Manchester art-rock quartet Weimar present the single 'Heaven on High Street East' along with a new video driving home the lyrics. A lush prog indie-folk ballad, this is a Kitchen Sink Drama exploring abusive relationships in suburbia, and the vapid existence of the perpetrators of domestic abuse.

"This song also specifically explores the contrast between real life and the sanitized, sugar-coated and idealized version of reality depicted on social media, and how this is used to intensify the psychological torment and gaslighting prevalent in abusive relationships. From its lush beginnings to its intense finale, 'Heaven On High Street East' is a brutal exposition of the grim reality behind the net curtains of suburbia and the superficial facade presented by social media," says Weimar frontman Aidan Cross.

This is the latest taster from the band's debut album 'Dancing On a Volcano', out now via German Shepherd Records. Here are 12 tracks (three years in the making), which take the listener on an unpredictable excursion through the socio-political and personal challenges of our modern age.

Formed in 2016, Weimar is made up of vocalist-guitarist-songwriter Aidan Cross (The Bacillus, Black Light Mutants), bassist John Armstrong (The Speed Of Sound), drummer Anthony ‘Eddy’ Edwards (The Deceased) and guitarist Stephen Sarsen (Frank Is Dead, Playground).

Recently, Weimar shared 'Soho Rain' featuring Leeds' artist Finola, a single dedicated to London's Soho district, and 'I Smashed The Looking Glass', exploring the interrelationship between an artist's true self and their public persona. Cynical and sardonic, but also optimistic and hopeful, this song features label mate Loop-Aznavour of Adventures of Salvador on theremin. Earlier this year, Weimar also released the single 'The Girls of LA' / 'Transatlantic Confusion'.

Embracing a blend of post-punk, no wave, cabaret, psychedelia, alternative folk and gothic rock, this album was produced by Adam Crossley and Chris Guest of Vibratone Sound Studio. The cover art was created by acclaimed artist and writer Brian Gorman.

Louder Than War named Weimar amongst its 50 Bands To Watch for 2019, when they debuted the single 'John Doe / Curse the Songs', followed by 'Marvel To The State / Undesirable Master'. Having worked with legendary producer Simon ‘Ding’ Archer, they've also played with Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and goth legends Skeletal Family.

The 'Dancing On A Volcano' LP is available everywhere via German Shepherd Records, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. It was also released on CD and can be ordered directly from the artist.

Manchester art-rock quartet Weimar present the single 'I Smashed The Looking Glass', a surreal upbeat rock number enhanced by psychedelic effects, exploring such themes of identity crisis and the interrelationship between the artist's true self and their public persona.

This is the latest taster from the band's debut album 'Dancing On a Volcano' - 12 tracks that were three years in the making, which take the listener on an unpredictable excursion through the socio-political and personal challenges of our modern age.

Weimar (pronounced Vy-marr) is a four-piece made up of vocalist/ guitarist / songwriter Aidan Cross (The Bacillus, Black Light Mutants), bassist John Armstrong (The Speed Of Sound), drummer Anthony ‘Eddy’ Edwards (The Deceased) and guitarist Stephen Sarsen (Frank Is Dead, Playground).

"Thematically, this song is a response to Kraftwerk's classic 'The Hall Of Mirrors', which explored how an artist's true self is distorted and eventually lost in the creation of an ideal persona. 'I Smashed The Looking Glass' is it's spiritual sequel, exploring the artist's escape from the trappings of such a persona, a significant challenge in an age of cult icons and social media performity," says frontman Aidan Cross.

Cynical and sardonic, but also optimistic and hopeful, this song features a special guest appearance from the legendary Loop-Aznavour of Adventures of Salvador(Weimar's German Shepherd Records labelmates) on theremin, enhancing the psychedelic effects that soundtrack the narrator's identity crisis and subsequent triumph over adversity.

Weimar recentluy previewed lead single 'Soho Rain' featuring Leeds artist Finola, dedicated to London's old seedy Soho district, its dying culture and the many artistic and cultural movements that emerged there. Other themes explored on this album include gentrification and cultural erosion, unsavoury characters masquerading as respectable public figures, the grit beneath the glamour, the contrast between polished façades and the decadence within.

Through a maelstrom of musical styles and influences, this album paints a brutal and honest picture of human nature and culture in the 2020s. Earlier this year, Weimar also released the 2-track single 'The Girls of LA' with B-side 'Transatlantic Confusion'.

Embracing post-punk to no wave, cabaret, psychedelia, alternative folk and gothic rock, all blended in a distinctive fusion, this album was produced by Adam Crossleyand Chris Guest of Vibratone Sound Studio. The cover art was created by acclaimed artist and writer Brian Gorman.

Since forming in 2016, Louder Than War named Weimar amongst its 50 Bands To Watch for 2019, the year they debuted the single 'John Doe / Curse the Songs', followed by 'Marvel To The State / Undesirable Master'. Having worked with legendary post-punk producer Simon ‘Ding’ Archer, they've also played with Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and goth legends Skeletal Family.

'Dancing On A Volcano' LP is out now, available everywhere digitally via German Shepherd Records, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp. It was also released on CD and can be ordered directly from the artist.

Manchester indie rockers Weimar present 'Soho Rain', the first single from their debut album 'Dancing On a Volcano'. A wistful torch ballad paying homage to a district of London, whose former culture has been long eroded. The song features a guest appearance on sax by rising artist Finola.

Inspired by the real-life stories of former Soho sex workers, it carries a strong message of inner resilience and the ability to overcome hardship, addiction and personal struggle. This is also an affectionate homage to the dying culture of old Soho and the many artistic and cultural movements that emerged from London's seediest square mile.

"Soho Rain explores themes of nostalgia for the bygone past amidst gentrification and cultural erosion, and heartache, loss and love within the seedy backstreets of the urban metropolis - themes recurrent throughout Weimar's album. The lyrics tell of a former Soho sex worker's visit to her old haunting ground as the neighbourhood is slowly gentrified, reflecting on the hardship she faced during her years in the sex trade, the strength she subsequently gained and how the experience shaped the person she is today," says Aidan Cross.

Comprised of 12 tracks exploring an eclectic range of styles and moods, the album will be released on June 24th via German Shepherd Records, following the 2-track single 'The Girls of LA' and New Order-esque B-side 'Transatlantic Confusion'.

Produced by Adam Crossley and Chris Guest of Vibratone Sound Studio, the cover art for this single was created by acclaimed artist and writer BrianGorman. The art-rock quartet's output embraces post-punk to no wave, cabaret, psychedelia, alternative folk and gothic rock, blended in a distinctive fusion.

Manchester's WEIMAR presents ripping new single 'The Girls of LA', reflectng on the essence of the American Dream

"High-tempo and fun, this music sits perfectly in no-man's land between such genres as college indie rock, post-punk and rock n' roll - pure adrenaline with a pulsating rhythm and vocal line that adds further drive" ~ Amplify Music Magazine

“Perhaps the most important band to come out of Manchester since Magazine” – Eighth Day Magazine

“Emphatic execution of highly observant songs informed by life’s surreal and unnerving experiences, underpinned by instrumentation which is accomplished – almost oblivious to how good it actually is. Guitars jangle, jolt and drive emotion in equal measure, matched with point-hitting drums” – Louder Than War

“Post Punk artists may be fairly prolific in Manchester, but there are none quite like Weimar… Weimar’s sound is an eclectic smorgasbord of elements weaved together in an un-assimilative refreshing feat of ingenuity” – AnR Factory

Manchester-based indie rockers Weimar (pronounced Vy-marr) present their new single 'The Girls of LA' for release via German Sheperd Records on March 25th. This is the first taste of their debut album 'Dancing On A Volcano'.

Stylistically fluid and expansive, this upbeat pop-rock anthem melds Weimar’s 70s avant-garde influences with traces of 90s college rock. Lyrically it is an ode to the bottle service girls, who work LA's clubs and bars, using tips gained from punters to finance their wider career aspirations in Hollywood and the business world. It is a celebration of their business prestige, and a positive reflection on the essence of the American Dream and the road to stardom. An optimistic and life-affirming oddity in the midst of Weimar’s mostly dark repertoire.

this single comes with the B-side 'Transatlantic Confusion', a reworking of a song by singer Aidan Cross and guitarist Stephen Sarsen’s former band The Bacillus(the original version available on The Bacillus album 'I Can't Adapt To This Prison You Call Society').

Produced by Adam Crossley and Chris Guest of Vibratone Sound Studio, the cover art for this single was created by acclaimed artist and writer Brian Gorman. Long-term Weimar collaborator Nikos Pavlou directed the accompaning video, which stars rising actress and model Ashley Marsh.

Weimar is a four-piece made up of bassist John Armstrong (The Speed Of Sound), vocalist/ guitarist Aidan Cross (The Bacillus, Black Light Mutants), drummer Anthony ‘Eddy’ Edwards (The Deceased) and guitarist Stephen Sarsen (Frank Is Dead, Playground).

Since forming in 2016, Weimar emerged on the live circuit in 2017, Louder Than War named Weimar amongst its 50 Bands To Watch for 2019, the year they debuted the single 'John Doe / Curse the Songs', followed by 'Marvel To The State / Undesirable Master'. Having worked with legendary post-punk producer Simon ‘Ding’ Archer, they've also played support slots with Tom Hingley (Inspiral Carpets) and goth legends Skeletal Family.

The eclectic progressive art-rock quartet's output encompasses a range of styles from post-punk roots to no wave, cabaret, chanson, jazz, funk, psychedelia, alternative folk and gothic rock, coming together in a distinctive fusion.

As of March 25, 'The Girls of LA' will be available everywhere digitally, including Spotify and Apple Music, as well as through German Shperd records directly and the artist's Bandcamp. The full ''Dancing On A Volcano' LP, set to release on June 24th, will be available digitally and also on CD. It can already be ordered via Weimar’s own Marlene’s Hat imprint.
