Brazil prog rockers PENTRAL dig deeps on Tim Palmer-mixed single 'All My Wounds'

"Fine specimen of dark and haunting metal rock, the power of which is amplified through atmospheric background vocal contributions throughout... a warranted foreboding of things to come" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Haunting, cavernous, mysterious, heavy and dark – these are all words that can be used to describe the debut single from Brazilian alternative rockers Pentral... Purveyors of a huge sound with a loaded message"~ Big Takeover Magazine

"A style all their own and an orchestral/progressive style that is hard to attain but easy for them to achieve. Beyond the progressive sound, however, is that original set of three personalities only found in the best power trios" ~ Jammerzine

Brazilian progressive rock / metal trio Pentral have released their 'All My Wounds' single, not long after debuting 'Silent Trees', the lead track from their debut album 'What Lies Ahead of Us', which will be released in May 2021. This album is a reflection on today's society, presenting the saga of a lowly couple fighting for their lives and sanity.

For the ten tracks comprising this album, the trio worked with legendary producer Tim Palmer (David Bowie's Tin Machine, The Mission, HIM, U2, Robert Plant, Tears For Fears, Ozzy Osbourne, Goo Goo Dolls, Pearl Jam).

Hailing from Belem in the north of Brazil, Pentral is made up of Victor Lima (vocals, guitars, songwriter, lyrics), Vagner Lima (drummer) and Joe Ferri (bass guitar). Their unique take on alternative rock can be described as progressive, heavy, groovy and melodic, while the band also deliver a strong political message about what is going on in Brazil and all over the world.

With an uplifting vibe with its lyrics, melody, harmonies and grooving rhythm, 'All My Wounds' is about the quest for spiritual healing and dealing with the highs and lows of life and toxic people. It touches upon how hard is to cope with grief and loss and how rewarding it is to bounce back from rock bottom.

"All My Wounds is a pulsating song. Drums and bass guitar are upfront together with the electric guitars. It's really more intense and way shorter and more incisive than our first single. I think that this is a high energy song - really unquiet but still melodic," says Victor Lima.

"As for the lyrics, they try to draw an inner battle to overthrow feelings of loss, way beyond this ordinary material life, moved by the need to keep moving forward as our characters notice and feel that´s much more out of their sights. It brings a message of hope, like some sort of compensation for what has been taken away from you."

Directed and edited by Roger Elarrat and produced by Luana Klautau with Cezar Moraes serving as director of photography, the video accompanying this track captured the band in live performance. The preceding video for 'Silent Trees' was filmed in their native Amazon - the first of several chapters in a dedicated saga that will unfold, track by track.

Pentral stands for 'spirit' in Latin, indicative of the message this band is trying to inspire via their sound - the need to transcend this material world through the power of music, without losing connection with reality and human frailties.

The power trio deeply is influenced by their Amazon roots, their music strongly attached to many global influences while trying to honor Brazil's groove and unique harmonies, progressive rock, metal music, atmosphere and melody. This debut album sums up years of experimentation and the search for human awareness of the environment, peace and equality.

'All My Wounds' and 'Silent Trees' are now available across online music stores and streaming platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.

Sacramento, California singer/songwriter MASSIE released her official music video for single "Monsters Under My Bed."

"Monsters Under My Bed" can be Streamed/Downloaded here.

Sacramento, California singer/songwriter MASSIE released her official music video for single "Monsters Under My Bed."

The single was produced by Kevin "Thrasher" Gruft (Escape the Fate) who was quoted as saying, "It was awesome working with Massie in the studio on this song. She had a vision for the song and we got in and just executed. We blended heavy guitars with live and programmed drums to fit the sounds she heard in her head. I’m excited to hear what she does next.

“Two words: real. life.
Life is messy and beautiful but there aren’t enough artists talking about it. Massie creates music to connect people through real life experiences. She opens a dialogue about the things no one wants to talk about: struggle, heartbreak, anxiety, pressure, self confidence, worth, and even love, excitement, well-being, comfort, and recovery.
Music has always been therapy for Massie, through her darkest hours and her most incredible life experiences. Massie hopes to make people FEEL something by capturing those real life emotions and experiences in her music" says Massie.

She continues, "I think we have all been in a place where we don’t want to face reality. We don’t want to make a decision because we are afraid of what the consequences might be. I wanted to capture that anxiety in a simple and raw way anyone could relate to. How I pictured that anxiety was being a little kid, scared of monsters under my bed because who hasn’t had that overwhelming fear. Unless you’re a fucking psychopath.”

Massie is a singer/ songwriter from Sacramento, CA. Hailing from a diverse background of musical endeavors, she is gifted with a wide vocal range, from smooth airy melodies to driving edgy choruses. Since she was 10 years of age, she has been writing her own songs in relation to life events and emotion.

Throughout her music journey she has worked with Thrasher, who has engineered for artists such as, Travis Barker, Machine Gun Kelly, jxdn, and more. In addition to working with Thrasher, she has worked with Earl Cohen, a Grammy award winning producer in New York, Brian Grider and Misha Hercules, based in Los Angeles.

Manntra Monster Mind Consuming NoCut Entertainment 26 March 2021

Sensational Balkan metal-folk outfit Manntra unleashes 'Monster Mind Consuming' LP

Mystical goth-rock outfit Manntra has released their cracking album 'Monster Mind Consuming', the second English-language album from frontman Marko M. Sekul and his warriors.

Mysterious. Powerful. Magical, here Croatian folk influences merge with metal and industrial to create a perfectly staged, highly independent musical symbiosis. Reaching a new dimension in the dark circus, Manntra is a thrill to experience live, the band's sound is unmistakable - A little Rammstein, a little Eisbrecher, plus a Balkan touch in the style of System of a Down. An exciting storm was evoked, which has the potential to lodge itself in many different ear canals.

“This is essentially a war album. A battle cry for life. It covers topics like fear, war, being strong and going through a difficult time or heartbreak, being a slave to your fears and being set free in the end. It's a war against your own insecurities; a war against yourself - and we want you to win this fight! It's about every single fan and listener of the album. It's an album by people for people," says Manntra vocalist Marko M. Sekul.

"We gave this album our all. We created different songs, tried new things with production and wrote the most intense and darkest songs ever. For me, this is the real face of Manntra - A dark journey through folk, industrial and gothic."

From epic, powerful to overwhelming, brute and full of longing and pain, the band has been periodically dropping potent tasters of this epic emotion-filled efolk-metal masterpiece, including singles 'Heathens', 'Barren King', 'Slave' and 'Ori Ori', casting a real thunderstorm of sound, and 'Voices of The Sea', with its more traditional bent.

Written collectively by the band and produced by Sekul, this is a harmonious representation of all five members. With their unmistakeabe sound, Manntra has to be experienced live. Summoning a storm of excitement, their music has enormous earworm potential.

'Monster Mind Consuming' is available across online stores and streaming platforms, including Spotify. It can also be ordered on CD and as a limited fanbox. The band will also be touring later this year with dates indicated at http://www.manntra.hr/#tour

BLACK WAIL Announce 'Born on Fire' EP - Out April 23

New Jersey rock quintet BLACK WAIL is primed to release their latest studio offering. The band has announced their new EP, 'Born on Fire', which will see an April 23, 2021release via Rhyme & Reason. The new EP is the band's fourth studio effort since forming in 2014, and is preceded by their late-2017 offering 'Chromium Homes'. Fans eager to get a taste of the upcoming record can check out the lead single, "See Conspiracy", which is out now on digital and streaming platforms found here: https://orcd.co/seeconspiracy.

Speaking on the new single, the band offers a direct and to-the-point summation, stating: "'See Conspiracy' is a song about people who believe crazy conspiracy theories and wind up doing crazy things because of it."

While New Jersey quintet Black Wail’s latest EP, 'Born on Fire' (Rhyme & Reason), isn’t a concept record, there are some threads running between its songs that you’d be forgiven for thinking were a direct response to the past year. The lead single, “See Conspiracy” was written before the Qanon movement reached mass acceptance, and long before its believers wound up in Congress. Singer/guitarist Michael Tarlazzi points back to the election of our last President as the genesis. “When he got elected, I was dumbfounded that that could even possibly happen,” he says. “I thought it was a joke, because I figured everyone knew that the guy was a clown. Then he’s spouting all these theories about ‘fake news’ and that there’s a liberal plot to get everybody. Meanwhile, there are real-life events happening, like school shootings with assault rifles that kids easily got because they’re so easily available in America and any attempt at regulation becomes ‘they’re taking our guns away.'”

Black Wail formed in Jersey City in early 2014 when Tarlazzi, then best known as a drummer or guitarist, decided to front his own band to draw on his influences of metal, punk, psych, stoner, and classic rock; playing guitar as well as handling vocals for the first time. After recruiting Susan Lutin on bass and Bram Teitelman on keys, the lineup solidified with the addition of guitarist Ed Charreun and drummer Felipe Torres, who also play in the sludge/noise trio Twin God. Born on Fire, the quintet’s fourth EP, follows 2017’s Chromium Homes, and was recorded by Grammy-winning producer John Seymour (Bouncing Souls), who co-produced the EP with the band.

BLACK WAIL is:

Michael Tarlazzi - Guitar, Vocals

Susan Lutin - Bass

Ed Charreun - Guitar

Felipe Torres - Drums

Bram Teitelman - Keys

GWAR To Release Acoustic EP “The Disc With No Name” May 28th

Stripped Down, Unplugged Version of “Fuck This Place” Streaming Now

Image 3-28-21 at 10.38 AM.JPG

We are just a mere three months into the year, but 2021 truly is shaping up to be the year of the Bohab! Following the announcement of GWAR’s “Ragnarok” Rye and their brand new CBD line “Bud of Gods,” your Lords and Masters have yet another surprise up their sleeve. May 28th will see the release of “The Disc With No Name,” via Pit Records. The EP is a limited edition 12” picture disc. It is available for purchase at GWAR.net and indie retailers.

The Disc With No Name” features unplugged versions of four GWAR classics, completely reimagined and rearranged with acoustic instruments. The idea to release the EP came during last year’s quarantine following the band’s heart wrenching, emotional and ridiculous acoustic performance for The A.V. Club during their quarantine sessions. With this release, the band looks back wistfully on eons of murderous rock and roll and the lonesome time of the great GWARANTINE of 2020. Listen to the unplugged version of “Fuck This PlaceHERE

Lead singer Blóthar the Berserker had this to say: “During the quarantine of 2020 I spent long, lonely days with my hand down my pants, hiding out in a fortress made entirely of rolls of toilet paper, drinking hand sanitizer and watching ‘1000-Lb Sisters’... which is business as usual for me. So I was relieved when I got the call to lay down some vocals on “The Disc With No Name.” We recorded this record over the telephone, which was fine with me, because I can’t stand to be in the same room as the other members of GWAR.”

In other GWAR news, the alien overlords have teamed up Puck Hcky for an exclusive live of GWAR hockey jerseys. The jerseys are available for purchase HERE.

“The Disc With No Name” Tracklisting:

Side A:

‘68 RELEASE BOLD NEW ALBUM GIVE ONE TAKE ONE OUT NOW VIA COOKING VINYL

LISTEN: Give One Take One

“Step right up, admit one and all for a ride on a killer groove thanks to Atlanta duo '68.”
-
Loudwire

“Hints of blues fuse with a noisy post-hardcore edge, resulting in a massive wall of sound — impressive considering ’68 are only two individuals.” - Consequence of Sound

“A sludgy twist on swaggering punk-blues” - BrooklynVegan

“A killer slice of sweaty, obnoxious noise rock, and I highly recommend it.” - MetalSucks

"The garage rock duo have some of the finest riffs in the game, and “Bad Bite” is proof."
-
The Alternative

March 26, 2021 - The noisy Atlanta duo ‘68 released their third full-length studio album Give One Take One, out now via Cooking Vinyl. Across ten tracks, vocalist and guitarist Josh Scogin (The Chariot, Norma Jean) and drummer Nikko Yamada, display their boldest songwriting yet, laden with hooks without losing any of their raw, in-your-face approach. The duo balance blistering walls of sound with nuanced songwriting to keep the listener on their toes from beginning to end. Produced by Grammy-winner Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains), Give One Take One is built on pure energy, a wild ride of ingenuity that still manages to be danceable and fun. In addition to the hand-drawn and animated music video for the single “Bad Bite”, Scogin also created a documentary around the making of the album, only viewable to those who pre-ordered the record. Watch a teaser for the documentary here and listen to the album here.

Speaking on the album release, Scogin said:
“This album has been a long time coming. We recorded in the summer of 2019 and had to sit on them until now, the next step in to see these songs fulfilled live. I’m hoping that comes sooner than later.”

He further commented on the creation of the documentary:
“While we sat in limbo during the 2020 shutdown, I gathered all my footage that I had and created a documentary. It was mostly done for fun, to keep me from losing my mind because I’m not good at sitting idle. The end product shows a small glimpse into the world of ‘68 and how winging it by the seat of your pants can be a real adventurous way to live.”

How much noise can two people make? ‘68 is the sound of simultaneous implosion and explosion, of destruction and creation unbound. These are songs that could almost fall apart at any moment, yet never do, devilishly dancing between life and death. It’s a primitive impulse delivered with postmodern purpose; a blacksmith’s resolve with an arsenal of electric distortion and raw nerve.

Josh Scogin kickstarted his small band with the big sound in 2013, naming the two-man outfit he modestly undersells as “a little rock, a little blues, a little hardcore” after his father’s old Camaro. And there’s a muscle car-sized rumble beneath the hood of what the Atlanta, Georgia native and his percussive partner-in-crime, Nikko Yamada, unleash with an array of guitar, bass, drums, keys, and pedals, careening between swinging barnburners, wild haymakers, and moody atmosphere.

The ’68 roadshow has taken them from Moscow to Tel Aviv, across Europe and Australia and all-over North America, often splitting up 20-hour drives between the two guys. The passion, the hunger, the good humor, it all connects with diverse crowds. Deliciously stripped down and vibrant, ’68 excels in intimate environments, to be sure, but is no less unignorable on giant festival stages or on the road with Bring Me The Horizon, Stone Sour, Beartooth, Avatar, August Burns Red, The Amity Affliction, and Underoath, where they’ve earned new converts every day.

In Humor and Sadness, the first album by ’68, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard New Artist Chart. Two Parts Viper followed in 2017. “[‘68] bring the noise in the most righteous ways, caring less about the scene they came up through, the bloodless drivel that passes as ‘indie’ and the boring earnestness currently permeating ‘punk,’” declared Alternative Press. “Two Parts Viper is the best record of the year. Throw a copy in my casket, because I’ll never be done listening to it.”

Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Rush, Alice In Chains) became a believer after just a few songs of a ’68 set. On Give One Take One, crafted with Raskulinecz in Nashville, the band’s high intensity bombast threatens but never swallows the underlying groove.

With the same spirit of scrappy “winging it” and punchy minimalism that powered the Flat Duo Jets and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, ’68 push forward the pure rock traditions of audacity and disruption. Scogin gives everything to the microphone, as if singing to redeem his soul. He wields his guitar and keys like weapons, pulverizing away any false pretenses. It’s about the riff and the kick. It’s immediate. It’s alive. And it’s fun. Sweaty catharsis, cutting missives, surrendered by ’68 as if the world depends on them. Because in ’68, less is more. Oh, so much more.

THE MOBILE HOMES Release First Album In Eleven Years New Album 'Trigger' is OUT NOW

The highly anticipated full-length album 'Trigger' by synth legends The Mobile Homeshits stores today. It's the swedes first studio album in eleven years.

To celebrate the album release, TMH has released a music video for the track ”Once Upon a Time I Was Handsome”

'Trigger' shows us a more grown-up sound. It still flirts with the ’80s, but now with more darkness. Andreas tells us about the album, “We’ve done it differently this time; Hasse’s been writing more directly from my musical ideas. To me, the songs are about being older, how your perspective of life has changed. The music is inspired by the bands we first fell for, after punk, in our early teens. There was something that triggered me while listening to them again, maybe it was the youth, memories... Well, I think our lyrics have changed, like it’s developed with a lot more freedom. And that’s the intention.”

The Mobile Homes formed in 1984 and have since then been in various formations, but are now founding brothers Andreas & Patrik Brun and Hans Erkendal, along with Sami Sirviö and Markus Mustonen (Kent).

The band has collaborated with Julian Beeston (Nitzer Ebb), and Denniz Pop, Karl Bartos (ex Kraftwerk), among others. They’ve also toured with bands such as Laibach and Nitzer Ebb. In 1998 they released the album 'The Mobile Homes', with Karl Bartos of Kraftwerk.

DEKO ENTERTAINMENT GOES UP INTO THE ATTIC TO DUST OFF THIS ROCK GEM.

ONE TIME SUPERGROUP FLESH AND BLOOD FEATURING TYKETTO VOCALIST DANNY VAUGHN PUT OUT THE FULLY REMASTERED ‘BLUES FOR DAZE’ FOR THE FIRST TIME DIGITALLY.

Flesh & Blood was a short lived super-group put together by Mark Mangold (Touch, Drive She Said) on keyboards, Danny Vaughn (Tyketto) on vocals, Al Pitrelli (Savatage, Joe Lynn Turner, Alice Cooper) on guitar, Chuck Bonfante (Saraya, Drive She Said) on drums and Mitch Distefano on bass.

Image 3-28-21 at 10.15 AM.JPG

Blues For Daze is bluesy-based hard rock...classic rock mixing upbeat rockers and atmospheric mid-tempo / ballads with more than a hint of AOR / Melodic Rock. Keyboardist Mark Mangold had this to say about the re-issue, “So thrilled to be revisiting our bluesy funky side, with the bonus tracks, and hanging with friends. I love listening to this album. Mamma say stank."

Vaughn & Co. rock out to Feel the Power, Shake Ya Tail Feather, title track Blues For Daze (Mr. Blue)" and I Know Where You Been, then chill out for the beautiful Bed of Roses, Jenny Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Man Enough and the classic "Voodoo Moon". Danny gives us his take on this album, ‘Blues For Daze’ is one of my favorite albums that I have ever done. It came at a time when I needed a change, and its ultra cool, bluesy roots gave me a chance to go vocally exploring in a place that I had always wanted to go but had always been worried that maybe I didn't have "the stuff" that it takes. It's up to the listener to decide if I came through or not but, inspired by such a tremendous group of songs and such wonderfully talented players, I gave it my all from the first to the last note. That's how it's supposed to be.”

Recorded in the mid-Nineties, ‘Blues For Daze’ became an out of print collectors piece. The band reformed in the fall of 2020, to record two new songs and their sound clearly remains the same on "Ready To Roll", and Danny Vaughn shines with an acoustic version of "Riverside", showing off not only his vocal chops, but also playing acoustic guitar and blues harp. Danny continues, “For a long time I have wondered if we would ever do a sequel so presenting this release with two brand new tracks gives this gem of a record some closure and is the sweet icing on the cake. Listen loudly!”

Marking the beginning of a second trilogy of albums, 'To The End' serves as something of a prologue to the first three MEMORIAM albums. Working backwards and narrating the life story of the leader whose demise was depicted in the first trilogy, the lyrics on the album may play out in a fictional realm, but they incorporate inspiration from real life. A central theme of war is colored with political fulminations and everyday experiences that combine to create a cohesive and enthralling chronicle.

The four-piece returned to producer, Russ Russell, for the recording of 'To The End'. For the first time, the band demoed the songs and entered the studio with a new level of preparedness. Coupled with their close relationship with Russell, this created an environment that allowed for greater experimentation, as demonstrated by the diverse array of textures and sounds present on the nine tracks on the album.

From the earliest days of the band, they had their eye on the art of Dan Seagrave (Benediction, Dismember, Hypocrisy, Suffocation, etc) as an accompaniment to their music. Having created the artwork for the first three MEMORIAM albums, he has also created the cover for 'To The End'.

MEMORIAM are:

Coughlan has been described as "the most underrated lyricist in pop today" by The Guardian newspaper. DJ John Peel was also such a fan that he stated he could "listen to Cathal Coughlan sing the phone book".

"In the couple of years prior to making the record, I’d renewed contact with the other members of Microdisney, several of whom appear on this record, as part of the reunion shows we played in Ireland and the UK. As the result of that, and of other shows I’d played as a vocalist and collaborator, I found new musical acquaintances whose work suggested a wide palette. It felt important to make music in a more convivial setting than had been possible in a long time, which worked well until, midway through the recording, the pandemic dictated that the community of contributors had to become virtual," says Cathal Coughlan.

Recorded in London, this album features Coughlan's long-time collaborators from the Grand Necropolitan Quartet - namely Nick Allum(The Fatima Mansions, The Apartments), James Woodrow and Audrey Riley (notable collaborator of Lush, The Sundays, The Smiths, Nick Cave, The Cure and Coldplay).

On this album, Microdisney/High Llamas bassist Jonathan Fell unites with Nick Allum and Coughlan for the first time since the Fatima Mansions 'Against Nature' LP in 1989. Microdisney/ High Llamas alumnus John Bennett also makes an appearance.

The LP also features Sean O'Hagan (Microdisney, High Llamas, Stereolab), Luke Haines (The Auteurs, Black Box Recorder) and Rhodri Marsden (Scritti Politti), as well as contributions by acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter Eileen Gogan, Andrías Ó Grúama (Fatima Mansions) and Cory Gray (The Delines) on wurlitzer piano.

Emmy award-winning director George Seminara created videos for title track ‘Song of Co-Aklan' and the latest single 'The Knockout Artist', and Andy Golding (The Wolfhounds, Dragon Welding) revealed a hallucinatory infomercial-style video for 'Owl In The Parlour'.

The eye-catching cover art for the 'Song of Co-Aklan’ LP is by outsider artist Cristabel Christo and originated by Bruce Brand, award winning designer for The Darkness and Whites Stripes.

One of Ireland’s most revered singer-songwriters, Coughlan is beloved by fans of caustic literate lyricism and erudite songcraft. Since Fatima Mansions' demise in the mid-90s, he has released five acclaimed solo albums and been involved in numerous collaborations and guest appearances. He and Microdisney bandmates were the first recipients of Ireland’s National Concert Hall Trailblazer Award in 2019, celebrating culturally important albums by iconic Irish musicians, songwriters and composers (for 1985’s 'The Clock Comes Down The Stairs').

As of March 26, the 'Song of Co-Aklan' album will be available across online platforms, such as Apple Music and Spotify, as well as physically. It can be purchased at https://ffm.to/songofcoaklanalbum.

DRACONIAN to Release Monumental Full-Length, Under A Godless Veil, on Picture Vinyl, out April 23rd

Pre-Order Starts NOW!

A haunting doom spirit covers the world underneath

a melancholic Godless Veil!

Almost five years after the release of their long-player Sovran, DRACONIAN unveiled their highly acclaimed epos and seventh full-length, Under A Godless Veil, in October 2020 via Napalm Records. Entering the charts in several countries, this prodigious album marks the unit's most successful record to date and delivers a captivating mélange of dreary doom and contrasting vocals, and mixes Heike Langhans' angelic voice with Anders Jakobsson's death growls. Now, this intoxicating piece of art will be released as an atmosphericly conceptualized picture vinyl, out April 23rd 2021.

DRACONIAN on Under A Godless Veil:

“To DRACONIAN, Under a Godless Veil is by far the most diverse album we have created. Inspired by some of the music closest to Johan’s heart; everything from traditional Doom to scaled-down, Gothic rock-inspired pieces and more. Some will perhaps describe the songs as more refined and meditative. Some ambient elements have been added to the mix without overshadowing the traditional characteristics that are DRACONIAN.

Resonating with the compositions, Anders’s lyrical direction is ambiguous and a progression of the first two-three albums, yet more subtle while embracing the Gnostic philosophy more directly. One could say Under a Godless Veil is an act of contemplation; About living and dying and remembering who we are in a strange, abrasive world far from home.”

And though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death...

The one-hour long album, graced with a haunting cover artwork by Natalia Drepina, carries the legacy of gothic doom metal à la My Dying Bride or Trees Of Eternity into the new decade and will drag the listener into a sorrowful cosmos with the very first notes of spellbinding opener "Sorrow Of Sophia“, interweaving beauty with crippling depression.

After crushing slow rhythms and the fragile "Sleepwalkers” that leads through barren soundscapes, the band – founded in Säffle / Sweden in 1994 – rises up to their best in the nine-minute long "Ascend Into Darkness“, which will echo in the listener's ears long after the final chord has died away.

“Under a Godless Veil is a milestone in the metal scene and in a career that has grown

with vision and resilience."

Metal Hammer PT (4/5)

"A beautiful achievement, which elegantly and seamlessly combines classic ingredients

with a cleverly renewed sound signature."

Rock Hard FR (8/10)

“Under A Godless Veil is another massive album from a band who, 26 years into their career,

show no signs of stopping.“

Powerplay UK (8/10)

IHSAHN TO PERFORM TELEMARK + PHAROS EPS IN THEIR ENTIRETY FOR LIVESTREAM

INCLUDING EXCERPTS FROM DAS SEELENBRECHEN + FEATURING EINAR SOLBERG FROM LEPROUS

Shapeshifting progressive metal pioneer Ihsahn has announced an exclusive set at Munin Live, streaming from his hometown of Notodden on April 4 at 7pm BST/8pm CET/2pm ET.

Once again pushing the boundaries of unconstrained creation, the Norwegian master of the avant-garde will premiere both of his latest critically acclaimed EPs Telemark and Pharos in their entirety, including tracks that have never been performed live before. The set will also include excerpts from Das Seelenbrechen, and feature Einar Solberg from Leprous.

Get tickets here.

Image 3-27-21 at 7.40 AM.JPG

Having returned to that early black metal sound on Telemark, Ihsahn was due to perform at Norway's Inferno Festival in April 2020, followed by a series of live concerts and festival appearances that would showcase his more extreme work. Canceled due to the pandemic, he says. "We couldn't wait to perform the last EP. I even ordered stage props with David Thiérrée's illustrations. The plan was to do Telemark shows through the summer and focus in on my black metal roots. And then as a counterpart, I wanted to do a different show based on the more mellow, experimental side of what I do, trying to connect the two forms together."

He continues, "For many years, I felt that I should do something purely black metal again," explaining how this eventually led to the abstract basis behind Telemark and Pharos. "However, I would feel very limited by that in the form of an album," the artist shares. "And then I would have wanted an outlet for the opposite. I've done the full black metal thing in the past but I'm also not a pop artist. I think it would be hard for me to fill an album within that format. This has been a challenge of limiting myself to a certain expression."

In 2020, Ihsahn released two five-track EPs via Candlelight Records, inspired by and dedicated to his home county of Telemark.

The first, Telemark EP, represents the dark, brutal and aggressive side of Ihsahn's compositional identity. With three new original songs and two ferocious cover versions, it represents a celebration of the defiant spirit that first inspired him to follow a creative path, forming Emperor, three decades ago. Listen to "Stridig."

The second, Pharos EP, is the light to Telemark's dark. Pharos features three original compositions and two covers: A delicate but true-to-the-original version of "Manhattan Skyline" by Norway's own pop progenitors A-ha (featuring Leprous frontman Einar Solberg on vocal duties) and the haunting "Roads," originally by British trip-hop collective Portishead. Recorded at his home studio, with additional drums by Tobias Solbakk at Jukes Joint Studio, Pharos is musically and conceptually a reverse image of Telemark.

Full Ihsahn merch options are available here.

ABOUT IHSAHN:

Since 1991, IHSAHN has defied expectations and pushed boundaries. Launching his solo career in 2006 with The Adversary, he has sought to maintain the black metal blueprint that he helped devise with the world-shattering EMPEROR, while mischievously exploring progressive dreamscapes, avant-garde jazz, electronica, darkwave, ear-crushing tech-metal and ambient meditations. Each full-length album has had an element of surprise and delight, where the architect plays out his creative vision by building on an unwavering zeal for the shock and awe that keeps his listeners on their toes.

KHANDRA Reveals New Album Details, Shares First Track

Belarusian black metal entity KHANDRA will be releasing its new full-length, 'All Occupied by Sole Death,' via Season of Mist Underground Activists on May 28! The cover artwork, tracklist, and details can be found below. Listen to the band's demolishing first single "Irrigating Lethal Acres with Blood"
'All Occupied by Sole Death' is available for pre-orders at the Season of Mist shop HERE.

"The only horrible thing in the world is ennui… That is the one sin for which there is no forgiveness." – Oscar Wilde

Shrouded in a veil of mystery and death, Belarussian black metal act KHANDRA will soon unleash their new offering, ‘All occupied by sole Death,’ upon mankind. Characterized by aggressiveness, dissonance and by creating a strong sense of atmosphere, the band’s third assault seamlessly fits in with the wave of black metal fronted by MGŁA and BLAZE OF PERDITION.

KHANDRA’s first revelations were perpetrated in October 2017 under the banner ‘All is of no avail,’ which subsequently merged with its successor ‘There’s no division outside existence’ in October 2018. These seeds sprouted even more fatal progression of metastases which transformed into ‘All occupied by sole Death.’

"Khandra" [xɐnˈdra] is a term that describes the feeling of crippling listlessness or melancholy that takes one over when in a state of boredom. However, the band's overarching concept challenges this notion of ennui, attempting to exceed the limits of the imagination, utilizing music as a vessel of expression that has no emotional or logical confines.

THE UNGUIDED Releases Exciting New Video for “Where Love Comes To Die”

Get your copy of their latest album, Father Shadow, NOW!

As a surprise and special thank you to their fans, Swedish melodic death metal unit THE UNGUIDED have just released a new official music video for the dreamy crusher “Where Love Comes To Die”.

With their new track, the Swedes once again prove that the well-balanced symbiosis of pop-inspired elements in combination with merciless heaviness and lyrics with depth succeeds with ease and that their songs absolutely stay in your head. In four minutes, the track takes you on a journey through a diverse sound construct and makes you scream for more!

THE UNGUIDED's Richard Sjunnesson states: "We’ve been sitting on this video for quite some while now! Our first thought was to save it for an eventual tour but that’s not going to happen in quite some time, so we just decided to do an interactive event with the fans to “unlock” the new music video. It’s for the only ballad on the album Father Shadow and we once again got the opportunity to work with Patric Ullaeus who filmed both “Crown Prince Syndrome” & “Where Love Comes To Die” during the same day! Roger and my sister and her husband can be seen in the video as the actors."

With Father Shadow, THE UNGUIDED comprised of the brothers and founders of SONIC SYNDICATE – breaks down the barriers between melodic death metal, metalcore and fitting electronic sounds. Clean hooklines explode in classifying screams, leading up to a unique symbiosis of pure harshness. With brutal shouts, an unmistakably catchy chorus and a huge chunk of honest words, “Crown Prince Syndrome'' unveils the burden of an innate identity. The perfect symbiosis of Richard Sjunnesson’s forceful vocal pitch and Jonathan Thorpenberg’s clean vocals convinces to the fullest extent. Tracks like the banger “Never Yield” and “War of Oceans” pierce straight into your eardrums. Let yourself be drawn into the deep, dark underbelly of “Stand Alone Complex”, capturing your mind with ruthlessly harsh drums. “Gaia”, featuring Erik Engstrand, marks a new chapter in the era of THE UNGUIDED: harder, faster but always on point. With heavy handed cover versions of their own classic SONIC SYNDICATE tracks “Jailbreak”, “Denied” and “Jack of Diamonds”, the four piece also thrives in reminiscence – and reveals a new musical entity. Follow THE UNGUIDED into the deep shadows of the past and the abyss of the future!

THE UNGUIDED on their latest album:

“We started to work on the follow up to And the Battle Royale by the end of 2018 after the tour was done. I think that particular album was a lot about figuring out the band’s new identity and writing together after boarding a new member and undeniably it was well received. Father Shadow is all about taking that experience, refining the process and push it to the next level. We have grown together solidly as a band and I think it shows a lot on this album. The songwriters in the band all come from different schools and write a bit differently musically, on this album everyone got equal airtime just to pump the diversity without losing the feel of the band. Lyrically it pushes the story and concept forward and finally ties up some ends that have been loose since Fragile Immortality (2014), something I think the hardcore fans will appreciate. It was also fun to go back and revisit those old SONIC SYNDICATEtracks for the bonus material and I think we managed to do our own thing to honor the songs with a mint 2020 production. Utterly, we created the songs and album we’d love to listen to ourselves and we succeeded with that and hope you’ll like it as much as we do!”

THE UNGUIDED Line-Up:

Richard Sjunnesson - Vocals

Jonathan Thorpenberg - Vocals / Guitars

Roger Sjunnesson - Guitars

Richard Schill - Drums

ZERO TRUST RELEASE DEBUT EP AND MUSIC VIDEO FOR “BIRCH”

FEATURING MEMBERS OF COHEED AND CAMBRIA, BULLDOZE, AND MORE

OUT NOW VIA EQUAL VISION RECORDS

STREAM: Zero Trust

The New York-based group Zero Trust celebrated the release of their self-titled debut today in partnership with Equal Vision Records. Zero Trust might be a new name, but they boast résumé credits spanning decades of the most creative, cutting-edge pockets of the area's storied hardcore scene. With a lineup consisting of members of Coheed and Cambria, Bulldoze, Full Scale Riot, Agents of Man, Skarhead, and more, the group formed as a creative outlet during the quarantined isolation of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On their inaugural release, Zero Trust expands upon their collective experience, blurring the lines between hardcore, metal, and alternative rock with substantive lyrical themes from vocalist BJ Allen, who reflects on the socio-political turmoil that has erupted throughout the past year. To accompany the release, Zero Trust also shared the official music video for the opening track “Birch”. Zero Trust is out now and available to stream here.

Speaking on the single, BJ Allen (vocals) says:
“Birch is about exploring the part of your mind that knows the whole system is against you, while also knowing that if humanity were to be unified, civil and just we would be in a much better position.”

This March, Zero Trust partners with Equal Vision Records for the release of their self-titled EP, featuring dual singles “Birch” and “Get It”. Having partially written the record pre-pandemic, Zero Trust finished the writing process virtually and recorded at the band’s Barrel Hannah Studio in Nyack, New York. The band’s debut is an immediately hard-hitting and emotional experience, balancing their years of collective songwriting experience with a focus on pushing heavy music forward. Across the two tracks, vocalist BJ Allen reflects on how the systems in our society are working against the working class, and the collective reality that our world is permanently changed. Not satisfied by simply rearranging the same ingredients from the myriad of genres the members have already made a lasting impact on, Zero Trust opts for channeling their aggression into a new form that can’t be pigeonholed.

Zero Trust is: Vocalist BJ Allen (Full Scale Riot, Ghidrah, GMK), guitarists Zack Thorne (Bulldoze, Agents of Man, Skarhead, etc.) and Mike Milewski (Bulldoze, Homicidal, etc.), Travis Stever (Coheed and Cambria) on bass and backing vocals, and drummer Evan Rossiter (Full Scale Riot, Organyc).
