Highly-anticipated “Popeye the Slayer Man” Horror Flick Gets a Killer Music Video "Sailor To Slayer"

Popeye The Slayer Man actress,

Angela Relucio, and musicians, Kyle Brian Abbott (Vigil of War) and Dustin Treinen (Paria) just unleashed “Sailor to Slayer,”an explosive alternative metal song that serves as an anthem to the much discussed horror film,

Popeye the Slayer Man, which hits select theaters as well as VOD on Friday March 21, 2025.

The trio, performing collectively as

The Man From Alphabet, also dropped an accompanying high-octane music video that pays homage to the Popeye of yesteryear as well as the reimagined, darker version.

In fact, Treinen said,” I was driven to create a dark mood for the song as a whole, but begin with something energetic that kicks in hard and has a lot of groove, eventually using a syncopated rhythm to build into a big open chorus with a thick and powerful wall of guitars and haunting vocal melodies.”

Relucio, who stars in the movie, adds, “Having been in the film, I knew the script intimately, so I wrote lyrics that go deeper than Popeye’s monstrous facade while honoring the other characters’ experience, and capturing the sort of raw chaos that makes you feel on edge. I also wanted to convey that intensity in my music video performance. So you get a taste of what you can expect from the film.”

For Abbott, whose YouTube channel with drum content has garnered over 30 million views, it was a no-brainer to jump on board; while stuck in LA traffic, he heard a radio show host raving about the movie’s announcement. Abbott recalls, “Coincidentally, Dustin called me up a few hours later and asked me to co-write the theme for it [themovie]. I was, like, ‘Fuck yeah! Dustin came in with some riff ideas and structure, and then we finalized the instrumentation and matched Angela’s lyrical ideas to the music. I’ve been producing rock and metal for about 15 years, but this was one of the first times I really got to take a song from demo to the final product and not feel any imposter syndrome through the process. It slaps, mayne."

Both the “Sailor to Slayer” song and video are set to make waves in the alternative metal scene, and with

Popeye the Slayer Man soon hitting theaters and VOD, this powerhouse collaboration promises to leave a lasting mark on fans of both horror and music.

SEC NETWORK REFRESHES SEC NATION THEME SONG AND OPENING SEQUENCE WITH COUNTRY MUSIC STAR BROOKE EDEN

As SEC Network celebrates its 10th anniversary and a new era for the Southeastern Conference with the addition of Oklahoma and Texas, SECN has tapped country music star Brooke Eden to revamp the theme song and opening sequence for SEC Nation, the network’s weekly, traveling pre-game show.

SEC Nation debuted on August 28, 2014, with a customized version of Robert Randolph and The Family Band’s “Take The Party” as its opening theme song. A decade ago, Randolph worked closely with network producers to develop custom lyrics for “Party Wherever We Go” – an SEC-centric version that complemented the show’s goal of bringing the sights and sounds of a SEC football tailgate to viewers every Saturday. 10 years later, Eden put her twist on the tune with a new sound and original lyrics to include the Sooners and Longhorns.

“It’s such a privilege to get the opportunity to put my mark on the SEC Nation theme song and opening sequence,” says Brooke. “I’m so grateful for the chance to engage with fans and celebrate the passion of college football through a song that means so much to each of us. I grew up right here in the SEC; so, these games make me feel at home even when I’m on the road.”

SEC Network viewers will hear the renewed song in full the night before the first SEC Nation of the 2024 season, when Eden releases the track across all streaming and music platforms at midnight on Friday, Aug. 30. The theme song and opening tease will premiere at 10 a.m. ET on Saturday, Aug. 31, when the show travels to Gainesville, Fla. to showcase the Florida Gators hosting in-state rival Miami Hurricanes.

SEC Nation returns to college football tailgates, stadiums and sidelines this fall, and will regularly follow the site of the 3:30 p.m. SEC on ABC showdown. Laura Rutledge will host the show for her eighth season, her ninth on the show overall, joined by Tim Tebow, Paul Finebaum, Jordan Rodgers and Roman Harper. A “Making Of” feature of Eden’s spin on “Party Wherever We Go” will air during SEC Now on ESPN2 and SEC Network on Wednesday, July 17, at 8 p.m. ET.

CONTRIBUTE THEME SONG "JUDGE PENITENT\" TO JOEYSTARR'S PODCAST "GANG STORIES"

PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE HERE: hangmanschair.bfan.link/a-loner.ema

Known for traversing borders and experimenting with contradictions and taboos, HANGMAN'S CHAIR recently contributed a track 'Judge Penitent' to rap legend JOEYSTARR's Deezer France exclusive podcast 'Gang Stories'. Shedding light on the incredible lives of gang chiefs and shady personalities of the criminal underworld, the podcast deals with the dark side of humanity - and HANGMAN'S CHAIR managed to artfully portray this dark atmosphere and put this into music.

The band states about "Judge Penitent":
"We are thrilled to contribute to the Gang Stories Podcast by JoeyStarr. It’s a podcast that tells the journey of people with incredible destinies, such as the Crips’ Stanley “Tookie” Williams, or the gang chief of Rio, William Da Silva Lima, and many more, all narrated by JoeyStarr.
For the 5th season, we have written a song, but also the theme music to accompany the exploration of the darker side of the human soul and the discovery of the great outdoors via the history of Maurice “Mom” Boucher of the Quebec Hells Angels.
It is a very special song to us, it’s one that sums up all of our different elements, and one that we feel portrays the atmosphere of such a unique tale.
If you have already listened to Gang Stories, you know the gist of it: every society has the criminals it deserves.
A huge thank you to JoeyStarr and Deezer for their trust and for giving us the chance to play a part in such a project."

Podcast host JoeyStarr adds:
"If you listen to the Gang Stories podcast, you know the gist of it: every society has the criminals it deserves.
In the 5th season, I’m taking you on the roads of North America to tell you the story of Maurice “Mom” Boucher and of the Quebec Hells Angels.
Bikers’ road trips have always been soundtracked by the drum beats and saturated guitars from the Beat Generation, with a dose of psychedelic rock and heavy metal.
To create the music for this season, calling on Hangman’s Chair seemed like an obvious choice. These guys are used to taking us through dark atmospheres, which isn’t that easy in France. There’s no better fit to help us delve into the dark sides of the human soul and explore the great outdoors."

HANGMAN'S CHAIR, formed in 2005 in Paris, is one of the most unique sounding Doom Rock bands currently active. Through the years, they have found and fine-tuned their own sonic brand, somewhere at the crossroads between Type O Negative, Life Of Agony, and Sisters of Mercy, to name a few, mixed with certain street credibility connected to the group’s roots in hardcore. Each album takes its strength and essence from the band members’ life experiences, which they portrait with unflinching honesty. Whether it is the loss of band members, drug overdoses, or the hardships of living in suburban Paris, all those human emotions resonate within each of their songs as they embrace the darkness and transform it into something beautiful, heavy, and melancholic.

HANGMAN'S CHAIR is:
Julien Chanut - Guitar
Cédric Toufouti - Guitar, Vocals
Mehdi Thepegnier - Drums
Clément Hanvic - Bass
