In 2006, power couple Aimee and Chris Kurtz started building their ad agency in “the backstage of the world” in Lititz, PA . It has rapidly grown into the leading ad agency in multiple industries besides entertainment, including healthcare, automotive and even restaurants. The Virtual Talking Record Label made history when Sammy Hagar and the Circle flew in to Lititz, PA, in April of this year (2022) to film four music videos in ONE day at the "backstage of the world," Rock Lititz, a massive campus that includes multiple facilities to help fuel the innovative and creative mind. This is something that has never been done before, especially on a shoe string budget. VTMC's mission is to create historic filmaking in never before used spaces.

On July 29, 2022, Sammy Hagar and the Circle released their single "Crazy Times" along with the video that was shot at Rock Lititz. The video can be seen below.

At a later date, Sammy Hagar and the Circle's homage to Elvis Costello's "Pump it Up" video will be released. The director at VTMC used similar angles to capture the essence of the original.

KARAMELIEN debuts single 'Ascension Heights' feat. YARDBIRDS legend TOP TOPHAM

UK-based soulful indie pop duo Karamelien present their debut single 'Ascension Heights', a laid-back and groovy summer tune inspired by and featuring Top Topham's track of the same name. While technically a new project, this soaring perfect pop offering actually has a rich and touching backstory.

Based in East Grinstead, Karamelien is made up of singer-songwriter Léanie Kaleido and guitarist Mark Foster - two long-time friends. The breezy heartened video, created by Eveshka Ghost, perfectly captures the elevated spirit of this song and its creators.

'Ascension Heights' samples the track of the same name by Léanie's father Top Topham, the original founding guitarist of The Yardbirds before Eric Claptonassumed his place. After all, while he may have been ahead of his years musically, he was actually just 15 and his parents wanted him to finish his Art studies. Topham would eventually sign to Mike Vernon's Blue Horizon record label as a solo artist. Much later, he also re-joined The Yardbirds for part of their 50th anniversary tour, which took place several years ago.

Produced by RIDE frontman Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound near Oxford, this song features an appearance by a special guest bassist - Mo Pleasure, formerly of Earth, Wind & Fire, whose CV also includes performances with Ray Charles, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson, among others.

"I met Mark Foster in my twenties through a mutual friend, when he started to play my songs live with me. My first album's title 'Karamelien' was made up as an anagram of both of our names’. I also like it as an artist name, so decided to go with it as Mark and I are now back playing together again," says Léanie Kaleido.

"We took my quirky but melodic songwriting style and introduced a more bass and beats-driven sound á la Morcheeba, Portishead, Massive Attack, etc. I'm just focusing on having fun with my songs now and drawing on my influences from both indie and hip hop, but always influenced by classic songwriters. such as Elton John and Joan Armatrading."

Indeed, this project brings Léanie Kaleido's music into new exciting territory. More firmly in singer-songwriter territory was her 2021 critically acclaimed album 'How To Weigh A Whale Without A Scale', also produced by Mark Gardener at OX4 Sound.

"Ascension Heights' is a really moving Father / Daughter work of beauty. A total pleasure and honour to work on... A hot tune for the hot summer for sure," says Mark Gardener.

With guidance from Paul Statham (Dido, Simple Minds, Kylie Minogue, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Rachel Stevens, Natalie Imbruglia) in sampling her father's track, Kaleido performed the pre-production work on this song from home, saying this "was a great feeling and allowed me more room to experiment with hip-hop beats".

KID KAPICHI REVEAL VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE "5 DAYS ON (2 DAYS OFF)"

Hastings-based four-piece Kid Kapichi have revealed brand new single "5 Days On (2 Days Off)" with an accompanying music video. Watch it below.

Frontman Jack Wilson explains, "'5 Days On (2 Days Off)' is an homage to some of our fans who work their arses off every day, then spend all their free money and time on going to gigs. Doing that is what gets them through."

The new album 'Here's What You Could Have Won' will be released on September 23 via Spinefarm. These 11 new songs are an excellent showcase for the band's bigger, punchier, "beat punk" sound, co-produced with Dom Craik from Nothing But Thieves. Featuring comeback single "New England" — their most explicitly political song yet, with a searing guest verse from Bob Vylan — and Partygatepolemic "Party at No. 10," which was praised by Liam Gallagher on Twitter, leading to Gallagher to ask the band to support him at London's Royal Albert Hall.

A behemoth of a band on and off stage thanks to the Hastings scene that nurtured them, Kid Kapichi's best songs explore racism, in-work poverty, mental health, violence, frustration, and all-consuming love with honesty and humor. All their songs come studded with barbed wire hooks, bristling with the juddering shock of lived experience, and the cathartic thrill of a balled-up fist relaxing into an air punch. 

"The title, 'Here's What You Could Have Won', sums up the feeling of missed opportunity,"says Wilson. "Being dragged right at a junction when you know you should be going left or screaming at the TV whilst someone picks the wrong answer on a game show. It looks inwardly at the UK and the decisions that have been made and how they have affected us all."

Lead guitarist Ben Beetham adds, "It's not a concept album but it does have a running theme. We like to write songs about current affairs and what direction the world seems to be turning. As a result, we write as close to the deadline as possible to keep it relevant."

BLACKRAIN Announce New Album 'Untamed' - Out November 25, 2022

Sometimes it takes a few years until a band finds that perfect sound they have in mind for their songs. For the new album ‘Untamed’ by the French Sleaze Rockers BlackRain, that’s exactly the case. Although already established as a band with their six previous releases and also very successful on tour (among others with Europe, Alice Cooper, Scorpions or Steel Panther), the quartet around singer Swan now presents a work that sets new quality standards in every aspect. “We love the powerful sound, the banging drums, this awesome mix of catchy melodies and aggression that permeates ‘Untamed’ from the very beginning,” bassist Matthieu de la Roche enthuses and goes on naming the producer of the new quality work: Hannes Braun, frontman of the German hard rockers Kissin` Dynamite and an important figure in sound engineering. De la Roche: “Hannes told us: ´I love your songs, your show really has excited me, I know exactly how your next record should sound!` Thanks to his help, we found the sound we’ve been looking for for ten years.”

The connection between the French group and their German producer was practically self-evident: BlackRain accompanied Kissin` Dynamite on their last European tour and they were friends for about a decade. “Kissin Dynamite was our support band in 2009 in a big gig in Paris. Now we are supporting them, and we are fine with this because it allowed us to cross Europe and catch a new public,” tells De La Roche. Out of this friendship sprang a fruitful collaboration. Swan, the singer and frontman: “I honestly don't know how Hannes managed it, but whenever I sent him a new song for review and mix, he found that perfect last piece of the puzzle to refine it.”

The ambition is palpable in ‘Untamed’, which will also be the first single/first video on July 29th, 2022. Three more songs will be released after the first single: ‘Summer Jesus’ will be released on August 26th, 2022, followed by ‘Neon Drift’ on September 30th (with a guest solo by Kissin` Dynamite guitarist Jim Müller), and ‘Kiss The Sky’ on October 28th, 2022. With ‘Untamed’ (the cover artwork is done by the Asian graphic artist Yellow Mushi) BlackRain has definitely created a small masterpiece!

Atma describes the (absolute) self, the indestructible, eternal essence of the spirit, and is often translated as the "soul". "Look, this is our 13th album," the band declares. "There's no other way to put it; Lies They Tell Our Children is the best fucking version of Anti-Flag we have ever been. We haven't been afforded the privilege and ability to spend every day together writing and focusing on every detail of an album in well over a decade and I think you can feel that collaboration and collectiveness in these songs more than any other record of ours. That collaboration was only extrapolated on with the inclusion of the eight guests who are featured on the album, spanning genres, years of friendship, and a vast array of perspectives."

Anti-Flag's tour will kick off on September 16 in Burlington, Vermont and run through November 6 with an appearance at Punk Rock in the Park in Silverado, California. The band will also head to Quebec for a trek with Vulgaires Machins and Mudie in November.

BELPHEGOR - New Album "The Devils" Out Now!

Diabolical black/death metal squadron BELPHEGOR have finally unleashed their new studio album called The Devils in its entirety. Their twelfth full-length proves to be one of the strongest and most elaborate records in the group’s career. Mixed & mastered at renowned Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren, The Devils sounds absolutely crushing and dynamic, sonically pushing the immense variety of the eight tracks to new heights.

Rounded off by impressive artwork created by Seth Siro Anton, The Devils marks the band’s fourth collaboration with one of metal’s most talented and prolific art workers. Ultimately, The Devils is an album that musically builds upon BELPHEGOR’s trademark sound, in essence, a combination of traditional death and black metal deeply rooted in the 90s, yet boasts intricate compositions and detailed arrangements underlining their outstanding position within the international extreme metal circuit.

Blending German, Latin, and English lyrics, the lead single "Totentanz – Dance Macabre" is as ferocious as it gets with its insane barrage of blast beats, spiteful lyrics, and sinister guitar melodies. "Glorifizierung des Teufels" (‘Glorification of the Devil’) and "Virtus Asinaria –Prayer" offer epic, mid-paced grandeur, chanted vocals, and choirs adding new shades of black to their stylistic palette. The title track or "Damnation – Höllensturz" proves to be a more complex piece, shifting moods and tempos with ease and expanding BELPHEGOR’s blasphemous onslaught with fascinating twists and turns.

Just a month removed from a pre-show surprise at their sold-out Red Rocks debut celebrating four new RIAA Gold and Platinum certifications, Whiskey Myers have unveiled the latest edition of what Esquirecelebrates as “straight-up, booze-swilling, highway-driving, heart-on-your-sleeve, blood-on-your-knuckles country music” with new album Tornillo, available everywhere now via the band’s own Wiggy Thump Records with distribution by Thirty Tigers. After spending 21 days isolated at the 2,300-acre Sonic Ranch studio deep in the heart of their native Texas, just miles from the U.S./Mexico border, the genre-bending band has doubled down on what they do best: sharing honest truths with no-holds-barred instrumentation, letting the self-produced music speak for itself. With today’s release of the 12-song album named for the border town that is home to the pecan orchard-filled recording complex, the six-piece has taken their solid decade-plus foundation and pushed themself to further explore new sonic landscapes.

Tornillo as a whole does exactly that, drawing as much inspiration from Nirvana as from John Prine – even adding the legendary McCrary Sisters’ gospel influence to the project on background vocals. With vocalist Cody Cannon leading the way on songwriting, the album also features writes from guitarist John Jeffers and fellow bandmembers Jamey Gleaves and Tony Kent, as well as rising singer/songwriter Aaron Raitiere (Anderson East, Oak Ridge Boys, A Star is Born). “Southern rock is alive and well on Whiskey Myers’ Tornillo – and it comes with a brassy border-town swagger,” adds Nashville Lifestyles in the July print issue on stands now. “Equal parts train songs, tenacious energy, and Tabasco… their lawless musicality burns like the sun.”

With the instrumental title track opener setting the horns-infused scene for the energy to follow, lead single and recent Texas regional radio chart-topper “John Wayne” follows as the first full song on the album as Cannon’s split-rail witness of life and survival emerges throughout the manifesto of music’s power to save. The surge and swagger, harmonica wails and wah-wah guitar solos suggest the momentum of outliers making a run for it, but a closer listen shows a band landing firmly in its own definitive space – never eschewing their roots; building on the influences a bunch of boys from Palestine, Texas twisted into an electric guitar-heavy sonic temple that reached across Skynyrd, The Stones circa “Heartbreaker,” Little Feat, J.J. Cale, Led Zeppelin, Waylon Jennings, The Black Crowes and ‘80s era Hank Jr.

Those guitars define the fury and the burn that gives Whiskey Myers its edge. From the hard-hitting take on spousal battery and retribution “Antioch” (celebrated by Billboard for its “gritty vocal that’s equal parts bite and vigor”) to the “Call Me The Breeze” evoking boogie of “Feet’s,” Tornillo starts hot, slinging truths about a world that goes down hard and is survived by those who can dig in and bring it every day – invoking Levon Helm, singing of Fallujah nights, embracing the Book of Revelation and seeking higher ground for working people through their churning guitars as much as the turning of the wheels that have carried them to over 2,500 live dates, making them one of the hardest touring bands in the world.

Live is how the only band to perform as part of the “Yellowstone” storyline connects, already selling over 250,000 tickets this year with sold out shows from coast to coast. Speaking truth to power, smoking that smoke, turning the intensity up and wiping away the blather of the media, they rage against the machine but also invoke vulnerability and a desire to outrun the dysfunction of our world. Whether it’s the larger priorities in a relationship coming apart slow jam “For The Kids,” the reckoning with mistakes and seeking grace on the haunted closer “Heart of Stone” or the passing knowledge earned and lessons learned on to one’s children “Other Side,” there’s wisdom and a desire for a better life.

“I’m not speaking for anybody, and I have no end goal,” reflects Cannon. “I’m just a musician, not someone qualified to tell anyone. But people do gravitate to songs they can connect to. Is it the melody? The lyric? Maybe it’s all of it. I just know you get older; you take things more seriously… Sometimes someone’ll tell me, ‘This song saved my life.’ The idea my song moved them so much it changed their life, you’re gonna go out and do the best you can because of that. There’s a lot of weight on your shoulders. But how can you complain about that?”

That weight is something Jeffers’ bucolic, almost lullaby “Heavy On Me” tackles directly. Confessional, he measures his life and family, plus his willingness to support everything that comes with it. It’s a song that’s as much divine surrender as facing what lies ahead. Jeffers also contributes the book-ending witness “Whole World Gone Crazy,” measuring the state of the union over a lean beat and guitar blurts that melt into a full-on band chorus.

“With this authoritative and impressive album, Whiskey Myers once again succeed in [pushing] limited borders wider with creativity and faith in their own substantial talents,” asserts Holler of the band’s ability to stretch the confines of traditional Southern rock. “With Tornillo, their recent burst of crossover popularity should be set to last.”

Bristol's groundbreaking electro-hop duo Ree-Vo present their debut album ‘All Welcome on Planet Ree-Vo’ - 10 tracks that punch with a mix of red-eyed paranoia and playful future funk - along with a limited edition 10" vinyl featuring collaborations involving NØISE, Object Object, Dälek and iconic industrial dancehall artist The Bug. with his remix of 'Protein'.

Ree-Vo is Andy Spaceland (AKA Andy Jenks) and T. Relly. Recorded, produced and mixed by Andy at Bristol's Christchurch Studios, known as the home of 'Mezzanine'-era Massive Attack, this album was tweaked and fine-tuned during the summer of 2020.

Ree-Vo also presents a fun and vibrant video for 'Spacebox', the album's hookiest track with a party throwing chorus spinning tipsy visitors around the intergalactic control booth of mission control.

This project really could only have formed in one city, steeped as it is in Bristol’s decades of less conventional hip hop and bass music. Heavily shaped by the local scene and artists synonymous with hip-hop and reggae’s cultural social commentary, such as the Bug and Flowdan, Nas, Kojey Radical, Rob Smith, Massive Attack, Big Cat Burns and Mantronix.

After art school (where Brian Eno was his examiner), Andy Spaceland got involved in bass music with Bristol's Static Sound System and a collaborative 12” with Rudy Tambala (AR Kane) as Sugarboat Vs Sufi, before his band Alpha signed to Massive Attack’s Melankolic label and he became their tour DJ. He has collaborated with Smith and Mighty, Horace Andy, Elizabeth Fraserand Madonna, and has released music on Dj Die’s label Gutterfunk as White Bully. Andy is also part of 5 Billion in Diamonds with LA producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Garbage) and is working on new material with Mark Stewart (The Pop Group), as well as Adrian Sherwood.

T. Relly is Bristol hip-hop royalty – known in the community variously for his links to all of the city’s major club nights, his passion and support for the most disadvantaged (through his work with the youth and prison leavers), through to compering stages at St Paul’s Carnival and his seminal 2018 album with DJ Rogue ‘Let Them Know’. He collaborates with many crews including Innalife and Killer Crab Men.

"Our sound has the life blood of sound-system bass culture carried through veins of hiphop and rave. I describe it like that BCuz it’s a live and living thing not just a sound, though essentially it is Bristol Dirt. Both me and Andy, as individuals, have very different sounds but as a duo, the sound for me is totally of one, which is Rare throughout collaborations. The sound just fits. It’s edgy, consciously upbeat and fun yet seriousness throughout - such as life," says T. Relly.

"This release has been a long time coming. Me and Andy met through a mutual friend and instantly became friends, when that shit happens the universe has already decided on something great happening. With that we never gave up on Ree-Vo throughout multiple frustrations, let downs and genre life getting in the way."

In spring of 2022, Ree-Vo released a limited 7" of the 'Spacebox' EP with stunning original artwork by Shepard Fairey (OBEY), featuring remixes by Batbirds (the duo of Joe Cassidy AKA Butterfly Child and Aaron Miller) and NØISE (the musical collective of Joe Cassidy, Shepard Fairey, Merritt Lear and John Goff). Earlier, Ree-Vo also released 'Combat' and a powerhouse remix of this track by iconic UK electronic music producer Surgeon (Tresor Records).

In April, the duo released the juggernaut ‘Groove With It’, growling out polemic against the relentless cacophony,, which T. Relly describes as “what I see in the struggle and ongoing battle, but also the resilience, humour, originality of people living in the system of seemingly two sides”. They've also unleashed the remix-based compilation 'Dial R for Ree-Vo'.

Chase Rice Previews Forthcoming Album With "Key West & Colorado" Out Now

With sold-out crowds already singing along to the unreleased song and preview clips garnering over 2.7 million views on social media, the eagerly-awaited full version of “Key West & Colorado” from multi-Platinum singer-songwriter Chase Rice is available everywhere now. Listen HERE.

“When we wrote ‘Key West & Colorado’ in Grayton Beach we weren’t necessarily planning on writing a song that day,” recalls Rice of the song’s origin. “We went out on Brian Kelley’s boat that day – it was me, him, John Byron, Blake Pendergrass, Corey Crowder and Hunter Phelps – and he told me that I’d actually posted about a trip I did from Key West to Colorado and he thought it’d be a cool title. Within less than a minute I twisted it to what the song turned into.”

The impromptu songwriting session was emblematic of Rice’s recent bout of creativity away from the traditional confines of Music Row, with the bulk of his forthcoming album written on trips with friends or alone with an acoustic guitar at his Tennessee farm. The shift in setting suited the man Billboard celebrates as “having storytelling details tumble from his lips, his portraits created quickly and efficiently,” with CMT noting, “The vocalist worked day in and day out to find the courage to knock down the wall he had kept up his entire career. Once he demolished the barricade holding him back, he left his heart and soul on the writing table.”

“The aspects of songwriting he’d always been naturally good at, he began to hone in on with more skill and attention,” adds Country Now. “Earlier songs like ‘Jack Daniels & Jesus’ and ‘Carolina Can’ proved Rice’s innate love of imagery-rich, potent songwriting, for example, but this time around, he dug his heels deeper than ever into that vivid storytelling style.”

With today’s release as a preview of the full-length project to come, Rice shares what he describes as “a story about a man trying to figure his life out – trying to figure out his past, trying to figure out his satiation with the breakup that he had or the woman that was in his life that he lost – and the trip that he took to help him along that journey.”

Not long after the spontaneous writing session that spawned ‘Key West & Colorado,’ the song quickly found its way into Rice’s live sets as a fan-favorite acoustic moment, particularly throughout the Blessed and Free Tour with Kane Brown earlier this year. Immediately after wrapping that run of shows, the man praised by American Songwriter as “one of country music’s most intriguing and lasting acts” hunkered down in his living room with producer Oscar Charles and Jordan Rigby to set up a makeshift recording environment, intent on capturing a new, raw sound unlike any of his previous studio projects.

“It felt really good to dive into recording with ‘Key West & Colorado’ translating right away from on stage to the studio,” explains Rice, “and it’s the perfect bridge from where I was to where this album’s going. We spent two weeks recording with no click track, a live band, no fake instrumentation at all – really getting in there and grinding and making it right. It’s been the craziest, coolest thing I’ve ever done since I’ve worked in music and I’m excited for people to hear it.”

Arista Records/Monument Records, the official music partner of FOX Entertainment’s highly anticipated new series, MONARCH – a new country music drama about America’s leading family of country music – has released the series’ second original cast performance, “American Cowgirl,” performed by the MONARCH Cast, featuring Golden Globe nominee Anna Friel (“Pushing Daisies”). FOX previously announced the series premiere with a two-night event, beginning Sunday, Sept. 11, immediately following the FOX NFL doubleheader (8:00-9:00 PM ET), and simultaneously to all time zones. It then makes its time period premiere Tuesday, Sept. 20(9:00-10:00 ET/PT).

Produced by three-time GRAMMY Award nominee and series executive music producer Adam Anders and co-produced by Peer Åström; written by Adam Anders, Heather Morgan and Casey Brown, “American Cowgirl” is a song that captures both the spirit of the show and speaks to the complicated relationship between the mother and daughter duo of country music’s first family, Dottie and Nicky Roman. “We wanted the song ‘American Cowgirl’ to feel like an American classic, but fresh and current at the same time. It had to embody both Dottie and Nicky Roman’s characters musically and lyrically. To accomplish this we teamed up with Casey and Heather, two of the best songwriters in Nashville. When we stumbled on the lyrics ‘red lips, blue jeans, white pearls’ in our writing session, I knew had something special,” said Anders.

MONARCH is a Texas-sized, multi-generational musical drama about America’s first family of country music. Headed by the insanely talented, but tough as nails Queen of Country Music DOTTIE CANTRELL ROMAN (Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon, “Feud,” “Thelma & Louise”) and her beloved husband, “Texas Truthteller” ALBIE ROMAN (multi-Platinum country music star and three-time Academy of Country Music (ACM) Award winner Trace Adkins, “Old Henry”), the family has become a country music dynasty. But even though the Roman name is synonymous with authenticity, the very foundation of their success is a lie. And when their reign as country royalty is put in jeopardy, heir to the crown NICOLETTE “NICKY” ROMAN (Golden Globe nominee Anna Friel, “Pushing Daisies”) will stop at nothing to protect her family's legacy, while ensuring her own quest for stardom.

MOTHS Partner with Metal Injection to Premiere "Space Force" Music Video

Puerto Rican stoner/prog outfit MOTHS have unveiled a new music video for the title track from their upcoming debut album. The band has partnered with Metal Injection to premiere the music video for "Space Force", which can be seen below.

Speaking about the upcoming LP, the band shares:

“Space Force marks an evolutionary step in our music and everything we’ve created as a band up to this point. This album represents maturity both lyrically and musically, and with it, an esoteric journey for those who want to encounter challenging music. The title track 'Space Force' represents our most experimental and prog side, though there are still a lot of heavy, catchy riffs. This is probably the song that best captures the essence of the band."

'Space Force' is set for release on August 12th, 2022.

About MOTHS

Every band wants to strike a pristine balance between evoking their influences, embracing their originality, and earning their place within the genre(s) they inhabit. That’s often easier said than done, especially when it comes to styles that have developed so quickly and broadly over the past few decades. As stoner/progressive metal quintet MOTHS proves, however, it can certainly be done. Fusing charming familiarity with captivating freshness, their prior two releases—2018’s self-titled EP and 2020’s split with Philadelphia rockers The Stone Eye—demonstrated an exceptional ability and willingness to saturate shades of their musical forebearers with plenty of wide-ranging and idiosyncratic personality.

As remarkable as both of those collections were, though, they’re mere appetizers compared to what MOTHS have crafted with their debut LP, Space Force. A “complete audio-visual experience”—as bassist Weslie Negrón puts it—the record sees the group composing their most mature, expansive, and rewarding material to date. Packed with quirkily intricate yet welcoming instrumentation, as well as highly varied and compelling songwriting and vocal approaches, Space Force is a thrilling statement of purpose and validity from one of stoner/progressive metal’s greatest up-and-coming acts.

 

Of course, MOTHS are also motivated by their culture, and alongside standout acts like Avandra, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Errant Society, and Parallel Dimension, they rank as one of the best Puerto Rican stoner/progressive metal groups. “It’s part of our DNA to put some Puerto Rican influences into our music. For example, the closing section of ‘Awake’ taps into Latin jazz,” Negrón reveals. In addition, he, Miranda, and González studied Popular Music at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico (and Rodríguez has the same major), so MOTHS are well versed in the “odd time signatures” present in Salsa, Bomba, and Plena (among other styles).

Naturally, that broad musical palette helped make Moths, and Moths/The Stone Eye Split incredibly illustrative. Plus, their distinctive sound and fortitude led to Moths getting spotlighted on Bandcamp Daily in 2018, as well as its second track—" Adhara & Ray”—being featured in Adult Swim’s “Stimulus Swim” playlist in 2020. As such, there’s already considerable hype for what Space Force will bring to the table, and luckily, it’s guaranteed to exceed all expectations.

From its gentle and cosmic guitar prelude (“Space Cowboy Ballad”) and fusion of ‘70s heavy metal and progressive death metal (“Broken Slumber”) to its hybrid of experimental space rock and jazz rock (“There’s No Place Like Space”), Space Force is an extremely diverse, engrossing, and poised voyage. Coupled with its equally mind-bending artwork, the LP surely finds MOTHS at the most imaginative and skillful stage of their career.
