Derek Sherinian and Simon Phillips to release Live album on August 25

SHERINIAN/PHILLIPS is the musical alliance of Derek Sherinian and Simon Phillips, whose parallel reputations in virtuosic sonic inventions combine on the backdrop of instrumental genre fusion. Though the two had written and recorded together in the past, commitments to other projects had kept them busy in their own circles for a time. Upon their reunion for the recording of 2020’s The Phoenix, the duo has been going strong with consistent new releases ever since. Now, they are pleased to announce the release of SHERINIAN/PHILLIPS LIVE, which exhibits the pair uniting once again for a collaborative effort, documenting a special concert recorded at The Grape in Ventura, California on August 29th, 2022. The set is due out on August 25th, 2023 on InsideOutMusic.

Joining Sherinian/Phillips are fellow creatives Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal on guitar and Ric Fierabracci on bass to round out the lineup of the evening. Several tracks from the latest studio album offering, Vortex, made their way into the set, such as the title track “Vortex”, “Seven Seas”, and “Aurora Australis” (the original recording of which featured Bumblefoot), alongside other instrumentals.

Today, they share another track from their upcoming album SHERINIAN/PHILLIPS – LIVE which was recorded at
The Grape (Ventura, CA) on August 29th, 2022.  Check the following link to listen to “Inertia (Live 2022):

SHERINIAN/PHILLIPS LIVE has every note - planned or jammed - captured like lightning in a bottle, taking listeners to the moment these sounds sparked from their instruments. The live performance sits naturally in a rock context, while reminiscent of jazz fusion concert structures, with room for each musician to stand out in a solo space, each carrying and trading unique melodies along the way.

Derek Sherinian: “After 20 years of making albums together, it was a great pleasure bringing this music to life with Simon for the first time.”

The album will be available in the following formats:
Black Vinyl | Ltd. CD Digipak | CD Jewelcase (North America)

Pre-Order is available via this LINK:
https://dereksherinian.lnk.to/SherinianPhillips-Live

Line-Up:
Derek Sherinian (keys/synth)
Simon Phillips (drums)
Ron ‘Bumblefoot’ Thal (guitar)
Ric Fierabracci (bass)

Sherinian’s background as a composer and keyboardist extends well beyond his familiar Dream Theater run, with a notable solo career creating a landscape for contributions from an array of acclaimed musicians, alongside performance credits with the likes of Alice Cooper, Black Country Communion, Billy Idol, Whitesnake, Kiss, Black Label Society, and Sons of Apollo (doubling on production credits), among others.

Phillips has equally rooted himself as a well-respected drummer and composer in the rock, metal, and jazz worlds, with credits ranging from Toto, Judas Priest, Jeff Beck, The Who, Whitesnake, and Joe Satriani, to a discography in jazz fusion with Protocol, movie soundtracks, and beyond.

The diverse range of this pair’s individual talents collectively emerges through each work they craft together; Sherinian and Phillips continue to evolve their joint musical endeavors in new directions.

Timothy Judson Taylor Releases New Single "The Fall Of Rome" via TLG/INgrooves

Timothy Judson Taylor has released a brand new single titled "The Fall of Rome" via TLG/INgrooves. This is the first single off of his full length album Crossing the Rubicon due out this summer!

"'When 'The Fall of Rome' was written in 2015 I could see the cracks in the foundation of our fundamental civil rights. At the time the 2nd amendment was under attack, and the obvious take away was that without the 2nd amendment, none of your rights are safe. If there is anything we should have learned in all of this it is that the government CANNOT keep you safe. Preserve the Bill of Rights," says Timothy Judson Taylor.

Timothy Judson Taylor is a musician and vocalist who began playing guitar at the age of 13. His mother kept a variety of modern music playing in the house. His early influences were the Beatles, the Folk Movement, Motown, The British Invasion, and others. At the age of 13, he saw Emerson, Lake and Palmer on Don Kirschner’s Rock Concert and it changed him forever.

Though the technical brilliance of this super group was obvious, what struck him was when Greg Lake sat down with his acoustic guitar, and sang "Lucky Man", "Still You Turn Me On", and "From The Beginning". It was then he realized THIS was what he was meant to do.

Timothy has been a lead vocalist and lead guitarist to an assortment of bands, as well as all-original lineups where he's written all his own material. Tim has amassed an enormous body of original work and always wanted to release it to the world…in the way his mind heard it.

Today, with Crossing The Rubicon, that dream is realized.

Song credits are as follows:

Timothy Judson Taylor- Vocals- Rhythm Guitar
Ron Bumblefoot Thal- Lead Guitar
Derek Sherinian- Keyboards
Devin North- Bass Guitar
Tim Smith- Drums and Percussion

THOMAS THUNDER Releases New Single “Paralyzed with Fear” feat. Derek Sherinian, Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal and Tony Franklin

"Paralyzed with Fear" is an epic hard-rock ballad written by 14 year-old prodigious drummer and songwriter Thomas Thunder. The song is an homage to the power rock ballads of the '80's. It was inspired by the 1922 horror film Nosferatu, and the relationship between the main female character, her fiancé and the medaling vampire. Guest musicians include Ron Bumblefoot Thal (Sons of Apollo; Guns N' Roses), Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo; Dream Theater), Tony Franklin (The Firm; Jimmy Page) and Echo Deva Picone on vocals.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Thomas on his debut album. I was extremely impressed with his creativity, and use of advanced harmony for a kid his age. I think the future is bright for young Thomas Thunder!”
-Derek Sherinian

“Ive had the pleasure of playing on the soon to be released album of Thomas Thunder. Thomas is a young up and coming musician and he’s a phenomenal drummer. He’s a very intricate songwriter that writes this amazing, crazy stuff that has been so tough to play. I’m on his album along with my Sons of Apollo bandmate Derek Sherinian, and bass player Tony Franklin. So, please check out this album. I hope you enjoy it!”
-Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal

"I was thrilled to play on Thomas’s album, with such an esteemed group of musicians. Thomas is definitely advanced for his years as both a writer and a player. I look forward to seeing how he will evolve as he creates more and more."
-Tony Franklin

The single is from the album, The Pharaoh's Temple, that released in September 2021.

"I see my life in terms of music”

A powerful quote by the renowned genius Albert Einstein. This holds true for 14 year old Drummer and Progressive Rock songwriter Thomas Thunder. Barely in his teens, this young musician from Southern New England is here to prove that children can not only perform as a musician, but be a successful songwriter as well. With his intricate Progressive Rock songs that include odd time signatures and unique instrumentation he has captured the attention of fans as well as professional musicians.

Thomas began his journey as a musician when he started drum lessons at age five. He started playing in a performance band by age eight at School of Rock, and it was there that Thomas was inspired to start songwriting himself. At age 10 years old, Thomas released his first single, and he was awarded a prize in the Eventide Theater Songwriting competition. Thomas has also been featured on the British Prog Rock blog, participated in radio and Podcast interviews, and landed the cover of American Pride Magazine. He also has achieved three Number One hits on the independent music chart The Fabchart.

His love of Progressive Rock bands like Sons of Apollo, Dream Theater and Tool permeate his songwriting. In fact, Thomas grabbed the attention of the ‘King of Keyboards’ Derek Sherinian (Sons of Apollo member; ex Dream Theater; Alice Cooper, etc) with his songs. Thomas has written several songs that feature one of his musical idols Derek Sherinian on keyboards. Not only has Derek contributed to Thomas’ songs but has produced them as well.

This superstar collaboration has solidified for Thomas to continue on the path as a musician and songwriter. Becoming a professional musician, performing live, and Prog Rock songwriting are his musical goals. Since age 12, his original music is published on all streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple and Amazon. Thomas also is a member of the high IQ society Mensa.

The future looks bright for Thomas Thunder!

He continues, “The song was written last year during the pandemic and was inspired by an interaction I had with a phone app and a refrigerator and it got me thinking that maybe there is something else I should be doing besides waiting on text messages from my refrigerator to tell me the milk is spoiled? Maybe we all need to take time to catch our breath and unwind?”

A.D. 2020 Release New Single “Ricochet” + Official Lyric Video

A.D. 2020 released their new single "Ricochet" to all major platforms today. "Ricochet", written by Mark McNelley, Dan Reed and Todd Thanhauser, is the first single from the band's forthcoming album Lockdown Diaries due out independently on August 10, 2021.

"Ricochet" is available to stream and download on Itunes, Amazon, Spotify and all major digital platforms and is also available for purchase at www.ad2020music.com

“Mark McNelley and I had discussed the album the album that would become Lockdown Diaries a year earlier when were at Red Rocks in Colorado. If you can’t be inspired at Red Rocks, I give up. We began collaboration on the songs that would eventually make up the album in June of 2020 at the height of the pandemic. We wanted to create songs with a positive message and work with friends who we felt would bring positive energy to the project. I had known Dan Reed and Melvin Brannon from Dan Reed Network for a very long time and was a fan of their music and each of them personally. In May of 2020 I told Dan Reed of the idea to do an album with musicians who were home from touring and he asked me who I was going to get to play guitar and bass and I mentioned Greg Smith and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal as possibilities. I had met Greg Smith from Ted Nugent’s band the year before and had called him to tell him of the idea and he thought it was something he was interested in so we stayed in touch as I assembled the rest of the musicians. I had been listening to Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal’s latest acoustic album Barefoot 3 and was blown away by his arrangements. I had met Ron also the year before and knew he was an amazing guitar player and also a nice guy so I really wanted him involved if there was a way" says Todd Thanhauser, the band's drummer.

He adds, “Ricochet” was the first song we wrote together in June of 2020 and the first time I heard the demo that Dan Reed had sent to us I knew the song was going to be something special.”
