James is currently putting the finishing touches on his label debut, which will be a pure, unadulterated, headbanging heavy metal affair where James proudly wears his influences on his sleeve while simultaneously forging his own path.

James Durbin is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist from Santa Cruz, California. Many associate his name with his appearance on Season 10 of American Idol, where he was unabashedly flying the flag for heavy metal. In fact, on the finale, he appeared with undisputed metal gods Judas Priest for rousing renditions of "Livin' After Midnight" and "Breaking the Law". James has also worked and performed alongside many incredible musicians including Stevie Wonder, Don Was, Zakk Wylde, Sheryl Crow, Tom Jones, Mick Mars of Mötley Crüe, Bob Babbitt of The Funk Brothers, and Steel Panther, just to name a few.

Durbin’s signature vocal prowess and powerful stage presence have earned him stamps of approval and praise from rock and metal royalty like Steven Tyler, Sammy Hagar, Rob Halford, and more. He has four full length albums to his name, in addition to lending his voice to a handful of various albums.

German medieval rock masters FEUERSCHWANZ have released the official music video for the song "Hier kommt Alex" (english: Here Comes Alex). The song - originally written and performed by Die Toten Hosen - comes off their covers album Die Sieben Todsünden, the bonus to their brand new album Das Elfte Gebot which was released on June 26 and landed at #3 on the official German album charts, where it remained for 8 consecutive weeks.

Commented the band: ""In einer Welt in der man nur noch lebt, damit man täglich roboten geht..." (In a world in which you only live, so you can function every day...) This line seems depressingly real in these strange times - even though, back in 1988, Die Toten Hosen were inspired by Anthony Burgess' novel "A Clockwork Orange" as well as the movie of the same name by Stanley Kubrick, to write this huge German rock classic! We love the song as well as the movie and its eerie message and thus put it into a medieval sound. Let's ascend to Burg Abenberg again, harken Mieze Myus' gentle harp before we shout: Hier kommt Alex!"

In the beginning of June, Norwegian hard rock icons VREID streamed a unique live performance that took place against the breathtaking backdrop of the mountains in their hometown of Sogndal, Norway. VREID played a classic set from their entire Sognametal history, including songs that have never been played live before as well as several WINDIR tracks. Vegard, the brother of late WINDIR vocalist Valfar, and former MISTUR vocalist Odne made a guest appearance during the concert. In addition to the video, VREID reopened the concert scene in Oslo (NO) on August 15, 2020! The historic performance took place at the legendary Rockefeller venue and was the first show at the venue since the Covid-19 closure. The show sold out immediately.

VREID has also launched their very own signature beer, which has been crafted by the band’s guitarist Stian “Strom” Bakketeig and Balder Brewery. 

Moreover, the band has finished material for the follow up to 2018's 'Lifehunger!' The new record will be released via Season of Mist during the first half of 2021. The band is now in the studio and reports that the spirit in the band is stronger and darker than ever before. The Nordic flame burns stronger year by year!

VREID were formed in 2004. The Norwegian metal brigade rose from the ashes of WINDIR after the tragic perishing of the "Sognametal" legends with the declared mission of exploring new musical paths.
 
The Norsemen proved true to their words and have so far delivered 7 albums and one DVD, which each received high praise from critics and fans alike. VREID chose a course of constant evolution that is marked by thematically denoted phases regarding their often historically inspired lyrics.
 
This became particularly clear with albums 'I Krig' (2007) and 'Milorg' (2009), which both revolved around concepts dealing with resistance and liberation of Norway during World War II. With their following three records, VREIDreturned to their Norse roots, especially on latest full-length, 'Sólverv' which received high critical acclaim in 2015.

Welcome to the unnerving and anger driven world of MORA PROKAZA where madness reigns! The band with the cunning name MORA PROKAZA was formed back in 2013 by Farmakon (guitars, vocals) and Isvind (drums). Both musicians have a long-term experience of playing in many local Belarusian extreme metal bands. The material for the first release “Bringer of Plague” was quickly composed and released in early 2015 and with that, MORA PROKAZA shared Russian stages with bands such as HELL SPIRIT, SUSPERIA, DARKEND, CLAYMORDS, MORIBUND OBLIVION and many others. In the winter of 2015, the band even supported INQUISITION in St. Petersburg (RU).

Shortly after the release of their debut album, Isvind leaves MORA PROKAZAand furious drummer Hatestorm joins the band commencing the recording of new material. With the addition of Hatestorm, the band opened up for new opportunities and In May 2015 the musicians present a brand-new EP "My Awakening" shorty followed by a new full-length "Dark Universe" (2016).

In 2018 MORA PROKAZA completely changed their approach to composing and sound concept and with the release of the single ‘Blacker than Black’, the band reinvented themselves with great feedback from fans all around the world. "Up In Smoke is a depiction of ones internal anger, frustration and feeling of suffocating in the midst of a chaotic world filled with tension and uncertainty. The song touches on a lack of control in our current situation and the ability to renew our selves, bounce back and settle with our past" says the band.

Ænly formed in September of 2018. It's Founding Member Riggs(guitar/composer/producer) was set to turn his life around and started Ænlythe day he got sober. With the positive mindset of "All ways Forward" and moving ahead. Riggs added several members to the lineup from local Talent Andrew Lopez on vocals, Manny Cave a bandmate from another project on bass. This would be the beginning members of the band. The EP ALLWAYS FORWARD would follow and was released in December 2019. Longtime friend and previous band mate, Art Diharce (lead guitar) joined the group in January 2020.

At the beginning of April 2020 just as the world as we knew it began to change, Finnish heavy melodic death metal band WOLFHEART released their newest full-length crusher, Wolves Of Karelia, via Napalm Records. Today, the band has emerged from the darkness once again with a vibrant lyric video for their blisteringly heavy track "Horizon On Fire", cut from the new album.

WOLFHEART frontman Tuomas Saukkonen says about the track and video:

"Of the entire album, 'Horizon on Fire' is the song that best underlines how outnumbered the Finnish army was with only 32 tanks against over 2500 Russian tanks, 114 aircrafts against Russian 3800 aircrafts and manpower almost three times the enemy during one of the coldest winters of those times. I was born in the Karelian region and my father’s family farm is only 7km from the border that was drawn after the war, so I also have a very strong personal connection to those historical events. So, lines like below were written purely to honor the sacrifice of the generation that fought the war.

This lyric video was done by our graphics guy, Nikos Stavridakis of VisionBlack, who has done all of our album graphics for the previous three albums. We wanted to give him a bigger role and get him involved in our video production too so he could bring the album graphic work into life in video format, and underline the Finnish Winter War theme even more deeply."

The album’s lyrical and musical content is inspired by the Winter War waged between Russia and the band’s native country, Finland, which took place during the winter of November 1939-March 1940. Finland ultimately managed to stop the Russian troops from invading their country. WOLFHEART mastermind and frontman Tuomas Saukkonen was inspired by the personal stories of local veterans, conveying the tales of what they experienced and survived from their perspectives. On Friday, October 23rd, Baltimore rockers Signal 13 will unveil their latest single/video, “All Fired Up,” from their critically acclaimed EP, ‘Destination Unknown.’ 
 

Serving as the follow-up to the earlier singles/videos “Dirty” and “Stay With Me,” “All Fired Up” is an undeniable bluesy rocker with a shout-along/anthemic chorus. 

“The song is built around this blues-rock riff that everyone really liked and it came together quickly after that,” explained the band in a statement. “Vicky had lyrics already written and immediately integrated them into the music. As soon as we started playing the main riff, she said ‘This is All Fired Up!’ and jumped right in with the lyrics. Vicky will tell you it’s about decisions and committing to move forward or back, but there is more to it than that. I don't want to give it all away but it is much deeper if you listen closely, with some Robert Johnson inspiration going on.” 

And like the other aforementioned earlier singles, a must-see video was filmed for “All Fired Up.” “We wanted to do something different than we have done before. While ‘Dirty’ was a performance video, it was very basic, with no stage, just two lights, and it fit the song. For this, with shows being shut down for so long and not being able to have people see us live, we wanted to give everyone the full show - big and bold and capturing us live. Vicky designed the stage herself and the production company really brought it to life. It was a big production for us - a fully custom designed multi-tiered stage, tons of lights, lots of cameras and different angles. It was a long day and we were having fun behind the scenes so folks hopefully get to see who we are a bit off the stage.

YASHIRA has released an all-new track today for their single "Impasse." The new song is the second to be released off their newly announced full-length LP Fail To Be, which is slated for release on December 11, 2020, via Good Fight Music. This follows the release of "Shards of Heaven" last month, along with a music video that was directed by Cameron Nunez. The cover art for Fail To Be was done by Jesse Draxler (DAUGHTERS/NINE INCH NAILS).

"Impasse is a track that uses religious devotion as a metaphor for drug addiction," says bassist/vocalist Luke Barber. "In many ways, drug dependence and the belief in a higher power are parallel. The damage they inflict on the psyche can be permanent. This song is about autonomy being stripped away in the search for relief."

Fail To Be is the anticipated follow up to Shrine, which garnered its own high praise when it was released in 2018. Metal Injection famously said, "Standing at six songs long and about 6,000 riffs, Yashira's Shrine will completely and utterly flatten you in every way possible throughout its runtime." 

Fail To Be was produced by Greg Thomas (Misery Signals, Shai Hulud) and Yashira. Engineered and mixed by Greg Thomas and Chris Teti at Silver Bullet Studios in Burlington, Connecticut. Pre saves and pre-orders are available today here.

The band continues, "Writing for this record began right after Shrine was released. Seth was still with us while we were writing for this; the sound was evolving a lot from the beginning stages up to when he passed. When we decided to move forward with Ryan, all we had were very blown-out voice memo recordings of the songs, so there was a lot of necessary reworking. For the tracks to be as good as they could be, we wrote to our chemistry and strengths with Ryan, and with a much more pinpointed idea of what we wanted out of our sound, we were able to get into a groove.

"Recording "Fail To Be" was a different experience for all of us. We'd never been in a studio setting like we were at Silver Bullet as far as putting aside three weeks to crank out a record. We learned a lot from working with Greg and Chris on so many different levels. This setting had us eating/sleeping/breathing this record, and that kind of environment brought out a focus none of us had ever known. We were all dialed in, and we think it shows. Us, Greg and Chris were able to create something we're all very proud of making."

Singer & guitarist Tymon Kruidenier about 'Weeping Lead':

"Weeping Lead is one of my favorite songs on the album, both from a musical as well as a lyrical perspective. Conceptually, it’s quite a paradoxical song. On the one hand, it’s about the deadening numbness of depression, where suicide seems like the only way out. On the other hand, it’s about the realization that true purpose and meaning can only be found in overcoming sorrow and allowing yourself to transform that dark energy into things of beauty. On a side note; ‘lead’ refers to the metal here, so most people will probably mispronounce this song’s title before they hear me sing it.

This gloomy and shadowy music video was once again directed by our friend Job Kuizenga. We were aiming for a 90s inspired look and feel as you can clearly tell from the 4:3 aspect ratio and the VHS glitches. Fun fact is that there were no digital effects used in the production. The hazy look was attained by filming through various drinking glasses while the VHS look comes from running the video through a real VHS player while holding magnets close to the tape and pushing around the tape heads."

Rising Insane delivers their music in a dualistic manner, apart from the common post-hardcore norm; rageful outbreaks chained to a melancholic surrender are giving their songs a unique emotive touch. Rising Insane is and has alway been own initiative, investing both heart and soul in the music and everything else that has to deal with being a band. Releasing their debut album "Nation" in June 2017, they definitely paved a way to move on to higher ground. Solid mixtures of crushing metalcore elements with a punk-rock-like influence are getting along with rest-in-your-head clean vocals.

Since the release, Rising Insane captivates over and over again, playing alongside bands like The Devil wears Prada, For Today and Stray from the Path. With this passion, Rising Insane joined the Band Annisokay at the end of 2018 to a 14 city tour through Germany and Austria, also joined the stage at the Impericon Festival 2019.
