Normally, symphonic metal historians SERENITY share long forgotten stories of ancient kings, queens and mythical legends. But now, the assembly is looking back at their own band history and legacy of 20 years on their new live album and cinematic journey, MEMORIA, out now digitally, and in physical formats on January 6 via Napalm Records

Fitting for the live album’s release, the quartet surprises fans with their second single, “Spirit In The Flesh”. Dressed in their characteristic folk sound and combined with enchanting tunes, the song is supported by Niklas Müller, drummer of Symphonic Metal upstarts AD INFINITUM, on rhythmic drums. The song comes along with a video which captures the feverish atmosphere of SERENITY’s dedicated fans.

Singer Georg on “Spirit In The Flesh”:

The track was originally released on our album Codex Atlanticus, named after the famous work of Leonardo DaVinci, who was our inspiration for the entire album. We wanted to tell the story of his courage to face the wraths of the church against scientists and his strong will to explore the secrets of nature at all risks. The song itself convinces with a strong folk melody that is pointed out even more in the acoustic version. And of course, we are grateful for the support of our longtime friend Niklas Müller (AD INFINITUM) giving the song an energy kick with his drumming.

"'The King' is about a broken sacred rule that forbids the hunt of a bear in winter. Hunter was only allowed to face the king when it was in its full strength. Bear was carried out from the forest head first because bears spirit was believed to live forever and only dead were carried feet first. The skull was hung in a sacred tree facing east where the spirits were believed to travel. Bear was truly the ruler of the woodlands and especially the death of the king was full of rituals and beliefs. The song also introduces our guitarist Vageliss as a vocalist in a leading role and his magnificent execution brings Wolfheart trademark sound into a new level"

Boisterous Hungarian Celtic-punk pirates PADDY AND THE RATS throw an unforgettable pirate party with their second offering, "Everybody Get Up", cut from their sixth album, From Wasteland To Wonderland. “We shot quite an unusual video for our new single, ‘Everybody Get Up’. The song itself sticks out of the line a little bit, because it has a kind of hip hop vibe like our childhood favourite bands, the Beastie Boys and Run DMC, and that is not typical of us. We wanted to visualize it, so we are wearing absolute different style clothing in the clip, summoning the New York hip hop and hardcore bands outfit of the 80’s. We made a very cool and funny mood video that can’t be taken seriously, at all. So many bad things happened to us recently that we needed some happiness, at last. So we took our teenage ourselves out again and were just fooling around.”

PADDY AND THE RATS throw a first class pirate party!

With their six full-length, PADDY AND THE RATS serve a top-notch pirate party fueled by a heavy dose of Punk, Polka and Folk, turning the world into a giant pub! This Irish influenced sound will assuredly bring up the urge to slam down a cold one while swinging happily along arm in arm to the beat! Formed in 2008 by singer and songwriter Paddy, the untamed unit have built a respective name within the scene due to hard work and extensive touring all over Europe – with more than 400 shows including at the world famous Wacken Open Air and the Sziget Festival. For the new album, they teamed up once again with producer Zoli Baker. The artwork was designed by Jill Colbert, who has also worked with bands like Alestorm, Exodus and Wintersun.

On a rousing 13 tracks, the Hungarians magically pull one stirring song after another out of their pirate hats, featuring a great variation of instruments like accordion, fiddle, banjo and bagpipe. The Celtic punks sail off on exciting adventures with their opener “Wasteland”, offering a longing duo of mandolin and vocals accompanied by violin injections. The spirit is incited with “Ship Will Sale”: The rousing track hits like a wild wave and invites the listener to join the party, swaying and stomping with them. The full-length pushes forward with “Party like a Pirate”, where they delight their shipmates with an eager party hit, that comes with a sweeping sing-along chorus. “Everybody Get Up” offers another power boost and slowly prepares for the end of the adventure, with its punkier, energetic sound. Blackened Death/Doom Offensive 1914 Reveals Second Single, “Pillars Of Fire (The Battle Of Messines)”

Ukrainian WWI experts 1914 continue to reflect the gruesome tales of World War I, its soldiers’ fate, their death, fear and feats to be never forgotten on their sinister new epos, Where Fear and Weapons Meet, out October 22, 2021 via Napalm Records.

After revealing their massive first outburst, “...And a Cross Now Marks His Place”, featuring none other than Paradise Lost icon Nick Holmes, the blackened death/doom metal frontrunners now reveal another scorching new track, entitled “Pillars of Fire (The Battle of Messines)”. The second single depicts The Battle of Messines in 1917 and starts off with an atmospheric introduction, drawing the listener deep into the album’s theme. Just within the blink of an eye, it erupts into a massive blackened death/doom outburst – freezing the blood in every vein.

"This song describes the terrible events of the Battle of the Messines Ridge that occurred from June 7-14, 1917 in Belgium, one of the most insane episodes of the Great War.

Subjects of the British crown and ANZAC dug a huge tunnels under the German positions, packed them with hundreds of tons of explosives and blew them up. In one second, in just one moment, about 10,000 people died. They were simply torn to pieces. The human brain is always subject to non-trivial approaches to kill each other. The title of the track is a direct reference to the wonderful book by Jan Passingham - 'Pillars of Fire: The Battle of the Messines Ridge', also the movie 'Beneath Hill 60', and memories of the participants of this event. Some eyewitnesses described the scene as "pillars of fire", although many also acknowledged this was indescribable."

1914 break into their third offering with the intro “War In”, summed up by final “War Out”, and immediately build a common thread to the previous records. “War In” is the original of the most famous Serbian song of the Great War period, “Tamo Daleko”. Like World War I, the album begins in Serbia and continues on the first track from the prospective of Gavrilo Princip, who assassinated Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo and caused the outbreak of World War I.

What happens next is an intense, in-depth analysis of historical events, for example – Battle of Vimy Ridge, shameful pages of the British Empire history in the track “Coward” featuring Sasha Boole (Me And That Man), The Battle of Messines on “Pillars of Fire” or the infantry regiment, the Harlem Hellfighters, on “Don’t Tread On Me”. Authentic forces like ambient sonic war samplings transport these stories even further into the present and make Where Fear and Weapons Meet another heavily intense and deep-reaching output that will grant 1914 even higher appreciation than the five-piece is already credited with.

“Where Fear and Weapons Meet continues the theme we started on The Blind Leading the Blind - with one major difference: these are the stories about hope where most of our characters are staying alive, becoming heroes, and returning back to their homes. Yes, it is still about fear, death, and senselessness of war, but the hope is the only thing the soldier holds on to. And a good portion of luck as well. Even the album cover reflects this - the man lays wounded, bleeding in the trench, reaching his hand to Death begging for relieve, and Death declines to take him. He deserves to live.

The album starts with the assassination in Sarajevo, leads you through the bloodiest moments of the Great War, and ends up with the monologue on a grave of a young man killed in his first battle. This time we did have even more hard digging into the historical background while making the tracks. We are not singing the songs, we are telling the stories!”
