North Carolina indie pop outfit The Mystery Plan present the single 'Big Bliss', previewing their forthcoming 'Haunted Organic Machines' LP (their seventh full length album and 13th major release), to be released via American boutique label 10mm Omega Recordings.

This new single, which features Amy Herring on vocals, takes us to the opposite end of the spectrum from their recently-released lead track and 'What A Day' EP, a scrumptious dose of bliss-pop.

"'Big Bliss" is about feeling all the horrible things that humans do to each other while simultaneously feeling so grateful for the art that my husband brings to my life. (Regrettably) we arere news junkies in our home. The constant stream of sadness and devastation was breaking me down. I was crying daily and had to switch to waterproof mascara in an attempt to hide my tears," says Amy Herring.

A staple on the local music scene, the Charlotte-based collective started in 2010 as a duo with Jason Herring and Paul Jensen (Fetchin' Bones / the Interstellars)writing and producing everything. Jason's wife, Amy Herring, then joined. Several years later, the line-up was rounded out with Otis Hughes, Patty McLaughlin Thomas and Jefferson Chester.

Produced and mixed by Jason Herring and Rob Tavaglione, 'Haunted Organic Machines' finds the band exploring new, but familiar territory from spacey dance grooves, to spooky, moody dream pop and everything that goes with it.

The Mystery Plan is very prolific, their latest releases involving legendary producer John Fryer (This Mortal Coil, Black Needle Noise), known for seminal releases by Love and Rockets, Dead Can Dance, Nine Inch Nails, Swans, Clan of Xymox, Xmal Deutschland and Stabbing Westward, among others. This collaboration shaped The Mystery Plan albums 'Queensland Ballroom', 'Zsa Zsa' and 'You Also Have Eyes', plus an epic remix on the 'Thought Bubbles'record.

'Big Bliss' is now available digitally via Bandcamp, while the 'What a Day' EP is also available via Spotify and Apple Music. On March 31, the full ''Haunted Organic Machines' album will be released, both digitally and on CD.

Indie pop outfit The Mystery Plan are back with their 'What A Day' EP, a scrumptious dose of bliss-pop released via American boutique label 10mm Omega Recordings. This boisterous three-track offering highlights the lead track from the band's forthcoming 'Haunted Organic Machines' record - their seventh full length album and 13th major release.

A staple on the North Carolina music scene, the Charlotte-based collective started back in 2010 as a duo with Jason Herring and Paul Jensen (Fetchin' Bones / the Interstellars) writing and producing everything. Jason's wife, Amy Herring, then joined and, several years later, the line-up was rounded out with Otis Hughes, Patty McLaughlin Thomas and Jefferson Chester.

"When we were starting to come out of the pandemic we wanted to do something fun and groovy, and what happened was 'What A Day (Disco)'. The rest of the album just fell into place after that," says Jason Herring.

Produced and mixed by Jason Herring and Rob Tavaglione, 'Haunted Organic Machines' finds the band exploring new, but familiar territory from spacey dance grooves, to spooky, moody dream pop and everything that goes with it.

This album follows a steady stream of releases from the quintet, the latest of which involved the legendary John Fryer (This Mortal Coil, Black Needle Noise), known for producing seminal releases by Love and Rockets, Dead Can Dance, Nine Inch Nails, Swans, Clan of Xymox, Yaz (Yazoo), Xmal Deutschland and Stabbing Westward, among others. This fruitful collaboration shaped The Mystery Plan albums 'Queensland Ballroom', 'Zsa Zsa' and 'You Also Have Eyes', not to mention the creation of an epic remix on the 'Thought Bubbles' record.

As of February 10, the 'What A Day' EP will be available digitally, including Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music. The full ''Haunted Organic Machines' album will be released, both digitally and on CD, on March 31.

Indie pop outfit The Mystery Plan has announced their new album 'You Also Have Eyes', set for release in mid-July via Ten Millimeter Omega Recordings. Produced by Jason Herring, Rob Tavaglione and the legendary John Fryer, this long-player continues a tradition of collaboration with Fryer that includes their 2020 'Zsa Zsa'record and 2017 'Queensland Ballroom' album.

The band are previewing the single 'Silver Lining' featuring Big Supreme on vocals. Written during the pandemic, this song is an ode to looking at the bright side of things. The accompanying live lounge-styled video was shot and cut by Jay Thomas in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Formed in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2010, The Mystery Plan is Jason Herring, Amy Herring, Jefferson Chester, Otis Hughes and Patty McLaughlin. To date, they've released 11 EPs and LPs. Their new album also involves contributions by Micah Gaugh (The Veldt / Apollo Heights / Dope Sagittarius), Rob Tavaglione and Snap Nation.

"Sitting down to write 'Silver Lining', I knew I wanted to be upbeat and optimistic. I've known Big Supreme for decades now, and always loved his words and his flow. So I asked him if he would like to write something and record with us, and he said yes. I let him know, kind of, how I was feeling while writing the music. A few weeks later he sent me recordings of what he did with 'Silver Lining'. I loved it," says Jason Herring.

Big Supreme (a.k.a. Chris Jones) is a rapper from Charlotte, who has been on the scene since the 1990s. He got his start by winning rap battles on the local Hip-Hop station for months and months, holding the record for the longest run on that station. He is also the younger brother of Charlotte-based DJ and producer That Guy Smitty, who is half of Muchacho with Jason Herring.

"I was truly in a period of stagnation musically. The year 2020 was a tough year all around the world, but one thing it made me practice doing is going without in order to search within and create the necessary rituals needed for survival. I came out feeling more alive than ever. I've never been one to force the art; but when I heard the music The Mystery Plan had put together, I just let it play and let the spirit speak through me. What came out of it was a message of hope for 2021 and beyond. Life isn't perfect, but I truly believe that at the end of every struggle in life, there's a silver lining," explains Big Supreme.

The band's sixth full-length album, 'You Also Have Eyes' features select tracks from several of their records, including 'We All Get Down' (co-written, produced and mixed by Ian Masters of Pale Saints, Spoonfed Hybrid, ESP Summer). There are three new songs exclusive to this CD and digital edition - 'Silver Lining, 'Weird Things Humans Do', and the Peter Anderson (the Ocean Blue) mix of 'Wonder Why'.

'Silver Lining' is available now across online platforms, including Spotify and Bandcamp. The 'You Also Have Eyes' LP is out on July 16 on vinyl, CD and digitally, with the CD and digital releases entailing expanded editions. The album can be pre-ordered directly from the band.

"Sitting down to write 'Silver Lining', I knew I wanted to be upbeat and optimistic. Since we were in the middle of a pandemic, I wasn't really in the place to do so lyrically. I've known Big Supreme for decades now, and of always loved his words and his flow. He is the younger brother of Charlotte DJ/producer That Guy Smitty, who I am also in the group Muchacho with," says Jason Herring.

"So I asked him if he would like to write something and record with us, and he said yes. I let him know, kind of, how I was feeling while writing the music. Hopefully we'll get to work together again. He's quite amazing."
