Joseph Courtney" LIVE at Jam In The Van below.

Speaking on today's album announcement, vocalist Field Cate shares:

"We are excited to announce our self-titled debut album, "Fencer". This was entirely produced, written, and performed by the three of us. Every sound, every decision, every minute detail. It was all Cameron, Scott, and I. It's Fencer through and through and this is the record we wanted to make. Heavy, soft, silly, sad, raw, emotional. Very blue. We will forever be proud of this project and these songs because it's just us. And it's been all ours for so long, the idea of release something so intimate is really weird. But I'm glad people will be able to hear what we spent those countless hours doing all alone in our little lockout. I hope it invokes some kind of feelign in you when you hear it, whatever that is. It's important to feel."

Speaking on the brand new track,"Joseph Courtney,", vocalist Field Cate continues:

"Oh, well hello! Meet Joseph Courtney. He's angry, sexy, and utterly intense. Able to control a crowd and thrive off the attention. He's a star. Someone and something I aspire to be. A concept that cures my insecurities and allows me to lose a bit of sanity. I like that. He's my alter ego. Why deal with cards I've been dealt when I can just pretend to be someone else? He's perfect. He's Joseph Courtney. You love him."

Not only was "Joseph Courtney" and the upcoming album self-produced, but it was mixed by Henry Lunetta (5 Seconds Of Summer, State Champs, Grayscale) and mastered by Zach Fisher (Weezer, Rancid, Bad Religion). Prior to today's release, Fencer had previously dropped tracks "Junebug""Sanitarium", and a cover of Morphine's "Buena" which had racked up over 1.5 million listens across all streaming platforms. Be sure to stay tuned for more Fencer news coming soon.

Los Angeles fans also have the chance to see Fencer LIVE at Harvard & Stone on Thursday, December 1st, courtesy of Breaking Sound LA.

Wizard Puffs bringing crunchy, sweet, and swirly sounds, Karate Baseball bringing Indie Rock vibes, Sonic Apparitionsbringing a rock/distortion sound, and most importantly - Fencer bringing fuzzy, manic garage opera.

This is a lineup surely not to be missed.

Chronologically speaking, while Graham Brooks falls into the generational social construct known as “the millennial,” in actuality the Barishi guitarist/vocalist is an old soul, wise and talented beyond his years. Sure, he’s got an all-in-one cellular device in his pocket like just about everyone else on the planet, but you’ll rarely find him obsessively staring into it unless necessary. He was scouring used book and record stores for classics long before it was deemed cool by the hipsters of his cohort and when it comes time to actually listening to his vinyl finds – instead of mounting them for show or posting “Look at what I bought” online missives – he prefers lengthy, involved and protracted pieces of music in direct opposition to the quick fixes required to sate the miniscule attention spans of kids these days.

Furthermore, when Brooks’ name comes up in conversation, a soon-to-be classic yarn quickly follows: last year, he was asked to provide a guest spot solo record on Cable’s Take the Stairs to Hell album. Instead of utilizing modern and available technology and facelessly recording and emailing in his contribution, the worryingly tall gentle giant drove five hours non-stop from his home in central Vermont to a Boston recording studio, laid down his solo in a matter of minutes then almost immediately got back in his car and drove the five hours home. Without a hint of self-consciousness or ironic arrogance, he’ll divulge, “I definitely have an interest in old stuff. I guess people would call me an atavist. I like to read about archeology and history and old empires and stuff like that. I remember hearing someone talk about the fleeting nature of smoke and its age throughout time and that seemed interesting to me.”

This is the launch pad for Barishi’s newest album, Old Smoke. The Green Mountain State metallic shape-shifters’ third album roils along with feet in both the distant past and foreseeable future. The record is a fulcrum for the conglomeration and combination of metal from black, progressive, doom and sludge subgenres aligned with a variety of rock musics, including classic, roots, Americana and indie. For Barishi, there are no sonic barriers, no musical borders, everything is welcome and the result of throwing all available ingredients into a melting pot to create a powerful sum of parts. It’s a notion that grizzled urbanites and dichotomous us-against-them thinkers might view as achingly naive or treacherously liberal, but in the alchemical context of novel robustness emerging from the distillation of the best of disparate parts, Old Smoke exists as a beacon of light and strength. This is something Brooks attributes not only to the experience the band has gained since forming in 2010, but also the isolation of growing up as hopeful metalheads in rural Vermont.

As a pre-teen, Brooks’ family moved him to the tiny village of West Dover in order to live and eventually work on the family farm, where he lives and works to this day. While precociously and proudly sporting an Iron Maiden shirt at the grocery store one day, he was spotted by, and became friends with, Dylan Blake and the two joined forces when they ended up at the same high school in town.

“Dylan was known around as a drum wizard, I played guitar and [bassist] John [Kelley] got into metal a little later, but we were always friends so we just started rocking out together and have just stuck with it.

“Early on, we didn’t know anybody or how to get shows until this guy in Burlington started running this thing called Metal Mondays at a club called Nectars, which is the place Phish got their start at,” he says about the band’s primordial age. “That was where we were able to become a little more professional, figure out what we were doing and what we wanted to do. But Vermont’s cool because it’s so isolated and because there’s not a lot to do people come out to metal shows. Some old hippie will come out and have a great time just because that’s what’s happening in town. It’s small enough that there are no scene politics with this genre of kids versus that genre of kids; if there’s a show, people go to it. I think that attitude has allowed us to do our own thing while playing to everybody. Once in a while I’ll talk to somebody from a big city and they’ll mention the woes of trying to play to fans of a certain subgenre and how it never goes over. We don’t really have that in Vermont.”

Originally an instrumental band called Atlatl, the band joined forces with vocalist Sascha Simms and switched to the Barishi moniker in 2012. The then-quartet recorded and self-released a self-titled album in 2013 which caught the eye and ear of the likes of Decibel, Metal Hammer, New Noise, and, most importantly, Season of Mist. Being offered a recording contract slathered the Barishi camp in surprise (“We had done a fair bit of DIY touring, but it wasn’t like we were the big local band or had any buzz at all”) and sparked a growing ambition which begat the band’s 2016 album, Blood from the Lion’s Mouth. Shortly after the debut’s release though, Simms and the band parted ways which put Barishi in a holding pattern for a few months until they decided to stop looking for a replacement and fill the position internally.

“We tried a few other singers until I ended up grabbing the vocal reins. There weren’t hordes of disappointed fans or protesting crowds of Sascha loyalists,” Brooks says with a self-deprecating laugh, “so it made it easier to make the sort of identity change that most bands would worry about. Plus, it was hard to find people willing to give up as much as you have to and put in the work to be in a band.”

Once they traversed the hurdle of Simms’ departure, the now-trio discovered a new side of the band. Now that they didn’t have to concern themselves with what to do with a vocalist during lengthy instrumental parts, the songs got longer, more exploratory, grandiose and epic. Add on to that the fact that Old Smoke was gestated over a three year period and it becomes clear why this album brims with a monumental magnanimity.

“Not having a vocalist meant we could do our thing a little more. This was also the first time we demo-ed things extensively and through that process I was able to get a better perspective on the songs and shape them a little bit more towards something we’d want to listen to. I remember having a conversation with a friend about our shared love of Iron Maiden and one of us said something about Maiden being one of those bands that, when you put on a song, you instantly feel like you’re going on a quest. I thought that was bad ass and really wanted to write songs that could be considered ‘quest-worthy.’ I’d say that was a big thing when we were writing these songs: writing longer songs that went somewhere without making them seem cumbersome.”

Despite the excellence of Old Smoke, Barishi is humble and fully cognizant of their position as low rung on the ladder at Season of Mist, in particular, and in the metal scene, in general. Brooks reveals without hesitation that “I’m still surprised we weren’t dropped after losing a charismatic frontman like Sascha,” and that “We’re still new to and nervous about playing big markets like NYC” despite recent tours with Weedeater and Tombs. But with tracks like the lassoed meandering of awesome album opener “The Silent Circle,” the sinister black metal/noise rock slashing of “The Longhunter” and the sky-opening prog-metal enormity of the title track leading the charge, Old Smoke is set to make an indelible mark on the metal scene; one dripping with passion for the art of progressive song writing, honest creative expression and the hunt for one’s individual voice while paying homage to the well-worn parts of record collections.

“A big goal we have is having the band catch up to our tastes in music. Sometimes people have good taste in music, but what they create doesn’t always reflect the quality of that taste. I like to think I have good taste in music and I think we’re starting to reflect that in the music we make. There are bands we really respect that can write super-long, beautiful songs you can listen to and it sucks if you get interrupted because you want to listen to the whole thing in one shot. We want to have songs like that, songs you look forward to listening to. We also want to have an enjoyable creative process in creating something that sits well with us; to make something that survives the long term and is a fair representation of the stuff we’re into.”

Old Smoke it is, then!

Miranda Lambert Earns Four GRAMMY Nominations, Bringing Career Total to 27

Reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year Also Nominated for Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance & Best Country Duo/Group Performance

Three-time GRAMMY winner Miranda Lambert added to her impressive tally of 23 previous nominations with four new nods, earning a nomination in each of the Country categories for the 2023 ceremony: Best Country Album, Best Country Song, Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Duo/Group Performance.

“I’ve always viewed a GRAMMY Award as one of the highest honors you can achieve as an artist,” notes Lambert. “I think back to creating these songs with some of my closest friends, not knowing where those writing sessions would lead, and it blows me away to see where they’ve taken us. These nominations are an absolute honor and I’m so proud to be representing the Country music community with this music that means so much to me.”

Best Country Album nominee Palomino arrived in April as the largest female Country album debut of 2022, produced by Lambert alongside Luke Dick and Jon Randall. Already named among the best albums of the year by TIME, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum and more, it marks the latest installment in a storied career that has spanned seven previous No. 1 solo albums, 10 No. 1 singles, more than 70 prestigious awards and countless sales certifications, earning the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year praise from NPRas “the most riveting country star of her generation.”

With Pitchfork declaring that she “manages the hat-trick of both timelessness and timely activism” by challenging conventional gender notions in her Best Country Song nominated “If I Was A Cowboy” (awarded to the songwriters: Lambert and Jesse Frasure), the Texas native continues to expand the tent of the Country genre via her music.

In His Arms,” nominated for Best Country Solo Performance, was originally featured on 2021’s GRAMMY-nominated The Marfa Tapes, a raw and intimate recording with collaborators Jack Ingram and Jon Randall. It was reimagined on Palomino, with Paste celebrating the reimagined song “now wrapped in gauzy guitars and echo” and Variety declaring that her “lovelorn vocal floats alongside gossamer brushstrokes of pedal steel and organ, producing a perfect little slice of nocturnal melancholy, all the more effective for resisting the urge to reach for the rafters.”

Lambert co-wrote Best Country Duo/Group Performance nominee “Outrunnin’ Your Memory” with Luke Combs (whom she sings with on the duet) and Dan Isbell, with the Tennessean declaring, “with a restless, road-worn chorus led by two of Country music’s favorite voices, the song leaves a can’t-miss mark.”

Also nominated for Favorite Female Country Artist at this Sunday’s American Music Awards, the top streaming female Country artist of 2022 was also named to the 2022 TIME100 list honoring the world’s most influential people, and her headlining Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency is underway now at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Zappos Theater.

New York City has always served as a cultural epicenter for musical innovation. Even more so than incubating genres in their infancy such as hardcore and even glam metal, for which bands like Twisted Sister and KISS long set the stage before the Sunset Strip took the reigns, the empire state has a storied and unique history of taking genres whose roots lie elsewhere and making them its own; whether it be Anthrax reinventing Bay Area thrash, Suffocation and Immolation planting their flag as death metal purveyors at a time when it was a primary export of Florida, or bands like Blondie and the Ramones rivaling the British punk scene, the city has always been at the forefront of musical excellence. And when it comes to New York’s answer to black metal, Black Anvil have not only been a driving force for USBM, but have taken the black metal genre as a whole and made it entirely their own. Now, with full-length number five, the band has once again leveled up their game, presenting a “regenesis” of black metal.

Here you have 12 tracks of unrelenting yet thought provoking evil, sure to have you take a second & thoroughly re-examined view of what you thought black metal was supposed to be. “This is a more stripped down and aggressive song writing approach. Having time to digest ‘As Was,’ to understand where we were then versus where we are now was key. We always focus inward with our writing, never wanting to repeat ourselves, while also not losing our identity in a stretch to sound different,” explains Black Anvil bassist/vocalist P.

Challenging the norm has always been a core part of Black Anvil’s DNA since their formation in 2007. Upon the release of their debut full-length, Time Insults the Mind, the band quickly garnered the attention of Relapse Records and were presented with a deal. When it came to album number two, the band diverged from the typical approach of their contemporaries and sought an unlikely counterpart to render their vision, tapping engineer “General” George Fullan (The Rolling Stones, Dream Theater) at Mark “The Animal” Mendoza’s (Twisted Sister) Diamond Drop Studio on Long Island, NY. Released in September 2010, sophomore offering Triumvirate received much critical acclaim, notably being revered as an "all-around monster metal album."

Four years after its release, Triumvirate was followed by Hail Death, a 70-minute journey of intensity that further established Black Anvil as a modern black metal powerhouse. The album was met with praise by publications including Noisey, Pitchfork, Stereogum, Metal Injection, and many more. With the album’s success, the band’s profile rose as they were tapped to participate in numerous prominent tours with black metal legends such as Mayhem, Watain, Urfaust, Marduk as well as dates with Aura Noir, Nachtmystium, Immortal, Eyehategod, Cannibal Corpse, etc. Additionally, the band has appeared at various prestigious festivals including the Scion Rock Fest, Beyond The Gates in Bergen, Norway and the renowned Roadburn Festival in The Netherlands.

In 2017, Black Anvil dropped their fourth studio-album, As Was. Atmospheric and melodic without relenting on any of the ferocity that the collective has always been known for, As Was seamlessly weaves through eight monumental passages of extreme metal art, more diverse, complex, and thought-provoking than anything they've done before. The record proved itself to be a stellar representation of modern black metal and of Black Anvil’s continuous progression and songcraft.

Now, nearly six years after As Was made its mark, Black Anvil is returning with its aptly titled fifth full-length, Regenesis. With a new record label, a new album, and a newfound exploration of dark and black metal, Regenesisrepresents a new dawn for the New York City collective. “The concept is renewal, as well as the process/journey to get here outgrowing our past,” explains P. “Black Anvil has always been a departure from our past, a vehicle for us to grow as individuals, like a snake constantly shedding its skin. We don’t look  back, but never forget.”

Make no mistake, Regenesis is not a departure from Black Anvil’s identity, but rather serves as the latest progression in the band’s ever-evolving sound. The record takes what As Was did best and does it even better. The unrelenting and polished aggression hangs in the balance above dark melodic passages, presenting a dynamic soundscape that serves as the band’s most devastating and existential offering to date. As it’s evident that the band pulls inspiration from unlikely corners, they defy all genre standards and make one thing clear - this isn’t just black metal, this is NYBM.

Ashley McBryde Earns Two GRAMMY Nominations Including Third Nod for Best Country Album

ASHLEY McBRYDE EARNS TWO NOMINATIONS FROM
THE RECORDING ACADEMY

Nods for Best Country Album and Best Country Duo/Group Performance
Mark Her Fifth and Sixth GRAMMY Nominations

With Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, Arkansas Native Receives
Third Consecutive Nomination for Best Country Album

Grand Ole Opry Induction Set for December 10

“Artists laboring in isolation devising complex ways to present precise little songs of innocence and experience...Welcome to Lindeville.” –
NPR

Set to become the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry next month and praised by the Los Angeles Times as “one of Nashville’s most emotionally incisive songwriters with a voice that can channel pain as vividly as defiance,” Ashley McBryde continues adding triumphs to her milestone year as she earns her fifth and sixth GRAMMY nominations with Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her chart-topping duet “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Carly Pearce and her third nomination for Best Country Album for her critically acclaimed project Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, which marked her third major label studio release via Warner Music Nashville.

“I’m so proud to be able to share these nominations with so many friends and collaborators – for a duet we wrote and took to No. 1 with Carly and the entire cast of Lindeville, where we gave ourselves the opportunity to change the approach and make decisions based solely on serving the songs,” shares McBryde. “I’ve always said that recognition from the Recording Academy and joining the Grand Ole Opry are the two best things that could ever happen to you as an artist, so here I stand just in awe of this moment. It’s such an honor to be right here right now. And especially in such good company.”

Cited by NPR as “a mischievous, and mightily pleasing, departure from the prescribed progression of a mainstream country career,” Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville was produced by John Osborne and features performances from Brothers Osborne, Brandy Clark, Aaron Raitiere, Pillbox Patti, Caylee Hammack and Benjy Davis, as AP observes, “McBryde and crew created detail-rich storylines with a John Prine level of empathy and compassion.”

“The very existence of an album like Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville is enough to restore your faith in Nashville, however far afield it might have wandered,” Variety boasts, making it “Country music’s most ambitious and oddball album in recent memory,” emphasizes Esquire.

Celebrated by Rolling Stone as “one of Nashville’s most exciting new exports, an ace songwriter who is also an ace singer and performer,” McBryde “has made abundantly clear over the course of her short but fruitful career, she is principally interested in peeling back the layers and speaking the truth,” asserts Vulture.

Summed up by Stereogum, “There’s a whole lot of beautiful writerly vision at work on Lindeville, but it wouldn’t matter if the songs weren’t great. Guess what? The songs are great… A lot of people put a lot of work into this record, and they made something that resonates on a deep, emotional level. Give it up for them.”

“When it comes out,” McBryde shared with Esquire, “I hope everybody laughs a little bit and I hope everybody says ‘What the f*ck?’ a little bit. Sometimes you look and realize, this town is such a mess, everybody here is a disaster. And in the same breath, in that same three minutes, everybody’s okay. And I love those times. Sometimes I wish I could make that stand still a little bit longer—we’re all a disaster, and it’s beautiful. And that’s true whether it’s a small town or a big city.”

Last week, McBryde was joined by Clark, Hammack, Patti and Osborne on the CMA stage for a rousing rendition of “When Will I Be Loved” after winning Musical Event of the Year for her No. 1 duet with Pearce “Never Wanted To Be That Girl.” Watch the “When Will I Be Loved” performance below.

In 2023, McBryde invites you to the revered Ryman Auditorium to experience Ashley McBryde Presents: LindevilleLive, featuring the cast of collaborators and special guests performing songs from her critically acclaimed album, February 15 and 16. Tickets are available at AshleyMcBryde.com.

Paying homage to the radio programs of yesteryear, McBryde confirms Stereogum’s observation of the ringleader: “Here’s someone who loves and respects the age-old storytelling traditions of country music and who wants to find strange new ways to honor those traditions.”

About Ashley McBryde
CMA and ACM award winner Ashley McBryde cut her teeth playing country songs in rural biker bars – and it shows. Her 2018 major label debut Girl Going Nowhere (Warner Music Nashville) charmed the New York Times, NPR, Rolling Stone, Paste, The Washington Post and more, all en route to landing a GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album. McBryde closed out 2019 with ACM New Female Artist, CMT Breakout Artist of the Year, a New Artist of the Year win at the 53rd Annual CMA Awards and two nominations for the 2020 GRAMMYs for Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance for “Girl Goin’ Nowhere.” Her follow-up Never Will was tagged by Rolling Stone as one of the most anticipated of the year alongside NPR, who also ranked her Top 10 RIAA Platinum-Certified single “One Night Standards” as one of the best songs of 2019. Produced once again by Jay Joyce, Never Will reveals the witty, confessional, detail-driven songwriting addressing a wide spectrum of blue-collar Southern women’s experience introduced on Girl Going Nowhere is still here, but perhaps even sharper. The album earned McBryde a 2021 GRAMMY nomination for Best Country Album, making Never Will the only album nominated for Country Album of the Year by the ACMs, CMAs and the Recording Academy in the same award season. Her critically acclaimed duet with Carly Pearce, “Never Wanted To Be That Girl,” went all the way to No. 1 and earned McBryde and Pearce both the ACM and CMA award for Musical Event of the Year. The Arkansas-native invites listeners to Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville, a collaborative new project featuring Brothers Osborne, Brandy Clark, Pillbox Patti, Caylee Hammack, Aaron Raitiere and more. Praised by The New York Times as “a fluorescent carnival of pedal steel and thumping guitar that proves McBryde can be a skilled curator, as well as a performer,” Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville is available now. Tickets for the two-night special event Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville Live at Ryman Auditorium will go on sale Friday, Oct. 14. Dun Ringill Signs with The Sign Records & Release First Single ”Awakening”

Stream "Awakening" HERE

The Sign Records are happy to announce that Dun Ringill has joined the label for the release of their upcoming, double concept album 'Where the Old Gods Play Act 1 & 2'.

Formed in 2017 by current and former members of various groups including The Order of Israfel and Doomdogs, this Swedish six piece have developed their very own sound, where Nordic folk, doom and progressive metal meet mystical, storytelling lyrics.

Dun Ringill’s double concept album will be released as two separate albums during 2023 and 2024 respectively, and the first single "Awakening" is available on all streaming platforms November 11.

Dun Ringill on "Awakening":

"This opening song from our album starts off with the sound of the waves breaking against the shore with distant bagpipes being heard, before the heavy folky-doom takes the listener on a menacing dance between light and darkness. The bruised and scarred Lucia (the main character of this concept album), has just woken up on the seashore to start her unpredictable journey…

The storyline is set in 1904 on the Isle of Skye in Scotland where Lucia, with low self-esteem from her troubled past, meets a local church group which is led by a strong, charismatic and manipulative individual.

The music of the album carefully reflects the main story which unfolds. Behind the dramatic backdrop of the Scottish Highlands, we follow Lucia’s dark inner journey which will form her personality and mind, leading to her Awakening."

Dun Ringill biography:

Dun Ringill started in 2017 as a dark and doomy project with Nordic folk influences, creating music with big harmonies and presenting them with lyrics directly from the land of evil and darkness within the creative mind of bassist Winberg. This quickly evolved into becoming something much bigger and, before long, the unique musical recipe of Nordic folk, doom and progressive metal would be born.

When The Order of Israfel took a one-year break from September 2017, the rhythm section of that band, Patrik Andersson Winberg (Bass) and drummer Hans Lilja (also in Lotus) grabbed the chance to create new music again together with Patrik's old band mate from the Doomdogs era, Tomas Eriksson (Intoxicate and ex Grotesque).

To make this exciting project of Dun Ringill as great as possible, the band teamed up with Gothenburg's fella musicians, guitarists Tommy Stegemann (Silverhorse), Jens Florén(also in Lommi & ex- live guitarist for Dark Tranquillity) and Patric Grammann (SFT, Neon Leon).

In Autumn 2020, a line-up reshuffle was made with experienced drummer Neil Grantjoining the group after Hans Lilja left. This addition would prove to be influential in pushing their musically boundaries even further by not only adding a progressive oddity to the mix, but simultaneously delving even deeper into the folk and heavy doom and metal worlds which the band already use as their playground.

As a follow up their two highly acclaimed albums 'Welcome' and 'Library of Death' (with average reviews of over 8/10 for both albums), the band toured with acts like Church of Misery, Year of The Goat and Elder they also played festivals like Headbangers Open Air and Gloomy days to name just a few.

The release of their new album will be an adventurous double concept album, released as two single albums via The Sign Records, is based on a movie script written by Patrik Andersson Winberg (bassist and main songwriter in DR) and Jonas Granath (teacher in religion and literature). Contact has been made with movie producers who have shown great interest in the script thus far. More info to follow later this year. The story (based in Scotland in early 1900) centers around the manipulation of the church with a priest whose secret agenda only reveals itself at the end.

Dun Ringill are:

Thomas Eriksson – Vocals (Also in Intoxicate and Ex-Grotesque and Doomdogs)

Neil Grant – Drums (Ex- End of Level Boss and RAAR)

Patrik Andersson Winberg – Bass (Ex the Order of Israfel and Doomdogs)

Jens Florén – Guitar (Also in Lommi and ex live guitarist for Dark Tranquillity)

Tommy Stegemann – Guitar (Ex Silverhorse)

Patric Grammann - Guitar (Ex Southern Festival Train and Neon Leon)

Åskväder Returns with New Single & Music Video for "Cyclops”

STREAM "Cyclops" HERE

Åskväder returns with the single and music video "Cyclops". The single is the first new music from the Swedish group since their second studio album 'Fenix' was released in March earlier this year, and offers an energetic mixture of Scandinavian garage rock, catchy hooks and bluesy licks.

"Cyclops” is the first of two new tracks which Åskväder recorded during the second half of 2022. The single is released together with a music video made by Carl Stenlöv.

Åskväder on "Cyclops":

"Our idea was to create a fast-paced track with some great dynamics to it and of course also add our signum - hooks, groove and hooks. Our goal for the buildup of the song is that the listeners should be compelled, through the duration of this gem, to raise their fists in the air and start head banging.  We are deeply troubled by the recent events in the world such as the ongoing war and injustices taking place and 'Cyclops' is our effort to express our thoughts. The lyrical content is of great importance to us and it kind of wrote itself as it is a storm of feelings channeled through our music. We are proud of the results and hope you'll enjoy the track - we enjoyed every part of creating it."

"Cyclops” is out now on all streaming platforms. The single is released on The Sign Records.

Electrifying Swedish rockers Åskväder makes thunder and lightning through music. Well balanced seasoning to the sound of the 90s Scandinavian rock scene, mixed up with smoking hot riffs drenched in bluesy licks and catchy refrains. Add to this, hammering drum and bass grooves, with a topping of elaborate vocal harmonies.

While capturing some of the influences from the legends of our time such as The Hellacopters and Turbonegro, Åskväder manages to stay in their own lane, creating their own style of rock for a new decade.

Åskväder is Swedish and translates to 'Thunderstorm'.

That says it all. No fuss, just straight Rock 'n' Roll.

Hailing from the west coast of Sweden, Åskväder released their debut EP 'Quick Fixes'in 2018. In 2020, the band joined forces with The Sign Records for the release of their debut, self-titled studio album.

In 2022, Åskväder returns with their second full-length effort, 'Fenix'. The new album takes the Åskväder sound heard on the debut album to a new level.

Mixed by Kalle Lilja & Per Stålberg (Welfare Sounds), who truly put an intense vibe to the album.

Åskväder was formed in 2018 and consists today of Kammo Olayvar with his lightning speed bass grooves, Tim Ferm on drumrolls, Albin Sörensson on lead vocals and Martin Gut bending guitar strings and singing harmonies.

Look out for Åskväder!
