Chronologically speaking, while Graham Brooks falls into the generational social construct known as “the millennial,” in actuality the Barishi guitarist/vocalist is an old soul, wise and talented beyond his years. Sure, he’s got an all-in-one cellular device in his pocket like just about everyone else on the planet, but you’ll rarely find him obsessively staring into it unless necessary. He was scouring used book and record stores for classics long before it was deemed cool by the hipsters of his cohort and when it comes time to actually listening to his vinyl finds – instead of mounting them for show or posting “Look at what I bought” online missives – he prefers lengthy, involved and protracted pieces of music in direct opposition to the quick fixes required to sate the miniscule attention spans of kids these days.

Furthermore, when Brooks’ name comes up in conversation, a soon-to-be classic yarn quickly follows: last year, he was asked to provide a guest spot solo record on Cable’s Take the Stairs to Hell album. Instead of utilizing modern and available technology and facelessly recording and emailing in his contribution, the worryingly tall gentle giant drove five hours non-stop from his home in central Vermont to a Boston recording studio, laid down his solo in a matter of minutes then almost immediately got back in his car and drove the five hours home. Without a hint of self-consciousness or ironic arrogance, he’ll divulge, “I definitely have an interest in old stuff. I guess people would call me an atavist. I like to read about archeology and history and old empires and stuff like that. I remember hearing someone talk about the fleeting nature of smoke and its age throughout time and that seemed interesting to me.”

This is the launch pad for Barishi’s newest album, Old Smoke. The Green Mountain State metallic shape-shifters’ third album roils along with feet in both the distant past and foreseeable future. The record is a fulcrum for the conglomeration and combination of metal from black, progressive, doom and sludge subgenres aligned with a variety of rock musics, including classic, roots, Americana and indie. For Barishi, there are no sonic barriers, no musical borders, everything is welcome and the result of throwing all available ingredients into a melting pot to create a powerful sum of parts. It’s a notion that grizzled urbanites and dichotomous us-against-them thinkers might view as achingly naive or treacherously liberal, but in the alchemical context of novel robustness emerging from the distillation of the best of disparate parts, Old Smoke exists as a beacon of light and strength. This is something Brooks attributes not only to the experience the band has gained since forming in 2010, but also the isolation of growing up as hopeful metalheads in rural Vermont.

As a pre-teen, Brooks’ family moved him to the tiny village of West Dover in order to live and eventually work on the family farm, where he lives and works to this day. While precociously and proudly sporting an Iron Maiden shirt at the grocery store one day, he was spotted by, and became friends with, Dylan Blake and the two joined forces when they ended up at the same high school in town.

“Dylan was known around as a drum wizard, I played guitar and [bassist] John [Kelley] got into metal a little later, but we were always friends so we just started rocking out together and have just stuck with it.

“Early on, we didn’t know anybody or how to get shows until this guy in Burlington started running this thing called Metal Mondays at a club called Nectars, which is the place Phish got their start at,” he says about the band’s primordial age. “That was where we were able to become a little more professional, figure out what we were doing and what we wanted to do. But Vermont’s cool because it’s so isolated and because there’s not a lot to do people come out to metal shows. Some old hippie will come out and have a great time just because that’s what’s happening in town. It’s small enough that there are no scene politics with this genre of kids versus that genre of kids; if there’s a show, people go to it. I think that attitude has allowed us to do our own thing while playing to everybody. Once in a while I’ll talk to somebody from a big city and they’ll mention the woes of trying to play to fans of a certain subgenre and how it never goes over. We don’t really have that in Vermont.”

Originally an instrumental band called Atlatl, the band joined forces with vocalist Sascha Simms and switched to the Barishi moniker in 2012. The then-quartet recorded and self-released a self-titled album in 2013 which caught the eye and ear of the likes of Decibel, Metal Hammer, New Noise, and, most importantly, Season of Mist. Being offered a recording contract slathered the Barishi camp in surprise (“We had done a fair bit of DIY touring, but it wasn’t like we were the big local band or had any buzz at all”) and sparked a growing ambition which begat the band’s 2016 album, Blood from the Lion’s Mouth. Shortly after the debut’s release though, Simms and the band parted ways which put Barishi in a holding pattern for a few months until they decided to stop looking for a replacement and fill the position internally.

“We tried a few other singers until I ended up grabbing the vocal reins. There weren’t hordes of disappointed fans or protesting crowds of Sascha loyalists,” Brooks says with a self-deprecating laugh, “so it made it easier to make the sort of identity change that most bands would worry about. Plus, it was hard to find people willing to give up as much as you have to and put in the work to be in a band.”

Once they traversed the hurdle of Simms’ departure, the now-trio discovered a new side of the band. Now that they didn’t have to concern themselves with what to do with a vocalist during lengthy instrumental parts, the songs got longer, more exploratory, grandiose and epic. Add on to that the fact that Old Smoke was gestated over a three year period and it becomes clear why this album brims with a monumental magnanimity.

“Not having a vocalist meant we could do our thing a little more. This was also the first time we demo-ed things extensively and through that process I was able to get a better perspective on the songs and shape them a little bit more towards something we’d want to listen to. I remember having a conversation with a friend about our shared love of Iron Maiden and one of us said something about Maiden being one of those bands that, when you put on a song, you instantly feel like you’re going on a quest. I thought that was bad ass and really wanted to write songs that could be considered ‘quest-worthy.’ I’d say that was a big thing when we were writing these songs: writing longer songs that went somewhere without making them seem cumbersome.”

Despite the excellence of Old Smoke, Barishi is humble and fully cognizant of their position as low rung on the ladder at Season of Mist, in particular, and in the metal scene, in general. Brooks reveals without hesitation that “I’m still surprised we weren’t dropped after losing a charismatic frontman like Sascha,” and that “We’re still new to and nervous about playing big markets like NYC” despite recent tours with Weedeater and Tombs. But with tracks like the lassoed meandering of awesome album opener “The Silent Circle,” the sinister black metal/noise rock slashing of “The Longhunter” and the sky-opening prog-metal enormity of the title track leading the charge, Old Smoke is set to make an indelible mark on the metal scene; one dripping with passion for the art of progressive song writing, honest creative expression and the hunt for one’s individual voice while paying homage to the well-worn parts of record collections.

“A big goal we have is having the band catch up to our tastes in music. Sometimes people have good taste in music, but what they create doesn’t always reflect the quality of that taste. I like to think I have good taste in music and I think we’re starting to reflect that in the music we make. There are bands we really respect that can write super-long, beautiful songs you can listen to and it sucks if you get interrupted because you want to listen to the whole thing in one shot. We want to have songs like that, songs you look forward to listening to. We also want to have an enjoyable creative process in creating something that sits well with us; to make something that survives the long term and is a fair representation of the stuff we’re into.”

Old Smoke it is, then!

NECRONOMICON Announces Run of Canadian Shows

Canadian blackened death metal horde NECRONOMICON will be performing a run of shows in Quebec and Newfoundland this November! The run kicks off on November 12 in St. John, NF & will conclude in Trois Rivieres, QC on November 19. The full tinerary and ticket links can be found below!

Montreal’s premier blackened death metallers are back with 'UNUS', the crushing and cinematic follow up to 2016’s 'Advent of the Human God'. With each record NECRONOMICON has created in the span of their 31-year career, the band has steadily evolved in both sound and power; 'UNUS' is no exception to this.

Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s legendary grimoire, NECRONOMICON formed in 1988 by founding guitarist and singer Rob "The Witch" in the deep, northern part of Canadian province Quebec, Fjord of Saguenay. Since then, the band have carefully released each full-length without haste, allowing them to perfect every nuance before unleashing their sonic assaults upon the masses. In 2019, NECRONOMICON was presented with a certificate of honor for over 30 years of service via H.S. production/Tommy Tremblay, and the people of Saguenay Lac St Jean, making them the second band after VOIVOD to ever receive this honor.

'UNUS' is a searing cacophony of blistering riffs, machine-like drums, and a symphonic ambience, culminating in a sound that calls to various metal icons such as DIMMU BORGIR, SEPTICFLESH, BEHEMOTH, and DEICIDE. The record combines the furious elements of death metal with the orchestral prowess of black metal, creating the perfect synthesis of both genres. Standout tracks like “Paradise Lost” and “Singularis Dominus” only solidify NECRONOMICON’s ability to continuously produce high quality metal that’s just as dark and brutal as it is elegant.

German postpunk icons PINK TURNS BLUE bring October-December tour dates, along with 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP'

"One of the most ethically driven and environmentally conscious post-punk artists of our time... powerful" ~ The Spill Magazine

"Consistent purveyors of quality guitar-laden post punk and dark-bent indie rock... one of the most honest and most direct enduring acts in post punk today" ~ Destroy // Exist

"The timeless message is driven home with a timeless sound composed with refined effect" ~ Post-Punk.com

"They have had high ranks in the charts and still have a place deep in the heart of many fans" ~ Reflections of Darkness

"When it comes to actual darkwave, Berlin’s Pink Turns Blue are rightly regarded as one of the founding acts... one of the finer exemplars of continental postpunk" ~ CVLT Nation

Trailblazing darkwave-postpunk pioneers Pink Turns Blue are at the half-way mark of their long-awaited TAINTED 2022 tour as they cross North America and select cities in the UK, Germany and Spain. Especially for this tour, the trio has also released the 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP'.

Riding on the strength of their 'Tainted' album, released in late 2021 via Orden Records, and on the trail of their recently released single 'Not Gonna Take It', Pink Turns Blue brings this music to fans from one coast to another while also sharing four new songs that reflect their emotional state in today’s world.

Formed in 1985 in the first generation of gothic rock and named after a Hüsker Dü song, today Pink Turns Blue is Mic Jogwer (vocals, guitar), Paul Richter (drums) and Luca Sammuri (bass). Their debut album 'If Two Worlds Kiss' advanced the darkwave sub-genre while becoming a seminal post-punk album. Emerging from the fear and uncertainty of Cold War Germany, they have since released a dozen full-length LPs.

Both the 'Tainted' LP and the new EP relate to a world in havoc and the seemingly powerlessness of today's youth to take over the world and change it for the better. But this album is also a call to never give up, to never lose faith or the understanding that making this world just a bit better every day is what makes our lives worth living.

With potent singles such as 'Not Even Trying', 'You Still Mean Too Much To Me', 'There Must Be So Much More' and 'So Why Not Save The World' address such themes as climate change, its effects, the reaction to it, the split within society, isolation, health risks and financial uncertainty.

“Since Pink Turns Blue presented the ‘Tainted’ album, things have changed for the worse, or have become more desperate and we have used this time to develop a few songs from the ‘Tainted’ sessions further - songs that didn’t make it onto the album since they were not ready yet, says In defiance of the global trend that the powerful use any excuse to enforce their agenda and defend their accumulation of benefices, more and more people see through it and stand up – for themselves and never give up to make this world just a little bit better," says Mic Jogwer.

"Since February 24 (actually my birthday), when Russia invaded Ukraine, things became even worse. Instead of slowly getting back to “normal” and trying to get our humanity’s shit together and to alleviate climate change and the consequential effects, now we have to cope with war and an energy, food and financial crisis (again) with the risk of losing the battle for equality, climate change, peace... you name it. So now the world is not only TAINTED but is in DISARRAY".

The 'TAINTED Tour-2022 EP' is out now everywhere online. 2021's 'Tainted' LP is also available via Apple Music and Spotify, with CD and limited-edition vinyl editions available via the band's website. Tour tickets can be ordered at https://pinkturnsblue.com/live-dates.

Whiskey Myers Grace POLLSTAR Cover Ahead of Personally Curated Firewater Music Festival

WHISKEY MYERS GRACE POLLSTAR COVER:
“RED DIRT ROCK WHISKEY MYERS TAKES ON THE WORLD”

Rolling Stone’s “New Torch Bearers for Southern Music” Continue Selling Out Amphitheater Tour Dates Ahead of Personally Curated
Firewater Music Festival This Week, Sept. 29 – Oct. 1

Critically Acclaimed
Tornillo Album Available Now

Road warriors Whiskey Myers have played more than 2,500 shows since their emergence in 2007, yet this year’s touring has reached yet another level for the band who earns their reputation as American Songwriter’s “Country Rock Royalty,” having sold over 281,000-and-counting tickets year to date. With recent milestones including a single-day sellout of their Red Rocks Amphitheatre debut and back-to-back nights at the Ryman Auditorium (with the second show added after night one sold out in just 30 minutes), plus a headlining arena show in front of more than 10,000 fans set for Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena next month, the multi-Platinum independent band arrives emphatically as this week’s POLLSTAR cover artist, with the magazine noting, “Somewhere between the six-string swagger of Southern rock and the hard-charging improv-aspect of jam bands, Whiskey Myers ignited a national fervor for Red Dirt Music.”

“An outlier of alt-country with more thrust, Southern cousin of the Black Keys or spiritual grandchild of Waylon and Willie’s Outlaw Country, Whiskey Myers is currently taking a regional movement global,” adds the magazine, noting “Whiskey Myers offers sobering pieces of broken lives that go unseen.”

In addition to their sold-out tour dates to ever-increasing crowd sizes across the globe, the band from East Texas is also keen to remember their roots, hosting the annual Wiggy Thump Festival in their hometown to benefit the local youth livestock association. Yet they began dreaming even bigger in the festival space with last year’s inaugural edition of their personally curated Firewater Music Festival held outside Kansas City, which will return with an impressive lineup of musical friends plus a wide array of outdoor lifestyle activities this week, Sept. 29 – Oct. 1. Limited tickets remain HERE.

“It’s lightning in a bottle,” lead singer Cody Cannon shared with POLLSTAR of the event and its lineup, continuing, “You know, people really seem to want real bands. And if that’s what they’re looking for, well, that’s all that we are... all we’ve really ever been.”

Live is where the band known for that authenticity and celebrated by Esquire for their “straight-up, booze-swilling, highway-driving, heart-on-your-sleeve, blood-on-your-knuckles country music” makes an undeniable impression, yet their recorded music also speaks volumes. The July release of Tornillo, recorded during a 21-day period of isolation at the Sonic Ranch studio just miles from the U.S./Mexico border, marked the band’s second time self-producing and featured the genre-bending band doubling down on what they do best: sharing honest truths with no-holds-barred instrumentation, letting the genre-bending music speak for itself.

As American Songwriter declared of Tornillo, the band is “in a league of their own with their signature hard-rocking sound on full display… Saddle up and settle in because Whiskey Myers is ready to take listeners on a country, rock, and blues-infused wild ride.” “Southern rock is alive and well on Whiskey Myers’ Tornillo – and it comes with a brassy border-town swagger,” added Nashville Lifestyles in the magazine’s July print issue. “Equal parts train songs, tenacious energy, and Tabasco… their lawless musicality burns like the sun.”

Whether recorded or live, it’s clear that what Classic Rock declares of Whiskey Myers has never been truer: “Authenticity: you can’t buy it, you can’t bluff it. And you can’t beat it when it comes to delivering dirty, down-home, electric guitar music from the American South.”

Reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year and current CMA triple-nominee Miranda Lambert celebrated the launch of “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency,” this past weekend at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The headlining residency debut featured high-energy entertainment and poignant stripped-back moments spanning the three-time GRAMMY winner’s iconic career from her 2005 debut, Kerosene, to this year’s critically-acclaimed Palomino.

“We’ve been dreaming up this show for so long to make it something special for the fans and to celebrate all the music we’ve enjoyed together over the years,” reflects Lambert. “It felt amazing to finally take everything we’ve rehearsed and share it with that room full of people. I can’t wait to do it again next weekend and to make Vegas our own supersized honky tonk for months to come!”

Clad in a bright blue embroidered ensemble by The Blonds inspired by one of Elvis’s Vegas jumpsuits and topped with a glitzy Sin City-appropriate Daniel x Diamond cowboy hat, Lambert rose slowly on an upstage lift to officially kick off the eight month residency Friday evening with sassy opener “Actin’ Up,” settling in on her new home stage with the playful lyrical motto: “Got my own kind of country, kind of funky, t-t-turn it up!” From there, as she moved into an exhilorating rendition of “Fastest Girl in Town,” the pyrotechnics exploded with the energy of what was to come as the at-capacity crowd basked in the excitement of opening night.

Backed by her longtime band featuring guitarists Ethan Ballinger and Jerry Massey, steel guitarist Spencer Cullum, keys player Daniel Mitchell, bassist Jonathan Murray, backing vocalist Gwen Sebastian and drummer Max Zemanovic, Lambert treated fans to more than 20 songs throughout her wide-ranging 90 minute set. From an especially touching performance of Lambert’s emotive ballad “Carousel,” backed only by a piano as she stood flanked by towering spotlights, to a rousing rendition of her triple-Platinum hit “Gunpowder & Lead” that wowed the audience with its grand finale as the fringed sleeves of her pink Idyllwind jacket burst into sparkling flames, the musical celebration was well worth the wait for both Lambert and her fans.

“We made it! We’re so damn glad to be playing for people tonight; we’ve been rehearsing for a really long, long time,” Lambert shared midway through her set on Friday night as she introduced inclusive anthem “All Kinds of Kinds,” continuing, “This song is your friendly reminder to be who you are, always, all the time – ‘cause you just might end up in Vegas on a stage with bright lights, you never know!”

Saturday’s show maintained the high-energy atmosphere of opening night, from a poignant rendition of her GRAMMY Award-winning “The House That Built Me,” with the crowd taking over lead vocals for the final chorus, to an invigorating performance of her ACM Single of the Year-winning number “Mama’s Broken Heart” and a full audience singalong for the penultimate number, “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home),” as confetti rained from the ceiling.

Tickets for shows through April 9, 2023 are on sale now at ticketmaster.com/mirandavegas, with shows scheduled to begin at 8 p.m.

Designed exclusively for Zappos Theater and promoted by Live Nation and Caesars Entertainment, “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency” gives fans an up close and personal opportunity to experience live performances of Lambert’s numerous chart-topping songs and beloved album cuts. Emmy Award winning Producer Raj Kapoor (GRAMMYs, Oscars, ACM Awards) serves as Creative Director / Co-Production Designer with Tom Sutherland of DX7 as Lighting Designer / Co-Production Designer.

Lambert, Live Nation Las Vegas and Caesars Entertainment are donating $1 of every ticket purchased to “Miranda Lambert: Velvet Rodeo The Las Vegas Residency” at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino to Lambert’s MuttNation Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that has raised over $6 million since its inception in 2009. About Miranda Lambert
Palomino, the eighth solo album from Vanner Records/RCA Nashville superstar Miranda Lambert, arrived in April as the largest female Country album debut of 2022. Already named among the best albums of the year by TIME, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Stereogum and more, it marks the latest installment in a storied career that has spanned seven previous No. 1 solo albums, 10 No. 1 hit radio singles, more than 70 prestigious awards and countless sales certifications, earning the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year praise from NPR as “the most riveting country star of her generation.”

Now headlining her Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Zappos Theater, the top streaming female Country artist of 2022 was also named to the 2022 TIME100 list honoring the world’s most influential people, with Pitchfork declaring that she “manages the hat-trick of both timelessness and timely activism.” Whether challenging conventional gender notions in her recent Top 10 hit “If I Was A Cowboy” or using her voice to write and record the inclusive “Y’All Means All” anthem for the latest season of Netflix’s “Queer Eye,” the Texas native continues to expand the tent of the Country genre via her music, including current single “Strange.”

Her clothing and cowboy boot collection, Idyllwind, is a private-label brand sold at all Boot Barn stores nationwide and her home goods collection, Wanda June, is available now at Walmart.com. An avid animal lover, Lambert’s MuttNation pet product line is available exclusively at Tractor Supply Co. with proceeds benefitting her MuttNation Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit that has raised over $6 million since its inception in 2009. The Foundation’s mission is to promote the adoption of rescue pets, support animal shelters across the country, advance spay & neuter and assist with the transport of animals during times of natural disaster.

SPACE OF VARIATIONS Release New Single “1M followers (feat. Denis Stoff)” + Visualizer!

New Album, 'IMAGO', Released Today

Get it HERE

EU/UK Tour to Support Within Destruction Starts Soon!

After Ukrainian metalcore unit SPACE OF VARIATIONS had to delay the release of their new album due to the ongoing war in their homeland, the day has finally come for 'IMAGO' to meet the world, unleashed today via Napalm Records!

Fasten your seatbelts and prepare for full speed when diving into the thrilling, high energy soundscapes of the outfit's second offering.

SPACE OF VARIATIONS adds:

"After a worldwide pandemic, an unjust war, two album release delays, and a lot of hoping, worrying, praying, and thinking that this album may never come out - 'IMAGO' is finally out! This one is for our people back in Ukraine, for our friends, family, and fans. This one is for us! Hope you can enjoy the music as much as we do …"

SPACE OF VARIATIONS invaded the underground metalcore scene leaving a lasting impression that makes fans instantly hungry for more. Their unique, powerful songwriting skills exceed all expectations, fearlessly merging different genres while captivating with their futuristic style. The unpredictable and emotive atmosphere of the album reflects SPACE OF VARIATIONS’ attitude: always on a roll at maximum speed, unapologetically crashing the scene.

Their newest single, 1M followers (feat. Denis Stoff) comes with a vicious visualizer and delivers the final jab of the album release. In the tradition of acts like Bring Me The Horizon and Architects, the song delivers mesmerizing, punching riffs and pounding drums. In preparation of their EU/UK tour supporting Within Destruction kicking off soon, followed by an extensive North American tour with JINJER and P.O.D., SPACE OF VARIATIONS will reveal their full spectrum of pure metal energy that cannot be missed.

Listen to “1M followers (feat. Denis Stoff)”

SPACE OF VARIATIONS on 'IMAGO':

"The main symbolism of the album is hidden in its title - 'IMAGO'. In entomology, imago is the last stage an insect attains during its metamorphosis. In psychology, it's one of the fundamental concepts, an unconscious mental image a person has of himself, other objects of reality and his blood ties through the prism of his perception. As an insect breaks through the shell of a chrysalis to free itself from the protective cocoon surrounding it, you, too, through inner transformation can really become the new being, which, in fact, you were always meant to be. Imago = new stage, Imago = maturation.

Only in retrospect can one see the imago, which was previously hidden in the shadows. The future is being prepared in the bosom of the past and the present.

Imago is the most complete convergence with yourself that can only happen.

With this album, SPACE OF VARIATIONS are definitely moving to a new round of self-development as a creative organism."

Venom INc. Release Video For Title Track Of "There's Only Black" + New Album Out Now!

The day has come for extreme metal pioneers VENOM INC. to finally unleash their new album, There’s Only Black, in its devastating entirety! Their sophomore album is a no-holds-barred assault on bigoted hypocrisy and conformism in today's society, as well as a demonstration of musical superiority delivered by some of the genre's true originators.

In celebration, VENOM INC. have released a video for the title track 'There's Only Black', which can be watched below.

Almost 40 years after their inception, the revitalized 1989 - 1992 Venom line-up of guitarist Jeff “Mantas” Dunn and vocalist/bassist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan, and the new addition of drummer Jeramie “Warmachine” Kling have returned with one hell of a follow-up to their acclaimed debut, Avé, and show no signs of slowing down.

ABOUT VENOM INC.

As 2015 swept in it brought with it a solid revival of traditional Metal bands. A chance encounter and request brought and offer to Tony Dolan (Vocalist and Bassist) to reform the lineup of VENOM that had recorded the classic "Prime Evil" album and solid follow-up albums that kept the band very much alive during the onslaught of Grunge and Brit-pop that destroyed all but the most hardy in the early 1990's Metal had suffered at the hands of the new trend but VENOM (with this lineup) refused to alter or die and so continued the legacy that had begun when Jeff Dunn (aka Mantas - Guitar) formed the original band in 1979 and brought the world extreme Metal in the form of the "Welcome To Hell" and "Black Metal" albums.

The albums penned mostly by Dunn, exposed the world to a new way of music taken to the extremes, and with a pinch of darkness and the controversial odor they raised their heads from the grave as if they had always been lying in wait and brought chaos to a neatly formed music industry.

Topped off with the voice of Clive 'Jesus Christ' Archer and later by Cronos and The Demolition Man the band was and still is a force of nature. While others attempt to take credit for all things VENOM the truth is not a hidden mystery but rather written on tablets like the ten commandments but unlike religion, you do not need faith to follow VENOM or their ideas and music but simply ears to hear.

'Somewhere In Time, We Were Born ..' they sing and it has become their mantra. Today's scenes are full of examples taken from this classic band. Images and themes and even a whole genre taking its name from the seminal Black Metal album. The characters were and still are larger than life to fans but it is the music that carries the flame. The true inspiration for all is the dark heavy vibes tinged with a Black and Roll touch.

VENOM INC. began again in 2015 by accident almost and the name was not a choice but given by fans, agents, promoters, etc. On reflection, it is just a matter and fact that this band is true and real and carries the true spirit which began in 1979 and will end their days being that spirit that was lost somewhere over the years. Perhaps it is inevitable for a band to change or grow away from its original intent but every single Legionnaire from the VENOM's Legions knows..their own moment that made them a lifelong fan and so it is to this end that VENOM INC will continue to grow and perform the classics from the legacy with heart and soul and true meaning and will write with this same intent in mind so that new fans too may realize that a real band playing with all they have to give still exists and are still very important in this growing age of digital separation from reality.

VENOM INC. has been touring without pause since its first appearance at KEEP IT TRUE festival in Germany in 2015 and have taken its brand of energy and performance across the globe on many European tours, Asia, the US, all over South and Central America, Hellfest, Bloodstock, Alcatrazz, Wacken are among the countless festivals shows, a special invitation to tour with Glenn Danzig and a special appearance at the Original Misfits show at Chicago’s ‘All State Arena’, as well as Special invited guests by The Metal Allegiance in New York City amongst the list of other things, live is where the band truly live but now it is time for a new album and the writing has not stopped 2021 we shall see the new album and new shows taking the world into its arms once again and embracing it and it's dark heavy soul

Dayseeker Share "Dreamstate" Visualizer

Southern California's Dayseeker recently announced their new album 'Dark Sun'.

The album arrives November 4 via Spinefarm. Pre-order it HERE

The band has just shared the visualizer for the new single "Dreamstate".

Watch & Listen Below.

"'Dreamstate' is about my experiences in dreaming of my father, who passed last July and truly feeling like we were communicating while it was happening," front man Rory Rodriguez shares about the intensely person track. "It was a beautiful thing to experience on one hand... but also very heartbreaking and disorienting with my sense of reality on the other."

The album, as a whole, is incredibly contemplative, with Rodriguez having said, "'Dark Sun' is a collection of songs that deeply explored my personal life over the last two years. Most of it is written about my father's passing, about how it felt like the sun burned out the day he passed, and how the world is a little darker without him in it."

After a successful summer headliner run, Dayseeker will be back on the road this fall supporting Bad Omens. All dates are below.

Dayseeker are a quiet killer. The band has steadily built a buzz over the past several years — and they have reached a tipping point. Dayseeker built themselves into a scene standout with 2019's 'Sleeptalk', which was hailed by Alternative Press as "a warm and welcome release to higher ground" and as "much needed fresh air into the post-hardcore scene." The album has gone on to accumulate over 150 million streams, and it positioned the band as a formidable force — and one that is primed to take its next big leap.

In 2021, the band dropped a deluxe version of 'Sleeptalk', featuring four reimagined versions of album tracks, which offered fans a fresh and unique take on songs they already love. It also demonstrated the depth and breadth of the band's creative vision, scope, and possibilities.

However, 'Dark Sun' will be Dayseeker's moment and is set to catapult the band beyond the scene's stratosphere.

Dalton Dover Releases New Song "Damn Good Life"

Following the announcement of his global deal with Sony Music Publishing and Droptine Music Publishing earlier this week, the MusicRow-dubbed “master country talent” Dalton Dover releases his new song “Damn Good Life,” written by Dover, Alex Maxwell and Jaxson Free. Listen to “Damn Good Life” below.

“I wanted to write a song that makes people smile. There are plenty of drinkin’ songs, and there are plenty of love songs, but not enough feel-good songs,” Dover shares. “When Alex, Jaxson and I sat down, we were having a great day and ‘Damn Good Life’ basically wrote itself. It’s a reminder not to take all the little things for granted in life.”

Last month, as Dover was wrapping his seven-night Ole Red residency in Nashville, the Spotify Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch was surprised by a call from the red phone during his set with none other than Blake Shelton on the line, inviting Dover to make his Grand Ole Opry debut later this year on Dec. 3.

“I’ve done the Opry tour and I walked out on the stage for a minute, but I really didn’t get to stay out there long,” Dover shared with Country Now. “So having the opportunity to go sing out there is gonna be different. It’s gonna be an animal. It’s gonna be a game changer.”

Before he makes it into the famed circle for a performance, Dover will support Priscilla Block this fall on the Welcome to the Block Party Tour launching Oct. 13 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Tickets are on sale now.

Today’s release follows “Hear About A Girl,” “You Got A Small Town” and “Baby I Am,” earning Dover a spotlight as Billboard’s February Country Rookie of the Month and Country Now’s “Country Next,” sharing “Dover’s country music career may be just beginning, but his star is quickly catching fire.”

About Dalton Dover
Lauded by MusicRow as a “master country talent,” twenty-three-year-old Dalton Dover first started singing at church as a kid, winning his fifth-grade school talent show performing Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” In that moment Dover’s love of performing was born. By the age of 16 he had picked up a guitar and started teaching himself to play, yet it was his grandfather who turned him on to country music and artists such as Keith Whitley, Rhett Akins, Joe Diffie and Steve Wariner. Enamored with the honesty and storytelling found in country music, Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes” was the first song Dover taught himself to play on guitar. Performances at local bars soon followed along with sharing covers of some of his favorite songs on TikTok. It was there he caught the ear of producer Matt McV and A&R Veteran and founder of Droptine Recordings, Jim Catino, who quickly signed Dover.

Married to his high school sweetheart, Faith, the two have lived in the same rural Georgia small town, population 1,200, all their lives, important for the Dovers to give their two young children, Taylor and Alyiah, the same idyllic childhood they had growing up — the life one finds in a small town. And it’s that pace and familiarity he enjoys so much that he sings about on his debut track “You Got a Small Town.” Produced by McV, “You Got A Small Town” quickly garnered critical acclaim from Billboard, MusicRow, Country Now and Wide Open Country. With his debut and follow-up “Baby I Am” earning notable playlisting, Dover was named a Spotify Hot Country 2022 Artist to Watch. Follow-up “Hear About A Girl” saw critical acclaim, with MusicRow sharing, “We’re in the presence of a master country talent when this man sings.” Dover’s latest single “Damn Good Life,” cowritten with Alex Maxwell and Jaxson Free is available now, with plans to release more new music later this year.

After opening for Luke Comb’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium show in Atlanta, Ga., Dover set out on his seven-night residency, performing across multiple locations of Blake Shelton’s Ole Red, where he was invited to make his Grand Ole Opry debut Dec. 3. Before performing from the famed circle, Dover will bring his captivating live set to Priscilla Block’s Welcome to the Block Party Tour this fall, kicking off Oct. 13 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Thousand Below’s vulnerable, ambient, yet ultimately hopeful self-examination of loss, life and healing is an enduring theme resonating in the band’s signature sound. The range within their genre is an homage to the band’s intimate experience through the stages of grief. The American quartet-- James DeBerg [vocals], Josh Thomas [guitar], Josh Billimoria [Bass], and Max Santoro [drums]-- descend into the visceral anger and raw anguish echoing throughout their lyrically-jarring debut album The Love You Let Too Close (Rise Records), followed by the somber instrumentation of an ultimately quieter emotional discourse in their sophomore album Gone In Your Wake (Rise Records).

South Carolina dream-gazers Candy Coffins present 'Seaside Girls' ahead of 'Once Do It With Feeling' LP

"A compelling example of the band at their considerable best, walking a fine-tuned line between darkness and the silver-lining of new romanticism. Haunting with loads of energy, this song boasts some impressive guitar work and, of course, excellence in frontman Jame Lathren's nervous, edgy vocal delivery" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"Candy Coffins take no prisoners with lush instrumentation and sombre storytelling. Their gothic post-punk vortex engulfs you. Poignant vocal melodies swoon amongst soft guitars and expansive synths to craft a song that will continue wandering the sonic corridors of your mind" ~ The Record Stache

"An enthralling and fascinating listen with their sonic imagery, emotional turbulence and new romantic underpinnings. With a wistful sound and vocal likeness to The Cure’s Robert Smith, their melancholy interchanges with adrenaline from song to song amidst picturesque soundscapes and heartfelt lyricism"
~ Skylight Webzine

Post-punk new romantics Candy Coffins present 'Seaside Girls', the second taster from the band's new album 'Once Do It With Feeling', a loaded 10-track collection that arrives two years after the band's latest 'Somehow Misplaced' EP.

"When the pandemic hit, I decided I would not write a dark song as the first one written during the period. It seemed too easy given the times. It took me three months, but we got 'Seaside Girls' from the effort, which is an upbeat sun-drenched rocker on the new album, 'Once Do It With Feeling.' It’s all the rage," says frontman-songwriter Jame Lathren.

Earlier, the band released 'Every Day A Fresh Atrocity' and an accompanying video created by Jame Lathren, exploring the dark corners and haunting suffocation of a broken relationship.

This album showcases mature strides in songwriting, the band relating the themes addressed both confidently and cohesively. Emotionally and sonically saturated, their music boasts Cure-esque textures and melody, as well as the thematic elements and visceral delivery of The Afghan Whigs.

Lathren notes, "The full album chronicles a relationship from the onset of the first crack to its complete crumbling dissolution. All the feelings and emotions of tumult are captured here, from both persons’ perspectives."

Vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Jame Lathren, a small-town boy who admired artists who were not on popular radio, formed Candy Coffins in 2018 in Columbia, South Carolina. A cultural outcast, his resilience, sensitivity and hyper-awareness of his emotional state would ultimately permeate his own music, getting right to the heart of the emotions surrounding the human condition.

After disbanding his previous post-punk band Crown The Cake, he formed Candy Coffins with hometown guitar legend Tom Alewine (Bachelors of Art), followed by seasoned music scene veterans Alex Mabrey on bass and Justin Purdy on keys, and former Iron & Wine touring drummer Jonathan Bradley. Their dynamic and textured approach has contributed to the band's trademark lush sound, channeling and bolstering Lathren’s emotive songwriting and delivery.

With tasteful nods to Joy Division, The Cure, The Psychedelic Furs, The Afghan Whigs and The Cult, as well as contemporaries like The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spiritualized, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Interpol, Candy Coffins’ sound is dark and emotionally restless, but with elements of hope and elation. Defiantly unique, their sound is a welcome respite from musical mediocrity.

As of September 20, 'Seaside Girls' will be available everywhere digitally, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where 'Every Day A Fresh Atrocity' can also be found. The 'Once Do It With Feeling' LP will be released on October 21 and can be ordered at https://candycoffins.bandcamp.com.

Seattle indie rockers Black Nite Crash take us on a 'Sugarwave' ahead of 'Washed in the Sound with Black Nite Crash' LP

"Slow and brooding, their mixture of psychedelia and rock, with this steady yet mysterious backdrop and consecutive male-female-vocals, is a winning formula, producing an inescapably transcendent vortex of sound" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

"The boy/girl vocal play-off is wonderous in the extreme, and the graceful Doorsian groove is delivered better than most attempts to capture that louche, psychedelic majesty... The music itself feels like it is from a different sonic world" ~ Big Takeover Magazine

"A fascination of beguiling emotion and encroaching shadows... the richest infection of catchiness and inspiriting persuasion" ~ Ringmaster Review

"Effervescent... all the hallmarks of the mid-90s indie style: fuzzed-out guitars, bouncy rhythms, and a kaleidoscope of influences. Firmly in the realm of bands like Lightning Seeds, Eels, The Beta Band, and The Wonder Stuff" ~ Post-Punk.com

Seattle-based outfit Black Nite Crash presents 'Sugarwave', a high energy single with a driving, melodic take on indie-rock influenced post-punk, the second single from their album 'Washed in the Sound with Black Nite Crash', mixed by longtime collaborator Matt Brown (Trespassers William) and mastered by Adam Straney.

Earlier, Black Nite Crash released the lead track 'The Take', a storyteller-led pulsating noir singalong with a trippy silhouette-laden video. Both tracks preview the most diverse set of songs the band has ever released, combining their trademark fuzzed out guitars with some newer flavours.

Black Nite Crash is Jim Biggs (vocals, guitar), John Parker (bass), James Stone(guitar), Tony Zuniga (drums) and Claire Tucker (guitar/vocals). Formed twenty years ago, Black Nite Crash has involved more than 30 members over the years, surrounding Jim Biggs, the last remaining original member. Yet somehow, the band has maintained a coherent sound and vision.

"The lyrics for 'Sugarwave' started out as scenes from a dream wherein my husband pulled some rather out-of-character capers. It got me thinking about dreams he's told me about, where I did strange or terrible things, and what that might mean about our perception of each other -- and even whether there was some hidden truth to the dreams. The song eventually developed into an impression of the gap between people's true internal selves and how everyone else perceives us, and the attempt to bridge that gap, impossible as it may be. But the desire to be known can be at odds with the allure of likes and compliments and approvals and little dopamine hits -- and that's the Sugarwave," says Claire Tucker.

"The energy of the song is undeniable - we can't keep still while playing it. We haven't done anything quite like it in a while. It's another piece on the new record that feels, for us, like a bit of a departure from the last few albums. We've been trying to let the songs just come and guide us rather than trying to force things to sound like some preconceived notion of what the band should sound like".

Work on the 'Washed in the Sound with Black Nite Crash' LP began before the pandemic, the songs a reflection of a band finding its feet again, with (then) relatively new members Claire Tucker and Sharim Johnson putting their imprint on this batch of songs. Then lockdowns began before tracking could be completed.

"This is the band's fifth full length in nearly twenty years of existence, and it looks to be the start of a period of more frequent releases as we work through our backlog of unreleased recorded songs, not to mention the surplus of new material we're working on even now," says Jim Biggs.

As of September 20, 'Sugarwave' will be available everywhere online, including Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. The 'Washed in the Sound with Black Nite Crash' LP will be released on October 14 through American boutique label Neon Sigh.

To celebrate their new album, Black Nite Crash will be playing a handful of live shows, beginning with an October 8 album release show at Seattle's The Central Saloon, followed by the Portland release show at The Six on November 5.

Drumming Phenom/ Music Mogul Jason Hartless (Ted Nugent, Joe Lynn Turner, Eric Martin) Launches a Successful Record La

27-year-old Jason Hartless has been an in demand drummer in the music world for quite a number of years. He began touring at the tender age of 11 years old and at 14, still yet to see a day of high school, he became a hired gun drummer for one of the opening acts on Motley Crue’s “Crue Fest 2” tour that crisscrossed the United States the summer of 2009. He was recruited at 20 years old by the fellow Detroit native, Ted Nugent, and has since been his go-to drummer on all Nugent related work. Jason and Nugent just finished up the Sold-Out “Detroit Muscle” US summer tour. While working with Nugent, Jason has also toured and/or recorded with other artists such as Sponge, Joe Lynn Turner (Deep Purple, Rainbow), Tantric, Mitch Ryder, Pop Evil and Insane Clown Posse. Jason will be heading out this fall drumming for Eric Martin (Mr Big). (dates below)

On September 17th, 2022, Jason will be reactivating his family’s long-time business, Sound City Music Group Inc., where he will serve as a managing partner and head of product development. After working for 6 years in the same capacity at Prudential Music Group and having great success, Sound City will be relaunching with exciting releases by The Sweet, Ted Nugent, Missing Persons, Steeler, Sparks and many more fan favorites. Releases also include all forms of music media, band merchandise, and publishing services.

Jason and Sound City has partnered with legendary guitarist, songwriter and founding member of THE SWEET, Andy Scott and his boss, the legendary Ted Nugent to bring fans worldwide an incredible amount of their never released music and merchandise. Sound City is a subsidiarity of Sony Music / Orchard.

"I wanted to take something that my parents worked many years to build, even before I was born. With the strong relationships we have in the music industry, I wanted to resurrect a concept/ record label that my dad started back in his years as a working musician. I have had the Sound City name as a part of my household my whole life and when the opportunity was presented for me to go on my own, I took it and ran with it. I was brought up to honor commitments, embrace loyalty and be ethical when conducing business. So I am going to stay on at Prudential for as long as I am needed or until their last product I was involved with ships,. On September 17th 2022 sees the relaunching of Sound City Music Group Inc. with my family. Like I said earlier, along touring with Ted all summer, I have been working 2 full time jobs it seems," says Jason.

He adds, "But, I am very excited for everyone to see what Sound City has coming down the pipe, so many exciting things including more from my partnerships with Andy Scott of the SWEET and my boss Ted Nugent, just so much more great things. For sure End of 2022 and 2023 is going to be an incredible year for us product and release wise, I cannot wait to share with everyone everything we have in production, but until I can tell everyone, I will just keep my mouth shut for now (Laughs)."

Singer Zosia West is no stranger to the dark side of life with lyrical content ranging from body dysmorphia, to bullying and sexual abuse; there is no shortage of expression to release in her meter and verse. Living by the motif of comforting the disturbed and disturbing the comfortable, Reign of Z has carved it's path since its inception in 2017.

Since its beginning, Reign of Z has added some heavy hits to its resume from playing the Shira Girl stage on 2018's Vans Warped Tour, co-headlining the Whisky A Go-Go in LA and even raising 125% of their Indiegogo goal surpassing its initial $5,000, allowing them to record their debut EP, Mirrors and Memoirs, with Justin Spaulding and Steve Sopchak (Ice Nine Kills), out April 19, 2019, capping off 2018 with regular radio play on 105.9 The X in Pittsburgh for the month of December.
